My Equipment for Making Woodworking Videos - Duration: 4:29.

My Equipment for Making Woodworking Videos. If you're gonna shoot your

woodworking videos, it would probably be a good idea to have a camera.

I am shooting this video today using an iPhone 7 and that certainly could work for people,

but for my purposes I use a Canon T6i In fact, I use two of them. What I like to

do is have one set up for a wide-angle view and one set up for close-ups and

then in my software I can sync those up. I use what's is called a multicam view and

then switch back and forth between which view is best for whatever I'm discussing.

For my cameras, I decided to buy a supplemental battery pack that connects

to electricity that way I don't have to worry about one of the biggest hassles

of shooting videos- which is having your batteries go down on one of your devices.

For the enhanced sound system, which you should do, I use a lavalier system. These

are from K & F Concept. One of the units plugs into a camera the other unit

I wear on me with a lavalier mic and they connect wirelessly. I found this

unit works very very well Of course so cameras have a sound recorder built in.

The last element is lighting. You can get a number of LED lights and position

them where you need them. In this case I'm using Neewer CN-160

It runs on a battery and so I have some spare batteries to

make sure those are charged up before I start video taping. That's an overview of

my equipment. Next I'll show you how I arrange the equipment in the shop using

a series of pipes that I put across the ceiling. Let's back up

here and talk about the primary infrastructure for the lights and the cameras.

I took some one half inch pipes and hung them from the walls and ceiling

with flanges. I put them in

various positions overhead in my garage over each of the workstations and

stretching from wall to wall and so what I have is a network of pipes that gives

me a lot of flexibility as to where I'm going to put my cameras. I take tripods

(you just end up acquiring those over the years) and I build little attachments

in order to hang them up like bats, upside down on,

the pipes That's gives me the ability to hang

not only lights but I can also hang my cameras where I want them. I think

it's important when you get to the point where you want to do it to have multiple

cameras so that you can do different views more easily. For my lighting I

obviously have this big circle light in in addition I have a light overhead

shining on the tool wall and that's just on a simple tripod with a simple bicycle

hook. Those are very easy to put up and then I have a second light that

shines down on the top of my head and my shoulders and that's another cheap tripod

on a bicycle hook. And then I have another one for

illuminating the side of my face and that one is hanging from one of the pipes. Very easy to move everything.

Well, that is my setup and I hope you find it helpful in setting up your video production

Small Workshop Guy, signing off!

you

The Origin Of The BuzzFeed Creep With Bobby - Duration: 4:18.

(upbeat music)

^- Hello, I'm here with Bobby.

^- Hi.

- [Ella] Bobby was one of the first

BuzzFeed Video employees back in the day.

When did you start?

- [Bobby] Like 2013.

- [Ella] Back in an office that we called Stony Bros.

- And this is the backdrop of early days

where it's like, what is a BuzzFeed video?

- Yeah, so it didn't help our image at all.

Like, a few times, we had celebrities come by,

and I was like, yep, this is our trash hole.

- [Bobby] Yeah.

- We didn't have interns

or really anyone to help out with anything,

so I remember that dishes would pile up in the sink.

- [Bobby] Mm-hmm.

There was a huge gnat--

- There was a gnat problem.

- I think we ended up moving because of the gnats,

'cause we just didn't want to deal with it anymore.

- We were just like, here, just take it, gnats.

- There were so many, and I remember in the videos,

you could sometimes see them flying through the frame.

- Guys, I found out why we have fruit flies.

(singing dramatically)

- Then after that, we moved to a house.

- My office was in a bedroom,

and other people working at Buzzfeed

would just lay on the bed.

- I had my one bed that I would work from,

and I would be all cozy, and I would be editing from it.

- Yeah.

- What were the things that you did,

like, your favorite things

that you did while you were at Buzzfeed?

- The Creep videos.

^- Yeah, they were a hugely popular series

^back in the day, starring Andrew Ilnyckyj.

How did that come about?

That was such a funny, very unique video series.

- [Bobby] So, Andrew was an intern at the time.

- [Ella] Yeah.

- [Bobby] And I just liked his voice.

If he says anything, it's hilarious.

And we did this video, I think it's called

Tea Versus Coffee?

- Yes! - Where it's just

his voiceover, and it was so funny,

and we were trying to figure out something,

and I don't know how it came up,

but the Creep thing came up.

There was a mystery about him.

^- Yeah, his voice was really deep.

- I really like your style.

I think I'll follow you.

- The first one you shot was in Stony Bros.

^- It was just like the creepy person in the office,

^and so, there was no frame,

and it was just him being a weirdo,

and that's maybe my favorite one

because there is no point to it.

- There's no point, and it's just like,

back in the day, we didn't really have any lights.

The vibe of this video is very shadowy,

and it's like, what is happening?

- What was the one that catapulted into super stardom?

- [Ella] 'Cause that one didn't really take off.

^- [Bobby] No, I think it was Creepy Things Girls Do?

^- [Ella] Yeah, that had like five million views.

- [Bobby] Yeah.

It was like our biggest hit of all time, at the time.

- [Andrew] I'm not wearing any underwear.

- I knew we hit the big time when some

German magazine called, Buzzfeed, and was like,

"We want to interview Andrew," or something.

And I was like, what?

- Yeah, and it was just this thing where

he didn't even have a name, really.

- [Bobby] No.

He was just called "Buzzfeed Creep."

- And, to be fair,

I don't think Andrew completely loved being the creep.

Like, he was resistant.

- [Ella] He did it.

- [Bobby] And the other thing that I enjoyed

about the Creep series was my friend Matt,

who I knew since film school, basically was

the punching bag in every Creep.

So, I just enjoyed taunting Matt.

- [Matt] I just have no idea why they

have to make three Hobbit movies.

(glass smashing)

- He was a great character in all of it.

Our favorite role, that we always

talk about, when he played Gerald.

- [Bobby] That was a roommate video.

- [Ella] Yeah.

- [Bobby] That was my last video at Buzzfeed,

was the roommate video, and I,

of course, had to torture Matt.

I don't know where the hell it came from.

But it was this weird character who had a dead squirrel,

that he needed to refrigerate.

- We reference Gerald all the time.

So, Bobby, what have you been up to all these years?

- [Bobby] I made a feature film.

- [Ella] Oh, my god!

- [Bobby] It's called, The Cleanse.

- [Ella] When is it out?

- It comes out May 4th.

- Oh my gosh, you guys.

If you guys want to check out the trailer,

the link is in the description below.

Give it a watch.

Give it a thumbs up.

Thank you Bobby, for coming, for reminiscing.

Hopefully you guys will check out his movie,

and hopefully we'll see you back here.

- Well, thank you.

- Goodbye, little guy.

- Bye.

- Bye.

Will Bathing in Champagne Get You Drunk? - Duration: 4:16.

- Alright, let's see.

What! Shut the (beep) up!

(funky music)

- Hey, I'm Zack, and today I am taking a bath in champagne

to see if I can get drunk through my skin.

Why champagne?

Because champagne is the highest proof alcohol

that Buzzfeed's legal team would allow us to do.

Also, I like bubbles.

There's not a lot of research

on whether or not you can absorb alcohol through your skin,

so we're going to do this for you, for science.

I've got some friends here to help,

put champagne on me.

Keith, we got Shane, looks like Annie's here,

this is my best friend Ben from New York.

Ben is a doctor and has informed me

that I should be concerned about a UTI,

because, uh, alcohol has sugars,

and sugars in your pee-pee hole is a bad time.

So I'm wearing a condom, and I've rapped it

with rubber bands, this is a very confusing day.

Don't zoom in, don't do that.

But first, to prove that I am not yet drunk,

I am going to take a Breathalyzer.

I didn't have enough breath.

Well, it's zeroes, let's just trust that, huh?

Let's do it!

I mean, let's take our clothes off.

I am, potentially, a little worried.

I'm mostly just worried that it's going to stain.

But, you know, it's Friday, so let's party.

Who wants to pour stuff on me?

(funky music)

- [Woman's Voice] Don't drink any, it's not scientific!

- Sorry, I spit it out.

I'm not drunk yet, but this is definitely

a weird fever dream.

(laughs)

- I don't know, I feel great.

- [Man's Voice] Yeah?

- I feel very relaxed.

- [Man's Voice] Should we Breathalyze him now?

- [Woman's Voice] Yeah, let's do a Breathalyzer.

- Alright, let's see.

What! Shut the (beep) up!

- [Man's Voice] It says .063.

- It says "danger".

(laughing)

- [Man's Voice] However, there's a lot of fumes in the air.

- There's a lot of fumes, it's like, beeping "danger".

- [Man's Voice] Maybe you're butt-chugging on accident.

- [Man In Green] One. It's in the caution level,

and there's a frowny face blinking.

- [Zack] It's really hard right now to know if this is

a placebo or real, but I definitely feel, I feel loopy.

- [Man In Green] Yeah?

- Uh-huh.

- We basically, right now we're trying to see,

is the Breathalyzer picking up on me

or is it just picking up on this.

So Keith is joining me, he's a good bud.

- I'm going to let the fumes get into my mouth.

- Alright, take a Breathalyzer.

- [Zack] My testicles, uh, feel tingly.

- .39?

Not 039, either?

.39?

I'm dead!

I'm dead at this point.

Through our experimentation, we found that anyone

who Breathalyzes right here, it will read way too high.

So we're going to take Zack, get him out of this tub,

douse him with water,

so he doesn't have any fumes on his own body,

and Breathalyze him.

And that should tell us, definitively,

if he's drunk or not.

- Oh it's so cold!

- [Keith] Stop jumping away from it!

- Well, stop making it bad!.

- [Keith] Pretend it's a shampoo commercial.

- I'm your venus.

- [Keith] That's a shaving commercial.

- I'm your fire.

I'm really hoping that I'm at least a little something.

- .02

- (beep) yeah! We did it, America.

- It does seem like his body did absorb some alcohol.

- So, what did we learn here today?

Very exciting, this is a definitive piece

of scientific literature from this point forward.

So my takeaways here are:

if you have $300 and a lot of friends,

then you too can barely get tipsy in a bathtub.

- Yeah, I guess this is not a very

economical way to get drunk.

(funky music)

(yelling)

WHY are your videos DEMONETIZED?! - Duration: 2:49.

So let's move on to the topic of demonetization of videos

Is that a type of censorship?

Let's find out

As a content creator, I make videos and I use a platform called YouTube

It's their platform, and I don't need to make money to do that

They need to make money to offer me this platform

So whether or not

Ads shall be put on my videos

is up to them

It's their platform, and they're the ones who need money to keep this platform going

If they don't want to put ads on one of my videos, or rather if the companies that buy ad time from them,

don't want to put ads on a type of videos that I make

then my videos will not be monitized

This is not censorship

This is reality, that's how business works

If people don't want to pay for your product

They don't buy it

Apparently YouTube uses some sort of bot to find out whether or not they shall monetize a video

and quite often it seems

They end up demonetizing videos pretty randomly

because the bot doesn't seem to work very well

You can have a demonetized video where you talk about your chicken

and you can have a monetized video where you talk about (((them)))

I don't think this is ill intentions on YouTube's behalf

I think it's just crappy bots not working as they should

I don't like everything YouTube does

I don't like the changes we see

but

It's not my platform, I'm just a guest here

I am allowed to use their platform and

I think it's great that I can

If some of my videos are not monetized and some of videos are monetized

Fine
