Youtube daily google Jul 28 2018

hey what's up guys and welcome back to more on tech in this video I'm going to

show you how to backup and sync files from a computer directly onto the Google

Drive automatically so for this you will need a small tool called backup and sync

I have been using this tool for almost one year and I've found it really

helpful so I thought to share it with you guys

so open up your browser and search for backup and sync you should

see this first link from google just go to that link and you will see the download

option it's a very small tool basically less than 2 megabytes

I have already downloaded the tool on my computer so I wont be downloading it again

once you have installed the tool install and run it and you should see

this Google sign in screen so sign in with your Google account

once you have successfully signed in with your google account you need to choose a folder on

your computer that you would want to be backed up automatically to the Google Drive you

can see here I have desktop documents and pictures I don't want in all of

those to be backed up automatically so I'm just unchecking these things I want

my custom folders stored on the desktop you can see syncit folder here I want this

folder to be automatically backed up so I'll choose this folder here once I

select this folder you can see here I have it will validate the folder and

and once its validated and down here we have an option for photos and videos and

whether we want to upload with the compresed size or with the

original quality we can also choose to store our photos on google photos by ticking

this option I'll just pick next and then we need to choose the folders

on a Google Drive that we want to sync with the local Drive

make sure to check this icon and by default it will be

checked I don't know what is become a Google Drive to be synced automatically

so I'll just uncheck that current you can see that I don't have anything on my

Google Drive so it's showing no folders in my drive and I'll just check the

second option here so I'll just hit start and it'll say that you are merging with

Google Drive content so just click continue you'll see that google drive

folder is created on my desktop you can see down here below it is preparing to

sync these are some of my contents of my Google Drive folder that have been

recently synced from Google Drive and it says updated just now and you can also

see that it is syncing one of two it is actually uploading my contents of

sync-it folder to the Google Drive you can see these are the contents the same

contents that are being uploaded to my Google Drive

I'll show you these folders in my Google Drive actually you can see this this is my

drive this is the same folder as mydrive on my desktop let's put these two

windows side by sides so you will get a clear idea what I am talking about

so these two folders are the same actually one on the cloud and

one on my computer,so any changes I make to these any of the folder those

will be reflectd to another folder

and the sync-it folder on my desktop is same as in computers

my-laptop and syncit folder

lets say I want to copy files from my computer

lets copy these two files to sync-it folder

we should be able to see them

and we should see, we should be able to see them in the drive as w ell

you can see here down below it says uploading

the files are now uploaded

they say I remove these two fights

and I go

those fights repeated and do

I said I just

and down here I'll jus lets just move these two files to

my drive folder on my desktop Ishould be able to

see the same files in my drive on the cloud lets just go to my drive I will just

expand

see here in th sync-it folder okay there we go you can see that files have been

moved from my folder you can see these two files have been moved here

that's all from this video guys I hope this video helped you out and if it did

then please share this video with someone you think will help them because

this will inspire me to make more such videos in the future so thanks for

watching and see you in the next one

6 Hidden Features + Tips | Sony WH-1000XM2 & MDR-1000X | Google Assistant update how-to | DHRME #50 - Duration: 3:44.

we've made in-depth videos of the sony wh 1000x m2 and the MDR 1000x before but

this video is different here are 6 hidden features you didn't know existed

number one so we know that the WH has great noise canceling but did you know

that in the intensity slider you have the option to cancel out wind noise only

very useful if you're living in a cycle friendly country like the Netherlands

number two this feature is a little easier to find on the newer headphones

but did you know that the MDR 1000X can do this as well? I'm referring of

course to the noise canceling optimizer simply long-press the noise canceling

button when not in Google assistant mode and it will tune your noise canceling to

adjust for any differences in hair, glasses or even broken bones. if you've

bought the WH 1000XM2 before July 2018 and you haven't updated it? go do it

right away. Sony plays catch-up with its main rival

in this space the Bose QC35ii and now supports google assistant. after you've

downloaded the update, install it and then go to the headphones app and remap

the noise canceling or ambient button to Google assistant, that's it!

now if you're like me you're probably asking what's with the update? I can just

pull up Google Assistant on my phone. but this is different, it's much more than just

issuing commands. you can press and hold to issue a voice command, you can press

once to read out a notification, and you can press twice to cancel the voice

command. and now you can have Google read out all your messages. 'Kevin says "nothing,

just chilling. massaging my beard"' and even respond to some of them using your

voice, which is very convenient. it's very easy to use and it's another place where

Google can spy.. I mean enrich our lives and make them better.

number four you can make the headphones stand without a stand. hey, we didn't say

all the features would be useful okay. please don't unsubscribe ;) number five

even though you can check the battery level in the app, you may not always have

that luxury. here's a quicker way to check how much remaining battery you

have; press the power button once and you'll have a voice guidance telling you

how much battery you have left. but you can also use those annoying LEDs we

talked about when you're not wearing the headset. three blinks means there's high

amount of battery left, two for medium and one means low. and finally number six,

do you also find that the phone call quality sucks on the WH 1000XM2? - I

think Sony knows that - and that's why they've provided a feature so that you

can move your phone call from your headphones to your phone. so here are the

steps on how to do that, number one receive the call on your headset.

number two struggle for a few seconds as no one hears what you're saying. step 3

hold your finger to the touch sensitive area so that the call device is switched

from the headphones to your smart phone. step number four the most

important step, pretend that you were in a noisy area and that the poor quality

had nothing to do with your expensive headphones.

you've been awesome and we've been DHRME

Percent Authoring Overview - Duration: 4:13.

NIVESH: Hi

My name is Nivesh

and I'm a developer on Google Web Designer.

In this video I will show you how to create fluid layouts by using percent-based

units for position and size.

First let's take a look at a sample document where

all the elements currently use pixels for their position and size.

Now if I preview this file in the browser

and I resize the browser window

you'll notice the layout does not update.

The elements position and size stay fixed.

Let's change that by using percent-based layout.

If you want the main page container

to grow and shrink to match the screen size you can do so by

clicking on the Match viewport button in the Properties panel.

This will set the pages width and height to 100%.

And now the page will grow and shrink

to match the screen size.

You can also change the left top width and height

of individual elements.

I'm going to click the yellow div here

and I'm going to change its left top width and height

by clicking on the unit's section of the controls

and switching to use %.

You can also select multiple elements

and change all their position and sizes to use %

Now select these three elements down below

and switch their left top width and height to use %.

And now you can see their individual

left top width and height are also using %.

Sometimes you may want

an element's width and height to remain fixed

but have its position update as

the screen size changes.

So I'm going to change this logo element's

left and top to use %

but I'm going to leave its width and height to use pixels.

Now let's preview this in the browser.

You notice as I resized the browser

the elements were flowing with the viewport.

An easy way to create such fluid layouts

is to use the fluid layout option

in the selection tools options bar.

When I switch to another

file that does not have percent-based layout

set for these bottom three elements.

So when I go here these are still using pixels.

Now I'll show you the difference on

when the fluid layout option is checked and unchecked

in this case I will uncheck it.

I'm going to select the three elements

and align them vertically center with their parent container

and space evenly apart horizontally

with their parent container.

Now I'm going to preview.

As you'll notice

the elements don't adjust

as I resize the browser window

they remain where I last aligned them

And that's because

without the fluid layout option checked

the alignment is done as

a one-time position and size adjustment

but if I click the fluid layout option

and I reapplied the align settings again

align vertical center and space horizontally

and now I preview in browser.

By checking the fluid layout option

we created a percent-based alignment

that keeps the elements relatively aligned

to each other and to the enclosing container

as the container changes size.

That's all I have for this video.

Thank you for watching!

Inside Google's shadow workforce of contract laborers - Duration: 27:49.

Every day, tens of thousands of people stream into Google offices wearing red or green name badges

They eat in Google's cafeterias, ride its commuter shuttles and work alongside its celebrated geeks

But they can't access all of the company's celebrated perks. They aren't entitled to stock and can't enter certain offices

Many don't have health insurance.  Before each weekly Google all-hands meeting, trays of hors d'oeuvres and sometimes kegs of beer are carted into an auditorium and satellite offices around the globe for employees, who wear white badges

Those without white badges are asked to return to their desks. Advertisement  Google parent Alphabet Inc

employs hordes of these red- and green-badged contract workers in addition to its full-fledged staff

These workers serve meals and clean offices. They write code, handle sales calls, recruit staff, screen YouTube videos, test self-driving cars and even manage entire teams — a sea of skilled laborers who fuel the $795-billion company but reap few of the benefits and opportunities available to direct employees

Earlier this year, those contractors outnumbered direct employees for the first time in the company's 20-year history, according to a person who viewed the numbers on an internal company database

It's unclear whether that is still the case. Alphabet reported 89,058 direct employees at the end of the second quarter

The company declined to comment on the number of contract workers.  Other companies, such as Apple Inc

and Facebook Inc. — some of the most cash-rich public companies — also rely on a steady influx of contractors

Investors watch employee headcount closely at these tech powerhouses, expecting that they keep posting impressive gains by maintaining skinnier workforces than older corporate titans

Hiring contractors keeps the official headcount low and frees up millions of dollars to retain superstars in fields such as artificial intelligence

The result is an invisible workforce. "Many of these workers don't have a voice on the job

They don't necessarily get the benefits that many of us think about when working at a big, glitzy tech company," said Maria Noel Fernandez, campaign director for Silicon Valley Rising, a union-backed group based in San Jose that advocates on labor and housing issues

"And they're not really part of this wealth."  Contractors are on the rise at Google as the company spreads into new markets, such as devices and corporate services, which demand a larger sales force

Conversations with more than 10 former contractors for Google and other Alphabet units paint a portrait of a permanent underclass

Google has a name for them: TVCs, or "temps, vendors and contractors." They are employed by several outside agencies, including Adecco Group, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp

and Randstad. Google declined to say how many agencies it uses. Many current and former contract workers and full employees declined to speak on the record because they didn't want to jeopardize their employment

Some direct employees took unusual steps this year to go to senior leadership with objections about the company's work with the military, its gender pay gap and its nagging issues with online harassment

Another issue Google employees are discussing bringing to management is the state of the contract workforce, according to four people familiar with the conversations

Yana Calou, an organizer with advocacy group Coworker.org who speaks with Google employees and contractors, said that both groups are concerned about the workers who aren't full Google employees

"They feel isolated, precarious and like second-class citizens," Calou said. "It's a microcosm of what's happening in the economy as a whole

"  In an emailed statement, a Google spokeswoman said the company hires TVCs for two primary purposes

One is when it doesn't have a particular expertise in-house, such as shuttle bus drivers, quality assurance testers and doctors

Another is for filling temporary positions to cover for people on parental leave or handle spikes in work

Some contract workers viewed Google as a generous workplace that boosted their careers

Still, despite their ubiquity there, many felt peripheral. Several noted the subtle slights apparent from their arrival

The first thing people eye at work, one former TVC recalled, is the color of someone's badge

TVCs aren't trusted with tasks outside their limited purview. Four contractors described the sinking feeling of clocking in at 9 a

m. only to see full-timers trickle in an hour or two later. They said the same full-timers would leave the office around 3 p

m., often after a midday gym break.  "People look down on you even though you're doing the same work," said one contractor who spent two years at Google managing multiple other employees

Said another ex-TVC: "You're there, but you're not there." Number of temps has grown  Google's initial flood of contractors came with its first "moonshot

" Dozens of temporary workers were hired more than a decade ago to photocopy dog-eared pages for the company's free digital library, Google Books

Like the company itself, the number of temporary workers has grown wildly.  Like other firms, Google relies on outsourcing operations in Southeast Asia — rows of office workers in India and other countries who label mapping data and handle other relatively simple computing work

But Google also hires highly educated contractors in its backyard. Some TVCs arrive with advanced technical degrees and years of experience, working on niche efforts such as renewable energy and sensor design

The line between TVCs and full-timers is clear. One 2016 employment contract from Zenith Talent Corp

, a recruiting agency, states that TVCs "will not be entitled to any compensation, options, stock, insurance or other rights or benefits accorded to employees of Google

" The terms hold even if a court later determines the worker was legally a Google employee

Zenith did not respond to requests for comment.  Another clause hints at the type of work Google contracts out

The TVC agreement includes a release for any "adult content" contractors may encounter at work

In signing, contractors relieve Google of any liability related to the material. In 2017, the company pledged to hire up to 10,000 content moderators in 2018 after mounting criticism of offensive videos on YouTube

Some of these moderators are full-fledged staff, but Google declined to say how many or provide an update

Several former contractors noted that Google does offer benefits for contractors that other large companies don't

TVCs can eat at cafeterias for free and use some company facilities, like its bowling alleys and gyms

For many, a TVC position offers a foothold for a permanent role at Google or elsewhere

Some highlights, however, come with an asterisk. To ride Google shuttles, which ferry staffers to campus for free, TVCs must pay

In an emailed statement, a Google spokeswoman said that the company charges TVCs less than $2 per ride and that if it provided TVCs with free shuttle service, that would be considered a taxable benefit

Several former TVCs said they did not receive pay for sick days. Advertisement  The largest burden for many contractors is healthcare

All the contractors Bloomberg News spoke with said the contracting agencies, which are responsible for health insurance, offered either inadequate plans or none

One former TVC, who worked for Adecco, said he paid roughly $600 out of pocket per month for coverage to treat diabetes

"Adecco's only around for [human resources] and crappy benefits," this person said

Advertisement  Google referred inquiries about benefits for contractor employees to the companies that directly employ them, but said its company culture requires that everyone is treated with care and respect

Adecco spokeswoman Mary Beth Waddill said that the contractor does not disclose the terms of its contracts with clients but that "we take great pride in being an industry leader who continually works to create meaningful career opportunities for all of our employees

"  Some TVCs are paid well. Contract software designers and other specialists were offered as much as $150 an hour before taxes, above rival giants, according to two people familiar with the plans

Vendors doing less technical work made less; one 2017 hiring contract in Europe listed an annual salary of about $33,000

Google's subcontracted janitors, who today number around 400, have been unionized since the year 2000

According to the Service Employees International Union, which represents them, they earn around $26

39 in total hourly compensation, including the cost of benefits as well as their income

In Google's home county of Santa Clara, a family of four with an income of as much as $94,450 a year is considered by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development to be "low income"; total annual compensation for a full-time Google janitor — including benefits — is a bit over half that amount

Google distances itself from responsibility if contractors encounter problems

In both hiring contracts Bloomberg News viewed, the hiring agency is responsible for handling pay, benefits and any grievances that contracted employees may have

However, Google asserts authority on key legal matters. Contractors must agree to assist Google in securing the company's intellectual property, and if Google can't get the worker's signature, the search giant becomes the worker's de facto attorney

Contractors waive their rights to participate in class-action lawsuits against Google

One person recently worked at Indian outsourcer HCL Technologies Ltd. fielding customer calls for Google's ads business

In multiple emails and complaints to HCL, the person described repeated verbal harassment from colleagues — including anti-Muslim and anti-Arab taunts

When no action was taken, the person sent emails to a Google manager and Chief Executive Sundar Pichai

The vendor received no response. HCL investigated the claims and found no cause for action, according to documents reviewed by Bloomberg News

The person asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal from his current job. Google did not provide comment on that episode, but a spokeswoman said that TVCs have access to Google's complaint channel, and that it reviews those it receives and investigates when appropriate

HCL did not respond to requests for comment.  "We have allowed businesses to really sever their responsibility for more and more for the people who create value," said David Weil, dean of the Heller School at Brandeis University and a former Labor Department official under President Obama

"We've allowed them to have their cake and eat it too." Contractors are easier to hire — and fire  Over the years, Google's influx of contractors has changed with investment priorities

Google Fiber, its broadband unit, was once a major contractor hub, but it has scaled back operations

Other parts of the company that lean on contract work are ramping up. Google's device sales and cloud-computing units both use call-center support staff to handle customer issues

Artificial intelligence projects may do so as well. Duplex, Google's eerily human-sounding calling service, which debuts this summer, will turn to phone operators when the AI can't carry on the conversation

Some of those operators will be contracted out, executives said recently.  Under Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat, Alphabet has tightened its once-freewheeling spending

Yet the company hasn't stopped its appetite for expensive engineers, who can easily fetch $1 million a year or more

That decision necessitates more contractors. Every company division must petition for a budget and staff headcount

Talented engineers are pricey and take bites out of the budget. To compensate, managers then will fill out staff with TVCs, according to José Benitez Cong, a former Google hiring manager who runs the human resources firm Plause

"Companies are scaling faster than ever," he said. "A company like Google may want to rely on contractors to maintain such growth

"  Contractors can offer a potential regulatory break too. Seattle recently weighed a tax based on the staff headcount companies have, a way to reap more from local giant Amazon

Officials in Google's hometown have voiced support. A spokeswoman for Google declined to comment

Google's lengthy hiring process is also a factor, Benitez Cong said. Google employees can take several months to recruit, whereas the company can tap TVCs within weeks or days

They also can be dismissed just as quickly. One contract worker, who spent two years at Google, said TVCs devoted much of their day to "tagging" their work — a way to document what the worker had done for managers so it could be passed seamlessly to others, or replaced with automation

"I felt the clock ticking," the person said. "That's a stressful experience."  Another recalled being sent from San Francisco to New York City, along with direct employees, for a marketing project

Before the assignment wrapped, the contractor got an unexpected email from his hiring agency asking him to turn in his laptop the next day

His stint at Google was up. "People would just disappear," the ex-contractor said

That day he returned to his hotel, which Google covered, without an exit interview

He remembered the email: "Thanks for the good work." Last year, a trio of Adecco employees who worked for Google's food-delivery service filed two lawsuits in a Los Angeles County court against both companies

The contractors allege Adecco withheld wages and did not provide meals and rest periods required under California law

Through their lawyer, Paul Tashnizi, the employees declined to be interviewed. Some of the claims have been forced into arbitration, and others are on hold in the meantime

Advertisement  Adecco is a favorite contractor for the tech giant. The Swiss temp agency, which posted about $27 billion in revenue in 2017, secures staff for Google's maps, cloud and apps units, as well as for Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous car unit

For multiple former Adecco hires, however, the company was virtually absent. Several people recalled seeing its staff when they joined Google and again when they left

According to two former Google managers, Adecco takes roughly 20% of the pay of Google's contracted employees

Adecco did not answer questions about those claims, but spokeswoman Waddill said that "we continuously listen to our employees' needs and work to provide them an outstanding experience," including when it comes to the company's "unique benefits packages

"  In recent years, Google has brought some contract positions in-house. Following criticism, in 2014 it announced that some security guards would become direct staffers

Most contractors do not work longer than two-year stints, according to multiple contract workers, but some serve multiple terms in the hope of becoming direct employees

Google did not provide data on how many achieve that.  For many white-collar TVCs, the second-class status at the first-rate tech behemoth pays off

TVCs are asked to list their status as contractors on LinkedIn accounts — but they can still mention Google

Chris Szymczak, a former TVC who worked on marketing for Google from Poland, said multiple full-time coworkers served as references for future work

"They were just immensely supportive even past our work relationship," he said. "The gig was a real springboard for me

"  That ladder is not available for everyone. One former TVC recalls an uncomfortable lesson: A new executive came to the division, sat down with each staffer and asked about his or her "five-year plan," a standard managerial tactic

The next day, the manager returned sheepishly, explaining that he didn't realize his report was a contractor rather than full-time staff

He asked the person to forget their conversation entirely.  Bergen and Eidelson write for Bloomberg

Website preys on the thousands of women who Google 'Am I ugly?' - Duration: 9:09.

Sadly, around 10,000 women take to Google each month to ask "Am I ugly?"  And the top link on the search engine when you ask the question is a site which brutally rates your looks and points out imperfections on your face

Pretty Scale launched in 2011 and works by analyzing photos to provide a score from one to 100 — ugly to beautiful

Not only does it give you a cruel label, but it also breaks down your face to reveal exactly how you are falling short of being beautiful, from your nose size to your facial symmetry

The site was created by a programmer in Pakistan and initially started as a simple site to "prank co-workers

"  It quickly boomed in popularity and now gets 20,000 to 40,000 hits a month, but a body image charity has slammed it as being "dangerous

"  The Sun spoke to the creator of the "face beauty analysis test" site, who goes by the name Aqueel, about why he felt the need for the site

Aqueel said: "There are people who believe in astrology and palmistry and other things

People always want to know about themselves from others. Why not try my website as well? That was the idea

"  "It started as a prank website but some of my co-workers took is seriously so I made it look more serious and even added things as golden ratio and other stuff

"  Aqueel revealed that the "prettiness" ranking is based on many factors.  The creator added: "Then it compares proportions of face features like is nose too big for lips etc

"  "It also checks for symmetry of face features. How does it decide what proportions are good or bad?"  "That data is based on average proportions of people considered beautiful in the media

The data is different for males and females but not for different ethnicities."  "The algorithm to measure beauty has been changed so many times to fit all ethnicities but I cannot claim it fits for all ethnic backgrounds

"  "The app ignores all those colors and things and focus on facial features and proportions only

" First step is uploading a photo into the application. Pretty Scale Second, adjust the image to match the facial wireframe

Pretty Scale Third, adjust where the corners of the eyes can be found in the image

Pretty Scale Fourth, frame the face in the photo. Pretty Scale Fifth, frame the nose

"  "How can they complain about it when they resort to plastic surgery for such things?"  Although the Pretty Scale creator called it a "stupid website," the YMCA's "Be Real Campaign" believes that sites like Pretty Scale are extremely dangerous

Liam Preston, the head of the campaign, said to the Sun Online:  "Today's beauty pressure is completely unrealistic and puts way too much pressure on people to look a certain way

"  "Seeing 'perfect' bodies and faces on TV, in magazines and online all the time means many people are feeling unhappy with their looks because they feel they can't keep up

"  "The last thing we need is a website to compare our looks, telling us that we are not pretty enough

This is really dangerous for young people as more than half are already bullied about the way they look

"  "We should all care a little less about what we look like and more about our health and overall happiness

"  The Pretty Scale creator said that despite maintaining the webpage, they are aware of the dangers themselves

They admitted: "Yes, I'm always worried. Especially about young people who take things like that seriously

Based on feedback I have put warnings and information that this is not a serious face analysis

It is done by a dumb computer program who cannot even see you so don't take it seriously

"  "Moreover, you have to be very very out of proportion to be called ugly."  "Since the site cannot actually see your facial features, it asks you to put lines for example at the corners of your lips etc

It's most probably your fault if you don't inform it about your facial features right

""  According to the creator, the only way to achieve 100 percent beauty on the site is to be mathematically perfect, according to the software's standards

However, they did say: "There is no reliable standard. If you are worried about your looks, ask about it from those who matter in your life, not some stupid internet website

Searching Google Scholar Part 1 - Duration: 3:54.

In this tutorial I will help you set up library links with a Gmail or Google

account. Library links will help you find books and articles available through

ETSU without going into the library databases or catalog. You must be signed

in to a Google account. You will need to create an account if you do not already

have one. Once you are at scholar.google.com at the top right you

will see your name if you are signed in. Click on the three little bars on the

left of your screen, then click settings. On the left side click on "library links".

In the library links box type in ETSU. Check the boxes next to ETSU. Do not

click WorldCat if you do not plan on using books for a research. I will keep

it to show you how you can request a book through ILL. Then click Save. The

best way to search Google Scholar is to use the advanced scholar search, so go

back to the menu on the left and click on "advanced search". The topic of my

research paper is the American middle-class and college debt. Type

"American middle class" in the top box. This will allow Google Scholar to search

for all of the words. We want to search the exact phrase

"college debt" so type that into the second box. Sometimes you may have to put

quotation marks around a search term if it is more than one word. In this

instance there is no need. Usually you do not want to use research older than five

to ten years. For this topic we will go back five years or so. Leave the other

options as they are, then click the search button. The results page will list

articles and books that are relevant to my topic. Some articles are freely

available such as "Financial decisions among undergraduate students from low

income and working class social class backgrounds". To view the freely available

articles, you usually will need to click on the link to the right of the article

information. Sometimes just clicking on the title will take you to the full text

as well. You can get citation info by clicking the quotation marks. Make sure

to double check the citations, as they are not always correct. The article

"Disparities in debt: parents' socio-economic resources and young adult

student loan debt" should be a good article to use. To see if an article is

available through ETSU, click on the get it @ ETSU link. You will be directed to

the library's article page. Always make sure to sign in at the yellow bar. Sign

in using your ETSU username and password. If an article is available there will be

a list of either databases or publisher sites where you can retrieve it.

Sometimes there may be multiple locations listed; you may have to go

through all of them. My article should be available through the JSTOR Arts and

Sciences database. Click on the database link. You can see the article PDF is

located to the right. Click on "download pdf."

JSTOR asks for more credentials than many of the databases, so go ahead and

click on "I accept, proceed to PDF", then the PDF will open in your browser. Make

sure to download it within the PDF window. Make sure to check if the

citation has a document object identifier, or a DOI, which is kind of

like a social security number for articles. Many articles published within

the last 10 years or so do have a DOI. You can always find it on the first page

of an article. If a DOI is available it must be included in your citation. Check

out part 2 of this tutorial to learn how to find books through Sherrod Library and

to request books and articles through interlibrary loan.

Searching Google Scholar Part 2 - Duration: 2:26.

In part two of this tutorial we're going to be looking at how to find books

through Sherrod Library, and also how to request books and articles through

interlibrary loan. Now let's go back to our search results. The article

"Institutional determinants of American undergraduate student debt" looks great

too. Since there isn't a "get it at ETSU" link click on the double arrow icon to see if

the get it at ETSU button is available. Notice that a link to the full-text is

missing so we would have to request this through ILL. To request an article

through ILL make sure you are signed in to your library. If you see a yellow bar

sign in there. Notice that the average delivery time for articles is three to

five days. Click on ETSU Sherrod ILL. You will be directed to the library's

interlibrary loan system. If this is your first time logging in you will have to

register. Log in using your ETSU username and password. The article information

should be populated for you. Click "Submit request".

You will receive an email when

your article is available. Make sure to save it as soon as that it is available

to you; it will disappear after 30 days.

If a book is listed and it says "get it @ ETSU", we should have the book in the

library or you can request it through interlibrary loan. The book "Paying the

price: College cost financial aid and the betrayal of the American Dream" looks

great. Under the item description click on the

double arrows and the "get it @ ETSU link" will pop up

Google Scholar will search the ETSU catalog for the book. If the book is

available you may check it out and pick it up at the library. If the book is not

available you can request it through ILL. In our case Northeast has one copy so

we can click "get this at ETSU/NeSCC" and have it sent to the Sherrod

Library for pickup. Click "request". You will get an email informing you of when

the book is ready to be picked up. ETSU links can also direct you to .org

and .edu articles. Many .edu and .org sources are

credible sources, but not always, so make sure to evaluate the source before using

it.

Google AIY Voice Kit (Version I) - Unboxing, Assembling, Software Setup & Demo - Duration: 25:22.

Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying your summer. Today we're going to learn about

the Google AIY Voice kit this is what it looks like and this is what you're going to expect

So let's get started

This is what's inside the Magpie. which also which also has instructions

well, the instructions

so this is how it looks like when we take it out of its covers

This is the voice hat

This is the voice hat microphone

This is our Raspberry Pi

This is our speaker, this is our Arcade button

these are the standoffs

and last but not least these are wires

first go to page number 16 in your magpi then read the instructions that's

what I'm gonna do right now first step insert the standoffs how to do that is

take your Raspberry Pi and insert two standoffs in the opposite holes of the

GPIO pins these two holes I'm gonna do that right now

Here are the standoffs. Step 2 placing the Voice Hat on the Raspberry

Pi here's how you do it first line up the headers with the 40 GPIO pins on the

Raspberry Pi, if you don't do this the pins will probably bend

next you put them in, now check no pins are left out so it's good to snap

once you're halfway through snap these

then, finish the rest

Step three, putting the speaker wires in the Voice Hat, the black goes in the

negative and the red goes in the positive first unscrew the screws next

there's a plus over here and a minus over here

put the red near the plus put the black near the minus.

then just push them in. next we're gonna screw the screws back. step 5

the button cable we're gonna use this end first we're gonna attach it here. Here to be more clear.

there's a bumpy side and a smooth side. the bumpy side always goes here where

the little hoops are.

step 6 attaching the microphone board cable to

the microphone board look at the bumpy side then look at empty side put the

bumpy side on to the empty side.

step 7 attaching the microphone to the voice hat same thing we'll pick the

bumpy side, meet it with the empty side put it there. step eight assembling the box

grab your bigger box and then as you can see here they described all the folds.

first, well, unflatten box then

fold. They've described them in order so first do one then fold two

step 9 secure the box which we've already done

step number 10 to 18 folding the flaps and putting everything into the box

we're going to start with folding the flaps 1 & 2 next we're going to fold the

thing that says Raspberry Pi goes here

now, this is for the speakers,

you fold this up, this part folds

and then this is where speakers gonna slide in

I almost forgot, you have to fold this

now we're gonna put the Raspberry Pi where it says Raspberry Pi goes here

so we are gonna put the "1" section here and uhh ..

Now, we have to fold the number two in between the USB ports and the Voice Hat

Next, slide the speaker in

First, take your box and put everything in make sure the speaker side is lined

up with the side where the holes are

before you proceed further check if everything's accessible this is the

Power, HDMI, USB ports, Ethernet port and a Micro SD Card. Step 19, add the arcade button to

the box here's how you do it first unscrew the ring

Next, add it through the hole which says button

here's how it looks on the inside and here's how it looks on the outside

Step number 21 wiring up the button if you look closely inside your button this is

crown shaped logo this is how you're gonna tell where to wire your button the

black goes on the top right of the button and the white goes on the top

left of the button

Pink goes opposite to black and blue goes opposite to white

Step number 22, check the wires, this should be fit and snug and they shouldn't be wobbling too

much

step number 23 attaching the microphone

you need double-sided tape for this but I didn't have any so I'm just going to

use these

make sure you don't cover the holes

there, make sure the holes are matching with these holes on the microphone board

step number 24 check the microphone board, make sure the holes are lined up with

the box holes. Step number 25, finish up the build.

Carefully close the box, then, all done

let's move on to the software onto the PC

We assembled the hardware, next we have to setup the software.

First and foremost, you will need the Google AIY Raspberry pi image, which you will need to write on your Micro SDcard

card I'll leave the link to download the image file and how to write it on your

micro SD card once you do that next you'll insert the micro SD card to the

Raspberry Pi we placed inside of Google AIY box

I put my SD card in my Raspberry Pi

now let's boot it up how you do that is plug in the HDMI cable then you can plug

in your power cable this is how it looks like once you booted it up after that we

need to connect to the internet click on this internet thing over here now let's

check the audio you can do that by double clicking on the check audio file

what you'll expect is for to say front Center

front center press Y and then you'll have to record it when you're ready

you'll have to say testing one two three testing one two three

did you hear your own voice

press ENTER to close congratulations you've successfully built your Google

AIY voice kit now let's bring it to life now we're going to build our voice

recognizer how to do that is go on chromium and type in

console.cloud.google.com you'll see a sign-in screen

sign in with your Google account I've already signed in mine to enable APIs, we can do this by clicking three line icon

going to api's and services

enable API services

and then you have to search for

Google assistant API

and click on enable

now we're going to create the credentials how you'll do that is go to

three lines and then go to api's and services and click on credentials

click on create' credentials click on olaf client ID then click on configure

consent screen

then just write the name of your project here

then click on save

after that you click on other and then you write the name of your project again

create don't worry about memorizing these just click OK next you have to

download the JSON file you can do this by clicking on this download JSON icon

then when we open this file downloads you'll see that it appeared here rename

it as assistant.JSON, OK

next we'll go to this tab called my account Google com then scroll down a

little bit and then if you haven't done it yet enabled it the web and app activity - then if

you haven't checked Marked this box check mark it.

now we have to cut the JSON file

and put it in the pi folder just go down right click and paste. there it is

now go on to the terminal and go this directory SRC slash example slash voice

then type in this command assistant underscore library underscore demo dot

py
