Youtube daily or May 29 2018

Hey whats up you guys? My name is Emily and in this video I'm going to show you

how to make summer magnets in three different ways.

Lets get on with the video!

For the first magnet, you want to get a piece of cardboard

and you want to draw out a Popsicle on the cardboard.

Then you want to cut it out.

When you're done cutting it out you can paint the Popsicle

any color that you want and you want to wait for it to dry.

When the paint is dry, you can get a Popsicle stick

and if you need you cut the stick so it can fit onto the Popsicle.

I cut my Popsicle stick with wire cutters but you could just break it with your hands.

Then you can glue the stick onto the back of the Popsicle

and then you can glue a magnet on the back.

If you want you can paint a face onto the Popsicle

and you can tie a bow out of ribbon and glue a bow onto it.

For the second magnet, you want to roll out one or more colors of Polymer clay

that's similar to any color of fruit in between two pieces of parchment paper.

You can also use wax paper.

Then you want to cut the shape of the fruit

that you want to make out of the clay

and make sure it's bigger than the magnet your going to use.

I made a strawberry so I made the fruit out of red clay and the leaves out of green clay.

When you're done cutting out your fruit you can smooth out the edges with your finger.

Then you can attach any details like the leaves to the fruit.

When you're done with your fruit

you can lay it out on a piece of tin foil or a piece of parchment paper

on a baking tray and then you can put your clay onto it.

Then you can bake the clay at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.

You do want to check the clay's instructions before baking the clay.

When the clay is done baking, you want to take the clay

out of the oven and you want wait for it to cool off.

When the clay has cooled off you can paint more details onto the fruit.

I used a pencil as a paintbrush to paint the yellow seeds onto the strawberry.

When the paint is dry or when the clay has cooled off

you can glue on a magnet onto the back.

For the last magnet, you want to draw a image of anything that you want onto a piece of paper

and you want to make sure you make it big because your image will shrink.

Then you can trace the image on a piece of Shrinky Dink plastic with a permanent marker.

You can also color the image now or you can wait until after baking it.

When you're done tracing your image you can cut it out.

When you're done cutting it out you want to put onto a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil.

Then you can put it in the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit

and wait for the plastic to curl

and flatten back out and wait 30 more seconds

until taking the Shrinky Dinks out of the oven.

Make sure you check the Shrinky Dink instructions before baking.

When you're done baking your Shrinky Dinks you can take it out of the oven

and then you can quickly flatten the plastic with a piece of cardboard.

When the Shrinky Dink has cooled off you can paint it.

When the paint is dry you can glue a magnet on the back.

and that's how you make these summer magnets!

In the comments down below let me know what you think about these magnets

and if you like this video give this video a thumbs up

and subscribe to see more DIYs.

I will see you in the next video. Bye!

Looking for a gorgeous villa in Arabian Ranches or Dubai Hills Estate? This Zen agent is on it. - Duration: 7:53.

Welcome I'm Ewa from propertyfinder.ae and it's my pleasure to introduce you to this month's

winner of the outstanding agent award for Dubai, Jade Morris from Dacha Real Estate. Hello, Jade

Thank you having me! Thank you so much for coming to our headquarters here in Media City. Tell our audience

How long have you been in the industry and what area do you specialise in?

I've been in the industry for about seven years, a year and a half approximately was in London and

Five and a half years here with Dacha Real Estate in Dubai. I

specialise in Dubai Hills Estate and Arabian Ranches.

So in your winning entry you said that "you like to build strong relationships

with your clients."

Can you give us a specific example?

One in particular that really sticks with me is a client of mine from Arabian Ranches that took a year and a half to close

yes,

I stuck with them, they were nervous, market is slightly soft

So we were watching the prices kind of come down slightly

So they were waiting for the right opportunity

Which I was obviously looking at for constantly and I managed to find it for them

And finally, they closed after a year and a half.

What about property owners? How do you ensure a good relationship with them?

When it comes to property owners

I'm from the offset very very transparent and honest with them if I believe their property is overpriced or we're coming into the market slightly

Higher, I don't waste time in waiting just to see over several months

I prove to them from the beginning that the price is too high

And then from there they once they realise that I'm telling the truth

The trust is built and constantly whether the news is good or bad. I'm always in touch with them.

How long does it normally take you to find the right home for your clients? Every client is different

I mean for off-plan in Dubai Hills Estate some of the deals I'm closing in 24 hours

Some are taking one week. It's a price sensitive area

So if the client is looking it's more about just pinpointing on the map and they're ready to go for ready property in Arabian Ranches

Of course, it takes longer a client will enter the market, Arabian Ranches is such a big area

They will go through several different agencies

They will they will make sure they're moving on the right property

That can take anything up to a year and a half, as it was with my last client. So anything from one day to a year and a half

From the consumer surveys that we send out to Propertyfinder users

we know that this next question is super important to them because the last thing they want to get

Emails or WhatsApp messages with properties and that are irrelevant to them. So how do you help clients

find exactly

what they're looking for?

From the moment I speak to a client before I meet them before I go out and look any viewings at all

I have a very long list of questions that I ask them

Some clients don't like it, some clients call you and they just want to view the property immediately

They're standing outside their unit, and they just want to see it

I will not do the viewing. Sounds crazy

But I won't go to meet them because I don't want to waste their time, my other time, or the seller's time

So I have an extremely long list

I will ask them some some clients will call and they think they want that property when actually they don't

so for instance, if they call me for a property that does not have a maid's room but they have a maid

I won't waste their time by going to view that property. We'll get there and they say "oh, I need a maid's room"

So no, I have a really really long so

Once I know exactly what their requirements are

Then I will pinpoint a few options take them out and then take it from there

You also said that a lot of your clients and chose to close their deals with you

Even though they were working with other agents

and that's due to you being "transparent and efficient"

Which I think are two very important qualities in this industry

And so why else should house-hunters looking for their next home at propertyfinder.ae choose you as their agent?

I think that house-hunters looking for their new property should give me a call

Because I am very efficient. I know my markets inside out, Dubai Hills Estate,

Arabian Ranches, I have detailed knowledge about the area

So maybe I can also educate them. I am definitely efficient and I actually have a passion for my job. So

Whereas someone else might switch off the photo to seven o'clock and evening will not have their phone on a Friday because they're too

Busy with their own personal life. This is literally my life as sad as it sounds so I'm always on the phone

So if someone calls me at eleven o'clock in the evening, if I'm awake I'll answer the phone so they can

always get me. Okay

How does working with Marcelo your dedicated Account Manager at

Propertyfinder help you in your day to day job

and winning more enquiries?

Marcelo always recommends us the best products.

So I have quite few Premiums. I have Features and obviously we're

strongly with the Verifieds,

so we like to verify all our units to make sure we stand out from other agents, all of which has

Come from the recommendations of Marcelo.

We're coming up to our last two questions

And that one's one of my favourites actually, what would you do if money were no object?

Now I hear that

You're a big fan of practicing yoga and meditation which is something I relate to a lot personally

And we actually have two Account Managers here at propertyfinder.ae who are also

Amazing yoga instructors. So a big shout out to Anita and Hanin!

So tell us what would you do if you could do anything?

If money was no object, it's not a hard question for me at all

I would make sure all my family and very close friends are taken care of

I would also look after charities and I would sit on a beach and practice yoga

And final question, your answer actually resonated with me a lot as well

if you could ask UAE's Ministry of State for Happiness for

Just one thing what would it be? What would you request?

If I could ask for one thing, it would be that all companies with high stress levels

meditate for ten minutes a day.

Whichever company it is whatever business you're in because I just think that it impacts people so well

I can see that you're super passionate

And really experienced and dedicated

Congratulations on winning the

Award and I wish you all the successes this month, this year, and in the future and hope to see you soon!

Thank you for having me!

So! Do you have what it takes to win next and

This or That Book Tag! - Duration: 3:11.

Hi everyone, it's Farah and today I'm going to be doing a fun, simple, lighthearted book tag.

It is called This or That Book Tag, and this was created by

According to where I got the link from, created by Ayunda @ Tea and Paperback. So I will leave that link down below

so you guys can check it out and

Let's get started with the questions. Number one is "Reading on the couch or reading in bed?"

I tend to like to read in bed more because usually I read before I go to sleep or

I just lie down more comfortably on my bed, but I do spend a fair share of time reading on my window seat,

Which is kind of the couch in my room, but I'd have to go with bed. Number two, "Main character: male or female?" I

Will have to go for male because I read so many books with female protagonists and I am a female myself

So it always feels like when I'm reading a male

Perspective or it's from a male point of view or protagonist

I tend to enjoy those because I'm most surprised at the

Thought process essentially. I don't know.

I just enjoy them more. Number three is, "Sweet or salty snacks while reading?" and I would have to say I don't

Really eat when I read but if I must it's salty, but I don't really eat when I read to be honest.

I just I can't control everything. Next question, "Trilogies or quartets?" I like trilogies more. They feel more

arc-y. "First person or third person POV?"

I like third person view because I'm writing my story in third person POV and

There are so many different types of third person POV that the more I read it the more I enjoy

discovering the different kinds and types and identifying what they are and I just

Enjoy them more. "Libraries or bookstores?"

I would love to be a library person, but we don't have a lot of libraries here

and so I'd have to go with bookstores because I do like owning the books and

I don't know if anybody else feels that way

But you know that feeling when you enter a bookstore and you're super excited and your stomach is rumbling

And and you've got butterflies, and it's just this feeling where it's kind of–

Does anyone feel that way or is it just me?

I feel like it's a phenomena. I feel like it's a thing.

"Black or white book covers?"

I again I don't really have a preference

But if I had to choose I would say black only because white will probably get fingerprints and stuff.

They get they get dirtier quicker.

And finally "Character-driven or plot-driven?

I would have to say

Character-driven all the way every day all the time. I love character-driven stories. I love

Going on this journey with characters and seeing how they change.

It doesn't have to be action-paced or anything, which is how plot driven books usually are, just circumstances, but

Character-driven all the way.

So again, I found this book tag.

I wasn't tagged by anyone and I thought it would be a nice fun simple one to do

So if you guys want to do it go ahead and do it. I tag all of you. It's fun. It's light-hearted,

Check it out. Okay. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this video

Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you with my next one. Bye!

Ask Me Anything About Passing a Road Test, Driving or CDL Jobs :: Smart Sunday #40 - Duration: 49:38.

Hi there smart drivers. Rick with smart drive test with the new computer. It

finally came. We finally got started so yes and I'll make sure that I'm not

looking at the microphone I'm looking over here at the camera and talking to

you the smart drivers who were here on the channel and yes and there I sit on

the computer screen with the Funny grin on my face I'm looking to get started

here and the color is a little bit off I'm just gonna adjust the color here a

little bit and see if I can get that going for you but yeah just bear with us

on the technical challenges that we're having here so what do we need to do

just bump up the contrast bump up that a little bit there we go bump that up save

that should that should fix that there we go so new computer iMac pro we're

very excited about this and Peter's here hi Peter and what else did I get done

today I managed to finish up the defensive driving course and it for the

for the next two weeks the defensive driving course for anybody who purchased

the defensive driving course it's $9.99 for two for the first two weeks it's out

there a very good resolution thank you so much tool as I said yes the new

computer finally for price three times tried to

get it going so yes I'm very happy about the new resolution the old computer the

processing just would not keep up so Corey's here bricks four wheels that's

Corey Corey is doing the moderating and good evening Corey thanks everybody I

apologize for getting going here Brett late just transferring all the

information over to the new computer yes if you had any videos I'm backing around

the corner yes live in the video you're looking for is two-point reverse turn is

the video that you're looking for and that is a maneuver that they could

potentially ask you on a road test so it's called two-point reverse term and

that's essentially backing around a corner

Silas is here teaching road signs and right of way on a four-way stop yes I do

Silas there's a general overview of right-of-way there's a video

on two-way stops and there's a video on four-way stops and Coryell find that

information for you Cory is really good at that

Arion with people I've always wanted to be a city bus driver do you have any

tips for me yes Arion there is a video are not a video but a livestream rather

that I did a few weeks ago and Cory might be able to find that for you it's

on becoming a transit bus driver and what you need to do in order to become a

transit bus driver some of the things you should consider and should think

about now Ariane is there anyone in your family that is a transit bus driver

currently that would work as a role model or as a mentor for you because

that'll help you out too and the other thing I'll just say Arian about transit

bus drivers that's a really good question about working as a city bus

driver one of the things that they've moved towards now is not so much about

being able to drive the bus but really what they're looking for in terms of

being a transit bus driver is they're looking for attitude they're really

looking for you to be able to work there and you know have a great attitude have

great customer service that's really what it's about because the rest of it

they can they can teach so driving lessons by Big Macs Sam this is Sam

Arroyo Sam is from the Bronx in New York City there and is a driving instructor

in teaches there so if anybody has any questions and actually Sam you're not

late I was late tonight because I was transferring over the data for the new

computer I'm very excited about the new computer and for those who you don't

know the story about the computer I purchased a new iMac in the fall so it

was in late October I got it up and running in November the I had troubles

with the computer ever since I first got it it crashed three times and finally

the last time it crashed it had to go back into the store cuz they said they

just couldn't help me over the over the phone in terms of customer support

support and finally the last time it went in I said to Apple I said I don't

want it back I said I want you to take it back give me a refund for me for it

and I will upgrade to an iMac Pro which the iMac Pro is just came out in

December and if you look got them they're a really really

high-end computer so so that's what I'm live-streaming to you tonight I was

trying to get that transferred over with the backup and that sort of thing and I

got it up and I got it working in time to do the livestream so I'm a half an

hour late so you're not late Sam it was actually me tonight so crazy and lazy

when turning left should you be scanning for stop signs

across the way to see if you should yield to through traffic you should

definitely be scanning the cross traffic crazy to be not so much looking for

through traffic but what you should be looking for is looking for pedestrians

who might be crossing the street on the cross traffic that's what you need to be

doing so oh yeah ah yes match rev now you're gonna hear my little pet peeve

about match revving okay there are some channels here that will tell you that

match revving is something that's going to improve your driving that's baloney

absolutely baloney rev-matching has absolutely no place in everyday driving

of a manual transmission okay the purpose of rev matching it is a

racing technique and the purpose of Reb matching of using your heel toe on the

brake and throttle at the same time is to throttle up shift down and maintain

the same speed and the reason for that is when you go into a corner in a

rear-wheel drive vehicle when you're racing at high speeds when you brake you

lift the back end of the vehicle up so what race drivers are doing is when they

Rev match they're throttling up they're maintaining the same speed in a lower

gear and then they're maintaining the equilibrium in the vehicle so the back

end doesn't lift up because if the back end lifts up at a high speed in a corner

what's gonna happen is you're gonna get what's called over steering where the

back end of the vehicle kicks out and that's what racecar drivers are

preventing when they Rev match in everyday driving just slow the vehicle

down and then just shift down it has absolutely no place in everyday driving

and these race car drivers who are rev-matching in a manual transmission on

a track have spent thousands and thousands and thousands of hour

rev-matching I have been double-clutching for ever since I was in

my early 20s actually probably before that when I was on the farm

double-clutching nan synchromesh transmissions and even I don't get it

right in my car because my little Honda there when you're going up a hill you've

got to come down and you've got a double clutch to get a nice smooth shift on a

hill to get it going so rev-matching if you're just driving

everyday manual transmission you don't need to rev match okay alright so an art

practising for the DMV in Lincoln Nebraska class Oh license

how should I adjust my speed to make a left turn or right turn at a signal or a

stop sign so anarta if you're not coming to a stop

on a right turn you have to get down to sort of eight to ten miles an hour and

on a left turn it's going to vary depending on how big the intersection is

on a left turn you're going to be anywhere from sort of 12 to 25 miles an

hour on a left turn and again on a right turn you're gonna be sort of 10 to 12

miles an hour and you want to get to that speed before you start making the

turn that's going to really help you out in terms of your turns get your speed

first and then work the steering wheel in higher vehicles

commercial vehicles when you're shifting a non synchronous transmission those

types of things we always tell students get into the gear that you're going to

go around the corner in before you start going around the corner in that way it's

going to allow you to have more control when you're going around the corner

alright this video on right-of-way is recommended learning to drive and

determine the right-of-way give right away to others there you go so that's

all good yes and how to learn to drive there are a couple of exercises in that

video that are really good and I come back to again I say this again and again

and again to students if you're asking me how much you have to turn the

steering wheel or when you should start turning a steering wheel on a corner you

really should go back to the parking lot and do the exercises in that video and

master the primary controls of the vehicle the steering wheels the brake

and the throttle once you master those three controls and you can back up

around corners you can back up in a straight line for a

long distance you can background corners and those types of things then carry on

and start moving out onto the road but you really got to master the

fundamentals of driving before you start going out onto the roadway okay Liam

what is your preference for a hand over hand versus hand to hand steering the

taught us hand to hand because of airbags and driver's ed but I really

dislike it okay Liam yeah I don't like hand to hand either there just isn't

enough control and you can't move the steering wheel fast enough I am really a

hand-over-hand person and I did they give you a reason

Liam about why hand-to-hand they felt that that had something to do with

airbags the only thing that I have heard about airbags is that we've moved our

hand position to eight and two which is in my mind uncomfortable and does not

allow you to have good control over the vehicle and eight and two is because of

the airbags come deploying out and what happens is you get forearm injuries you

get broken forearms and those types of things so that's the only other reason

so so yeah hand to hand unless the driving Authority where you're gonna

take your test requires you to do hand at hand for the purposes of the test I

would just do hand hand over hand okay otherwise you know just move on with it

all right okay so we got all that an artist

question we got that Sam is here so Sam here's a question for you Sam if you're

still there did you notice a big downturn in the number of students and

driving tests that you were doing at the end of April like sort of through the

the last three weeks of April and into the first week of May and now it's

starting to pick up again once we're getting into the end

early June because I'm just trying to gauge the viewership on my channel

versus what's really happening sort of in driver education and the number of

students and whatnot who are actually getting a license so have you noticed a

downturn in April there in terms of driver's tests and whatnot there we got

okay random random guy does it hurt when you get hit by near near what it got cut

off there oh okay if you get hit by an airbag it airbags

when they first appeared on high in cars and when they first came out in the late

1990s there were quite a number of people who in fact were being injured by

airbags because what happened was is they they didn't have the timing of the

airbags quite right what was happening was is that the collision was occurring

the person was coming forward and as the person was coming forward the airbag was

still deploying and it was still inflating so what happened was the the

person's body was coming forward like this even if they were restrained by a

seatbelt their head and whatnot was coming forward the airbag was coming out

and you were getting a collision and oftentimes for many people with airbags

in the early adoption of airbags on cars people would get broken under their eyes

their skull would their I this part of their face would be broken their nose

would be broken and they would sustained serious injury to their face now airbags

are much better because now what's happened is they've got the timing right

on the airbags so when the person is coming forward the airbag has already

fully deployed and when the person's face hits the airbag the airbag is

beginning to deflate so airbags are much much better now than what they were when

they first came out in the late 1990s uh

yeah Sam I had a way it was odd because I was doing Veda in April doing a video

every day in April and I was thinking that the views on my channel we're gonna

go up when in fact my channel just tanked in April so it was pretty pretty

disappointing doing all of those videos on Veda and then just see the tip

channel tanked so yeah that's what happened okay food what is the perfect

time to warm up a normal car and start driving

Fuad you need 15 seconds you need the oil pressure to come up and as soon as

the oil pressure comes up you can start driving now of course the vehicle is the

engine is still cold it's not warmed up so only drive it moderately for about 15

or 20 minutes until the all the operating temperature comes up and then

you can start really whaling on it after a while and racecar drivers and other

car enthusiasts will tell you that as well don't start gassing on it until it

actually warms up but you but you only need the oil pressure to come up and

then you can start driving it moderately if it's a fuel-injected vehicle okay

Liam they teach three and nine and said with hand over hand your arms are

crossing over the steering wheel more so there's a higher likelihood for injury

okay that Liam that makes sense that definitely makes sense because that's

one of the things that we teach in martial arts if somebody's got their

arms crossed like this we grab this arm here and put it over but you know

there's there's a possibility for injury but I think I think it's I think it's

low I don't I'm not sure I completely buy into that Sam what do you think

about that in terms of hand over hand and airbags and that idea now that we

should use hand to hand or what did you call it milking you called it milking

the cow for hand to hand there okay Jonathan hi I'm drivers test next month

what do you recommend before going okay so Jonathan if you haven't done the

basic maneuvers already learning the primary controls and being very

comfortable with the primary controls look at that video on learning to drive

and do those video those exercises in that video as well for a driving test

there's always four components doesn't matter where you're taking your road

test in the world or what class of licence it is speed management space

management observation communication those are the four fundamentals of any

road test so speed management posted speed limit

or the flow of traffic whichever is less that's how fast you drive the vehicle

space management don't get near any fixed objects don't get near other road

users stop the correct stopping positions at stop sign

intersections before the crosswalk before the stop line before where the

two roads meet if there isn't a crosswalk line or a stop line stop in

traffic so that you can see the tires in front of you on the vehicle in front of

you make them clear contact with the pavement and two to three second

following distance for space management ok so then you've got observation you

have to observe so you have to have a good scanning pattern in place you're

looking far down the road you're checking your mirrors your center mirror

far down the road wing mirrors far down the road check your your instrument

panel and then far down the road and when you're doing reverse maneuvers

you're gonna do a 360 degree scan before you move back and then when you're

backing up every vehicle length you're gonna stop the vehicle and look forward

and make sure you're straight in those types of things and then finally every

time you turn the vehicle you're going to to shoulder checks one approximately

just before you start the manoeuvre and then a half a block from the turn you're

gonna do another one and then immediately before you start moving so

you're going to do two shoulder checks for every time you move the vehicle

laterally so those are the four components of any road test okay what

else so that's basically it so then there's another video here on a mock

road test and Koryo get that up for you have a look at that as well Jonathan

that'll give you a good overview of what you need to do ok Silas why should you

why should you warm a car up and how can you tell when it's warm

ok so Silas you don't need to warm the car up you don't need to let it sit

there an eyelid you only need to let it run for about 15 seconds and then you

can drive off you can tell when it's warm when the when the engine

temperature gauge gets up to operating temperature and you'll get used to the

car and where the engine temperature is sitting and if that engine temperature

goes too high you need to shut the vehicle off because you're going to blow

off the engine because it's too hot and it won't run properly ok now even though

that engine temperature gauge if you feel like you're going to start racing

and gassing on it and doing all kinds of goofy things even though the engine

temperature gauge is up to temperature the drivetrain the transmission and the

differential and all those types of things aren't up to temperature so you

got to drive it probably for about a half an

forty minutes before the entire engine drivetrain and everything is warmed up

to operating temperature if you're gonna start racing and doing goofy things with

it so know that that you can do a fair bit of damage if the vehicle and the

drivetrain not just the engine but the drivetrain as well is not warm okay we

we can talk more about that as well just answer some of these other questions

here all right um I'm not sure why that

happens you would think they would be great views with the beta series yeah

the Veda series was kind of a failed exercise Sam it didn't really go over

too well Don and actually I had a I had a consult with Tim Schmoyer which some

of you may know he has a YouTube channel and he does how to do YouTube and he's

been doing it for a long time I really like Tim stuff and I had a

consult with Tim and Tim gave me some really good feedback and we both agreed

that the beta series was not one of my better series so so we're gonna try so

you're gonna see some new stuff coming up here and actually I would also like

to hear people's opinion about the new channel art I got new channel art done

on the YouTube channel if you're watching it on the replay as well be

sure to give it a thumbs up if you like what you see here on the channel and if

you like what you see here on the channel also consider subscribing to

smart drive test we'd always win we always love to hear it from you

JFS a two things opinions are on automatic truck transmissions not fond

of them myself slow shifting and our block heaters really not useful outside

of nineveh jf sa yes I agree with you on automatic transmissions I am NOT a fan

of them there's no way that automatic transmissions are going to be able to do

the work of manual transmissions in terms of fuel economy and they're

certainly not going to be able to pull super bees through the mountains for

some time coming you know anything under 80,000 pounds I think automatic

transmissions on the flat are gonna do just fine and that is reflected in most

of the fleets in the United States now being automatic transmissions here in

Canada and on the west coast of the United States I think there's still

mostly 18-speed transmissions and yes block heaters are a must on diesel

trucks still most places where it gets cold if it

gets down to minus ten you need a block heater on a diesel truck or it's still

just not going to start all right Sam yes I call milking the cow I do hand

over hand all the time and don't think about the airbag situation at all there

you go and I and I I agree too Sam I don't think about the airbag situation

either I do hand over hand Ryan hi Ryan how are you just listening while finding

videos to review before my next Drive that's great

it's awesome okay Robin love your videos thank you so much Robin that's awesome

and thank you so much for the boost here

okay random guy was told my driving structure the point of no return what

does that mean random guy was he talking about yellow lights like yellow traffic

lights because what we talked about in terms of the point of no return on

yellow traffic lights is that you're just you're so close to the intersection

within one vehicle length of the intersection if you're that close to the

light and the light goes yellow you're not going to stop it's point of no

return you can't you can't get back how to pass

parallel parking for the driver's test Kel's Kel's what you need to do start

with the learn to drive video which I think Cory has already put up here and

get control of the primary controls as well go up and get some of those 1 meter

tall 36 inch tall pylons the delineators from your local rental shop you can rent

4 of them there less than $10 for a day and go down to a parking lot at a church

or grocery store parking lot or a movie parking lot or someplace like that and

just set the cones up and drive around them and you'll be able to work with

your primary controls yes Sam I agree tim is really great and

you know the consult session that i had with him for the hour he just gave me

some really awesome feedback on my channel and i really feel like you know

i think it was a good thing that the computer kind of went down for the last

couple 2-3 weeks and i haven't been making videos because i think its kind

of allowed me to really reflect on where I want the channel to go for forward

from here and Tim gave me some really great stuff so I'm really interested in

hearing what people have to say about because I'm getting a new intro done for

my video I'm gonna change the beginning of my

videos and I and I was kind of working on that with the Veda series and also

like I said I've done the the I've done some new channel art and I just you know

I'm really looking forward to people's feedback and the feedback I did put up a

pole for the new channel art and people gave me good feedback about that I think

about 70% of people smart drivers really said that they really liked it so you

know if you're watching on the replay and you like the new Chandler give it a

thumbs up and that'd be really great okay Silas I don't know this is related

to the video but how do you improve sense of direction I feel scared because

I may get lost and do not know how to get back

alright so Silas definitely look on the on the video they're on route planning

and navigation and one of the other things Silas if you're driving an older

vehicle and you don't have one that tells you northwest-southeast

then go out and get one of those compasses that you can put on the dash

which will give you directions north east south and west and that way as well

I don't know where you are in the world Silas but a couple of things one of the

things I live in Vernon British Columbia and we have mountains on the east and on

the west side of town so if we're going north or south you have you know you

have a mountain range on the north are on the west and on the east and when I

drove in Melbourne Australia I lived there for five years and if you were

driving now let me see your East West and you knew where North and South was

because often times you could see the cityscape of Melbourne Australia and you

could see the bay and you knew where the bay was because you knew we're no south

east and west were and so if you get a direction of where north south east and

west are it's going to give you a better sense of direction as well that video

navigation of route planning will show you how to go through Google Maps it'll

show you how to use Google Maps it'll also show you how to use your phone and

how to use the the map app on your phone and as well I'll show you how to use a

GPS unit and whatnot so all of that will help you out in terms of sense of

direction navigation okay so Liban I'm taking the exam in a

new area how do you avoid missing turns when the instructor says to do so I'm

trying to avoid going too fast or too slow yes living

you really want to try to get up to the posted speed limit as quickly as

possible for the purposes of a road test as I said the speed limit for the

purposes of road test is either the posted speed limit or the flow of

traffic whichever is last and you want to get up to speed as quickly as

possible the driving examiners are good at giving you directions and giving you

directions early they're gonna say you know at the controlled intersection turn

left and it's going to be three or four blocks before the controlled

intersection and when they say controlled intersection is going to be a

yield sign a stop sign or a set of traffic lights that's what they mean by

a controlled intersection when they say uncontrolled intersection most of the

time that's you're on a major road and they want you to turn onto a minor road

so they want you to turn at the next road so if they say turn left at the

next control uncontrolled intersection that means the next street they want you

to turn left and most driving instruct examiner's are really good because they

do it all the time they know you're nervous they know that you're under

scrutiny and that you're prone to making errors because you're you're you know

you're being tested so they're good at giving you lots of advance notice in

terms of where you need to turn in those types of things Fouad there's a brand of

airbags you can kill the driver even at small crashes so I think that is better

to deactivate the airbag yeah I would definitely want to find out about that

that airbag but most airbags now are safe they've improved them a lot and

they've done a lot of crash testing on airbags to make the to provide maximum

safety to vehicle occupants and pickup truck airbags on the passenger side can

be turned off if you have people who are smaller I think it's smaller than 80

pounds in the front seat as well there's a sensor in the seat to indicate that if

there isn't a passenger in there or the passengers to light the airbag won't

activate so the technology is getting much much better in terms of airbags and

those types of things okay Sarah my driving instructor where'd you go my

driving instructor told me you are not checking your blind spots correctly can

you please tell me when should I check them while driving okay

Sarab okay are you Sarab are you talking about shoulder checking is he or she

saying that you're not shoulder checking correctly for the purposes of your blind

of your checking your blind spots all right liban oh you are most welcome

living and thank you for the compliment and thank you for the compliment for

Cory - Cory does some great work on the channel here and it really makes it all

of this possible for me to do the work that I can do and it's I tell you the

the channel has really got a great boost when Cory's come on board and done the

work he has that's for sure okay mystery can a person with cerebral palsy Drive

and if so how are they graded someone asked me and this is why I'm asking you

mr. e so what you need to do mr. e is I don't know where you live and Ryan's

here and I know Ryan is driving with hand controls and mr. e what you would

need to do is there is an organization and if you can't I think if you're in

the States if you contact the DoD the Department of

Transportation they will give you the name of the organization so you need to

contact them and then they will do an evaluation and oftentimes they want you

to go to your medical doctor and get a certificate of you know like you get a

medical done so that you bring that certificate to the to the the center

that's going to do the testing for people with disabilities and essentially

what they'll do is sometimes they'll have the driving instructor sometimes it

might be just an occupational therapist the driving instructor in the

occupational therapists at least when I used to do driver rehabilitation it was

myself and a occupational therapist and we would take you out in the vehicle and

we would do a driving assessment to see if there if you were a candidate to be

retrained or to be trained to get your license so there you go mr. e so you're

in Chicago Illinois I can look that up for you mr. e send me an email Rick at

smart drive test comm and I'll look into that for you in terms of Chicago I think

I could find that information for you and then you would just simply go for an

evaluation and then you would move forward from there okay all phase how

are you the seat great evening Dorcas just wanted to come

in to you for your help thank you very much that's great didn't darkus just

remind me you did just get your license right I'm we're correct on that I think

I remember there's been it's been really great I mean there have been many many

smart drivers who have been passing their their tests in the last month or

so I mean it has just been really great to hear people say that they passed the

road test and I had a part in that it's just been really great in I mean this

morning somebody from Dubai passed the road test I had another smart driver

from Belgium asking me questions this morning so it's just been it's been

really great all the people in the world ok clockwork I'm glad to watch again I

was wondering if I'm driving with my parents and the tags are expired and I

get pulled over when I get a ticket or like clockwork I'm not the the driver is

going to get the tickets because you should have been dry you should have

done a pre-trip inspection and knowing that everything was the the decals were

valid on the vehicle so go get those done and don't drive around without with

expired decals okay so Sarah so you need some help with shoulder checking so

Sarah you need to shoulder check two times for every time you move the

vehicle laterally so when you're turning for example you need to shoulder check

approximately half a block before the turn and then you stop and you need to

shoulder check again if you stop there for some time

at the intersection and you're going to turn then you need to shoulder check

again immediately before you turn now if you're going to lane change or move the

vehicle laterally sit mirror signal shoulder check so you got to turn your

signal on have a lock shoulder check at the same time and check your mirror to

make sure that there's a space there and you can fit into the gap and then three

flashes on the signal minimum and then once you start moving over immediately

shoulder check again so that's when you shoulder check for the purposes of

driving and checking your blind spots while you're driving so that's what you

need to do okay all right Silas my mom tells me ahead of time for example to

make a right turn at the next light and change lanes but I get confused and can

remember any tips I can keep messing up Silas if you're not hearing the

directions that your mom is giving you while you're driving what is it that

you're thinking about or concentrating on that is causing you to tune your mom

out or you're not processing that information because what it would seem

to me as a driving instructor is that there's a lot going on and it's not that

you didn't hear your mom it's the fact that you've got so much going on in

terms of what you're concentrating on and you're driving and you're focused on

that that you're not listening because those driving instructors and Sam will

probably say the same thing as what I'm about to say is that I know for a fact

that when a when I'm in the car with a student and he or she is doing a

left-hand turn I just stopped talking because I know for a fact that the

student isn't listening to what I'm saying and it's interesting the truck

there's a truck video that I just put up about three weeks ago about right turns

in a truck and I hadn't been in the truck for a couple of week couple of

months and I was concentrating and trying to shift the truck and drive the

track and so you see me there's some big pauses in that video because I'm trying

to I'm trying to concentrate what on what I'm doing and I'm trying to talk to

the camera at the same time so if you've got a lot going on and you're

concentrating and your mom is trying to give you directions it's not that you're

not hearing or it's just that you've got a lot of other stuff go on and what I

might suggest Silas is that you have a look at that video learning how to drive

and then go back to the parking lot and revisit those fundamentals again because

again I come back to that same point again and again and again slow speed

maneuvers working in the parking lot with the pylons and doing those

exercises in the parking lot will improve your overall driving so do not

negate that go back to that and revisit that and that will help you with that

again all right Hall phase do you get health benefits

when you or a Cal driver or a bus driver most places Hall phase you do get

benefits when you're a transit driver because you're part of the Union

depending on which coach company or bus company that you're working for you will

get better fits with them okay two weeks tomorrow

there we go door cuz that's really awesome then you passed a road test

that's really lucky really great Hall phase are you to become how like the

hall phase what's a cal driver Cal Cal Cal sorry

CDL driver I mean you can become you can become a CDL driver you're gonna be just

fine

liam is it okay to cross a double yellow line to pass a bicycle

probably not Liam you would probably want to wait until the line gets to be

it would really depend on where you are whether you're gonna cross that double

line or not but there's a video here as well how to change lanes look at that

video Cory be able to find that for you and it'll tell you how to move around

somebody that's smaller like a cyclist or those types of things but essentially

you know it's like changing a lane you got a signal mirror signal shoulder

check shoulder check three flashes on the signal look again move out around

and then signal back and come in right okay Hall phase hello hello hello we got

everybody here okay Oh CDL driver there we go okay yes so

easy to become a CDL drivers I think in most places you have to be a minimum age

I know here in British Columbia you have to be nineteen years old to get a class

one CDL license which is tractor-trailer and then it's just a matter of going

through truck driving school and getting your license and so I mean as long as

you have you know you're you don't have too many speeding tickets because really

the goal of going to truck driving school or bus driving school is to get a

job excuse me at the end of that right so you need to have a fairly clean

criminal record if you are driving in the States or working in the States as a

CDL driver you need to be drug-free because you're going to be drug tested

when you go into the states it got distracted there sorry I shouldn't be

reading the comments what I'm talking so that's what you need to do and as long

as your your abstract you're driving abstract because to go to to get a job

as a CDL driver they're gonna ask you for your drivers abstract we all have

the drivers tract that the licensing authority keeps

and it shows all our speeding tickets and and tickets and crashes that we've

had or any other traffic Highway Traffic Act infractions that we've had so keep

that clean if you're gonna go on to become a CDL driver okay and then it's

just a matter of going to driving school and then you know getting a job and in

those tapes things oh there we go i Sam says I agree with you sometimes

I'm having a conversation with a student and all of a sudden the student stops

talking because of something going on and I'll remain quiet too so they can

concentrate yes and on what they're doing yes so Sam agrees with me that

sometimes the traffic situation demands the drivers entire attention and if the

driving instructor or the mentor is talking to that student and the student

doesn't hear them the reason is is because the student is concentrating on

the traffic situation because the the overarching competency for you to pass a

road test is to demonstrate to the examiner that you have due care and

control of the vehicle in a fluid driving situation in other words that

driving situation is changing all the time and driving examiner's want to know

that you can change your driving habits to remain safe in changing situations of

driving this is why driving is so complex and I come back to this again

the six factors of the driving task right the driver the vehicle traffic the

road light and whether those are the six combinations of are the six criteria of

driving that are always changing and make it difficult and they can come

together in one situation maybe completely innocuous harmless or another

situation can be really dangerous so know that can we go on a raid after the

stream absolutely Hall phase it may be a little bit tough for us to get together

but that sounds like fun sounds like fun okay guau Makia I didn't

say that right I do apologize how do I judge the front and back of my car when

parking in a tight spot okay the best way to do that and I've had this

question a little bit over the last few weeks how

do you judge in a tight space one of the best ways to learn where your vehicle is

in space and place if you were in the least bit doubt get out of your vehicle

and actually have a look and I don't counsel you to do that on a road test do

not actually don't do that on a road test but when you're learning how to

drive and you're still in the novice phase of driving get out of the vehicle

and have a look and this is especially important if you start moving up to

bigger vehicles if you start moving up to pickup trucks and you start moving up

and towing trailers and boats and recreational trailers and you start

moving up to buses and those whatnot if you were in the least bit of doubt when

you're parking or backing up that vehicle or in a space that's really

tight get out and look and put that skill in place because you look like a

complete amateur if you just keep going and you back into something but if you

actually get out and look then you don't look like an amateur you only look like

an amateur when you hit something so get out and look don't be embarrassed to do

that because it's gonna be much more embarrassing if you do hit something so

that's how you're gonna learn space in place and the other video that I would

counsel you to have a look at is have a look at the blind spots around your

vehicle video and that will show you how big those blind areas around your

vehicle from when you're sitting in the driver's seat okay

ela failed my first test on Friday sorry about that

that's unsuccessful on your attempt there between them apparently had to

cancel my signal light that turn it on and get not keep it on thoughts okay

so then right again at about 10 meters between them apparently I had to cancel

my signal light then turn it back on again Eli I'm I can't I can't comment

specifically because I don't know the exact situation I and you know I wasn't

there in the car that sounds it sounds a bit dubious because if it's a short

distance between one right hand to the next right hand turn I would have just

counseled you to leave your light on but your your signal light on now what I

would cancel you for the next time Eli is higher driving school and do a

practice driving test as Sam says Sam is driving lessons with Big Mac Sam this

Sam yo yo he works as a driving instructor for rukhi auto driving school

there in the Bronx in they do practice driving tests for about twenty dollars

it's really inexpensive in most US states so if you can get a practice

driving test do that and then you'll know for sure whether you're ready or

not and you'll know which skills and abilities that you have to improve in

order to be successful on a road test and as well it's just great twenty

dollars spent even it's fifty dollars it's still a bargain because you know

you're gonna pass your road test for sure okay let's see just drive a crappy

car so you don't have to worry about hitting the curb yeah unfortunately you

can't hit the curb on a road test you can touch the curb but don't don't hit

the curb there we go okay Hall face can you show us how to invade paying tolls

I'll tell you a funny story about that Hall face some years ago when I drove

truck we used to run the East Coast salon and of course for those of you who

are on the east coast of the US around New York yeah 20 bucks come on down

there Sam so the tolls of course is there's a toll on the Massachusetts

Turnpike there's tolls on New Jersey Turnpike in you know

across the George W Washington Bridge the Verrazano in onto Staten Island and

all those types of things and of course one of the dispatchers was going on

about how this truck driver named whiskers of course whiskers was a

harley-davidson motorcycle rider and he had big white beard and he said whiskers

never pays tolls blah blah blah right so I'm trying to figure out how to get

around the tolls on the Massachusetts Turnpike I'm like how the heck do you

get from Buffalo to Boston without paying a toll and of course I'm trying

to figure this out because we used to avoid the hope that the toll on i-90 by

going down across our highway State Road 17 in New York State when we went from

Buffalo to New York City well we used to avoid the toll and I'd do everything I

could to avoid tolls and then finally about three or four weeks later I ran

into whiskers and I said whiskers how do you avoid the toll in the Massachusetts

Turnpike he starts laughing he looks at me he goes I don't avoid the towline

just go down the Turnpike so what people are telling you about voiding tolls

isn't necessarily true sometimes sometimes it's just cheaper to pay the

toll there you go that's my tip Matt's my my two cents on avoiding tolls in the

US okay Jim or do you need to use signal lights when doing three-point turn now

jammer I don't some places will not get you to do our you don't have to use turn

signals for doing three-point turns however the three point two turn video

that I do here I do get you two signal and again if you do signal when you're

doing your three-point turns it demonstrates to the examiner that you

have do care and control of the vehicle and that you can communicate to other

traffic when you're doing maneuvers on the roadway so I would encourage you to

use your signals while you're practicing and learning how to do your three-point

turns okay oh it's unfortunate okay so Sam the student was unsuccessful on the

practice driving test or the student was unsuccessful on the d-o-t test okay Liam

I'm from New York and I see the license plate covers everywhere

there you go or they just accidentally spill plain on their tags there you go

okay they have clear ones that the store plate when okay clockwork I mean what

would you recommend doing if you run it a gas and you were stuck in traffic

clockwork I would really recommend that you not run out of fuel if your fuel

tank gets down to a quarter of a tank put fuel and it's just so much easier

than running out of fuel if you do run out of fuel because I know that it is

inevitable and that at some point you may run out of fuel you need to get the

vehicle off the road as quickly as possible so if you are running down on

the e on your fuel tank then make sure you drive in the outside lane so you can

get the vehicle off the roadway okay so Sam so the student got fifty five on the

practice driving test and I'm sure that student felt a lot better about spending

the 20 bucks and doing a practice driving test and finding out that he or

she was not ready to take the d-o-t test and then went back and did a bit more

work and was successful on their d-o-t test so yeah I really really encourage

you and I used to call it a mock Road test it's actually a practice driving

test so do a practice driving test before you go in and take your test if

you're not taking driving lessons if you're taking driving lessons you're

gonna be okay because your driving instructor is going to tell you whether

you're ready or not and those types of things okay Hall

phase four automatic tolls you can actually avoid paying tolls because

electronic rolling only reads plates unlike the normal total Tollbooth there

you go well you guys will have it can have a

discussion about that no I'm not gonna intervene because some might you know

there's some ethics going on there ela do you need to turn your signal off and

on again when turning right twice at ten meters between and this was one of his

complaints ela I can't like I said I can't comment on that

I don't know and would counsel you to do Eli is to go and

hire driving school and do a practice driving test and that and that driving

instructor will be able to give you that specific information in and around where

you are taking your tests at the driving Authority because I just can't comment

on that specific information that's just too specific for what I'm doing okay

so I I think we're up to 45 minutes here I think we're gonna if anybody has any

other questions or whatnot I think we're gonna leave it there for

tonight and because it's Memorial Day weekend in the States and we'd certainly

like to honor all the veterans in the United States so and yeah

so we'll leave it there for tonight and if anybody has any questions by all

means leave me a comment send me an email Rick at smart drive test I'll be

more happy to help you out okay so he had his license before in Puerto Rico he

was driving with one hand doing rolling stops or stopping after the stop lane he

forgot to signal and making a right turn etc etc so so the student had his

license from Puerto Rico and didn't realize that driving for the purposes of

a road test is a very different exercise than driving normally like we do every

every day so there we go so yes the student had to learn that there was a

different set of criteria for the purposes of passing a road test okay

yes have a great night everyone Paul Feig's yes today is Memorial when do you

go live silence ago lives most Sunday nights at 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time

the reason I went live tonight on Monday is because it was more Memorial Day

weekend in the United States when there is a statutory holiday or a long weekend

then I'll do it on Monday nights to help everybody out because most people are

away on Sunday nights and they're just not really sticking around for the for

the live feed okay so next week I don't think there's any holidays next week so

next week it'll be on Sunday and as well just have a look on the channel there on

the on the front page is the live feed and it will tell you when the live feed

is is gonna be up for next week okay exactly there you go Sam awesome good

night clockwork good night Silas thanks so much Cory and for road tests

you need to be more perfect no hollowface you don't need to be more

perfect you need a very different set of driving skills for the purposes of

passing a road test and Sam and I'll both tell you because I'll tell you Sam

and I drive differently wouldn't we actually drive as opposed to preparing

and helping students get ready to pass a road test okay do we wave to oncoming

traffic to pass before you start absolutely not Nick mice on for the

purposes of a road test do not wave to other traffic or wave other traffic on

okay just stop put the vehicle into reverse that way you've got your signal

on and you've got to reverse lights on in the traffic behind you knows what

you're doing and if they're there they're they're gonna go around you and

yes Hall phase we're gonna go up and do a rade okay so that's what you need to

do and as well know macmeister when they get you to a parallel park for the

purposes of a road test they're not gonna do it on a busy street and many

different licensing authorities are actually going to get you to do it in a

closed circuit area in other words you're gonna do it sorry you're gonna do

it in a parking lot or something like that alright so thanks everybody if you

like what you see here consider subscribing to the channel if you're

watching it on the replay be sure to give it a thumbs up and be sure to give

it a thumbs up before you take off there and thanks again everybody and we're

going off to raid a channel with Hall face here so everybody have a great

night all the best and good luck in your road test and remember pick the best

answer not necessarily the right answer have a great night bye No

Sadhguru - Your Effort or Grace? What's the right way in Spirituality? - Duration: 11:44.

Sadhguru: This is This is something that people have been struggling

with for ages, because these are two different types

these are two different dimensions of one's existence.

About These two dimensions are about doing something,

making something happen and allowing something to happen to you.

These are two different aspects.

So now the question is, 'Which is more,

which is less?

Can I do it all or there is nothing I can do,

I have to just allow it?'

If you're capable of just allowing it that would be very good for you,

but if you are the kind who just allows things to happen to you,

do not expect people around you to understand anything about you because they will not understand.

People around you cannot understand what it means to allow.

Doing is something that they understand, but doing is a limited possibility

and doing is a very laborious process.

It's like, if I want to bake bread, how much of it do you do,

how much of it do you allow?

There is an equal proportion of both.

If you do not knead it hard enough, if you do not work to load the oven properly,

if you do not set the right temperatures, which is all your doing, it's not going to

happen.

But if you're not willing to allow, that you're willing to close it and simply

sit there like a pregnant woman, yes,

if you do not know how to bake bread, it is as complicated as bearing a child.

Yes?

You have to sit there and wait.

If you are too much of a doer, you want to open every few moments and look

at it, you will not have bread,

you will have something else.

This goes for baking breads, growing a plant,

bringing up a child or bringing yourself up,

which is you're realizing is the hardest task (Laughs),

that if you want to bring yourself up, there's a certain amount of striving and

doing on your part to be done.

Without allowing, it will be an extraordinarily difficult process

and incomplete process for a very long time to come,

so both are needed.

If both have entered your life at the same time,

you must consider yourself to be an extremely fortunate human being,

whether you understand the fortune or not, because there are people,

who for lifetimes are just doing without grace being available to them.

There are people who are just waiting for grace to happen,

not doing anything, because they do not know what to do,

doing their own little things without doing the right kind of thing

to become open to the process.

So, these two kind of people exist everywhere in the world.

Some are waiting for gods to do things for them;

some are trying to do everything by themselves.

You are an extremely fortunate human being if action and receptivity both have come into

your life at the same time; that you know how to perform action

everything that you can do you will do, but you have the sense and the gracefulness

to sit and wait for that which you cannot do.

So it is that dimension, it is this combination of these two,

that we are effectively delivering through Isha Yoga,

that people learn to do something about themselves, at the same time people learn the humility

of waiting.

The devotion devotion is needed, otherwise one cannot wait.

If you do not look up to something, you cannot wait.

So to be able to do everything that's needed -

having the necessary tools and the empowerment to do things about your life,

at the same time having the necessary sense and grace to wait

and be able to receive, both these things need to happen.

So if the question is pushed a little further, the question could be, 'Can't I do it myself?'

Or the next question could be, 'Will your write a self-help book,

"Get yourself enlightened"?'

(Laughter) This happened at the doctor's office,

a woman came with her husband who was limping and in a bad shape.

She brought him slowly; he was leaning heavily on her.

She brought him slowly and made him sit down.

The receptionist who was sitting there, being sympathetic to the situation,

said to the woman who brought this man, 'Arthritis with complications, mhmm?'

The woman said, 'No.

Self-help with concrete blocks.'

(Laughter) So self-help books sometimes have done things

for people, good things for people.

Lot of times they only injured themselves, broke things up,

broke situations up in your life, because self-help is not always the right

thing, but is it something that you don't do?

No you must do.

So combination of both is best.

If you push one too far, you may lose your grounding.

If you push your receptivity too far, not doing anything,

you do not even know whether you're being receptive or just being lazy.

If you do… try to do everything yourself, not allowing anything to be received

then it's like a plant which is trying to grow without sunlight.

It will grow, but pale, it will not produce any flower or fruit.

It will be a long time before it can produce anything.

So we need a combination of both.

The kriyas, the practices are a phenomenal way

to prepare the system to be open to new possibilities.

If your energies do not open up to new possibilities, then you are talking about a long drawn out

journey.

To become open is the most important thing.

So just believing that I am open and not doing anything about it, is no good.

There are lots of very open people, if you say one word, tomorrow they'll be

gone.

They believe they are very open.

If…

Even me, if I make as much as one comment about them,

tomorrow they'll be gone, that open they are.

(Laughter) So openness has to be tested with your commitment

of time and effort.

How open you are, you have to prove, every day to yourself and to the existence.

By every day putting in this much.

'I am this open, I am willing to give my this much of time

and commitment, I'm that open.'

So your sadhana is a tool for opening you up

and also a test for your openness, both ways.

So these are inseparable, you cannot separate them.

If you separate it, it is an unrealistic separation,

which does not work.

Largely it does not work.

There may be a devotee who does nothing, who just sits and receives it,

but as I said, if you become all receptivity, it may be wonderful for you

but you won't know whether you're going forward or backward,

that's one thing.

Another thing is nobody would want to be around you, it's another thing; it's already so

It's already so?

Advice To A Screenwriter Who Doesn't Have An Agent Or Manager by Mark Heidelberger - Duration: 6:35.

Film Courage: What would you recommend to a screenwriter who doesn't have an agent

manager or producer to guide them?

Mark Heidelberger, Producer: So yeah…presuming that they are up and coming, I think getting

an agent or a manager (not both) when you are starting off is a great avenue because

you really need an advocate because a lot of writers are not necessarily good at pitching

themselves.

And even if you are, there is something that just comes off pretentious and arrogant about

talking about how great your work is.

I mean, you do the writing, let them do the talking.

So I do think a good agent or a manager, I just don't think your career is big enough,

even big writers don't often need both.

But an advocate to go out and push for you is always worthwhile.

So assuming you don't know anybody, I think a good way to get to an agent or manager (a

few good ways) 1.

Networking (obviously) but not necessarily directly with agents or managers, as you get

to know more people in this industry whether it's producers, DP's, actors, whoever,

you start meeting other people who are represented.

And a good way to get in with agents or managers (even better than just meeting them at the

party and saying "Hey, look!

I'm a writer.

Can you take a look at my stuff?") is knowing somebody who already knows them is often times

a better way.

Instead of trying to be your own agent or manager, look at your own resource-base and

see other people you know and "My friend is repped by Innovative Artists.

Hey, I'll take you out to dinner if you can get me…if you can just get my script

over and get somebody to look at it.

Get me a meeting and I'll take you out for a nice dinner."

Or whatever.

Leverage your own contacts because this is a relationship business.

So even more than being able to go up to an agent and say "You don't know me, but

I'd really love for you to take a look at my stuff."

They usually don't.

But if this comes from someone they already know and trust, that's a good way…so look

at who you know.

That's what I advise.

I have a friend of mine (a director).

He's a visual effects guy.

His name is Lloyd Barnett.

He's an amazing VFX guy.

He was the lead compositor on AVATAR and he directed a movie I produced called NINJA APOCALYPSE.

He also did a lot of VFX in that movie.

And he wants to direct.

He wants to do more directing, so I helped him put together a director reel.

And he was asking "How should I get to these agents?"

And I'm like "You've been in this business a long time.

You have to know people who have agents."

Think about other VFX artists that you've worked with, think about other below-the-line

people you've worked with, composers, you have a friend who does music… and yeah,

he's repped by Gersh [The Gersh Agency], talk to him.

See if you can get your reel looked at."

I think another way, talent rises to the top, if you believe that (I do believe that).

I believe that talent will eventually be rewarded (real talent).

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people overestimate their abilities a lot.

So I think you being recognized as talented, its got to be from someone else other than

yourself saying that.

Other people need to recognize that talent.

That's what actually elevates you to the point of…when you have other people in the

industry with some modicum of success saying "I think this guy is talented."

I think that is legitimate.

It's great that you believe in yourself.

Having confidence is fantastic.

I think the whole Self-Esteem Movement has done more to harm young kids than help them.

Self-Esteem is something where you believe you are owed something.

That you should feel good because you are unique and you are this and you are that (as

opposed to have accomplished something).

As opposed to confidence is a different thing, believing you can go out as opposed to self-esteem

and that you should be owed something just because you're unique, I don't buy that.

But I believe that you should be confident in your abilities to a degree.

Not over-confident, but confident in yourself either that you have some modicum of talent

or that you have talent that you can develop into a skill.

And so I think some people that are good to judge that are some of the screenplay competitions.

And I had written a whole article on this at FundsForWriters.com, I'd written a whole

article on screenplay competitions.

But some of the top ones like the Sundance Screenplay lab, like the Nichols [Fellowship],

Boston, Blue Cat, The Tracking Bee, Final Draft's Big Break, there's a few and I

think they've elevated themselves because they've been around for a long time and

they use a lot of working industry professionals to read the scripts and grade them.

So you have a lot of people who are in the industry, who are in the know.

They are not just hiring interns or kids like "Hey read this and do coverage on it."

They have experienced readers.

When you have enough of those competitions saying "I think this guy has got something."

Or "I think this script is something else, it's a fresh voice," what have you.

I think there is some legitimacy to "This person really does have some talent" because

you have some experienced third parties who have an eye for talent, this is what we do

as producers and directors, we identify talent.

And I think if you can excel at some of those competitions, you are going to get those opportunities

to interface with agents or managers.

If you can at least hit in a big competition (the quarter-final level), I think you can

get agents or managers to read your script.

If you can get to the semi-final, they will probably be calling you.

And if you can get to the finals level, you will probably get meetings.

I mean if you are a finalist at Nichols, you are going to be able to get meetings with

William Morris and CAA because that is such a limited pool of people compared to the number

that apply.

I mean literally thousand of thousands of people apply and it gets down to literally

a small handful of people, so I think that's another way to get to agents and managers.

So play out your own resources base and see who you know that is already repped and see

if you can get in that way.

And also competitions, I think that is two ways to get to access to agents or managers.

Meat it? or Beat it! [Episode Four] - Duration: 8:30.

hentai review. hello everybody it's your boy hero the hero here and I'm back from

my tiny hiatus from working on the shad man special to bring you Episode four of "Meat it? or Beat it!" I decided to look at all three of the previous episodes

for artists today and I've been able to find decent selection of artists out of

all three episodes with that said if you would like to make a suggestion for a

artist for me to review feel free to provide the name of the artist for

review in the comment section down below I'm taking suggestions for more 2d

animators since that episode was fun to make also a lot of you guys have been

suggesting Manyakis which most definitely will be one of the animators in the next

video anyways let's get started. Our first artist suggested by "them" is

bungee gumu or bungee as I call the artist for short bungees artist very

clean-looking and what I mean by that is that the colors are what's focused upon

instead of the background. now I've complained about artists not heavily

utilizing backgrounds for their art for example (Sinner in "my more of my favorite

hentai artists video a month back) there's nothing wrong with going the

simplistic route of using a one color background as long as it fits with the

art you're drawing and for bungee it totally works the cartoon-ish style of

what Bungie brings really fits together it doesn't need to cram copious amounts

of detail for it to be good and the focus is all there on the character or

characters involved in their situation. though I liked it for the most part it

does look a little flat to me in some cases the use of little shading in the

art doesn't bug me a lot but I feel like more could be added to the art style

like gradients that flow from one color to the next but still keep the rigid

hard shading on the skin to provide some sense of definition to the artists

pieces. I'm giving bungees art a three out of five meats I'd beat, it's the

average score not "blowing my mind fantastic" but not mediocre so it fits

perfectly in the middle

our next start is suggested by mr. flexible is pumpkin Sinclair and I gotta

say it's a very good recommendation to suggest. but there's one glaring problem

which I find with Sinclair's art only one it's way too heavy on shading I know

I'm not the only one seeing this I mean doesn't it look a little too dark

alright let's let's test something out here using the power of editing I'm

going to do a side-by-side comparison and I'm going to bump this image up with

some brightness and saturation decide in the Comments if me bumping up the

brightness and saturation in any way it makes it look more visually appealing

over what the original art looks like outside of the heavy shading some of the

line looks a little bit too stiff some portions of the art are too darkened and

dark lit too heavily making the overall art a little bit displeasing to me it

just really throws me off to end this portion of the review on a more positive

note I have to admit that the characters are drawn really well and are very well

defined with detail on every single piece my rating for pumpkin Sinclair

will have to be a two and a half meats i'd beat out of five

the shading overall really brung my rating down but fixing that would really

improve the overall art in my honest opinion suggested by Nefer Pico is the

artist plant penetrator and I really enjoy the art plant tends to have

various different styles and always seems to experiment which I can respect

to the fullest by doing anything and trying anything to evolve the art varies

depending on what piece you're looking at it could be either flat looking or a

lot more detailed leaving also a sense of unpredictability to the artist the

art in general is lush and beautiful having a light and colored vibe to it

the shading is well done and doesn't take away from the heart and the lining

fits for the various styles plant has decided to utilize

overall I give this artist a three-and-a-half meets I'd beat out of

five the various art styles made it hard to really give it a solid score but are

in general is really great enough to be above an average our next artist

suggested by Cazaclaw is Blush mallet I really like bush mallets art like the

previously mentioned to plant penetrator the art most definitely varies but not

in the sense of style but in the sense of effort a lot of the pieces are

enjoyable to look at there's no oversaturation the line work is indeed

stellar and everything just really shines here. I especially love the

original character created by Bush Malley which is Malibu her design is so

sexy in the way it looks and its really a sleek design overall it's getting a

three and a half out of five above average suggested by Shafer is the

artist Einshelm now I don't really have much to say about Einshelm's art except

that it's good though I don't really mess with the furry related art. lining

looks non-existent which works with the art the color is slightly dis a ated but

still works well everything works well together but it feels like any other

piece of art I like it don't get me wrong but it feels like it's not meant

to be fat to just looked at and observed it's getting a 2 out of 5 for me I like

it but it doesn't appeal to me personally at all as an erotic work just

art really our next start is suggested by totally not dark matter is the artist

called calm the art is an instant five out of five the majority of pieces look

downright gorgeous details through the roof and forever keeps your interest

sometimes I get sucked into columns art because it's so good I always have the

need to take a long look at calms art which makes me enjoy it even more not to

say it doesn't have its flaws I mean in some pieces the art might have to be

brightened up or must add a little more saturation to it but it doesn't hurt me

to the point where I dock off any points for it so it's getting my coveted five

out of five meets I'd be suggested by a I don't know you don't really know what

to call that let's see if Google has any good responses to translate this from oh

it's translated to Thoroughbred huh anyways splash brushes

art is just adorable I mean look at it everyone looks cute

regardless of what sexual activity they partake in but in all seriousness the

art is good I just have one minor complaint

it feels washed I mean I understand where certain artists are coming from

but it lacks much of a punch to the eyes when the colors faded like that again

with the power of editing I'm going to bump up the saturation a little bit and

I'll show you the images side by side again tell me in the comics which looks

more appealing to you left of the right anyways the art is pretty good this

style is nice and so is the lining it's just the color or should I say lack

thereof that bothers me so I'm giving it a three-and-a-half meets I'd be out of

five above average finally our last artist for today was suggested by under

universe and their artist is murdered idea the art really varies to me really

the color and lining and details are there and it screams to me with high

amounts of color but it needs a proper balance of saturation opposite of splash

brush the art hits too hard with its color let's do another side-by-side

analysis to demonstrate how I feel the saturation should be adjusted to what do

you guys think better or worse aside from the comparisons the art looks

good so it's getting at three out of five meets I'd be just average enough to

me and my baby anyways that was meted or beat it episode four in the books if you

have any suggestions of who I should review next make sure to leave a comment

down below in the comment section now that YouTube is goofing up subscriptions

again please make sure to hit subscribe in that notifications bell to get

notified of new videos I'm doing a tournament to determine who is best girl

I'm still taking suggestions right now up until June 2nd which is this

Which is BETTER for You? The PANCAKE or the WAFFLE [ANSWERED LIVE NOW!] - Duration: 10:15.

Hey, everybody out there, Coach Dan Long with Get Lean in 12,

and we are live.

Thank you so much for joining in and stopping now on this feet.

Today, I'm going to answer the question

that everybody wants to know.

Which is better for you--

live right now, I'm going to answer--

pancakes or waffles?

Now, I know you see here, I got some

waffles that I just cooked up.

And they smell absolutely delicious.

Now, if you're a pancake or a waffle lover, or both,

and you're out there right now and you're

wondering, which one of these--

look at this.

Amazing.

Look at this waffle, right?

Which one of these amazing pieces

of breakfast foods, that you love to eat,

are healthier for you?

Now, my name's Coach Dan Long.

Thank you so much for stopping here today.

And we're live because I wanted to answer

this question for you, but I also

want you to know I have something special for you that

is at the end of this video.

So please, stick with me.

That link that's up above, don't click it just yet, OK?

I want to answer all the questions that you probably

have about pancakes or waffles, and how you too

can have a flat stomach and be able to get, if you want,

abs, or just a flat tummy, by eating pancakes or waffles.

OK, so let's go ahead and get into this right now.

The first thing is that you want to know about pancakes

is that, obviously, we know that they're fluffy, they're soft,

they're spongy, and they're cake-like, right?

So, again, as you can tell here with my pancake,

right, it's spongy inside, it's got that cakey type feel,

and it's nice and fluffy.

Well, that actually is going to help with the health.

I'm going to tell you about the waffle, in a second,

on why that helps you, because when it's cakey like that,

and it's also soft, there's a reason, because it's aerated,

right?

Now, let's talk about, also inside pancakes,

they're lower in fat than they are in waffles.

Why is that?

Because there's less fat inside and there's less sugar.

I'm going to go over that one in a second.

So with a waffle, it's crisp, light inside,

like funnel cakes, right, or donuts,

and sometimes they're fried.

Now, mine here-- as you can tell, my waffle here--

this is not fried.

This is actually done in my press, which I

have a waffle press right here.

But when you put a waffle inside the press, what

do you have to do?

You have to grease both sides of that,

otherwise it's going to stick.

So keep that in mind while we're talking about this, OK?

Now, because pancakes are lower in fat,

are they higher in sugar?

No.

Listen to this.

Waffles are high percentage of sugar

because you're trying to caramelize

the outside of the waffle.

Now, there's a lot of people--

I know when I go to Disney World-- they fry the waffles.

So waffle cones, waffles, a lot of times, they are fried.

But when you make them inside your home maker, which

you have for a waffle maker, right, you

have to grease both sides.

So that's important to remember because it's adding more fat.

Now, when it comes for the waffle,

I said it's higher in sugar.

It's also a higher percentage of fat

because for a crisp exterior, you

want to use the fat to make your waffle nice and crispy.

Now, these could be even crispier.

We like it on the light side.

I don't like to make them too crispy because all it's doing

is, again, it's adding more fat.

So now, back to the pancake--

lower sugar content inside pancakes

because the caramelization of a pancake is not important.

You want them nice and fluffy and you want them cake-like,

right?

Like we talked about up here, you

want them fluffy and soft and cake-like.

It's different for a waffle.

Waffle, you want it crisp.

You want to almost have that crunch when you're

eating your waffle because it's just that flavorful amazingness

when you eat that waffle.

Now, per 100 grams of pancake batter,

it's approximately 194 calories, 37 grams of carbs,

and 5 grams of protein.

Now, remember that when we talk about the waffle over here, OK?

So that's a lot of carbs.

Obviously, we know that, because a pancake, right?

It's filled with carbohydrates.

But per 100 grams, it's only 194 calories.

Now, let's go over to the waffle--

higher in fat, we talked about, for a crisp exterior,

per 100 grams of batter, 291 calories versus the 194.

Now remember, this is going off of 100 grams of batter.

OK.

You got 33 grams of carbs and 8 grams of protein.

So protein is a little higher in your waffle,

right, little less over here, but you're

going to get more calories out of the waffle

than you would the pancake.

OK.

Now, next is the pancake is high in sodium.

It's 628 milligrams and about 12 milligrams of cholesterol.

So if you have high cholesterol issues and/or high blood

pressure, this could be a factor if you are salt-sensitive.

Not everyone is.

So don't get too worked up.

But when you come over to the waffle,

waffle now, here we go--

high sodium, 511 milligrams, 69 milligrams

of cholesterol versus, over here,

12 milligrams of cholesterol.

Way higher in cholesterol when it comes to the waffle.

Because why?

Because there's more sugar.

What else?

There's more carbohydrates, and there's

eggs, and all this good stuff that's in there,

but it causes fat.

Well, the fat causes cholesterol issues, which

can block your arteries, right?

So higher in sodium over here for the pancake,

lower in cholesterol, but a little lower

in the sodium for the waffle, and 69 milligrams

of cholesterol, which is over four times its weight.

That's about six times the amount of cholesterol

inside the waffle.

Now, the one great benefit, also from the pancake,

is it's packed with vitamins and minerals, packed

with vitamins and minerals.

But guess what?

The waffle is also packed with vitamins and minerals.

So do you love the pancake, or do you love the waffle,

or do you love the waffle, or do you love the pancake?

I don't know about you, but I love both.

My wife, she loves the waffle.

Every time we go somewhere, especially

on brunch on Sundays, it's all about waffles.

The waffle is an amazing thing.

But I am going to let you know, by statistic wise,

pancakes are healthier for you.

So you can do the waffle.

You can do the pancake.

But what you need to do is you need

to remember that if you do either one, the most

important thing that you have to remember,

especially if you're over the age of 35

and you're suffering from hormonal shifts, where

your metabolism is obviously slowing down because the belly

fat hormone is being affected--

that nasty one called cortisol, and that's

what builds the belly fat--

but waffles and pancakes will build belly fat

if you do not exercise in a method

that we call metabolic bursting.

If you want a system, and you need

a system that will help you get that flat stomach or that six

pack of abs eating these amazing waffles, right,

or eating these amazing pancakes,

I have the perfect system for you.

It is called the Over 40 Ab Solution

and it goes amazing with eating foods like this because you

can still eat foods like this.

You can use the three zones that are inside this system.

And the one that works the most is called metabolic bursting.

OK.

Inside this program, which you're

going to see at this link up above, is called the Over 40

Ab Solution.

It is specifically designed for anyone who over the age of 35

and is suffering-- if you're in your 40s, 50s, or 60s,

and even 70 or above--

if your hormones are suffering and you

need a system that can help you get that flat tummy in just

a matter of days, then I have the system for you.

I want you to click this link up above.

All right.

It's going to take you to a system that you can use,

starting right now.

Now, the great thing about that is

is that we have so many success stories.

But here's what I want you to do today.

Two things-- one, if you have an amazing recipe

for a pancake or a waffle, OK, if you have an amazing recipe

and you love pancakes, or you love waffles,

I want you to do me a favor and paste your recipe down below

for all our followers.

We are now over 100,000 likes strong on our page

sharing your amazing stories.

So the second thing I want you to do

is, one, paste down a recipe, if you

have your favorite grandma's recipe,

or maybe you created your own recipe, that you can share,

right.

These are not on the healthy side.

OK.

This would be something that I would definitely

eat as a cheat.

But there are recipes that are for pancakes and for waffles

that are healthier.

And I would love to hear from you,

if you would paste that down below in the comments, right.

Say hi to me, right.

Also, do me a favor, if Over 40 Ab Solution

is doing something great for you, down in comments blow,

please post what is happening.

What reasonable adjustments could an MSer request from a university or college? - Duration: 2:49.

How can I revise effectively when my brain feels like a sieve?

Oh, okay.

Well, I think the thing to think about is study skills is, you know, it's a skill,

learning how to study and getting the best out of yourself, and that's the same for

everybody.

And then the thing is, you know, with MS, sometimes people have difficulties with some

of their cognitive skills, so things like their memory or their attention skills might

not be as good as they were before, or it might change over time if you're tired or

you've had a bad night's sleep or you're having a relapse.

All of those things are to be taken into account.

But I think the thing that I find useful is to consider your own learning style, which

quite often we don't even know.

So do you seem to respond well to seeing things visually, so pictures and diagrams and videos,

or mind maps and things.

Or do you like to hear the information, do you like to write it down.

So I think have a look at your own learning style, and there's quite a lot of kind of

questionnaires.

If you look it up online you can do one and get a sense of your own style.

And then think about what techniques are you going to use to try, and it's probably a

bit of a trial and error sort of thing initially.

So, for example, is it good if you highlight or underline certain topics or key things

so that it stands out to you more.

Is it good if you video things and then you can watch it back or record it so you can

listen back to it.

And then maybe use your friends and peers as well to help you to study.

So like a group where you're interviewing each other or you're doing a role play or

they're testing you and you're having to say it out loud and repeat it, because

again, that helps to get things into your memory.

And then really you need to think about how you organise yourself, and that really comes

down to, I probably would suggest having some sort of diary or calendar where you can literally

plan in time to do certain pieces of work so it's not left to the last minute so that

then you're not worrying that it's at the end of, you know, sort of just before

the deadline and then that increases your anxiety and stress as well.

And there again, if you've got specific difficulties like you know that you don't

remember things very easily, then using something as a reminder or with alarms or prompts will

help you.

Again, something on your phone often, we've all got smartphones nowadays so it's so

easy just to have an alarm that goes off to help you to remember to go and do x or y.

And then planning it into your weekly routine, I think that's really important.

So when you're at uni and you've got all these conflicting things, like you want to

go out with your mates and you need to cook yourself some dinner or do your shopping,

all of that, and do your study and get a good night's sleep and hopefully do some exercise,

you need to really schedule different activities and pace yourself, which is really important,

I think, in terms of making sure you don't get overloaded and too tired.

And, you know, what's important, when does it need to be done, does it need to be done

now or not.

Can you do a bit of it now and do some more of it later.

Yeah.

So a sort of like priority list, or most important.

That's it, yeah.

I think it's really important.

And, you know, we've all got conflicting priorities and, you know, like if you're

coming up to an exam or something and you're having to study for it and you're still

managing the rest of your life, you know, the cooking and all of those things, sometimes

you just need to give yourself a chance and set some easier, use some strategies for those

things that make them easier so you've got more time to study.

So, you know, batch cook and just shove it in the microwave, get the odd takeaway.

You know, it's not going to be the end of the world, depending on your student budget.

You know, order your shopping online or ask for help, you know, don't be afraid to use

your friends and peers for support, because everybody needs to have support at some time

or another and, you know, your aim is to get through that exam and get that assignment

in on time.

So you mentioned smartphones.

We've seen a lot of rise in sort of like brain training apps at the minute.

Can brain training apps help improve cognitive function?

Oh, that's a good question.

Yeah, I mean I think there are lots of those different apps and, you know, there is definitely

room for improvement in certain cognitive skills, it really does depend what cognitive

difficulty you've got.

So, for example, memory, there are certain things that it's very difficult to sort

of make better and a lot of it is about compensating for those difficulties, there are a lot of

the apps that you can get now help you sort of diarise things and schedule alarms and

things so that you're overcoming the difficulty with your memory.

But there is room for improvement in other areas like your attention and concentration

skills, definitely, and I think, you know, using some of those can be quite helpful.

So yeah, I think it's worth speaking to your therapists about and it's worth trying

those things, at times, yeah.

Brainstorm or Green Needle? How the latest audio riddle tricks your brain - Duration: 5:25.

A new ear-teaser to rival the 'Yanny v Laurel' debate which divided work colleagues, friends and family around the globe has been viewed by millions online

Many viewers have reported hearing either the words 'Green Needle' or 'Brainstorm' depending on which of the two words they are thinking of as they watch the clip

A clip of the light-up toy with a robotic voice racked up more than four million views on Twitter in less than 24 hours and has been widely shared across various social media channels

"You can hear the words Green Needle or Brainstorm based on which one you think about," tweeted Mitchell Moffit

The clip was taken from a 2014 video by YouTube vlogger DosmRider, a reviewer of collectable toys, who confirmed to the Press Association what the toy is actually programmed to say

"The toy is supposed to say Brainstorm," he explained. "It's the character's name in the show Ben 10 Alien Force and the name is used in all the merchandise and the show

"I was pretty surprised given that I usually don't see any toy reviews or anything like that getting this kind of attention - (it) just seems hilariously random to me

" The clip was later shared by Reddit user squidjeep, who explained: "These videos do well on the internet because it's really cool to see how people's brains work

"People can be given similar inputs yet interpret them in such different ways." How it works: 'Your brain's best guess at reality' Valerie Hazan, professor of speech sciences at University College London, told The Telegraph the riddle is not dissimilar from the Yanny-Laurel case, explaining "the signal is more ambiguous here, which may favour the more easy switching from one to the other"

"The effect seems to work as follows: when you 'think' Green Needle you hear that word, but when you 'think' Brainstorm, you hear the other

"Basically, you are priming your brain to expect acoustic patterns that match expected patterns for a particular word

When faced with an acoustic signal which is somewhat ambiguous because it is low-quality or noisy, your brain attempts a 'best fit' between what is heard and the expected word

"If it expected patterns for Green Needle, then it will track the patterns in the signal which have more energy in higher frequencies as these are more consistent with some patterns in the sounds in Green Needle

If it expects Brainstorm, it will track the lower-frequency patterns which are more consistent with those you would find in a clearer production of Brainstorm

"   Suzy J Styles, a psycholinguist who specialises in brain, language and intersensory perception at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, believes the "brain is filling in the gaps to make sense of the signal", just like in the Yanny v Laurel case

"The brain has lots of experience with a voice saying one thing at a time," she says

"When there are two possibilities, the brain has to pick which seems more likely

"In this case, if you are thinking Green Needle, it makes the acoustic cues that match those sounds stronger, so that's what you hear

If you are thinking Brainstorm, then those cues are stronger, so you hear that instead

"This is a great reminder that everything we think we experience via the senses is just our brain's best guess at reality!"

Her Or Me - Duration: 9:13.

In 2014,

approximately 26.9% of film actors were nonwhite.

Of the Top 10 movies from that year,

only Big Hero 6 had a non-white protagonist.

Out of the Top 10 best seller novels from that year,

none were about a protagonist of color.

According to a similar study done a few years later

on 900 popular movies released in 2016,

the total amount of non-white characters

with speaking roles was approximately 29.2%.

Although the amount of non-white actors appears to have increased,

reports state that the numbers have remained

at the same level since 2006

and this disparity was caused by a decrease

in white characters.

The amount of disabled characters was only 2.7%

despite the fact that 18.7% of the US population is disabled.

1.1% of characters in the Top 100 movies of the year

were reported to be LGBT,

But upon closer examination, only 24% had more than one LGBT character,

and only 20.1% of that number

were both non-white and LGB.

Perhaps this is partially because the directors making these American films

were mostly white men.

Not only were there only 56 black directors,

but only three of them were female.

Similarly, only two out of the 30 Asian directors were female.

Even two years later in a study done on

a thousand films within the last decade,

it was observed that not only are female directors of color still underrepresented,

but most of those directors would only make one film over the course of their entire career.

In the world of children's books, which are considered highly influential

on the perceptions of growing youth,

Roughly 25.4% of books received by the Cooperative Children's Book Center were about people of color.

And, according to the New York Times,

Only two books from the Top 10 print and online bestsellers of 2017 feature non-white main characters.

Perhaps these statistics don't match your individual experience of what representation is like.

In that case, try a brief thought experiment.

If you were to go to a library right now,

how easy would it be to find ten books

with a protagonist that is about the same age, ethnicity, and gender as you?

Or, alternatively,

Have you already been given the chance to see yourself

in a character who you can both relate to and who looks like you?

Perhaps your impression of representation

is that the media we consume is fine

and does not need to change to accommodate more people.

In that case ask yourself another question.

Does the amount of representation you receive affect your answer?

If you are a writer,

An artist,

An aspiring filmmaker

Or simply a person who enjoys consuming stories of various forms from all around them,

Perhaps you may notice a trend.

Part this trend is due to systemic issues.

Hollywood wants to make sure its movie protagonists are relatable everymen

which results in promotion of movies with white male leads

such as Chris Pratt, Chris Evans and Chris Pines/Hemsworth.

Because Hollywood wants to produce marketable films

with already famous white actresses.

Hollywood executives will choose to cast ScarJo

Not because ScarJo is better at playing an Asian woman than Rinko Kikuchi,

but because she has a bigger name.

However, if we accept the excuse

"There are no Asian actresses to take on this role"

We also ignore the fact that Hollywood is supposed to be the gate to new talent.

It should have been two director's job to send out a casting call for new actresses of color.

Of course there won't be diversity if you don't make a conscious effort to include someone.

So really, Hollywood is responsible for the very problem that it claims it can't solve.

Some of this trend is also due to individual responsibility.

White writers and artists who make up the majority of their respective industries

aren't expected to write diverse stories.

Therefore, most end up featuring white protagonists,

which are then perceived as the "default character."

If writers are not challenged to write about POC,

then diversity decreases and merely becomes a brownie point system.

Take "A Wrinkle in Time," for example.

Simply because the characters' race is not specified,

One would assume that they are white,

Even though there are people of color

who suffer from a similar situation as Meg,

and who live in the same location where the novel takes place.

If Ava DuVernay had not gone out of her way to cast POC in her adaptation,

the entire movie would have been about white people and had 0% diverse characters.

2018 would lose a movie about empowering young black girls

who have difficulty in school but an affinity for STEM.

There has not been any backlash regarding DuVernay's decision

to flesh out Meg's relationship with her father,

thus deviating from the original source material,

But suddenly her decision to change the casting, knowing that an actor's quality is not dependent on their ethnicity,

means that the movie is suddenly a violation of the author's intentions and therefore a bad adaptation?

Whereas "A Wrinkle in Time" uses its alternative casting to add a new angle to the story that empowers minorities,

"Ghost in the Shell" does the opposite.

By casting a young black girl in the role of Meg,

it becomes apparent that it's not impossible for young black girls to be nerdy and socially awkward and skilled at math,

and that they deserve their own place as heroes of an exciting sci-fi journey.

By casting Johansson as Major Kusanagi,

it becomes apparent that

Asian actresses

will always have to compete

with more famous white actresses.

Even when representing themselves.

Hollywood, believing Asian woman to be too non-confrontational to speak out,

has taken advantage of a loophole

and decided it does not matter

whether Asians respond positively or not.

Thus, instead of empowering the minority it should have catered to,

it only ends up alienating its target audience.

In other words,

Asian American fans of the anime who would have loved to see themselves on the screen.

People like me.

So what does this mean for us?

Well, looking back at the statistics from earlier,

Diversity has improved, but at a slow rate.

And the creative decisions that people make really do affect how a book or movie

will affect its audience.

For these reasons, we need to push for more movies like

Black Panther

and

A Wrinkle in Time

Which feature black characters as the hero.

Not the sidekick

Or a slave.

We need to push for more movies like

Coco

which not only research to communities it represents

but open doors to members of those communities as participants.

We need to recognize that

Whitewashing is a process that takes away,

whereas race-bending is one that includes,

and thus choose the one that allows us to normalize people of color

instead of further erasing them.

But more importantly, we should understand that media diversity isn't a laissez-faire quota system.

It's part of a culture that enriches and influences our understanding,

and it evolves.

What direction it takes, however, is up to us.

(Music: "It's Her Or Me" from "Miss Saigon")

(Sung) I know what pain her life today must be,

But if it all comes down to her or me...

I will wait.

I swear,

I'll fight.

It's her or me,

And it's ME he must choose,

I don't hate this girl.

Even so,

It's her or me,

It's a fight I can't lose...

I can't live, wondering where his heart is!

Now I have

To know...

What Banks Are Open or Closed on Memorial Day 2018 Holiday? | Heavy.com

Memorial Day is a federal holiday, which means there is no mail and certain finances are put on hold for the day as well.

While most banks are closed, a few do choose to stay open, so it may be best to check with your local branches.

Online banking and ATMs will, of course, remain open, though transactions such as transfers may not show up or become available until the next day.

Unfortunately, the stock market is also closed.

According to Right Line, additional holidays that the stock market is closed on include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr.

Day, Washington's Birthday (Presidents' Day), Good Friday, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

In addition, as reported by Right Line, the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE AMEX, the Federal Reserve Bank and NASDAQ will close early at 1 p.m.

ET on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

The NYSE, NYSE AMEX and NASDAQ will also close trading early (at 1 p.m.

ET) on Friday, November 23, 2018, which is the day after Thanksgiving.

According to Saving Advice, a couple banks will stay OPEN at certain branches and they include US Bank, PNC Bank supermarket branches; Huntington Bank in-store branches with holiday hours; and SunTrust in-store branches.

However, you should check with the local branches as they may have limited hours and not all branches are participating.

Banks that are CLOSED for the holiday include Citibank, Bank of America, HSBC, Keybank, Citizens Bank, Sovereign Bank, Capital One, Chase, Regions Bank, TD Bank, Union Bank, and Wells Fargo.

Go Banking Rates reports additional banks that are closed as well.

The full list of closures includes:.

Bank of America. Bank of the West.

BBVA Compass Bank. BMO Harris Bank.

Capital One Bank. Chase Bank.

Citibank. Citizens Bank.

Comerica Bank. Fifth Third Bank.

First Citizens Bank. HSBC Bank.

Huntington Bank. Huntington State Bank.

KeyBank. M&T Bank.

People's United Bank. PNC Bank.

Regions Bank. Santander Bank.

SunTrust Bank. TD Bank.

Union Bank. U.S. Bank. Wells Fargo.

Credit unions, post offices, libraries and many state liquor stores should be closed as well.

Any city, county, federal and state offices are closed, which means the DMV and court proceedings are not open.

Schools are also closed.

Other federal holidays for 2018 include: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr.

Day, Presidents' Day, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday in May.

And, as far as transportation goes, check your local schedules for trains and buses' holiday schedules.

For example, NJ Transit will operate its buses, trains and light rail on a holiday schedule, so it's important to use the NJ Transit station-to-station trip planner in order to check arrival and departure times.

This year, Memorial Day falls on the same date as National Hamburger Day, which means there could be additional deals in restaurants.

Many active military and veterans get a discount or freebies in certain restaurants for Memorial Day.

In addition, burger joints and other restaurants may have deals for burgers.

Monaco Grand Prix is here to stay – with or without grid girls - Duration: 6:42.

Monaco Grand Prix is here to stay – with or without grid girls Before the weekend a representative from Formula One management had been insistent that the race would not host the return of grid girls.

In January when they were dropped the commercial director, Sean Bratches, said grid girls were "at odds with modern day societal norms" and "not appropriate or relevant to F1". Monaco's "female sponsorship representatives" would not be standing in front of grid slots nor holding boards identifying drivers, therefore they were not, F1 avowed, grid girls. Which on Sunday transpired to be arrant nonsense.

Monaco most definitely had grid girls. Standing in front of grid slots and holding boards with the drivers' names on, albeit ones also displaying a message from a fan and with a 'grid boy' alongside them. They were dressed in revealing, sheer outfits and had the sponsor's logo painted on their shoulder blades. An object lesson in objectification if ever there was one.

F1's lofty ideal to move the sport into the 21st century had been summarily dismissed and its denials of the reality on Sunday were made to look almost laughable.

Six races in there has not been one without incident for Max Verstappen. What is of most concern, though, is that the young Dutchman does not seem to be learning from his mistakes. Most damning, the crash in FP3 that meant he missed qualifying was almost identical to the one he suffered in 2016.

He is young and plenty of other drivers have had their fair share of scrapes while learning their craft but Verstappen is in his fourth season and more is expected of him.

The team principal, Christian Horner, administered his sternest rebuke yet. "He needs to learn from it and stop making these errors. He knows that more than anybody," Horner said. He was joined by Red Bull's motorsport boss Helmut Marko.

"I think he is not patient enough," he said. "He wants always to be who he is, the fastest but the result is only when you cross the line." His recovery drive to ninth was well-handled but the damage had already been done.

Daniel Ricciardo had his redemption in Monaco and, according to Horner, in doing so he most definitely proved he had the right stuff, while across the pond his fellow Australian Will Power secured his first win at the Indy 500 for Penske.

The race in Monte Carlo was no thriller but it was at least tense as Ricciardo had to juggle his MGU-K failure with staying out of the walls, managing his car and not giving any incentive to Sebastian Vettel.

"He could have been in Apollo 13, the way he was dealing with the issues," said Horner, in reference to the 1970 lunar mission that famously encountered trouble. Horner admitted the team had suggested they should retire the car but he wanted to run it until the engine gave out and he proved right to do so.

The 37-year old Power made it a down under double at Indianapolis and the 2014 IndyCar champion admitted he was screaming with joy throughout his final lap as he became the first Aussie to win the prestigious race at the Brickyard.

A procession in Monaco is nothing new but that so many senior drivers were so critical of it is less usual. Many fans have long decried the event and called for it to be dropped, which is highly unlikely.

Regardless of the fact that the race often presents a less than thrilling spectacle, it is still highly valued as the one that attracts attention across the world. Equally the drivers do generally still rate the challenge it presents and it is where the teams do a huge amount of business in sponsorship and hospitality. The principality does not pay to host the race and F1 will not drop it. But it could be changed.

Hamilton has suggested changing the layout, the format and the rules to mandate tyre stops. These would be huge changes across a season but since Monaco is a unique meeting, race-specific adjustments for it seem entirely reasonable.

It would require some bold action but, if the result was racing that actually lived up to the interest the meeting attracts, its position as F1's shop window to a global audience would be truly justified.

Both Hamilton and Mercedes' team principal, Toto Wolff, had warned that Monaco was likely to be a struggle for the team and once there they formally conceded that their car had again been optimised to run on the medium and high-speed circuits.

With Hamilton third on the grid it was the best they expected. "The drivers extracted the pace of the car," Wolff said. "All of us believe that this is the pace of the car around Monaco. You have to be realistic.

We're trying to achieve the best car for 21 races to come out with the most points, and therefore you have to compromise with some of the circuits." Hamilton confirmed this after the race and that the team's long game was similar to last season.

"We know that here and Singapore will be our toughest races but hopefully our car will be better at the majority of races," he said. Which made dropping only three points to Vettel here an absolute boon.

"I am grateful that I only lost three points," he added. "Would l like to have won the Monaco GP? Hell, yes. Would l like to win the world championship? Hell, yes.
