Vlogmas #3: How I Film My YouTube Videos - Duration: 8:51.

Hello and welcome to today's Vlogmas.

Today, I'm going to show you my filming set up in North Carolina.

I do film in two places.

For the most part, you know, I film here,

in my own place in North Carolina,

and then when I'm at my boyfriend's in Toronto,

I will film over there.

You will see the setup over there.

I am flying over there next week.

So, once I get that set up, you will see that.

So, I actually just finished my new background area for filming,

and I am so excited.

So this is like a brand new setup that I haven't even really used yet.

I'm gonna use it today; I have a video to film today, but uh...

Let's see what it is, shall we?

Okay, so I film in this hallway.

Well, this is not a hallway, this is my room.

But, this is [indistinct].

There's like no walking space here.

So let's move right over here, okay.

[indistinct] I'm attempting not to fall or anything.

And this is the corner, basically.

I film in this corner right here.

So let's start with this, what I use.

Okay, move back to my face a bit, shall we?

So, right here we have the T3i, the Canon T3i.

I bought this from a friend of mine for really, really cheap.

Before I was using like a digital camera something,

the Canon PowerShot something

and, it was time to upgrade.

So this isn't the biggest upgrade in the world because it's a T3i,

but, you know.

I do really want the Canon 80D, but it's very expensive.

But Canon, if you want to hook a lady up for Christmas, I won't say no.

But I do have a Patreon, you know.

So, every support that I get towards the content that I make

goes towards equipment and stuff like that, so; just sayin'.

Trying to find a good angle.

Okay, so I have the T3i body, and then this is the lens I use,

the Sigma brand; I think it's the 18-35, is it?

Where are you?

I don't think you can see it very well.

Yeah, 18-35; pretty hard for us to focus and see.

But I always keep it in auto focus now,

because it's just easier.

And I have this big, gigantic tripod here, focus please.

I have this big tripod right here.

I got this from BH, B&H Photo Video, whatever,

and I bought that with my New York

YouTube NextUp New York money.

And I have this ring light that I also bought from YouTube NextUp.

In all honesty, I hate the ring light,

and I don't really use it anymore because I think I found

a setup lighting wise that you will find out about in a minute.

I really don't like this.

It's just annoying, and when I have the viewfinder out,

I can't see myself in the viewfinder with this;

I can never really see if my lighting is good or not,

and that's a whole rant for later in this video.

But yeah, I get the appeal of a ring light,

but for me personally, I don't really like it at all.

I might still try to fiddle with it,

especially with this new setup that I have going on here,

but I just; I really don't like it.

I have my teleprompter; I use this for scripted videos.

I love it, love it, love it, love it so much.

Before when I did scripted videos,

I would just read a line off my script, over and over and over and try to memorize it

word for word, and eventually just end up paraphrasing it,

and it took up SO much time, I hated it, it was so stressful.

So I finally got the teleprompter thanks to my friend, Riley J. Dennis.

She did a video about her setup I believe,

and she was talking about the teleprompter,

and I was like "I need this", it's small, it's perfect,

and I bought it, and I love it.

It does take a little bit of getting used to.

When I first used it,

I was sounding very robotic and I think I still do now,

but I'm okay with that.

And then we have the soft box.

This is the thing that I've had the longest,

and I just realized I've had my fan on this whole time,

but it's so hot! So, okay.

I have my soft box here.

This is what I try to use now.

I try to bounce it off this wall,

and then make it all nice and pretty over here.

Okay, I'm turning the fan off now.

I don't know if that's gonna make this any better.

I can't hear fan sounds; so, oh well.

Again, this is vlogging style anyway.

So, okay, let's get on to the thing that I really love the most,

and that's this right now.

So, I finally just finished setting up the background.

This is all eeveelutions, OK.

So you got Glaceon, Espeon, Eevee, Jolteon, Glaceon, Umbreon,

Vaporeon, and Flareon.

I got all of these from an Etsy seller; I'll put the link down below.

I don't remember the name of it right now.

About $100 for the whole set, and I actually have a Sylveon over there

on my desk.

I'm probably going to give that to a friend, so uh, but yeah.

I just wanted it.

A, it makes it nice and even,

and this is going to cover the whole entire viewfinder.

So, you won't see any white wall behind me.

So, before you only saw like, I think it was,

you had the Eevee on this side, and then Espeon on this side,

and there was so much white wall,

and I fee like that was affecting the lighting.

And stuff, I didn't really like it.

So I am hoping that having all this will even it out a little bit.

Probably not, I don't know,

because there are so many different colors going on.

At the very least, it'll look cooler.

I'm really, really proud I did this.

I hung it all up on my own.

There were a couple of retakes and what have you,

it was very frustrating.

I was doing a stream on YouNow while doing it.

I don't know why it took me so long to do this.

It took me about a year, or so.

But, I'm very happy with it; so I can't wait to film videos

with this wall, and I hope it turns out so well.

So, let me show you what it will look like using,

shutting off my main room light.

So this is essentially what it looks like.

Right now I have both switches on.

I go back and forth between one and two because I never know

how it's going to look; and I don't have the ring light on

because it's blinding, and I just don't like it.

I feel like it's too bright, and it makes things more difficult.

But let me stand here and see,

Woo! I look a little wonky right now.

But, I'm gonna play around with the lighting.

As you can see, this is a very small space,

especially you know right in this general area

where I have this, and there's no other room for this bookshelf,

and stuff, so it's very difficult

It's always been very difficult for me to get the correct lighting.

So, when I have inconsistent lighting, that's why.

I apologize. It's very frustrating for me.

But, when it comes to a space like this, I have to do...

I have to work with what I can.

But I'm hoping this will make a difference,

and I'll fiddle with it.

Yeah, that is my setup.

I really hope that you enjoy it as much as I do;

at least this part of it.

At the very least, please enjoy this part of my new background,

or part of my new setup, with me, because it's so beautiful.

The only thing is, you're only gonna see like,

you're not gonna see all of it, you're just gonna see like the middle,

but, yeah; this could've been a little bit lower.

But, after finishing it all by myself,

I was like "I'm too tired for this, I'm way too tired for this".

So yeah, I'm excited.

I'm gonna wrap this up,

and I'm gonna go film my first official video with this.

I'm SO excited!

So, I forgot to mention that I use a lav mic, lav mic,

I don't really know which way you pronounce it,

but it just looks like this.

I hook it up to my shirt,

and then you have this,

it's a little tangled right now,

but take this end, and I stick it into my iPhone 6

and then I just record the audio that way.

I record it separately now,

so I gotta sync my audio now,

but this sounds so much better than my last mic.

I'm very happy about it, and, uh, yeah.

3 Tips To Instantly Enhance Your Travel Videos - Duration: 6:05.

it's a very early day today it's an exciting day today

we're gonna shoot for Urban Gadgets in Fortune island it's the first time I'm

going there I know more or less what to expect but still it's gonna be a bit of

a discovery

it's 7:00 a.m. we're in Nasugbu this morning we woke up very early around

3:00 a.m. something like that

we are going to show you today some of the behind the scenes of our shoot and

give you a couple of tips in the process

part of the team today are behind me Janina you know already of course

Patrick are intern he will be the one filming the behind the scenes today and

help us with some shots also

So jonathan is the founder of Urban Gadgets and he is camera shy so I'm not

gonna I'm not gonna ask him to talk too much in front of the camera and explain

but maybe just two words, what is your concept about?

We want to inspire people by showing nice photos, nice videos, we want to equip them with the right tools

so they can create their own memories and we can show them how to do that and

we can inspire them on how to do it. The last part will be done the exploring

part you know after inspiring them we equip them and let them explore the

experience. Alright very good and you're not that shy anymore

Seems that we are having some technical issues with the boat right now as you can

see it's low tide and the boat is not on top of the water so we're trying to push

it but things are not exactly going as planned I guess.

What time is it? It's almost 8:00 I guess

OK we have almost 6 hours to shoot

So that's one of the challenge of today actually because we have to come back

early enough to avoid any issues because the waves might be a bit rough

the day will be quite short, so we have to make the most of it

We just arrived in Fortune Island and you can see behind me the columns and

lucky enough it seems that there is no one on the island we are the only one so

we're gonna make the most of it

As promised I'm going to give you a couple of tips to step up your game when

you guys are shooting some videos

and first add motion to your clip we are shooting videos here we are not shooting

stills, give some life to your clip by adding movement. Gimbals are getting

more and more popular even for cell phones or GoPro this will help you to

get a stabilized shot with smooth movement looking more cinematic even if

you don't own a gimbal you have other possibilities to avoid shaky videos

for instance you can use your strap make sure it's tight enough around your neck

hold your camera at two hands so you have three points of contact and more

stabilization now then don't be shy to move your whole body and use your legs

another tip to give more life to your videos is using people if the background

is already nice it's even more interesting when someone is entering or

getting out of frame. This way the viewer has two point of focus in a single clip

and it becomes more interesting to watch.

the thing is I'm gonna go down very quickly so the tilt down he's gonna do

must be very quick also the issue is with the gimbal the gimbal makes

everything smooth so when you go down might go too slow so it's nice to

rehearse before

and one last tip of the road if you have the opportunity to shoot a scene with

multiple angles and points of view do it it will give more life to your edit in

the end and make the scene more interesting to watch

We're done with the cliff-diving now it's time to go home because the sea is getting rough
