EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES LEARNING A LANGUAGE CAN GIVE YOU - Duration: 3:30.

have you ever thought about what wonderful opportunities learning a

foreign language can give you this is Susan Brodar from SPEAK Languages &

TRAVEL the World here to help you improve your English with minimum effort

a maximum benefit and you will be wondering what I'm doing here standing

next to a canal well I'm in the Netherlands I've come to see my daughter

who's studying here and of course she's got the advantage that she knows English

but she does speak other languages too and today I went to her University and

it was so exciting to see people of all different languages of all different

cultures in this international atmosphere learning the subject that I'm

sorry learning the subjects they've enrolled in and this gave me the thought

that learning a language which doesn't necessarily have to be English can give

you so many opportunities and we only have one life to live so we must live it

to the full doing as many exciting things as possible and I look back at

those people in my present and past life who go through their normal schooling

with no objectives in life except yes well then I'll get married I'll find a

job nothing exciting I mean yes they don't look outside their own small world

and instead once you learn a language whichever language you choose to learn

you can expand you can go out you can visit the world you can broaden your

horizons and you'll discover that everyone does everything in different

ways and there's no right way or wrong way just different ways to do things and

that's why I think it's so important to learn languages and of course now I'm

speaking about students and the younger generation but I have many retired

people I know who've been learning English with me because they want to be

able to travel now they've retired and they want to travel around

world and I met a German couple recently who had bought a new camper and had

written on it that they were too old to work but too young to just give up and

get bored at home but they would just fit enough to travel and that's what

they're doing and I think that's incredibly exciting so we must make the

best of this one life we have and learn a language and go out into the world and

enjoy and of course if you manage to travel around may also give you some

different job opportunities I've happened to my father who didn't stay in

one country because he spoke various languages and was able to also give me

and my sister many opportunities to visit other countries in the world as a

result of his job so don't forget you if you lose moot motivation to study don't

forget that it's really important and even if it's hard it's really well worth

it and I hope this was very interesting for you see you in the next video and

don't forget to subscribe bye

Sadhguru - I can give you a method, but I have no answers. - Duration: 12:18.

Sadhguru: The word sanyas or brahmacharya means

to be on the path of the divine.

When is the right age?

I think that should be the first thing that you do in your life.

When is the right age to get married that is subject to social situations

and above all these thoughts come to you because

till you were 10, 11, 12, 13 also maybe you were okay,

tch, after that suddenly this chemical cocktail of hormones

got into your system; now you looked,

suddenly everybody looks different.

(Laughter) Once it so happened,

Shankaran Pillai went to a party and when he came out of the party

he told his wife, "You know, alcohol makes you look so beautiful."

(Laughter) The wife said,

"Well, I didn't have a drop."

(Laughter) "No not you, me."

(Laughter) So a little bit of hormone entered your system

and suddenly everything started looking different.

After this hormone leaves your system then you look back at your life and see

"Did I do all these things?"

(Laughter) Before they came also it looked like that,

after it's gone also it looked like that.

That in-between period when you are being spiked from inside (Laughs)

suddenly everything looks different.

Very few human beings are capable of keeping this spiking aside and look at

life the way it is and then enjoy the spiking only to the extent

it's needed.

All others are driven by it, they shape their lives around it.

So, sanyas means just this, that you are not shaping your life

around a temporary influence of chemicals on your system.

It's a little bit of inebriation, you know, suddenly everything looks different.

"So when should I go beyond these things?"

Sanyas is not a process of suppression or denial;

it's a process of transcendence.

When should you transcend?

As quickly as possible.

Yes?

When should you suppress?

Never, because suppression is not a solution;

transcendence is a solution.

Transcendence is not only a solution, it is way beyond that.

It is beyond the problem.

So, whenever we are trapped in our limitations somewhere we start thinking

this limitation is the only reality.

This limitation is not the only reality.

You remember a time when there was no sexuality and there was no talk about going beyond

as a child.

Isn't it so?

Yes?

So, this is an in-between phase.

Nature don't believe all the funny things that

happen within you and all the romantic thoughts that go in your

head, nature just wants to reproduce.

If it doesn't drive you, you wouldn't do it.

All the pain involved in delivering a child but still we are over-populated.

Hmm?

That wouldn't happen if there wasn't enough drive from inside.

Tch…

You are spiked from inside, sabotaged from inside.

Once your hormones hijacked your intelligence after that wherever you look you see only

that.

It takes a certain level of awareness and capability

to look beyond that.

This is not a denial but being able to see beyond that.

Once you see beyond that you understand the limitations of what this

is.

What is limited should be handled in limited way.

You don't have to invest your whole life on it, isn't it?

Yes?

A small aspect of your life should only get that much attention.

If that spreads through your consciousness then that'll become a crippling life.

So, sanyas is a realization of this and when you have the ability to transcend,

yes.

So, now you also want to know what happens after death.

I think some things you know best only by experience.

(Laughter) Just like marriage; (Laughter)

you know it only best by experience.

Somebody else tells you a million things; it's not true, isn't it?

It's your experience.

So, this has always been the vein; this has always been the line

that people have been taking.

If anybody appears in front of you

who happens to be a Guru or claims to be one, immediately the first thing you ask is

"What is life?

What is death?"

See what you are asking is, I want you to understand,

decipher your question down a little more and see

what is it that you are asking?

You are asking, "What is the nature of my life?"

Isn't it so?

When you ask what is death – "Where will I go?"

You want to know what is the nature of this;)

what will happen beyond this body?

So you are asking "Who am I?"

I am asking, why are you asking me?

See if you go on the street and ask somebody

"Who are you" – all right.

If you go on the street and ask somebody "Who am I,"

you get instantly arrested.

(Laughter) This happened in the Cincinnati airport;

people were standing in a queue to check in at the check-in counter.

One man comes, jumps the whole line and just goes straight to the lady behind

the counter and

She says, "Sir, please go stand in the line.

Everybody is in the line."

He said, "No, no, no, I am in a hurry.

Please check me in."

She said, "Everybody is in a hurry.

Please stand in the line."

Then he raised his voice and said, "Do you know who I am?"

The lady promptly picked up the microphone and she said,

"There is a man here who doesn't know who he is.

Can somebody help him?

Can somebody help him?"

You are alive right now.

If you want to know what this is, this is where you should look,

not somewhere else.

So, unfortunately you are with me.

If you were with the right kind of spiritual people

they would have immediately told you, "You are atman,

you are… you are ever for … you know, all pervading, you are forever,

you are this, you are God's embodiment."

You want to hear this bull from me?

(Laughter) They would have told you all these things.

Now, don't think I am confusing you because I don't have to make such effort,

you are already confused.

(Laughter) Do I have to make any effort in that direction?

I don't have to make any direction (effort?); you are thoroughly confused, isn't it?

But confusion is a better state than stupid conclusions.

Yes?

Confusion is a little better state than idiotic conclusions that you have made.

Conclusion means death; confusion means still a possibility.

Yes or no?

Confusion means still a possibility, you are still looking.

Conclusion is death, you are finished.

You are a written off case.

'I am atman' - you are finished.

(Laughter) So what happens, death

we'll find out in some time.

(Laughter) Right now

what's happening now?

If you eat a banana, banana becomes a human being;

something phenomenal is happening now, isn't it?

Let's find out what's happening now.

There is something inside here which can make a piece of bread into a human

being.

Tch We must find out what's happening now.

If you understand, if you experience what's happening now

beyond the physicality of who you are, even after the body is done

still you know what's happening.

If you are unable to know it now how will you know what's after death?

So, if you are looking for spirituality for solace

or for entertainment you just came to the wrong place.

I am not an entertainer, (Laughs) nor am I a solace peddler.

If you are seeking a solution then we can beat out a path for you to walk,

not an answer.

You understand?

I have no answers for any damn questions you ask.

If the question is true, if the question is genuine,

if the pain of ignorance is tearing you apart, if the pain of not knowing is truly bothering

you then I can give you a method,

I can give you a way to find a solution

but I have no answers because all answers are just stories

which will either solace you or entertain you.

Dave Shuler, Co-Founder of Y2X: How Can Secondary Markets Develop for Security Tokens? - Duration: 2:00.

My name is David Shuler, I'm co-founder

of Y2X, we're based in New York, and we are a

merchant bank. Among the things we're

going to be doing is issuing securities

tokens so this opportunity to be here at

the ST-20 conference is fantastic,

because we need to come up with an

industry standard and the industry needs

an industry standard in order to make

securities tokens work. This is a very

exciting time to be here because all of

us have common interests in making this

very exciting and very dynamic part of

the ecosystem come together and I think

working with Polymath and

the others that are here that Trevor has

assembled is a great opportunity to

make progress in this. The progress is great.

There's obviously a lot of challenges

there's a lot of very specific things

that we need to get right in order to

make securities tokens work as

effectively as they can we're not going

to solve everything today but I think

we're making a lot of progress in the

right direction and we've got the right

people around the table and the Polymath

team has been asking all the right

questions which is great. So our role

primarily is as an issuer so we will

be working with companies that are

issuing securities tokens and in order

for us to to work with those companies

we need to tell them what specifically-

what specific things they need to figure

out things like how they're going to do

dividends how they're going to track the

number of shareholders that are on their

registry how they're going to have better

communication with those shareholders

the other things that you can do with

securities tokens and getting all of

that right is very important for us in

order to have secondary markets develop

as well in the securities token world.

This is a great opportunity. I saw who

was on the roster I saw the others that

were coming I know the great work that

Trevor and Polymath have been doing in

the space and the chance to be here with

other people who are thinking about how

to resolve these same problems was

something I didn't want to pass by.

Is Your Personality Fixed, Or Can You Change Who You Are? | Invisibilia | NPR - Duration: 3:36.

The marshmallow test.

You might know about this iconic social experiment —

there are many references to it in pop culture.

But what if I told you that what you've been told is the point of the marshmallow test

is actually completely wrong?

So, here's the basics of how it works.

You sit a kid in front of a delicious marshmallow and tell them that you're gonna leave the

room, and if they can resist the marshmallow until you come back,

they will get two marshmallows instead of one.

It's a test of delayed gratification: controlling immediate desires

in the service of long-term interest.

A small test, seen as having huge implications.

"The kids who successfully delay gratification at this age do much better later in life.

They make more money, they are happier, they have better relationships, and they're less

likely to get into trouble."

So that idea caught fire.

The marshmallow test seemed to prove that we have these static personality traits deep

inside us, and those traits determine the rest of our lives.

There is only one tiny problem with this interpretation.

"That iconic story is upside-down wrong, that your future is in a marshmallow,

because it isn't."

That's Walter Mischel, the guy who actually created the marshmallow test, and he told

me that literally the point of the original marshmallow study was to demonstrate not how

fixed but how flexible people are, how easily changed, if they simply reinterpret the way

that they frame the situation around them.

"The same little girl who can't wait for even a half minute for two little Oreo cookies

— if she tries it, and I tell her ahead of time, 'You can make believe that they're

not really there, it's just a picture in your head,' the same child waits fifteen minutes."

Though of course, that's not the moral that our culture drew.

" 'It's your destiny, your future's in a marshmallow!' And it's far from your destiny."

"People can use their wonderful brains to think differently about situations, to reframe

them, to reconstrue them, to even reconstrue themselves."

All that stuff in your mind — your beliefs, cultural expectations, family upbringing,

friendships — that stuff, Mischel explains, profoundly influences how you see the world.

Your brain uses it as a filter to interpret everything around you.

So when the stuff in someone's mind changes, they change.

This is why Mischel sees people as fundamentally flexible.

He tells me that is the single most important thing that he has stood for

in his whole professional life.

"What my life has been about is in showing the potential for human beings to not be the

victims of their biographies — not their biological biographies, not their social biographies

— and to show, in great detail, the many ways in which people can change

what they become and how they think."

Can you know at a glance how fresh the fish is when they go to a sushi restaurant? [All about] - Duration: 10:01.

I've always liked animals since I was young

So when there's any sick or hurt animal

I took them to the hospital and cured it

I wanted to take care of it while I was working

I was looking for a job which I can be with the animals, and aquarist wanted to be it

I was more attractive to marine animal

I thought I wonderful it would be if I could work in the sea

So I thought of aquarist

Q0. What kind of fields are there?

There are fish part and marine mammal part.

There are people who take care of monkey and birds

People who take care of aquariam

It's called the LSS part, and there are many kinds of people like this

Q1. How do you know if they are sick?

We usually observe them at a regular basis

But if they behave abnormally

Or they show weird behavior when feeding them

Or the tentacle of jellyfish is cut

Or the jellyfish's head is crooked

Or they swim in a weird way. We just notice it

Or there are times when they fake as if they aren't in pain

(Then) we use our senses

If we think they are sick , we collaborate with the veteran

We take test for culturing bacteria

And we take virus test

We try to catch what kind of disease it is, or how it is infected

We take appropriate measures and medicine

To cure the animals

We can mix it with their favorite food

(for the fish) we mix the medicine with water

Then we put the fish in and try a medicated bath

For the marine mammals when we have to draw blood

We stay low when they have to stay low

And if they have to stay still during training or getting diagnosed

We practice medical training for them to be comfortable with stethoscope

Then veteran can come and we can diagnose more precisely and quickly

Q2. Do you have occupational disease?

We have to give fish to the marine mammal

For the animals, we give them the best ones

The freshest ones

So we know what the bad ones and the good ones are

When we go to the market and see the fishes

'That looks old'

We naturally think like that

We know the price well too

Squids are really expensive these days so we can't eat them

When we go to the fish market

We notice their condition

And see if they're healty

When the aquarium equipment is like stairs, we know that it's trustworthy.

When we went to the port,

This man brought a gray mullet

And said it's really fresh

But for me 'It's barely breathing'

These are kind of symptoms that we see

They say it's fresh because it's alive

We get really tired when we go to Noriyangjin (fish market)

Their eyes are screaming, 'I'm sick!'

Q. Do you interact with the fish?

When I feel like I'm communicating with them

Is when I go under the water and see them

(under the water) it's very quiet and so many fish are there

When I make eye contact with them, then I feel as if it's interaction

Like mammals or higher organisms

We can't interact with them by a certain behavior but,

We can interact with them in that environment

Marine mammals interact during the medical training

For example, for an otter training,

We make plans by stage 1, stage , stage 3

If the animal is sick, we have to take care of it

and we should help them to do it immediately.

Also, we make big gestures to prevent them from getting bored,

We do Animal Enrichment for them

PD: What is the Animal Enrichment?

'animal welfare' is

For the animals to maintain good life

We have to be an assistant for them

They are here everyday

So for them to live happily and differently.

When we give them toys and food, we think of all sorts of ways

We want the animals to be free from stress. We are studying and trying new things everyday

Q4. Can fish trained? (Do you train fish?)

Fish?

Maybe?

When we give them food, they come up just by raising a hand. Don't you think that's training?

It's probably an instinct

(fish) brain is very small and is a lower animal

They aren't trained in high level like dogs or cats

They just try to survive by repeating

The sea elephants, water seals are all clever

They all understand our signals

They are very smart

They are not as smart as dolphins

But they have very high intellectual

Penguins are not as clever as the mammals

And they have low training ability but not so bad

Q5. DO you have to have some kind of certificate?

That's the most frequent question I am asked

I go in the water and do a lot of things

So I have a certificate for that

As a basic

Or if you get a certificate for the marine disease manager,

You learn how you can cure the fish

And we learn about how we can acknowledge the cause of the disease

While we prepare to become an aquarist or a zookeeper

There are engineer livestock or trainer

There's nursing part

When you prepare for all these things, I think it's useful someday. And foreign language too

There are limits to study about animals when you're only in Korea

There are almost no Korean books at all

That's why you have to look into research papers

So when you have to look over the foreign research papers

You have to be proficient at foreign language

You have to manage the animals as well as

Showing the animals to the customers

And explain

So I think it would be helpful to study Chinese, English, and Japanese

Q6. What do you have to major in?

I think most of the employees are from animal-related majors

I'm from marine science major

I studied marine organisms

I majored in marine medical major

How do we cure sick fish

What kind of disease is this

Was the main subject we studied

Stock breeding for the mammals

And pet related major

There are people who are from non-animal related majors

And most of the things that we learn at school

Is from the eatable organisms

The way that they are bred in fish farms

And the way they we take care of them in aquarium is whole different story

The medicine for the cure

Or the way we treat them is the difference

(Now) the part where animals live in the better environment

Is the part that we study

Q7. Are there any dangerous moments?

Unless we pick on them or give them stress

When they attack us, we don't display them at all

Animals don't bite off of people without any reason

But we want to cure them

Or want to give them diagnosis

Then they think we want to hurt them

So they try their best to hurt us

we get bitten sometimes

Then it's really painful. And if it's a big animal, then it leads to a big accident

Security equipment from head to toe

Is meant to be worn

When you go in the water, going in alone is forbidden

So we go in and protect each other

When we are hurt, they are often the times when

We feed them

Because when we

Decide we want to feed them

We concentrate on them

They get food from the dead zone

And get hurt

But when we're hurt, it's not like we are hurt badly

For the sea elephants, they weigh 700kg each

So you don't go in the water with them

People get used to it

Even if I get hurt from the jelly fish

And I still feed them

'Oh I need to be careful'

'I'm sorry if I gave you stress'

PD: When you watch an animation, penguins are really smart

Pororo?

Pingu?

I haven't watched it

PD: Do you feel any different when you see Pororo?

I've never seen it

I'm still single

Can Cannabis Help Mental Illness? - Duration: 9:19.

On Nature League, we spend the third week of each month exploring a current trending

article from the peer-reviewed literature.

Scientific information isn't just for scientists- it's for everyone!

It just requires a bit of a break down.

[CHEERY INTRO MUSIC]

For this month's De-Natured segment, we're going to look at an article released in August

2018 in the Journal of the American Medical Association Psychiatry.

This month is all about plants, and in this month's Lesson Plan we began by mentioning

that most organisms on Earth depend on plants to live.

Not only do plants provide oxygen to the atmosphere, but they serve as the energy starting point

for many living food webs.

But in the realm of human medicine, plants and their isolated compounds can yield much

more than oxygen and food- especially in the case of cannabis.

In this paper entitled, "Effect of Cannabidiol on Medial Temporal, Midbrain, and Striatal

Dysfunction in People at Clinical High Risk of Psychosis", the researchers report the

results of a new clinical trial that investigated how cannabidiol, or CBD, can affect individuals

at high risk of psychosis.

So here's what's already known.

Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants- plants that have been used by humans for thousands

of years for a multitude of purposes.

Two well-known varieties of plants in this genus are commonly known as hemp and marijuana.

Two chemical compounds have contributed to the well-known nature of Cannabis plants.

The first is cannabidiol, or CBD, and it's primarily found in hemp.

The second compound is tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, and it's primarily found in marijuana.

While both compounds have the exact same molecular formula, THC is psychoactive, meaning it can

create a high, or euphoria.

But what do cannabis plants have to do with psychiatry?

That's where brain chemistry comes in.

The reason our bodies react to CBD and THC at all has to do with the fact that human

brains have an endocannabinoid system.

Alterations in this system are associated with the symptom of psychosis, which can be

generally defined as a loss of contact with reality.

While some research has shown that regular cannabis use can be a risk factor for developing

psychosis, especially in teenagers, these findings specifically refer to THC.

The other compound, CBD, can actually have the opposite effect.

In fact, some clinical studies have shown that CBD has antipsychotic properties for

people with certain mental disorders.

Despite a growing body of evidence that CBD can be beneficial to those suffering psychotic

symptoms, scientists have yet to figure out how.

To address this, the research team observed the effects of CBD on three specific regions

of the brain in people at clinical high risk of psychosis.

The first of these regions is the medial temporal lobe, or MTL, and its primary function has

to do with new learning.

The other regions are the midbrain and striatum, which also contribute to learning in the form

of helping to encode and update information in our memory.

To observe the effect of CBD on the brain, the team had participants perform something

called the verbal paired associate learning task, or VPA.

Participants at clinical high risk of psychosis, referred to as CHR, were recruited as well

as healthy control participants who were not at CHR.

For the purposes of this video, we'll refer to CHR participants as high risk participants

to get away from being too bogged down in initializations.

In the study, high risk participants were randomly assigned to a CBD treatment or placebo treatment.

After taking the assigned drug, participants performed a VPA task while having their brain

scanned using functional MRI.

The healthy control group didn't receive any drug treatment, but they still did the

tests and imaging.

But what exactly did the VPA task entail?

It actually has three separate testing conditions: encoding, recall, and baseline.

During encoding, participants answered yes or no to whether a pair of words went well together.

So for example, "sharks" and "awesome" - definite yes!

In the recall condition, participants were shown one of the words they saw during encoding

and asked to say which word it had been paired with.

The baseline bit was a control of sorts where the participant looked at a blank version

of the setup they'd seen during encoding and recall.

The response of the brain during the VPA task was measured using fMRI.

Specifically, the scan measured the blood oxygen level-dependent, or BOLD, response

of the brain.

Basically, this allowed the researchers to measure the flow and composition of blood

in the brain during the encoding and recall parts of the VPA task.

Then, they could compare these responses to the baseline results.

So what did they find?

Overall, high risk participants who were assigned a placebo had several regions of the brain

activate differently than people in the control group.

Similar to previous studies, these regions included the three thought to be associated

with psychosis.

The specific hypothesis the team was testing was whether participants at high risk who

were given CBD would have a level of brain activation in between the activation levels

of the control group, and the high risk group who were given placebo.

The team did find this middle ground activation in the striatum during encoding, and in the

parahippocampal cortex and midbrain during recall.

These results suggest that for these specific brain regions, CBD may help normalize brain

responses in individuals at clinical high risk of psychosis.

This article was published in the one of the most prestigious families of medical journals.

In addition to academic circles, the results have made headlines in the news as well.

Here are some reasons why I think this study is capturing both scientists and citizens.

First of all, the results are directly relevant to helping humans.

Unlike some other articles that we've discussed on De-Natured, this study has a direct human

end use, and an important one.

Mental health disorders affect people in every walk of life, and in the case of psychosis,

as many as 3 in 100 people in the U.S. will experience the symptom of psychosis at some

point in their lives.

Another reason I think this study made the cut is because the research team was the first

to do something.

In this case, they are the first to give evidence of how CBD acts in the brain to reduce psychotic

symptoms.

This is a major level up from just knowing that CBD can reduce these symptoms.

And of course, whenever there's a promising discovery in the medical field, there's

the potential for profit.

There is a growing body of literature supporting the use of CBD for medicinal purposes.

And that means major money for those involved in supplying the product.

In the United States alone, hemp-derived CBD is predicted to soon become a billion dollar

market, and that's without federal legalization.

There is undoubtedly a lot to gain from using this particular plant product for medical

treatments, and money is certainly part of that gain.

The devil is in the methods section when it comes to issues in experimental design.

However, this research team did a great job of removing potentially confounding variables

and removing bias where possible.

For example, the study design was parallel-group, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and randomized.

Randomization allows the researchers to remove the bias that comes from assigning specific

people to specific treatments.

It's picking names out of a hat instead of, say, because you like their asymmetrical haircut.

Double blind trials are ones where the participant and the researcher aren't in on who was

assigned which treatment.

That way, the researchers are less likely to be looking for certain associations.

If a researcher knew a participant had been given the CBD, they might start looking for

some kind of result, or jump to conclusions unintentionally.

We just can't help ourselves when it comes to investigating things- it's impossible

to not start explaining what we see, and double-blinding a trial is a great way to avoid that.

What about the "parallel groups" bit of the research design?

This piece is actually more of a limitation of the study.

In parallel group studies, each participant only receives one of the treatments, and then

those people are compared to separate individuals who received the other treatment.

In this study, this meant that the high risk participants either received the CBD or the

placebo, but none of them were actually observed under the effects of both.

With a non-crossover design, the baseline is a bit iffy.

I mean, just think about how different we all are when it comes to chemical reactions!

Take alcohol, for example.

Comparing you sober to a friend who's had a bit to drink might be a completely different

story than if you reversed the roles.

Luckily, the researchers do an awesome job of pointing out limitations like this in the

discussion section of the paper.

They mention the issue of the parallel design structure, and suggest that a study be done

where each high risk participant be tested with both the placebo and CBD treatment.

That said, they mention that the two high risk groups were reasonably similar in terms

of demographics and baseline health measures.

This does, however, lead me to another critique of the study, and that is the sample pool

of participants.

One potential problem area has to do with sample size.

There were 15 high risk participants assigned CBD, 16 high risk participants assigned the

placebo, and 19 age matched healthy controls.

While these numbers do allow for testing statistical significance at the cutoff levels the team

was interested in, more is almost always better when it comes to determining the strength

of an effect.

There's also the issue of diversity.

In the table showing sociodemographic measures, the paper only reports age, sex, and education level.

However, there's no mention of variables like race and ethnicity, meaning that this

could be yet another psychiatry study done on a Caucasian sample.

Conducting research on participants of varied backgrounds is essential to understanding

the full picture of drug-brain interactions.

Here's the thing.

Humans and non-human animals have been using plants for medicinal purposes throughout the

history of their time on Earth.

Understanding how the chemicals in certain plants can affect our brains is a really complicated

area of research, and a study like this one is just a single piece of that journey.

As the research team put it themselves, this wasn't so much of a clinical study as it

was a proof of concept, pilot study.

It's exciting to imagine what we might find next when it comes to this amazing kingdom

of life on Earth.

Can a Christian be Demon Possessed? | Can a Christian be Demonized | GotQuestions.org - Duration: 3:55.

Today's question is, "Can a Christian be demon possessed?

Can a Christian be demonized?"

In this video I'll answer that question from a biblical perspective.

Afterwards, as always, I'll share some helpful resources, so stick around until the end.

While the Bible does not explicitly state whether a Christian can be possessed by a

demon, related biblical truths make it abundantly clear that Christians cannot be demon possessed.

There is a distinct difference between being possessed by a demon and being oppressed or

influenced by a demon.

Demon possession involves a demon having direct or complete control over the thoughts and/or

actions of a person (Luke 4:33-35).

Demon oppression or influence involves a demon or demons attacking a person spiritually and/or

encouraging him/her into sinful behavior.

Notice that in all the New Testament passages dealing with spiritual warfare, there are

no instructions to cast a demon out of a believer (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Believers are told to resist the devil (James 4:7), not to cast him out.

Christians are indwelt by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9-11).

Surely the Holy Spirit would not allow a demon to possess the same person He is indwelling.

It is unthinkable that God would allow one of His children, whom He purchased with the

blood of Christ and made into a new creation, to be possessed and controlled by a demon.

Yes, as believers, we wage war with Satan and his demons, but not from within ourselves.

The apostle John declares, "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because

the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

Who is the One in us?

The Holy Spirit.

Who is the one in the world?

Satan and his demons.

Therefore, the believer has overcome the world of demons, and the case for demon possession

of a believer cannot be made scripturally.

With the strong biblical evidence that a Christian cannot be demon possessed in view, some Bible

teachers use the term "demonization" to refer to a demon having control over a Christian.

Some argue that while a Christian cannot be demon possessed, a Christian can be demonized.

Typically, the description of demonization is virtually identical to the description

of demon possession.

So, the same issue results.

Changing the terminology does not change the fact that a demon cannot inhabit or take full

control of a Christian.

Demonic influence and oppression are realities for Christians, no doubt, but it is simply

not biblical to say that a Christian can be possessed by a demon or demonized.

Much of the reasoning behind the demonization concept is the personal experience of seeing

someone who was "definitely" a Christian exhibiting evidence of being controlled by

a demon.

It is crucially important, though, that we do not allow personal experience to influence

our interpretation of Scripture.

Rather, we must filter our personal experiences through the truth of Scripture (2 Timothy

3:16-17).

Seeing someone whom we thought to be a Christian exhibiting the behavior of being demonized

should cause us to question the genuineness of his or her faith.

It should not cause us alter our viewpoint on whether a Christian can be demon possessed

or demonized.

Perhaps the person truly is a Christian but is severely demon oppressed and/or suffering

from severe psychological problems.

But again, our experiences must meet the test of Scripture, not the other way around.

How Work Can Make You Younger - Duration: 4:54.

Have you ever wondered why work actually extracts from your health?

I mean, think about it, most people at work,

work because of stress, work because of sitting down for hours

at a time actually makes you unhealthier. It makes you sicker.

It makes you age faster. But what if you could flip this around?

What if work can actually make you younger, fitter, healthier?

What if going to an office can actually extend your lifespan?

So these are things which I'm obsessed with right now. And these are ideas that

I'm bringing to Mindvalley. Take a look at this picture.

These are people from Mindvalley who just ran a Spartan Race in a freacking typhoon

in the Philippines. And you know what? This Sunday, another 20 of us are

going to go for training for the next Spartan Race. Our people are getting

so fit, getting so much younger biologically, getting so much healthier

and stronger that now, they need to do something with all of that

energy and health, they're taking part in freacking Spartan Races.

Check out that guy in the middle of that picture. His name is Jason Campbell.

He's from Canada. Let me tell you his story.

So I knew when I stepped on a scale and it read 200 pounds,

I wanted to do something about it. But here I am, a Canadian who loves

eating cheese, I love poutine, and I know that the average American,

once you pass 30, you actually start gaining a pound every year,

and I just hit my 30 years old. This is not the trend that I want

to continue. I want to do something about it, but I don't want to spend hours

in the gym. And I was very lucky, the fact that I'm part of Mindvalley and

they developed this protocol called 10X, and then within no time,

I find myself spending less than 15 minutes in the gym, once a week,

and I'm able to completely transform my body. Just by eating better,

keeping that routine, and not taking all of that time,

and I don't even crave the old things. And thank god I'm part of this environment

that supports me making those decisions. And today, I'm more ripped than I've

ever been, even before when I was 20, and I'm 30 years old.

I'm going to keep this way. This is fantastic.

So what are the strategies that we are using on our people?

Well, I want to show it to you. Follow me. So this, this it the gym that we just

installed in Mindvalley. Now, you don't need a gym in your office,

but this one helps us accelerate our training better. And this is Ronan.

Ronan is in charge of the Health Division here in Mindvalley, helps us develop our

health programs and also runs Mindvalley's Human Advancement Lab which basically does

scientific tests on our people to see how we can engineer the best health and

wellness growth. So Ronan, you're pretty ripped,

and a lot of people here at Mindvalley are getting pretty ripped.

But what mystifies most people is how much time they spend in the gym.

How much time do you need in a gym, according to science,

to really accelerate your muscle development?

Not even an hour, half-an-hour per week is enough.

Half an hour per week. Okay, pay attention to that.

We're not talking any other form of exercise other than half-an-hour per week,

in a gym, doing a specific set of exercises, five exercises specifically.

Now, this is studied is by science. In fact, what science says is that if you

go to gym more than once a week doing these exercises, you actually slow

down your muscle growth because of something called recovery time.

Ronan, tell us about these five exercises.

These are five exercises that use your entire body. You have horizontal and

vertical plains, push and pull movements. These exercise are chest press

for your chest, shoulder overhead press for the shoulders, mid row for the back,

lat pulldown for the back, and leg press for the legs.

Great. So I showed a picture on Instagram recently, right,

with my health transformation. Now part of that was WildFit.

WildFit made me lose all my excess fat and improve my skin and my energy and then

with that extra energy, I'm like, "I want to get fucking ripped."

And so I started going into the super slow strength protocols.

Now, these were popularised by a medical doctor by the name of Doug McGuff.

He wrote a whole book on them called<i> Body by Science,</i> so we decided to go deep

into some of the research coming up from that book and from universities

like McMaster University and to engineer exercise protocols that turn our people

here into the best they can be. We brought this at A-Fest,

we do this at Mindvalley U. We're about to finish over a hundred

human trials, and it'll probably take another six months, but I want to share

with you the five exercises and what we are finding.

Let's do it.

So the best part about this is while being in between meetings,

so waiting for your coffee to brew, we can pop into the gym and start

working out, two minutes, and already see dramatic results

in our bodies. So I love this approach. And if you want to know more,

follow Mindvalley on Instagram, @mindvalley and I'll see you there.

There's no doubt that horses are a standout amongst one of the most fascinating creatures

on Earth.

The majestic animals are friendly and kind-hearted.

They are essentially captivating!

Something else that constantly captivates people are optical illusions.

We love to source different ways to challenge ourselves and to test how well our eyes and

mind can function.

In the 70's, acclaimed craftsman Bev Doolittle and her significant other traveled the southwestern

US.

On her trip, she was motivated to paint this noteworthy and unusual painting.

As far back as its creation, individuals have been asking one question: how numerous ponies

are there in the photo?

The excellent painting portrays a disguising impact which makes it hard to figure out the

majestic creatures from the background.

Not very many individuals figure it out on their first attempt.

Would you be able to do it?

Give it a try …Ready, set and go!

Did you figure it out?

Try to look more closely before looking down to the answer.

Solution:

So it seems there are 5 horses in the photo.

Four in the center, and one to the extreme left.

Are there additional?

A few people guarantee that there's a 6th and the seventh horse is in this canvas.

These individuals say that there's a 6th pony behind the ones in the center.

Honestly, I do not see it, however, you may be one of the ones who do.

There's likewise a rough outcropping behind the group, which can be deciphered as an abstract

horse.

You decide for yourself – however actually, I think 5 is the correct answer!

Obviously, just 1 out of 7 individuals can recognize the quintet on their first attempt!

If you were able to find at least 5 then please Share this with your friends and family and
