What is the cause of attachment. Why do we get attached somewhere?

Everybody has got different attachments somebody is so attached to the carrier

he doesn't care for the family, somebody is so attached to the wife he doesn't

care for the carrier, somebody is so attached to money they have bride

burning in India, so much of attachment to money, somebody says "sab bhad mai jaey botal lao"

he is attached to his alcohol. So what is causing attachment?

What is the cause of desire?

Everybody has got different desires sitting listening to the lecture

somebody's mind goes to jalebi somebody's mind goes to chai somebody's

mind goes to the child or the parents in India

everybody's desires are different. What is creating desires within us. Somebody's

desiring money money money somebody's desiring prestige prestige

prestige. What is happening in this inner world that is leading to the creation of

different kinds of desires? again the Geeta, "quoting from Bhagwad Gita"

2.64 Cause of desire is attachment. When the mind is attached to

some object or to some person the attachment of the mind causes desire not

the intrinsic object as such. You see like you may say that you know something

has got a wonderful taste hence it creates desire of course not

Tell me does alcohol have a good taste chi chi Swamiji it causes vomiting to me

but you ask the same question to an alcoholic, who says bad taste

when I go by the pub and I get the whiff of it I start swaying from side to

side. So you say I'll give you a better tasting thing

forget about alcohol I'll give you milk with kesar pista and badam and saffron on

it. I don't want that I want alcohol see he doesn't want just taste he wants that

to which his mind has got attached. Now your mind is attached to your child you

place your child in the lap, you smell the child the child's nose may be flowing

may have done excreta it doesn't matter to you

supposing I say place your nose on your neighbors body for 20 minutes. Swamiji in

the summers he's sweating how can I do that he's foul-smelling. Really your

neighbor is smelling and your child is not smelling? Yea the child should be

smelling I don't know why he's not smelling. Your mind is attached the

attachment has created the desire to hold the child to hear the child to see

the child it is not the intrinsic qualities your child may be beautiful or

ugly that doesn't matter. One mother her child got lost in the

fair, she had gone to you know Anand Bazar Mela and the child got lost. So she

went to the policeman my child has got lost the policeman said mother five

lost-and-found children have been brought see which of them is yours. My

child is not here. Mother how does your child look like? my

child he walks with a limp and his hand is contorted and because of a paralytic

attack his face is twisted and he doesn't have one eye there a pock marks

on his face. CheeChee mother what kind of child are you

desiring? You have seen such beautiful children just pick anyone and feel your

maternal affection. The mother says Mr. policeman are you crazy, I don't want any

of them, I don't want any beautiful child I want my child to whom I am attached

you will never understand a mother's heart. See the mother wants her child to

whom she has got attached so what is creating the desires it's not the

intrinsic qualities of some object it is the attachment of our mind that is what

Lord Krishna stated "quoting from Bhagawd Gita" number one comes attachment , your

mind is attached number two comes desire

number three the fulfillment of desire leads to greed and number four it's

obstruction leads to anger straightforward logic. Now if we are

attached we cannot avoid desire, impossible and if we are not attached

we will not experience desire and everything else will get dismantled

So then desires seems to be caused by attachment. Attachment is the cause of it

all

but what is the cause of attachment? Why do we get attached somewhere? everybody

has got different attachments. Somebody is so attached to the carrier he doesn't

care for the family somebody is so attached to the wife he doesn't care for

the carrier, somebody is so attached to money they have bride burning in India

so much of attachment to money somebody says "sab bhad mai jai botal lap"

he's attached to his alcohol, so what is causing attachment? Okay this is the

important one, it is our own contemplation that causes attachment! See

here is how Shri Krishna begins the link "quoting Bhagawad Gita"

Arjun when you repeatedly contemplate happiness somewhere when you

repeatedly think this will give me happiness

this has got pleasure this will satisfy me, your own repetition of thought

creates the attachment. It doesn't come from the outside

somebody repeatedly contemplated happiness in cigarettes

How did one get attached to cigarettes where you born a cigarette smoker from

the mother's stomach get me the Marlboros otherwise I will

not be happy No then when that boy or girl went to

college and she got some newfound freedom then he saw his friends dangling

cigarettes between the two fingers he said their personality looks very

impressive. His intellect said you know there is happiness in cigarettes so he

tried one and it was a foul experience, he started coughing his eyes became red

his friends instigated no no it'll give you happiness it is giving us happiness

so he kept on contemplating yes there is happiness there is happiness so he

started taking one hiding from the parents sitting in the restroom, under

the staircase and then it increased to two everyday then thr ee everyday and ten

everyday and then it became a link one has got extinguished the second one is

required that has got extinguished the third one is required now a link has got

created. The same cigarette that he first tried out let us see what is there in

this now the cigarette comes into his mind and pinches him, smoke me I will not

let you live in peace. How did this attachment come about by repeatedly

thinking there is happiness there!

Juan 🍎 Has to Accept My Pregnancy or He Can GTFO!!🌶Paola Mayfield - Duration: 4:19.

Time and time again, Paola Mayfield's friend, Juan, has clashed with her husband, Russ.

Juan has made no secret that he objects to their relationship.

So how is he taking the happy news that Paola is pregnant with Russ' baby ?

Paola suggests that it ultimately doesn't matter -- because she's pregnant, and Juan

just has to accept it.

Paola Mayfield tells Us Weekly that she broke the news of her pregnancy to Juan just a day

before it went public.

Pao explains what she said to Juan: "I told him, 'Look, this is gonna happen, so I don't

want you to find out through someone else.'"

That makes sense.

She also describes his reaction: "And he was like, 'I'm about to cry.'"

But ... perhaps not in the way that viewers of 90 Day Fiance might expect.

These were happy tears.

"'Even though I know I'm not a big fan of Russ,'" Paola says that Juan said.

"'This is amazing because I love you and I know what you've been through, so I'm

really happy for you.'"

That is so sweet of him to say!

Paola admits that she was "surprised" by how positive his reaction was, knowing that this

baby will tie her forever to the man whom he believes to be too controlling.

So, will this baby help -- or force -- Juan and Russ to mend fences?

"I want to believe [it will]," Pao says.

"But he has to accept it no matter what."

Juan can't just wish away this pregnancy news -- or her marriage.

Even though he's been trying with the latter.

"There's nothing he can do about it," Paola says very directly.

"And I don't want the negativity around us because we're going to be parents."

So, in other words, she's leery of having him come around.

But she says that she's not banning Juan from visiting.

"I'm not gonna say no," Paola says about a potential visit from Juan.

"But he's definitely going to need to be more respectful if he's gonna wanna hang

around."

More respectful towards Russ.

Or, at least, more polite and less confrontational.

"[He needs to be] more civil, cordial," Pao laments.

"That's all I've asked from him."

Earlier this week, Paola gushed about her pregnancy news.

"This is the most amazing feeling ever!"

Paola announced.

"We can't believe we are going to be parents —-- we are already so in love with our baby."

That is so touching!

"We are ready for this new adventure," Paola said at the time.

"And we know it will bring us closer together."

Which Juan will just have to accept, as she said.

Paola gushed: "God has blessed us again, and this time, we are going as strong as our baby's

heartbeat!"

Of course, just because Juan is totally onboard with Baby Mayfield doesn't mean that everyone

will be.

First of all, both Paola and Russ have plenty of haters.

Some agree with Juan that Russ is too controlling and tries to make Paola conform to his life.

(He's gotten so much better about accepting her career, though)

Others feel that Paola should abandon Miami and her modeling career and worship the feet

of her lord husband (or whatever) and be grateful to live a quiet life in Oklahoma.

For the record, Russ has defended Paola against these trolls.

Finally, there will be another wave of haters with whom Russ and Pao have less experience

-- pregnancy shamers.

Everything from the cereal Paola eats to the size and shape of her baby bump will be given

intense scrutiny by social media commenters.

Ugh.

People with dynamite figures like hers -- and abs for days like hers -- often have smaller

baby bumps.

There are trolls out there who live to tell fitness-oriented women that their wombs will

be crushed by their abs or whatever.

You just have to ignore it.

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners questioned over not buying Hazard or Willian - EXCLUSIVE - Duration: 4:14.

The Gunners have had a busy transfer window this summer following Unai Emery's arrival at the Emirates

Arsenal have completed five signings, with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira all heading to north London

However, the Gunners are rarely in the mix when it comes to breaking the bank for a top player - with club-record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the exception in recent years

And former Arsenal ace Hartson says the Gunners should be in for the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian when these world-class players become available

"In the last few years, Arsenal aren't in for the best players in the world," Hartson exclusively told Express Sport while speaking at the Premier League and BT Disability Football Festival at Manchester City's Etihad Campus

"Why aren't they in for the likes of Hazard or Willian? They won't go and spend the £80m or £90m that City or Liverpool will, like they showed with [Virgil] van Dijk

"Arsenal always miss out, but whether that will change under Emery, I'm not so sure

"When the big world-class players come along, Arsenal miss the boat and don't go in for them

That was the case under [Arsene] Wenger for numerous years. "Arsenal have always been great going forward, they've always had great attack-minded players, the likes of [Thierry] Henry and [Alexis] Sanchez

"Their problem has always been defensively, they've been lame at times. "Per Mertesacker, I felt, Arsene Wenger stuck with him on many occasion when he was getting exposed a lot and costing Arsenal

" Emery is hoping to mount a Premier League title charge this season following his summer spending spree, with Arsenal fully focused on domestic competitions after failing to qualify for the Champions League

However, BT Sport pundit Hartson reckons a top four finish should be the aim for Emery in his first season in England, adding the former PSG boss will be under immense pressure to get results immediately

"I still feel Arsenal are trying to get back into the top four. I don't feel this particular group are title challengers, I don't see it," he added

"I think Emery will need a bit of time but I'm not sure if the Arsenal fans see it that way

There will be big expectations on him. "He's come with a great CV from Sevilla and PSG

He's used to big games, he had fantastic success in the Europa League, but there'll be huge pressure on him with many fans happy to see the back of Wenger

"I don't think he'll get the time, but I think he should. The fans should be patient but they'll expect him to hit the ground running

" John Hartson was speaking at the Premier League and BT Disability Football Festival

Over 180 young people who participate in Club disability sports sessions, funded by the Premier League and BT, attended the event at Manchester City's Etihad Campus

The initiative aims to create opportunities and inspire disabled people through sport, with 23,437 participants engaged since the programme launched in September 2016

their life that they're dedicating their willpower focus energy and time to this

area or again they've been doing it I used to do it a long time ago have that

six eight meals a day training the gym for two hours a day I couldn't do that

anymore and got through life together and now is the time that they're focused

on their health and fitness I wanted to talk about my start lobby guys they seem

about 56 years old and they just like watching these live broadcasts because

it's a inspiration that they can achieve more and I'm really glad that I can

provide that inspiration I really feed off your energy too because if I'm gonna

talk the talk I gotta walk the walk and by me stepping up and doing these live

Rockettes it makes me achieve a higher level to so it's mutual and I love the

energy that goes back and forth in addition to being 56 years old and this

kind of shaping this kind of passion right I won't let you know I started at

27 years old right so I wasn't a young man before I got the whole body building

the systems and the structure than lifestyle down I was 27 years old and

Here I am it's 29 years later and I'm still going a rebirth Ashley right now

after 15 years I'm 15 years removed from competing right and still in this kind

of condition still this passion about training 29 years later I want to tell

you the story about how I started at 27 because I was just

like a lot of people I joined a gym two three times back in those days you

have to pay three hundred five hundred thousand dollars to join a gym it wasn't

the lower entry fee get in like nowadays and I did that two or three times from

just say 20 to 27 and I stopped started I don't know I didn't even probably last

three months and I quit believe it or not like two or three times what's were

all that investment all that time saying I'm gonna do it probably wait it and

then I did it bought the clothes worked out the schedule and then I dropped out

of it for whatever reasons now when I was 27 what the circumstances for me was

that I would moved to a new town for my job a lot of stress with my job I moved

out of my hometown so I was really prime for structure control of a world that

you know by my own choosing to get to the next level there was a lot of

uncertainty and so I lived in this little apartment and I had these weights

but if you guys remember that Montgomery Ward's or was the cement weights with a

plastic right and I had this neighbor he lived the apartment above me he was a

really cool guy handsome guy I just remember being kind of a reclusive cool

guy a nice guy and I always remember that he wanted me to join the gym and I

had you know good genetics right yeah but I didn't really work out didn't know

about nutrition back to those days I thought pizza was the ultimate food he

had something from the bread group the cheese group he'd get it from the meat

group I mean but I looked okay right good genetics but I didn't put any focus

on it right I didn't work out regularly even though I played sports in the past

I remember him talk to me said you know you got good biceps but your children to

small and your calves they're not develop

I remember go on like do people look at it I just it was strange

it was like you know do people look at other people's bodies this way

really strange to me I wasn't into the culture at all of bodybuilding training

working out but he was and he really wanted me to join this gym and you know

I wasn't interested I told my I got my weights I had my weights on my little

apartment porch right he said you know you really should join a gym because

your body this that and other thing I just thought it was strange but he was

really persistent about it too right and I said no no no and I finally just said

yes all right and we went on this five and six day a week schedule where I just

shadowed him at the gym he knew what to do he wasn't he was really in shape

obviously he knew what he was doing working out he'd probably did it for a

long time and he just guided me through the workouts I just followed him I

really didn't think too much about it at all right he just did what he told me to

do I just went after him we did the same exercises all the time

they all we split him up in body parts so each Monday was same Tuesday was the

same Wednesday was same Thursday Friday Saturday right so all I had to worry

about was following him and just learned the exercises and pushed the weight

here's the funny thing is that we probably did that for three months

straight this same exact exercises and he had to do this trip this trip back

home whatever and so I loved the working out I got into the habit and I went to

the gym and I wasn't a young guy either I was like 27 years old and I didn't

know what to do it all it was like I lost my guide and I wasn't really paying

attention to the exercise even though I did the same things over and over again

right my mind was just focused on my performance about getting there about

staying motivated execution and like I said I was lost I remember at that time

I really didn't sets reps well okay what does that mean and here's the thing what

a blessing that was that I could get off to a good start I could just contrary

was in a way I was doing and I had a guide that could just show me all the

the thinking was done for me now three months later I didn't know what the heck

I was doing because I remember it I which was silly because I

did the same things over and over again now here's the funny thing I don't know

his name was Greg I didn't know him very much

I just knew him from the apartment complex I never talked to him you know

after that you know we didn't we didn't become good friends like I said he was a

reclusive kind of guy it's kind of funny because he's a handsome guy and he made

the mistake of that dating the girl downstairs and every time he came home

he was a really private guy and she would hear him come home because he

lived right on top of her so she would know exactly when he got home and she'd

run up that was the worst decision I ever made because I can't even I like my

time alone and she always comes up but anyway I don't know what happened to

Greg he moved probably six or eight months I

don't know I wonder if he knows what impact I wonder if he knows that 29

years later I'm doing because he was so persistent for whatever reasons to get

me to join the gym I still have no idea why that was so important to him but it

was so great it was a great start I had a mentor I had a coach so there wasn't

so many variables going on and that's why that time after three attempts it

stuck for 29 years and Here I am that's the importance of a good start that's

the important if you're coming back into it and you're a little bit older of a

good restart hey I want to be that for you for Greg like Greg was to me I want

to help you cut down on all the variables too many variables going on

Right Wing Pastor Warns: Stop Talking About Trump's Affairs Or Face God's Wrath! - Duration: 3:19.

Right wing evangelical pastor Franklin Graham, the son of the late Billy Graham has some

advice for those in the media who keep talking about Donald Trump and his affairs with porn

stars and Playboy playmates.

He says that if you continue to talk about these things and talk about the payoffs that

he made, then you are going to feel God's wrath.

That's right.

According to Franklin Graham, God is getting super pissed about all of us talking about

how horrible Donald Trump is, what a womanizer he is, the potentially illegal activity he

engaged in to cover all this up.

That makes God mad, so sayeth Franklin Graham.

Not the acts themselves, God's totally cool with that, probably would high five Donald

Trump if he got the chance, right Franklin?

But no, it's the people talking about it, trying to make it an issue.

We're the problems and we're the ones who should fear God's wrath.

Here's a couple of tweets that Mr. Franklin Graham sent out recently explaining this.

"Everyone in the media is talking about the just released tape and what the president

said or didn't say.

What he meant or didn't mean.

It is a good moment to point out that everyone should realize that every word that is spoken

or thought is recorded by God."

God's basically a much more powerful version of Michael Cohen, I guess.

He continues, "The Bible said it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment.

We won't be judged by media spin masters or forensic audio analysts, but you will be judged

by truth and righteousness by God himself.

Have you ever thought about what his verdict will be on your words?"

I would hope, personally, that God would say to me, "Hey, good job calling out those in

power who are screwing over those without power."

That's pretty much what the entire Bible was all about and thank you for actually doing

what the Bible said.

Now I may not be out there feeding the poor or helping the sick right now, but I am trying

to educate, as are most members of the media.

Some of them are in it for the profits, some of them are in it for the glory and the fame

and the narcissism that they have inside.

But most of us just want to expose the rampant corruption that's happening here in the United

States.

But I have a question for you, Mr. Graham.

If you have indeed read the Bible, you know that the one thing that pisses God off more

than anything is false prophets.

You know, and that's exactly what you are.

You're a charlatan.

You're a liar, you're a hypocrite because you were very, very interested in Bill Clinton's

sex life in the 1990s.

But now suddenly it's off limits when we're talking about even more illegal activity than

what Bill Clinton did?

These evangelicals have no ground to stand on anymore.

They have no credibility whatsoever and anyone in this country that believes a word that

Billy Graham, or Franklin Graham, excuse me, any one of these assholes out there has to

say, is absolutely following these false prophets straight to hell.

Plane Crash Survivors - FACT or FICTION - Duration: 13:55.

Human survival has its limitations.

We are vulnerable creatures made of flesh and blood, and there are horrifying circumstances

that we mere mortals are just not designed to withstand.

Or so we're led to believe.

Plane crashes have claimed thousands of lives since the dawn of aviation, and the odds of

living through a fiery crash from 35,000 feet are incredibly slim.

But, every once in a while there are survivors who live to tell their unbelievable version

of events.

Do the following three tales prove that some humans have the strength to survive certain

death, or are they fictional tales of pure luck that never took place?

Can you decide between what's fact.. or fiction?

The line that divides the factual from the unreal has long since blurred, the tales we

once thought fantastical now implanted as truth.

To decipher verity from the imagined, you must break from the ordinary and consider

a universe where the outlandish prevails.

Can you expand your mind to see beyond our perceived reality?

Can you decide what's fact or fiction?

Being a flight attendant is many people's dream career path.

It brings to mind a lifestyle of worldwide travel and endless glamour, but as Anastazie

Alovik soon found out, it can sometimes mean fighting to survive a terrorist attack and

an unbelievable fall.

Story # 1: A Fall From 33,000 Feet 22-year-old Anastazie's had dreamed of being

a flight attendant ever since her best friend landed a job.

She had also recently traveled to the UK - driven by her love of The Beatles.

So, of course, Anastazie further reasoned that a flight attendant job might allow her

to visit her beloved England more often.

Her ambition paid off, and in 1971 she joined the ranks at JAT Airways, Yugoslavia's largest

airline.

Little did she know, it would only be a year before her highs were met with lows.

It was an icy cold January afternoon when flight 349 departed from Stockholm, Sweden,

with stopovers planned in Denmark and what is now Croatia.

Their flight departed Copenhagen Airport as scheduled at 3:15 pm.

Just 46 minutes later, an explosion ripped through the baggage compartment of the DC-9

aircraft.

Believed to be a briefcase bomb, the fireball was so powerful that it tore the plane apart

in mid-air.

Of the 28 passengers and crew on board, Anastazie would go on to be the sole survivor.

She was found in the wreckage screaming, her turquoise uniform dripping in blood.

Although alive, she suffered horrific injuries, including two broken legs, a fractured skull

and pelvis, several broken ribs and three broken vertebrae which caused temporary paralysis.

She then spent several days in a coma and remembered nothing of that fateful day after

greeting passengers boarding the plane; she only learned of the crash two weeks later

when a doctor showed her a newspaper headline, which caused her so much distress that she

had to be tranquilized.

Her death-defying survival in the face of certain death shocked the world and was front

page news.

Perhaps the weirdest part of all, her survival can be attributed to a food cart that trapped

her in the fuselage and her low blood pressure that caused her to immediately pass out.

Humans are resilient creatures, and the state of shock and fear can sometimes allow us to

survive rather impossible situations - but are we really strong enough to survive a fall

from such a height?

Surviving a crash while a pilot is attempting to land is one thing - but to live through

a 33,000-foot free-fall, trapped in only a small section of a plane?

Is that possible?

We want to hear what you think, so let us know in the comment section and be sure to

vote using our on-screen poll.

Next, we're taking a trip to the Indian Ocean to introduce you to 12-year-old Klaire

Lakari, an incredible young girl whose determination led to the survival of an unimaginably terrifying

ordeal.

Story # 2: Horror in the Deep Blue Sea When Klaire and her mother set off from Paris

for a summer vacation in the Comoros Islands near Madagascar, neither of them dreamed that

their day would end in a cruel and punishing fight for survival.

On that fateful day, June 30th 2009, Klaire and her mother were full of excitement as

they set off on what was to be the holiday of a lifetime.

As they boarded Yemenia Flight 545, they chatted excitedly about their trip and all of the

things they wanted to do together during their idyllic island escape.

Sadly, they would never have the chance to live out their plans.

At 1:50 am during the descent into their final destination, something went terribly wrong.

The plane smashed into the ocean just nine miles north of the coastline.

The aircraft broke up as it hit the water at full speed, and Klaire was thrown out into

the unforgiving waters.

Without a lifejacket or the ability to swim, Klaire was certain to perish as she floated

alone in the shark-infested waters of the Indian Ocean.

She clung to a makeshift raft - a piece of the doomed aircraft's fuselage - for more

than nine hours, drifting in the pitch black ocean.

She was certain that if the waters didn't claim her, the sharks within it would.

The cries and moans of other survivors quickly turned to silence, and Klaire was left alone,

floating aimlessly.

152 people on board the Airbus A310 perished, but somehow, Klaire only suffered from a fractured

pelvis and collarbone, burns and some minor facial injuries.

After being picked up by a passing boat, Klaire had to be convinced that she just survived

a plane crash.

Still in a deep state of shock, she thought that she had fallen from the plane after pressing

her forehead too hard against one of its windows.

How can a child who cannot swim survive for 9 hours in the Indian Ocean, after surviving

a plane crash?

Clearly, this tale is too fantastical to be true, right?

Then again, if we've learned anything from this series, it's that Fact is often stranger

than Fiction.

Let us know what you think in the comment section right now and don't forget to vote

using the on-screen poll.

Before we get into the reveal, we have one last high altitude horror story to share with

you.

People fly for business every day, and for some, taking a flight is akin to taking a

bus or a train.

Nobody ever thinks that a routine flight to see a business contact will lead to a terrifying

three day battle for survival in the unforgiving Vietnamese jungle - but for Sangmin Park,

that is exactly what happened.

Story # 3: Jungle Survival 45-year-old Sangmin Park was well adjusted

to taking flights from his home city of Seoul in South Korea.

As a business owner, he often had to travel around the world to visit clients, investors

and stakeholders, and that fateful day of October 21st 1998 was no different.

Booked onto an early morning flight to Singapore, Sangmin made his way to the airport thinking

about the meeting he was to have that evening with a potential new investor.

He boarded the Boeing 737 plane along with 188 other crew and passengers, and they set

off on what should have been a casual 7-hour flight.

The journey of Korean Air flight KE 694 had been completely smooth until, at roughly 9:53am,

a section of the aircraft's fuselage suddenly blew out, creating a gaping hole in the side

of the plane.

Four passengers were immediately sucked out and the plane began to descent uncontrollably

from 30,000 feet.

The plane came down in a ball of fire in the Vietnamese jungle, breaking up as the captain

tried valiantly to come down through the dense trees as smooth as possible.

As sections of the plane broke apart, Samgmin's row of seats became loose, sending two fellow

passengers and himself crashing through the jungle canopy, still strapped in with their

seatbelts.

The fauna helped break their fall, eventually landing upside down on the jungle floor.

With a badly broken arm and lots of painful cuts and bruises, Sangmin freed his seatmates;

both of which, sadly, weren't as lucky as him..

There Samgmin was, by himself, physically broken and at the mercy of mother nature.

Seeing a thick plume of smoke a short distance away, Samgmin decided to trek the woods to

see if there were any other survivors.

It wasn't an easy adventure in his condition, but he managed, eventually stumbling upon

the bigger part of the wreckage.

After a quick search, Samgmin's efforts seemed to be fruitless.

He began to break down, sobbing and unaware of what to do next.

And then, miraculously, a blood-curdling cough could be heard from the cockpit.

Samgmin violently dug through the wreckage, hands covered in blood as he ripped away at

the sheet metal.

Then, there he was - the captain.

He was unconscious, but alive, desperately clenching onto life while still making mayday

calls.

To Samgmin's surprise, there was actually someone on the other end.

Taking the radio, Samgmin was able to better explain what happened and where they were.

The two would sit together until help would arrive about 45 minutes later, but by then,

Samgmin would be alone.

When first responders landed, Samgmin was still holding onto the hands of the pilot,

silently saying "thank you".

Was there a greater force looking out for Samgmin that day?

Is it a coincidence that the pilot stayed alive just long enough to help Samgmin with

a distress call?

Or, maybe, this story was a product of our own imaginations?

Let us know what you think about our jungle tale in the comment section below, and don't

forget to vote now using the on-screen poll.

Are you ready to find out if you can decipher between fact or fiction?

Let's look back at tonight's three stories and find out which were born from reality

and which were fabrications of the imagination.

Let's go back to Anastazie Alovik, our flight attendant who lived through a fall from over

30,000 feet.

Do you think she really could have survived such an incredible fall?

If you said yes… then it might be possible that you've read the Guinness World Book

of Records.

This true tale was inspired by Vesna Vulović, a Serbian flight attendant who holds the record

for the highest freefall without the aid of a parachute.

Until her death in 2016, Vulović remained tight-lipped about the incident and shunned

her celebrity status.

Can you go two for two and guess whether Klaire Lakari really survived a crash that killed

over 150 others?

If you said no.. then you'd be wrong.

This shocking story of survival is completely true.

Bahia Bakari was named the "miracle child" by the media after she was deemed to be the

sole survivor of the deadliest airplane crash in an ocean.

So how about our third story about Sangmin and his adventures through the jungle?

Although it's entirely possible, our version of events was completely penned up by our

own writers.

How well did you do in tonight's video?

Did you look past the deception of our world and define the oft-blurred line that struggles

to separate lies from the truth?

Let us all know in the comment section below and should you find the urge to test your

perceptions again, be sure to subscribe and join us next time when we ask you to decide

what's fact... or fiction.

Will Amazon Help or Hurt its Next Hometown? | AJ+ - Duration: 11:07.

Apple, Amazon, and Google:

They get you your phones, your packages and, well, allow you to search weird things on the internet.

But these companies are all synonymous with one other thing: jobs.

Lots and lots of jobs!

But what's the economic, social and political impact of thousands of people

moving into a town to work for one company?

Hi guys, I'm Omar, and this Sunday we're looking at how cities try to attract big companies

- and how that can sometimes help and sometimes hurt the people who live there.

OK, so in case you haven't heard,

Amazon – led by the richest man in modern history, Jeff Bezos,

has been on the hunt for a second corporate headquarters, otherwise known as HQ2.

And, well, despite being a somewhat open process it's been..

one hot mess, to put it bluntly. This is only the sixth big public auction in US history.

It provoked 238 bids, including many from places that don't have a prayer,

that did not meet the original criteria."

If you're wondering why so many cities applied to host Amazon's second headquarters,

it's because, well, it potentially means tens of thousands of new high-paying jobs.

It also means five billion dollars to

local companies who will be charged with building the structures, hiring people

who will then get paid, and contribute to small businesses across the city.

All-in-all, HQ2's presence could really help the economic growth of the winning city.

By its own projection, Amazon added $38 billion in value to the Seattle economy.

This year, Amazon narrowed its list of finalists down to

20 cities, which included Boston, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles, Columbus and Miami.

These cities have tried to attract Amazon by flaunting

their modern transportation systems and available housing infrastructure,

as well as their cultural, educational and financial institutions.

Some cities like Boston have even reimagined entire neighborhoods to make way for HQ2.

Check out this video that Boston submitted with its bid:

Sounds great, right? Except Amazon might be looking for a whole lot more than that,

in the form of tax incentives from those competing cities.

They've been told that you need to offer long-term,

deep tax discounts, property-tax abatements

sales-tax exemptions, income-tax credits

companies are like people, they, they pay

three main kinds of taxes - income sales and property, and in many cases,

especially for big deals, those taxes all go away for a long time.

So you might think, "Wow, Amazon's pretty ballsy to expect all of that."

Well, Amazon's gotten a lot from his years in Seattle, allowing it to become the second

most valuable company in the world at $768 billion just this year.

But while Amazon's fortunes have been on the rise, the same can't be said for its hometown.

Despite Amazon investing nearly 40 million dollars in housing for Seattle

the city has seen the cost of housing skyrocket.

Since 2010, more than a 100 people a day

have been moving to the city and the surrounding area.

In the last five years, housing prices have shot up by 70%,

with median rent in Seattle hitting $1,448 in 2016,

coming in at fifth overall nationwide.

And despite the increase of thousands of high-paying jobs in the city,

the rate of homelessness has increased by close to 50 percent between 2011 and 2017.

"I got, you know, economically zero unemployment in my city and I got thousands of

homeless people that actually are working and just can't afford housing."

So, that's what's been happening in Seattle and now Amazon is looking for incentives

in the next city it moves to.

Oh, and by the way, Amazon does not receive any tax

incentives from Seattle. It's only there because it was founded in the city and

maybe the fact that Washington state doesn't have any kind of income tax.

We know that two bids, three bids exceeded $7 billion,

from St. Louis, Newark and Montgomery County, Maryland.

And this is gonna be perhaps the biggest subsidy deal in U.S. history.

It may rival the $8.7 billion deal that Washington state gave Boeing five years ago.

And these incentive deals are actually pretty common.

States and cities will often throw this kind of money at big companies.

Like Ohio's $120 million to GE between 2007 and 2011.

And Wisconsin's $3 billion subsidy deal that went to electronics manufacturer Foxconn.

And that's just a drop in the bucket for these

types of deals between companies and local governments across the U.S.

Studies have shown that the total amount of

subsidy deals for corporations could be worth anywhere between $45 and $90 billion.

The rate at which these deals are made has also tripled since the 1990s.

But this phenomenon goes way back.

"The history of incentives goes back to the late 1930s.

Mississippi created the first program intentionally designed to

lure companies from the Midwest and from the Northeast.

The whole system really took off, especially after World War II,

when the interstate highway system got built starting in the 1950s.

And by 1976, there was a cover article of

Businessweek talking about the "second war among the states" -

that is the war for jobs."

Naturally, these deals have generated much controversy over the years.

And in 2006, the Supreme Court overturned an Ohio court's ruling that

said such deals were unconstitutional.

We don't have a federal industrial policy

to rein in the states from spending excessively in these chases or from

actively pirating for each other.

When free trade deals were being made left and right

in the 80s and 90s, and factory after factory either shut down or moved abroad,

many cities and states sought to attract other industries for their work forces.

Enter: the tech industry.

As tech took off in the U.S. in the 2000s,

local and state governments started to compete once again to woo these companies to

replace the long-gone factories.

And sure, a lot of big tech companies have their

home base in Silicon Valley, but they've also opened up data centers to store

the immense amount of data that they generate.

27 states have created incentive programs

to bring in these tech data centers.

And a report found that Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple and Amazon

have received $2 billion in subsidies for 11 data centers in the past decade.

So with that much money being

spent by taxpayers to build data centers left, right and center, you'd hope that

there'd be a lot of jobs as a result, right?

Well, the study also found that

these data facilities only employ under 200 people on average and these states

had spent roughly $2 million per job created.

We can point to examples

of incentives that have worked and usually those are programs that don't

benefit one program hugely, but instead target a whole industry.

But while it's possible for a local government

and the dominant industry to work together to

better a city or a state, there's still the question of over reliance on a

single industry.

Take Detroit, for example.

For about 70 years Detroit was the home

of the American auto industry but when international competition grew, it became

more expensive for the industry to remain in Detroit with the numbers it

had in manufacturing and employment.

As the auto industry started to leave Detroit,

the city's economy collapsed.

Today, the once thriving city is a shell of its former self.

But the state of Michigan wasn't quite done enticing the

auto-industry.

Ford, GM and Chrysler were awarded tax credits worth

$4.5 billion on the condition they keep 86,000 jobs

in Michigan through 2032.

By 2015, Michigan was facing a $289 million budget

shortfall for the tax credits it had largely offered to the auto-industry

over the previous 20 years.

$289 million - does Flint even have clean water yet?

"If we pick smartly and pick companies that have a future, we can grow the whole

industry over time, and also increase the likelihood that the

companies will stay put in that area, because they see value in being tied to

the local university, the local training program."

So, given how little so many cities and states across America

often get out of the presence of these

massive companies, many of them have started fighting back - including Seattle.

Last year, Seattle proposed what was called

an "Amazon Tax" that would see Amazon taxed $275

for each employee - something that they could have easily afforded.

While the tax was not completely aimed at

Amazon, the tech giant was certainly the main target.

The city council unanimously passed the resolution.

But only a month later as the City Council faced intense

pressure from Amazon and business leaders in the city,

it was forced to repeal the resolution.

"I don't think head taxes are the best way to approach this deal. I think that

you have to have a comprehensive approach.

We know how to do this -

it's called community-benefits agreements."

But the idea of an employee head tax

is popular far beyond Washington state.

About 43 miles from our San Francisco studio in Mountain View,

where close to 40% of the workforce is employed by Google,

there's a proposal for what some have called the "Google tax."

And we decided to go talk to the mayor of Mountain View – this guy, Lenny Siegel –

who helped introduce the proposal for the new tax that would make companies

like Google pay a head tax for every employee.

Mayor Siegel's lived in Mountain View since 1972.

And while he's seen it change a lot, its core culture he says hasn't.

"Before Google was in Mountain View, Mountain View was a thriving tech center.

We're actually the birthplace of Silicon Valley.

There's been a gradual transition in Silicon Valley away from physical manufacturing

to software and services, and Google is one of the companies that represents that."

The tax which isn't officially called the Google tax, by the way, would

charge all companies in Mountain View a tax per employee, based on the size of the company.

That yearly tax revenue could amount to over three million

dollars, almost half of which would be coming from Google.

And for perspective,

right now all businesses in Mountain View pay a yearly $30 flat fee,

regardless of size. That brings in about $250,000 to the city.

Now, it's worth noting that Mountain View never offered any incentives to Google.

Instead, because of the pre-existing knowledge from the semiconductor

business and NASA, Google was attracted to the city.

But why does Mountain View need this extra tax?

"So, it's a problem for our communities and, in fact, a

problem for our employers.

Housing here is extremely expensive.

The value of my house has gone up maybe by 20 times since I bought it in 1972.

And we don't have transit, other than Caltrain to get people to work."

And the mayor's not worried about alienating companies with this tax,

because he knows that the lack of affordable housing is

scaring away potential employees.

"The tax that we're proposing is so small compared to the payroll of any of the

companies that are here, that we don't think it'll have any negative impact on

their plans to continue doing business or even to expand here."

So, is this what our fiscal future looks like -

stuck between bad incentive deals and coaxing companies into paying their fair share?

"There may be times where incentives will

work, but by and large, the best way to it, create a sustainable business community,

is to focus on education, to focus on the quality of life, to protect the environment,

make it a place where people want to live."

And for companies like Amazon, that might be prime advice.

Sorry about that guys.

Don't forget to like, share and subscribe.

And come back next week for another great video.

The ONE THING That Makes Or Breaks Your TRIATHLON BIKE TIME - Duration: 7:22.

- [Taren] Morning, trainiacs, group bike ride today,

and then after, we're gonna talk

about the one thing that is critical

to becoming a very serviceable bike rider in triathlon.

Admittedly, ya might not like the answer,

unless you're a real badass.

(tire spokes click) (rhythmic electronic music)

Oh, that was good, that was good.

It is a 48K ride, hard.

Average power 156, normalized power 219.

Hard, slow down, hard, slow down.

Four sprint sections, but today, it's rest week,

so I only did two of the sprint sections,

one of which I took down very decisively,

second one, rookie move,

shoulda taken it down very decisively,

however, I celebrated about 30 feet

before the finish line as somebody passed me

that I didn't think was there.

Good job, Taren, (claps slowly) good job.

So, the key to cycling fast is forwards,

time in the saddle.

It's a double-edged sword,

but allow me to explain, after I get off

this awesome little get-up that I'm wearin'.

So fashionable.

So yes, trainiacs, the one thing that is going

to make or break you triathalon bike time

is as simple as time in the saddle.

Are you putting out enough time on the bike

to get faster?

Biking is not like swimming.

If you come from a swimming background,

you can probably get away with maybe just swimming

once a week, if at all, and still

do quite well in the race.

Running, as I've proven this year,

if, let's say you're very susceptible

to injury like I am, you can still back way off

of running and lean on strength training,

brick runs that are quite short, little bit of hill work,

and a lot more quality over quantity.

But even if you have a background as a cyclist,

if you back way off of the bike training,

you aren't going to have a very good race.

As far as I can tell, there are really no hacks in cycling.

It's not like you can really cheat your way

into being a good cyclist.

You need to be biking at least three times a week,

and I'm going to tell you why.

Number one: you need that long endurance ride

building your way up to 100 kilometers plus,

and that's even for an Olympic distance event.

You want to get yourself to a point that you can bike

the course distance without issue.

That's where over-distance rides come in.

You also want to work on building your top end of speed

with another completely separate workout,

where all you're doing is going really really intense

for as little as ten seconds, as much as ten minutes.

Now also, you want to add another bike in there

sometime during the week just to keep those bike legs fresh.

With one workout a week, you're not going

to be progressing a ton unless you're in your first year

or two of triathlon, where you can basically just sneeze

and all of a sudden you get fitter, but beyond that,

one workout a week isn't really even maintenance.

Two workouts a week, basically maintenance,

but once you add that third workout a week,

you're not going any longer than three days

at any one time if you're spacing them out well.

And that is keeping the muscle memory going

and the blood flow moving so that every single week,

you're progressing because you're not letting

your body to stagnate and get a little bit gunky

and not progress on the bike, so in my case,

I'm biking probably about as little as I would want to,

but about as purposeful as I would want to.

Tuesday, this morning, really friggin' intense ride.

Sunday, really really long ride, going way beyond

how long I'm going to go in a race, upwards of 145K.

Friday is just that light one hour easy spin,

around 100 watts that I'm using for recovery,

and it's another chance to get time in the saddle.

The results?

Personal best in the 90K bike ride

at half IRONMAN Coeur d'Alene,

on a fairly tough bike course with a lot

of elevation change and I ran well after.

These are the things that I'm incorporating

in the workouts, of the new team training platform,

if you're interested in this, the more I talk about it,

go to triathalonteran.com/teamwaitlist.

You're not paying anything at that point,

you're just putting yourself on an email list

to know when things happen and they come out

and are made available.

How I'm building the workouts is with a lot

of quality over quantity, because I know

everyone is really busy, so it's basically

what is the minimum effective dose

that we can get away with

and how can we design workouts

to be really efficient, so that all of us busy trainiacs

can get as fast as possible with still making

our wives and husbands and children happy with us.

Now, that said, it's just about four o'clock,

I'm gonna get in a quick run before NTK gets home,

okay, shhh, let's make this quick.

Montage from the day of training, now.

(fast-paced house music)

And we end the day off with just a beauty, 12 minute run.

No fancy pace, but I did three times, 30 seconds

of big bounding strides, 30 seconds of regular easy running,

30 seconds of fast feet, do those three times

in that 12 minutes, that is a recovery run.

Alright triathlon trainiacs, if you aren't already

subscribed, hit the subscribe button below

and if you are subscribed, you're the best.

You, are the best.

You, I mean you. Later.

Feeling sad, angry or overwhelmed about whats going on in the world? - Duration: 4:40.

Hey! What's up!

Jeremy Mentz here and I wanted to shoot this quick video - Maybe you're like me and the

majority of Americans who are feeling sad, overwhelmed, angry, broken down by what's

going on in our country and in the world today.

This migrant family situation, the government missed their deadline to reunite these families

seeking asylum.

You may be wondering to yourself, What ever happened to the America we once knew.

The "Give me your tired, your weary, your broken hearted, those

longing to be free"

We're not living our values.

And I turn on the news and things that our government is doing and people in positions

of power are doing are just irresponsible.

They don't represent the kind of America that I thought we were living in and that I want

to live in.

And it's time to do something about it.

My wife and I emptied our savings account to start a foundation called "The Maple+Twig Foundation"

because we want to use our time and our resources and our energy here on earth

to do something and to bring about a positive change.

So we are starting a scholarship fund for Migrant children, the ones that have been

separated at our border and are here and might be separated indefinitely.

I want to help give them access to a quality education and I think it's important to identify

what our values are.

And to voice our values.

And to live by our values.

And education is something that is really important to my family.

Health care is also pretty important to my family and so we're going to do something

about that too.

And entrepreneurship is something that is pretty important to my family too and I want

to teach other people how to start businesses.

Because I think that that's a driving force in our economy and of our country.

Families.

Families are important.

Treating people with kindness and respect are important and so my wife and I are starting

this Foundation to bring about some positive change in the world.

To do something, to put our time and our energy to good use.

And we're getting ready to launch it.

And I wanted to tell you about it because maybe you're like us.

Maybe you're looking around in the world and you're seeing all of this stuff and you're

wanting to get involved.

You're tired of being angry and just being on the internet and reading stories you don't

know what to do.

I want to give and create opportunities for Americans to get involved and for people like

you and us to make a difference and to DO something with our time and energy and money.

And to see actual change happen.

Positive change.

So that's why we started this.

I'm posting a link below you can jump in on the early bird and be one of the

Founding Members - and we set it up.

You can donate as little as $3 or $10,000.

It doesn't make a difference because it's the attitude of the heart that matters.

There's a story in the bible about the woman who gave her last talent, her last little

piece of silver and that was equally and even more valuable than the man who made a big

show of dumping a bunch of change into the donations jar.

It doesn't make a difference to us.

Everyone when is equal when it comes to your contribution because you're HUMAN.

Whether you can give $3, you can give $10,000, you can give $1M or you can't give anything

right now - you can share this.

YOU have a contribution that you can give to the world and the world NEEDS you.

I'm glad that you're here.

I'm glad that you're watching this.

Don't give up hope.

There is hope.

There are good people doing good things here.

And together, lets make a difference.

Thanks for being here.

Thanks for watching this.

Talk to you soon.

Scooters: Sidewalk Nuisances, Or The Future Of Local Transportation? - Duration: 5:38.

Scooters: Sidewalk Nuisances, Or The Future Of Local Transportation?

When Adam Stephens walked into his office in Milwaukee one morning in late June, he found messages complaining about the Birds.

The deputy city attorney was not amused.

He went for a walk.

"Within a couple of minutes, I found one parked on a sidewalk and was able to visually examine it and kind of figure out what it was," Stephens says.

Bird is the name of an electric scooter company.

Unannounced, it dropped off somewhere between 70 and 100 rental scooters throughout Milwaukee, where it's illegal to ride motorized scooters in public.

Here's how it works: You download an app, put in your credit card information, and locate a scooter near you.

It's about $1 to unlock them, and then 15 cents a minute.

You can pretty much drop them off anywhere.

And that's part of the problem: People have been leaving them all over city sidewalks.

"You have elderly people, you have people with disabilities, you have the visually impaired who rely on seeing eye dogs," Stephens says.

In recent months, the hashtag #ScootersBehavingBadly has popped up, featuring scooters across the country parked in pedestrian walkways or riders speeding through while wearing headphones.

Milwaukee issued a cease-and-desist order, but Bird refused.

The case is now in federal court.

Things have gone sour in several cities, like San Francisco and St.

Paul, Minn., where scooter companies have been kicked out.

But in some cities, they've flourished, like in Washington, D.C., where I took a scooter by the brand Spin out for a ride.

It was fun, and a bit terrifying, to weave through rush-hour traffic.

On the way, I met a fellow rider, Octavion Carter.

He uses these to get around Howard University and gave me some advice: "Watch the ground, because if you go over a crack or a pothole, you might fall.

It happens to everybody.".

There are about 1,200 electric scooters for rent in Washington.

These companies have a few months to prove their worth.

Luz Lazo, a transportation reporter at The Washington Post, says some people are annoyed by the trend.

Still, she says, in a city where public transportation is notoriously unreliable, enough people are frustrated to give it a try.

Lazo sees people of all backgrounds scooting around.

"Whether it's something that is going to last, or be a success, I mean we still have to wait and see," she says.

Will the scooter, skateboard's goofy-looking cousin, be another fad, just like Segways or hoverboards? Big tech doesn't think so.

Silicon Valley is betting on the future of micro-transportation.

Uber recently invested in the scooter company Lime; and Lyft has announced it will soon be offering scooters on its app.

As I ride back through D.C.

on my rental, with the wind in my face, one thing becomes clear: It's fun, but there's no way I'm doing it in the winter.

This 20-minute, garlicky-ginger chicken stir-fry can go mild or wild - Duration: 5:02.

Overview Ingredients Steps Overview Americans' taste for spicy and hot foods seems to be on the uptick

But when you possess a sensitive palate or digestive tract, or you are cooking for someone who does, a flexible recipe — and healthful! — that tastes good at both mild and wild ends of the spectrum makes things easy

This stir-fry is a pantry-friendly way to go. Its classic ginger-garlic combination gives the dish enough flavor on its own; as soon as the green beans are warmed through, you can serve a portion as is

For those who can take the heat, your subsequent add-in options are many: a squirt of Sriracha, a dash of sweet chili sauce, hot sauce or chili-infused honey or a sprinkling of crushed red pepper flakes among them

[Stock your kitchen with the Dinner in Minutes pantry] Bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs are called for here because they are in the Dinner in Minutes Pantry (new item included in this recipe: fresh ginger!)

They are less expensive than boneless, skinless thighs and you will be able to stockpile bones and skin for making wonderful things like chicken soup and fried chicken skins

But if you already have the latter on hand, you will save a step. Serve with rice or rice noodles

You can chop up any leftovers for making fried rice. Ingredients 8ouncesfrozen green beans 3 or 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs 1/2 medium onion 2clovesgarlic 1 1/2-inch piece fresh ginger root 2tablespoonsvegetable or grapeseed oil 2teaspoonslow-sodium soy sauce or more as needed 1⁄2cupwater 1⁄2cuppacked fresh basil leaves Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper Hot sauce (optional) Crushed red pepper flakes (optional) Steps Step 1 Place the green beans in paper towel so they defrost a bit

Step 2 Pull the skin from the chicken; freeze or discard it. Use a sharp knife to cut the flesh away from the bone; freeze the bones for making stock at another time

Cut the meat into bite-size pieces. Step 3 Coarsely chop the onion. Smash, peel and mince the garlic

Use a spoon to scrape away the skin of the ginger root, then grate or mince the ginger to yield at least 2 teaspoons (the more, the better!)

Step 4 Cut the green beans into 1-inch lengths. Step 5 Heat the oil in a wok or deep saute pan over medium-high heat

As soon as the oil shimmers, swirl it around to coat. Add the onion, garlic and ginger; stir-fry for about 40 seconds, just until fragrant, and then add the chicken pieces

Stir-fry for about 4 minutes or until they have taken on some color and are almost cooked through

Step 6 Add the green beans and soy sauce; stir-fry for 1 minute, then add the water

Cover and cook for 3 or 4 minutes, then uncover, drop in the basil leaves and season lightly with salt and pepper

Step 7 At this point, the flavor will be mild. Taste, and add more soy sauce, as needed

Serve your guests who like it that way, and then season what is left in the pan with a spicy component (see OVERVIEW) before dishing out the rest
