HMICS Report - Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) John Hawkins - Duration: 1:25.

I'm really pleased that HMICS has

acknowledged the progress that we've

made in relation to call handling.

We've made progress in relation to our program of

change

and we're delivering a more effective, faster

and more resilient set of 999 and 101 services

and we see the benefit of that each and

every day. Over the last week we've answered

over 97%

of 999 calls within 10 seconds

and 97% of 101 calls within 40

seconds and that represents very strong

performance indeed. There are a number of

factors behind that. We've invested in

ICT and have a more stable and faster

network. We've increased our staff

resource numbers in our service centers

and control rooms and we've introduced

processes whereby our staff can identify

where improvements are possible more

quickly.

Above all else though, I want to pay tribute

to our staff for their professionalism and

their dedication. They receive over 3 million

calls a year, often in emergency

circumstances. HMI has acknowledged

the fact that we cannot completely eliminate risk

in police call handling and that's

entirely true.

Our staff deal with emergency calls

with people in distress but what the

report highlights is that we're better

prepared than ever before to meet that

challenge. Collectively, we'll do all that

we can to ensure that we continue to

provide the best possible 999

and 101 services to communities right across Scotland.

Izzy: Hi I'm Izzy and today I am joined by my cousins who aren't actually cousins.

Amy: Yeah

Izzy: What is your name? Amy: Amy

Poppy: My name is Poppy!

Izzy: And you two are... Poppy: Great!

Izzy and Ami: Sisters! Poppy: Yeah

Izzy: Ok, so... Ami: You haven't introduced me!

Izzy: Oh, yeah. This is my sister. So we're gonna do the cousin tag.

Izzy: How and when did you meet? We went to the same school.

Amy: Yeah we went to the same primary school Izzy: Our mums were friends as well

Izzy: Amy and I were in the same year and we were kinda friends. Amy: Yeah, we were. We were friends.

Amy: These two got along. I remember when everyone came round each others' house, you'd start pranks

Poppy: Her! I wouldn't! Amy: What? What did you say?

Ami: Harsh! She said you! Poppy: But I didn't mean that.

Ami: Anything in the world... Amy: GCSEs and school.

Ami: Get rid of Donald Trump. Izzy: What was the last thing you bought?

Amy: Oo! Yesterday, I bought a manga and a book. Ami: She bought a manga, what about you?

Amy: And I've read the manga already

Izzy: The next thing I buy is probably going to be something with my HMV giftcard.

Because I got a HMV giftcard and I'm gonna buy some CDs with it. Maybe Arctic Monkeys, Panic! at the Disco, The 1975... I don't know

Amy: She's got her life planned out. Poppy: I bought a choker last, last thing I bought.

Poppy: No it's the other one, in my bag. Amy: Oh, I hate chokers.

Amy: You can listen to music. Ami: No, anyone can watch anime.

Izzy: No, but you have the dedication to see it all. Izzy: Are you a good cook?

Amy: No. Poppy: Yes. Izzy: Ami can bake! Ami: I can bake

Izzy: Poppy can cook, you two can bake, and I can't do anything. I can eat!

Izzy: What time do you get up? Amy: 6 o'clock Poppy: On a school day, 6. Izzy: On a school day, 7.

Quarter to 7, preferably. Poppy: on a normal day, 7:27, I'm not joking.

Ami: 7:27 and 15 seconds. Poppy: but on a really tiring day I wake up at like nine or eight.

Izzy: Any nickname? I call Ami Bim Bob and she calls me Bimmy.

Amy: I call her Popsies. Poppy: Yeah I have Popsies, Pops, Pop. Poppy and Amy: Poppledoodledoo.

Poppy: And then I have popcorn, poptart. Amy: Popsicle. Ami: Just anything starting with Pop.

Izzy: Heels or flats? All: Flats Izzy: Blackberry or iPhone

Amy: iPhone. Izzy: Who has an iPhone? Was this made in 2007? Ami: Who actually has a blackberry in 2016 (going on 2017 ahh)?

Izzy: I prefer android to apple. Amy: Samsung. Ami: I have a microsoft phone so I am swaggeroo. Izzy: Aren't you swaggy

Amy: Poppy did have one until she full on smashed it! Izzy: Pants or dresses? I think they mean trousers.

Amy: Pants/trousers. Poppy: Trousers Ami: Jeans. Izzy: On a general day...

Ami: We're all wearing black jeans... OOh

Izzy: Favourite animal? Squirrel. Ami: Fox. Amy: Eagle. Poppy: Raccoon dog. Ami: oookaay

Izzy: Describe the last thing you did. Ami: Punched them Amy: She talked to my door, I watched anime with her.

Izzy: Complete this statement: my cousin is... My couins are anime lovers.

Poppy: My cousins... Izzy: My cousins are quite funny and ask me why I ship Dan and Phil.

Amy: Why do you ship Dan and Phil? Izzy: OTP of the internet. You're allowed to not ship it.

Izzy: I ain't shoving it in their faces, I ain't asking them to get married to each other. I'm just shipping them.

Izzy + Ami: If you could go anywhere in the world together, where would you and why?Poppy+Amy:JAPAN!

Izzy: I don't think we have a say in that but yeah lets go! Ami: Favourite inside joke?

Ami: What would be ours? Izzy and Ami: Cheesy muffin. Izzy: Oh I need to tell you, so we have an inside joke of the words cheesy muffin yeah. Ami: No!

What Really Happens To Your Body When You Have Kids - Duration: 6:10.

Pregnancy is a crazy time of change for any mom and her growing family.

Not only does a woman's body morph right before her very eyes, but there's a brand new human

cooking up in that belly.

So just as an incredible amount of hormone and dietary changes begin, mom-to-be has to

prepare her house and family for the arrival of a new bundle of joy, too.

Fact of the matter is that once that little test reads positive, a woman's world will

never quite be the same again.

"That ain't no Etch-A-Sketch.

This is one doodle that can't be undid homeskillet."

Here are a few of the key changes that happen to almost every mom's body.

Body bloat

A lot of women experience some swelling during their pregnancies, especially around the ankles

and face.

"I'm pregnant."

"You're gonna get fat!"

What's worse is that, if you give birth vaginally, you might come away from the experience with

a lot of inflammation and swelling down there.

This can be pretty painful, or at least uncomfortable, so take advantage of those ice packs and soft

seating pillows after the big day is done.

Some women also report feeling bloated all over for several weeks after their deliveries

due to those extra pounds of fat stored up during gestation and the weeks of being sedentary

around delivery.

But healthy eating habits and getting back into an exercise routine once the doctor's

approved it can help a woman start to feel almost normal again.

Of course, sleep and self-care are important to squeeze in during those precious moments

of free time as well.

Potty time!

It's pretty common knowledge that once the baby grows to the point of putting pressure

on a woman's abdomen, her bathroom visits will become a lot more frequent.

But the truth is that the frequent urge to tinkle doesn't exactly subside once the baby's

made his or her world debut.

After childbirth, a mother's pelvic floor muscles can be weakened, making it difficult

to hold back those gallons of liquid she's downing to make up for a milk supply.

For those that do experience a little unexpected incontinence after delivery, don't worry.

You won't be pee-sneezing forever.

Kegels are a new mom's best friend.

For those who aren't familiar with that term, let's let the expert explain.

"All you have to do to stay tight is to tighten and release it for ten minutes a day.

Kegel exercises!

I'm doing mine right now."

You heard the woman.

Shoe size-up

Towards the end of your pregnancy, your normal shoes will most likely be pretty tight because

of that pesky swelling in your feet and legs.

But what most women might not expect is their feet actually changing permanently.

In some cases, the connective tissue between bones in the feet may be permanently altered

by pregnancy swelling, resulting in a here-to-stay uptick in shoe size.

Hey, at least this gives women a good excuse to take a shopping break between feedings,

right?

Hippie shake

One of the other size increases that a woman might experience long after having kids is

in her pants region.

That's because the hormone relaxin that's produced by the ovary and placenta during

the process of pregnancy can literally relax the hip bones and cause pelvic enlargement

for the long haul.

Good news, right?

"I don't even recognize my body anymore, you know?

It's like I could fit 20 of my old bras into this one giant piece of granny spandex."

Dietary dips

For a lot of new moms, there comes a stinging realization that even after their baby is

born, their bodies don't look all that different right away.

As any new mother who's been mistaken as still pregnant can attest, those first few weeks

with a postpartum body can be very discouraging.

For some, that discontent can turn deadly.

According to studies, many mothers have reported their weight gain as very stressful and resorted

to unhealthy eating habits as a way to shed the unwanted baby weight.

So, just as new moms and their families should be cautious about the onset of postpartum

depression after delivery, special attention should also be paid to make sure mommy is

eating well and feeling good about her heroic body as well.

Sex drive

It might not exactly be breaking news to say that new moms aren't always racing back to

the bedroom to revisit what got them pregnant in the first place.

Of course, there are exceptions.

"Your beige windbreaker's really lightin' up my board."

"Oh, uh, thanks."

"Do you know what I mean?

My vagina."

But a decrease in libido is completely normal.

There are a lot of reasons why mothers might not be ready for sexy time after bringing

up baby, even after the doctor-recommended downtime passes, including sleep deprivation,

hormonal shifts, and, yeah, that screaming little one who takes up so much of your attention

and affection all of a sudden.

A diminished sex drive can also last well into the months and years following childbirth,

too, as moms adapt to their demanding new job title and may possibly be grappling with

body image concerns as well.

An assuring partner or counselor can certainly help to allay those issues, but he or she

should still be patient if those magic moments don't always transpire they way they used

to.

Dads, too

Women aren't the only ones who experience massive changes during the process of procreation.

Men can also experience bodily shifts as a result of pregnancy — and we're not just

talking about putting on a few sympathy pounds from those increased trips to the frozen yogurt

bar either.

Dads-to-be can experience a spike in the hormone cortisol four to six weeks after learning

that their partner is pregnant, and that hormone is the stress agent that's responsible for

the fight or flight response.

This level tends to go back to normal as your pregnancy progresses.

But while the levels are elevated, a father's brain can be extra alert and in a sense wake

him up to the impending reality of a new baby's coming.

Men can also experience testosterone level decreases while his prolactin level increases.

Prolactin is the hormone responsible for helping mothers produce breast milk and can increase

by more than 20 percent in men during pregnancy.

These changes may be the body's way of helping a partner adjust to his upcoming role as a

dad, and while hormone levels start to return to normal once the baby arrives, there is

one that has a more permanent change: Dads who are more involved with raising their children

tend to have lower testosterone levels than uninvolved dads, which is equal parts bizarre

and amazing.

And that's basically life in a nutshell, right?

"There, there, see?

It's working.

Piece of cake.

There.

Yeah."

"Nice job, Pete."

Adrenal Fatigue Diet: How to Eat When You Have Adrenal Fatigue - Duration: 7:51.

Heys it Angela Rocchio, founder of heal your adrenal fatigue.com and youre watching

adrenal fatigue tv In this video I am going to share with you

how to eat an adrenal healing diet which includes not only

what foods to eat, but what foods to avoid.

And I am going to tell you how to avoid a very common mistake that many adrenal fatigue

sufferers make that further exhausts the adrenals, making it impossible to heal.

So stay tuned.

Chances are you have some anxiety when it comes to eating.

It's confusing, right?

People say go gluten free, vegan, stop eating sugar,

go Paleo.

There is so much advice out there and sometimes it's conflicting.

Thats because healing from this condition is not a one-size fits all kind of thing.

That is why we recommend you get professional support

to follow a diet that is customized to your body and your lifestyle.

I'm going to give you a big DIY tip on how to do this, so stay tuned.

We will start with Foods that Nourish The Adrenals

1) Foods High in protein and fat Fats and proteins break down slowly, so they

provide fuel for hours after they are eaten. and with blood sugar balance being an issue

for AF sufferers, proteins and fats are helpful to keep blood sugar levels stable

which results in more balanced cortisol and epinephrine levels.

2) Eat nutrient-dense, whole foods.

Not getting enough nutrients is a common issue for adrenal fatigue sufferers.

Often times this is due to poor nutrient absorption.

Poor nutrient absorption can the result of years of or chronic poor digestion and/or

other obstacles like leaky gut, parasites, candida overgrowth.

The more nutrient dense foods you eat the better chance your body

has at absorbing all the nutrients you need for healing.

3) Eat fresh, local preferably organic, and Non GMO foods

Choosing high quality meats, poultry, dairy (grass-fed, pastured-raised), fruits and

vegetables helps you avoid preservatives, added hormones, artificial colors, dyes, and

chemicals.

These foreign and unnatural substances are harder to process and therefore

puts more stress on the body.

Eating organic and ideally locally grown (very fresh) foods

ensures maximum nutrient density.

4) Incorporate Good Salt Into Your Diet If you don't have high blood pressure it's

okay to give into your cravings for salty foods.

Make sure you're choosing the right kind of salt.

(Learn more about good salt and how to incorporate it into your diet in this

video).

Your salt cravings are most likely related to low levels of a steroid hormone called

aldosterone.

This hormone is produced by the adrenal glands and has a central role in

regulating blood pressure.

When cortisol goes up, aldosterone goes down.

5) Choose Low-Glycemic Fruits Blood sugar balance is an issue for many adrenal

fatigue sufferers, so go light on fruits especially in the morning.

When you do eat fruits think berries, green apples, kiwi,

cantaloupe and stone fruits like peaches and plums.

Avoid bananas, grapes, dried fruit and oranges.

6) Eat Whole Grains If you eat grains, allow whole grains to be

the main source of your carbohydrates.

This doesn't just mean whole wheat pasta noodles

or whole wheat bread.

Eat the whole grain.

For example, steel cut oats, quinoa, millet, brown rice.

Foods That Exhaust The Adrenals 1) Processed foods

Avoid processed foods as best you can, typically these are foods that come in a box, bag

or package.

Why because they contain less nutrients than whole foods as typically have

lots of preservatives and additives that can stress the body and the adrenals.

2) Stimulants Avoid stimulants like coffee which create

artificial energy followed by a "crash".

Keep sugar and alcohol to a minimum.

3) Foods Your Body is Sensitive/Allergic or Intolerant to

It is important that you eliminate these foods as soon as possible.

When you eat these foods it triggers an allergic reaction and

creates an inflammatory response.

This puts stress on the adrenal because the adrenals

play a key role in allergic reactions.

They produce the hormone cortisol.

Cortisol happens to be in charge of reducing inflammation.

that is why many people with adrenal fatigue have more allergies or their allergies seem

to get worse.

Inflammation can also cause fatigue, headaches, joint and muscle pain, mood swings,

sleep problems and cognitive difficulties.

Not sure what foods you're sensitive to?

Let me give you a tip, This is the same tip I promised to share with you about how

you can eat an adrenal fatigue diet that is more customized to you)

Do a little trial and error.

This will help you identify food sensitivities or allergies.

Heres how to do this 1) Keep a log for 1 week of what you eat and

how you feel.

Look for things like: How long your energy lasts after eating a

meal?

Do you have digestive distress?

Do you feel hungry even after youve just eaten?

At the end of this video I am giving away a free gift to help make this step super easy,

so stay tuned.

Remember Your body is a great messenger system; we just need to make sure we are

listening.

This is a great start.

And no pun intended here, but Trust Your Gut.

You know your body better than anyone.

If you suspect you have a sensitivity to something, definitely explore it.

Wondering, how and where to start eliminating?

Start with one food group at a time so you can be sure it's really an issue.

If you suspect you're allergic to multiple food groups start

with the one you believe you are most sensitive to.

Start eliminating that food from your diet as soon as possible.

Get support from an expert to find great alternatives, so it doesn't have to feel so

overwhelming.

Wed love to help you with that.

Stay with this plan of elimination for 4-6 weeks.

Note any changes in your digestion, mood, energy level, skin, etc.

And please remember this is only temporary.

Most of our clients can go back to eating these foods with no issues after they have

healed their adrenal fatigue.

So now you know what to eat and what NOT to eat on an adrenal fatigue diet.

Just one more thing...

This is Just as important as WHAT you eat, its WHEN you eat

When you're busy, stressed out and lacking energy it's easy to skip or delay meals.

This is not a good idea with adrenal fatigue.

Skipping or delaying meals does the following 1.

Slows down your metabolism, giving your body the message that it needs to conserve

energy by storing calories as fat 2.

Causes your blood sugar to drop.

This puts stress on your adrenal glands because they

are in charge of maintaining your blood sugar levels and they have to release more

cortisol and adrenaline to maintain the body's normal functioning.

3.

And finally, when you fast for several hours, it does NOT allow your body to produce

glucose which is the primary source of energy for your brain and your nervous

system.

When you eat, the body breaks down your food and produces glucose.

So when you dont eat, the glucose in your brain

decreases, which means less energy.

This lack of glucose impairs your concentration, focus,

mood and memory.

So ready for that free gift I promised?

Here at heal your adrenal fatigue.com we want to make this easier

for you to take action.

Weve put together a printable Healing Food Log that that

will make it super easy for you to identify those foods your

body is sensitive to so you can heal your adrenals faster.

And we want to give it to you absolutely free.

This way you can take the overwhelm out of this process.

Welby Altidor: Your Teammates Have Superpowers—Find Them - Duration: 2:50.

In the context of an audition, I can meet a number of artists who are maybe very well

practiced, but not necessarily in touch with that genius.

So, what happens in those cases is that, when you're not in touch with your genius when

you arrive at an audition, you are trying to mold yourself to what the person wants.

I want you to show me the one thing that's really distinctive about you.

What do you consider as being your genius?

Because my belief is that you have a genius.

And what do you consider as being your superpowers?

And it's almost like I have in my mind, or I map, literally, the different geniuses and

superpowers that I have in a team, and then I try to even coalesce that, and identify,

then, what's the superpower and what's the genius of that particular team?

Almost like the genius identity, and the superpowers identity of the collective.

So, that in itself allows you to spend time with the members of the team, and really tell

them that you're seeing them, and that you're hearing them.

And then there's some basic things, you know.

You're in a meeting, and this ability to listen is so critical.

And to show not only that you're listening, but, "Is this what you're telling me?"

So, just some basic mirroring to make sure that what people are communicating to you

on an issue or so on is actually being heard.

It's one way to take the temperature of the team, and when you start to do this consistently,

people start to see, "Oh, he's trustworthy.

I can trust this person.

We're spending time, and he's getting what I'm sharing, and he's creating some space,

and he wants to create some space for my genius and my superpowers to be really expressed

in that project."

Is There A Higher Power? | The Wonders - Duration: 5:00.

- Greetings, Wonders.

This is Dave again.

- Greetings, Dave Again.

- (Laughter) A lot of questions for you.

- Good!

- Is there a higher power or is that a state of mind?

Is it Jesus or Allah - what is it? (Snore)

(Laughter)

- Putting us to sleep there.

Sorry.

Apologies, that was such a… (snore) (Laughter)

- Dear friend, the highest power you have is yourself.

You have the absolute - notice the word "absolute" - ability to choose freely.

You.

So, why not exercise it?

Why give that power away to the Nazarene, Allah, Buddha, us The Wonders, John, Henry, George?

Oh, let's not forget Stephen Harper.

You see?

- Thought you were going with The Beatles there for a minute.

- Could've been.

Could've been the whiskey, could've been the wine.

The point is, why give your power away to anything or anyone?

You see?

The journey you're on here, really, why you come here to experience all this experience

of existence is really to learn to empower yourself.

Take that power back.

When you were born, you started to give your power away through judgment.

The moment you began judging, you started giving your power away.

And you've been doing it all your life.

Why not take that power back to yourself?

That doesn't mean you have to stand on top of a mountain with your hands against your

hips and yell to everybody, "I AM THE POWER!"

You see?

It's not about that.

It's about not allowing anything or anyone to choose for you.

You choose.

You create your own choice.

And we assure you, we don't want your power, which is why we keep telling you to choose,

surprisingly enough.

And any individual, or organization, or society that says to you, "We will choose for you,"

that is an individual, organization, or society that is, in effect, trying to take your power

away from you.

You have an ability to say no.

There is a good practical tool for practical reality that we've given to humanity, and

practical tool #15 is "Learn to say no, know when to say yes, and use the words I choose."

Practice that and you will gain the power back to yourself.

- Inevitably, life will come to an end for all of us. - Will it?

- Well, life as we know it at this level.

- Ah, but you see, you could end that anytime.

All you have to do is stop believing in this illusion.

- But at this level, when things end, what becomes of the choices and the judgments that

are made?

Does it just dissolve into thin air?

- No!

You go through a process of reintegration and reevaluation with your soul essence, and

your whole existence is reviewed.

Not from the perspective of judgment - not to find out what you did that was right and

wrong, good or bad - simply from the perspective of how one choice led to another choice which

led to another choice.

And when that's reintegrated with soul essence, soul essence will extend itself and reincarnate

again.

It's that simple.

Your ego, your personality, will be gone, integrated with soul essence, and it'll

extend itself into a new, physical body - perhaps Tanya's child, chuckle, chuckle.

That would be fun, wouldn't it?

And then, as a result of that, you create a new ego, a new mind, and in that mind, there

will be a subconscious portion that will remain connected to soul essence, and all of the

experiences that soul essence has gleaned will be part of the subconscious portion of

the mind.

Do you see?

So in your subconscious mind, right now, is everything you've ever experienced as a

soul essence.

How's that, if that's not cool?

- Ah, it's so profound.

Dunedin District Court Judge Kevin Phillips has ordered the pair to stay away from each other for two years as they were sentenced for incest for the second time, the Otago Daily Times reports.

The 37-year-old New Zealand man's 23-year-old daughter was born after he had a sexual relationship with his foster mother when he was only 13 and she was 30.

The judge described their incest as 'very serious repeat offending which strikes at the heart of what the community would consider right and proper conduct'.

The father had little to do with his daughter when she was growing up but entered into a sexual relationship with her after they reunited in 2010 when she was 16.

They were first convicted in 2012 following the birth of their first child. The daughter gave birth to a second child in June 2013 but three months later, the baby died of sudden infant death syndrome, stuff.co.nz reported.

A DNA test concluded the incestuous father and daughter were the dead baby's biological parents.

They appeared in Dunedin District Court on Wednesday morning, with the father sentenced to six months community detention and two years' intensive supervision.

His daughter was sentenced to two years' intensive supervision. The pair had troubled upbringings marred by sexual and physical abuse.

Rick Peterson thinks he has the solution to the injuries that have plagued Mets pitchers - Duration: 6:16.

As a starting rotation the Mets collectively light up the radar gun like no one else in baseball. But do they need to dial down the velocity a bit to improve their chances of staying healthy?

The question has never been more timely, with four starters coming back in 2017 from some type of surgery, and the other, Noah Syndergaard, having established himself as the hardest-throwing starting pitcher in baseball.

Rick Peterson, the former Mets pitching coach and famous for years as being a student of biomechanics, says he believes the Mets' starters could benefit from easing off the gas pedal a bit in the interest of decreasing further injury risk.

"I'm sure that Syndergaard, for example, could dominate a game at 95-96 mph,'' Peterson says. "I'd like to see him try that because if he did dominate while throwing with maximum effort only occasionally, the way pitchers did in the past, he'd increase his chances of being on time with his delivery.''

Peterson believes that being "on time'' is the key to staying healthy, and he'll gladly explain what he means in exacting detail if you ask.

But first let's put this in some context: after making a name for himself as an innovative pitching coach/coordinator for the A's, Mets, and Orioles, in part because of what he learned about biomechanics in the performance lab of noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews, Peterson is making such observations from a distance at the moment.

Instead of coaching he's on the corporate speaking trail these days, after co-authoring a newly-published business/leadership book, but he is captivated by the saga of the Mets' young guns and where the story goes in 2017.

In fact, he sees them as something of a test case in an era when baseball is searching desperately for answers to try to keep pitchers healthy.

"I have every reason to think they'll bounce back from their injuries last year,'' Peterson said by phone on Tuesday. "But it's fascinating to me because by the nature of power pitching, the greater the power, the faster you move in time and space, and from a biomechanics standpoint, the more at risk of injury you are."

If that sounds ominous, it's because the Mets in some ways personify the new generation of pitchers that grew up trying to light up the radar gun by throwing with maximum effort, as opposed to past eras when adding and subtracting fastball velocity was more in vogue.

John Smoltz has talked a lot about that, telling me last year that he never threw with maximum effort, and believes that's why he avoided Tommy John surgery until he was in his 30s, despite throwing one of the nastiest sliders in the game.

Peterson believes in that theory as well, and how maxing-out makes it more difficult to, again, be "on time,'' which primarily refers to the position a pitcher's arm is in when his landing foot hits the ground.

Rick Peterson points out that Matt Harvey still had his stuff during his struggles in 2016, but his location was the issue.

(Kathy Willens/AP)

"When the timing is off, that's when a pitcher is at risk of injury,'' Peterson said. "Think about it this way: there's a point in time when the arm is fully externally rotated, and the next moment is when you begin the acceleration phase with your arm.

"There's a brief moment when the ball almost comes to a stop. From that moment until the ball comes of your hand, that ball — let's take Syndergaard — is then traveling to 99-100 mph in a time-frame of .02 seconds.

"I did a presentation on that once, and afterward a doctor of physics asked me, 'Do you know what means in G-Force?' He said if your entire body traveled at that rate of speed for over a minute, you would die.

"So when you talk about maxing out for an entire game, your timing is going to be off on multiple different pitches, and that's where the injury factor comes in.

"In Smoltz's day, a lot of guys pitched at 80 percent effort level, and you only saw their best fastball when the money was on the table.

"Pitchers today, to their credit, are strong enough and conditioned enough that they can pitch with the gas pedal down to the floor for the whole game, but the risk is in the timing.''

That's why Peterson would like to see the Mets' starters learn to pitch with less effort. In addition to reducing the risk of injury, he says it makes it easier for pitchers to hit their spots, which he says is what pitching at the major-league level is all about, regardless of velocity.

"Harvey's a great example,'' said Peterson. "When he was struggling last year, his stuff was still there. He just wasn't making pitches.

When you don't locate, you don't pitch well.''

Peterson says he always tried to teach that philosophy in the simplest way, citing a story he tells in his book, which is titled: "Crunch Time: How To Be Your Best When it Matters Most."

He recalled going to the mound as the A's pitching coach when ex-Met Jason Isringhausen was trying to close out playoff game with a 2-0 lead against the Yankees in 2001.

Isringhausen had given up a leadoff double to Bernie Williams and a walk to Tino Martinez, and Peterson went to talk to his pitcher just as Jason Giambi came over as well from first base.

Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom are No. 1 starters in Rick Peterson's eyes, and Steven Matz isn't far behind them.

(Howard Simmons/New York Daily News)

"I get out to the mound, I put my hand on Izzy's shoulder, and he's literally shaking. I said, 'Izzy are you ok?'

"He said, 'Rick, I can't feel my legs.'

"I said, 'OK, well, the good news is we don't need your legs to kick a field goal right now. Giambi starts laughing, Izzy smiles and you could feel the tension come out of him. I said, 'Hey Izzy, just hit the glove.

That's all, just hit the glove.' "

Isringhausen got the next three outs but Peterson said the point is that it's all about how you deliver the message to "re-frame'' the situation for pitchers dealing with stress.

"Sometimes it can be that simple: just hit the glove,'' Peterson said. "Syndergaard is a guy who can locate while pitching at max effort, but not a lot of guys can do that.

"Even so, I believe he could be just as effective if he learned to throw that 99-100 mph fastball maybe seven to 10 times a game, when the money is on the table, the way guys like Smoltz and Tom Seaver did during their day.

"And if he pitched at 94 to 96 the rest of the time, the likelihood is that he'd be on time with his mechanics at a higher percentage.''

In any case, Peterson said he hopes for the best for these Mets pitchers, partly because it reminds him of his days with the A's coaching the Big Three of Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, and Barry Zito.

"It's totally fascinating to me,'' he said. "With Syndergaard, Harvey, and deGrom, everybody wants to rank those guys. When I coached Hudson, Mulder, and Zito, people would ask me, 'Who's the best?'

"And my answer always was: 'Whoever's pitching that night.' And with the Mets, (Steven) Matz isn't too far from being a No. 1, and Wheeler still has that potential. I'm just hoping they can stay healthy. I love watching them pitch."

SEE IT: Rod Stewart appears to have had a few drinks too many before Scottish Cup draw - Duration: 1:37.

There's reason to believe Rod Stewart may have had a few drinks at the Scottish Cup draw.

Stewart was on hand to watch his favorite soccer team, Celtic, move on to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup and he was later invited to make the draw for the next round. The singer's task was to reach into a hole in a table and pull out a rubber ball.

The "Maggie May" singer, who was decked out in a jacket complete with a leopard print scarf, appeared to have one too many and got pretty animated.

Former soccer player, Alan Stubbs, did his best to hold in his laughter as Stewart's task became comical.

"Number four!" Stewart screamed after swan-diving his hand into the hole in the table and grabbing a ball with a number on it. He would continue shouting each number at the camera as he drew a ball while giggling and smiling the entire time.

Each ball drawn helped determined which each team would play next.

When Stewart pulled Celtics number he took a brief moment to compose his excitement. The next ball set up a matchup with Inverness CT.

Celtic will compete again on the weekend of Feb. 11 and 12 against Inverness in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

(Ian MacNicol/Getty Images)

At the end of the video when all the matches were set, Stewart slicked his hair back, stared at the camera awkwardly, and leaned into Alan McRae while failing to shake his hand.

Celtic will compete again on the weekend of Feb. 11 and 12 while many will hope Stewart can someday entertain again during the draw.

Chelsea Handler won't have Melania Trump on her show because 'she can barely speak English' - Duration: 1:43.

Melania Trump isn't welcome on Chelsea Handler's Netflix show — because the comedian wouldn't be able to understand her.

Handler wouldn't interview the First Lady on "Chelsea" because "she can barely speak English," she told Variety at the Sundance Film Festival.

"I don't respect either one of those people," she said about the Trumps.

The First Lady, who grew up in Yugoslavia, speaks Slovene, English, French, Serbian and German.

Chelsea Handler said she won't interview Melania Trump because "she can barely speak English."

This isn't the first time Handler has taken shots at Trump's accent.

"Trump said Melania will give two or three more speeches," the comedian tweeted on Oct. 28. "Hopefully an interpreter will be present."

"Tim Kaine delivered a speech entirely in Spanish. Still easier to understand than Melania," she wrote on Nov. 4.

Handler led the Women's March in Park City during the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday.

Handler, an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter during the presidential election, said she was going to register as an independent because "it isn't working, this two-party system."

"That's what I'm going to make my agenda about: educating anyone I can while also getting educated," she told Variety.
