Career Advice for Millennials from Google's Chief Evangelist - Duration: 1:01.

Any professional has to go back and

regularly practice the fundamentals. So

if you look at somebody like Michael

Phelps or Kobe Bryant even though they

are the best in their sport swimming and

basketball respectively they are still

in the pool or on the basketball court

during practice every single week and as

professional speaker and representing

Google and speaking on a public forum I

have to go back and practice the

fundamentals and that's why I keep going

back to Toastmasters. The advice I would

give to a young professional starting

out his or her career is to work on the

communication skills because that is how

you'll be seen perceived and received in

the world and this is how you can be

effective you can be persuasive and you

can sell your ideas.

Therefore the simple advice is join

Toastmasters and work on that skill.

How to Mirror Android to PC/Mac Using Airdroid - Duration: 5:52.

Let me state a problem.

I charge my phone here in the studio but then I always do my work outside, where my computer

station is.

That means when I get a notification, I have to physically come into this room and check

my phone just for the notifications.

That's a little inconvenient, to say the least, but I'm not sure how many of you can relate

to that.

So, let me state a more common issue.

You come into work, you're on your phone texting a buddy, and you put down your phone, and

you start working on the computer but they text you back.

Now, you're already accustommed to typing on the computer keyboard, and switching back

to the phone keyboard to type away with your fingers seems a little inconvenient.

I found a solution for both of our problems, using this app called Airdroid.

Now, first of all I know a lot of these app videos are actually sponsored, but let me

tell you now that this app video is not sponsored.

I found Airdroid on my own, I don't even have premium.

Although, if you want to sponsor me, hit me up!

So, if you've had a similar issue to mine, you may have heard of an app called Vysor.

I've personally read a few articles about Vysor, but the issue with Vysor is you have

to pay for it.

Airdroid on the other hand, for what I want to use it for, it is free. Obviously, Airdroid

is for Android phones, and you can use it with a Windows computer, or a Mac computer,

and even Linux machines, I think, if you're running the web version.

So, setting up Airdroid is very simple.

Essentially, you have to download the app from the play store, and then sign up for

an account and log in.

Then, on your computer side, whether you're doing it via the web browser or the downloadable

client, you will be prompted to log into the same account you created on your phone.

Once you're in, you're essentially connected to your phone.

What's nice is, if your phone and your computer are on the same internet connection, it'll

become a local connection, meaning you won't have to use up any of your bandwidth to interact

with your phone.

Also, speeds are faster this way.

Here are some things you can do, using Airdroid for your phone.

You can transfer files form your computer to your phone.

Or from your phone to your computer.

You can transfer your clipboard from your phon eto your computer, or your computer to

your phone.

So that means if you copied something from your computer, and you want to paste it into

your phone, you can actually transfer it over to your phone's clipboard, and paste it that

way, and it might be faster.

You can mange your text messages using your computer, so no longer do you have to pick

up your phone and type your text message to whoever you're texting, you can just do it

from the computer using your keyboard.

You can manage your phone's notifications from your computer, so you don't have

to look down at it every time you hear it make a noise.

You can record your phone's screen from the app itself or from the computer side which

I find would be very useful, especially if you want to make YouTube videos!

I know there are a lot of Clash of CLans channels and Clash Royalem and just mobile gaming channels

in general.

Using Airdroid, you can get your own channel started! If you're recording via the desktop

client, you will get no sound, so I do not recommend doing that, but recording via the

phone app...

You can chose from a variety of settings, I'd probably recommend a lower quality because

it's lagging even on my Nexus 6P when I record at 1080p, but you do get audio.

The issue is, it also records whatever is outside.

That might be an issue for you, but it can't record sound internally.

So what happens is, it uses the micriphone, and whatever noise comes out of your speaker,

also goes into the microphone, so you get your phone's noise, and you can also commentate

over it, if that's what you want to do.

Unfortunately, you can't make a video that just doesn't have external noise; it doesn't

work that way.

Watermarking is very limited, there's a small widget, it's not even a watermark; it's a

widget that you can drag around the screen.

Just leave it in a corner, it tells you how long you've been recording for and your recording

status.

I wish it wasn't in the way, but it's kind of useful.

Last but not least, obviously my favourite feature is the screen mirroring feature.

What this allows you to do is pretty much put your phone onto your computer screen.

So you can preview your phone screen, you can interact with it by clicking around, it'll

behave as if you were putting a finger on the phone's screen.

There's also a mode that allows you to use your computer's keyboard on your phone while

you're using your phone.

So you can be tapping around, and then when you have to type something, just put your

phone down and use your computer's keyboard, and it'll go straight to your phone.

Pretty useful.

Getting this one set up takes a little more work.

What you have to do is, you have to plug your phone into the machine that you want to be

controlling it from, enable USB debugging on the phone, pair your device, and then you

can unplug your phone and never have to do that again.

Except, I found that I had to do it again from time to time.

After I downloaded the desktop client, I never had to do it again.

So I think I would recommend the desktop client if you want to use the screen mirroring feature

often, but it is missing a few features.

The desktop client does not allow you to transfer files from the phone to your computer.

To do that, you have to use the web client.

Honestly, the web client just has more features, so if you could use that, I'd recommend sticking

to that instead of using the desktop client.

It's also more compatible, there's no desktop client for Linux machines, but if you can

get Chrome running, you can probably use Airdroid on it.

There isn't very much I dislike about this app.

I mean, I haven't been using it for the longest time, but it's a pretty straight forward app.

I think maybe if the screen mirroring performance could be improved a little bit, that would

be amazing.

I mean, the quality isn't that great, but then there's a little bit of lag.

Honestly, that isn't too big of an issue because you're not going to be using screen mirroring

for gaming on your phone from your computer.

What it's meant to do is let you interact with your notifications without actually being

there in front of your phone.

So there you have it, that's Airdroid.

If your phone interacts with your computer often, then I would highly recommend this

app.

That is it for this video, thank you for watching, and I'll see you in the next one!

I'm heading out to the mall now, I really should have done this yesterday but I fell

asleep, so I'm doing it now.

A Day in Ota - Duration: 15:48.

Hey guys! Morning.

So we're in Tokyo today in Ota ward.

Yesterday we were at Haneda airport, filming the airport

Yeah.

and they recommend some spots around the airport that we visit.

Right.

So that's what we're doing today.

Just a long day of exploring.

And this is actually right near where [we stayed at our hotel].

Anamori Inari Shrine.

Inari shrines are my favorite. They're the fox shrines.

Yeah, fox shrines.

I looked up on Wikipedia how many there are

and supposedly it's like 32,000 Inari shrines

across Japan. Which is kinda crazy.

Is that maybe the most popular type of Shinto shrine?

Could be, yeah.

It probably is.

I also looked up that their messengers, the foxes that are their messengers,

are just like pure white little snow foxes.

And how adorable is that! That's the cutest thing ever.

I just really like foxes.

Well all right, I guess here we are.

Foxes! Wait, you can see the fox.

No look! It's mommy and a baby fox this time. :D

That's so cute.

This is actually the first time for me to see the fox statue at a shrine.

The first time seeing a fox statue?

Yeah, it's normally not a fox in my city.

We see them all the time.

Not the fox.

While we've been traveling.

I mean, in my city.

In your city?

Yeah, it's normally dog.

Inari shrines are the ones with all of these gates.

Yep.

Like this.

So the really big shrine in Kyoto, that's also an Inari shrine.

Fushimi Inari, yeah.

Fushimi Inari Taisha.

That's the main one.

That one supposedly has like 10,000 gates? Or something?

But I looked it up online

and there's one Japanese dude

who walked through and actually counted every single gate.

Really? Yeah.

And I think he did collaborations or got numbers from other people

who walked through and counted every single gate

and it ended up being significantly less.

It was like 1/10th of the actual number they're supposed to have.

Oh really?

I remember there were a bunch of them, yeah.

But they're always adding more because these are all donated

by companies and... I don't know, maybe individuals can donate, too?

So if you look on the back of all of these

They have the names of the companies and people who paid for them.

So...

I wonder if we could...

I wonder how much it costs.

[overly dramatic gasping] JUN

We should do a Rachel & Jun gate.

I'm going to look up how much it costs

Uh-huh.

to donate one.

We should donate a gate to Fushimi Inari Taisha.

That would be amazing.

I just want to write on the back in English

RACHEL & JUN

& FRIENDS

What are all those little gates for? Omg. There's so many of them.

Yeah, I've never seen small gates like these.

What is it for?

I have no idea.

[teasing] You're Japanese. You should know.

Mayoke? (魔除け) [a talisman that wards off evil]

How do you explain mayoke?

I don't know.

Maybe-

My parents have hamanoya (破魔の矢), which is an arrow

and you just put it in the house.

And that helps you... prevent getting bad luck.

Maybe could be one of these?

Anyway, if you want to find an Inari shrine like this

there are Inari shrines EVERYWHERE.

But not all of them have lots of gates like this.

This one's really nice.

Yeah, it is.

If you want to come here and get shots with gates where no one else is going to be.

And you don't have to go to Kyoto for it!

So if you're just visiting Tokyo, and you want to come get some cool shots of gates

this would actually be a really good spot for that.

And they got the fox with the baby statue.

All right. Let's get to the next place!

This is a very popular restaurant and they have these amazing eel tendon.

I'm SUPER EXCITED. It's in Ota-shijo, the market.

I've never had eel tendon. REALLY?!

It's delicious!

I've never had... I don't think I've ever had deep fried eel.

Really??

Yeah.

I'm sure you'll lovei t.

What's the name?

Name of what? This restaurant.

This restaurant? Fukuju.

Fukuju. Yep.

Fukujo. Let's go!

That's huge!

That's really big.

Wow.

So this is anago-don. Basically there's rice on the bottom and on top there's a giant deep fried eel.

Anago. Yeah, anago.

Anago's my favorite! [unagi is another popular type of eel]

I know, it's my favorite as well.

So hungry. Itadakimasu!

And that's an eel bone?

Yeah, it's eel bone that they deep fried so you can eat this bone as well.

It may sound weird to you guys, but the best snack in Japan, unagi pie, is made from eel bones.

Actually, that's right!

Yeah, exactly.

Anyway, itadakimasu. And I don't know how to start, but I'll try.

Why don't you eat the eel bone?

Sure!

Eat that eel spine!

Tastes good.

Wow, this is so huge.

Mmmmm

On the outside it's really crunchy and on the inside it's really juicy and fluffy.

It's so good.

Hooow was it?!

2 thumbs up, 10/10

TEN. OUT. OF. TEN.

It was definitely worth it. You should definitely come here and try this.

Yeah, it was really really good.

It tasted... basically like a snack.

Like a Japanese deep fried snack that you could get at a conbini or supermarket.

This is better than what she's explaining so you should try it.

Yeah, it's really good. If you are afraid to try eel

in Japan, it's really really delicious.

But if you're afraid to try it, this is a really good way to try it first.

Uh-huh. Because it's deep fried.

So I mean, deep fried makes everything taste better.

And you can't see that it's eel. It doesn't look like eel.

Yeah, you guys even deep fried a whole sushi right?

Yep.

It's really delicious. If you're around here I would definitely recommend trying it out.

Anyway, this is blah blah repeating selves

Gochisousamadeshita.

Right now we're at Kamata station, which is really close to Haneda airport.

Takes less than 10 minutes I think by train. [24 minutes, but nice try]

At Ota Tourist Information Center.

But it's not just an information center. You can also do a lot of stuff here.

So we're going to try on a kimono and do a tea ceremony.

Let's go!

They also have like... calligraphy...

Yeah, we can do all kinds of stuff here, I guess.

Hello!

Taiken (culture experience) is this way, please.

You don't need this?

I'm fine, thank you.

May I borrow it then?

Here's another one for you.

I'm glad.

How do I use this?

Isn't this weird? You're the one using it?

You're using a seat. I'm the one ...

All right. Why not? I'll just try not to use it.

I'm just making fun of you.

Thanks.

Pleased to meet you.

Now please drink it.

Wipe and purify your fingers with this.

Turn the cup twice.

Place it over the line of tatami.

Now let's look at the cup and enjoy the artisan's work.

When you look at the cup, make sure the cup is close to the floor.

Is this hagi yaki?

Yes.

This was made in the place called hagi in Japan.

Hold it like this.

Turn it twice.

Now thank her for making the tea.

Please make me great tea.

Pour half of the ladle.

Could you give me a mixer?

Very good.

You better enjoy this.

You're doing very good.

You better enjoy my tea. I worked really hard on that.

Thank you for making the tea.

Hold the cup.

Place your left hand underneath it.

Turn the cup.

Finish drinking it within a few sips.

Return the cup to where it was.

How was it?

It was fun.

Thank you very much.

I had fun, too.

Me, too.

I'm glad.

She was very excited.

So now we're going to be wearing kimono!

This one's the easy one, right?

Yeah. Just put it on.

Very easy.

I like that design. Yeah, isn't it pretty?

It is pretty.

Wow, that was quick.

This is the fastest I've ever worn a kimono.

Yeah, that was quick.

That was like a 5 minute kimono.

[they're so cute! lol]

Do you want to pose with umbrella?

Oh, okay!

They have everything for you!

All right. It's your turn, Jun.

Sure!

Jun, you look like a jedi.

Where's my lightsaber?

Obi-wan Jun?

I feel like they stole our idea.

No, that's like a whole thing.

Just kidding.

No, it's like a whole thing that Star Wars was taken from samurai.

Omg, he's just a jedi.

You're so jedi! It's even more jedi now!

Why are you so tall?

It's from my dad.

Thank you, dad.

These jeans...

Even he's making fun of me now.

Even the guy in charge is making fun of Jun.

How'd you like it?

I look really good in mine. You just look like a jedi.

So if you're a male and you wanna be a jedi, come here.

You can be a jedi.

And bring your own lightsaber if you want.

If you want to do the kimono wearing like this, then you have to make a reservation in advance.

So if you think you're going to be passing through Haneda airport and you want to leave

and come here, it's like 10 minutes [25, actually] from the airport.

Then, make a reservation when you're going to be here.

It's pretty easy too, and they speak Japanese as well.

Yeah, they have a translator, and they're very nice.

And they have a board of picture of other people wearing kimono

from around the world, so you can get your picture on the board.

So ours is gonna be on there too, I guess? Yep.

[Nope--we didn't have time lol]

Pretty, pretty.

Thank you!

Thank you.

So we're done filming kimono here and we're heading to Daini Hinodeyu

which is an onsen. Onseeeen!

Let's go.

So we made it to the onsen!

It's a black onsen. [the onsen has "black" water]

It's a black onsen, as you can see.

We did not know it was a black onsen.

Have you been there? I've never seen a black onsen in real life before.

Actually, me neither.

Jun didn't know it existed, even.

I should be ashamed.

Good job being Japanese, Jun.

But it's common in Tokyo.

We're going to go explore it together for the first time.

Let's go inside.

So apparently they rotate days for the outside onsen.

And today is MEN'S day.

So only Jun can enter the onsen.

TOO BAD.

So I won't be going in the onsen.

Sorry for everyone who wants to see naked Rachel

but it's gonna be ME. Sorry.

So this is the onsen entrance.

And we worked it out with the owner so that I can come and film Jun

by entering through

this small-ass side door over here.

And walking through the garden

to come out the side and like... sneak shot film Jun outdoors.

In the onsen.

He didn't bring any swimwear or anything, so.

Because you don't wear swimsuit in onsen. They told us to bring swimsuits

and I brought my swimsuit, and I was like "Jun, you should bring your swimsuit!"

And he was like "Nah."

I'm Japanese. I don't wear swimsuit when I go to onsen.

All right, go please enjoy your onsen. I'll see you inside.

Hi Jun!

Hi.

How is your onsen?

It's really nice.

Jun, we finally got our onsen shot!

Yaaay.

We finally have a video with an onsen!

I'm sorry everyone who wanted to see beautiful my wife

but instead you got me.

AH HA HA HA

Come on Jun, you have to look sexier.

This is our one shot. This is our onsen video.

Why don't you like come sit here?

Here? Yeah.

Okay.

Okay Jun. Look seductively over your shoulder.

[NOT SEDUCTIVE] Hi. :D

It's really dark. Yeah, it is.

It's really cool.

Wait okay, so why is it dark?

Umm...

I don't know the term in English but

apparently the substance that's in water?

makes this water black. [....NO DUH]

Oil? Like the fossils? How like...

I don't know if it's the animals, but the plants and... all kinds of... stuff.

Dead living matter. [It's humic acid, produced from the biodegradation of

of dead organic matter, like in peat, coal, and soil.]

You are bathing in the remnants of the dead.

Yeah. Okay.

All right, well enjoy the rest of your onsen.

I'm gonna leave so all the other men can come back and join you.

Have fun. All right. See ya.

Hi. How was your onsen?

That was great. I actually got onsen powder from the owner.

Oh, you're gonna make an onsen at home?

Yeah, this is for you!

Oh, okay! Cool.

I can try it. How's your skin feel?

Uh, it feels actually really nice and smooth. OOOH! You feel so soft and smooooth.

I think my skin's better than yours now.

It's always been better. My skin's TERRIBLE.

So we're on our way home now and we're walking along a street that's kinda famous here.

It's called Bourbon Road.

Yeah. Bourbon Road.

And they have a lot of restaurants here.

Apparently 30 years ago it was a restaurant AND shopping street

But, I don't know. They were not getting along well.

It's like the West Side Story. Two factions fought and divided.

And one of them had to move a couple streets over. Yeah, so now they're divided now.

And so now this is just all restaurants. Yep.

But it's late, and if we want to catch the shinkansen home before the last shinkansen

we have to go, so we're not eating.

And I can't even drink. If I drink I won't be able to drive a car. It's illegal.

Well it'll still be like 3 hours before you would have to drive anything.

Maybe 4.

I think you'd be okay by then.

You know that I can't really drink.

Well anyway, thank you guys for watching!

This is Ota Ward. Bye! [awkward conclusion OUT]

Google Local Search Optimization | How To Get On The First Page Of Google | Special Offer - Duration: 4:20.

Hi, it's Tim Cooper coming to you from my clinic in Burleigh Heads and I just wanted

to shoot this really quick video between clients to ask you a really important question.

And that question is, would you take a bag full of money, a couple of thousand dollars

and just plonk it on the table of your competitors clinic?

I mean would that make sense to you?

Would that make sense to you just walking into their clinic and giving them a couple

of thousand dollars and saying, "Here, I'm giving this to you for nothing".

I don't think it would make much sense.

I definitely wouldn't do it.

But I've got another question for you then.

If you're not going to go in and throw a couple of thousand dollars onto your competitors

table, are you being seen in Google search?

What would happen if I got onto Google right at this moment and typed in your service and

your area.

So say you were a sports therapist in San Diego, or say you were an acupuncturist in

Sydney, or say that you ran a spa on the Gold Coast.

What would happen if I typed in sports massage San Diego?

Would you be on the front page of that list if that is exactly what you did - Sport Massage,

would you come up on the front page of Google?

Because if you don't you may as well take that couple of thousand dollars worth of cash

that you're not making anyway because you're not finding any clients, and go give it to

your competitors.

Because by not appearing high in the listings of Google local search, you are making it

so easy for your competitors.

Because you're not in the race.

If people can't find you on Google when they're searching for a solution to their problem,

then how are they going to ring up and make a booking?

It makes no sense does it?

But there is good news.

Just for $17, I'm running a very special offer on a short course of mine, so just for $17

you can get this short course, it only goes for 30 minutes, so this is not rocket science.

I'm going to show you the easy steps that anybody can follow to set up their Google

business listing, and if you've already got a Google business listing and it's not doing

anything for you, I'm going to show how to optimise it.

Because there's more to this than simply opening up and setting up a Google business listing,

which is free by the way.

So I'm going to show you how to set up your business listing, I'm going to show you how

to optimise it so that you're listed in the three of the Google local search results for

your area.

Just imagine what that is going to be like, getting that visibility.

No longer are you going to be invisible on the internet.

And when people have got a problem and they know that they've got see a massage therapist

or an acupuncturist, or a naturopath in their area, and they type in - Remedial Massage

Burleigh Heads, or Sports Massage San Diego, that your name actually appears up high on

the list.

That is worth thousands of dollars to you every year.

So, that's your choice.

You either do the theoretical go and hand thousands of dollars to your competitors,

because that's what you're doing.

If you can't be seen and your competitors are up there and somebody types in that search

and you''re not there, they're going to call your opposition.

Right?

It's not rocket science, it's perfect sense.

If you want to be up there, if you want to compete, if you want to get your fair share

of people who search on Google everyday for services, then you've got to get listed.

And you've got to be seen.

And there is more to it than simply creating a Google listing, you've got to optimise it.

And that's what I show you in this 30 minute video.

So if you want to get seen, if you want to start to attract new clients on autopilot,

if you want to add thousands of dollars to your bottom line every year - for $17, for

just $17 you can get the link either above or below this video, but the offer ends in

around about 24 hours.

It ends on Friday at midnight Pacific.

Okay?

You've got until Friday midnight Pacific to get this course for $17.

A course that can make you thousands of dollars - $17.

Okay.

Don't delay.

Above or below, you've only got around 24 hours left.

Go grab it and I'll see you soon.

Hey Guys!

I love technology, and I love to be merciful with animals.

This is my favorite singer, and that one is my favorite picture.

So, our idea is bullying and cyberbullying.

We don't like it.

Bullying at school affects teachings and relationships in school.

Read & Write for Google Chrome--The Tech Exchange: Ideas for Staff by Staff--Episode 5 - Duration: 5:13.

(upbeat energetic music)

(music fades)

Hi! I'm in the Cedar Falls office today

and i'm going to be working with Jody Seeman

on this episode of the Tech Exchange.

Hi Jody.

Hi Cari.

How are you?

I'm good.

That's good...

Hey I hear you've been using a Chrome extension

called Read & Write for Google.

Yes!

Can you tell me more about it?

Sure! Have a seat.

It helps students gain confidence in reading and writing

with tools like word prediction

uh, voice to text

voice notes and many other features

within a Google doc or a webpage

Um, i've really liked it for working with our students with learning disabilities

It could be useful for English Language Learners

and just any student who needs reading and writing supports.

So, it could really be of assistance to any and all students....

Just like this morning when I had my hands full

I wasn't able to open the door

so instead of setting everything down

I could just easily open the door with the push of a button.

That's exactly right.

Let me show you how Google Read & Write extension works with Google Chrome.

Ok, so we're gonna start out in the Chrome browser, correct?

Yes, to use any of these tools you have to use Chrome.

and if you haven't found the extension

you can locate it in the Chrome Web Store.

Alright.

add that to your Chrome browser.

and you can use this on a webpage

but you can also use it within a Google Doc.

Yes.

Which is what i'm going to show today, some of the tools that i'm more familiar with

we typically use, um,

when a student is working in Google Docs.

Ok, so this is the premium version, correct?

MmmHmm

and, um, teachers can have that version free.

however, if a student needs all the features

they would have to have a district purchase it for them, correct?

Yes.

Alright, let me show you using a Google Doc.

This is how you open and close Read & Write

the little puzzle piece here will pop up

and then you have a menu bar

showing you all the different tools

We're gonna highlight some of those

The first one here is word prediction

So, a student would...

hit that, and then begin to type

Oh, so I see that it's trying to figure out what you're typing.

[COMPUTER] don't

Oh, and it also tells you the name of the word.

[COMPUTER] like

They actually can, a student who has a lot of problems with spelling

um reading...

[COMPUTER] likes

can go down and make sure that that is the right word they wanted to pick.

Wow, that's a great feature.

That's word prediction.

And you just clicked on it to turn it off?

To turn it off you click back on it.

Uh, dictionary feature.

Sure.

or a piction....

picture dictionary for those students who really need

the visual also.

This is the um, read

which, play, which will read the document to a student

It, uh, again

you put your cursor where you want to start it

start reading and push play.

[COMPUTER] I really...

Ok.

Pause.

Stop.

This is your screenshot reader

This actually is a really useful tool

for students to read text on

websites...to read locked PDFs

Some of the other tools that I'm more familiar with

The highlighting tool

You can use that to highlight within a document

Then you can also take those highlights

and collect them and they will go on a separate word document.

really nice for students who are now beginning some note-taking

maybe using it for research.

Voice notes.

You put your cursor there and you speak into the computer

and it will collect your notes for you.

Ok.

So are you gonna show me another tool here?

Just for those students who maybe would prefer to

use voice to text instead of typing

the tool we're gonna look at is speech input.

As you can see, you talk and it types.

Wow.

Period

Sometimes it picks up everything

so a student does have to be very clear and very concise

with what they want the computer to type.

Period.

That's an awesome tool.

That's awesome, yes!

(laughter)

Wow, that's a lot of great things to have.

Yes!

and free!

(laughter)

Yes! Thank you!
