5 INSTAGRAM MARKETING TRENDS and UPDATES we will see in 2019 - Duration: 8:11.the Instagram trends in 2019 Oh what happened to my voice hello guys it's Mike
here welcome back to my channel Mike The Dope Toast I'm so excited to see you guys
right here and today you're actually watching the sixth episode of Draw
with Mike let's dive into that it's something about Christmas probably but
you maybe watch this video after the Christmas who knows right?
one of the first trend is definitely about the vertical format on Instagram
so what does it really mean vertical format I mean Story IGTV is vertical
obviously even portrait photo means that vertical photo worked better on
Instagram because when you're using your phone you're using your phone in this way
not this way usually cater more mobile experience
especially for the younger generation and if you actually noticed some of the
competitions of Instagram for example like Tik Tok so if you're still relying
on landscape or square you probably need to challenge yourself a little bit
and in fact that you can resize the photo and the video when you post it on
story so it used to be like ratios like fixed but now you can actually like
diminish the size and increase the size so Instagram actually allows you to be
more creative right now there is a lot of new update since my last video
Video will account for 81 percent of all internet traffic by 2021 Wow!
how powerful that video is gonna dominating and when we talk about video
that is not just about the video you see on your main feed but it's also about
the story video so when it comes to story ads it's about vertical and video
advertising so two V yeah video is more compelling because it tells a story a
lot better than just a photo can be interpreted in many ways so vertical
story ad is gonna be one of the biggest things in 2019 technically just
promote your story directly from your story from your phone it used to be you
need to go to Facebook manager to do that just like when you're promoting your
normal post so it's pretty useful for people that trying to utilize
ads but they don't have the time or don't have the tool kind of remind you guys they
actually have Instagram manager in 2019 side to side to Facebook all the
traffics all the analytics about your Instagram performance
which including your post click go into your website is gonna be helping you to
build your business a whole lot easy next one will be excited for people that
doing shopping on Instagram so I knew that shopping is not available for every
single country right now in Malaysia we don't have it right now you can
technically share your product in your story as a static image and you can tag
the product in your story as well story is gonna be your biggest friend
or enemy in 2019 it depends on your usage how to take advantage of story
it's going to bring a lot of valuable leads to you if you are actually utilized
the shopping feature if you have one if you're selling product I'm not sure that
how to actually sell service on Instagram with your shopping button but
I would say that product is probably like the better one for now I'm still
kind of getting to that one powerful in the sense that in today's world everyone
just trying to be more convenient just imagine everyone is on Instagram
specifically speaking for artists so I would say that it would be better for us
if we are able to sell our products like art or painting or something through
Instagram that would be awesome so by the way if you're interested to learn more
about Instagram and trying to have a one-on-one session with me you could
definitely send me email right here recently I just talked to a client which
she's an artist so I'm pretty excited to help people
that are actually in the creative industry engagement having more
engagement you kind of like increase your brand loyalty and shares by those
people that truly supporting you your followers is number one I think I speak
a lot of times about how conversion is very important it helps you not just to
grow the number but it helps you to grow real clients and customer and I think
that's what matters so one of the key about Instagram is interactive the
previous CEO Kevin Systrom said that Instagram Story is becoming
so successful compared to Snapchat and other alternative in fact it's not the first
one to do it Snapchat was right? It's because how interactive it is and I can
totally totally say it really is! Poll features emoji slider they have Questions
sticker you're able to ask questions interact with your followers allow
them to participate with you and if you are an artist I would definitely say
that will be good for you to definitely ask questions about your art if you
don't mind to be criticized I don't know like I usually do it a lot like ask people
to rate my drawing how these little things can actually lead them into your
direct message and they probably ask you more question they probably will answer
you more you can start a conversation right there and you probably make a friend
because of that you probably have a client because of that who knows?
especially like a personal brand there is actually two new stickers
coming on Instagram I'm not sure whether you've got it or whether you've used it
so I'm on iOS I'm not sure about Android it's called countdown sticker I believe it
is so I just tried it with countdown to Christmas you can set up the timing and
Instagram actually allows you to countdown and your followers can join another
feature which is you can actually have the question sticker through live videos
I haven't tried it yet and for those who have music sticker in your regions you
can also responding with music another one which is in the direct message is
voice calling about nine to ten months ago I speak about how Instagram is
trying to have voice calling and video calling
so video calling was around there for about a few months already and now voice
calling is finally here so it's a little like a walkie-talkie style that's what they
described on the website and it's nothing new but it's definitely
needed to be there I can literally do a meeting with my client right there
I can literally talk to my friend right now Instagram has been so complete with
all these little features and even in my last video when I spoke about how to
grow your account from scratch that's the title of the video I believe it
I actually mentioned two things which is to share and save people saved it
because they probably want to search you up later they probably want to introduce
you to their friends and family members that potentially will actually becoming
your customers and clients it's all about converting we really speak about
that where are you going to sell it so it's not just about getting free stuff
and getting engagement it's like oh I'm so happy I get one hundred likes it doesn't convert
you make sure that everything served the purpose of your post make sure
everything is gonna converting and there is another thing it's not
available yet hopefully it will be soon is that they're gonna redesign the whole
user interface about Instagram profile they're not going to focus on the followers
number put your name at first followed by your bio and your link or your website
and it'll be showing your followers number following so it would be like smaller
part for to showing the numbers of your followers and it's basically like
Twitter like Twitter already did it for like a while they have the cover photo
and they have the name the bio and so on and then it shows followers like a little
all matters is converting that's always how I preach about that but that's
really real that's probably the first video we don't talk about hashtag
hope that you get some insights about that of course there's a lot of things I
probably left out because there's just so many things coming in on Instagram
can you imagine that just because I took two weeks three weeks break there's a
lot of update already I'm just thinking about having a new series probably so by
the time right now you probably watch till the end is the end of Draw with Mike
so yeah we're gonna get to the drawing alright guys so now is the end
so that's why we need to review the drawing once more I did a few drawings
like before right like you probably already noticed that but this one is the
one that I'm showing you just now when I was walking in the street with my
friends and it's like a throwback I'm just very thankful for everything you know
for 2018 I get my first client I get to get paid for an algorithm research what?
like I knew so many amazing people probably the most like fullest of my
life it's like fullest? fullest! yeah and I'm able to do whatever I enjoy
and I also injured my hand a little bit I don't know why but you know that's how
year is all about subscribe hit the bell so you wouldn't miss any new
content from Mike The Dope Toast peace out

Liverpool news: Christian Pulisic development suggests he will snub Chelsea for Reds move - Duration: 2:26.Liverpool and Chelsea have both been backed to lure Pulisic away from Borussia Dortmund with the player's future in Germany uncertain
The USA international has spent the last two years terrorising Bundesliga defenders but, now, is stuck behind Jadon Sancho in the pecking order
**PREDICT FIVE RESULTS AND WIN £25,000 - FREE TO PLAY HERE** Express Sport understands Chelsea are in pole position to sign the 20-year-old amid his Dortmund struggles
Yet the bookies claim Liverpool are favourites. Ladbrokes have installed the Reds as frontrunners to be his next club at 2/1
Arsenal are then next-placed at 3/1. And Chelsea bring up the rear at 4/1. Journalist Raphael Honigstein, though, believes Pulisic will become a Chelsea player despite Liverpool links
"Dortmund are looking to see if there are other offers coming in as you would," he told Sky Sports
"But it is kind of agreed that the player will move in the summer definitely because he still has a year to run on his contract
"Unless someone matches Chelsea's offer or exceeds it, he'll go there. "Maurizio Sarri could welcome the USA international to Stamford Bridge in the summer
"There was some interest from Manchester United, I understand, but they've gone a little bit quiet now because they've got other stuff to deal with
"They don't know if whoever the next guy is will want to pay that amount of money on Christian Pulisic
" Pulisic has made 114 appearances since making his Dortmund debut in 2015. During that time he has won just one trophy - the DFB-Pokal in 2017

What Will the New Year Bring - Duration: 5:51.Since you mentioned the maglev thing, that's a typical example: The leading engineer of
the Chinese maglev institute just announced that China has a new generation of slow maglevs
which are no longer only going 100 kph, but 160 kph, and these maglevs are used for inner
city traffic and traffic between main cities and their satellites.
Now, just imagine if you have a subway or a local transport system which can go in seconds
up to a 160 kph, then travel time becomes very, very efficient.
The beauty of the maglev is that it accelerates very rapidly, in a very short time, and it
does not have the usual kind of pushback you feel when you accelerate a car, because the
technology is such that it goes more smoothly.
So they are revolutionizing the inner-city traffic in this way.
The Chang'e-4 mission to land on the far side of the Moon is happening in these days, it
will take place.
And it was just announced that Chinese scientists discovered a way of turning copper into gold
-- obviously not entirely, but they were able to transform the structure of cooper in such
a way that it fulfills the same functions like precious metals in the industrial process.
So this is a revolutionizing of a new materials, as well.
I mean, the maglev could have been developed by Germany!
Germany developed the technology, and they were too stupid to produce it -- and now the
Chinese are doing it.
So, I'm just saying, the West should seriously rethink that this whole post-industrial, Club
of Rome, ecological paradigm was really a mistake.
The best way to maintain the ecological environment is by high technology, by new, scientific
breakthroughs, and that is happening, fortunately in China, which has long stopped to just copy
technologies of the West, but is creating breakthroughs all the time.
I think the perspective for the future should really be that the Western people, those who
are not the hard-core neo-cons, like Kissinger, for example -- I think he's a lost case.
He advocated for years that a Peace of Westphalia approach for the Middle East is not possible.
Now, I think he's just in the process of being proven completely wrong.
So there are some hard-core neo-con, neo-liberal people, who I think will never reconsider
that their model was wrong, but there are many people who were just swimming along,
going along to get along, or being victimized by this neo-liberal model, and they should
think that there is obviously, right now, a recognition that the old, neo-liberal model is failing.
This article which you mention in Foreign Affairs, it's actually funny, the authors
basically say that they thought there was a universal desire for a liberal democracy
model, and now it's so bad, it turned out that that's not the case, because you have
these populists arising everywhere, and what they call "autocratic regimes," -- well, at
least concerning most of the "autocratic regimes" they take care of the common good of their
people much better, and that is why you have these populists, which sometimes are populist,
sometimes they're just really taking care of the common good, in a better way than the
neo-liberals.
So you have the old system disintegrating, and everybody can see a new system is emerging,
but what should be the exact nature of this New Paradigm is not yet decided.
And I think it requires the active participation of a lot of good-thinking, good-meaning people,
to find those principles which are in cohesion with the lawfulness of the physical universe:
Because I think that the future order of humanity can only be successful if it adheres to true
physical, universal principles, in science and in great art.
And that is the very idea of the Schiller Institute, and that is what you can find in
the Aesthetical Letters of Friedrich Schiller, which I would emphasize for you to read over
these days: You have still the end of year and New Year, some time to engage in more
profound ideas, and the Aesthetical Letters by Schiller, for sure, is food for thought,
very actual for the solution to our present-day problems.
So with that, I wish you a good change into the New Year, and let's talk soon.

10 Signs You Will Become Rich In Life (Animated Video) - Duration: 8:30.10 Signs You Will Become Rich In Life
Every one of us aspires to become rich but whether we possess what it takes to become
rich or not is what we do not know.
Becoming rich has nothing to do with how much money you earn but how well you manage your
money.
Ever wondered why even when some people win a lottery or something around that, they somehow
manage to slander and lavish it all, leaving them with nothing in a short period of time,
back to zero level.
It's simple!
They do not know how to manage their finance effectively.
In this video, we'll be sharing with you 10 signs that show you will become rich in
life.
If you're new here, consider subscribing so that you won't miss other interesting
videos like this.
1.
You have clear goals
If you know exactly what you want and how you want your life to turn out, you are one
step closer to making wealth and becoming rich.
Setting goals is a way of intentionally choosing what you want to do with your life, not waiting
to receive whatever life throws at you.
Studies show that when it comes to success, the most important benchmark is creating clear
goals for yourself by writing out these goals and committing yourself to stay accountable
to your goals.
Thomas C. Corley, author of "Change Your Habits, Change Your Life" says, "most self-made millionaires
plan to get rich and then make it happen, Corley's research finds that eighty per cent
of the wealthy are "obsessed with pursuing goals," both daily and long-term."
2.
You are willing to take calculated risks
Unlike the middle class, millionaires know how to take risks.
It is not because they are fearless but because they overcome fear with knowledge by educating
themselves before taking risks, and also considering the consequences of failing.
Millionaires know that to get rich, one should be able to invest money for long-term.
And this is often their motivation when taking calculated (not reckless) risk.
3.
You save to invest
Savings must be your priority if you want wealth.
According to self-made millionaire Grant Cardone "Investing money is how you will get super
rich,".
"The only reason to save money is to one day invest money."
You also need to realize that the amount of money you save is often times more important
than the amount you earn.
Most millionaires invest 20 per cent of their household income each year.
Their wealth isn't measured by the amount they make each year, but by how they've saved
and invested over time.
Although saving up and following a specific budget might get hard sometime and you might
feel like giving up, but if you push yourself and keep at it, then your wealth is inevitable.
Experts also suggest that it is best to start with a fund for tough days because it is only
when it becomes significant, you can divert the savings to smaller funds.
4.
You are persistent
"Most of us are good 'starters' but poor 'finishers' of everything we begin, Napoleon Hill, author
of "Think and grow rich," says.
"
The majority of people "are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat," Hill says,
"but not the rich, who don't stop until they get what they want."
It takes both time and patience to gather money, and there will always be circumstances
that will require throwing your savings habit to the gutter (either for pleasure sake or
not).
But when choosing to be consistent and staying committed to it will help you become rich.
5.
You are not scared of making mistakes
Mistakes are a part of your learning and growing process.
Napoleon Hill says, "If the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace
it with a new plan; if this new plan fails to work, replace it in turn with still another,
and so on until you find a plan which does work."
The good thing about making mistakes is that you can determine what you did right and what
you didn't.
It will help you to make better choices, help you discover your strength and your weaknesses.
6.
You don't take the easy way out
The only time you are actually ever growing in life is when you are uncomfortable which
comes as a result of taking the hard way out and stepping out of your comfort zone.
Multi-millionaires know that choosing to play safe never gets anyone to their financial
destination.
Hence, they always choose the hard way out.
For instance, choosing to diversify your income isn't an easy task for anyone to do when you
can choose to focus on just one income stream, but if it getting rich requires you to do
that, why not?
7.
You are always opened to constructive criticism
The person with a 'closed' mind on any subject seldom gets ahead.
Rich and successful people constantly seek feedbacks and have learned to accept constructive
criticism as a tool for improvement.
They constantly seek ways to improve, both personally and professionally.
8.
You have multiple streams of income
Most self-made multi-millionaires do not rely on one source of income, they diversify.
"Sixty-five per cent had at least three streams of income that they created prior to making
their first million dollars," Corley says.
Creating multiple streams of income is not easy but it's possible if you're willing
to invest some time into your financial education.
Study entrepreneurship.
Read books about investing.
Study how people use the internet to create business and make money.
If you're curious enough, you'll discover how to create multiple streams of income.
9.
You are focused on building your net worth, not working income
Poor people think that the only way to get rich is to earn a lot of money, forgetting
Parkinson's law that states that "expenses will only rise in direct proportion to income."
Rich people, however, focus on building a net worth that will further create more wealth
in the future.
After all, the measure of wealth is net worth, not working income or paycheck.
10.
You do not give up
In life, there will always be rough roads and challenges at different points in time.
It is usually tempting to throw everything you've worked for out the window and probably
pick a new interest to work.
However, if everyone dumps a project every time they get tired of it, the world will
probably be in a mess.
To become rich, you have to constantly be in the habit of not giving up, persist and
watch things turn around for you.
In summary, getting rich isn't easy and that's why only few people ever get rich.
If you truly desire to get rich, you must stop making excuses, take responsibility,
stay determined and be willing to pay whatever price.

Maurizio Sarri Explains Why He Will Not 'Sit Down' With Eden Hazard to Discuss Contract Standoff - Duration: 3:02.Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has voiced his frustrations over Eden Hazard's contract stalemate and has admitted it is now 'time to decide' on the player's future
The Belgian superstar's current deal with the Blues expires in the summer of 2020 and despite ongoing efforts to extend the 27-year-old's stay at Stamford Bridge, it has been to no avail
With Hazard making it publicly clear of his admiration and desire to play for in the future, Sarri has acknowledged the situation has dragged on for too long
The boss said, as quoted by the : "I think that it's time to decide. Will I sit down with him? No, because I don't have the power to do this
I am the coach, I am not the president.I am not in charge of the market.I want to speak to him only about his position on the pitch
We have to solve this problem if we want to programme the future." With both Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata misfiring for the Blues up front, Sarri has utilised in a false nine position in recent weeks and became frustrated when questioned over his decision to do so
Sarri added: "I cannot see the problem of Hazard in this role - he played four matches and scored three goals and made two assists
I am really very happy with him in this position because he is very able to score, first of all; very able to open spaces for teammates and very able to come to play with teammates
At the moment I am very happy with him in this position. In the future, he can play also as a winger, of course
I don't know if he prefers to play as a winger but if he is able to play like in the last match in the centre, for me it's not a problem to put him in the centre

Good Riddance, Paul Ryan – History Will Not Be Kind To You - Duration: 3:28.For the last week or so, Paul Ryan has been out there talking about how bittersweet retirement
is and how he's just so darn sad of the polarizing atmosphere in dc today and he wishes he could
have just healed that a little bit better.
He's also talked about his legacy quite a bit, which he says he's very proud of, and
in a six part tweet storm, one day last week, he decided to post a series of videos documenting
how that tax bill from this time last year went from an idea to a reality and that is
what he wants people to remember.
Paul Ryan, champion of the people by cutting taxes for corporations.
Paul Ryan is delusional about what his legacy is going to be.
Paul Ryan has spent his 20 years in Washington dc trying to cut every possible program that
actually benefits average Americans or Americans who are in need of government assistance.
That is what Paul Ryan has done in addition to trying to screw over poor people.
The other half of his legacy is bending over backwards to give his corporate donors everything
they have ever wanted, and to a large degree, Paul Ryan has succeeded in that and his tax
cut package from last year is proof of it.
That was a tax cut bill that the American public didn't want the American public didn't
benefit from, but his wealthy donors did.
The Koch brothers absolutely benefited from that, and as soon as he passed it, they gave
his little pack $500,000.
In fact, I think at the end of it, that number was much higher than $500,000, but that was
the initial payment that Paul Ryan received from the Koch themselves after he gave them
that lofty reward.
Paul Ryan, contrary to what he believes is not going to be remembered as a champion of
the people.
He's not going to be remembered as a decent human being.
He is going to be remembered as a pro corporate scumbag who screwed over the American public
who essentially spit in their face every time he proposed cuts to Medicaid, medicare, social
security, or any other social safety net program.
They're going to remember him as a coward, as a weakling who refused to stand up to special
interests and instead bow down to them, begging them for money and promising them everything
they could ever imagine.
So regardless of what Paul Ryan tweets out or how he reminisces fondly about his days
in DC or how he talks about this horrible bipartisan nature happening right now where
nobody gets along with anybody.
Just keep in mind that his policies helped to fuel the divide in this country, both in
Washington DC and the divide between the haves and the have nots.
That growing income gap, this polarization we're experiencing.
You can thank Paul Ryan for that and once he finally leaves office in a week or so,
nobody is going to miss him and history is not going to be kind to him.
When they finally have to write about his legacy.

I don't think any pair of sneakers is worth this, man.
Look at my hand.
Got a girlfriend? - Yeah.
- You're lyin', lyin'. (man laughs)
What girl is gonna put up with this, tell me.
- [Man] Well, she's a saint, I can tell you to that.
- A St. Bernard. (man laughs)
Alright, buddy.
Thank me, that'll be $12, alright?
We need another towel, we need another towel.
(Conceited groans)
We need a beach towel.
(upbeat music) (cash register dings)
(Conceited grunts) (upbeat music)
Masterpiece.
Now, I have to phone all my sneaker-heads.
Yeah, yeah, it was bad.
But I'm comin' home with the shoes.

I know, but I have a change of persona after going there
I become somebody else
Because I have seen you as a very conserved
Very much, very much
I look forward to coming back and when I come back, I love it
Actually my entire family is here
Kiran is in the only child who lives outside
so how do you live without your friends and family?
Its very difficult and I miss them, but thank God
that I have made good friends there too
and the atmosphere is very different there
Your activities are different
You meet different people
Its quite
mind opening
the time, over there because I get to meet the most wonderful people
and the most remarkable
people in their own fields
So did you start painting living there?
No
I thought that maybe, because you have time now
but I don't get enough
to start it again
No I don't get time at all
and my entire week is spent being busy
sometimes I am going to Kiran, sometimes she comes to me
in Long Island
Our weekends are together
and there is something planned all the time
We take a trip to Europe
Every year
So we prepare for it and when we return, we are tired
its just a mad rush
so thats why I never get time
So how long will keep this up?
Forever
All planned and set
Absolutely
Lets go back a little
in your childhood \
Are you the youngest?
Yes I am the youngest
so the most pampered
I don't know about that but
but I think there were a lot of benefits of being the younger child
I will only say this that you don't get to say anything productive
Everyone thinks you as the youngest
in childhood
but I think that an experiment with the elders is already done
That is true
I have 5 siblings
who are elder to me
So in my childhood, I was mostly ignored that this
that whatever she is saying, ignore it, she is bluffing
but since I grew up and I asserted myself
So now I control all of them
Who loved you the most?
My father
because we are 2 sisters and 4 brothers
so girls were given importance in your house
What was it like?
She used to do that needle work
and she used to sing too
and she was very disciplined
So how was it?
I will just say this that
Our house
it was mostly
like
an entertainment everyday
because my mother's relatives and friends
and my father's relatives and friends
People used to come and go all the time
and we used to live in Muslim town where all my father's relatives lived
because his elders had bought that place and the entire family lived there
it was the most blissful childhood because
our grandmothers house was very near
my uncle, and all my favourite cousins used to live near us
Everyday was fun
but the best thing I saw about my house was that it was an open house
whoever came, stayed
a new bedstead would be placed in our room for the guest
and just like this they used to come and stay for 3 or 3 months
and because there was no television or internet
the only entertainment for us was to sit with our elders and listen to them talk
Like the people of the same age as my grandmother
So it was an interesting time, as we used to ask them to tell us stories, and things about Jammu
so
I think a lot of my personality and character has been shaped by that early
interaction
with older people
What is your first memory?
I think my first memory is my sisters wedding
It must be my first memory, that she was getting engaged
and people are coming to our house and my sister is sitting all dressed up
and then next year she got married
that also I remember
and my mother made me wore some jewellry and told me that
don't let anyone take it
so I told the entire family that, take care of me because I am wearing jewelry
So I have heard that story and I think it is my first memory
So you had a lot of guests
Were the kids allowed to sit with them
This wasn't said that go to your rooms
or that go and do somethings else
you would sit and listen to them
Understood or not but you were sitting there
and because my father was friendly
He was one of the intellectuals of that time
He used to write too
He used to be in the company of the famous poets
because I was the youngest and I didn't have much exposure
but I know that
there were a lot of intellectual gatherings in the house
where poems were recited
and I remember that I used to go in a lot of poetry competitions
with my parents
so our house had a very desi ambiance
there was nothing western about it
We didn't eat on the table
We had a simple household
we had a village lifestyle
We didn't even have a dining table
We had small stools
We used to sit on it and there used to be a choky infront for food
or we would use a tray
there was no such formality
and all the guests or relatives would do the same
another place would get filled
because there was only one A.C in our house and it was a rarity of that time
and everyone used to sleep in that room ofcourse
So me and my parents
and my siblings
my sister got married and she left, and one of my brothers went abroad to study
So we used to be in that room
so whoever used to come, his bedstead would be placed ther e
so it was a communal living
Which is a precursor to the communal living that was followed much later in America
after they all decided to make communes
So this was the environement of our house
I think it was like this in the old times
Everyone was very hospitable
And the ambiance of the house never changed because of the guests, there was no formality
So where did you learn all this, you are very graceful
and you carry yourself well
and make over and eveything else
I think I have learned all of this with magazines and television
I think there was emphasis on it
My mother wasn't found of dressing up
She
was not fond of any makeup
She had one lipstick that she would use
and she would just smear the lipstick for the extra
and I have never seen anything like makeup with her
but apparantly earlier on
She told me that she used to have the black and green nail polish and she was very fashionable at that time
It may have been true but I never saw her like that, because I was born when she was in her 40s
so I didn't see that and I suppose that 40 was considered really old
so she had left doing makeovers or getting dressed up
and I was fond of that
I had always liked
well dressed people
and makeup and all that
But like you are right now
I have seen that you are very conserved
and I remember when I did a play, and you and Naeem came
and I thought that memory is so beautiful
Its wonderful and I have so many memories
of you and
Usman walking
Walking from your place to our place
and we used to meet in New Garden town
How were you as a teenager?
I think
I was
pretty
wild
but
Were you wild as a kid also?
I think so
I was always rebellious
and I was
always
questioning
and not given to
obedience
which my mother wanted
demanded of me when I was
when I was not doing that
so what did your mother want
She wanted me to obey her
and I used to protest
and I used to argue
Did your mother want you to do music?
She wanted it
She tried
with my siblings also
but
maybe she didn't try hard enough
What did people come to teach you?
One teacher used to teach Sitar
and then there was a teacher for singing
One of my brothers would be learning something one way or the other
and then I learned Sitar too
because my mother wanted me to learn it
and there was a picture of you in Natural Geography
so my mother wanted all her children to have some skills in them
and she never agreed to this that only studies were enough
and when we used to protest that we are very busy in studies and etc
it takes a lot of my time
everybody would make an excuse
so she would not agree to that
She said that you can be so many things
You just
You don't have to be one thing at a time
and did you get books as a gift?
that read books too
We didn't get books but my father had a lot of books that were classic
and I remember I used to read
Thomas Hardy and
Charles Dickens and I was
maybe 12 or 13
and I think that imprinted on my mind, a lot of melancholy
because all these books were tragedy
and I think that the ones I enjoy
reading and watching are tragic movies
tragic songs
so I think that kindled that fire with in me
You never thought of acting?
No
When you like arts so much
and in the house
No
not at all
in fact my mother wanted to act ones
and she told my father, there were 2 children then
that I want to go to Bombay and act
and if you remember, at that time, the actors also were the singers
that is why she got a role in a movie
She took the children with her to Bombay
and there she
recorded a song
After two weeks she called my father and said that
I cannot do this, this is a very difficult thing
and you have to stay dressed up on the set for the entire day
and nothing happens, shooting is a long process
and I am done
but I have a contract, so what should I do
so he told her to come back, and we will fight it
So she came back
and that song
We saw recently
We saw it on BBC because they did documentry on old silent films
and there is a recording of my mother where she is singing
and is singing live
musicians
are sitting behind the camera
It was done like this back then
so its incredible that we have that record of her
How precious, this is such a precious memory
So she came back, and no child was fond of it?
No son wanted to do this?
because it was so exciting, this
I think nobody thought of that, even though there were a lot of famous actors living near us
They were close friends
But you were rebellious, you didn't think of it either?
No I didn't think of it either
and we even had a studio, Malika Studios
So there was shooting done there everyday, and we all would be going
but
No one came towards acting nor did anyone show any desire
Then you came to college
I came to college and
I had the best
best
three four years, of my life
in college
So you used to sing there?
No
Never
I was already a professional
I was 14 when I joined college
and I had already appeared on T.V
and was that by chance or by desire
That was by desire because
There was a competiton organised on radio station
I took part in it .
and I got the first prize in it
and Mohammad Idrees told me to come on television
He had a program called, University Challenge
So I told him to ask my mother
He asked her
and I had just appeared for my Senior Cambrige
and then I went and performed in his show
Were you a reluctant singer?
Very reluctant
I think that too because
I was never fond of it
I only did it for my mother
So what did you want to become?
Nothing
Why is it important to become something?
Why couldn't I just be nothing?
It is not important to become something
It would have been so fun that I would have been unknown and would be living a normal life
and not having these anxiety attacks that should I sing this
and all that tension
so did you ever talk to your mother?
My father had died when I was 14
But I couldn't talk to my mother, at that time, you could talk to the father but not the mother
She knew that I was reluctant
but when she used to teach you singing
so how did you avoid or dissapear?
I never did
I couldn't go
And how early?
In the evening, after school
When I used to comeback, my singing teacher used to be waiting
He was the father of Amanat Al,i Fateh Ali
Khan Akhtar Hussain
So he used to sit, and he was an elderly man and I used to respect him
So how could I get up and dissappear
I had to sit there and learn
so coming after school, being tired and then doing this, I hated it
but thank God she persisted
at that time you never know
No not at all
that this art stay with you forever
It keep you going
Yes absolutely
Now tell me, if you used to learn singing, where did your mind wander?
In the entire world
It was never focused
I just used to wait that when will this end
and when will I go from here
to read or play outside
What did you play?
We had a very big garden
The house where we moved to when I was about 12
it was 80 canals
and my mother had planted all the fruit trees in there
and she had peackocks there too
I remember that
that was later
but we used to have deer and monkeys
We had sheeps
and there was an entire orchard with guavas and mango trees
She had brought them from India and other places
Lychee was there too
Cheeku
and an entire garden of berries
I mean there wasn;t anything that she had not grown there
It used to be a wonderful place for children to play
so I just wanted to be
I just wanted it all to end so that I could go and play
in the garden
and there were the children of our servants
I had no sibling at our house
so used to play with them a lot
Did you play with dolls?
Not a lot
You didn't play with them
No
I had 2 dolls
My brother brought them from London, and my mother forbid me to open the boxes
So she used to say
You have no work here, you can go
She was keeping stuff away from us all the time
and she also had a habit of
She used to eat one piece of chocolate at a time
So obviously if someone would bring chocolates, they would stay with her
and she used to give us one piec e
and we used to beg her to give us more, but she never did
One piece at one time
and she also loved sugar coated almonds
She used to have them
and whenever any of us would go out, we would get it for her
and that also one at a time
You know the concept of a tiger mom, she was that
She always believed that you could do better
so it never happened in my life, that she
appreciated
there was always something that I should have done better
so these dresses and this jewelry
and all these things that I have seen
since I met you in the 70s
I was married already
I started this afterwards
So all of this is aquired
My mother would go shopping in Summer
I think at the age of 15 or 16
I had fallen in love at the age of 13 to 14 with Manoj Kumar
and if we had a picture of any actor
we would decide that this is him
and I loved Muhammad Ali
and I remember that there was his shooting at our studio
and Waheed Murad?
No
You didn't like Waheed Murad?
Thats interesting
We had a group of friends, one of them liked Nadeem
one like Waheed Murad
and I liked Muhammad Ali
and I saw him there
So when did that final love happen?
that I want to marry him
Thank God there was such a love story that evolved into marriage
and you were studying law at that time
I had already finished law
I was working in Zafar's office
and Naeem was already ther e
and he was once again, a remarkably handsome man
we just, after a while
So he proposed, or did you?
Samina, which world are you living in? When did the girls ever propose?
I did
You would have been very bold
I would never take the first
but no, when it came to the proposing, it had to be the man
I was brought up on English novels
and my sister used to have
masses of
cheap romances
and Barabara Cartin, Dinese Robins
So in them , it was always the guy who had to
the one who gets down on his knees and holds the hand
and will ask, will you marry me?
Exactly
So I had this in my mind, that it had to be the man who has to take the first step
So did you tell your mother about this?
No
When did we talk like this to our moms?
She would have killed me
so when the proposal happened, the she came to know
How long did it take for you to quote
Hardly 6 months
and you knew this that that was your man?
No I didn't
It was just a chance
Obviously it didn't workout
so the chance didn't work out
It was only 6 months
What did you like about him?
Stunningly good looking?
Extremely good humor
I mean good sense of humor
but very good sense of humor
and he made me laugh
and he was great company
so
what more could one ask for
so how long were you together?
12 years
thats a long time
it is
and then you decided
thats enough now
Things didn't work out
So when you get separated, does it take time to adjust to the new life?
Of course
It takes alot of time
it takes a lot of effort
but
I think eventually it worked out really well
because he is Mashallah married and has
has children and is happily married
And then you have two
I have 2 wonderful children
but did you keep the friendship intact as you had babies
Not really, it was just with the kids
You kept that cordial relation for the children?
No, I was wanting that
but it didn't happen
So when your first child was born
How did it feel?
It was just the most incredible thing
Samina, the thing is that we forget about the childhood
and particularly when my children were born, I wanted them to grow up early
and that this time should just go
and I look at these children with fascination, I think for the first time in my life
I have seen children so closely
and I consider everything they do to be so new and so incredible
that it is like
seeing the world
all over again
so I enjoy that thoroughly
I love
Didn't you want any of your kid to go into arts?
I did ask them but they declined
or artists and singers
I wanted them to have proper careers first
and Kiran was model, you know that
Kiran started modeling
and then she went on to
become a lawyer
so she went abroad to study
got a job and everything
but
I asked them if they were intersted in
art, and they said they are not
so I was fine with it
You did ask
I was not going to do what my mother did
No one can play any instrument?
No, no, not at all
So I think this is a reaction
Exactly
So what things didn't you stop them from?
Whenever it came to
some
upbringing
question
I would always say that what would my mother have done at that time
and I would do the opposite
Really?
Thats very interesting
and because I remember
I knew exactly how I had felt
at certain times
and I promised that
that would not happen to them and I would not make them go through that
So I
gave them
all the freedom in the world
It all went well, touchwood
I gave them all the freedom, confidence and
trust
and I said, do what you have to
I so much wanted her to be in my first film
I know I know
but then she went abroad to study
So she carried on with her law
Where are you today?
When you look back?
Extremely satisfied with my life
so happy and
fulfulled

This Will Change The Way You Look At Everything | Robert Greene (A Chilling Speech) - Duration: 9:43.I think that we're actually animals that we have an animal nature and that we
have to become human and we become human by overcoming some of these deep-rooted
animal forces within us these forces within us that we can't control such as
the fact that we can't control our own emotions our own anger our own
frustration or if we feel Envy but we're caught up in the emotions of other
people I call those forces primal forces human nature and they can create sort of
negative patterns of behavior the dark side of what we see in the news etc and
we all have them ingrained in us because with the way we evolved millions of
years ago served a very definite purpose for our survival as a species but the
savannas of East Africa is not the offices in Silicon Valley or a 21st
century America the world isn't the same we are not built to adapt to this new
technological environment we're in we still have that lizard brain those
animal parts of our nature so for instance law number one is about how
we're basically irrational creatures we think that were rational but really our
emotions governess we feel something before we ever have an idea of thinking
we have to become rational through this process that I lay out in my book so I
don't need to say that we're negative because humans are obviously incredible
look at what we've created it's an array giuse if you think about who we were
millions of years ago where we are now we're obviously capable of incredible
achievements were also the most brilliant social animal on the planet
we're capable of cooperating and working on teams to a level that no other animal
has ever reached so there's obviously another side to the story but to become
greater to become truly human we have to overcome these forces that I lay out so
for instance we are built to constantly compare ourselves to other people we're
always thinking of what the other person has and how we are in relation to them
are we getting as much attention as that other person you start off when we were
are we getting more attention than our siblings from our parents so we're
continually comparing ourselves in rank and power and status to the people
around us and this is deep force within us and it's constant every day every
moment you don't realize that what you're going through that and social
media it completely exacerbates this tendency in human nature
another is the contagiousness of emotions which is extremely powerful we
tend to think of ourselves as autonomous human beings that were independent that
we I feel affection or anger or frustration on my own we don't realize
how deep we are affected by the emotions of the people in a group this is the
viral effects emotions are extremely contagious before the invention of
language we humans had to be able to communicate to one another through just
picking up the moods of other people and if there was a threat to our group or
our tribe the ability to feel fear and anger together bonded us and helped us
survive but that doesn't serve much function in the world today where viral
emotions could be very dangerous in there we see a lot of that on social
media I'm really worried about people nowadays but now my worry is that people
are so immersed in their smartphones in their technology that they don't
understand people they're not observing people and this has been documented in
studies that young people for instance levels of self-absorption and narcissism
had been growing steadily since the 1970s we are the preeminent social
animal the planet our survival depends on how
we relate to other people whether we understand them on some level and I find
a lot of people are increasingly in the world are really bad at observing just
basic elements in human psychology the position I'm in now I'm a consultant to
a lot of very powerful famous people I'm not gonna mention any names people fly
me out to consult the CEOs political people who are very powerful in even in
other countries and the number one problem I find that they have is an
inability to understand the people they're dealing with they hire the wrong
partners they hire the worst assistance when dabbe ruining their lives these are
people who are technically brilliant they understand their field they
understand marketing etc but they don't understand basics about people around
them and they make terrible hires are they very absolutely the wrong person
for them in their lives their emotions or you know their personal relationship
to bring them down so this is like our Achilles heel and I think it's gotten
worse in the world today so my anger was that people are so focused on technology
but that we need to focus much more on human nature on understanding people
that's the primary skill that you need in life there is something deeply
ingrained in each individual person a particular individual nature that we all
have and that causes us to go into compulsive patterns of behavior I have
this problem myself I notice each time I write a book I'm telling myself I'm
gonna make this book short I'm not gonna ruin my health I'm not gonna do so much
research and then every goddamn time I still go through the same process I
can't break this pattern okay and everybody has them where does it come
from some of it comes from our DNA from our genetics things we can't
that we've inherited from our parents some of it comes from our early
attachment and some of it comes as we get older and we interact with teachers
and mentors and various people who create a certain way we view ourselves
if people keep telling us that were not really worthy that we're not good
students we internalize that in the end up becoming like that so it's a mix of
things you know each person has a mix of these qualities and you have to kind of
and untangle the various strands in your write-up what I'm saying is you're a
mystery to yourself you don't know who you are you have patterns of behavior
and you're not even understanding that you don't know why you're angry you
think you're angry because that person said something mean to you or did
something wrong but in fact your anger probably stems from things from deep
deep within from your childhood and you're not reacting to that person but
to actually your parents and what they didn't give you you know those is the
origin of wisdom according to the Greeks was know thyself right and I believe
that very firmly that knowledge about who you are is an end in itself and will
help you in so many ways become that human being that I think we all have the
potential to become so I'm a great believer in baby steps in learning how
to do things on a daily basis so normally when we feel an emotion or we
have an idea we don't examine it we just assume that's that's you know it just
naturally came up with that on our own I want you every single day to be
examining yourself and to look at yourself
why do I have that idea why am I feeling this sudden emotion and it's not easy it
takes it can take time and it can take degree of introspection that you're not
comfortable with but if you begin to look at yourself in question why do I
feel this way and examine it and look at perhaps other sources of it then you can
begin this process of understanding instead of just simply accepting that
you feel or have this certain idea so question yourself stop assuming that
everything you do is so brilliant and smart it's right and imagine that maybe
your ideas don't come from yourself maybe you're feeling some political
anger or whatever comes from the fact that you're just assuming it from other
people you're following things on Facebook and you're getting swept up in
some viral emotion you want to think that you're completely independent and
autonomous but maybe you're not as independent as you think I want to
change how you look at people normally everything is personal oh they said that
oh they don't like me oh he likes me she I'm not getting attention cut that off I
want you to look at people as as facts of nature as things that like a rock or
a stone or a plant this is who they are and I want you to observe them and
accept them for who they are and deal with them as individuals you will be
free of all that emotional baggage that you carry when you take everything so
personally I think altering your perspective how you look at people will
have a radical influence on all aspects of your life

What £400 Will Get You In London | Sweet Digs | Refinery29 - Duration: 6:41.Hi guys, I'm Pip and welcome to my Sweet Digs.
If you haven't already subscribe below, and come on in.
I live in a maisonette in a 60s tower block
in Hoxton, which is in East London.
I live here with my boyfriend Dan.
He's actually from the area, and he owns the flat.
So, I pay 400 pounds towards the mortgage,
which is a bargain for an area and a flat like this.
So, over here we have my living room.
It houses quite a lot of my plants,
which you can see I've got a lot of them.
I got most of them from Columbia Road Flower Market
which is just across the road.
The flower market makes Hoxton unique.
On Sunday it's so buzzy.
It's like people from all parts of the world here,
and like really London flower traders,
and they shout all kinds of funny stuff.
I have a lot of mid-century furniture, it's one thing that I really love,
but we try to mix it in with like industrial pieces.
This piece of furniture is actually
probably the only piece of furniture that my boyfriend
had in this flat.
And I saw this and I thought,
"Okay, you know, he's quite cool."
"He has at least he has a piece of mid-century furniture."
Inside it, it like, houses all of the DVDs
and the TV stuff that's so ugly,
and you can just put it away and hide it.
This is the main focal point of our living room.
It's a book case that we actually built out of scaffolding planks.
And it houses all of my little pots and plants and trinkets.
We have this awesome balcony.
And look we've got Canary Wharf over there,
the Olympic stadium, the whole of East London.
It's just perfect on a day like today.
We have the kitchen over here with the big breakfast bar.
It's quite small but it's open plan which is nice.
We can all hang out in one big space.
There's a lot of good prep area
to do the cooking, and like lay everything out.
And obviously we do all the cooking over there on the stove.
I said stove that's so American, why did I say that?
[laughs]
I just cook whatever I fancy, whatever they have in the organic shop.
The thing is, is that we like to do it together.
Or I like to control what's happening, and Dan will help me.
*click clock*
We live in a flat that is across two floors, which I think is quite cool.
I think it's probably quite typical of a 60s like building.
So, follow me upstairs and I'll give you a little tour of up there.
Our bedroom.
It's yet to be decorated, it's actually my next task is to do this room.
Dan has given me the theme of Miami Vice.
So, millennial pinks, velvet headboard,
very boudoiry, lots of plants,
and we're gonna do a naughty gallery wall.
We have a great piece by the Notes To Strangers.
We've got one that's like,
"You can be a feminist but enjoy a spanking,"
which is quite fun.
One of my favorite things in this room is the record player.
it doesn't work,
and I think it's gonna cost a lot of money to get it fixed,
but it really goes with the mid-century like
teak vibe that I've got downstairs in the flat.
These are mine and Dan's childhood toys.
Ben Bunny and Foxy.
They have now become best friends.
He's my little thing that makes me feel safe at all times.
And over this side.
We have our office.
I can work from home here.
Dan makes jungle music, so this is all of his equipment.
This piece is something that I bought Dan for his birthday.
This is a jungle song.
I have no knowledge of jungle so, I don't know.
But he loves it and it makes him really happy, and yeah.
I love orange, it's the happiest color.
It just makes you feel so good.
Orange shirts, orange bags,
I love this orange cushion.
We bought this couch specifically because it was orange.
We have a toilet,
and then this is the bathroom.
So, they're separated.
The bathroom is actually the only room in the house that
I really don't like.
It's really small, there's no bath, there's no natural light.
Eventually we'll probably do it up and knock the wall through,
but right now there's nothing going on
so let's not spend any more time in here
and let's go and check out one of the other rooms.
We've got our walk-in wardrobe.
The most expensive thing that we have in the house is the wardrobe.
I have everything hung on velvet hangers.
because you get more clothes in that way.
But it does manage to house everything.
On this side we have Dan's trainer collection.
He has 200 pairs.
He loves them, he wears a different pair every day.
I take all the photos for his Instagram.
His trainer collection definitely dictated
how the room was gonna be designed.
So, we decided to go for a Ikea bookcase
so that everything could be stacked and quite neat.
I've actually put Dan on a one-in-one-out basis on the shoes.
Whether he will stick to that we will find out.
It's kinda the same with me and clothes.
I collect dagger collar shirts,
so they're a specific shirt from the 1970s
and they have really big pointed collars.
I don't even look at the design the color the size,
I look specifically at the collar
and then I'll see if it fits me.
I have this one.
I think this one has a like Gucci vibe to it.
I think this is the biggest collar I have.
This is actually a smaller one.
I got a green one.
Yeah.
I've lived in this flat for about a year.
Me and my partner have been together for a year and a half,
and quite quickly after we got together I moved in.
Hoxton's great, there is an overground train very close.
There's lots of really cool cafe's and coffee shops.
People are really nice and friendly, and there's lots of cool shops.
We're right close to Shoreditch, so
lots of bars and stuff for a night out.
Hoxton is like one of those places where there's
people that have lived here forever,
like my boyfriend Dan,
or there's people from all over the world.
It's just great.
I think it's really important
to have a place where you can come and kinda
switch off from your day job,
but I'm always so busy so it's really nice to come here
and chill out and relax
at the end of the day, and just switch off from all of that.

Mark Manson - You Will Wish You Watched This Before You Started Watching Self-Help Videos - Duration: 5:57.So don't even try
I know that's not what the infommercials
and self-help seminars tell you
But f**k it..
They are wrong.
I think the big mistake that most people make
is that they assume that there's this
cosmic
pretedermined
purpose
that is out there
We're constantly surrounded by devices
that are always catering
to our whimps
and everything that we're feeling at any moment
and in a consumer culture
The advertising.. Everything is..
Everything that we're presented with is
presented in such a way that..
It's gonna fix something
It's gonna make us feel better
that we're important,
we're special
our dreams deserve to be achieved
and I don't think any of those things
are necessarily true.
Nor should they be.
It's important
when people get kinda sucked into this,
they start feeling as
they deserve all of these things
they're hearing all the time.
Without necessarily
putting in the work or going through the pain
and struggle that is necessary.
Self-help improvement junkies feel like they need to jump on
every new seminar
read all the latest books.
Listen to all of the podcasts
Lift all the weight
Hire all the "life coaches"
For the self-help junkie
the purpose of self-improvement
is not the improvement itself
Rather it's motivated by a subtle form of F.O.M.O
or a FEAR of missing out.
The junkie has this constant 9 to 5 feeling
that there's still some magic tip
or technique or a piece of information out there
that will create their next big breakthrough.
The self-help junkie
may get to experience
the feeling of growth,
transcendence, improvement
expanding consciousness - over and over again.
But just because you feel like you move forward
doesn't mean you actually do.
And self improvement is therefore
in a weird way
ultimately, SELF-DEFEATING.
The only way one
can trully achieve one's potential
to become fully fulfilled
or to become self-actualized
whatever the f**k that means
is to stop trying to be all of those things.
A lot of times we use our
our dreams and our fantasies
as a way of kind of escaping
what we're dealing with right now.
And I think the other thing
about dreams
is that it's actually very hard for us
to know exactly what we want
So it's easy for people to dream..
and envision like some big success.
You know, we all sit around
and have these big visions for ourselves.
That feels good.
That's great.
The problem is that
what actually produces success
is our ability to enjoy
the struggle involved in it.
It's fun to fantasise
but I think it's also important
to just be honest about what dreams are.
They're fantasies.
They're fun.
But a lof of them are motivated
or they can easily be motivated by the wrong reasons.
Most of us we go through life
fantasizing about all of this amazing stuff that's gonna happen to us.
And we're taught to always chase those dreams
chase that big
great moment
And I think that's a little unrealistic
because success comes from
HARD WORK
It comes from dealing with pain and struggle
So we need to actually choose the struggles
that we enjoy, we need to choose the pain
that we enjoy enduring
Growth is not getting rid of problems.
It's simply
getting better problems.
You never get to this point where you don't have problems in your life
You just trade in
your problems for slightly better problems
Like, that's what basically growth is
The key to living a good life isn't getting rid of struggle
It's finding good struggles
Struggles that invigorate you
Struggles that... feel important to you
Struggles that can contribute to the people around you
It's a never ending thing.
