Hello everyone, my name is Andrew and welcome to the video.
So today I'd like to talk about thought and creativity.
Can thought be creative?
Now let's begin by already understanding that thought, ego, I, me, is what I am, is what
I'm identified with.
So "I" as thought, can "I" be creative, do something creative or act creatively?
Now I looked up the definition of creativity and to sum it up, it basically has a quality
of newness.
So let's take a step back and look at creation itself.
Man has created toys, automobiles, chairs, I'm just basically picking random things now
that I see in my room, lamps, computers.
So in that sense, man has created that.
Now let's question, has man created the dog, the cat, the oak tree, the ocean, the fish,
a child?
Has Man created that?
So when we come to the question, can thought be creative?
What do we see from that question now?
Are we approaching it with an answer, which is not really exploring the question deeply
or are we simply looking at the question listening to the question, can thought be creative?
When a flower is blossoming, blooming, how can I do that?
How can I make that happen?
So I always think it's funny how we always want to be creative, to act creatively and
yet, thought, is always absolutely of the past.
The only reason we have thought or we are able to think is because we remember something
that we've already experienced or that has already happened, so therefore, memory, thought,
is the movement of memory.
Thought and the action of thought is always incomplete because memory, being the past,
is always incomplete.
Our experiences are never total, our experiences happen and then that's the end of it.
We don't know what is new, because what is new hasn't happened yet.
So therefore, how can thought, which is something we already know, something we already remember,
how can that bring about a quality of newness?
It possibly can't it could only bring something that is old, something that has already happened,
that is incomplete.
So can thought be creative?
Can I be creative?
So I thought this was a very interesting question that I heard in one of Krishnamurti's talks,
because in our daily lives we live and we believe that we can be creative in a sense.
And we try to do this through effort, through will, desire, will, being the strongness of
desire, if I could use that.
So creativity is that part of life that thought has to realize its place and just end, there
is just intelligence.
No thought interfering trying to act out of effort and will, but that is all we are trained
to do is to act from thought and therefore, there's never that creativeness, that quality
of newness.
So that's all I want to talk about in this video, as you can see I got my plant buddies
over here.
I thought it was it would be really cool idea to throw these two awesome...
I almost called them people.
Let's just say their people, awesome peeps, in the video, but I'm gonna be honest, I
haven't really watered them that much.
I feel terrible, but at the same time I do eat plants for a living.
So I'm killing plants and at the same time I'm feeling bad for not watering this particular
plant and killing it and it just doesn't make sense, So a couple of leaves might be looking
kind of yellow in there and kind of brownish, but I think it'll be alright, snake plant,
this plants a beast, like this one could go weeks without water.
It's crazy, it's still super green and super sturdy.
Look at that, look at them muscles flexing.
Alright well, that's it for this video, thank you for watching and listening and I will
see you all next time.
Thank you and have a great day, bye bye.
