The Difference Between Ranking on Google vs YouTube | Neil Patel - Duration: 5:43.
Has anyone ever told you that you can rank
both on Google and YouTube,
and get double the amount of search traffic?
It's not always double, but it's a lot more search traffic
than you're getting right now.
Hi everyone, I'm Neil Patel,
and today I'm going to share with you
the difference on ranking on Google and YouTube.

Before I get started,
make sure you subscribe to this channel.
Follow, subscribe, whatever it may be,
that way when I give more marketing advice like this,
you'll get notified.
The first difference for you is
Google SEO takes a lot longer than YouTube SEO.
Did you know on YouTube SEO, that if you're gonna rank
you typically rank in the first 24 to 48 hours?
And which when a video does extremely well
in the first day on YouTube,
it does well for the life of the video.
On Google, on the other hand,
if you create a web page or you create a brand new website,
and you optimize it,
you're not gonna get ranking on day one.
You're lucky if you get rankings
in the first three to six months,
it typically takes over a year before you see results.
So the big difference is YouTube, first 24 hours
determines how the video is going to do in the long run.
With Google, what happens in the first year
determines how its going to do in the long run.
The second difference I have for you is authority.
How many of you actually knew that
both YouTube and Google look at authority?
If you knew that, just leave a comment below with yes.
But there's a difference.
With Google, the more authoritative your site is
the more you rank for everything.
YouTube is very similar, but the difference is
your authority in YouTube fluctuates month-over-month.
With Google, if you build links,
you'll continually keep climbing in authority.
Doesn't always mean you're gonna get more search traffic,
it just means over time, year-over-year,
you should in theory do better.
With YouTube, one month you could have amazing authority
and just crush it, but the next month if you release
seven videos and they're all duds and no one likes em,
your authority drastically tanks
and all your videos don't do as well,
compared to what they were performing before.
So with YouTube, you have to continually fight
and keep that authority and redoing everything,
in which you have to keep creating new amazing content,
you have to keep creating amazing engagement,
without that your authority just keeps dying.
But with Google, it keeps going up as you build more links.
The third difference is Google and YouTube
look at two totally different factors
to really determine rankings.
Google looks at links.
The more websites that link to your website,
the better off you're gonna do.
If you don't know how to build links,
the first thing you wanna do
is go find all the people that link to your competitors
and ask em to link to you.
You can use ahrefs.
They have a tool, or technically ahrefs is a tool
but they have a feature, more-or-so within ahrefs,
called Link Intersect.
You can put in your top three competitors and your domain,
and it'll show you all the people that link
to your top three competitors that don't link to you.
This is important because if you reach out to a site
that only links to one of your hundred competitors,
it's really hard to convince em to link to you.
But if you find a site that links to three
of your major competitors, you know at that point
that they're open to linking to you as well.
So you wanna reach out to all of the people
that link to your competitors.
With YouTube, it's all about engagement,
it's not about links.
The longer the watch time,
not just the watch time on your video,
but all the other videos on YouTube,
in which if someone watches a video from your channel
and then watches some other random person's video,
that helps counter your video's score.
So the more engagement you create on YouTube,
the better off you are.
That's why you wanna tell people to like, comment, share,
just like I'm telling you
make sure you subscribe to this channel,
like the videos, comment, it all helps.
And similar to number three,
number four is all about engagement.
Both YouTube and Google love engagement,
but the engagement is different.
With Google, they're looking at how many people
perform a search, click over to your site,
and stay and click over to other pages
versus bouncing back and clicking the back button
and going to the next listing in Google.
If people stay on your site, it tells Google that
hey, they may have found what they're looking for.
With YouTube, engagement isn't measured by bouncing,
it's measured by view time, comments, likes, even dislikes.
Yes, you may not want dislikes, but it still is engagement.
YouTube wants those kind of signals
versus Google wants people to stick around
on your website and not hit the back button.
With YouTube, if someone watches your video
and then they watch someone else's video,
and then another random person's video, it still helps you.
With Google, if someone's on your website,
bounces back and goes to someone else's site after,
that definitely doesn't help you.
And as for the last difference,
well YouTube is easy to rank for, and Google is hard.
In which, anytime you create content or a site,
it'll take you three, six months, a year,
and I know I'm giving you a lot of ranges
with how long it takes to get results on Google,
but that's because some industries
are more competitive than others, but on YouTube
you can see results in the first 30 days, I kid you not.
It's wide open, especially in the English market
or even outside of the United States,
it really is wide open.
I know there's tons of videos on YouTube,
probably over a billion, but trust me, it's wide open.
If you guys started leveraging YouTube right now,
I bet you if you were about to create a brand new website,
and a brand new YouTube channel,
you're more likely to get more search traffic from YouTube
over the next two years than you are from your own website.

Hugh Jackman apparently he's gonna be in the movie according to Google now this
is a very interesting it's very interesting the famous actor Hugh
Jackman it's reported on we got this covered calm the Express which is a big
publication in England and the daily star literally everywhere this story is
everywhere so is it true most likely not why because we have the small fact that
Logan movie spoiler warning if you not watch that movie
Wolverine died in the Logan movie are they going to disrespect that movie just
to get him in Avengers for cameo role no not really and why is this come out just
before the new year it's a very it's very odd timing I mean obviously it's
been trended all over Twitter and it's all over Google for some reason but an
algorithm right if you don't know anything I could study computer science
at University so I know exactly how algorithms work right so I don't
understand how this is getting traction from anywhere because obviously how it
works is the more stories on news websites there are saying the same thing
the higher up the Google Pagerank or the ranking system I guess you could
say it would actually appear so in order for this to actually appear everywhere
we would need a lot of different publications and I've done a bunch of
research about this and no one is really saying anything they are saying that

to appear in Avengers 4 no because it would take away from the whole persona
that he died in the Logan movie which is pretty much my favorite movie of all
time when it comes to combat movie boring is my favorite hero ever I cried
during Logan but what I want Wolverine to be in the MCU at one day yes but it's
too soon so the internet seems to think that Hugh Jackman has an Avengers for
cameo role I mean realistically they've been trying it like Deadpool's been
trying to get Wolverine to do a movie with him then all of a sudden the
Internet is thinking that Wolverine Hugh Jackman is going to appear in Avengers 4
could the adder Hugh Jackman appear in Avengers in the game yes 100%
that is possible but will they stick a Fox character because it's still owned
by Fox at this present moment we all know that the x-men will be coming to
the MCU when the Fox Disney deal is done we're the Kevin Feige this week talking
about that they will be starting to do plans with the x-men in the first six
months and now mere days after we're getting stories saying that few Jackman
Wolverine will be appearing in Avengers 4 in the classical yellow suit no no I
mean if we didn't get the classical got yellow suit in the multiple x-men
Wolverine movies that we had then why really show up in a like in at the end
of the era you got to understand the Avengers end game is going to be ending
the MCU phase 3 it would really under shot oh everything because if Wolverine
was gonna be in it I mean realistic yes they could introduce Wolverine in this
movie because you gotta think is it's comic-book logic so anything is a fair
game but you've got a look at where all these are calls coming from now if you
actually do your research it's coming back we're on the 30th as of recording
this 30th Sunday morning as we record this and literally every it's everywhere
it's it's literally everywhere I I don't understand where it's coming from like I
said there's no end of websites we've got it covered Digital Spy com Screen
Rant news time absolutely everywhere and I didn't really want to make this video
because I know it's not true it's not it's happened but at the same time we
are a news based channel I guess you could say so what is going on here I
think what's happened here is somehow there's a story from somewhere because
you know the fake Deadpool image when you know they're on the baf the bass
technology scene when when AJ designs I believe it was some Instagram he
edited it in Deadpool into that scene and it's a classical image that God I've
seen so many images of Wolverine in the same scene so I think it's a classical
case of someone has reported a story but I can't actually I can't find out where
the whole story is coming from now the most reliable one is coming from Screen
Rant compain Google says through Jackman is going to be in Avengers 4 but if you
look into it there's not really much factual context because like I said it
wouldn't make any business sense for them to chuck any version of Wolverine
even though few Jackman is the greatest he is the goat of playing Wolverine he
is Wolverine it'd be like if anyone else other than Robert Downey jr. took on the
iron Monroe it just wouldn't be accepted it's not like the spider-man role where
any like Tom Dick and Larry can be spider-man Wolverine is is through
Jackman so it is interesting how they do have them listed on Google to be in
Avengers infinity War part 2 which is essentially Avengers 4 it doesn't really
make much sense so if anyone in the comment section can actually let me know
what's going on because I don't really think it's the algorithm that has messed
up because of how the Google Pagerank system works it's not the case of like
on social media when people hashtag stuff that's not how websites rank
things not like Google does not rank trendy subjects based on hashtags that's
not how websites work that's how Twitter Instagram YouTube and everything work
but not really for websites websites work on a much different scale obviously
the Google adamant is that a complex that no one would ever understand but
it's very interesting how Google has essentially trolled everyone I don't
know if the Russo brothers I've spoken to Google and said yeah can
you run a story saying that Hugh Jackman's gonna be in a movie because I
learn a lot more people with actually say but the fact that Kevin
Feige the head of the MTU she literally came out and said in the first six
months because what you got understand that is we still have the Dark Phoenix
movie to come out first and potentially the New Mutants movie I'm not really
sure if that's going to come out but essentially those two movies will end
the Fox x-men franchise before mr. Kevin Feige takes over
so if we have Wolverine appear in Avengers 4 before Dark Phoenix and New
Mutants then that'll be silly and obviously Disney a buying Fox of Fox's
already invested a lot of money time into developing these two movies so it
makes more business sense for Disney to let Fox release these movies first and
then then next manner anyone's game but they're not going to rush to x-men
obviously we've said how obviously Wolverine magneto everyone could be
introduced in the MCU but I find this this story fascinating because Logan
died in the Logan movie aka Wolverine so it would really mess up the timeline
because obviously that was a future story but where would Hugh Jackman
Wolverine fit into the MTU timeline is the MT time I'm even going to fit into
the Fox franchise are they gonna wreak on absolutely everything most likely I
can't really see any of them actors and guys if Hugh Jackman Wolverine is gonna
be the movie then why isn't Deadpool Ryan Reynolds gonna appear in this movie
cuz it would be pretty cool to get Deadpool and Hugh Jackman Wolverine in
Avengers for that we Orson for the fact that Hugh Jackman keeps turning down his
good friend Ryan Reynolds to make a movie with him and then Google is trying
to tell everyone that he's gonna appear in Avengers 4 it is pretty funny
so hopefully the title doesn't doesn't insult you guys too much but it's
everywhere so let's get some common thoughts of what people are actually
thinking about the potentiality of Wolverine appearing in Avengers 4 and
it's come out literally we're in December now the movie comes out April
the 26th four months before like I said the only possibility of this actually
happening guys would be a cameo role of Hugh Jackman
in some capacity that's the only realistic way and cameo roles are
generally secret they're secret remember when some people will try with this in
Thor 3 when we had a new version of Luke obviously I'm friends with all three
when Matt Damon played Loki you know that was kept pretty tight-lipped and
obviously when Brad Pitt played the Vanisher in Deadpool 2 that was kept
pretty tight lipped so my point is even if you Jackman it has got a secret cameo
role in this movie you won't know about it because you meant member Peter
Dinklage character in Avengers infinity war everyone knew he was in the movie
but nobody knew who he was playing - anyway guys please like subscribe and

I Tried Google Photos And I'm Never Going Back To iCloud - Duration: 4:39.
I've been an iPhone user for five years,
I have an iPhone 6s with only 16 gigabytes of storage,
and iCloud is driving me nuts because
I'm at a point where I literally
can't take any more photos or videos.
The only thing I really know about my iCloud
is that it's full.
It tells me that I haven't backed up my phone
in over a year, so it's been a long time.
Yeah, it's constantly a balance of like,
taking an app away so that I can download a new one.
Venmo, especially.
Every single time I download it, I like, do a transaction
and then I delete it immediately,
because that's the only amount of space I have left.
Yeah, I think there's probably three things
that take up my phone the most.
Just a ton of text messages, pictures,
and yeah, there's some videos on there.
I find it hard to keep videos because I just
literally have no space whatsoever left.
I've reached my limit.
And then it drives me nuts too, cause I can't delete
certain other apps that come on an iPhone,
that I never use like the Health app.
I'm never gonna use that in my life.
The only thing I have are the very basics.
I mean, I guess I could delete IMDb, but I don't want to.
I just know there is a better way,
and I'm always getting these messages about
how I haven't backed up my phone,
or how I can't take a picture right now.
And it's the worst when you're in the moment,
like at a concert, or trying to do something,
and just trying to capture a moment that's happening
and then you take one picture then you go
to take a second one and there's like no more storage.
Oh yeah, I get multiple notifications every single day
about how I haven't backed up my phone.
Literally just one second ago someone asked me
to take a video, and so I had a person film it
and then they tried to AirDrop it to me,
but I couldn't accept the AirDrop.
I just had no more space to accept it.
Those things happen all the time to me.
And it's really embarrassing.
And one of the notifications is like
do you want to buy more iCloud storage space,
and I just don't like the idea of doing that.
Cause I don't want to pay in perpetuity for iCloud space.
Yes, to the people who say that I just need
to get more storage, I hear you and I don't disagree,
but I just think that there should be a better way
for people who don't have that much storage
or, you know, can't afford more storage.
I mean I've heard of Google Photos from
people who have Google phones,
and it was only, I think last week, that I heard
that it was available on iOS.
I just had no idea.
So I feel like this could change my life.
So I've been using Google Photos for about a week now,
and it's been great!
The positives were immediate, almost.
I checked my settings and I had suddenly
1.79 gigabytes of space, so almost 2 gigs
that I didn't have before.
So, since switching over to Google Photos
I've re-downloaded a ton of apps.
I have Venmo on my phone now
which I don't have to ever delete,
Uber, I don't have to delete that anymore,
I re-downloaded Slack,
I downloaded that really cool Huji app,
I re-downloaded Twitter, so I get to say
all my random thoughts now.
I can take multiple selfies at once
and then choose the one I want.
A lot of frivolous things, I can now do once again.
I was hanging out with friends on Thursday night,
and I was like, "I will download Seamless,
and I will buy the food for everyone."
So I felt very proud of that moment.
I literally haven't updated any of my apps
for, like at least six months.
So the fact that I had space now,
I was able to update my apps.
I did not know you could do so many things on Instagram
that I didn't know about!
I haven't had a single message telling me
that my storage is about to run out this entire week.
So that's been great.
The search is actually pretty cool.
So I searched, "dog" and all my pictures
from the Costa Rican dog park pulled up.
And then I typed in - so then I gave it a harder test
and typed in, "costume" and all of my Halloween costumes
popped up, which was pretty impressive.
I don't think I miss anything from iCloud.
It's like, it didn't help me do anything
or accomplish any goals, it just really annoyed me
because I was always running out of space.
So no, I don't miss iCloud even a little bit.
And yeah, these are just keepsakes like nice memories, so
I don't really mind the downgraded quality
especially if I don't have to pay for it.
It's all good in my book.
If any iPhone user is in a predicament like me
where they have to keep on deleting things
just to make it all work, this is an amazing option
because it'll just free up space for you.
I feel like I could keep this current phone
which I will admit is very old already
because it only has 16 gigs.
But it makes me feel like I don't have to
update my phone, which is great.
I mean, even if you aren't sure about if you should switch
to Google Photos or you're worried about it,
I would at least check it out.
Because for me the benefits are huge.
So imagine the money you would save just by buying-
or no, imagine the money you'll save
just by downloading a free app.
It's huge!
