 Just days after the premiere of The Bachelorette, winner Garrett Yrigoyen was immersed in a social media firestorm

 News broke that Yrigoyen, 29, who was then secretly newly engaged to Becca Kufrin, had previously liked a series of highly inflammatory Instagram posts, including some that were racist and homophobic

 "It was tough," Yrigoyen tells PEOPLE exclusively of the public outcry and fans of the show labeling him a bigot and worse

"I didn't mean to offend anyone."  In a statement released May 31, Yrigoyen, who got engaged to Kufrin on the season finale of the show, referred to the likes as "mindless taps," a notion he stands by today

 "Just because I liked it, doesn't necessarily mean that I supported it," he says in this week's issue of PEOPLE, on stands Friday

"I was raised in a very open-minded family that was accepting to everybody. We're very non-judgmental

I'm genuinely sincere."  When the posts were uncovered, Kufrin was quick to defend Yrigoyen

 "People have been saying really terrible things about [Garrett], but that's not who he is," she says now

"At his core, he's a good guy. We've all made mistakes and done things that aren't perfect

But all I could ask for is somebody who owns up to what they've done and who apologizes and wants to grow

Hi guys, I asked you guys on Instagram which eye-look would you like me to recreate

and 73 % voters decided in favor of this look.

Obviously the look I created doesn't look the same like on the picture,

because the products used are not specified, but I tried to find as close shades as possible in my collection.

If you want to see how I got this purple-blue glittery, colorful, glam eye look please keep on watching!

As my first transition shade I am taking this Makeup Geek Cupcake single eyeshadow

on the dense crease brush I am applying it to my crease.

Then to give the look the purple undertone, like in the look that I am trying to recreate,

I am taking the shade Amethyst from Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette and applying it to the crease.

Then to intensify the look little bit more I am taking Makeup Geek single shadow in the shade Cherry Cola.

And I am blending it little bit lower in the crease to the other shades I applied before.

On the picture I could see little bit of some dark pink shade in the crease as well

so I am taking similar shade from the Zoeva Offline Palette.

And I am applying it high in the crease above all the purples, but still blending it in so there wouldn't be any harsh lines.

And with the clean brush I am cleaning up the edges of the eyelook.

For the lid shade I am taking this dark purple color from the Zoeva Offline Palette

and after spraying it with settings spray I am applying it all over the mobile lid area.

Then to give the glittery effect I am first taking NYX glitter primer and I am applying it all over the mobile lid area, where I want the glitter to stick.

And on the same brush I am taking this NYX body and face glitter in this beautiful blue shade and I am applying it on the top of the primer.

For the inner corner highlight I am taking the Balm's Mary LouManizer.

For eyeliner NYX Epic Ink Liner.

And for mascara Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.

I am going to apply lashes to get the same effect as on the picture.

I am using Ardelle Wispies, and again I am cutting them in half and applying only to the outer corner of the eye.

For my lipstick NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick.

Months after Garrett Yrigoyen first came under fire for liking several hateful and transphobic memes on Instagram, Becca Kufrin is addressing the controversy.

On Monday's live After the Final Rose special, the Bachelorette and her fiancé made their official debut as a couple — and Yrigoyen found himself in the hot seat.

The winner faced questions about screenshots that showed an Instagram account under his name liking offensive posts from as recently as last November.

Screenshots of the posts — which mocked the trans community, a Parkland high school shooting survivor, undocumented immigrants and more — surfaced online the day after the season premiere, in which Yrigoyen landed the coveted first impression rose.

Yrigoyen, 29, said he stood by his previous apology and that Kufrin had "helped me through everything.

"We've been honest and open and transparent with one another from the beginning," he said.

"I feel like when I was liking things it was going against things she stands for and that made it really hard on us as a couple. … We got through that together and we're growing.".

Kufrin acknowledged that the scandal was "a major thing that we had to talk about early on at the very beginning of our relationship.

"I, luckily, got to know him for who he is … so I got to see who he is, his heart, his soul," she said.

"And the Instagram situation, I don't condone that and I know that he stands by his apology and he feels so bad for everyone that he did offend.

I just want to move forward and to learn and to grown and to continue to educate ourselves. That's all that you can ask for in another person.".

Asked whether she considered ending the relationship, Kufrin said, "I don't think we ever got to that point. "It's just been a constant conversation and he's had to deal with some really negative things being said about him. Terrible things," she said.

"He put out the apology and he asked for the chance to learn and grow, and that's all I could hope for in him.". "It definitely brought us stronger," she added.

"It's a challenge that we had to overcome and it's been a hurdle, but we've pushed through and we've talked about it so there was never any question in my mind of 'Can we get through this and would this end us?' ".

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE in this week's issue, on stands Friday, Yrigoyen said the legions of fans labeling him a bigot was "tough.

"Just because I liked it, doesn't necessarily mean that I supported it," he said. "I was raised in a very open-minded family that was accepting to everybody. Yrigoyen previously apologized with a lengthy statement shared on his new Instagram account.

"To those who I have hurt and offended: This is all new to me. I went on the Bachelorette for the adventure and possibility of falling in love, not fame.

I did not know what to expect once the show aired," he began. "I am sorry to those who I offended, and I also take full responsibility for my 'likes' on Instagram that were hurtful and offensive.

@garret_yrigs12 was my former Instagram handle and I decided to take it down and start fresh because I have learned an extremely valuable lesson and am taking steps to grow, become more educated, and be a better version of myself.

I am not perfect, and I will never be anywhere close, but now I will always be more informed and aware of what I am liking and supporting, not just on Instagram, but in life.".

"I never realized the power behind a mindless double tap on Instagram and how it bears so much weight on people's lives," he continued. "I did not mean any harm by any of it.

My Instagram 'likes' were not a true reflection of me and my morals. I am not the negative labels people are associating me with.

For those who do know me, I am a sincere, genuine, loving, light-hearted, open-minded and non-judgmental individual. I like to make new friends with anyone I meet and want everyone to find their happiness.

and how he was sold to Egyptians and how he rose in the land

of his own affliction kind of explaining to us that

you know no matter where we are facing affliction, wherever we are facing

fear or problems in life we stick with God

and he will raise us up in the right time in the due time

and when he raises us up its much more than we could ever imagine

like Joseph he became the second most powerful man in Egypt..

that what i got out of that thats amazing.. there is a lot of thing to

do today alright..

How To Create an IFTTT Applet (Instagram to Twitter) - Duration: 4:40.

Hi Chamber family, this is Izzy. Welcome to my very first tutorial. As you can see

from the link at the top I'm currently using a free service just to try it out.

so I would love any comments or feedback you might have. Today, I want to talk about if

this than that. It is my favorite favorite social media tool. it basically

looks makes me look like I'm really active on a lot of places that I'm

really not. So I'm already logged in and I'm going to show

you how I've created some of my applets so that you could copy me or follow

along. So again, I'm logged in so this is what it looks like for me right now. At

the top I want to click on my applets. Again because my account is not new

you can see where I already have a few if you wanted to copy them and you can

also see where you can turn them on or off if you wanted to. So, maybe you

temporarily needed nothing to go over to your other account, or maybe you just

stopped using this hashtag so you don't like the clutter. So in the top I'm going

to create new applet and again this website is called if this than that. so I

want to create the this and we want to choose the service and I'm gonna just

choose Instagram. Again I'm already logged in so you are probably gonna have

to cut and set up your accounts and tie them together. Because Instagram has a

lot of room for hashtags I'm actually just going to choose new photo by

specific hashtag. And then you get to tell it which hashtag you want it to be

so I'm gonna use hashtag Twitter, just for the purposes of this tutorial. You could

do something that is more subdued, like you might just do hashtag whatever your

city name is because that will look natural when you get over to Twitter. You

could also use the name of your Pinterest board you could also send it

to multiple Pinterest boards. But if you want to send it to multiple

Twitter accounts you'll actually need different IFTTT accounts because you

can only login with one social media account at a time. So 1 Twitter handle

and 1 Pinterest and 1 Instagram, etc. So I'm creating my trigger and now I

need to create the that, so if I post an Instagram with my hashtag Twitter then I

need something to happen. Again I'm going to use Twitter and already logged in. so

I'm pretty much gonna ignore these three because I would do these things manually

and then I just don't need to be DM myself. so we're left with post a tweet or

post a tweet with image - and if you know anything about social media you know

that you definitely definitely need an image. A lot of times if you post

something without an image then it doesn't count. So we're going to click on

post a tweet with image, and we're still in just the Twitter action so the tweet

text is going to be the caption that I already happen to have underneath of

Instagram post and the source URL is going to basically link over to my Instagram

post. When you click on add ingredient it's got a lot of different options but

honestly I just don't like to mess with them. So I'm gonna leave it as is and I'm

gonna create action and now it's showing me what my applet is in case I want to

make changes. So if I post a new photo on my Instagram little river SC and use the

#Twitter then it's automatically going to tweet an image to add visit LR.

this is just you letting it notify you the first time it runs

I personally don't need it so I'm gonna turn it off and then I'm gonna hit

finish. So now it is active. It's live. Anytime I post an Instagram with this

hashtag it's automatic it and I don't have to worry about it. This is just

gonna fill up my Twitter feed because I don't schedule a lot of native Twitter

posts so it makes me look way more active than I really am and personally I

found a lot of my instagrams happen to perform really well on Twitter.

I actually do this for multiple accounts - this is just the one for my destination

city I actually have separate accounts - for not only my chamber but also my

festivals, and I just play around with a lot of

different social media platforms as well. So I hope you found this video helpful
