How Ex Air Traffic Controller Grew from SOLOpreneur to ENTREpreneur! - Duration: 37:40.

- Hi, my name is Carl Trent.

I own a website called dadsguidetowdw.com.

I've been with SBI! since 2008,

September 1st, 2008.

We got one page view.

Yesterday I had 30,025 page views.

If I can do it, you can too.

- So, Carl, for somebody that doesn't know you,

can you introduce yourself a little bit

and talk to us in the context particularly of your website.

It's a pretty exciting subject.

- (laughing) Yes, it is.

Well, my name is Carl Trent.

I was,

just a normal everyday average guy.

I was an air traffic controller

for 27 years and in that job

I was going to be forced to retire at age 55.

So, along the way through the years,

I was always trying to find a retirement job

and I wanted to center it around Disney

because I love Disney, especially Walt Disney World.

Disney has been,

Walt Disney himself and Disney has been a passion of mine

since I was very, very young,

since my grandmother took me to Disneyland

when I was like four years old.

- [Paul] Right.

- It's just been a passion forever

and so, I started out as,

I was gonna be a Disney Travel Agent

and I started learning how to be a travel agent

and I did all these courses,

even got to the point where I was a Disney Travel Agent

part time and was actually about to buy

a travel agency in Texas where we were living in 2001.

- [Paul] Wow.

- Something came up in August of 2001

that caused me, well, actually we got a new job

and were gonna move and it caused me

to back out of the contract

and the guy was fine with it.

It was very amicable, no problems.

But then again, six weeks later

the world changed and the travel agency,

the travel agent business died, really.

- [Paul] Yeah.

- At that time.

So, good for me.

But, I still had that passion

to help people with Disney World travel.

There is just a, at that time back then,

there was just a big gulf.

There just wasn't any help

for people that wanted to go to Disney World.

And this was before the internet got real popular,

so, 2008 I ran across SBI!

Build your own website.

Build a website that sells.

Build a website that makes money.

But, you have to put the work into it,

put the passion into it,

build a website around your personality

and around your passion

and so I knew that the Disney,

Walt Disney World was a very competitive market,

didn't ever really expect

to get into a really high place.

I just wanted to get to where I could help some people

with their trips to Walt Disney World.

Through the years that the site's grown

there was a couple year period

where I kind of went away from the site

and I started my online magazine.

And started building that as a product

to sell on the website and to others

and it just has grown and grown and grown

to where just this last month,

found out that we were ranking on the first page

of Google for the phrase Magic Kingdom

which has tremendous numbers

and just to get on the first page of Google for that

just it's been quite a ride.

It's just been a lot of fun.

- That's really interesting

because you talk about how you sort of

started out because you wanted to help a few people

but in actual fact, it turned into,

I almost said lifestyle and I suppose that's true

but it really became a life's work.

- Yeah, it's really become,

well, it's not work, it's fun.

I mean, it's just what I love to do

and so I get to sit around all day

and talk about my favorite thing

and write about my favorite thing

and I love doing the computer part of it.

I'm a computer geek.

I'm a website geek.

And just the whole thing is just a dream job.

It really is.

It's just, if I would have laid out my life

I couldn't have laid it out any better

than what it turned out.

- Very good, so for somebody

that's listening to this right now

you talked about how important it was to be,

or how great it was to be page one for Magic Kingdom.

Can you outline for somebody

that doesn't necessarily know too much

about website traffic or building an online business,

or they think they do

but they don't know much about keywords,

what the significance of that is?

- Well, the significance of it is that

Magic Kingdom is a term that's searched,

let's say a million times a day.

And to get to the first page of Google

for that particular keyword,

now I won't say that just being on the first page

is great 'cause we're not getting a lot.

We've got traffic, we've got probably 12 pages

to get more traffic than the Magic Kingdom page

because we're ranked number one or two in search

for those terms, but just to get to the Magic Kingdom,

to the first page, the first three slots are Disney slots.

The next slot is a Wikipedia slot.

And there's, the next slot is one

between me and another Disney webpage.

But we're beating TripAdvisor,

we're beating, just huge.

- [Paul] Everyone.

- Everybody, Yelp, just anybody.

There are a lot of big players in the Disney market

and to be on the front page

for that keyword, it's just pretty spectacular.

But, if I was in the top three or four

then the traffic would be pretty spectacular, too.

But, that's just the reality.

- But, the traffic is, nevertheless, spectacular

because you're able to run a full-time business

off this, aren't you?

- Yes, we have a lot of traffic.

Our main money comes from our magazine.

That's where we make most of our money.

The website is probably a little under-monetized.

But, that's not the goal.

The goal of the website is to get people on our email list,

to help people

so we can use our newsletters

and we can get that interaction

that we can use to help people

and so if we had a goal just to make money,

be full of AdSense ads, it'd be full.

It would just be plastered.

Yeah, we'd be making more money off of it, but.

- It wouldn't be what you want.

- [Carl] It's exactly right.

- And that's really a powerful difference, isn't it?

It's interesting listening to you

because I know with sites or with Site Build It!,

we talk about your voice and your passion

and things like this and clearly,

that's what drives it.

It became from something that you just thought you'd do

a little bit to help some people out

into an overwhelming opportunity for you

to really live an ideal life

and to me that's like you're just constantly sharing

your love of the subject and your enthusiasm

and anybody that's even listening to you now

can really get how engaged you are in it.

It's not just like a, oh, yeah,

well this is an exciting thing

that that we really think you should be excited about.

(laughing)

- Yeah, no, I'm living the dream.

(laughing)

- So, with that in mind, Carl,

it's not really just the website itself

that's doing the traffic and the keywords

and the content and all the rest of it,

you also have an extensive presence

with social activities and also using other things

like video and Pinterest and all the rest of it.

Can you outline, first of all,

what the other social activities are

and what impact they have on the site.

- Well, we have,

I'm gonna forget I'm sure, something.

We have a Facebook channel, a Facebook page.

We have a Facebook group which we just started

about six weeks ago and we've got

1,200 members in it now, very active.

We have a YouTube channel for the website.

We have a Pinterest page.

That's probably about it.

Those are the ones we kind of focus on.

We do Twitter.

We do auto Twitter from our Facebook page.

We've never found Twitter to be particularly helpful

in our niche but we've tried to,

one of the reasons you want to do social media,

one of the reasons I wanted to do social media,

because it's social proof to Google.

It tells Google that you have a presence

that's not just your website.

So we've got a presence.

We've got a fairly active Facebook page.

Our Facebook group is active.

We started a YouTube channel.

Well, we started it a long time ago.

We started to get active on it in December of 2016

and started really ramping that up.

We go back and forth on Pinterest.

We're active for a little while and then we're not.

I do have a full-time person that works on social media.

And then the one thing that I've mentioned before

that a lot of people don't think about

is how active we are with our email.

We send weekly emails and then we send

emails intermittently probably another,

over a month's time we'll send probably

not just the four newsletters,

but we'll send probably six or eight more reminders

or offers or things during the month.

So, it's a whole package.

It's just anything we can think of

to get people talking to us, talking to people

and get interaction, that's what we're trying to do.

- Okay, so, let's talk about

some other sources of traffic then.

And I wanted to particularly focus on video

and your use of video.

One of the things that I'm really struck by

is your use of the live question and answers

or live conversations and this, to me,

seems to be probably, I mean I know you do other videos

but this seems to be the most

present-time impactful thing that you could be doing

with your viewers, if you like,

with those that are engaged in the content.

Can you talk a little bit about,

first of all, what prompted you to even start to do that

or was it just a no-brainer?

- When, I don't know where I heard this from,

might have been from you, I don't know,

was to take, to make,

to create content, instead of writing it out,

do it as a video and then have it transcribed

and turn that into a webpage, too.

So, I've had, for years I've had this,

what I call, Ask Dad page

where people can ask me questions.

They send 'em in and I type answers back.

So, in December of 2016 we decided to start

doing this weekly show where we'd do a full show

with news and ads and the main part of it

would be I would answer the questions

from the Ask Dad page and then also

the people watching it could send questions in live

and I'd answer 'em right then and there.

Live, so every week, every Friday at noon,

it was called Lunch with Dad.

Every Friday at noon, I would show up

and I'd spend right about an hour

going through the news and all of the questions.

We would have on the average of about 20 questions a week.

And eight to 10 of those

would be made into SBI! Content 2.0 pages.

We've made, I don't have my,

know how many hundred we've done since we started.

I know at one point we had

over 500 question videos on YouTube.

We'd also take, we'd cut Ask,

we'd cut the Lunch with Dad up

so each of the questions would be turned into a video

and we'd put that on YouTube.

At your table had to have the Disney dining plan.

Now they've fixed that,

I don't know why they ever did it that way

but now they've fixed it.

So, we're getting content on the website.

We're getting content on YouTube.

We're generating traffic on both channels,

cross traffic, cross promoting.

But the thing that happened was people were just engaged.

We'd get 200, 300 comments live as we did it.

It was just very engaging.

People just wanted to be involved with it.

Due to time constraints, 'cause it took a lot of time

to prepare for that, two weeks ago we quit doing that

but what we're doing now is I'm doing

one or two a week where I'm going in live

and I'm saying, hey, we'll talk about a particular subject

and then I'll open it up for questions.

Any questions you've got,

so and they know in advance I'm gonna be there.

So, the questions are still coming in.

We did one last week

that had 236 comments

during the live stream.

So, it's really, you talk about getting a Facebook,

and this we did in the group.

We've moved it over to the group

because what I found out with Facebook,

and what I've found with Facebook,

if you've got a page, good luck getting Facebook

to show that to anybody.

- [Paul] (laughing) Yeah.

- They just don't show it to anybody.

But if they're in a group,

guess what the first thing they see is.

If they're active in a group,

the first thing they're gonna see is that group,

what's going on in that group.

So the group tends to get more interaction

than the page that's got 80,000 likes on it.

So the group with 1,200 people gets more interaction

than the page with 80,000 likes.

So, it's just, we're trying to adapt

with the changes that Facebook makes.

- Yeah, it is quite an interesting thing

and I've noticed how effective groups can be.

I don't think that that's any particular surprise,

as long as you've got the interest there.

But, part of having a group from my point of view

is that you actually have a little bit more control

over Facebook because, as you say,

with the newsfeed it can just disappear

but with a group, people are committed.

They go into the group.

They're getting notifications and all the rest of it

and you know that they're there.

And it's also special

so people want to be in there as well.

- Yeah, and you have a little more control

over not only who's in it but moderation.

We've got moderators in the group

and it just, it's just easier to handle than the page.

- Right, so let's just divide this up then.

You're doing the live thing now

in a different format to the group only.

But, so to the general Facebook stream

is that just photos and maybe news updates?

I notice that you have a calendar, I think,

like what's on, that sort of thing.

- Yep, every morning first thing in the morning

we put up what's going on today.

The weather, the crowds, the special events,

the hours, that comes up first thing in the morning.

During the day we'll post five to six times,

different things, content, new content,

we create new content every day

so there's new content going up.

There are pictures.

If we do a live, we will share it into the main page

so the main page is still seeing it in real time.

But, it's actually happening in the group.

But, anything that comes up,

if there's a news item we'll post it.

So, it's just, we used to,

back when Facebook was a lot better,

we used to post 16 times a day.

Now we're down to five.

And that's just the reality of how Facebook works.

- Yeah, that's right.

So let's focus a little bit on YouTube.

And I'll probably come back to Facebook again in a moment.

YouTube, you have been creating videos consistently

for a hell of a long time.

Can you give us an idea, I mean,

you've talked about the question and answer ones,

but the custom made ones, if you like,

how long have they generally taken you to create?

- The custom made ones aren't really,

the ones we're doing, I do for the Dad's Guide channel,

don't take long.

I write a script.

I set up my iPhone on a tripod.

I talk to my iPhone and I just,

I'm not one shot but two or three shots

I can usually get through

where I've done the whole thing in one take.

- And you're editing it yourself?

- I have an assistant that is a video editor

and I send it to her.

She puts on the front and the tail

and if there's anything that needs to be trimmed

in the middle, she'll do that.

And yes, she takes care of that, not me.

- [Paul] So she knows well enough what's right

and what's wrong and what to fix and what to leave.

- Right.

- [Paul] Right, that's exactly what you need.

So those videos, how long do they tend to be?

- Short.

Two to three, five minutes at the most.

The problem with the live stream is

I tend to ramble when I'm on the live stream.

I'll do a review of a restaurant.

It'll be 14 minutes long because I'm off on tangents

and thinking about everything and,

but when I'm doing it to camera

and have a script I'm thinking about

and it's shorter because I'm much more focused

when I'm just doing that,

when I'm just doing the thing to the camera.

I'm much more focused so they tend to be

three to five minutes.

- What's your most wanted response from these?

- For people to watch 'em. (laughing)

- [Paul] But it's a new audience, isn't it, watching these.

- It is a new audience.

We're building audience over on YouTube,

that's kinda what we're doing.

In fact, our YouTube strategy,

it's pull it out of the hat.

We really don't know what we're doing yet over there.

We're just starting to really think about

what we're doing on YouTube and how to do it better.

It's been kind of, we started this as a content building

for SBI! strategy and now it's kind of morphing into,

okay, we gotta start getting a little smarter about this

and getting a little more,

so we've started creating a list

of things we want to do with our YouTube.

Now we've got people into expecting videos every day.

So, it's going to be hard to match that appetite

and to create good videos every day.

So, it's gonna be a challenge.

- So let's go back to Facebook

because that's really probably the area

of great interest for me here now.

You're doing a lot of live broadcasting

for many people, they don't really

have the wherewithal to do it

or the knowledge about how to do it.

Can you just walk us through what you use

and how you use it and how effective it is?

- Sure,

start with, I don't have a camera.

I, when we're doing our Lives on Facebook

I use my MacBook Pro.

I have my MacBook Pro.

I use my camera right on my MacBook Pro.

I use a program called ECAMM.

I think it was $35

that I paid for ECAMM, it's not a subscription,

it's a one-time cost.

And I use that.

That posts to Facebook.

That posts directly to Facebook.

- Automatically? - Automatically.

You set up a time, you schedule it

or you can do it live.

I mean, you can post, I wanna go now.

And you can post to groups or to pages.

Like we've got 10 pages and 15 groups.

I can pick which one.

I've got some dead groups, when I wanna test something

I'll go into a dead group and I'll test it.

You can do interviews.

It's getting more robust all the time.

And we use that.

I have a Yeti microphone that I use

but it's sitting right here.

I got a black one so you can't see it.

(chuckling)

- We'd better tell people what a Yeti microphone is.

It's by a company called Blue, would you believe,

it's a Blue Yeti.

- Blue Yeti.

- And it's very good. - It was always Blue.

This one they did special and it was black

so I thought black looked cool

so I had to have a black Yeti.

But, we use the ECAMM.

I'll schedule something.

You can put pictures like I have,

a sponsor I have their little ad up here.

I set my room up.

I set everything all up

and I talk to the camera

and I, when the time comes it says Go Live,

I punch the Go Live button and here we go.

- [Paul] Right.

- I also do some sound, usually.

I like, I'm into classic rock,

80s, I'm an 80s, 70s, 80s, 60s, 70s, 80s rock

and I'll play snippets

and I gotta be careful about how long

of those I play 'cause if you play too long

and YouTube says you've got copyright infringement

so I'll keep the snippets pretty short.

But I've got an external mike that I use

that boosts the sound up for the snippets

but it's pretty simple setup.

It's cheap.

The Yeti was $129 and the external speakers like 50 bucks.

You know, for 200 bucks you got everything

ready to go.

- So, you really are your own little production house.

(chuckling)

So, you've talked a little bit about,

you've talked a little bit about the assistants you have

and I think for somebody watching this right now,

they're going, well I'm just me.

How on earth am I going to have a site

that's got, obviously, thousands and thousands

and thousands of visitors a day.

It's funding all of this.

I can't do it all by myself.

So tell me about your team, your hidden elves.

- I was right there.

For years I had no help, no paid help.

In fact, until I started the online magazine

I did not have any paid help.

The online magazine has driven most of my paid help

because it is a multiple full-time jobs.

And as things grew,

I could probably do everything for the website,

of the Dad's Guide website by myself,

but adding that online magazine and

we're running two big businesses,

content creation, magazine,

the online magazine's moving to print this year.

I mean, it's a major undertaking.

And so when I started back in 2013,

I started the online magazine

and then early 2014, well, I had this lady

that was helping me write content.

I wasn't paying her much back then

but she was writing some of the Ask Dad pages.

I was still working full time.

So I'm out in this website, starting this online magazine,

working full time with unpaid help.

So, I've been there.

So, when the online magazine started, we made some money,

middle of 2014 I hired my first assistant full time

and her job was mainly to work on the magazine.

She's the editor of the magazine.

She works as much as I do keeping track of the magazine.

And she does the video editing.

But I still do most of the Dad's Guide stuff myself.

I do all the content writing.

I do all the, I upload all the pages.

I mean, I do pretty much most of the website stuff myself.

Yeah, I get a little help but,

yes, I don't do the, I've done when we had the

16 posts a day for Facebook, I was doing those.

And still working a full-time job.

So, while it sounds like a lot,

you can do it as a one-person shop.

I don't have to do it as a one-person shop anymore

but that's only because I got 7,000 other things

that we're dealing with.

We're printing calendars.

We're writing books.

I mean, right there you see my book.

We're trying, we're building a pretty large business

so it takes more than just what you would for a website.

- You know, you talk about the expanded team,

it does seem to me that you reach a tipping point

where if you want to grow, you have to have some extra help

even though it does cost you money.

Was that your experience? - Absolutely.

Absolutely, there just comes a point

where you can't do it all.

And it's a good thing to have help.

I'm a firm believer in team.

My full-time team, I have two full-time assistants.

I have eight photographers to work on our team.

We've got 20 writers.

We've got a team of about 50 people

with proof-readers and everything

that goes into the magazine.

We've got a really large team

and I said this once in the forums,

you don't have a business until you've had to make payroll.

(Paul chuckling)

You just have a website.

But when you have to make a payroll,

then you got a business.

- You know, somebody listening to that right now

is liking, oh my God!

(chuckling)

And it's really important to make the point

that you don't have to build it that big.

That's your particular passion.

- [Carl] No.

- But I think what I really wanted to say

was that the beauty of an online environment like this

is that you can really grow it as far

north or status quo or whatever you wanna do as you like.

It is really up to you.

You know, there are some really tight niches

that wouldn't warrant this.

- I'm in a huge niche.

I'm in a huge niche, it really is.

There's probably 100 new websites started today

for Walt Disney World.

- [Paul] No, really?

- Yes, it's just everybody thinks they can do it.

But it's not because I did it myself.

It's because I've built a team.

I've had help.

SBI!'s been a great help.

And me, I'm just driven to do these kind of things.

It's just my nature.

It's not my nature to relax.

I just can't do it.

So, you don't have to be like me.

It's not, it's okay.

You don't have to be, but.

- [Paul] Nah, I mean, you're site might be

about a little church in an obscure English village

and that's fine, too.

There could be a huge amount of interest in that.

- Exactly, and the good thing about SBI! is

you have the platform to get dominance in any niche.

If I can get it in the Disney World niche,

you can get it in any nitch or niche or whatever you wanna.

- It's interesting, you raise

the impact that SBI! has had for you.

You've been with the company or using it as a platform

for a long time, since then WordPress has come up

and lots of other platforms.

Have you ever been tempted to move?

- Absolutely, absolutely.

In fact, I think it was last year

that I wrote in the forums,

I'm done, I'm going.

I have WordPress sites.

I've got probably, I've got six WordPress sites.

And the temptation is always there

but then all it takes is one big traffic rush

on one of my sites, which freezes my whole account,

and I'm paying $170 a month for my WordPress sites

and if I get a big traffic rush for some reason

then they all go, we're in maintenance mode

for a few minutes and if that's when I'm doing a big sale,

which has happened multiple times,

then I've lost a bunch of money.

So, and with SBI! if I get a million hits a day,

it doesn't matter, it's gonna work.

It's gonna be there.

I'm not gonna get dinged or,

like I did with my former host,

get my whole account shut down

because I had a traffic rush.

And no notification.

Somebody just sent me a note, said your account's down.

I go and they tell me, oh, are you the owner?

We've shut your account down.

What?

- [Paul] Why?

- We think you're getting spammed.

No, I just wrote a post that everybody in the world

wants to read and the last thing I want

is my site being down right now.

- That's really interesting

because it is a fundamental difference

between, I think, a lot of platforms and SBI!

and I've actually never thought about it before

but when they talk about

build a site that makes you money

or a site that works

or an online business that works,

what it's exactly talking about is saying

that we actually think business.

We are actually designed for you

to be incredibly successful,

not for a situation

where you might only get 100 visits a day.

- Right.

Yeah.

And the thing with the page speed and the images

is just, for me that's incredible.

I put my images up, my pages load immediately

and I can have 30 images on a page and it loads.

You go on their WordPress, on the WordPress site,

you put (grinding).

It's just, and that is one of the reasons

I can dominate for words like Magic Kingdom

because my images load and other pages

have to keep images off their site

because they don't load fast enough.

- So, one of the burning questions

that I've wanted to ask you,

on a completely different tack,

one of the burning questions

that I've wanted to ask you for a while,

because I grew up with Disneyland in the 60s.

Black and white television, Donald Duck cartoons,

absolutely awesome.

We didn't have television.

I went over to a neighbor's house

and we had ice cream and cake for dessert

and watched Disneyland.

It was very special and I've never forgotten it.

I'm pretty curious what it is

that got you really engaged in it

and how you became Dad.

- Well, I think that's kind of two different stories

but

I grew up in the Wonderful World of Disney era

with Bambi and Snow White and all the Disney movies

and yeah, I'm a guy, but I kinda like those things

and my mom was a Disney fan

and I kinda had

a really love for Walt

and followed him very carefully,

wrote high school papers about Walt

because he was just kind of my hero

because of his technological advances,

because of what he had developed,

how he had gone from nothing, literally nothing

to developing this empire.

Not that I want to develop an empire,

yes I do, but (chuckling) anyway,

but how I became Dad was when I started looking at SBI!

I wanted to build a site where guys could come

and get a love for Disney

and so it was going to be a Dad's Guide to Walt Disney World

where I was the Dad and I was going to help guys

into the Disney lifestyle.

As the site started growing

and we started getting statistics,

especially through Facebook,

I noticed this first on Facebook,

our Facebook page started growing,

I noticed that Facebook analytics was showing me

that 65% of our traffic was from women

and only 35% was from men.

How do you have a site called Dad's Guide to WDW

being 65% women, so we kinda changed our tone

a little bit, I kinda changed our tone a little bit

and we started talking about Disney in general,

making it less gender specific

and just spreading my passion for Walt Disney World

and apparently women really enjoy that.

It stayed at 65-70% women.

It still is 65-70% women.

Just everything we do gravitates to women.

I guess the Disney niche kinda gravitates

a little more to women than the men

but I'd still love to do the come on guys.

I do this every once in a while.

Come on guys.

You need to fall in love with Disney.

But the Dad thing was I'm a dad.

I'm proud of being a dad.

I love my kids.

I love, and I wanted to kind of give that perspective,

a dad being trustworthy, being the helpful,

the pat on the back, the kick in the rear when you need it,

just that dad figure, that Ward Cleaver figure,

if you, just that,

the idea behind Dad is that perfect dad

that you wish you had

that tells you what you need to know about Disney.

You trust him, that's one of the things I say

multiple trust, trust, trust me

to build that trust and that,

and that I'm open and you come to me with a problem,

I help you solve it.

So, that's what the Dad brand is.

- Well, on that note, I think that's a wonderful way

to actually end the conversation

except is there anything particular

that you wanted to cover or we should bring up

that we haven't thought of.

- Just to have passion for whatever you're doing.

Just to have passion, get it out there.

Interact with people.

Whether it's your followers,

whether it's other people in your niche,

your competitors, interact with people.

Build teams.

Build, your team doesn't have to be

people that work for you.

You're team is who you interact with,

who you're talking to,

your followers, your other competitors.

They're part of your team.

Build your team.

Build those relationships.

It will help you tremendously as you go forward

and just be passionate about whatever you do.

- Well, on that note, thank you very much, Dad.

I've really enjoyed this little chat

and I'm sure it will help us all.

- Thank you.

How to Deal with Negative Thoughts about Yourself - Duration: 4:51.

the negative thoughts you have about yourself are one of the biggest

obstacles in your way of success today we're discussing six ways on how you can

deal with those negative thoughts let's start with the first idea now number one

if you wouldn't say it to other people don't think it about yourself I have two

examples here I was at a party recently and it seemed all my friends were either

dating or married and I thought Michael you're such a loser oh man you're gonna

die alone and then I stopped myself because I realized I would never say

that to somebody else who was single and because I won't say it to them I

shouldn't think it about me and with this YouTube channel maybe you have a

dream maybe you have something you're very excited about too and you're

working hard but you're not really getting the results you'd like I have

thought you're a loser no one cares what you have to say you're wasting your time

just give up what I say that to someone else absolutely not again if you

wouldn't say it to them don't think it about yourself number two you have a

diamond inside one of my favorite quotes is from Emerson what lies behind us and

what lies ahead of us are of tiny matters compared to what lies in us and

I think about this ring box that I got on Amazon for two dollars and 37 cents

it doesn't have a lot of value just like the way you're thinking right now you

compare yourself to other people you don't have a lot of value yet when I

show this box to people they think it's worth a lot more because they assume

that there's a diamond inside all you need to do is open up and here's how you

open up instead of going through life asking what's in it for me

ask what's in me for you you see when you look to give in this world

eventually you're going to open up and people will see your enthusiasm your

passion your drive towards something and as you open up eventually people will

know the simple fact that you have a diamond inside number-three see the good

in others you've heard the saying if you don't have anything nice to say don't

say anything at all the opposite is also true if you have something nice to say

say it shout it tell the whole world about it because here's what's happening

you're a product of what you focus on if you focus on the bad and yourself you're

going to look and see the bad in others but if you look and focus on

good in others you can't help but to start looking for the good and yourself

and if you're struggling with negative thoughts about yourself start scanning

the people in your life seeing what you admire and tell them about it

and I will tell you over time you'll start feeling so much better about

yourself because you're seeing the good in them and you can't help but to see

the good in yourself number four know the difference between

guilt and shame guilt is I did something bad shame is I am bad when your life is

filled with shame you're going to be filled with negative thoughts recently I

caught myself knowing the difference between guilt and shame this past week

my father was in the hospital having hip surgery I had completely forgot about it

I did not check in on him a week later he called me he said everything was ok

but I felt terrible now I stopped myself and I realized I could not shame myself

I couldn't say that I was a bad son I just had to use guilt and say that I was

forgetful and I did something bad there is a tremendous difference my friend

you may do idiotic things you may make mistakes you may do things but you're

not an idiot you're not a mistake and you're not a bad person

know the difference between guilt and shame number 5 take compliments I'll

never forget hearing from Zig Ziglar he said that not taking compliments is a

sign of a poor self-image when I was filled with negative thoughts just like

maybe you are now maybe you can't take compliments because you questioned their

sincerity or if you feel like you deserve them or not I'm here to tell you

stop doing that if someone says something nice about you whether it's

your appearance your work ethic whatever it may be just smile and say thank you

it will work wonders for getting rid of these negative thoughts and the last

idea help others Earl Nightingale has said that a candle is never diminished

when it is used to light another sometimes we have ruts in our life

sometimes we have failure temporary defeat but we have to realize that there

are other people out there too if we step away from our problems and realize

that we have value to add other people we can light them up with our words and

our actions will start feeling a lot better about ourselves and all these

negative thoughts we have about being worthless not having value will go away

because we realize we're burning a flame for someone else my friend these six

ideas will work they'll address your negative thoughts if you apply them if

you liked this video and you'd like more like it subscribe to our Channel today

you're inspired life giving you the inspiration motivation and necessary

information to live your inspired life this is your friend Michael from your

How to work with other(s) departments effectively & get them do their job properly! - Duration: 8:08.

Some of us have jobs that require cooperating with different departments

and as we know this may not always be easy especially is the person that's

responsible for the entire project is you so How do we do it effectively? If

you are a project manager, an account manager or a coordinator in any shape or form I'm

sure you're working with multiple departments to accomplish your work.

First thing I want to talk about is Treat your colleagues as your peers and

not as your subordinates. What happens is that when we are in the

coordination positions we feel that we are very responsible for the role and we

kind of feel like we're outsourcing the job to other departments so the

relationship becomes more like a client and supplier - very transactional more like

just get on with your job no side hustle, no questions asked. And what I want to say

is I encourage you to talk to them as if they were your peers because first of

all they are your peers but treat them as an expert in their field. Moreover, make sure that

you understand the challenges they are facing and their importance in the

process make them feel heard, make them feel important and acknowledge that the work

that they are doing actually matters because guess what it actually really

does. Show respect and interest in other departments work so as I mentioned

earlier it is important to show respect to your colleagues and acknowledge that

their contribution to your project is valid and significant so one of the

things that you can do is you can involve them in the

early briefing call or briefing meeting so they feel they are there at the source

and they're not getting some sort of second hand information another thing

that you can do is to show them that you are interested in the challenges that

are facing to deliver your work or maybe you can go even further and ask about

what are the department's challenges and things that they face that and might

prevent them from doing the best they can for you. Keep it interesting and

challenging for them. No one likes working on a boring task so

give people tasks that are exercising their skills and imagination of whatever they

need to accomplish the task. Ignite that fire within them or if you

cannot give them the motivating time maybe make your brief motivating another important

thing that I see many people do not do is to explain why is it that you're

asking for what is it that you're asking for and just give people background

about like what are the actual reasons behind their job because you know what

it will actually make them work better and understand their entire

contribution much more and they will be able to deliver a better piece of work

for you so it's a really a win-win situation which nicely leads me to

another point. Creating a "We" mentality so what I'm talking about here is it's

not you and the other departments but it's "we" mentality it's us as one team so

make sure that everyone on the team feels that they are in it together

because guess what if you can't show it or if you can't even show the excitement

for the work how can they? Develop a sense

of responsibility and ownership. Everyone on the team needs to know what they are

responsible for and they need to feel that they own their piece of work if in any

way you make them feel like they don't own it it's like taking their power away

it's like taking their job or performance away so make sure that

everyone feels they're responsible and accountable for the work they are to

deliver. Share the full feedback with the team. So what often times happens at a

an account handler or a coordination position is that we receive some piece of feedback

and sometimes don't really fully pass it on. Now on one hand I understand but on

the other hand that makes the other departments or colleagues feel like

they're less important in the process and do not get me wrong you have to be

very good about your feedback so you have to know how to edit it to the team

so let's say if your client is complaining about your colleague you

don't really wanna you know pass that feedback on but maybe their feedback is

so clear that it would be really good if you could just pass it on as it is to

your colleague and it would make them feel like they have the feedback from

the source and that they understand it. Sometimes what happens is that we people

get a bit anxious when they don't get the right feedback is because they do

not trust you like that you can interpret the feedback correctly when

you're paraphrasing. Therefore, you just really need to find the right

balance between how to share it but the more you share the more involved your

team will feel about that. Find out what's in it for them. Make sure that

you know what your team's goals and aspirations are like. Do they want a

promotion? Do they want to change the departments? Do they want more money?Find

out what's in it for them and try to treat them accordingly. Another very

important thing is to recognise their successes. Everyone likes to be

recognised and everyone likes to be acknowledged for their work so whether

you pick up a public or private situation I am sure that no one will

argue with you if you give them a good positive feedback. Pick your battles well.

When I was younger I really did not get this whole concept and sadly it came

with age. Well, my life would have been so much easier if I did but this is a very

important topic so if you are experiencing issues you really need to

understand which ones you let go of and which ones you don't to create an

optimal working environment. Here's the thing if you are maybe a bit more

opinionated somehow feel like more superior to the others this might be a

very hard thing to do but there's this one vital thing you need to remember you

want people to work WITH you not against you and I say there one more time you

want people to work WITH you and not against you. You need to be very

careful you cannot be petty or bitchy and you should just only focus on

addressing issues that will have impact. Maybe there is a major quality issue and

there's a big thing so this is where you need to divert your focus to.

And finally the respect comes from actions and not a title. Some people

may think that when they get promoted to director level that everyone should

automatically respect that. Well, guess what it does not really work like that,

right? You have to demonstrate through your action that you're worthy of

respect. So you need to walk your talk. And also people are drawn to those who

are being genuine and authentic and this is how you gain respect. There you have it these

are my ten tips on how to work effectively with other departments

within your company. I would absolutely love to hear from you and what are your

challenges with your departments or if any of those tips I just shared applied

to you and you can utilize them on day to day. If you do please pop it in the

comment box down below. If you like this video please give thumbs up and

subscribe and it's always - Be kind. Stay positive and I will see you next time.

Russia shocks Spain in penalty shootout How did the hosts beat the 2010 World Cup champs ESPN FC - Duration: 3:12.

what a world cup it's been now another favorite Spain has been sent packing

courtesy of the host nation Russia after defeating the Spaniards on penalty

Stevie Nicola is here with me on this one and it's a miracle how we were still

awake after the first you know two halves and then extra time because

between Spain trying to walk the ball into the net and Russia's to think all

the way back that Stevie said if they went any further they need tickets to

get back into the stadium it was not the most beautiful of games Stevie but let's

talk about Spain because that's where we have to start where did it go so

terribly wrong for them there's a lot to be said for having possession and

territorial advantage but if you don't use it properly then what happened

against Russia can keep happening you know Spain and say the the attacking

thought had no ideas and you talk about essential and then he has to comment on

David silver was there eSchool no you would think one of those would be able

to produce something even even legal cost up was anonymous because he

couldn't fight anybody because nobody wanted to fight him they were just too

comfortable so this is what harms when you don't use the the firepower you have

so who do you blame there do you go all the way to the top at Hierro now did he

get anything tactically wrong no not at all listen the the luster they lost a

freak penalty when peaky handled the ball other than that they had a lot of

penalty show late in the game did you think that was a pen no no there are far

too many players Perelman and pushing each other to try and figure out who's

doing it the most or who started it so no I have no problem with that

listen in the day and the attacking third of the field they had enough

possession span you can't look at here and say he did anything wrong he didn't

he didn't pick the wrong team I would I would have played all these guys as well

they had an opportunity it was in the hands of the players and the players

couldn't produce it all right well now we have to shift focus to Russia believe

it or not because they are in the quarter finals of this World Cup on the

other side it will either be Croatia or Denmark that await

Stevi so now people will start to get even more excited and believing in this

Russian team how much of a run do you see them making can they get past either

Croatia or Denmark when the time comes I don't believe you can listen this just

tells you what it's like for the home team to have the crowd with them the

nation with them can push en to things that you don't even know you have that's

what those Russian team did today defensively I've never seen a team look

so cool and calm under so much pressure you know then it wasn't like they had to

throw bodies in front of the ball or our last minute ditch tackles a desperate

defendant that was just organized and calm and they got the job done

and then they want on paralyzed alright thanks so much - Stevie Nicol we will

definitely be continuing to talk about this absolute flop from Spain and Russia

advancing to the quarterfinals make sure to catch our show ESPN FC later on today

How to Visualize Your Dreams Into Reality - Duration: 10:14.

(Music)

TERRI: Bonjour. Hey, it's Terri Savelle Foy, your cheerleader of

dreams. Hey I pray as you, invest in yourself today, you're

captivated and you're catapulted to live your dreams. In fact

today I wanna talk to you about how to visualize your dreams

into reality. I'm standing here on the stunning French Riviera

in Nice, France, right here on the beautiful Mediterranean sea.

Do you know everything that I'm doing in the present, I

visualized in the past. Everything I'm doing, everything

from coming to this nation, getting to minister here. We

just had a conference, an Icing conference for women,

but you know what, I visualized that in the past, I imagined it

on the inside before it ever showed up on the outside. Well,

I've heard stories about the African Impala, you know the

little animal, which I thought was a car, but it's an animal.

Well I've heard how the African Impala can jump 10 feet high and

30 feet long. Now think about that, 10 feet high, 30 feet

long. However, you will find them at the zoo behind a four

foot fence and they won't even attempt to get out. Do you know

why? Because the little Impala can't see over the fence. Here's

the thing, they will never attempt to jump where they can't

see first. Now think about that, they have the ability to jump 10

feet high, but they won't because they can't see where

they're headed. Well, it's the same with you. You have to see

where you're headed before you start taking steps towards it.

Well where do you see it? In your imagination, you visualize

where you wanna go before you go there. Well, I think about in

the Bible how God said to Jeremiah, he said, "Jeremiah,

what do you see?" Well Jeremiah began to tell him, he said, "I

see a branch, blossoming in late winter, branch of an olive

tree," and he started describing what he saw. Then the Lord said

back to him, "You've seen well." Then he said, "I'm watching over

my word to perform it." Well then God came back to Jeremiah

another time, he said, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" Now

what if Jeremiah had said, "Nothing."? Well see, if you see

nothing you can expect nothing. You've gotta see something

before you can have something. You have to use the gift of the

imagination and visualize where you wanna go. In fact, in my

book Imagine Big, I told the story that I heard from Jack

Canfield about a woman named Glenna Salsbury. Now in this

story Glenna, early in her career, this is what she said,

she was a single mom with three daughters, she was way down with

the house payment, a car payment and a need to rekindle some

dreams. Glenna attended a seminar that focused on your

imagination and visualizing where you wanna go in life. So

the speaker pointed out that our minds think in pictures. We

don't think in words, we think in pictures. He said, "As we

vividly picture what we desire, it will become a reality." Well,

Glenna was so moved by this, and of course she knows the Bible

says that God will give us the desires of our heart, she also

knew proverbs 23:7 that says, "As a man thinks in his heart,

so does he become." In other words, what you think about, you

bring about. Combining God's word with visualizing, she said

she made a dream book. She arranged photos of all the

dreams she wanted into the album, bringing these images to

her mind. She said that pictures included a woman in a weeding

gown, 'cause she was believing to get married, a good looking

man in a tuxedo, an island in the blue Caribbean where she

wanted to go on her honeymoon, college diplomas for her

daughters, a female vice president of a company, because

she wanted to be the first woman vice president in that company,

and she even put like a graduation cap, believing that

she could graduate from seminary. Eight weeks later

Glenna was driving down the California freeway, and she

noticed this beautiful red and white car following her. She

looked at the driver, he looked at her, they made eye contact.

First she was a little creeped out. They ended up following

each other, pulled over, met and a few years later they got

married. Well this is the funny thing, all of a sudden she said

more images in her album started happening. While they're

planning the wedding, Glenna's fiancé told her he found the

perfect honeymoon spot in the Caribbean, and she had never

told him about her dream book. Well not only that, she said she

kept it a secret when they were moving into their new home,

which was also exactly like the picture in the dream book.

Glenna eventually became vice president of human resources in

the company where she worked, completed her masters degree and

became one of the first women admitted as a doctoral candidate

at Fuller seminary. Everything she started putting in her book

became a reality. Well, this is a major point. The more specific

the images are, the more likely you are to stay focused. So take

the time to imagine where you wanna go, what you wanna have,

who you wanna meet, where you wanna live, what you wanna

drive. Start putting pictures and images with those goals.

There's a principal in the word of God that you become what you

behold. See, whatever you keep before your eyes it will

eventually show up in your life, but you have to keep it before

your eyes. Even in goal setting they say, "Keep your goals out

of reach, but never out of sight." You have to keep 'em in

front of you. Well, this reminds me of a story in the Bible of

Jacob. You remember where Jacob wanted to marry the beautiful

girl Rachel and he worked for his uncle for 14 years, finally

got to marry Rachel. Well one night Jacob had a dream, and he

had ... God began to speak to him. In this dream God began to

tell him, he said, "Jacob it's time for you to leave, take your

family, move off," and he said, "But before you go tell your

uncle Laban that you demand that he gives you all the speckled

and spotted cows. Well, Jacob went to his uncle and he said,

"I'm leaving, I'm taking my family, but you have to give me

all the speckled and spotted cows." His uncle looks around

the field and mostly sees solid color cows, so he says, "You got

a deal." Well, what his uncle didn't realize was God gave

Jacob a strategy. And I'm sure it looked just like this, but

God told Jacob, he said, "Before you go I want you to go get some

branches off the tree, get a knife and streak those branches

and make them look like sports. Put spots all over these

branches." Then he said, "I want you to take those branches and

put them in the watering trough with the cows, so every day when

those cows are drinking water, solid color cows, they're

looking at spots, looking at spots, looking at spots." He

said, "When those cows are ready to give birth hold those

branches up." Now think about this. Those solid colored cows

gave birth to speckled and spotted offspring, with no

logical reason other than whatever you keep before your

eyes, it will eventually show up in your life. I've even heard

where Jacob walked away with 75% of the livestock because of this

principle. Well do you know what I learned from this? Three

things. Number one, this was God's idea. It didn't come from

Glenna Salsbury, it didn't come from Jack Canfield, it didn't

come from Steve Harvey, Jim Carrey, people who practice

this, it came from God's word, he's the one who wrote this.

Number two, it ties in perfectly with the law of attraction and

Proverb 23:7, "Whenever a man thinks about, so does he

become." And number three, are you ready for this? If it don't

work for a cow, surely it'll work for us. So I wanna

challenge you, give yourself permission to dream. Add images

to your top goals, keep them before your eyes, look at them

consistently and start believing God for them. In fact, just to

help you out, this month I wanna give you chapter one absolutely

free of my book Imagine Big. Now all you have to do is click the

link in the description and I will send you chapter one

completely free, because I wanna help you start imagining. I'm

gonna teach you how to get started. Because most people,

that's what they tell me, "Terri, I don't even know where

to start." Well, I'm gonna walk you through that process and I'm

gonna help you get started. Take advantage of that, chapter one,

click the link into the description and you can get

started visualizing your future. So don't forget, I'm cheering

you on, be sure to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, so

I can keep you motivated to live your dreams.

From the French Riviera, au revoir.

to something good to make it even better.

How we make The Golden Apple: Background design - Duration: 12:02.

Dimitar Petrov Lead Background Designer & Art Director

Boris Stoyanov – Background Designer Denitsa Georgieva – Assistant Background Designer

The pilot episode of The Golden Apple has almost 270 scenes.

The action takes place at 9 different locations.

A total of 140 original backgrounds were designed in 3 months.

How we make The Golden Apple: Background design

Boris Stoyanov Background Designer

Hi, my name is Boris Stoyanov and I'm one of the background designers for The Golden Apple.

My job is to come up with designs for all the backgrounds you'll see in the pilot episode.

The process is really interesting.

When designing the backgrounds for The Golden Apple, we begin by deciding on the main locations for the pilot:

whether we'll have forests or towns, different locations for the action to take place.

We discuss what the main locations would be, and we determine two points of view which work best for us.

We then develop these points of view with the maximum level of detail

so that if we get the opportunity, we can use them later on.

The main goal is to get a general idea of what the backgrounds will look like.

This way, when our characters are at a certain location and we have to come up with, say, 40 backgrounds for it,

we take the main elements of that location and we know that it has this type of trees, grass, bushes, rocks...

So then for all the other backgrounds that belong to this location, we need to have these exact elements.

They are predetermined and specific to every location.

It's very important to know where and how exactly the action takes place

so we know what background elements we should have there.

In this case, for the pilot episode we have 9 locations and they are all totally different.

There are differences in their elements, the overall feel, lighting, colours and anything else you could think of.

Generally, in the city of Khan and in the Samodiva forests, all of the trees have dome-like shapes.

This shape here is really angular, and it looks more like the trees in the Kuker forests.

In this case, the trees have to be rounded. Just a moment, I'll show you what I mean.

I'm just going to finish this so we can get it approved. I think that was the brush we were using, right?

Yeah, that's the brush we're using. It has to look something like this.

After that, we go through the layout phase. This is usually done by a separate team.

They determine camera movements and character positions.

I then receive a list which tells me that in this location we have, for example, 90 scenes, as is the case here.

Now, for these 90 scenes, based on the sketches, I need to determine

where the right background elements should be positioned relative to the action and the characters,

and how all of it would work best.

My job is then, based on these 90 scenes and the overall location,

to start developing new sketches for every single scene.

During this process we discuss where the characters would be positioned, where the special effects would be,

how the composition of certain shots would work best.

If we need to change camera angles or shorten a scene, we discuss it all,

we make the necessary corrections, and we go back and forth until it's complete.

I'm not sure whether it makes sense to put them here.

Why is that?

Because they're on the third plane, the background.

They're on the second, the middleground. Even if they are... this is actually closer to the third.

She is on the foreground, this is plane number two, and this would be three.

There shouldn't be too much detail here, because Tina has a lot of acting in this scene.

This is a very interesting, long, and sometimes even frustrating process,

because we constantly need to think about

how to make our backgrounds as interesting as possible, without overshadowing the characters.

When watching the animation,

our attention should always be focused on the characters and what they are doing.

We might come up with a background that we really like, it could be very nice as a single picture,

but then we place the characters in it, we read through the script,

and for example we might realise that in this particular scene we'll have

a lot of Kuker magic, smoke effects, fog, even a few other elements...

So, we wouldn't even be able to properly see this background.

And second, it would make the scene terribly overcrowded.

We then take this background, we begin to simplify it as much as possible,

in order to see which details we can keep that would work best for the scene.

However, it should also look as good as possible, because if someone pauses at that frame,

they should be able to look at it and go: 'Cool, that looks really nice.'

This phase takes a really long time. Just for the pilot we have over 270 backgrounds.

Something that's very important in animation: We would always try and reuse certain elements.

However, even if you are reusing elements, when you're working on a scene that has over 90 backgrounds in it...

It takes an incredible amount of time.

From there onwards, we move on to colour sketches.

We need to determine the colour script, how the whole episode and each main scene looks in terms of colours.

We then need to build up these colours from the first to the very last scene.

Of course, we won't work through all 270 scenes. We start with around 30 of them.

We then go through different versions. This also takes a long time, because we need to determine

how specific colours would work with a set of actions taking place across 20 to 90 backgrounds.

All background colour schemes need to be consistent,

and we have to determine what works best so that we don't overshadow our characters,

but we also need to make sure we are communicating the emotion that we intended.

So if the scene is slow-paced, if we have something more dramatic taking place,

the colours would be colder, and the atmosphere would be much more oppressive.

But if there is a battle, we go for brighter and bolder colours, there is a lot of movement.

All of this has to be decided when we are creating these colour sketches.

Only after we decide on the colour schemes for all these scenes, we can start colouring the backgrounds.

This is usually the most fun, but also the most time consuming stage of the whole process.

This is because the sketches that we've created based on the layout

need to get all the extra details added.

After that they need to be coloured in and split into different planes.

This means we need to be able to move the front, middle and back planes,

as well as certain elements depending on whether the action requires their presence,

so that we can show some depth and dynamics when the camera moves around the background.

And that's it!

Then we just repeat the whole process another 270 times.

I think it's important to mention that most of us who work for the studio

don't actually work in the studio itself.

We are, after all, a cloud-based studio.

This means that most of us work from our own offices or homes,

so it's crucial to be incredibly organised with our files.

Keep in mind that we go through 4 different stages of design for each of those 270 backgrounds,

and each of them has 2 different versions per stage before it gets approved and finalised.

This means we have an awful lot of documentation, a lot of files that need to be well organised.

We all need to be on the same page about what is happening, where it's happening, and how.

I want to mention here that we have an awesome team,

and they are doing an incredible job with this.

There has never been a moment when I've had to go:

'OK, here are 20 backgrounds. So what am I actually supposed to do with these?

Have I put them in the wrong place? Have I overwritten someone else's work?'

We don't have issues like these, which is amazing.

I am really grateful to our team for being so organised, especially the few people

who really keep the wheels turning.

I think it's also important to mention that I don't create these backgrounds by myself.

What I've told you so far sounds like I sit in a prison cell and draw 24/7, which is not the case.

There are a few of us working on background design.

Everything goes through Dimitar Petrov, our art director. He is responsible for all the big decisions.

I think the most important thing the whole team gets out of our work on The Golden Apple

is how freely we can talk to each other.

There have been plenty of times when I've talked to people in management

about my work on the backgrounds, about what works and what doesn't, according to them.

These are people that don't actually work in animation, people that aren't involved in drawing in any way.

However, our viewers will be people that are exactly like that.

It's not made just for people in our industry who know exactly where to look,

who might have a criticism like: 'This tree shouldn't really be there'.

No, this is for people who will just want to watch and have fun for 10, 20, or 30 minutes, which is great.

So I am constantly seeking comments from all sorts of people in the team.

And I'm very thankful for getting a lot of constructive feedback.

There hasn't been a case when someone has just said: 'Look, I just don't like this – change it'.

This is the scene where she walks to the side right? Yeah, we got rid of that action.

Okay, so the third, background plane... The movement stops...

We'll move the third plane a bit to the left then. I think this would be a bit better.

I don't think it would make too much of a difference, actually.

If we're not moving too many of the elements, this tree isn't really covering any of them up.

Yeah, this looks better. Yup, okay.

One of the things I'm most looking forward to when viewers see my work is...

Well, actually, that's the pilot episode itself. I just want people to see the backgrounds I have made.

There's this moment when you are so deep into what you are doing,

especially if you've been doing the same thing for months,

and you're working on a scene that has action, and, I'd like to emphasise again,

there are 90 backgrounds for that scene...

What you want to see at the end is just how a viewer reacts to the scene.

So far, when we've shown things to people in the team who haven't seen certain backgrounds,

when they see them ordered in a sequence

and just click back and forth to see how the action will take place,

it's the look in their eyes that I enjoy the most.

I like the feeling of having done such a good job,

that someone who isn't involved in the process and doesn't quite understand it,

just looks at the finished product and says: 'That's amazing!'.

It doesn't matter if I feel like I could have done better, what matters is that the person in front of me enjoys it.

And I believe that most of us here at The Golden Apple are like that.

We'd like to thank Lenovo

for the professional ThinkPad X1 Tablet.

How to Eat at a Restaurant While Dieting - Duration: 4:38.

Eating out when you're dieting doesn't have

to be terrible. Today I'm going over my top three tips for how

to stay on track with your weight loss and still go out to

eat. Let's get into it.

hey everybody and welcome back to another episode of Walk with

me. This is Josh here and today we're talking about eating out

while you're losing weight. We've all been there you you're

going about your day. You've got all your meals

planned out already. You get a text from a friend or family

member and they want to go out to eat and you panic.

It can be really stressful if you don't have the tools

and the knowledge but you can actually eat out when you're

losing weight and still enjoy yourself and stay on track.

These are just a few of my tips that I've picked up over

the years that really helped me out in enjoying myself

and staying on track when I'm eating out.

Most restaurants and especially bigger chains will have all

of their nutritional info on their website for you to look

at before you head out to the restaurants. Just take a few

minutes look through them and you look through the calorie

amounts. Figure out what sounds good what fits in your day and

go from there. This is also going to prevent any blunders

where you order the salad because you think it's the last

calories but really it's the same as the burger.

And this is also the time if you're with a group of people

and no one can figure out where to go out to eat have an opinion

look beforehand you know what places what meals work best

for you. So be that leader of the group and make sure and pick

out a place that is going to work.

Most restaurant meals are usually going to be a little bit

higher calorie than what you would cook at home.

So those extra calories are going to need to come from

somewhere. This is super easy if you're eating out early in

the day. Just make sure not to go over for the rest of the day.

Keep it light but usually you're going to go out later in the day

for dinner with friends or something like that.

So you really want to keep calories light for the earlier

parts of the day whether you like to practice intermittent

fasting like I do. That's a really great tool

for this just because you're coming out one more meal.

So it's dividing up more calories into fewer meals.

This means it's a lot easier to work with at a restaurant.

And if intermittent fasting doesn't really work well

for you just cut out some of the carbs and the fat from

your earlier meals in the day. Usually those macros are a lot

higher for restaurant meals so save as many of them as you

can for later when you go out.

This is my favorite tip of the three by far just because

it's so painfully simple. It's pretty safe to assume

that most restaurant meals are probably going to be about

double the calories of what you'd cook at home.

So it's simple you just cut it in half. This works really well

if you have a significant other or a friend that has the same

taste in food as you. Even if that's not the case

what you can do is you can save that other half the meal.

You have some free lunch tomorrow. Personally if I'm

going to go out and not eat my regular food I'd rather have my

burger or whatever food I decide I want to have.

Compared to picking from the healthy menu

or you know it's stuff that you wouldn't normally want to get.

This is something I still utilize every time go out pretty

much. It's rare that I ever finish a meal.

Usually I'm taking at least half of it at home. So in summary

you want to one plan in advance and look at your menus and your

nutritional information beforehand.

two, save your calories for later in the day

or for whenever you're going out to eat eat light on the carbs

and the fat on the other meals throughout your day and three

order whatever you want at the restaurant but cut your meal

and a half. That's going to make sure it fits in your day

that much easier that is going to be it for the tips this week

you guys. It's been a long time since I talked about eating out.

I checked the last video I made and the subject was back in

2016. So I thought it was time for a little bit of refresher,

I've gotten a lot better making videos since then at least

I think so but I'd love for you to leave a comment down below.

What's your best tip for eating out when losing weight.

We can get a good discussion going so everyone can benefit.

And if you do enjoy these tips be sure to like this video

really helps the channel grow. Helps me out a ton and subscribe

if you want to see more I put out new episodes of Walk with me

every Monday. All sorts of other videos up on Fridays But until

next time. I'll talk to you later. Have a good one.

HOW TO DRAW WITH A MOUSE - Duration: 2:03.

So, you want to be a mouse artist?

Well,

if you're too poor to buy a tablet, want bragging rights, or just a masochist, then you're in the right place

Mouse art has gotten a bad reputation over the years, almost becoming synonymous with MS Paint drawings

But mouse art does have the potential to be legitimately good. To give you some examples,

I've drawn with a mouse for a few years now, and my art looks like this:

Even if my art won't convince you, I'm sure there's other artists who will.

Note that this video will not teach you how to draw. If you want tutorials on that,

I have a list for you on Twitter, which I'll put in the description.

Instead, this video will give you some tips I found on how you can use a mouse without it holding you back too much.

First up is the Stabilizer. Some art programs

like Krita have a stabilizer option which lets the cursor drag behind,

which helps avoid the usual shaky lines you get when you try to draw with a mouse.

This can be helpful for doing line art among other things, especially if you don't have a steady hand.

Next up are vectors. If you followed me on Twitter, you've probably seen me yelling about these before.

Vectors are a different kind of way to do art where instead of dealing with pixels, you deal with lines and nodes [and shapes!].

Since this doesn't require you to make sweeping motions, vectors work

well with mice, even allowing you to adjust strokes after creating them.

From my experience, vectors are better for simpler drawings while trying to emulate paintings require lots of unintuitive workarounds,

but I have seen amazing things done with vectors, so don't take my word for it.

There's an entire article I've read that you can check out too, which will be in the description.

And lastly, painting.

Surprisingly, I haven't found many problems with painting with a mouse.

Since my method is starting with big brushes and zooming in for smaller details later on,

I haven't run into the main problem of drawing with a mouse, which is making large sweeping motions with precision.

So if you want to try doing drawings like that, and I don't think you'll need anything special as a mouse user.

But yeah, I want to emphasize that if you want to draw well with a mouse,

you have to know how to draw well in general.

You'll still need to learn art theory, how to shade, and all that fun stuff, and I recommend you start out with traditional art.

But drawing with the mouse IS possible, and tablets aren't completely necessary if you want to do digital art.

So yeah, this video was shorter than I expected, but that should be it, so... see ya.

How esports are exploding in China - Duration: 3:27.

This is esports - competitive professional video gaming.

China, with its education-driven culture, might seem like the last place

where professional gaming could blow up, but it absolutely has

and the big money's already starting to flow in.

Case in point: just a couple of months ago, Google led a $120 million round in Chushou, an esports live streaming service.

Around the same time, ASUS poured $16 million into a new esports venture of its own.

Alibaba, too, has committed to investing over $150 million in Chinese esports.

What are they seeing? A multifaceted market with the potential for a variety of revenue streams,

growing and changing so quickly that it's difficult to even measure its value.

Estimates of the value of China's current esports market range from just a few hundred million dollars to well over a billion.

But it really depends on how you count it.

There's the money that's generated from selling tournament tickets and sponsorships, of course.

And there's ad revenue from event streams.

There are team sponsorships and the cash from things like jersey sales.

And there are in-game sales of esports-related items, like team-branded skins and in-game event tickets.

But it goes way deeper than that.

Many Chinese pro gamers also stream practice games in their free time,

making money through everything from ad impressions to digital gifting to branded snack sales

yes, fans will even buy cookies and crackers from their favorite players.

And there's the revenue generated by internet cafes,

which have experienced a bit of a resurgence as gamers seek a collective experience for their esports fix.

All of these tournaments and streams also work as advertising for the games themselves,

helping drive massive profits as recreational gamers log in and spend money in the same games they watch competitively.

League Of Legends, for example, is a Tencent-owned game that generated over $2 billion in revenue in 2017,

much of it from China where the game is immensely popular.

China's enthusiasm for the game is continually stoked by the highly popular professional League of Legends scene.

At its peak, more than 100 million people were watching last year's World Championship Chinese feed simultaneously.

The value of that kind of exposure is tough to calculate.

But it's not just PC games like LOL - China's also on the bleeding edge of the emerging competitive mobile gaming scene.

Honor of Kings, a LOL-inspired mobile game from Tencent, has tens of millions of daily players in China.

It has an emerging professional scene in the increasingly-popular King Pro League,

and its top players are already attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers whenever they stream.

Indeed, it's mobile esports where companies seem to be expecting the biggest growth.

Google's recent investment, for example, was into a platform that specializes in mobile esports streaming.

So how can you break into China's growing mobile esports scene?

As a game developer, it's tough, because esports games need to attract large player bases quickly to remain viable.

Tencent in particular is powerfully entrenched and has hundreds of millions of existing players to call upon,

so it's tough to beat them at their own game.

Outside investors like Google and Alibaba have thus far shown more interest in investing in platforms and infrastructure

like streaming websites rather than trying to take on Tencent directly with a competing title.

And there's still plenty of room for growth.

Both PC and mobile esports in China are projected to keep growing through at least 2022,

and with hundreds of millions of potential Chinese gamers and esports fans not even online yet,

there's still time to get in on China's esports dream.

Important things are The Purge, The Destiny, Griffin

everything annoying with retire, damage and additional drives.

What else? Any Overlord support. Really, not much more needed.

Thirdly, Royal Paladin.

The "must haves" here are Floral Paladin Flogal,

The Alfred Stride, and Alfred Early V

That's all that makes Blaster Blade Really strong.

Otherwise really simple, Blaster shenanigans and Alfred stuff.

Lastly Nova Grappler, what do we do here?

Honestly, nothing.

Just play Victor in Premium.

Just play Victor.

That concludes my short Standard-to-Premium upgrade guide,

I will keep doing that just like this for the upcoming Sets,

And if you are interested in a particular list for a Clan

write it down in the comments and a Deck Profile is sure to follow
