The winter chilly has returned and we'll notice much colder temperatures compared to yesterday...readings

have dropped 5 to 6 degrees... so be sure to dress in layers before heading out.

Sunshine won't do much to boost the highs...Seoul will make it to 2 degrees Celsius...which

is the average we see at the end of December,... while Daegu and Gwangju will also have single

digit afternoon highs at 8 degrees.

Brace for wintry conditions this week, today could be one of the mildest days of the week

in Seoul... there will be a big chill tomorrow morning at a low of minus 8 degrees then lows

will remain in the negative territory with frequent snowfall this week.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.

While sunshine fills the sky, readings will drop to the colder side again here in South

Korea, North Korea will have colder temperatures under brighter skies.

As for major cities in Asia,..Beijing will have a similar weather pattern to Seoul at

a high of 3 degrees under clear skies.

Meanwhile, Melbourne was hit by its heaviest day of December rainfall in 25 years... the

city recorded more than 66 millimeters between Friday and Sunday,

Heading to North America, Chicago had the warmest weekend since the end of October,

but expect to see unstable weather conditions on Monday then it will bring freezing temperatures

starting Tuesday.

As for South America, Buenos Aires will have a rainy start to the work week.

Taking you to Europe,...

London, Rome and Madrid will have plenty of sunshine with double digit highs.

Lastly to Africa, winds will pick up again in Cape Town from Monday afternoon.

That's all the weather update for now.

Jared Kushner Still Can't Pass His Security Clearance Check, But He Still Has A Security Clearance - Duration: 3:21.

Jared Kushner, a senior advisor to Donald Trump, who also happens to also serve as Donald

Trump's son-in-law, has still been unable to pass his security clearance background

check investigation.

Yet for some reason, still holds a temporary security clearance, giving him access to top

secret intelligence that the United States of America does not want the average person

in this country to know.

Jared Kushner has access to information of some of the biggest secrets that the United

States has ever kept, and yet he's so inept and corrupt that he still can't even pass

the actual investigation to get a security clearance.

There is no reason whatsoever why Jared Kushner should have any kind of security clearance.

To be honest, there's no reason whatsoever why Jared Kushner should ever be in the White

House, let alone an advisor, let alone an advisor with a security clearance.

As it stands right now, the security clearance that Jared Kushner possesses is a temporary

one.

It is meant to just kind of give him access to all the shit he shouldn't have access to

while he's under investigation and that clears, and he gets his full blown permit, whatever.

The problem is, according to officials, he'll never pass that background check.

He's lied too many times on his disclosure forms.

He poses too much of a threat to national security as a result of his dishonesty.

He will never be able to pass that background check.

If that is the conclusion of intelligence officials, then he will lose his temporary

security clearance, won't have access to that stuff anymore.

That doesn't matter, because all throughout this time, he has access to it.

This idiot, this kid, this charlatan huckster, has access to information that most of us

could only dream of, not because we want to take down the United States or something stupid

like that, but this guy knows secrets.

This guy knows what's actually happening.

Hell, this guy might actually know if the United States actually covered up evidence

of aliens landing here back in Roswell all those decades ago.

Isn't that ridiculous?

Shouldn't Jared Kushner, this little dimwit, not have access to things like that?

At some point, we have to look at the Trump administration and be honest with ourselves,

and say that this a wholly corrupt, completely inept, criminal enterprise.

That's what it's become.

To be honest, in the Jared Kushner case here, I don't think him not passing his security

background check is going to be much of a big deal.

After all, we do know that the special prosecutor's office seems to be homing in right on Jared

Kushner.

By the time they get around to finishing that investigation, this kid could already be indicted,

and therefore denied outright any kind of security clearance, not just now, but for

the rest of his life.

The Twinkling Light Set: An increasingly rare but delightful type of decorative lighting - Duration: 11:51.

It's that time of year again, the time where we embrace the meaning of the holidays by

relentlessly spending our money at various shrines to consumerism around the world, and

covering our homes in a superfluous amount of lights.

I'm not so much a fan of the former, but I do like lights.

And in this video, I'll be showing you my favorite kind.

This is the part where you say, "This isn't what I thought the next video was going to

be about!", and you're right.

I just came back from a family trip and still have to finish that one up.

For now, though, I want to show you a special kind of light.

These lights seem to be fairly uncommon, which is a shame because the effect they produce

is in my opinion unparalleled.

As you shall soon see.

First a few qualifiers.

If I were to refer to these as Hmm hmm lights, I'd annoy a particular set of people.

And if I referred to them as hmm hm hm lights I'd annoy the opposite particular set of

people.

So I'll take the British approach and refer to these as Fairy Lights.

Now you're both annoyed.

This video will focus mainly on incandescent fairy lights because the sets I'm talking

about fall under that category.

So first, some general info.

Note that this is from an American perspective where fairy lights run at 120 volts.

Incandescent fairy lights of this style tend to be constructed as cheaply as possible.

The wiring is done point-to-point, with the lamp holders simply being a plastic tube thing

with the wires just sorta poking up through the bottom and being held to the sides.

The lamps are equally primitive.

Just a glass envelope with a tiny filament suspended between two support wires that go

straight out the bottom of the glass.

A removable plastic base holds the glass with the wires bent up the sides, and it lines

up with the lamp holder, which presses the wires of the bulb into the wires at the sides

of the base.

A set of 100 lights is typically made of two series circuits of 50 lights each, with the

lights running at about 2.4 volts.

If you remove a light from the string, that opens the circuit, and half the strand goes

out.

This is the cause of much frustration, let me tell you.

But, to prevent a burnt out bulb from opening the circuit and thus killing half the string,

the bulbs are constructed with a clever little feature.

At the base of the bulb, wrapped around the support wires, is a little wire loop.

This wire is coated with a weak insulator that will prevent current from flowing through

it at the normally low operational voltage.

But if the filament breaks, the full 120 volts is briefly present at the lamp because none

of the other lamps are receiving current and dropping the voltage down.

The insulation around the wire loop will usually break down with such a high voltage, which

turns it into a shunt, thus shorting out the lamp and continuing the circuit.

This is known as an antifuse, and I said the insulation usually breaks down because we

have all had a set of lights that just refuses to work for no apparent reason, and this is

a possible culprit.

That's what light repair devices are used for--by detecting voltage at each of the lamps,

you can travel along the string to find out which light is the last to receive voltage,

and thus which one is likely the cause of a fault.

As an unfortunate side-effect of this feature, each shorted lamp increases the voltage across

the remaining lamps.

With 49 operational lamps instead of fifty, each lamp now gets about 2.45 volts.

They're rated at 2.5 volts, at least in these sets, so one or two burnt out lights

won't be too harmful.

But with only 45 lights working, each remaining light gets 2.66 volts.

With 40 operational lamps, the rest get a whole 3 volts.

Each burnt out light makes the rest work harder, and thus increases the likelihood of future

lamp failures.

Eventually, the set will experience a rapid cascade failure of all the lamps, turning

the whole string into a short circuit, and the fuse in the plug will blow.

It's for this reason that you should replace a burnt out lamp as soon as possible in a

string of miniature fairy lights.

So, now that you understand the operation of fairy lights a little more, let's get

to the subject of this video.

Most conventional strands of lights come with a couple of flasher bulbs, identified by a

red tip.

These contain a bimetallic strip that reacts to the heat from the filament, causing it

to bend.

After a certain amount of time, the bimetallic strip bends sufficiently to break the circuit.

Once it cools down, the circuit will be reconnected, and the filament will re-light, which reheats

the bimetallic strip, and it goes out again.

This repeats over and over and over again.

When you replace any lamp with one of these suckers, it will cause half of the light strand

to flash because it will break the entire circuit once the bimetallic strip has warmed

up, and will reconnect it once it cools.

I've always found this to be a rather dumb looking effect, and I think most people agree

because these flasher bulbs seem almost never to be used.

But, there are some strands of lights that use a different kind of flasher bulb, and

use many of them.

These seem to be sold as "twinkling" lights, and their approach is completely different.

These are the subject of this video, and I really really like them.

These strands use many flashers, typically every fifth light, and these flashers don't

break the circuit when the bimetallic stip bends.

Instead, they short out when the strip bends.

This does two things.

First, the current bypasses the filament as it takes the path of least resistance, and

the bulb goes out.

But, it also increases the voltage to the rest of the strand.

When you first power one of these sets up, the entire light strand is illuminated.

But as the flashers heat up, they start to randomly go in and out.

This is a great effect on its own, but because they short themselves out when they're not

lit, they slightly affect the brightness of the entire strand.

This is most easily seen with a new set still wrapped together, because this entire bundle

has no flashers among it.

Notice how it shimmers.

This happens because the voltage across these lamps is constantly changing as the flashers

do their thing.

Yet another great side effect of the way these work is a gradual transition in brightness

with each flasher.

Normally, flasher bulbs produce a very sudden on-off effect since the entire strand goes

on and off at once.

Because the strand as a whole sees 120 volts when it first receives power, the filaments

nearly instantly achieve full brightness.

The voltage between them doesn't drop to 2.4 volts until they're all hot, as the

resistance of an incandescent lamp is about 15 times greater when it's hot compared

to when it's cold.

But since the lamps in a twinkling set only see between 2.4 and 3 volts across them as

they twinkle, they don't have 120 volts to get them started, so they don't suddenly

turn on and off like a conventional set.

See, when you apply just 2.4 volts to a normal bulb, it lights up very slowly compared to

just plugging a set into the wall, because the lower voltage will pass less initial current

through the filament, and thus heat it more slowly.

This creates a more gradual turn-on for the flashers which I find very nice.

Now, you might ask, why am I making this video?

The short answer is, I find these sets of fairy lights to be nothing short of delightful.

They're a nice enhancement to a static display without being annoying, and their randomness

is appealing.

Though animated LED based strands are available, they don't come close to these in my opinion.

And, these sets are harder and harder to find.

In fact, I don't think many people realize they exist.

I rarely see people using them.

The only place in my area that seems to reliably stock them every year is Menards.

Now if you're not an American midwesterner you probably don't know Menards, but they're

a local chain of hardware stores, essentially a larger, quite a bit more eccentric version

of the Home Depot or Lowes, complete with a banjo-filled jingle.

♪ Save Big Money at Menards! ♪

ACE hardware also had a small number of sets for sale, but clearly they don't sell too

well as they're kind of left alone among dozens of other offerings.

The Home Depot doesn't appear to sell them, and neither does Walmart.

I don't have a Lowes near me, otherwise I'd have checked.

If anyone knows of other places you can find these, please let us know in the comments.

It may be that they're uncommon because the rest of the lights are designed to tolerate

the increased voltage the flashers let through.

They aren't your standard 2.4 volt bulbs, in fact they're 2.9 volts,

a somewhat rare rating.

This high voltage rating allows them to spend most of their existence being underrun; they

will see their rated voltage only in the rare instance that nine or more flashers along the 50 light

circuit are currently in the off state, which virtually never happens with 10 total flashers.

On average they only see 2.66 volts.

And while we're on the subject of fairy lights, allow me to express a few grievances.

This, I'm sure, is more preference than anything, but there's only one retailer

near me, that's ACE hardware, that sells what I consider to be the "correct" color

combination of simply Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue for multi-colored light strands.

Nearly everyone else uses orange instead of yellow, and adds purple or pink.

Sometimes there's even a cyanish blue in there.

I'm most bothered by the replacement of yellow with orange because yellow is a very

bright color and provides contrast from the others.

Orange is too dark and similar to red.

But that's just my humble opinion.

Also, I really don't care for most multicolored LED fairy lights offered today, largely because

of the way they are implemented.

Perhaps I'm out of touch, but I am not a fan of the monochromatic blue LEDs used in them.

They produce a visual effect for me of a fuzzy halo and are almost hard to focus me eyes on.

In fact, I find all of the colors but red to be a bit jarring precisely because they

are monochromatic.

I'd like to see a set of multicolored LED lights made with entirely warm white LEDs

but with tinted diffusers just like in the good old days.

I think these would be easier on the eyes.

In fact, that gives me an idea…

I'm gonna do some experimentation and report back in another video.

In general I think LED fairy lights have gotten very good lately, and the warm white color

is becoming better every year, plus I think applications like icicle lights or snowflake

type things are a good application for cool white LEDs.

I particularly like the fact that since they use so little power you can string many sets

together without worrying about capacity.

But I don't like the fact that they're constructed just like incandescents sets.

In fact, I purchased this set of lights just to confirm my suspicions, and though I don't

want to suppose this is convention, I find it rather funny that these are just regular

LEDs with their pins shoved down a regular lamp holder and bent up the sides, with the

rest of the light strand design being essentially identical to an incandescent one, aside from

this little doodad which I'm assuming is a diode and capacitor to limit current.

I know other sets use fancier diffusers with other shapes, but the sockets are usually pretty similar

But on that note, it seems nearly every LED set I've encountered is only half-wave rectified

with no smoothing at all, which makes them flicker like mad.

Spin them around and you can see that they're lit perhaps only 10% of the time, owing to

them only being lit at the very peak of the positive cycle.

Anyway, I'm all for energy efficient lighting as anyone who follows this channel knows,

but I haven't seen an LED set that can duplicate this twinkling effect so well.

Most of them are animated strings like this, but they don't address each bulb individually

so it's an unsubtle and predictable effect.

I have seen some applications of prelit figurines with a small percentage of LEDs that do twinkle,

but if memory serves the individual LEDs flashed at a steady rate.

They weren't all the same flashing rate, so they drifted apart from one another, but

there was no randomness in each one.

Also the rest of the lights were unaffected.

I'm afraid I'll have to just be a fuddy duddy a little longer and keep buying a few

backup sets of these each year.

I've got 5 extra now.

And no, I don't have a problem.

Thanks for watching, and I hope you found this video interesting.

Like I said, I want these lights to survive and I want more people to know about them.

I'll leave you a view of the lights on my balcony so you can enjoy them.

She's Confused When He Takes Down American Flag, But What He Says Next Leaves Her In

Tears

Lights shine brightest when they are surrounded by darkness.

This is true in dark situations, as well.

When tragedies happen, we see the lights of love, kindness, and compassion shine through

in ways we might often miss.

That is what reporter Holly Bounds Jackson discovered when she looked outside her Beaufort,

South Carolina, hotel room recently.

Holly was reporting on the impact of Hurricane Irma in South Carolina and was staying at

a Country Inn & Suites, along with many other evacuees.

As the sun began to rise that morning, she looked out and saw something that left her

in tears.

She knew she had to share the special moment, and her story has gone on to touch thousands.

"A quick snap of a moment that really spoke to me today," she wrote.

"The owner of the Beaufort hotel where I'm staying didn't hesitate to get right to

lowering the flag when the sun came up this morning.

"It was raining, he had a hotel packed with evacuees who were mostly on edge.

He's waived his no-pet policy this week in a hotel he took over four months ago.

He's got people trampling through the place soaking wet.

Only a handful of employees stayed behind to work.

The phone rings constantly.

His hotel is leaking.

The power went on and off all morning.

He brought in a generator and got it working in under 30 minutes.

"Multiple guests told me that when they came to town and nothing was open, he gave

them muffins and bananas late at night.

His father operates a hotel in Yemassee that was at full capacity.

Dozens slept in their cars last night in the parking lot- but he let them eat the continental

breakfast and use the restrooms at no charge.

'There were so many children, of course,' he told me."

Holly was so touched by this man's generosity and kindness in the face of such a stressful

and tragic situation that she asked if she could interview him on live television.

He "humbly declined."

When she thanked him for his hospitality, he was quick to apologize for the paint peeling

on the ceiling, which he hadn't had a chance to fix yet.

What touched Holly even more was that this hotel owner and his family aren't even from

America – they came here from India – yet they have gone out of their way to help those

in need and take pride in honoring their new country and its flag.

"I hate the storms," she wrote, "but I love how they always find a way to speak

to me in a way I never expect."

Carl Frampton trainer Jamie Moore close to retirement but now is hungry for success - Duration: 8:58.

Carl Frampton trainer Jamie Moore close to retirement but now is hungry for success

"I told Nigel Travis, 'If Tommy Coyle retires, I'm done with this training'," said Moore.

The former British and European light-middleweight champion had already grown tired of being the man in the corner and confided in friend and fellow coach Travis he was ready to pack it in.

He had initially become a coach by accident rather than design and the lack of enthusiasm from young prospects that came to his gym on the outskirts of Manchester had left him frustrated.

"Over the last three years I've trained some fighters and I've had to get rid of them, young prospects who should be the most enthusiastic and they are not," said Moore.

"I expect fighters to be as committed as I was, at the very least.

Why should I be dedicated to help them when they are not?" It was only the dedicated Coyle who kept him going, the fighter he took over after the well-respected manager Steve Wood had asked him to train him in 2013.

"I'll never be the same again" Jamie Moore Back then Moore was focused on his TV punditry work rather than coaching.

But this weekend he will be in the corner for one of the big names in the sport as Moore takes charge of former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton for the first time.

Now he has a gym bustling with 10 fighters as he also looks after some of Oliver Harrison's boxers with the Salford-based coach currently recovering from illness.

Suddenly Moore's name is much talked about and all eyes will be on him to see if he can guide Frampton back to the top of the featherweight division.

Handing in his trainer's licence is no longer on the agenda but perhaps why Moore had grown frustrated by boxers with a lack of dedication comes from his own drive to get where he is now.

Just over three years ago, the former fighter was lying in a hospital bed after being shot in Marbella.

It was a case of mistaken identity after Moore had travelled to Spain to train old rival Matthew Macklin, who he faced in an epic battle back in 2006.

But Moore felt he was about to die outside of his rented accommodation as blood poured from the wounds where bullets had pierced through his skin multiple times.

However just two months later, he was back in the gym with Hull fighter Coyle, who would be his only charge for the next three years.

"A couple of months after it happened I was in bed in my living room, as I couldn't around much, and I was getting Tommy to pick me up and take me to the gym," Moore said.

"I was still able to get to the gym to oversee the training. It was my way of forgetting about what happened.

"But I'll have a memory of what happened forever because I'll never be the same again." Moore put on a brave face during the recovery but his words now convey the pain he has gone through to get back into the ring and be able to move around on the pads with his fighters.

At one point that looked like an almost impossible task as, for a year after the shooting, there was no recovery in his left leg.

Moore could not move his foot, with his lower leg feeling "like jelly" and a specialist told him he would never be able to run again. "My left leg will never be the same again," he said.

"But I've made it my ambition to try to get it as good as it will work. "The specialists and physios have been brilliant but they never expected to get where it is at.

"I went back to see the surgeon who fixed the nerve a year later and my foot was not moving from the calf down, it was just basically like jelly.

"He said, 'Usually by now there is some reaction to the surgery so I don't anticipate you getting any recovery'. I said, 'I will'.

"I asked him if I would ever run again and he said, 'No'. He said I'd have to wear a foot support forever but I told him that wasn't going to happen either.

"Only about two-and-a-half months later I started to get these little flickers in my muscles he was talking about and from that point on it has gone from strength to strength." That was thanks to the painstaking work by Moore every day to get his leg to recover and expensive physiotherapy sessions with a nerve specialist in Manchester.

But not only did he run again, he ran 13.1 miles in the Great Manchester Run last year for the Niamh's Next Step Charity and even the pain of the bullet still lodged in his hip could not stop him.

He was due to do the race around the time he got shot, so the milestone meant even more to him.

"I don't think you'd have known how difficult it was because I never let on," he said. "Part of my recovery mechanism was to cover it up and nobody really knew how much pain I was in.

"I didn't want people to make a fuss or look at me in a way that they thought I couldn't do something. "I am a proud man.

I just wanted to get back as close I was before as quickly as I could.

It's been such a difficult three years." Now the rewards for those hard years are here and the journey with Frampton starts on Saturday when the Belfast fighter returns to the ring against Mexican Horacio Garcia at the SSE Arena.

If Frampton returns to the top of the featherweight division with Moore as his coach, then there will be queues of fighters looking to be trained by the former warrior in the ring.

"I feel luck I've been given the opportunity to work with someone like Carl, not many would get this chance so early in their training career," said Moore.

"Certainly not one who was looking for a way out in the next couple of years. "Ever since that happened in Marbella, my outlook on life is different.

I am so much more grateful about every single aspect of my life. "I know it was the most horrendous thing that happened in Marbella, but if that didn't happen all this other good stuff may not be happening now.

"It's a test of character, it is a test to see if you can come through those set-backs, they teach you lessons and then you have to put them into stuff in the future.

"I've been through some horrible things in the last few years and now these are the rewards for it. "The lessons I learned over that period of time I will be able to pass on and help people.".

Zlatan set for bench but Jones ruled out - Duration: 1:30.

Zlatan set for bench but Jones ruled out

Jose Mourinho confirmed on Friday that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Marcos Rojo are all back in the matchday squad for Saturdays clash with Newcastle and the Manchester United manager has since revealed that Ibrahimovic will, in fact, be named on the bench.

The Swede has made an incredible recovery from the cruciate-knee injury he suffered in April, with the manager delighted to have another attacking option available to him as the Reds continue to battle on all fronts.

As a start, I see him on the bench and its where I see him, stated the manager. Its where hes going to be tomorrow [Saturday], on the bench..

One player who wont be at the managers disposal for the clash with the Magpies is Phil Jones.

The United defender was forced off during the first half of Englands friendly draw with Brazil on Tuesday and Mourinho confirmed on Friday that Jones will be sidelined due to the injury.

In the winter period, the more players you have, the better the situation is, Mourinho told reporters on Friday. I think its more than hard. I think its impossible for a player to play every match, every minute, in December especially. .

Its around 10 matches, especially for a team which has also Champions League and League Cup [fixtures]. I think there are nine matches in December, so the more options you have, the better..

Danny Rose to Man Utd EXCLUSIVE: Mourinho can land Spurs ace in January but only for £45m

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, having sold right-back Kyle Walker to Manchester City for a massive £50m, is ready to sanction the sale of Rose, too.

There have been issues with Rose, 27, this season, including his criticism of the club's transfer policy. And no-nonsense Pochettino only wants players who he feels are totally committed to the club.

Rose, therefore, could go, as he is already in competition for the left-back role at Spurs with Wales star Ben Davies, 24.

And the Daily Star Sunday can reveal that Tottenham are also assessing other left-backs. Rose has privately indicated that he would be keen to play at the new 61,500-capacity White Hart Lane next season.

But it is now felt that Rose will leave next year, either in the summer or in the January transfer window. United have a strong interest in Rose but could face competition from neighbours Manchester City.

Another possible contender for Doncasterborn Rose is Sam Allardyce, newly installed as manager of Everton and with plenty of cash to splash.

Chelsea have also been linked but that would not get Rose back to the north, which it is believed he would be keen to do.
