Our Senses: What Sluggish Sloths Tell Us About Balance - Duration: 1:48.

[MUSIC PLAYS]

>>ROB DESALLE, CURATOR: Balance and hearing are usually associated with each other because

the organs that do the sensing of sound waves and that detect position, they're very close

to each other.

They're in the inner ear.

They work in somewhat the same fashion, too.

The cochlea that detects the sound waves has fluid in it, and interacts by the hairs being

bent by the fluid.

Balance, on the other hand, has three little structures called semicircular canals arranged

in an X-Y-Z coordinate fashion.

These three semicircular canals are filled with fluid, too, and are lined with hairs.

And so, if you bend a little bit forward, what you're going to do is cause the fluid

to go in the Z direction, and that's going to tell your brain, "Oh, I'm bending forward."

Sometimes, balance is not that important for animals.

Three-toed sloths are awesome because they live in trees, and they've evolved to be

very, very slow.

They rarely come out of the tree except to poop.

And when they do their movements and balance are very, very herky-jerky.

The reason for this is that their semicircular canals have started to degrade.

They're a really great example of how a sense is no longer needed and becomes vestigial.

Attacking Ourselves Top Doctors Reveal Vaccines Turn Our Immune System Against Us - Duration: 25:12.

Attacking Ourselves Top Doctors Reveal Vaccines Turn Our Immune System Against Us

by Edward Morgan

The research is hard to ignore, vaccines can trigger autoimmunity with a laundry list of

diseases to follow. With harmful and toxic metals as some vaccine ingredients, who is

susceptible and which individuals are more at risk?

No one would accuse Yehuda Shoenfeld of being a quack. The Israeli clinician has spent more

than three decades studying the human immune system and is at the pinnacle of his profession.

You might say he is more foundation than fringe in his specialty; he wrote the textbooks.

The Mosaic of Autoimmunity, Autoantibodies, Diagnostic Criteria in Autoimmune Diseases,

Infection and Autoimmunity, Cancer and Autoimmunity the list is 25 titles long and some of

them are cornerstones of clinical practice. Hardly surprising that Shoenfeld has been

called the Godfather of Autoimmunology the study of the immune system turned

on itself in a wide array of diseases from type 1 diabetes to ulcerative colitis and

multiple sclerosis.

But something strange is happening in the world of immunology lately and a small evidence

of it is that the Godfather of Autoimmunology is pointing to vaccines specifically,

some of their ingredients including the toxic metal aluminum as a significant contributor

to the growing global epidemic of autoimmune diseases. The bigger evidence is a huge body

of research thats poured in in the past 15 years, and particularly in the past five

years. Take for example, a recent article published in the journal Pharmacological Research

in which Shoenfeld and colleagues issue unprecedented guidelines naming four categories of people

who are most at risk for vaccine-induced autoimmunity.

On one hand, vaccines prevent infections which can trigger autoimmunity, say the papers

authors, Alessandra Soriano, of the Department of Clinical Medicine and Rheumatology at the

Campus Bio-Medico University in Rome, Gideon Nesher, of the Hebrew University Medical School

in Jerusalem and Shoenfeld, founder and head of the Zabludowicz Center of Autoimmune Diseases

in the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. He is also editor of three medical journals

and author of more than 1,500 research papers across the spectrum of medical journalism

and founder of the International Congress on Autoimmunology. On the other hand, many

reports that describe post-vaccination autoimmunity strongly suggest that vaccines can indeed

trigger autoimmunity. Defined autoimmune diseases that may occur following vaccinations include

arthritis, lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE) diabetes mellitus, thrombocytopenia,

vasculitis, dermatomyosiositis, Guillain-Barre syndrome and demyelinating disorders. Almost

all types of vaccines have been reported to be associated with the onset of ASIA.

ASIA or Autoimmune/inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants (also known as Shoenfelds

syndrome) first appeared in the Journal of Autoimmunology four years ago. It is an

umbrella term for a collection of similar symptoms, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,

that result after exposure to an adjuvant an environmental agent including common

vaccine ingredients that stimulate the immune system. Since then an enormous body of research,

using ASIA as a paradigm, has begun to unravel the mystery of how environmental toxins, particularly

the metal aluminum used in vaccines, can trigger an immune system chain reaction in susceptible

individuals and may lead to overt autoimmune disease.

Autoimmune disease results when the bodys system meant to attack foreign invaders turns

instead to attack part of the body it belongs to (auto is Greek for self). If the immune

system is like a national defence system, antibodies are like drones programmed to recognize

a certain type of invader (a bacteria say) and to destroy them or mark them for destruction

by other special forces. Autoantibodies are like drones that are misidentifying a component

of the human body and have launched a sustained attack on it. If they mistakenly target a

component of the conductive sheath around neurons, for example, nerve impulses stop

conducting properly, muscles go into spasm and coordination fails; multiple sclerosis

results. If autoantibodies erroneously focus on joint tissue; rheumatoid arthritis results.

If they target the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, Type 1 diabetes, and so on

Throughout our lifetime the normal immune system walks a fine line between preserving

normal immune reactions and developing autoimmune diseases, says the paper. The healthy

immune system is tolerant to self-antigens. When self-tolerance is disturbed, dysregulation

of the immune system follows, resulting in emergence of an autoimmune disease. Vaccination

is one of the conditions that may disturb this homeostasis in susceptible individuals,

resulting in autoimmune phenomena and ASIA.

Who is susceptible is the subject of the paper entitled, Predicting post-vaccination

autoimmunity: Who might be at risk? It lists four categories of people: 1) those

who have had a previous autoimmune reaction to a vaccine, 2) anyone with a medical history

of autoimmunity, 3) patients with a history of allergic reactions, 4) anyone at high risk

of developing autoimmune disease including anyone with a family history of autoimmunity,

presence of autoantibodies which are detectable by blood tests and other factors including

low vitamin D and smoking.

PREVIOUS REACTION

Regarding those who have had a previous adverse reaction to vaccines, the paper cites five

relevant studies including the case of a death of a teenage girl six months following her

third Gardasil injection against HPV virus. She had experienced a range of symptoms shortly

after her first dose, including dizziness, numbness and tingling in her hands, and memory

lapses. After her second injection, she developed intermittent arm weakness, frequent tiredness

requiring daytime naps, worse tingling, night sweats, chest pain and palpitations.

A full autopsy was unrevealing but blood and spleen tissue analysis revealed HPV-16 L1

gene DNA fragments matching the DNA found in vials of the Gardasil vaccine against cervical

cancer thus implicating the vaccine as a causal factor. The DNA fragments had

also been found to be complexed with the aluminum adjuvant which, according to the

report, have been shown to persist for up to 8 to 10 years causing chronic immune system

stimulation.

Although data is limited, Shoenfeld and his colleagues concluded, it seems

preferable that individuals with prior autoimmune or autoimmune-like reactions to vaccinations,

should not be immunized, at least not with the same type of vaccine.

ESTABLISHED AUTOIMMUNE CONDITION

The second group which the paper cites for vaccine exemption is patients with established

autoimmune conditions. Vaccines dont work so well in them, say Shoenfeld and his

colleagues, and they are at risk for flares following vaccination. Inoculations that

contain live viruses including chickenpox, yellow fever and the measles, mumps and rubella

triple vaccine (MMR) are generally contraindicated for people with autoimmune conditions because

of the risk of uncontrolled viral replication. But inactivated vaccines are not such a good

idea either because they usually contain the added ingredient aluminum, linked to autoimmunity.

The immunologists describe recent studies in which patients with autoimmune rheumatic

disease given the influenza vaccine (without aluminum) suffered more joint pain and fever

than controls and whose levels of autoantibodies (the drones that attack self) increased after

receiving the flu vaccine. Whats more, they developed new types of autoantibodies

that werent present before the vaccines, and those persisted. As the presence of autoantibodies

can be predictive of developing autoimmune disease in patients without symptoms, even

years ahead of disease onset, this is troubling to those who understand immunology.

A number of studies claim vaccines are safe for the overwhelming majority of patients

with established autoimmune diseases, the study allows, but they only looked at rheumatoid

arthritis and lupus and not at severe and active cases so the potential benefit of

vaccination should be weighed against its potential risk, they cautioned.

PATIENTS WITH A HISTORY OF ALLERGY

Vaccine trials have usually excluded vulnerable individuals only extremely healthy individuals

with no allergies are recruited. Its a selection bias, say Soriano and Shoenfeld,

and has likely resulted in serious adverse events being considerably underestimated

in real life where vaccines are mandated to all individuals regardless of their susceptibility.

The true incidence of allergic reactions to vaccines, normally estimated at between one

in 50,000 to one in a million doses, is probably much higher and particularly where gelatin

or egg proteins are on the ingredients list, they say.

Theres a long list of vaccine ingredients that are potential allergens: besides the

infectious agents themselves, there are those from hens egg, horse serum, bakers yeast,

numerous antibiotics, formaldehyde and lactose, as well inadvertent ingredients such

as latex. Peoples allergic histories have to be taken before vaccination say the researchers.

But some signs of reaction dont show up until after the shot.

The public health nurse or GP might tell patients that a long-lasting swelling around the injection

site after a vaccine is a normal reaction, for example. But that is not what the immunologists

say. [A]luminum sensitization manifests as nodules [hard lumps] at the injection site

that often regress after weeks or months, but may persist for years. In such cases,

they say, a patch test can be done to confirm sensitivity and to avoid vaccination.

According to a growing body of research, though, allergy may be only the beginning of many

dangerous aluminum-induced phenomena.

THE TROUBLE WITH ALUMINUM

Aluminum has been added to vaccines since about 1926 when Alexander Glenny and colleagues

noticed it would produce better antibody responses in vaccines than the antigen alone. Glenny

figured the alum was inducing what he called a depot effect slowing the release

of the antigen and heightening the immune response. For 60 years his theory was accepted

dogma. And over the same time, the vaccine schedule grew decade on decade, but few ever

questioned the effects of injecting aluminum into the body, which is strange considering

its known toxicity.

A PubMed search on aluminum and toxicity turns up 4,258 entries. Its neurotoxicity

is well documented. It affects memory, cognition, psychomotor control; it damages the blood

brain barrier, activates brain inflammation, depresses mitochondrial function and plenty

of research suggests it is a key player in the formation of the amyloid plaques

and tangles in the brains of Alzheimers patients. Its been implicated in Amyotrophic

Lateral Sclerosis and autism and demonstrated to induce allergy.

When kidney dialysis patients were accidentally infused with aluminum, the dialysis-induced

encephalopathy (DAE) they developed neurological symptoms: speech abnormalities, tremors, memory

loss, impaired concentration and behavioural changes. Many of the patients eventually went

into comas and died. The lucky ones survived: when the source of toxicity, aluminum, was

removed from their dialysis they recovered rapidly.

With these new observations, researchers began investigating the adjuvant effects of aluminum

and in the past decade there has been a flurry of research. Far from being a sandbag that

holds the antigen for a while and then gets excreted, it turns out that aluminum salts

trigger a storm of defence action. Within hours of injection of the same aluminum oxyhydroxide

in vaccines into mice, for example, armies of specialized immune cells are on the move,

calling in grid coordinates for more specialist assault forces. Within a day, a whole host

of immune system commandos are in play neutrophils, eosinophils, inflammatory monocytes, myeloid

and dendritic cells, activating lymphocytes and secreting proteins called cytokines. The

cytokines themselves cause collateral damage but they send out signals, directing cell-to-cell

communication and recruiting other cells into action. If the next phase of the attack is

launched: fibroblast growth factor, interferons, interleukins, platelet derived growth factor,

transforming growth factor and tumour necrosis factor might all be engaged. Theres evidence

that poorly understood and pesky inflammasomes, (currently a topic of cutting- edge cancer

causation research) such as the Nod-like receptor 3( NLRP) are activated too, but its all

still too early to say exactly what theyre doing.

New research emerging from University of British Columbia has found that aluminum adjuvant

injected into mice can alter the expression of genes associated with autoimmunity. And

in their recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, immunologists

at the University of Colorado found that even host DNA is recruited into the aluminum assault,

that it rapidly coats injected alum, triggering effects that scientists have barely scratched

the surface of understanding.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MACROPHAGIC MYOFASCIITIS

This mobility or translocation of aluminum in the body is perhaps the most disturbing

of the mounting evidence in current aluminum research. In 1998, French researcher Romain

Gherardi and his colleagues observed an emerging condition of unknown origin which presented

in patients post-vaccination with Chronic Fatigue like symptoms including swollen lymph

nodes, joint and muscle pain and exhaustion. Tissue biopsies of the patients deltoid

revealed lesions up to 1 cm in diameter and unique from similar lesions of other diseases.

They went to the lab for analysis and to Gherardis astonishment, they mainly consisted of macrophages

large white blood cells in the immune system whose job is to swallow up foreign

invaders in the body. Enclosed in the cellular fluid of these phagocytes were agglomerates

of nanocrystals of aluminum.

Gherardi and his colleagues began injecting mice with aluminum to see what happened. Their

research published in 2013 revealed that the metal particles were engulfed by macrophages

and formed MMF-like granulomas that dispersed to distant lymph nodes, spleen, liver

and eventually brain.

This strongly suggests that long-term adjuvant biopersistence within phagocytic cells is

a prerequisite of slow brain translocation and delayed neurotoxicity, writes Gherardi

in his February 2015 review of the relevant research in Frontiers in Neurology.

A more frightening animal study of aluminum is that of Spanish veterinary researcher Lluis

Lujans study of ovine ASIA. After huge numbers of sheep in Spain died in 2008 in

the wake of a compulsory multiple vaccine campaign against bluetongue in Spain in 2008,

Lujan set out to find out what killed them and he began by inoculating them with

aluminum.

His 2013 study found that only 0.5% of sheep inoculated with aluminum vaccines showed immediate

reactions of lethargy, transient blindness, stupor, prostration and seizures characterized

by a severe meningoencephalitis, similar to postvaccine reactions seen in humans. Most

of them recovered, temporarily, but postmortem exams of the ones who didnt revealed acute

brain inflammation.

The delayed onset chronic phase of the disease affected far more of the sheep 50-70%

of flocks and sometimes virtually 100% of animals within a given flock, usually including

all of those who had previously recovered. The reaction was frequently triggered by exposure

to cold and began with restlessness and compulsive wool-biting, then progressed to acute redness

of the skin, generalized weakness, extreme weight loss and muscle tremors, and finally,

entered the terminal phase where the animals went down on their front quarters, became

comatose and died. Post-mortem examinations revealed severe neuron necrosis and

aluminum in the nerve tissue.

The immune systems reaction to aluminum represents a major health challenge,

Gerhardi declares in his recent review, and he adds that attempts to seriously examine

safety concerns raised by the bio-persistent character and brain accumulation of alum particles

have not been made A lot must be done to understand how, in certain individuals, alum-containing

vaccines may become insidiously unsafe.

Back to the problem of which certain individuals should avoid vaccination to avoid autoimmune

disease.

PEOPLE PRONE TO DEVELOP AUTOIMMUNITY

Soriano and Shoenfelds identify a final category: anyone at risk of developing autoimmune

disease. Since a number of them have been shown to have genetic factors that would include

anyone with a family history of autoimmune disease. It also includes anyone who has tested

positive for autoantibodies which can indicate disease years before symptoms show up. Vaccinations,

the doctors say, may trigger or worsen the disease.

Smokers too, have an exceptionally high risk of developing an autoimmune disease, says

the report. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 18% of Americans smoke. That means

about 42 million Americans have an elevated risk of developing an autoimmune disease and

theyre stacking the odds with every vaccine.

And finally, factors that Shoenfeld and Soriano associate with high risk of developing autoimmunity

are high estrogen and low vitamin D which means anyone taking birth control or hormone

replacement therapy and, according to one 2009 study of vitamin D status, about three

quarters of American teens and adults should be wary of vaccines.

Shoenfeld doesnt seem to mean to exclude all of these people from immunization, however.

The paper concludes that for the overwhelming majority of individuals, vaccines carry no

risk of systemic autoimmune disease and should be administered according to current recommendations.

Which is in stark contrast to the body of the paper. The final word is cautionary about

weighing the potential benefit of vaccinationagainst its potential risk.

Its exemplary of a strange sort of schizophrenia in a wide range of recent immunology papers.

The doctors seem to be trying to reconcile a century of safe and effective vaccine

dogma with the last decades worth of terrifying research findings. Theres a lot of on

the one hand and on the other hand in them.

The new research seems about to gain the upper hand, however. A 2013 overview of ASIA by

six immunologists including Shoenfeld, for example, is a catalogue of vaccine side effects

from Gardasil deaths, narcolepsy epidemics, infertility, chronic fatigue, dead sheep and

aluminum-addled brains. It is rife with statements that would have been virtually unheard of

inside mainstream medicine a decade ago. Like this shocker:

Perhaps, in twenty years, physicians will be dueling with better characterized particles

of autoimmunity, and the vaccines may become fully safe as well as effective. Nonetheless

the recognition of ASIA has initiated the change to put more efforts in identifying

the good, the bad and the ugly of vaccines and in particular of adjuvants as triggers

of autoimmunity. Bad and ugly of vaccines? Whats wrong with the adjuvants? Thats

not in the CDC hand-out.

Or how about this one:

Despite the huge amount of money invested in studying vaccines, there are few observational

studies and virtually no randomized clinical trials documenting the effect on mortality

of any of the existing vaccines. One recent paper found an increased hospitalization rate

with the increase of the number of vaccine doses and a mortality rate ratio for 5-8 vaccine

doses to 1-4 doses of 1.5, indicating a statistically significant increase of deaths associated

with higher vaccine doses. Since vaccines are given to millions of infants annually,

it is imperative that health authorities have scientific data from synergistic toxicity

studies on all combinations of vaccines That could be any anti-vaxxer jabbering onbut

its not.

But here is the topper:

The US Supreme Court ruled that vaccines makers are immune from lawsuits charging that

the design of the vaccine is defective. Thus there is need for innovative clinical trial

design and the vaccines themselves should be redesigned. Immunologists including

the worlds leading authority on autoimmunity are saying it is time to take vaccines back

to the drawing board.

Autoimmune disease is the third leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and now

among the top 10 killers of young American women. The American Autoimmune Related Diseases

Association estimates that 50 million Americans suffer from one of 88 autoimmune diseases

from type 1 diabetes to systemic lupus erythematosus and some research puts the

figure at one in five globally. At least 40 more diseases are suspected to be immune-mediated.

Most of them are devastating frequently crippling, expensive to treat and incurable.

And they are increasing at an astonishing pace.

At this stage, it looks like the more the research pours in, the harder it is going

to get for pro-vaccine immunologists to keep multiple personality disorder or complete

nervous breakdown at bay. Ten years of cutting edge research into aluminums effects

on the immune system has revealed primarily how wrong they were. And how little they know.

If, after 90 years, doctors finally have begun to seriously examine the mechanism and question

the merits of injecting metal toxins into newborn babies, what have they yet to discover?

ASIA sounds awful. (Too bad for all the people whose kids suffered through chronic fatigue

when it was just a Freudian yearning to sleep with their mother.) But what if, like Lujans

sheep, the negligible minority that has been paying the price for the good of

humanity is actually only the tip of the iceberg? What if some people with no apparent adverse

immune reactions still have nanocrystals of aluminum silently depositing in their brains?

What if ASIA really includes Alzheimers? ALS, autism? ADD? And thats just the As.

Even if immunologists keep wearing their rose coloured glasses, and vaccine ingredients

are only responsible for a tiny fraction of the exploding autoimmunity, the ugly

in vaccines will still get harder and harder to ignore. When everyone on the planet is

getting injected, 20 years is a long time for disabled people to stack up while scientists

duel with the characterized particles of autoimmunity. In the fury over the Disneyland

measles outbreak that is gripping the worlds vaccine promoters, time is running out for

doctors and researchers who see the bad and ugly side of vaccines and their adjuvants

to do something about it. Theres slim chance of a vaccine redesign in the absence of a

profit incentive and a strong chance of universal vaccine mandates for one and all previous

anaphylactic shock reaction or not.

How to Pronounce SQUIRREL (US, UK & Australian pronunciation) | English Pronunciation - Duration: 4:35.

Hi everyone, welcome back to English with Max. This video is a request from

one of my Brazilian subscribers. I don't speak Portuguese, so I'm not quite sure

how your name is pronounced, but I think it's "Júlio". Anyway, Júlio asked me to do

a video on the pronunciation of this word.

I know it's a difficult word for many non-native English speakers, and to be

honest, seeing as I used to have a slight problem with my Ls, it used to be a

difficult word for me too. Interestingly, the word for this animal is also quite

difficult in a couple of other languages. In German, for example, it's "Eichhörnchen",

which is quite a mouthful.

Apparently during World War II, the Germans used this word as a test to

detect Dutch spies. In other words, even if they could speak perfect German, if

they couldn't say this word correctly, they weren't German. I don't know how

true that is, but it's an interesting story. In French it's also kind of hard:

écureuil. In Spanish it's probably a bit easier: ardilla.

But for me it's still a little tricky because there's an R followed by a D.

In British English it's pronounced: squirrel. Squirrel. I'll say it slowly:

Squi-rrel. The vowel in the first syllable is "ih". "Squih".

The vowel in the second syllable is the schwa sound: eh. With the L it's: ehl. Ehl. Squirrel.

In American English it's: squirrel. Squirrel. I'll say it slowly: squirr-el.

The vowel in the first syllable is "er", like in the American

pronunciations of the words "nurse" and "bird". The vowel in the second syllable is

the schwa sound, like in the British pronunciation. But obviously it will be

pronounced a little differently because the American accent is different.

Squirrel. Squirrel.

In Australia we say it more or less how the British say it:

squirrel. Squirrel.

Clearly, how you choose to say it is your choice, but

I personally think that the British or Australian way is

easier for non-native speakers. Even if your accent is closer in general to an

American accent, if you find the American pronunciation of squirrel difficult, then

just say it the British way. Everybody will still understand you. If you have

problems with any of the individual sounds in the word, like the R sound,

the "err", there are lots of videos on YouTube which explain exactly how to

position your tongue and mouth. Apart from that, the only piece of advice I can

give you is: practise. Just say it slowly first. Then faster. Then practise saying

it in a sentence. For example: I see a squirrel in the tree.

Good luck!

That is all, folks. I hope you've enjoyed this video. Don't hesitate to leave me a

comment in the comments section. Hit the thumbs up if you liked the video, and

don't forget to subscribe. See you next time!

That's evil.

Unless people's votes don't actually count;

then it's fine.

This is China Uncensored.

Hi, welcome to China Uncensored,

I'm your host Chris Chappell.

In our top story,

North Korea has successfully completed

another missile test.

According to the totally unbiased reporting

from state-run media,

it's capable of striking

"anywhere in whole US mainland."

Don't worry,

because US President Donald Trump

still has a good bromance going on

with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

After a phone call,

new sanctions are on the way!

But there's one thing the Chinese regime

is still exporting to North Korea: refugees.

Like one mother and son who were recently caught

attempting to flee North Korea.

They crossed the border into China,

ultimately on their way to South Korea.

That's where the husband/father is waiting

after himself fleeing in 2015.

His name is Lee,

and he's sent a message to Xi Jinping

begging him to save his family.

"When defectors are caught

trying to go to South Korea,

Lee tells me they're sent to political camps,

and never leave.

From what I know, in 2–3 years,

maybe less, you'll wither to death."

The Chinese regime should know how wrong that is!

They've been able to keep prisoners alive

in Chinese forced labor camps for over a decade...

before they wither to death.

But not wanting to be outdone by North Korea,

either in cruelty or missile technology,

the Chinese regime is close to rolling out

its own ballistic missile capable of striking

anywhere in the world.

They even broadcast a series of videos

on state-run TV about it.

But don't worry.

The Chinese Communist Party

is committed to world peace.

They only kill innocent people inside China.

Speaking of people inside China,

a Chinese court this week sentenced

a Taiwanese activist to five years in prison.

We talked about Lee Ming-che back in September.

Well this week he was found guilty

of "subverting state power"

by promoting dangerous ideas

in group messaging chats.

Ideas like like multi-party democracy.

His sentence has the bonus effect

of striking fear into the hearts of Chinese activists

and the people of Taiwan in general.

Instead of promoting multi-party democracy,

what Lee should have done,

is promote the system

they already have in mainland China,

which is...multi-party cooperation.

You see, while China has eight political parties

other than the Chinese Communist Party,

the CCP is "the sole party exercising political leadership

in this system of multi-party cooperation."

Cooperation means that all the parties are equal.

The CCP is just more equal than everyone else.

And besides, everyone knows that Chinese people

aren't ready for democracy!

Unless they live in Taiwan…

And apparently Chinese people aren't ready

for violent video games, either.

That's why hit South Korean multiplayer shooter

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, or PUBG,

is coming to China...

with Chinese characteristics.

Chinese tech giant Tencent has bought the rights

to bring PUBG to China.

And they've agreed to make some changes

to the original South Korean version.

Chinese censors had said the game was

"too violent and said it would likely be blocked

because it 'severely deviates from socialist core values.'"

But what could be more in line with socialist core values

than violence and senseless killing?

Maybe they can just slap some

Communist Party flags in the background,

and then it will be ok.

That's at least what another video game company in China did.

The blood just blends in.

And speaking of sticking to core values,

a Chinese scholar is criticizing India

for doing military drills in the Indian Ocean.

He says, "It should be stressed that

the Indian Ocean belongs to all mankind,

and India's actions are an attempt to

turn the ocean into India's territorial waters,

which is a violation of International Law."

All the world's oceans froze over in irony.

And the Trump Administration is making another move

against the Chinese regime for unfair trade practices.

The Commerce Department has officially launched

a probe into China's aluminum exports to the US.

If China is found to be dumping at prices

that are artificially low,

the US could impose tariffs.

And it's not just the US

that's having trade trouble with China.

A group of German businesses is warning

that some German companies may pull out of China.

Why?

Because of "a request from the ruling Communist Party

to set up cells in their companies."

Apparently, there are already more than 100,000

foreign-invested companies in China

that have a Party secretary embedded with their staff.

It's something the Communist Party requires.

But hey, who doesn't want a Party in their company?

Oh, wait.

The Germans don't.

That actually makes sense.

So what do you think of this week's news?

US holds first Vietnam War draft - 12/1/1969 - Duration: 1:19.

Today, Military History 1969,

a draft lottery was held to determine the order

of call to military service in the Vietnam War.

It was the first lottery used

to order men into military service since 1942.

It applied to registrants born between

January 1, 1944 and December 31st, 1950,

and the event was broadcast on radio, film, and television.

366 blue capsules containing birth dates were mixed in a

shoe box, then placed in a large glass container, and drawn

by hand to randomly assign order of call numbers to all men

born between the 18 to 26 age range specified by law.

New York Representative,

Alexander Pirnie drew the first capsule.

It contained the date September 14th.

So all men born on September 14th in any year

between 1944 and 1950 were assigned lottery number one.

The drawing continued for every day in the year.

The date of the last drawing

for the lottery was on March 12th, 1975.

In total 1,728,344 men were drafted during the Vietnam War

and 648,500 of them were sent to Vietnam.

They accounted for just over 30% of

combat deaths with 17,725 lives lost.

Today, the US Military is an all-volunteer force,

but registration for conscription

remains the law just as a contingency plan.

Earthquakes Probably Won't Destroy Us in 2018 - Duration: 6:04.

If you've been paying attention to the news, you may have seen some worrying headlines

pop up over the last week or so.

Things like "2018 is going to be the worst year on record for major earthquakes" or

"You better dig out an earthquake bunker because we're definitely all going to die."

I mean, that one might be an exaggeration... but you get the idea.

In a recent conference, scientists from the Universities of Montana and Colorado did present

groundbreaking work related to earthquake prediction.

But it might not be as dramatic as the headlines make it out to be.

The crust of the Earth is broken up into massive fragments called tectonic plates.

Where these plates meet, and within plates, there are cracks called faults.

Because the pieces of the Earth's crust are constantly moving in different directions,

when different sides of a fault get stuck on each other and then move suddenly, you

get a huge release of energy.

That's an earthquake.

And we all know how devastating earthquakes can be, causing damage to buildings and people

and all kinds of things.

So it's not surprising that we want a reliable way to predict when and where they're going

to happen—the more time we have to prepare, the better.

But it's really hard to do.

Which brings us to this research.

Two geologists, who published their study in August, noticed that there was a weird

pattern to big earthquakes — about 7.0 or bigger on the Richter scale, the richter scale

is the international numerical scale for how strong an earthquake is.

Basically, the higher the number, the more you feel it.

Since the year 1900, they found that big earthquakes seemed to happen more often worldwide every

30-ish years or so — like, about 25 times a year instead of 15 times a year.

And, weirdly, they found that these waves of big earthquakes may be correlated to patterns

in the Earth's rotation.

Now, the Earth's rotation isn't constant.

The moon and gravity and other factors can slow it down by tiny amounts.

And these researchers found that right after several periods when the Earth's rotation

got slower, intense earthquakes happened more often.

And they think it might be because the Earth's crust is sitting on top of molten lower layers,

so as the planet's rotation slows a bit, the insides slosh around.

Like, think about a cup of coffee in your car when you brake… it's a similar idea.

It takes about five years for everything to sort of even out, and during that time energy

might build up near faults.

And that might be bad for the stability of the crust, and mean more big earthquakes.

Or at least, that's a possible explanation these researchers proposed.

Seismology is a super tricky science and it's filled with uncertainty.

The scientists point out that there's still a lot of discussion within the community about

what might cause a correlation between the Earth's rotation and big earthquakes.

And even though the last slowing down of the Earth started in 2011, which was more than

5 years ago, they're also not predicting that 2018 will be apocalyptic.

Based on this data from the last 100 years, a bad year for earthquakes might be a little

more likely to happen, but that doesn't mean it's definitely going to.

… which should probably be seismology's motto.

Because even though statistics and computer models have helped researchers predict a lot

of things, earthquakes are ridiculously tricky.

We don't even entirely understand all the things that might cause faults to start building

up energy.

But this week, researchers published more data to suggest that we might be partly to

blame—at least for earthquakes in certain regions, like the Central United States.

Now, this isn't a new idea.

Scientists have been looking at this particular part of the US and its increase in earthquakes

since 2009.

Studies from 2012 showed that earthquake frequency could be linked with natural gas extraction

and wastewater injection — where unwanted, chemical-filled water from extraction processes

is put back into the ground.

The researchers suggested that these practices could change the pressure in naturally-occurring

pockets of gas between chunks of crust in the central US and make the ground shift to

compensate.

They came up with these ideas using statistical models.

Basically, plugging in where earthquakes and drilling were happening and boom: correlation.

I mean, it's a bit more complicated than that.

But the point is, no one had really looked at the rocks.

Until now.

The scientists who published the paper last week used what's known as Seismic reflection

data to map the Earth's crust in some of the known hot-spots in the central US.

Seismic reflection is a technique kind of like SONAR, where researchers use special

instruments to send vibrations through kilometers of rock below them.

Basically, these vibrations get reflected back towards receivers on the Earth's surface,

and give you information about what's down there.

It can be used to find things like natural gas and oil deposits, but seismologists and

geophysicists use it to get an idea of what sort of rock is below the surface, like how

old it is based on how deep it is, and how intact the layers are.

When the scientists used recorded data to take a closer look at some of the faults in

the central US, they found that some faults seem like they've been actively shifting

for millions of years.

While others weren't really… until—you guessed it—people started messing with the

crust.

Have we learned nothing from Sci-Fi disaster movies?

That just never ends well.Paul Giamatti is in a room somewhere, warning you

For these scientists, this is evidence that this correlation between human activity and

earthquakes is more likely.

Sometimes with statistical models, it's hard to be sure.

And now that someone's actually checked out the rocks, maybe we can start to do something

about this increase in tiny quakes.

ANNOUNCEMENT!

You may have heard about this already the Scishow team and I have decided to do a thing.

We often aren't sure what to do when people ask us what we want for Christmas, and we

say 'aw man I don't know know,' and they get annoyed with us.

look, what are things for anyway.

So I like to get certain things I buy things for myself, and if people get me things that

I really like.

I like it!

It's the Spirit of Christmas.

So I put together 6 things and we've got limited quantities of each of the things and

we put them on a new website called SciShow Finds

The idea is that you can send somebody there and they can buy you any of the things that

exist and they will all be cool sciency artifacts of this universe that will either let you

experiment on yourself or learn or sort of embody your love of the natural world.

We've sold out of like half of the things already so it's not all there anymore, but

some of it still is.

You can go to Scishowfinds.com and see all that stuff and if you send people there to

buy you stuff or if you buy stuff there just know that you are helping to support SciShow.

China's hypersonic ultimate DOOMSDAY weapon – and it could wipe out the US in ONE SHOT - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 3:30.

China's hypersonic 'ultimate DOOMSDAY weapon' – and it could wipe out the US in ONE SHOT

CHINA new hypersonic nuclear missile has been

branded the "ultimate doomsday weapon" amid warnings it could wipe out the US in

one shot.

Dongfeng-41 (DF-41) is the next generation of nuke being developed for the People's

Liberation Army – and it has been in development for 30 years.

Chinese scientists boast the weapon is capable of hypersonic speeds up to Mach 25.

And last week state media claimed China's new nuke can hit "anywhere" in the world.

Now experts have offered their chilling assessment of the 19,030mph weapon – branding it a

"doomsday" device.

DF-41 would give the Chinese military the power to destroy the US with just a single

missile, it has been warned.

Nuclear disarmament campaigner John Hallam described the missile as the "ultimate doomsday

weapon".

He called it a "whopper" that was comparable, if not bigger than, Russia's new nuke the

colossal nation-killer Satan 2.

China's military are alleged to have tested the nuclear weapon at least eight times since

2012.

The weapon is believed to carry 10 nuclear warheads – each of which can seek of targets

independently.

DF-41 is believed to be 33 tonnes and approximately 15 metres long – and can be mounted on a

truck, or launched from a silo.

"Just one of these missiles, with 10 warheads each of 100kt plus range, could essentially

destroy either the major cities or the significant military capacity of the US," Mr Hallam

told news.com.au.

He added: "It's a whopper, comparable to the biggest Russian missiles, which it

resembles, including the recently tested Sarmat (Satan 2)."

China's military is allegedly pushing to drop Beijing's longstanding "no fire use"

doctrine for nuclear weapons.

Propaganda produced by China claims the Dongfeng-41 will be one of the most powerful nuclear missiles

in the world.

And there are reports China may have tested the Dongfeng-41 just two days before US President

Donald Trump arrived for a one-on-one meeting with President Xi Jinping.

Xi has said he wants China to have the capacity to win any war as he pushes for further modernisation

of the People's Liberation Army.

Estimates place the Dongfeng-41's operational range between 7,500 and and 9,000 miles – putting

the US comfortably in range.

Relations have long been frosty between the US and China as the Communist giant continues

to expand its influence in Asia and the two clash over North Korea.

China unveiled new hypersonic warheads last month as the superpower showed off its new

state-of-the-art wind tunnel.

U.S. strategic assets arrive in S. Korea for first joint drill since N. Korea missile launch - Duration: 2:12.

South Korea and the United States will hold a joint Air Force drill next week involving

almost 230 aircraft.

The regular exercise is called Vigilant Ace, planned before North Korea's latest missile

launch.

But coming so soon after, it may involve a bigger show of force than ever before.

Our Oh Jung-hee has the details.

U.S. strategic assets are arriving in South Korea for an annual joint air force drill

called Vigilant Ace next week.

The airborne exercise is set to mobilize 12-thousand U.S. personnel and almost 230 aircraft.

Six F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets are to be deployed starting Saturday,... and all

six jets will fly over South Korea simultaneously for the first time in the history of the joint

drill.

F-22 jets are equipped with full stealth capabilities,... meaning that they can infiltrate North Korean

airspace undetected and destroy key nuclear and missile facilities.

Twelve F-35B jets will also be deployed.

The presence of the F-22 Raptor and the F-35B fighters is expected to put maximum pressure

on North Korea... as both aircraft can reach Pyongyang in only ten minutes if they depart

from Osan Air Base, located 64 km south of Seoul,... and in 20 minutes from Gunsan Air

Base in Jeollabuk-do Province.

In addition to these two, six F-35A stealth fighter jets also arrived in South Korea last

week... and B-1B bombers are expected to take part in the drill as well.

South Korea's defense ministry says... the joint exercise will focus on striking facilities

and moving targets in North Korea... as well as countering possible North Korean invasions

by sea and air.

This year's Vigilant Ace comes in less than a week after Pyongyang launched an ICBM,...

so it's expected to be carried out amid high tensions on the peninsula.

Seoul also plans to coordinate with Washington to have U.S. strategic assets deployed on

a rotational basis... until the end of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

N. Korea seeking U.S. recognition as nuclear weapons state: Russian officials - Duration: 0:39.

Our top story this afternoon...

North Korea is pushing the United States to recognize it as a nuclear weapons state.

Russian delegates who recently visited Pyongyang say North Korea is ready to hold direct talks

with Washington, but only on the condition that it recognize the regime as a nuclear

power.

The Russians said they were also told that the North successfully launched its new Hwasong-15

ICBM on Wednesday,... and that the country had already achieved its goal of becoming

a nuclear weapons state.

The bilateral meeting took place on Thursday,.. a day after the launch.
