"Yes You Can!" A Message from the Employment Files: Section 511 of WIOA - Duration: 10:01.
Have you ever thought of becoming
employed in a job that you love?
Have you tried working before and
it just didn't pan out? If so, you may be
interested to know that new regulations
have passed to help get you into the
workforce. Section 511 of the Workforce
Innovation and Opportunity Act, known as
WIOA, was created to raise
expectations for employment of youth and
adults with disabilities. With an
emphasis on moving away from
segregated settings and into the
community, the purpose of Section 511 is
to encourage even more people to enter
the workforce. Section 511 also limits
the use of sub-minimum wage to promote
fair pay for all. By working with state
agencies, employers and employment
providers, the goal is to create
rewarding integrated employment
opportunities at wages with the same
benefits that compete with other
employees. Competitive Integrated
Employment is the first and preferred
outcome for working-age youth and adults
with disabilities.
This includes individuals with complex
and significant disabilities for whom job
placement in the past has been limited
or unavailable. In this video, we will
explore stories of four individuals who
have competitive integrated jobs in our
state.
Many of these individuals were
previously in segregated settings, or had
been told they would not be able to be
independent.
Hopefully their stories will encourage
you to explore opportunities for
community-based employment and other
inclusive activities.
Join us as we travel the state to meet
real Kentuckians, with real jobs who are
contributing to the workforce in a
meaningful way.
First we will meet Calvin Lee who has
been employed at Paducah Beer Werks in
Western Kentucky for over a year. Next, Ellie
Conkling of Louisville will show you how
she has helped the YMCA to solve an
unmet need, while increasing her own
independence and self esteem. Then we
will go to Benton, and meet Jake Couch to
see how his love of cars landed him a
job with Leon Riley Ford for over four
years. And finally, Jonathan Tompkins
will encourage you with the rapid
success he has made
at the Sirloin Stockade restaurant in
Murray. Calvin has been working at
Paducah Beer Werks since its opening over
a year ago.
Previously, Calvin had been in a
sheltered workshop, where people with
disabilities are employed separately
from others and paid sub-minimum wage
rates. Calvin's job duties now include
food preparation, dish-washing, and helping
maintain cleanliness outside the
restaurant. The general manager and owner
agree that Calvin is an outstanding
employee at Paducah Beer Werks because
he does his job well and never
complains. He is willing to work even on
days when he is scheduled to be off. A
family member helps him get to and from
work and he is very dependable. First of
all, Calvin has a great personality,
he's a great person to be around and
brings out the best in other people. Whenever
he is at work or in any setting
whatsoever. As far as supports go, we
check on him once every three months and
unless something else does come up
throughout that we need to bring
attention to. Calvin enjoys his job and
being able to work with coworkers to get
the job done.
He also enjoys engaging with customers
and likes the independence of making his
own money. Despite challenges that have
often dictated her life,
Ellie Conkling handles data entry at the
YMCA in Louisville, Kentucky with
confidence. When I first started the whole
back of this office was filled with
papers. I enter tag numbers - we're trying to go
paperless. One of my big strengths is
organization. If I wasn't here,
other than the volunteer, the computer work
just wouldn't get done. Director Paul McKim
and other co-workers at the Y recognize
Ellie's skills, and they rely on her to
do her job with accuracy on a regular
basis. Because of this, she has gained
confidence and has become more
independent. The office of vocational
rehabilitation has even provided Ellie with
a power chair so that she can engage
regularly with staff, and even board a
TARC bus with ease. What do you like
about having a job? It makes me feel
valued It makes me feel like I can be
useful and not just be somebody in a
chair. I can actually get stuff done. As a
benefit of employment,
Ellie has received a free membership at
the YMCA. She enjoys working out up to
three times a week with coworkers and
other members of the Y. It has helped
to increase her upper body strength,
self-esteem, and confidence. In addition
to membership, the YMCA also offers
employees access to a personal wellness
coach, which Ellie has used to help focus
on physical activity, nutrition, and
social health. It's really neat to see
the progress.
Not only do I love my job, the
people are really - the members are
really - they're very helpful.
Jake is well-known in the community for
his love of cars. He first volunteered at
the car dealership Leon Riley Ford while
in high school. He was then hired to
empty the trash, which was a big job
since there are 15 areas to attend to. A
checklist helped him to remember all of
the areas he needed to go to. One of
his favorite part of the job was
visiting with the other employees
throughout his route. Since he first
started over four years ago,
Jake has been given additional
responsibilities, like watering the
plants, starting the cars in the winter,
and washing the cars when it is warm.
Jake's checklist has grown with his
duties to help keep them on task. On his
break,
Jake spends time on the internet adding
to his miniature NASCAR collection with
some of the money he makes. He has purchased items
that he probably wouldn't have been able to
buy - had not - Jake comes from a very supportive family who
really helps him reach his goals in every
way possible. but with Jake, you can see the pleasure and
the independence in buying and purchasing items for himself
Which one are you going to buy with this check? Uhm, "The Wall".
The Wall - that's his car he's gonna buy
with his paycheck. While dining at the
Sirloin Stockade, Jon learned of a job
opening in dish-washing and decided to
apply. He got the job! Within the first
three months of employment, Jon's
fast-pace, positive attitude, and
dependability earned him a raise. He
enjoys working at the restaurant and
being a contributing member of the team.
He and his co-workers work together to
stay on task and keep the restaurant
stocked with clean dishes and cooking
equipment. He takes pride in what he does
and owners Adam and Lisa Carver have
recognized his dedication to their
business.
He comes in here every day with a sense of
enthusiasm and just gives it a hundred percent. If I ask him to do
something he doesn't hesitate, he gets out there and takes care
of it. He takes pride in doing a good job.
You're only limited by what your mindset is.
I would say that it doesn't matter if you have
a disability
or any problem. If you're willing and determined
hard enough to do anything, and you have the determination
to get it done, then you'll succeed. Through his hard work and
commitment to the job, and the trust his
co-workers and bosses have in him, Jon's
confidence in himself and his abilities
continue to rise. Since beginning his job
he has been able to buy a new car, lease
an apartment, and even register for
classes at Murray State University. Now
that you have seen examples of what
Competitive Integrated Employment can
look like, we hope that you can imagine
yourself in such a role. Finding a job that
you love is possible if you're in a
position that best suits your strength
and skill sets.
If you've never had an opportunity to
explore your vocational interests in
work-related strength, an employment
specialist can help you discover them. As
you can see, employment gives people a
sense of accomplishment and value, more
independence and freedom to enjoy the
things that they like, and a network of
natural supports that can lead to
friendships. In some cases individuals
with disabilities who work can also
become less dependent on government
benefits and resources.
You are the most important person in
finding employment. The first step is
recognizing that you have a desire to
work. The next step is advocating for
that need, by talking with your counselor
at the Office of Vocational
Rehabilitation or the Office for the
Blind. They will guide you to get the
support you need to become a successful
employee. If you are overwhelmed by the
thought of what employment might look
like for you, we encourage you to review
the stories of our four Kentuckians again.

Can the Habs tie a tie? - Duration: 3:02.
No...
It's way too short.
I'm just going to go with it.
I did it perfectly for Davey.
This'll be too easy.
If you asked me to do a Double Windsor, that would probably be another question, but...
Boom!
I think Gally actually taught me how to tie a tie, and it's the worst possible way you can do it,
but that's the way I've been doing it.
It's actually funny, I haven't done it in awhile...
Ouf.
I usually buy a tie at a store and tell them to tie it, then I never untie it.
Yeah...
Um.
Oh wow.
This is funny.
So I think it was like this...
Goes like this...
Ok now, hold on. Restart.
You're putting me on the spot.
Cross it over.
You go under.
Then you go up.
Then you go through.
Then you pull it nice and tight... and you've got your tie.
Perfect length too.
Ok...
Let's go...
Ok, it's something like...
I mean it's a weird-looking tie, but...
But it's something I guess like that.
You've still got to figure it out, but...
And I know actually this thing usually, like, gets longer...
So me and Gally, we actually like, put it here, or cut it, or I don't know...
I don't know, he taught me though, so I've stuck with it.
I think it's been working for him and for me well.
So... there we go.

Can Clouds Cure Cancer? | Update #53 - Duration: 5:57.
[Ryan] What could you possibly want to talk about this early in the morning?
[Craig] Uh...about the dream I had last night.
[Ryan] Ok...
[Craig] Yeah, I dreamt that clouds could cure cancer.
[MUSIC]
[Ryan] I'm thinking that you actually have something more substantial to talk about with
this dream of yours because I know you definitely geek out when it comes to genomics.
First, for the audience out there, let's talk about genomics.
How would you describe genomics?
[Craig] Sure!
Well, the important thing to understand about genes I guess that has been discovered in
the last 20 or 30 years is really that DNA is fundamentally digital.
So, the real advancements that have occurred in genomics are being able to process that
digital information in a variety of different ways.
There are several algorithms that people use to do that.
One of the more important ones is looking at differences or mutations that occur in the genome.
Especially when you're trying to understand for instance with cancer, how the genetics
of the cancer is different than that persons normal genome.
So there's a lot of processing to do to figure that out.
[Ryan] Yeah, I think that's something that I found in my research - that just as early
as 2012, not too long ago, we were able to take 69 whole human genomes and sequence them...69.
But now, the University of Toronto for example is taking 10,000 whole human genomes and sequencing
them each year!
That's a project they're doing right now.
So there's a lot more capability.
Why is that...how is this possible...and is this leading to what you dreamt about?
[Craig] Yeah it is...in many ways.
In fact, have you ever heard of Moore's law?
The processing power doubles every year.
Well, what's actually been happening over the last 25 years or so is that the rate at
which we can sequence DNA has been growing faster than Moore's law.
We're getting very close to the point where your exome, which is the part of your DNA,
it's only about 1 or 2 percent that actually matters in your DNA.
That exome can be sequenced for just a few hundred dollars.
It might seem like a really big deal that 10,000 people are getting sequenced but within
our lifetimes everyone will get sequenced.
[Ryan] Ok, so this automatically to me sounds like it could be creepy, right?
So, what you're saying is we could identify potential diseases that we could get in the
future before we get them.
So, that seems like it's scary...but ultimately what you're talking about is the ability to
intervene early, correct?
[Craig] Correct.
Sometimes it's simple things: Modifying your diet or doing other things to reduce your
risk factors.
BRCA1 is a gene that if it's not normal can lead to increased risk of breast cancer in women.
There are some that take that diagnosis very radically and will go all the way to the point
of actually having a mastectomy before they have cancer in order to prevent it.
Angelina Jolie did that for that reason.
[Ryan] Ok, so really interesting.
So, it's not just a dream it's a reality.
This is actually happening in todays world, which is fantastic.
For us, for MentorMate, you know...a complex software solutions company - how to we play
in this space?
Why is it important for us to be talking this today?
[Craig] Sure!
Well, a lot of what we do is build custom applications.
These technologies use the same fundamental computer technologies that we build on a day
to day basis.
A lot of them are looking to cloud-based solutions like Amazon Web Services or AWS for deploying
those kind of solutions for a variety of reasons.
[Ryan] ...and is that a space that we play in as far as projects we've worked on?
[Craig] It is, yeah.
We do a lot of work in AWS.
We help our customers manage deployment and architect their solutions for Amazon Web Services
and the variety of services they have available there.
We also are investing a lot in what I would describe as DevOps with a twist I guess...and
that twist is that these systems have to be first and foremost secure.
You mentioned that it's a little creepy...well one of the creepier things about it is making
sure that your information is safe.
Sharing your genome is a very personal thing.
In fact, one might argue that your genome is the most personally identifying piece of
information that exists.
So having that stored in the cloud sounds scary.
But what's actually true in cloud scenarios is that in many situations you can create
lower cost and lower complexity a solution that's more secure than you might have in
your own environment.
[Ryan] Craig, if I had dreams like you I would likely not just be making videos once a week.
Wow, so we're going to hope that Craig keeps dreaming.
And again, that's the best thing about this...this is not dreams...this is a passions of Craig's,
this is a passion of a lot of people all around the world that are doing amazing things thanks
to cloud computing and this whole advancement with Moores law and how rapid this is evolving.
So, thank you for taking time to really geek out with me this morning over some coffee.
As always, thank you all for watching and we'll be back here next week with our next
video.
Until then, take care!

As a participant tells a story, the system can analyze audio, text transcriptions, and
physiological signals to determine the overall tone of the story with 83 percent accuracy.
Using deep-learning techniques, the system can also provide a "sentiment score" for

Introduction to the LifeSaverHorn - Duration: 3:47.
Hi everybody we're here to show you the LifeSaverHorn.
First of all, we're a very small operation we're a family business.
So you're not going to expect anything fancy in this video or on the website.
It's just a really good product with no gimmicks.
Okay, first of all, let me show you what's available in the product.
Here you have the double chromed version of the LifeSaverHorn.
Here's the matte black with UV protection.
These are the touch pads that actually fit into the LifeSaverHorn.
And they range from size of one millimeter all the way to six millimeters
and that enables you to customize the LifeSaverHorn to fit your Harley horn.
This is actually the clamp that we actually developed ourselves
and it's custom, you can only get it through us.
Or you can just get the plain clamp that's provided
with the standard set.
Next I want to show you how easy it is to install the LifeSaverHorn.
I'm installing this one with the standard clamp.
Basically you put it on you just screw it on.
And then there it is.
Okay, so you can see how the LifeSaverHorn looks once it's installed.
This is the one with the customized clamp on it.
And you can see how well it fits with your natural grip.
So when you're cruising down the road this is how you grip naturally
And rather than having to reach for the horn button here
all you do is Basically you just flick your horn
flick your thumb.
Like this.
And you can see you can work all the other buttons.
Doesn't get in the way of the other buttons.
And the key thing here is, if you look on top here
you can activate your you can pull in your clutch
at the same time you can operate your clutch as well as your horn button.
At the same time without losing a positive grip on your Harley.
Okay, let me show you that again.
Next I want to show you how tough this product actually is.
It's made from a plastic compound that really enables it to hold the form
but be flexible enough to actually work on the Harley horn.
You can pretty much drop it step on it
bend it.
And you can see that there's no chipping there're no cracks on the product at all.
So it's a very tough product.
Like I said, it's made from a special compound of plastics
that we developed here.
So if you're like me and you've been riding a Harley for a while
you know, we've all been in situations where it was a near miss or actually an accident
itself unfortunately.
And in those cases the use of the horn really could have helped actually prevent
a close call or an accident itself.
Alright, so check out our website like I said it's really simple
www.LifeSaverHorn.com and get all the details and hopefully
order some for yourself and for your friends.
And hey, safe riding out there.

But now might be the time for those health fanatics to take back their own words,
scientists in Japan have genetically modified pigs that are both meat and vegetable!
Dubbed "Popeye Pigs," these pigs have been inserted with a spinach gene that converts
saturated fat into unsaturated fat.
Although the pigs have been cleared of any health complications, their announcement was met with
public outcry, with many people wondering why shoppers aren't happy eating vegetables
instead of trying to mutate pigs into something they're not.
2. Camels
Dubai scientists believe that the best way to cure genetic diseases is by modifying animals to produce curative proteins in their milk.
But not just any animals- so far, the experiments have focused on camels. Why camels?
Because they're cheap, they are disease-resistant, able to adapt to many climates, easily maintained, and have an efficient food conversion ratio.
1. Chiken
What you are looking at is man's cruel joke on nature.
In the name of economy and KFC-loving humans, scientists in Israel have created a prototype of a breed of featherless
chickens that can save time on plucking, are more environmentally friendly, and in general significantly reduce the cost of raising them.
The scientists claimed that featherless chickens are extremely safe because they are created by
breeding a regular broiler chicken with a Naked Neck.
Despite the number of benefits featherless chickens will provide, there are some serious drawbacks to consider.
Mother Nature wouldn't give chickens feathers if she thought they were useless.
The feathers on the chicken are there to protect chickens from parasites, harsh weather conditions,
and overzealous cocks that can hurt the hen's skin when mating.

10 Paused Disney Movie Moments You Can NEVER UNSEE - Duration: 5:48.
10 Moments You Should NEVER Pause in a Disney Movie
The best part about watching a movie at home is that you can pause it at any time and go
get some more snacks.
But, when you are watching a Disney animated movie you have to be careful when you pause,
as you may end up with a pretty frightening image on your TV screen.
For this video we have done the work for your for our list of 10 Moments You Should NEVER
Pause in a Disney Movie.
Enjoy this video and be sure to subscribe to CBR for more awesome content, every single
day!
Toy Story
The Toy Story films aren't just good animated movies; they truly are must-sees for people
of any age.
The characters are fun and relatable and the storylines are as smart and they are entertaining.
The movie also brought the world some pretty innovative animation techniques that helped
pave the road for animated films in the last decade.
The animation isn't without flaws though, especially when you freeze the film and one
paused moment in Toy Story is truly terrifying.
In a scene between Buzz and Jessie, the cowgirl is acting quite drunk and if you pause the
movie at the right time you get to see a really creepy image of Jessie's eyes seemingly
rolling back into her head.
What makes the paused moment even better is that Buzz happens to be looking at her in
shock and horror.
Beauty And The Beast
The live action adaptation of Beauty and The Beast will be here soon, so we figured we
might as well take a look back at the original animated film.
The movie is great in so many ways and tells a very meaningful story.
Although the beast can be scary at some points, we have found an image of Gaston that makes
the beast look like a small kitten in comparison.
If you pause the movie while Gaston is in the middle of yelling, you end up with an
image of the antagonist with his arms in a very unnatural position and his face looking
scary as all hell.
Gaston is not supposed to be a nice guy and if we saw him looking the way he does in this
paused moment, we would certainly run the other way!
Hercules
In 1997, Disney entered the world of Greek Mythology with their animated hit, Hercules.
The movie is fun and shockingly educational and the songs will get stuck in your head
for weeks.
The movie does a great job of animating everything from monsters to Mount Olympus, but it is
not without its bizarre pausable instances.
At one point, Herc is fighting a monster in the forest and when he is punch in the face,
he is sent flying.
If you pause the movie while the hero is air born, you can be treat to an absolutely hilarious
image of the demi-god with his eyes popping out of his head!
Tarzan
The legend of Tarzan has been around for a while and when Disney brought the story to
life in 1999, it became a worldwide hit.
The story is thrilling and the Phil Collins soundtrack is legendary.
Unfortunately, the film is also known for having quite a few weird and unflattering
pausable moments and most of them feature Tarzan himself.
If you pause the movie while Tarzan and Jane are swinging through the air, you will be
treated to a very haunting image of the main characters neck being stretched far away from
his body.
There is also another paused moment that shows Tarzan with giant cheeks and it's equally
weird.
Luckily, the 2016 live adaptation decided not to feature either of these moments.
Snow White
We can't fault Disney too much for having a few animation slip-ups in Snow White, as
it was their first ever feature length-animated film.
The story and most of the animation still holds up today but there is definitely one
funny pausable moment that fans need to see.
At one point Snow is falling through darkness and if you pause it at just the right moment,
her eyes are actually pointing is completely different directions.
When you look at the image alone, it's super creepy but it's hardly noticeable when watching
the film, so we will let this one slide!
Tangled
Tangled is one of Disney's most recent mega hits and it did a great job of taking the
classic tale of Rapunzel and making it a lot of fun for the whole family to enjoy.
The movie is jam packed with fun Easter eggs and references to other Disney properties
and as it turns out also delivers a pretty weird paused moment.
At one point, Flynn Ryder is getting tangled in Rapunzel's hair and if you pause it at
just the right spot it actually looks like he is preparing to hang himself as the golden
hair is wrapped around his neck.
What makes the moment even more funny is the fact that his eyes look like they are bursting
out of his head!
The Fox and The Hound
The Fox and The Hound is one of the most criminally under appreciated Disney films of all time
and does a great job of showing off just how well Disney can personify animals.
The characters are adorable and the story is compelling and it makes for a very simple
but sweet movie for kids to enjoy.
Fans of the movie probably don't remember the moment where Tod the fox looks just a
little too excited as it can only really be caught when you pause.
While he is rubbing up to his lady, his eyes pop open and you can definitely tell that
the Fox is aroused.
It's a funny moment hidden in an otherwise very innocent film.
Aladdin
It's hard to find anyone who doesn't like the movie Aladdin, as it is jam packed with
great characters, songs and a pretty fun story to boot!
While Robin William's genie character does some pretty weird and hilarious stuff in the
film, it is actually Aladdin himself who brings us the most bizarre moment, if you know when
to pause.
In the film, the titular character is walking and laughing and if you pause it at just the
right time it looks like Aladdin's head is actually growing out of his neck and his
teeth are flying up out of his mouth.
We have to think this was just an accidental animating slip up, but it's definitely hilarious.
The Little Mermaid
Like many of the Disney films on this list, The Little Mermaid is getting it's very
own live adaptation and so far all we really know about the movie is that Chloe Grace Moretz
will not be starring in it.
What we do know, is that Ursula will undoubtedly be absolutely terrifying, as she was in the
original movie.
The villainous creature has so many scary moments, but it turns out her most haunting
one only appears when you pause the movie.
At one point, Ursula is sneaking up behind Ariel and when you hit pause, there is a freeze
frame that her leaning over the mermaids shoulder with just about the biggest and most creepy
eyes we have ever seen.
It's an image that you can only catch if you are looking for it, but it's totally
creepy if you can find it.
Frozen
Although tons of adults ended up enjoying 2013's smash hit Frozen, the animated movie
is still designed for kids and families to be able to enjoy together.
It might be surprising to find out, then, that the movie actually features a pretty
risqué moment – if you know when to hit the pause button.
When Anna and Hans are in the boat together, she ends up on top of him at one point.
If you hit the pause button at this moment, it definitely makes for an image that challenges
the PG rating of frozen.
As an additional fun fact, did you know that Anna is the only Disney princess to ever hook
up with a villain?
We guess girls really do like bad boys after all…
So there you have it, there is our list of 10 moments you should really never pause in
Disney movies.
Which one of these entries shocked you the most?
