Instagrammers and YouTubers

mainly because of Instagram

in the first place

that's why we love this channel

come with us along these 7 steps

you go through if you want

to make Instagram pictures

as a travel couple

see our gear

how we find the best spots,

tell you a little bit

about the technical part

but most of all

see are we still

uh why we are still good in shape

it's cold today

It's really freezing

first step

what's the story you want to bring to your audience

our theme is

follow your dream and

travel full time

before you go outside

be prepared

charge your batteries

make sure your memory cards are empty

and check all your stuff

and most of all what's the spots you have in mind

to make this unforgettable

Instagram picture

second step

grab your gear

take your camera

your tripod

your lenses

and most of all

you remote control

third step

Composition

we love clear, calm, serene and bright pictures

the human eye love to see symmetry

the rule of third

is a common grid that's used by many photographers

and cinematographers

it's a build in grid

in the viewfinder of your camera

and we always shoot our photos

in portrait mode

so it's vertical

in this way your photo has more

view time in the timeline of Instagram

make sure your photos are

razor sharp

and play with the settings on your camera

fourth step

take the picture

we use the manual settings on the camera

most of the time

we use manual focus

we try to use a large aperture

close to f 2.0 / f 2.8

this way you get a shallow depth of field

which means

the object is razor sharp

and the background will be fuzzy

or out of focus

usually we use ISO 100

and a shutter speed of 125th of a second

fifth step

run

the self-timer gives you 10 seconds to stay in place

chocolate milk

it's needed because it's so cold outside

the first day that it's really freezing

here in Holland

and of course

hot chocolate

with whipped cream

perfect way

to get warm again

one thing we always do with Instagram

is make the Instagram Stories

Behind the scenes!

"So today we are filming for a new video

which we will publish this Sunday"

"but it's so cold outside, so it's time for hot chocolate"

let's make the next Instagram picture

we vary with the composition in our timeline

first photo can be with the two of us

from a distance

and the next one can be

from only me and then more close-up

and the third one the third photo

can be a beautiful landscape

sixth step

now it's time to import photos

select the best ones

and start with editing

I spend most of the time

in color editing

and therefore I use Photoshop,

Lightroom

and Apple Photos

once ready

I write a little story which connects

to this photo

and I search for best hashtags

finally I will send the photo

including the text to my iPhone

and publish it on Instagram

so that's the process of this step

Marketers, Don't Get Confused by Instagram's High Engagement! - Social Media Minute - Duration: 2:23.

Hi, I'm Jan Rezab this is Social Media Minute.

Marketers, recently, have been making the mistake of

flocking to Instagram for some of their campaigns.

Because you seem to get a higher engagement on Instagram.

Of course, when we look at two posts

and on a public basis you share them with your boss,

one might have 10,000 likes.

One might have 5,000 likes.

You're gonna say, "Wow, the 10,000 likes post, I like that a lot more"

and your boss might like it a lot more.

But we have to look deeper into the data.

When we look at some of the Socialbakers' data

around benchmarks across Facebook and Instagram,

we now know, and it's the first time we're releasing such data,

that on average, Instagram posts will get 5 times more engagement

for the same amount of people reached.

It's important not to get confused by just higher engagement data.

We've always said engagement is just one of the metrics.

Of course it's the public one, it's the one you see, your bosses see,

other people see.

You might tend to put a positive tendency on Instagram but guys,

please don't do that.

Look at the real data, when you're looking at a campaign

don't compare it with engagement, for the love of God.

Go to a dashboard system,

build out your dashboard that has Instagram reach,

Instagram spend, and Instagram engagement.

You should look at more metrics but at least to start with.

Then do the same thing for Facebook.

Put in Facebook reach, Facebook ad spend and Facebook engagement.

In total, you will see a more complete picture than you had before.

Start there and build your way out to more advanced metrics, obviously.

This is where to start, don't get confused by engagement.

We know that you might have a tendency to do that but please,

share this with your marketing colleagues, with your boss,

so that in the future, when you have a Facebook campaign

that might look like it's less successful,

it's actually more successful,

that we don't fall into that trap of looking at just one metric.

Follow all the metrics in social media, measure it properly.
