So, I'm back with another channel update because, as I promised in my Christmas vlog, I have

now created my own ko-fi.com page!

Ko-fi.com is a great place where you can buy me a coffee and thus support this channel.

Of course, that is the equivalent of a donation, because coffee wouldn't really help me at all, I

don't really like coffee.

I rarely, and I mean RARELY, drink coffee.

Again, mentioning that Christmas Special video, I said there that I was thinking about opening

a Patreon page and a couple of months ago I found out about this alternative.

And I kept thinking, I wasn't really sure about starting a Patreon because unless you

have a really big following, it's not very profitable, you know, because of the fees

and all that and I think it's more complicated; and I've come to think that ko-fi is a much

better service than Patreon.

For me, it's much easier to setup and for the donors, it's much easier to use, more

straight forward.

Also, a big plus is that you won't be locked into sort of a monthly subscription donation

fee, even though you can pullout at any moment, on ko-fi you can just donate once in a lifetime

or as many times as you'd like, or as much as you'd like at once, you know, maybe you

want to donate, I don't know, every 2-3 months, or only when you have surplus funds and you

want to support your favourite content creator.

So in this aspect I think it's much better.

There is a minimum sum and, of course, you can pay as much as you'd like and I'd really

appreciate it if you guys could support me this way.

Even a one-time only donation, with the smallest amount would mean a lot to me and I'd be grateful.

And to show this gratitude I will mention all of my donors at the beginning of every

single video, in a scrolling text.

Of course, if you don't want your name in my YouTube videos or on my ko-fi page's feed,

you can simply use a nickname, I think that's possible, or better yet, make a private donation,

where you don't have to give any name away at all.

Regardless, I will always mention my donors in my videos.

Now, to be honest I would've never used such a service if it weren't for YouTube demonitising

pretty much every video I upload, for no reason, as you know, that's a big problem, that's

just the result of a badly implemented system.

So things are getting a bit rough now and every little bit of help is welcomed to pretty

much help keep this channel alive.

Of course, this is completely optional but, again, it would really help me and really

mean a lot to me.

I could just place more ads on my videos but I don't want to do that because I know how

annoying those things are sometimes, and I don't want to be intrusive with the ads, I'm

sure nobody would like to click on a video and find 10-12 mid-roll ads in a video.

I don't know if you noticed, but with every single video, I try to keep it as clean as

possible, I only add an ad before the video, another one between the two halves, at the

half-time, and another one at the end.

I'm telling you all this because I want to be transparent and honest with everything

I do and every decision I take regarding the channel.

I will post the link to my ko-fi page pretty much everywhere, in every video, in the video

descriptions, in my "About" section on the channel page, on my Twitter page, on my Facebook

page, so in case you want to donate but can't really do that right now, you won't have a

problem finding the link at a later time.

But of course the most important form of support is watching my videos and subscribing to my

channel, so I once again want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has done so.

Since December I've been seeing great growth of this channel, more engagement from my viewers,

which is great, I love to get in touch with you.

And it's just really great to see how the average number of subscribers, on a weekly

basis, has increased since the beginning of this year because 2018 is going to be a huge

year for me, a very, very exciting year, I have big plans as I told you in the Christmas

video, I'm planning a big project regarding the World Cup this summer.

John 2 12-25: Jesus... Who? What can We Know? - Duration: 11:17.

Hello. Now what can we know about Jesus? In this video, we will explore a little

further into who Jesus is by continuing our reading of John chapter 2 verses 12

through 25 and then touching on six characteristics of Jesus that are

mentioned in this passage. Ready? Here we go.

My name is Charles Yerkes and this is the Simple Not Shallow YouTube Channel.

The whole purpose of this channel is to bring you digestible, compelling, and

conversational insights into the Bible so that you can develop a relationship

with God by learning how to love simply, wisely, and well. For that is where

excitement and meaning in life dwell. So, what can we know about Jesus? Well, let's

begin by reading John chapter two verses 12 through 25 from the world English

Bible. After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, his brothers,

and his disciples; and they stayed there not many days. For the Passover of the

Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now, he found in the temple

those who sold oxen and sheep and doves and the changers of money were sitting

there. And he made a whip out of cords, and threw them all out of the temple,

both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changer's money and

overthrew their tables. Now, to those who sold the doves, he said, "Take these things

out of here! Do not make my father's house a marketplace!" And his disciples

remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will eat me up." Now, the Jews

therefore answered him and said, "What sign do you show to us, seeing that you've done

these things?" Jesus answered them and said, "Destroy this temple, and in three

days I will raise it up." Now the Jews said therefore, "46 years

was this temple in the building! And you will raise it up in three days?" But he

spoke of the temple that was his body. When therefore he was raised from

the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the

Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. Now when he was in Jerusalem at the

Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, observing the signs which he

had done. But Jesus didn't entrust himself to them, because he knew all

people, and because he didn't need anyone to testify concerning man; for he knew

what was in man. And that was John chapter 2 verses 12 through 25. Now,

the first characteristic that I found is in verse 12.

Jesus was a family man. No, I'm not saying he was married or engaged or any of that

type of stuff. But, what I mean is family was very important to him. Well he

traveled with his mother and his brothers. And while we do not get a very

in-depth look into his family life, we know that here, at age 30, he not only was

honoring of his mother (from our last video on verses 1 through 11, which I will link

to in the video description box below), but here, we also find that he now

travels in their company. And with all the talk that we hear about being

the family of God, isn't it refreshing to see that Jesus traveled in the company

of his family? That he truly cared about his mother and his brothers? Number two,

did you notice in verse 13 that he was also a very religious person? He went

to the Passover and to the temple. He was a religious person who honored his family...

see religion ain't all bad. So, Jesus honored his family

and he honored God the Father. Indeed, it was his honoring the father

that led him to take such stands as those found in the next three verses.

This is where the merchants had set up shop in the temple itself, and not merely

at a location near it, as had once been the practice. These merchants

provided a necessary service for those travelling long distances. in these verses,

the problem is not with the service provided, but that they were being

provided in the temple at all, where worship should have been happening, not

the buying and selling of items. It is also interesting that the only place

where this could have been set up was in the outer court, or what is known as the

Gentile court. That is the one place in the temple where the Gentiles could, well

it was the only place, where they could come and worship God. Not only was it

making a place of worship into a place of business, it was actually preventing

one group of people from worshipping at all. I am reminded here, of Jesus's

admonitions about not hindering the little children from coming unto Him.

Number three, Jesus was the Messiah. Now this comes from verses 17 and 22.

Here, John points out that the disciples remembered what scriptures spoke of

about the Messiah; how the Messiah would behave. That is, that the Messiah would

have great zeal for God's house. Number four, next we learn about Jesus is that

Jesus knew from the get-go who he was and why he was here. This I see in verses

18 to 22. Where he tells those asking on what authority he just cleaned out the

temple. He said, well... "I am the Messiah." He did this by saying that when he died he

he would rise again in three days. See, Jesus knew who he was.

Number five, he was meek and humble but he was not mousy. In Matthew 11

chapter 20... chapter 11 verse 29 and chapter 21 verse 5,

Jesus refers to himself as being meek. Sometimes the words gentle and

unassuming are used in its place depending upon your translation. And in

2nd Corinthians chapter 10 verse 1 it speaks of the meekness and gentleness of

Jesus. Yet, this meek and gentle Jesus drove out the cattle, the sheep, and

turned over the money changers to tables... he simply cleaned out the temple. Now a full

study of what it means to be meek must wait for another day. But for now, it is

enough to see that while being meek he wasn't Mr. Mousey. I mean he didn't come

up to them and say, "Please Mr. Money Changer,

could you please, I mean if it's, if it's not too much trouble, could you please

relocate outside the temple? I mean, after all, this is a place of worship and well...

it would be better if you could just please honor that. Please." No. This was

more of a, "Do not let the door hit you on the way out!" type of deal. Right? Now,

before we go too crazy with that. I did do some research into this passage (in

the four commentaries that I have mentioned in my other videos on John, and

yes I will link to those below), but I did find out, that this need not have been

too harsh or too violent or too aggressive of an episode. For as these

commentators all state, if it had been too violent, the Roman authorities would

have shown up to settle things back down. So, what that means is, he was firm,

assertive, and authoritative; but without being authoritarian. He wasn't too

provoking in taking the stance. That's something we should probably think a

little bit about. And number six, six. Jesus was very

wise in how he lovingly dealt with people. Even though more and more

people were coming to believe in him, he did not entrust himself to them. The

first time I read this in verses 24 and 25, it was kind of a shocking experience

for me. I mean, isn't to love people to trust them and shouldn't that go hand in

hand? But looking at the context, you could see that many believed in him

because of the signs he performed because of the miracles he performed, not

because they knew who he was or truly loved him. Right? They loved what he was

doing. And Jesus knew that heads turned quickly by seeing a miracle would be

quickly turned away when the hard teaching came. Jesus was not flattered

into a false sense of security. He knew the score. And yet, he was never

spiteful, vindictive, suspicious, callous, or treated anyone in any other manner

than that of a loving one. He was one who knew he could not trust people and yet,

he still fully loves them. Now for me, this was the beginning of the lessons on

how to love your neighbor as you love yourself. To love even while knowing that

they're going to turn on you.... Wrapping your head around this one may take a

How To Make Punched Tin Can Heart Earrings - Duration: 7:50.

We're going to show you how easy it is to transform a tin soda can into a pair

of punched tin earrings.The first thing you want to do is empty out your soda

can. We've just got a generic can from the grocery store because we picked out

the colors that we like. We looked at all the cans and we liked this red and blue

with these dots. And we rinsed out our can and there's a little bit of fluid

left in it but that's okay. We've got kitchen scissors and we're

just going to dive in and stab a hole and at the side of this can to get

started and it looks scary but really it's not I'm gonna open them up and very

carefully punch a hole right in the top of the pan like that and from there I

can just start cutting the top of my can off so there's the top of my can cut off

I'm just gonna set that aside and you can see they've got some tin edges here

that are a little bit pokey just be careful it's not actually that crazy

sharp but just be careful so you don't cut yourself and I'm gonna take a paper

towel and we're going to just sort of wipe out a little bit of the fluid here

so it doesn't get all over my work surface and I'm going to continue to cut

my can and at this point what I like to do is look for the part of the can that

I know I don't want in my earrings and I'm going to cut there I'm going to cut

a slit right up the side that and then I'm going to sneak my scissors into the

bottom edge there and cut the bottom of the can

and there's the bottom of my can and now what I can do is take my paper towel and

just wipe out a little bit of water that's left in there from when I washed

out my can and there we have a nice big piece of

decorated tin from our soda can and what we like to do now is take a craft punch

this is just a heart craft punch from the scrap booking section of the craft

store and a little trick with this is instead of using the hole punch this way

to punch my tin if I used it this way I wouldn't be able to see which part of

the can design I'm getting in my earrings so instead I'm going to use it

upside down and I'm gonna slide like the edge of my can into my punch like that

so that I can see through the little back here I can move this around to pick

out what I want my designing to be and I think I like this red and blue in my

design like that so I'm gonna then just punch it you can flip it over to punch

if you want I'm going to do it this way so you can see it and then I can just

pull my little heart that I punched out

there's my first little heart punch super cute oh the water there and then

I'm gonna look again and see if I see another spot I like and I think I want

to get up a little of this circle up here so I'm gonna cut part of this can

off cut it away so it's out of the way and I'm going to cut some of the bottom

of this off and that way I can get the heart up where I want it on on this

design on this can so again I'm just going to move it around until I until I

like my composition but that looks fun I'm gonna punch again pop my little

heart out like that and there are my two little hearts that I'm going to turn

into earrings and I like that they're a little bit different from each other and

I love that I've got a little bit of color on each one

super-fun now I'm going to take just a regular hole punch and this is just a

one that you would use from you know you're out of your office supplies and

for this design I'm going to punch a hole in the upper left of my heart

they're not in the center I want it to sort of hang from one side and again I'm

going to use the punch facing up so I can see where I'm punching the hole I

want to make sure that I've got enough of an edge all the way around my hole so

that I want to put my jump ring in it doesn't tear through the little edge and

I want it kind of centered along that edge so I'm just going to punch that and

there's my first little hole punch and I'll do that again in the upper left of

this one and again I want to make sure I've got it in the right spot punch it

again and now all I have to do is turn these into earrings and to do that I'm

going to take a jump ring and I've got kind of a large jump ring and I'm going

to hold it with some chain nose pliers just because it makes it a little bit

easier to handle and I'm going to feed that the little hole that I just made

through my jump ring and then I'm going to close the jump ring and to close the

jump ring I'm going to hold the jump ring on one side of that opening with my

chain nose pliers I'm going to grab a second pair of pliers and I'm going to

rotate this jump ring closed just like that and that'll keep that nice round

shape of my jump ring and I'll do that again with my other earring just like

that and then close it

you can always make sure that your jump ring is closed by sort of pressing

across the opening also to make sure that it's closed and now what I can do

is open the loop on my earring wire and to do that I'm just using chain nose

pliers and I'm just going to rotate that loop to the side kind of like I'm

opening a door I don't want to pull it this way because I'll lose the roundness

of my loop there and now I'm just going to hang my jump ring on that loop and

close my the loop on my earring wire and I'll do that with my other earring as

well I'll open up the earring wire the loop like that slide the jump ring over

that little loop and then close it and my earrings look fabulous but just as an

added bonus I'm going to add a bead to each of my earring wires and to do that

I'm just gonna slide the bead onto the back of the earring wire and we tested

these beads to make sure they fit over the wire so not all beads are gonna fit

nicely over the earring wire but these happen too which is nice and it just

adds a little bit of color we'll do the same thing with our other earring take

the earring wire at the back of it and our little bead slide that on and up and

over and around like that. And there are our darling punched tin heart earrings.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed how he plans to use both Mesut Ozil and new

signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenia international made the move to the north London based club from Manchester

United in a deal which saw Alexis Sanchez go in the opposite direction.

Mkhitaryan played in the number ten role during his spell at Borussia Dortmund and was also

utilised in the same position by Jose Mourinho at Man United.

Currently, Mesut Ozil occupies the number ten role at the north London based club.

However, Wenger believes the two star players can play together at Arsenal.

"I think Mkhitaryan can play in all positions in midfield," Wenger told reporters on Friday.

"In a box to box role, certainly not a defensive role or as a holding player, but all the other

positions are not out of reach.

"Until now he has played in a wide role but he can certainly absorb that role in a

kind of winger or playmaker.

I don't rule it out for him to become a box to box player."

Ozil's long-term Arsenal future is cast in doubt after failing to extend his contract

with the Gunners.

The 29-year-old has entered the final five months of his deal and could end up leaving

the club for free in the summer.

Both Mkhitaryan and Ozil could make Wenger's starting eleven when Arsenal take on relegation

A question arises,

'what can I as an average person do to make sure that my investments

are halal. Frankly speaking,

there is only two practical things that you can do.

Number one, either you become an expert yourself, and

you then learn the fiqh and the shariah behind halal investing

and then you go and individually

research each and every company and research not only

whether that company is halal, or not

but also whether it is viable

whether it is wise, judicious to invest in that company,

what is gonna be the ROI of this company?

what is the prediction of the stock of this company? etc

And me and you we both know in order to do that

you need to specialise not only in the islamic side

but also in the modern finance side.

But you know what, some people do that, good for them.

If they can do that, Alhamdulilah, that's fine.

But me and you the average people out there

who have a little bit of wealth, we wanna invest in halal manner, I

don't have the time, to become a specialist in all of the stocks

out there, in all of the companies out there.

That is not my area of expertise, and for many of us

Islamic finance as well is not our area of expertise.

it requires years and years of study, it requires a

complete knowledge and grasp not only of classical fiqh

not only of what is called the science if boyouu or

what is the fiqh of buying and selling,

but also modern finance.

And to be very very frank my dear brothers and sisters

it is not easy to find a person who is specialised

both in classical islamic law and in modern

finance. That is a rare combination, and I speak

as somebody who has specialised in classical Islam and classical Islamic law.

It is very rare to find somebody who has

both of those, the knowledge of classical tradition and the knowledge of modern finance.

So the other alternative then is that you go to

companies that already have

boards of people specialists in the Islamic side, in the finance side,

in the investing side, and they have all come together

and they are working as a team

and that is where groups like Wahed Invest are so

appropriate for the average Muslim out there.

that there are companies like ours, this company here

right now that they have the people who are knowledgeable,

they know the Islamic side of things,

they have sharia complaint boards,

they have the ethics board as well,

and of course they also have the expertise in the

finance side in the investment side

and all of these teams come together

and they work as a harmonious whole.

Each one is helping the other out, and that is frankly the

easiest, the wisest and the most simple thing that

the average Muslim should do is to go to those companies

who is sitting on those boards, and if you feel that you trust the people there,

Add James Comey to the mix, and when this all goes down, it's going to be a major

political shakeup that could lead to people being put in prison.

some of the text messages exchanged between Page and Strzok.

The date was one day after Cruz dropped out of the presidential race.Strzok clearly discusses

"pressure" to conclude the Clinton email probe, linking the timing to the ascension

of Trump as the Republican candidate most capable of securing the GOP nomination at

the time.

The messages contrast with Comey's May 3, 2017 testimony before the Senate Judiciary

Committee on FBI oversight in which the then-FBI director defended the Clinton email investigation.

Comey was asked by Sen. Chuck Grassley whether there was any artificial deadline to finish

the email probe, especially before the Democratic National Convention.

He was also questioned about the code name for the investigation, "Midyear Exam,"

which seems to imply a timeline.

Grassley wrongly referred to the codename for the probe as "Operation Midyear,"

but Comey used the correct term "Midyear Exam."

Here is a transcript of that section of Comey's testimony:

GRASSLEY: Was the Clinton investigation named Operation Midyear because it needed to be

finished before the Democratic National Convention.

If so, why the artificial deadline?

If not, why was that the name?

COMEY: Certainly not because it had to be finished by a particular date.

There's an art and a science to how we come up with codenames for cases.

They — they assure me it's done randomly.

Sometimes I see ones that make me smile and so I'm not sure.

But I can assure you that — that it was called Midyear Exam, was the name of the case.

I can assure you the name was not selected for any nefarious purpose or because of any

timing on the investigation.

At an infamous news conference on July 5, 2016, Comey seemingly violated FBI tradition

by bypassing the Justice Department and stating that "no charges are appropriate" in Clinton's

case after criticizing her use of a private email server as "extremely careless."

charges are appropriate."
