War With US Becoming A "Practical Reality" Chinese Military Warns - Duration: 4:35.War With US Becoming A Practical Reality Chinese Military Warns.
(ZHE) In the harshest warning yet that China is actively contemplating a worst case scenario
for its diplomatic relations with the US, a senior Chinese military official said that
a war within the presidents term or war breaking out tonight are not
just slogans, they are becoming a practical reality. The remarks, first reported by
the SCMP, were published on the Peoples Liberation Army website in response to the
escalating rhetoric towards China from Americas new administration, and as Beijing braces
itself for a possible deterioration in Sino-US ties, with a particular emphasis on maritime
security. The commentary written by an official at the
national defence mobilisation department in the Central Military Commission which
has overall authority of Chinas armed forces also called for a US rebalancing of its
strategy in Asia, military deployments in the East and South China Seas and the instillation
of a missile defence system in South Korea were hot spots getting closer to ignition.
The Peoples Liberation Army, quoted by SCMP, said in a commentary on its official
website last Friday, the day of Trumps inauguration, that the chances of war have
become more real amid a more complex security situation in Asia Pacific.
Chinas sabre-rattling then peaked earlier last week, following an unconfirmed report
that Chinas military moved long range ICBM closer to the north east border in Heilongjiang
province, within firing range of the US. As reported here, Chinese social media carried
pictures claiming to show the Dongfeng-41 advanced intercontinental ballistic missile
system near the Russian border. Provocative state-run tabloid The Global Times
suggested the Peoples Liberation Army could have leaked the photos on social media as
a warning to Mr Trump. However, Chinese President Xi Jinping has also recently called for the
reduction of nuclear weapons.
The most recent deterioration in US-Sino diplomacy follow a statement by Trump spokesman Sean
Spicer who told a press conference on Monday that the US would prevent China from taking
over territory in international waters in the South China Sea. Spicer told the press
the US is going to make sure that we protect our interests there, when asked about US
President Donald Trumps position on the South China Sea. Its a question of if
those islands are in fact in international waters and not part of China proper, then
yeah, were going to make sure that we defend international territories from being taken
over by one country, he said. Foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying
responded by telling the US to be cautious in what it says and does, so as to avoid harming
the peace and stability in the region. The Chinese military is constantly prepared
for possible military conflict whoever serves as US president, but Donald Trumps possible
extreme approach against China was dangerous, according to analysts.

Ian Storey, a senior fellow at ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore, said some of
the comments from Trumps key advisors and appointees suggest that the US may pursue
a more hardline policy against Beijing in the South China Sea over the next four years.
As its highly unlikely that China will compromise its sovereignty claims in the face
of US pressure, we can be sure that the dispute will increasingly become a risky point of
contention between Beijing and Washington, he said.
The comments come as President Xi Jinping is overseeing massive reforms within Chinas
military to improve its fighting capabilities. A huge reshuffle is also underway in the militarys
top brass. Vice-Admiral Shen Jinlong, commander of the South Sea Fleet, is to replace retiring
Admiral Wu Shengli as chief of the PLA Navy.

The Usage of an Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN) - Duration: 5:27.This video will educate you on the usage of the advance beneficiary notice of noncoverage,
also known as an ABN.
You must issue an ABN when you expect Medicare may deny payment for an item or service due
to one of the following:
The item or service is not considered medically reasonable and necessary for a particular
patient in a particular instance, or The care being provided is considered
custodial care.
An ABN related to hospice care is required due to one of the following:
The beneficiary does not meet Medicare's "terminally ill" definition, and hospice
services are still going to be provided.
The hospice level of care is not reasonable and necessary to manage the beneficiary's
terminal illness, and hospice services are still going to be provided at that level of
care.
Items and services are being billed separately from the hospice payment, such as physician
services and are not considered reasonable and necessary.
If the services are considered reasonable and necessary, an ABN is not required.
Home Health Agencies must issue an ABN for patients that are not homebound, or do not
require skilled nursing care on an intermittent basis.
An ABN is also required for Outpatient Physical Therapy services performed on or after January
1, 2013 when the services are in excess of the therapy cap amounts and do not qualify
for a therapy cap exception.
Common reasons that Medicare is likely to deny items or services as not medically reasonable
and necessary include: Care that is considered experimental and/or
investigational or "research only".
The service is not indicated for diagnosis and/or treatment in the beneficiary's specific
case.
The service is not safe or effective.
Medicare has been billed for a quantity greater than allowed in a specific period
for the beneficiaries corresponding diagnosis.
To prevent unnecessary denials and ensure you are issuing an ABN when necessary you
should familiarize yourself with the National Coverage Determinations and Local Coverage
Determinations.
Medicare providers are not required to issue an ABN when the item or service is never covered
because it is statutorily excluded from coverage or in most cases when care is provided but
fails to meet a technical benefit requirement.
For example, the service requires certification and certification was not obtained.
However, an ABN may be issued as a voluntary notice to assist the beneficiary in making
an informed decision.
Some examples of statutorily excluded items and services include: personal comfort items,
routine physicals, foot, eye and dental care, and cosmetic surgery.
In addition, services that fail to meet a technical benefit requirement are also considered
excluded.
Those may include: ambulance service provided that is beyond the nearest appropriate facility
or self-administered drugs and biologicals.
A voluntary ABN serves as a courtesy to the beneficiary in forewarning them of a potential
financial obligation.
If a voluntary ABN is issued the beneficiary should not be asked to choose an option box
or sign the notice.
Providers are not required to bill Medicare in these cases.
Instead you may bill the beneficiary directly unless they have a supplemental insurer who
requires a denial from Medicare.
If the beneficiary does require a Medicare denial, you should submit the claim to Medicare
with the GY modifier.
We will discuss Modifiers in a later video.
In order to determine if a service falls within a non-covered benefit under Medicare, access
the Medicare Physician Fee schedule tool located on the National Government Services Website.

Surviving an ISIS Truck Bomb in Mosul | Battle for Iraq | FRONTLINE - Duration: 4:20.>> NARRATOR: A local family has
agreed to let Ghaith and the
soldiers spend the night in
their house.
They are a mile back from the
front line, and feel safe.
But they're wrong.
The war is about to come to
them.
>> ABDUL-AHAD: I wake up early
in the morning.
I went outside to the street.
And I saw the soldier across
the street from me, and he
shouted, "Mufakhkhakha!
Mufakhkhakha!"
"Car bomb, car bomb!"
This is the other entrance of
the building.
>> Yes.
Get it quickly.
(gunshots)
>> NARRATOR: An ISIS truck bomb
has exploded a few feet in
front of the house where Ghaith
and the soldiers spent the
night.
The house has collapsed.
Ghaith immediately starts
filming.
He finds the soldier who warned
him.
(gunfire)
>> NARRATOR: ISIS gunmen are now
trying to pick off the soldiers,
who fire back.
>> ABDUL-AHAD: We were in the
middle of this huge scene of
carnage.
Everything is this dark, black,
grey, mixture of concrete and
burnt plastic, puddles of water,
debris, burnt Humvees.
Then the civilians start
emerging from the collapsed
houses.
>> NARRATOR: Ghaith's colleague
and producer, Josh Baker, has
dug himself out of the rubble.
He will later discover he has a
fractured spine.
(children crying)
>> NARRATOR: No soldiers have
been killed.
The civilians have borne the
brunt of the attack.
Several are feared dead under
the debris.
Those that survived are now
homeless.
(gunfire in background)
>> NARRATOR: The soldiers think
the attack was meant to kill
"Steel," Lieutenant Colonel
Munthadar.
>> ABDUL-AHAD: I think that day,
we realized the complexity of
the battle.
The civilians are still there.
This is a battle happening
between two enemies on a land
inhabited by the civilians.
No one knows how many civilians
have been killed in this battle
of Mosul, not even the
government of Iraq.

Vine in a Tree | Snake City - Duration: 2:20.Nice early morning call.
Guy phones, he's got a vine snake up in a tree.
Takes me a little while to actually spot it,
they blend in so well.
It basically looks like a branch or a stick or a vine,
hence the name vine snake.
You've got him now, yeah?
Oh, you have got him now.
Passing him down.
Yeah, I've only got one glove, you got one glove on your hand.
I'm trying to I can't--
oh, oh.
OK, take her, yeah.
Hang on, hang on, hang on.
Got it?
Quite high up, but yeah.
It's a real bonus for us to catch this vine snake today.
We don't catch them all the time.
In a season we might catch six, maybe eight.
A beautiful specimen, and in very, very good condition.
One of their threatening stances,
he's doing it right now.
It's that flattened neck.
You see it puffing out?
Look at the throat now.
Yeah, you freaked him out.
Make himself look bigger.
Makes yourself look intimidating to somebody
else or another animal.
Fortunately though, they are quite reluctant to bite,
unless you really upset one and really mess with it
and try to hurt it or kill it, then
it will turn around and bite.
Their venom is a serious hemotoxin.
Yeah, if you are bitten by one of these,
it's blood transfusions.
So it's hospital, and they'll dilute your blood
until you come right.
Should I get you a pillowcase?
Yeah, do you want to get me a pillowcase?
Yeah, I'll go and get one.
Down.
Cool.
Brilliant, thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, well done, thanks.
Cheers.
I think we should release this snake straight away
before another call comes in.
You know, it's always fun catching snakes,
although it can be dangerous.
The best part is actually releasing them knowing
that you've taken them away from that dangerous area
where it could have been harmed or it could have hurt someone.
And now we're going to put them where there isn't any one.
This is perfect.
Beautiful.
It's stunning.
It's far enough away.
I'm gonna put it in this tree.
There you go, little fella.
Stunning.
Definitely one of my favorites.
Shall we go?
Let's get back.
Cool.
Come on, then.

From start to finish: An exclusive look at the making of the 2016 Census. - Duration: 3:56.Data moves us forward – that's why we at Statistics Canada work hard to ensure our census is a success.
And with the reinstatement of the long-form census, we're expecting even more community data to come our way!
2016 marked the 350th anniversary of the first census!
We've always believed in adapting ourselves to the way Canadians do things:
starting in 2006, the online questionnaire was introduced as a secure and convenient response option.
2016 also saw the return of the mandatory long-form census.
Canadians have never been so enthusiastic
The collection response rate for the long form was 97.8 per cent, the best ever recorded.
So, what does it take to organize a national census for a country as large as Canada?
Well, its highly complex. Among other things, it involves determining the questions to identify how data needs have changed from 2011.
Should our materials be designed differently?
Do we need new questions?
Public consultation and the testing of census questions are two key activities that occur in the lead-up to the census.
You helped us make sure our census was clear and easy to complete.
The next big challenge is the printing, assembly and mail-out of census packages to almost 16 million dwellings.
8,212 documents were prepped every hour!
Between May and July 2016, we recruited roughly 35,000 employees from across the country to help Canadians complete their census."
At our call center, 200,000 interviews were completed by phone,
1 million calls were answered by our automated system and 2 million calls were made to our Census Help Line.
In the communities across the country, census enumerators worked just as hard, visiting close to 4 million homes during the 2016 Census.
On May 11th alone, 34,080 calls came into our Census Help Line in one day!
Next, we track the questionnaires and responses, and process millions of answers in a very short time.
By the end of September, our database is full of Canadians' information and the community data begins to take shape.
Come February, this data is released in multiple waves, each at 8:30 a.m.
After our analysts verify and validate the data, they process the information into a variety of fun, interactive formats such as maps, infographics, and videos–
so you can easily see what's relevant to you. Highlights are also shared with you via our social media accounts.
Once the data is released, our analysts face a busy day of media interviews, and for a good reason: this data changes everything.
It is used to guide a variety of public services and social programs such as schools, housing, transportation, and many more. In other words, it directly impacts you!
The census gives us vital insight into Canada's demographics, letting us better understand who we are, and where we're going.
Data keeps us informed. And when you lead the way, we all move forward.
Your census. Your neighbourhood. Your future.

Fine Art Tips with Lynn Gertenbach on Colour In Your Life - Duration: 24:00.G'day viewers, my name's Graeme Stevenson, and I'd like to invite you to come on a
journey of creativity and learning and adventure through the series Colour In Your Life.
There's an Artist in every family throughout the world.
Lots of times there's an Artist deep down inside all of us as well.
So grab your kids, your brothers, your sisters, your aunties, uncles and
mums and dads and come and see how some of the best Artists do what they do.
(Music Plays)
(Graeme) Well hi folks, and welcome back to Colour In Your Life. Well, we are in Fallbrook,
in California, on the very beautiful property - looking behind me, this is what we're
going to be painting today. And I'm with an amazing Artist, who is just a
brilliant landscape Artist, portrait Artist, seascape Artist. Lyn
Gertenbach, (Lynn) Hi. (Graeme) welcome to the show. How are you? (Lynn) Great, great.
(Graeme) Thank you so much for having us on this absolutely amazing property of yours. Now you
have a really interesting story and a really interesting history about your
work. It goes back to when you were a child, and literally your dad
used to pose for you when you were a kid. (Lynn) Oh, he did. (Graeme) And as you grew your
teacher recognised when you were a small girl the potential that you had as an Artist.
And you literally went through till - you started this amazing
adventure as a young woman, and started traveling the world as an
Artist and going to India for a start. Can you tell me a bit about that?
(Lynn) Yeah, I had an uncle who was over studying
down at Fallbright studying Sanskrit language and his, his
he lived with my grandmother, and I saw all sorts of things from India. And I think that's where I
first got inspired to go, and I just was an
adventure nut I guess, so I went around the world
alone when I was twenty-one. (Graeme) So it's been a fascinating journey
to say the least. But you really discovered Plein Air Art a little while back as well
and feel in love with that too. And you've been on the front cover of a number of the major Art
magazines in America - American Artist, for a start. And
have become a very successful Plein Air Artist. I mean when you see this ladies work, you'll perfectly
understand what I'm saying. But we're going to be actually painting on your
property on your lake, in this beautiful, beautiful
setting today, and gonna put a piece together that really represents what we
see behind us.
(Graeme) So Lynn, what type of paints
do you use when you're putting these Plein Air pieces together? (Lynn) Well I like
a combination of paint, but I mostly use Gamblin
and I love their radiant white. And then I
wanted to talk about how I can carry paints
outside and do Plein Air without taking every tube in my
whole studio. And I limited to six to eight
colors and then mix them. So I have like for an example,
I'll use two yellows, actually
four if you count Yellow Ocher and Golden Ocher.
And then I use two reds, two blues,
and two greens. So that pretty much does it
for what I need, and the rest can be mixed. But I do
take Viridian and mix it with a little Phthalo Green to
intensify the strength of it. But that color has to be used
sparingly, but I do find it really works well when you're
mixing down a warm, and then it creates a wonderful
cool - so I could go in and start now. And
I'm going top mix a little bit of the Cerulean
Blue and I'm going to mix a little bit of that with the
Hansa Yellow. And so basically I have a lot
of colors on my palette as you can see. I just don't believe in being stingy with
color; you got to start with a lot. I guess I learned that from my Russian
teachers Sir Gable and Gaurd. And what I'm gonna do is start with a
Sap Green, which is a transparent, and maybe
a little bit of transparent Red Oxide.
These are two colors when mix together is the darkest
dark you'll need. But I'm going to use this to
do my lay-in sketch with. I've kind of roughed it out and
let me explain that I never start a canvas
without the third division: it's known as the Golden
Mean. You create a composition
by following those divisions that
doesn't ever go off the canvas. If I just went x x
x, and didn't draw these in - the division of third,
I could possibly have two paintings. And I could have one
painting constructed over here and another here. So this, if I'm
conscious of that third, then I'm going to
have to put something on these little
area here which intersects them, and that really
is gonna cause the composition to stay together. At least I found
so, so I don't like starting a canvas without it. Now I've
got a big canoe in there - a red canoe which could take over, so
I'm going to kind of push it up to the top and
angle it. And I'm going to just barely
sketch because in oils I find I do my detail
as I'm painting. (Graeme) I can see on the back of your canvas, on top
of your canvas, that you've got a wash of a color anyway. You've already
washed that. (Lynn) Oh, I forgot to mention I tone my canvases
to get rid of the stark white, although sometimes when I'm doing a wash
it's to my disadvantage, but I really prefer a toned
canvas, cause then it's like a mid-ground. Probably comes from my years
as a Pastelist, when I used Mi Teintes or Canson toned
paper. But I will get into this, it's
an indication of big shapes here
you know, I'll refine as I go. (Graeme) You're just really roughing it in
(Lynn) Oh, very rough. (Graeme) in many senses, yeah. (Lynn) Yeah, in fact so rough that
somebody goes "what are you painting?" - little kids. (Graeme) You've gone
from pastels to watercolors to
oils (Lynn) Yeah. (Graeme) and in those travels, I mean you really fell in love with oils
when you went to India. I think one of them (Lynn) Actually, the
group of painters I traveled with were watercolorists, (Graeme) Okay. (Lynn) but
I picked up oils. I just loved the fact that
everything that you could do with them. Now I'm gonna lay in a few
shadow patterns that will set the tone
ah,
and then I may use a wash, because that can be
manoeuvred a little bit easier. And then I'm going to show a part
of the shore line, (Graeme) Aha. (Lynn) and it'll begin
to start to take shape, believe it or not. It's doubtful in
the begining, but it will happen. So I keep my cools
to the left side since I'm a right handed painter, and the big
pile of white and little piles so that I have some to
premix with, without getting the white
soiled with any other colors. Then all the warms up here
and there a method to it. I have the lightest colors next to the white because
some people will take their purple and put it next to the white. If any
of that gets in the white, your white is gone. So I'll mix up some colors
through the, you see that everything has to
relate: color is harmony. So for an example that boat
even though it's a red canoe, but it's gonna have some
water reflected in it, some green. I'm not gonna want to paint a
bright red boat because it's gonna just stand out, like cut
out, so I'm gonna mix that down a little
with some green. I'm gonna
lay in some of the transparent shadows,
after which they'll be adjusted
as well. Actually what I'll do is
wipe out some of the light areas, but in order to get a clean
layer I'm going to
disregard what the details are and just go in
to laying the whole thing in. (Graeme) And I was just looking before
hand that you lay your palette out, you mix all your colors
before hand, instead of just dragging bits and pieces out as you go along, which is a
much better (Lynn) Yeah. (Graeme) way to control it. (Lynn) I do that, it's just a
help, especially when I'm working on large surfaces.
And also, I think I'm borrowing that leaves from that plant
(Graeme) Aha. (Lynn) and moving it over. That's what Artists can do; we can move mountains.
(Graeme) It's called Lynn Gertenbach artistic licensing.
(Lynn) Yeah. (Graeme) So tell me a little bit more about a very famous
sitar player, (Lynn) Oh. (Graeme) he was a great friend of yours, Mr
Ravi Shankar. (Lynn) That was a wonderful experience, he became a really
good friend. The second time I went to India I
went specifically to join his school which is called
the Cinara School of Music, in what was Bombay, now
Mumbai. And my sister studied sitar and he was
such a generous person that he gave her one of his sitars.
And I studied Indian music, theory, vocal, classical vocal
music and learned a lot about ragas and so on.
I studied flute as well, Indian Flute but onto
painting now, I painted portraits of
Ravi, and at one of my exhibitions the one that he
met Subin Mehta at, because we were friends as well. He
decided his record producer from World Pacific
decided to put one of my portraits of Ravi Shanka on an album,
so that was a real honour. In fact he even asked me what
fonts I wanted on there so that was so fun. (Graeme) Fantastic
story and what an amazing man as well. (Lynn) Oh, he really was.
So I'm going to add a few rocks.
I'll put the light reflections on after I've laid the
wash on. So this is all a process, it's kinda
fun playing with water. There's so many ways to
approach painting upon - that's what's fun about it.
You can either go into washes or go into
abstract shapes. There's a lot of abstract shapes
because there's a lot of reflections in the water,
and everything will take on different tones
as I go. Here will be sunlight hitting it,
which I'm surmising will happen.
I could go into intricate
detail about color, however every color
has a value and values are the underlying basic strength
of any painting. In fact a lot of times people get
so infatuated with Impressionism that they get into color
and they forget value. I was one of them. I was a strong value
painter in my early days and then I discovered Monet and
Impressionists, and I got into color and
all of a sudden my paintings became flat, because I wasn't conscious of the,
every color has value. So what I have my students do is I give them
a grey scale underneath their color so they can see what
the value of every color is. I use a glass palette so it's
easy to scrape clean with a glass cleaner, and then
you can also put things under it that you need for
for reference. So I am gonna put light
right now, very simple light and dark area on these
rocks. (Graeme) You've also got a real love of portraiture as well.
(Lynn) Oh, yes. (Graeme) And I just wanted to talk about some of the Indian ones that you
have done. (Lynn) Years ago, I did a lot more society portraits.
I've done Eva Gabor, Tippi Hendra and a lot of
people and Zubin Mehta, and he was the orchestra leader for the LA
Philharmonic. (Graeme) Yeah. (Lynn) And then I was asked
to join Plein Air Painters of America, back in 1986
at its inception. And then I though, Oh I better hurry up
and get outside and paint some landscapes, because I was really green
at it. And when I did I discovered I love being outside
with the birds, the bugs - that's another story. But we use these
dryer sheets called Bounce in our back pockets (Graeme) Aha. (Lynn) and it helps
keep the bug, bugs away. (Graeme) You've got some great - I'll just go through
some of the titles, Autumn Colors is a beautiful piece.
And then the Sentinels. which is funny enough Australian
gum trees living in California, with (Lynn) I noticed that. (Graeme) California poppies.
Yeah. (Lynn) They say that you know, they started removing some of them
after this drought from up at Peter Strauss Ranch,
and they said that they weren't native, they're from Australia.
(Graeme) Yeah. (Lynn) How dare they do that, they're ours now, and we can
clean them. I started with some of the dark shapes that looks
a bit spotty now, but it's going to grow from here. At least I do
recall where my transition lines of thirds, divisions are,
so everything will fall within that, those cross sections.
And I've of course got a bright red boat here, which I'm gonna
have to balance with a large shape of some sort there
on the lower right or, I can think in terms of
gallon, quart and pint, which is like the large shape
would be the gallon, and a quart, pint would balance that,
so placed near it. So I'm gonna
get in the shape of this
and then it's got a reflection.
(Graeme) So, Lynn, you've achieved some amazing things
in your career but there must have been influences that you know, came before
where you are now. Can you tell me who some of those people have been, on that journey? (Lynn) Oh, yeah,
my teachers. That's why I love to teach so much because
I feel nows the time to give back, and I received so much personal
instruction. And probably one of the outstanding teachers I
had was my high school Art teacher Edith Niblow, and after
that she helped me win two Scholarships.
One was to the Colorado Institute of Art which I went to first,
and John Jellico was the owner proprietor,
and he was just a powerhouse of
knowledge. He lived in Taos, New Mexico, with Charlie Dye, Nocoli
Effasion, Leon Gespard and all the greats of that period,
he influenced us all. We all loved Nicoli Effasion,
he's a great Russian Master who moved to Taos, and
begin painting heads. But there's so many schools of
painting. I started our with very classic style painting
and Rembrandt lighting and all; then moved into
a more impressionist color. So there's been you know, changes
over the years and at one point I
worked in semi abstract painting for
a couple of years and just experimented with it.
But it didn't really suit me so I went back to classic
realism, Impressionism, which is what I'm doing now.
Well I've laid in the boat and now I have
to balance the composition and as you can see it's kind of
circular, and then I'm going to start laying in some of
the light that's reflected on the pond.
And we've got some shadows of trees up above,
so it's a decision now finding the shadow
patterns and where to put them. (Graeme) We've got some other pieces
that you've done of garden ponds which I think are quiet beautiful. There's one that you've simply
just named Garden Pond, and you can see the water lilies across that as well.
And then, My Pond, which is water lilies in the
afternoon - both really, really beautiful pieces. And you can see the way that
you've juxtaposed the lilies with the reflection on the water, that turns out quite spectacular.
(Lynn) You know, I'm waiting for my lilies to grow here. I planted
a bunch of them and the turtles ate em. Now I've got to find the turtles and
place those somewhere else. (Graeme) Okay. There's another piece you've got called
Santuary, which is a beautiful painting of the sunset, setting over the water; it's
really a spectacular piece. (Lynn) You know, did that from a small six by
eight Plein Air study, because when there's a change of day,
the sunrise or sunset, I find I have to work very
quickly and capture the mood and color first, and then the
details I do later in the studio. (Graeme) I suppose that would be fairly
similar to the piece Twilight on the Lake. (Lynn) Oh, Twilight
on the Lake, yeah. Boy, I love those times of
challenging times of day. And also, I love painting fog
and mist, and anything that challenges
me. After painting for a while you really
need new challenges, and it's always good to do
that. You'd be surprised how much you have in your own back yard for subject matter;
you can always find things to paint. Of course I choose a good
backyard. (Graeme) Yeah, absolutely you did. You don't get much better that this.
(Lynn) So I often like to stand back from my paintings to analyse the composition
and it tells me
then what I need to do. Okay,
so I'll come back in and
just adjust the paint and colors and
the values here. (Graeme) Now you're involved in some other Art associations
in the area as well. Is that correct, Lynn? (Lynn) Yeah,
yes, I'm just new to Barbara here, so I joined the Barbara Garden
Art Association - a wonderful way to get to know other Artists. And then
I am a member, a signature member of the California Art
Club, Plein Air Painters of America, American Impressionism Society
and the Oil Painters of America, actually. (Graeme) Fantastic, you're
obviously a busy girl then, if that's the case. (Lynn) I am busy, yeah.(Graeme) And one of the other things that you
are doing, is you're going to be doing Plein Air workshops and classes
in your beautiful new home. I mean you really couldn't get (Lynn) Yeah. (Graeme) a better
spot to do that. (Lynn) Very soon, very soon I'll be doing that, so anyone
interested to go to www
lynn gertenbach art dot com, (Graeme) Yep. (Lynn) and
you're welcome to e-mail me at lynn gertenbach at aol dot
com. (Graeme) Yeah, if anyone wants to come along it's a beautiful setting, and Tim and
Lynn are just a lovely, lovely couple. So I think this would be a perfect place
to sit down and enjoy the skills of a wonderful Master Artist like yourself.
(Lynn) The fun part about painting Plein Air is that
you, you discover as you go. It's kind of like a
journey. I love to work with water and use a pallette
knife for highlights. I'm not going to ever going to use white, pure white on this,
but I like to mix down the blue and white,
add a little green, add a touch of red to just tone it a little.
And then I add it up along here with just a
tick, because if I put it too strong or too
much of this. (Graeme) Yeah. (Lynn) Then I like to work with vertical
strokes on the water as much as possible,
because it's amazing what a transparent with that
it ends up having when you do that. I could just take pure
either of the Gamsol mix or just
the medium and just drag the brush
down so it gets a much more wet look. And then when you
tick the light blue on it,
it gives it that very wet look, like you've created a surface.
So I am going to get it, this part, kind of
established, and then I noticed that there's
also some reflection
of the grass down in the water there. (Graeme) And obviously with
the relationship to water you've got the big surf piece which is beautiful
with the Bixby Bridge. And then Moss Cove as well, which is another beautiful
seascape as well. They're both wonderful pieces. (Lynn) Well thank you, I
love painting the California Coast. (Graeme) And over the last
few decades you've won thirty gold medals for your
exceptional work; that's pretty extraordinary. (Lynn) Well, I actually
I remember one fun time down at
Juan Capistrano, where it was the first year we had a Plein Air painting
at the mission. And Jonna
Smith who owns the museum there, gave me the first prize
award. And I told, and l later actually
decided that I would go out and buy land, and she was so pleased
because she'd brought a lot of land. She really liked
that. So I did. I used it for the down payment on the land
out in the back that I own. (Graeme) A wise decision. (Lynn) So it was fun just
you know, participating in that. (Graeme) Yeah. (Lynn) So now,
over the years it was with the California Art Club,
and back in seventy-five, on up to
the present, I'm a world member. (Graeme) Yeah.
(Lynn) But it's just been a wonderful
journey. It's amazing how time flies but
you don't realise it when you're a painter. You think you, you know,
you're still thirty years old. (Graeme) It's a bit
like that isn't it? (Lynn) Yeah, cause life is
always a journey. (Graeme) Alright, Lynn, that's been a fantastic day
and a magnificent piece of work, and thank you so much for having us in your beautiful home and
spending some time with us today. (Lynn) Oh thank you, Graeme. It's been such a joyous
day.
(Graeme) Okay guys, a fantastic day.
Thank you so much, Lynn, (Lynn) Thank you, Graeme. (Graeme) with our pleasure. (Lynn) It's been fun. (Graeme) You've got a
beautiful home and we've had a fantastic day here. Now if people want to come along and do your
workshops, what is your website address again? (Lynn) Lynn gertenbach art
dot com. (Graeme) And Lynn has some fantastic DVD's on her website,
so make sure you go in there and have a look as well. And also, come in
to colour in our life dot com dot au, and come and see us as well.
And also, Facebook and YouTube - we've got some great things going on in here also.
But as we always say, until we meet again - remember: make sure you
put some color in your life, and we'll see you again guys. Bye now.
Bye.

5 Outfits for Travel - How to Dress for an Airplane - Duration: 11:38.these are brought out this for airplane
travel that are either going to inspire
you to shop your closet or shop the
links below that i have i want you to
think of three things when you're
watching this youtube video one
why would I wear this piece of clothing
for me i know i'm going to over eat on
vacation so I walk pants that are not
constricting I want flowy tops or
address that i can wear and be
comfortable in comfort might be your one
thing you're one priority number two is
this a multitasker or a unit ask her
piece of clothing can you only wear it
once then you might not want to take it
on your vacation because it's going to
take up space in your suitcase
unnecessarily and number three what can
i do on vacation with these pieces of
clothing
can I walk around all day for miles and
mouth
can I go to nice restaurants every night
can I be with the kids cannot bend over
and those on and show
can I shop till I drop cannot carry
everything that i need peace but those
are things are going to be thinking
about while you're watching my youtube
video my name is Lori and I make youtube
videos about fashion ideas and beauty
idea that popped into my head travel
ideas that popped into my head home
ideas that popped into my head so thanks
for popping over
ok so i started off with a swim cover
this is my rock seat and you can see
that it does not have a back so there is
no way I would never wish this around
town just by itself without a Cardian
but for travel i thought the perfect
length it goes 3 inches past my fingers
but when a whole arms down again three
inches past messing your hips and that
is great for wearing a tunic with or a
dress with leggings let me see how we
dresses i just love it
it hangs right it's made of 100-percent
this goes i will link it below that you
can see that this has like a burgundy
pink in a show episodes where my dark
brown color
holden and that way you don't have to
pack them ok ok you know if you are
never going to wear those blue leggings
on your trip
why take them where something that
you're going to actually we're at your
destination like these skinny jeans
I'm gonna wear this sweater another day
on vacation I might wear it over white
top and graphic t-shirt or migrate Iraq
under which is what I'm gonna showcase
you for the next outfit
hey then I next outfit is this extender
it's my easel and i will link it below
you can find it on amazon so that's the
best part you can wear this extender so
many ways i love the length of it look
how far it is past my fingertips so i
can wear it alone with just leggings i
can wear it with a little t-shirt on top
i can also wear it with like a long
tunics like this that is not quite long
enough to be worn with just letting
because look the front of it comes right
there to the ruffle they have all
different colors so cute little car
bonus to make it come together you're
traveling in a car or go into a
restaurant you can put the little scarf
around your arm if you're cold but i
love it was this a lot of this lipgloss
you can wear this with some comfrey
leggings underneath or long leggings
underneath and you can wear with any
shoes anyway so I like that got the
great to begin with because it goes with
mustard because with white it goes with
denim denim jacket looks really good on
it
I this is how scrunchie this material is
see how crunchy and is and it hangs
right it doesn't clean when you move is
going to move its when you've been over
its ok you do want to have leggings
under
me that I think well I'm 58 so this is
how long and come on me being I love
these leggings they are so fitted
because they call so hot baby
consecutive job of sucking you in
while compressing your face like when
I'm trying to decide my legs I cannot
even make an indention so tight is
scaring and I don't have a problem is
precise everyone almost every day anyway
it's something crazy before especially
for long-haul flight i'm going to have
compression leggings compression socks
or something that you can wear under a
work outfit or under jeans even what i'm
gonna do is i'm wearing jeans I love
these compression socks because you can
change the pattern they have some funky
pattern that nobody's ever going to see
you
so we've got the leggings we got the
capri leggings and we got the
compression socks so I am stuff for a
long half-life but I can't do anything
last 11 hours because i would go crazy
right through these pants from target
you've gotta check these out this is a
size medium and there is something about
material they are so light weight
perfect for travel and the best part is
they have the elastic waist and that you
can toppings you can tucking him the
best part is you can wear plain t-shirts
that are going to cover just the
waistband a little bit or hang down and
you looked totally fun where these three
days in a week long trip with a
different colored shirt and boom you
save so let's face in your suitcase you
can front up the little legging part
down here they're called joggers okay
and they're so expensive in so many
stores when we were in Italy about five
years ago I thought oh my word to bring
him back parachute pants and I said I
will never wear a parachute pants but
these are going on vacation with me this
summer i've often
for the tags off immediately y'all hain
right in the back you can sit you can
lay down you can get rained on and they
will drive so fast i highly recommend
these i will link them below they are
not on amazon but they are on target now
we'll leave them below and while you're
below thumbs-up me and the material of
the Tigers is 100-percent lyocell
supposed to wash it before you wear it
this is the Massimo brands from target i
love how these pants are drapey they are
flowy this grain can be green it can be
a neutral color for you and it will go
with so many different colors tops
another foundational piece for travel
outfit is colored jeans now I have these
black jeans and also have a pair of
olive green jeans from Los i will link
them both below you can see now I'm 58
and we're in Los and they do both
through the black ones you can wear the
graphic t have a cardigan always cold
I like these black jeans they are
definitely think that they are so
stretchy really i highly recommend them
I love the shiplap graphic t-shirt i
will link some of those below love
projecting that bottle people as you're
walking through the airport and you'd be
surprised at how many conversations come
up just for wearing this cute little
shirt black beans are a great place to
have they can go with several things on
your final destination they will not get
dirty
they don't show dust very much anyway
they're a great foundation piece for
wherever you're going on your
destination now you just have to buy a
vacation box okay for my number clown
outfit piece for travel
I have this top this is always be in
this room for this because it
is Navy it is not black and sometimes on
video or pictures it looks black
I love this it is three quarterly please
i want you to see how firm butt shake it
is i love this shirt
the front is like a stiffer material
that does not cling and hangs correctly
and the back is a knit ok that does not
clean this is a plea on the shirt and
you can find them at northshore but you
can also find them on amazon and i will
link that link to these types shirts
below
okay look how long it is and i bought
eight and look how long it is it almost
comes to the bottom of my fingers
it was great with countries it was great
with jeans you can tuck it in because it
hangs out right it looks great with
developing us if it's been that has
structure
ok those are great qualities for travel
outfit unlike 58 and I wear a medium in
this look how long it is and it can go
for spring summer fall or winter I think
you should definitely look into getting
this leone and i will link it below and
while you're going below click thumbs up
or click subscribe to get videos for my
lord pop channel another thing I like
about this shirt is that it is not
see-through ok you can still have been
shirt without a VNC through and a light
that the beat is not too deep and there
are no buttons to have to iron in
between that's another thing I like
about this shirt
ok we live in Texas and every floor is
usually at all for and my feet are
killing me so I have skechers wear
around the house
I don't particularly like wearing them
outside of the house i highly recommend
these wild beaver brand and if you see
these are black and gray they have an
off-white is and a tan color you always
below you can find these on Amazon yet
with almost everything else that posted
so i'll link that below but they have
some art support and some
padding so those are going with me they
look great with capris and they also
look good with jeans or shorts
I've shown you an extender that can be
worn as a dress you can wear it with
capris and long pants you can layer on
top of it or underneath it
I've shown you daughters from target i
have shown you color jeans that you can
pair with different colored top and
upgraded to look a little fancier if you
need a fancy option i have shown you
leggings that are so great for travel
compressions Z with a Z and those can be
found on amazon also and i'll show you
one of my favorite tops that can be worn
in all different ways for comfort for
structure for versatility you can wear
all these things in different ways and
be a rock star at packing for outfits
while you travel

lollipop channel ideas that pop on
youtube I appreciate you visiting and
please let me know if you find another
piece that you can add to these travel
outfits for the airplane and beyond

2017 President's Frontier Award - Duration: 1:54.(piano)
The thing that makes Michael Hersch really extraordinary as an artist and as a composer…
(piano)
is his clear vision of an artistic ideal.
(piano)
His gifts, his musical gifts are really incredible.
(piano fades)
(applause and cheers)
Ronald J. Daniels: This is one of the best days of the year at Johns Hopkins University.
Today the provost and I will award the President's Frontier Award to Michael Hersch.
Congratulations, Michael!
(applause)
We're very proud to be able to recognize his artistic talent.
(piano)
He is a creative genius.
Provost Sunil Kumar: It's an affirmation of the value the university places on the
individual's work.
Cheers!
Daniels: This is an award that was initiated three years ago by graduates Lou Forster and
Kathy Pike.
They wanted to give an award to a faculty member that would give them the space, the
support, the time to pursue their research, their creative endeavor.
Michael Hersch: I'll be able to do things that were simply not conceivable to be done
without the kind of support that this will allow for.
(piano)
In the past couple of years we focused on the sciences and we're excited for the first
time that the President's Frontier Award will go to someone who's working in the
arts and humanities.
(piano)
I'm thrilled to be part of this moment.
This moment when an institution like Johns Hopkins says that art is something worthwhile.
