Top 10 Best Places to Raise a Family in US.

What makes a city a great place to raise a family?

Our list of the top 10 best places to raise a family in US include those that have low

unemployment, low crime rates, reasonable costs of living, and home prices that aren't

out of the range of most Americans.

Other important points, such as the best schools, plenty of parks and recreational spaces, and

the potential for growth were also included in compiling this list.

Which of these best places to raise a family in US are interesting to you?

Not all towns and cities are created equal.

Below are some of the best cities in the United States to raise a family.

1: San Francisco, California.

Though San Francisco is known for a very high cost of living, it pays to remember that the

paychecks in the area are very high, too.

The city has an inherent beauty that draws people from all over the world.

It also has a great number of recreational areas, serious educational opportunities for

all ages, and plenty of entertainment for anyone.

If the costs are too high, keep in mind that other towns are very nearby, and you can settle

down there and still take advantage of all the great things San Francisco has to offer.

2: Charlottesville, Virginia.

This is the quintessential Southern town, filled with great food on every corner, interesting

entertainment for all ages, access to some of the most beautiful natural recreational

areas in the country, and a broad exposure to the arts and sciences.

Thomas Jefferson called this home, and today the history is rich and clear.

Keep in mind that though this is the home of a major university and only a train ride

away from places like Washington D.C., Charlottesville retains a small-town feel.

3: Omaha, Nebraska.

Many people choose to settle here with their families.

Nebraska is chosen as one of the best places to raise a family in US because it has hundreds

of parks and green space to play in.

The sports fields stretch as far as you can see, and the neighborhoods are full of well-tended

cul-de-sacs where kids can ride their bikes without worry.

Crime rates are very low, the schools are top-notch, and the jobs are readily available

for hard-working parents.

Costs are well below the national average, unemployment is very low, and many major companies

call this area home.

There is also a zoo, a huge children's theater and much more.

4: Stamford, Connecticut.

Though this isn't a cheap place to live, the living is very nice for the price.

Stamford is home to many magnet schools that turn out productive winners in society, the

crime rate is virtually nonexistent, and the idyllic setting is perfect for weekend recreation.

There are big parks, easy commutes to places like NYC, and big wages for those who bring

home the bacon in the family.

In fact, this exclusive enclave is home to many millionaires.

5: Middletown, New York.

This town nestled in the Hudson Valley holds the distinction of offering an amazing amount

of money for education – in fact, Middletown spends more money on education than most areas

in the country.

It is also within an hour of Manhattan, which means parents can work in the big city but

still bring up their kids in a small town.

Zoos, nature centers, amusement parks, and over 34 state parks in the region make this

a great place for entertainment, too.

6: Suwanee, Georgia.

This gorgeous town just outside of Atlanta offers a top-notch education, plenty of green

space and a ridiculously low cost of living – a nice boost to those who earn a big paycheck

in the metro area before making the short drive home.

The schools are highly regarded, and the town makes a point of playtime for kids of all

ages, with a huge fountain meant for kids to wade in and a massive public playground.

Want more?

The Blue Ridge Mountains and all that recreational fun are a short drive away.

7: Madison, Wisconsin.

Just 80 miles from Lake Michigan, this is one of the top college towns in the nation,

and that higher education trickles down to the residents: more degrees, better elementary

and high schools, and more educated teachers are a great draw.

There is a very lively music scene, plenty of play places for the kids, green space,

and festivals and activities sure to delight anyone of any age.

8: Salt Lake City, Utah.

With a very short commute and plenty of jobs available for those who live in the area,

Salt Lake City lives up to its reputation for good living.

The city is astoundingly beautiful, surrounded by mountains, and the educational system is

driven by some of the most prestigious universities in the country.

The outdoor sports industry is huge, cultural experiences are thriving, and those who want

a more religious upbringing can find it here among the many Mormons who call this city

home.

9: East Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A whopping 44 percent of all families here have small children, so it's no surprise

that the public school system is one of the best in the nation.

This enclave is home to numerous parks, plenty of green space, and all sorts of museums and

other fun.

The shore of Lake Michigan is just 30 minutes away, making for an easy day trip on the water.

The costs of living are ultra-low, and the average paycheck is ultra-high.

10: Reno, Nevada.

The median household income might be low, but so is the cost of living, and jobs are

abundant – especially in the casino industry, which pumps money into the economy.

It's a huge outdoor recreation area, offering year-round play in the mountains and green

spaces that have become a hallmark of this town.

It has a small-town feel, but the casinos and downtown areas give it all the pizzazz

of a much larger place.

9 Times Mary-Kate and Ashley Left Us All Completely, Utterly Baffled - Duration: 2:12.

As much as we love Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the famous twins have been, well, a tad eccentric

over the past few years.

From their questionably changing looks to showing up to events looking like they're

drowning in their own couture, it's hard not to look at the former Full House stars and

not have questions.

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley have admitted that they prefer their private lives.

The ladies run two high-end fashion brands, The Row and Elizabeth and James.

Unlike other celebrities with fashion lines, the twins are actually highly respected in

the industry.

Many of their clientele are rich high-society types who are all significantly older than

the Olsens.

In fact, it's for this reason that many of their most loyal customers have no idea that

Mary-Kate and Ashley used to be child stars.

Considering the women have been saddled with that label all their lives, it's probably

refreshing for them to step into a whole new world where fans don't ask them to sing "Brother

for Sale."

These days the twins live very private lives and don't even go on social media.

"We don't dive into that whole world [of social media] and we don't have Facebook, we've

never been connected to our fans in that way," Ashley told The EDIT in 2017.

"We've stayed quite sheltered in that sense."

Unlike stars like the Kardashians whose businesses are reliant on constant visibility in the

public space, the Olsens are the complete opposite.

They've managed to be quite successful by revealing very little about themselves.

Although we've attempted to answer most questions fans have about the twins, there are still

some aspects of the ladies' lives that are a mystery.

Below, all the strange moments that still leave us baffled.

The Olsen twins have changed quite a bit from their New York Minute days.

Since establishing their fashion houses in 2006, the twins' looks have become more high

fashion and eccentric.

To top that off, many fans have pointed out that their faces are starting to look different,

too.

The tiny fashion moguls have been tight-lipped on the matter, which has only increased the

speculation.

UNICEF USA: "In the U.S., thousands of kids are trafficked" — FBI Agent - Duration: 1:01.

Right here in the U.S., thousands of kids are trafficked and prostituted.

If you think these aren't our kids, you're wrong.

These are our kids, our friends' kids, our neighbors' kids, kids with low self-esteem

who are just looking to belong, that are easy prey to pimps and traffickers.

My friend, she was really upset because she was like

"I think he's really going to be upset if we don't have any money."

And so we had to keep going in trucks.

And sometimes we would stop, and we would cry.

These children are cut off from their families.

They suffer violence and sexual abuse.

I just wanted to die, and I started to just think maybe I deserved this

for doing this to my parents and myself.

These kids are not criminals, they are victims.

We all have to help them and give them what they need to go from being victims to survivors.

Why YouTuber Logan Paul Should Really Worry Us - Duration: 6:26.

Why YouTuber Logan Paul Should Really Worry Us

On the last day of the year, a great disturbance rippled through the Internet.

Well, a certain part of the Internet: the section that pays attention to the exploits

of brash YouTube celebrities like Logan Paul, a 22-year-old mega-vlogger who has the attention

of some 15 million subscribers.

On December 31, Paul uploaded a video from his travels in Japan, detailing his trek into

the famous Aokigahara "suicide woods" near Mount Fuji, where he found a man who

had apparently recently hanged himself.

Paul showed the body, with his face blurred out, and filmed his own reaction, at first

stunned, and then . . . well, one might say amused.

It didn't go over well.

By New Year's Day, criticism of Paul was widespread and he issued the first of two

apologies.

Though, it came off as another crass bit of self-promotion, a fact pointed out in stringent

fashion by the Queen of the North herself, Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner:

@LoganPaul You're an idiot.

You're not raising awareness.

You're mocking.

I can't believe how self-praising your "apology" is.

You don't deserve the success (views) you have.

I pray to God you never have to experience anything like that man did.

Wagons circled, attack mobs formed, and the Internet—or, again, a certain area of it—engaged

in a battle of outrage and defense.

People on one side were appalled that Paul would post such a video, while also maybe

a little glad that he'd given them another concrete thing to throw at him.

And his fans—the "Logang," as Paul calls them—entrenched themselves in loyal service

of their pranking, stunting, bragging hero.

It's a familiar narrative.

Though a particularly egregious example of witless YouTube content, Paul's video still

seems likely to be only a minor and soon-forgotten bump on the way to whatever YouTube singularity

we're headed toward.

It almost feels like a waste of time, then, to get angry at Paul's video in particular.

Yes, it's awful and exploitative and is a sterling example of what makes Paul—and

his younger, but equally odious brother, Jake Paul—so distressing.

But Paul is really just a symptom of a larger problem—one that we'll all have to reckon

with soon enough.

Or, really, probably should be already.

Are bros taking over the Internet?

Well, watching any of the Paul brothers' videos, you might be inclined to think that.

(Watch Logan brag about his year.

And then watch his brother do it.)

But there are also all those Nazi dweebs and men's-rights toads racking up views and

swaying people to their terrible causes, and I wouldn't exactly call them bros.

We should still resist most bro culture where we can, absolutely.

But it's only one head of the hydra.

What's really a problem is something a bit more intangible, more ineffable.

It's the sense that YouTube has created not just its own economy—we've heard plenty

about that already—but a kind of ethical relativism that, even in the intense glare

of mass criticism like Paul got yesterday, seems almost invincible to any outside influence.

That's probably hyperbole, but look at Logan Paul's second apology video, posted today:

https://youtu.be/QwZT7T-TXT0

Paul seems teary and contrite, and probably in some senses he genuinely is.

But there's more than a glimmer of inauthenticity here, just as there was in his first apology.

That may simply be because Logan Paul is an egomaniac post-adolescent who doesn't yet

have a sense of anything beyond his own nose.

But it also shows that the larger and more ardent one's legion of supporters grows—a

self-selecting horde that will not brook criticism of their idol in any form—the less and less

external condemnation, or any kind of moral urging, really matters.

Sure, almighty brands could back away, but they haven't been terribly principled about

that in the past, and anyway, people like the Pauls are creating their own revenue streams

that seem more self-sustaining and less reliant on cozy big-name partnerships.

What will really get to the Paul brothers is plain old time.

Their fans are devoted, but they're young.

While I've no doubt some of them will stick with the boys as they age together, and new

fans will be brought into the fold, an arc like this is rarely a long one.

Strains of popular obnoxiousness beloved by teens never really thrive very long in any

one form.

So, if we are specifically worried about Logan and Jake Paul and their empire of shit, I

think we can relax a little.

What should remain troubling is that they will be replaced.

And quite likely by more and worse.

YouTube culture—perhaps social media in general—exists in a state of entropy.

Gamergate gave way to the alt-right, just as whatever you want to call these fratty

white boys aping Jackass and appropriating dated hip-hop poses will probably lead to

some other horror.

Because there hasn't actually been much done to guide or, frankly, police YouTube

by anyone who might have once had the power to do so—other than the creators themselves.

Which of course was the egalitarian dream of the platform, one that once sounded nice,

as some utopian earlier-Internet ideal.

But just as Twitter has shown—in its descent from a forum for amusing one-liners to a hellish

bog of harassment and Nazism—when left nearly entirely to its own devices, the central spirit

of the Internet hive mind, its great howling id, tends toward darkness.

That may be beyond anyone's control, really.

Sure, Twitter could do more to, say, not verify Nazis.

But beyond that, there is something alarmingly impenetrable about these thriving, metastasizing

cult-communities.

Hand-wringing think pieces may shift or rouse the discourse for those on the outside of

all of it, but they likely won't reach the hearts and minds of those immersed and intoxicated.

Or, at best, it will all sound like Charlie Brown's teacher, honking away in vague tones

that communicate nothing but an atomized distance.

More fuel is thrown onto that self-contained fire every day, with young audiences receiving

their inculcation while parents and guardians figure it all unknowable but harmless.

South Korea, U.S. working closely for joint response to North Korea: U.S. State Dept. official - Duration: 2:10.

The markets in Korea were all smiles on the first trading session of 2018,... but the

Korean won jumped sharply against the greenback on Tuesday,... reaching an over three-year

high,... sending a chill down the spines of local exporters.

The local currency ended at 1,061-point-2 won against the dollar,... a move believed

to have been strongly influenced by the strengthening Chinese yuan and the North Korean leader's

surprise proposal for inter-Korean talks.

Experts here point to a potential dip in outbound shipments over the stronger Korean won this

year,... especially as South Korea's exports have been heavily weighted toward the semiconductor

sector.

They also say Korean exporters are most competitive in the global market when the local currency

is above 1,130 won to the dollar.

The history of third parties in the US - Duration: 2:29.

The United States has a long, checkered history with third parties.

In theory, a gazillion political parties can exist and even get on the ballot, but we've

seen, time and again, most of these efforts fizzle out quietly or flame out spectacularly

without leaving any real mark on the system.

Things like the Green Party, the Pirate Party and the Rent is Too Damn High Party are novelty

items at this point.

But flipping through the scrapbook of elections past shows certain outside-the-mainstream

candidates can gain a foothold if not win the grand prize.

Check out the greatest hits from UVA. 1912: After leaving the White House, Teddy Roosevelt

ran as a member of the Bull Moose Party, getting 27 percent of the vote.

But it pulled support from his old affiliation, Republicans, leading to a Democratic win.

Strom Thurmond, a famous segregationist, ran under the Dixiecrat banner in 1948, but he

lost big time.

George Wallace, another segregationist from the South, bucking the Democratic Party got

13.5 percent as an "American Independent."

And in the modern era, the most successful third-party candidate was billionaire Ross

Perot in 1992, running as an independent.

He'd buy full blocks of prime-time network TV to share his ideas and charts.

In the end, he captured 19 percent, pulling support from his old nemesis George H.W. Bush,

cutting his presidency short to one term and handing the Oval Office to Bill Clinton, a

Democrat.

At other times, a come-from-behind candidacy has worked.

And PBS writes that outsiders have also led to important social and legal changes.

At this point, Republicans and Democrats have a stranglehold on the White House, Congress,

infrastructure, money and fundraising.

But some third parties are hoping to revive the centuries-old American tradition of staking

new ground and moving the political world with them.

How to pronounce BEER, BEAR & BEARD (UK & US) | English Pronunciation - Duration: 3:37.

Hi guys, welcome back to English with Max. Today I just have a short video for you.

We are going to look at the pronunciations of these three words.

We'll look at both the British and American pronunciations. Before I continue,

remember that you can follow me on social media,

don't forget to share this with your friends,

and remember to hit the red subscribe button if you want to be updated on new videos.

Okay, let's first look at this word.

In the UK and Australia the standard pronunciation is: beer. Be-er. Beer.

This is a bottle of beer.

You do not pronounce the R unless the next word starts with a vowel sound.

For example: I would like beer and chips for dinner. Beer and chips.

Because I'm a healthy person.

In standard American pronunciation, the R is always pronounced. Beer. Beer.

Now let's look at this word. In British pronunciation it's: bear. Bear.

A koala is not a bear. Like with "beer", in British pronunciation you only pronounce

the R if the following word starts with a vowel sound. In American pronunciation

you always pronounce the R. Bear. Bear.

Now, how do you think this word is pronounced?

You might think that it's pronounced "behd" or "behrd", but it is actually closer to

the first word: beer. In fact it is exactly the same as "beer", but with a D on the end: beard.

I know, it doesn't really make sense. If you don't know what a

beard is, it's the hair that some men allow to grow on this part of the face.

At the moment, particularly in English-speaking countries, they're quite

fashionable, especially among hipsters.

Just so I don't offend too many people, I have nothing against short,

well-maintained beards, but these long ones like this that look like you could

store food in them for later... Well, to each his own.

Anyway, the British pronunciation is: beard.

The American pronunciation is: beard. Beard.

Thanks very much for watching. If you found this useful,

please click the thumbs up, and don't hesitate to leave a comment.

Bye-bye.

South Korea, U.S. working closely for joint response to North Korea: U.S. State Dept. official - Duration: 2:05.

Going back to the unexpected New Year's speech from up North.

The U.S. State department announced, Seoul and Washington are closely cooperating on

a unified response to Pyongyang.

Pundits and experts still analyzing the statement... for now believe it is very pro-South Korea...

and clearly anti-American.

Lee Ji-won helps us read between the lines.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's New Year's speech sparked a flurry of speculation and

analysis worldwide, especially within the U.S..

Amid concerns Kim is attempting to drive a wedge between the alliance with his 'pro-South

Korea, anti-U.S. stance',...

Voice of America reported Tuesday that an official from the U.S. State Department said

it's working closely with Seoul on formulating a joint response to the North.

And to South Korea's welcoming of Kim's comment on his willingness to send athletes to the

PyeongChang Olympics in February,.. the official said the U.S. is certain the South will host

a safe and successful Winter Games.

This comes as Kim warned the U.S. that the entire mainland is within the range of his

nuclear weapons,... while expressing North Korea's will to take part in PyeongChang 2018

and that both Koreas can meet urgently on the Olympics.

But many North Korea watchers say the young leader's two-track approach is a ploy to shake

the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Bloomberg addressed Kim's willingness to join the Winter Olympics as an apparent olive branch
