A plane carrying 10 U.S. citizens and two local crewmembers crashed in a wooded area,

killing all aboard Sunday, Costa Rica's government said.

The Public Safety Ministry posted photographs and video of the crash site showing burning

wreckage of the plane in Guanacaste, northwest Costa Rica.

Authorities said that so far they had only a list of passengers provided by the airline

and were awaiting official confirmation of their identities.

At a news conference, Enio Cubillo, director of Costa Rica Civil Aviation, said the Nature

Air charter flight took off just after noon Sunday from Punta Islita and was headed for

the capital of San Jose when it crashed.

Cubillo said the cause was under investigation.

He identified the pilot as Juan Manuel Retana and described him as very experienced.

Former Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla said via Twitter that Retana was her cousin.

The same plane had arrived in Punta Islita on Sunday morning from San Jose and was delayed

in landing by strong winds, Cubillo said.

North Korea SHOCK warning: US military action only option to DESTROY Kim's nuclear arsenal

NORTH KOREA will not give up its nuclear arsenal unless the United States military intervenes

to "pre-emptively destroy" it, former US UN Ambassador John Bolton said.

North Korea has refused to heed calls to stop its nuclear development programme and continues

to fuel fears of World War 3 within the international community.

Mr Bolton warned that military action from the US would be the only possibility to ultimately

end Kim Jong-un's threat campaign.

He said: "I think we are going to come down to a binary choice.

That is the use of military force is one possibility to pre-emptively destroy North Korea's nuclear

and ballistic missile capabilities.

Or we allow North Korea to have nuclear weapons."

Mr Bolton warned Pyongyang would not give up its weapons as it nears full nuclear capability.

The former US ambassador told Fox News: "There's zero chance that after 25 years of pressure,

this close to the finish line, they are going to give it up.

"It's not going to happen."

North Korea was hit with a swathe of new sanctions after defying orders to terminate its nuclear

development programme and conducting several missile tests – threatening both Japan and

the US overseas territory of Guam.

According to senior US officials, "preliminary signs" of a missile test were shown by Kim

Jong-un, making the US believe that the rogue state could be preparing to launch a new missile

soon.

The US has conducted many military exercises with South Korea and Japan throughout 2017,

in an attempt to prepare against a military strike by the hands of North Korea.

Kim Jong-un's state media mouthpiece KCNA announced North Korea will continue to enhance

its nuclear capabilities next year in a report titled "No Force Can Prevail over Independence

and Justice".

The chilling report said: "The DPRK, an undeniable new strategic state and nuclear

power, declares: Do not expect any change in its policy.

"The DPRK, as a responsible nuclear weapons state, will lead the trend of history to the

only road of independence and justice, weathering all tempests on this planet."

SHOCK North Korea WARNING: US 'closer to nuclear war than ever before' with Kim Jong-un - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 3:53.

SHOCK North Korea WARNING: US 'closer to nuclear war than ever before' with Kim Jong-un

NORTH KOREA and the United States are "closer than ever" to a full-blown nuclear conflict

after the rogue state's despot leader Kim Jong-un issued a stark warning to Donald Trump

North Korea leader Kim Jong-un warned a "nuclear button is always on my desk" as he took

aim at the US during his New Year's address in Pyongyang.

The dictator already sparked fears of World War 3 after refusing to halt his intercontinental

ballistic missile programme despite widespread international condemnation.

Speaking from the North Korea capital, Kim Jong-un said: "The entire United States

is within range of our nuclear weapons, and a nuclear button is always on my desk.

This is reality, not a threat."

The dictator also declared that North Korea had reached full nuclear force in 2017 and

called for the mass-production of nukes and missiles in the year ahead as tensions continue

to rise with the US.

He said: "We achieved the goal of completing our state nuclear force in 2017.

"We need to mass-produce nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles and accelerate their

deployment."

Responding to the terrifying address, former joint chiefs chairman Mike Mullen said the

US is closer than ever to a nuclear war, with little opportunity to defuse the situation

diplomatically.

He told ABC: "The top of the list is North Korea.

"We're actually closer, in my view, to a nuclear war with North Korea, and in that

region, than we've ever been.

"I just don't see how…

I don't see the opportunities to solve this diplomatically at this particular point."

Last year, the rogue state conducted its sixth nuclear test, which sparked an earthquake

of 6.3 in magnitude.

North Korea also tested three intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), with Kim Jong-un

declaring the third rocket was capable of reaching "all the US mainland".

KCNA said: "The DPRK, an undeniable new strategic state and nuclear power, declares: Do not

expect any change in its policy.

"On February 12 the DPRK successfully test-fired the new type strategic weapon system Pukguksong-2,

ground-to-ground intermediate-range strategic ballistic rocket.

"On Nov. 29, the DPRK succeeded in the test-fire of new type ICBM Hwasong-15 reflecting its

tremendous might as a world-class military power.

"The US persistent moves against the DPRK in political, economic, military, diplomatic

and all other fields till the end of this year could not stop even a moment the advance

of the DPRK confident in the victory of its cause.

"The DPRK, as a responsible nuclear weapons state, will lead the trend of history to the

only road of independence and justice, weathering all tempests on this planet."

COOLEST THING OUR SIBLINGS DID FOR US | Dolan True Stories - Duration: 7:41.

• From a brother who fends off homophobes to a sister who hides things from overprotective

parents, the Planet Dolan crew re-enact some of the best true stories from our subreddit

about the coolest things our siblings did for us.

I'm Pringle and today I'll be your narrator.

Number 10 was submitted by JJCrystalT Ladybot Ladybot's older brother is the coolest sibling

ever.

One time he and his buddies joined Ladybot and her friend for lunch.

It was all going well until Ladybot gave her female friend a super close hug and shared

some food with her.

Her brother's friend was a bit homophobic, so he made some mean jokes about Ladybot's

sexuality.

Ladybot told him that she liked girls and the guy licked his lips and said he would

be happy to 'change her mind.'

Ladybot's brother immediately stepped in.

He told his friend to shut up and get the hell out.

And as his friend was walking away, Ladybot's brother shouted, "Not only can my sister

kick your ass, but she'll screw your woman too!"

Number 9 was submitted by my_fav_slav SweetCommando When SweetCommando was a teenager he went

to his first party and got really drunk.

At the end of the night, his friends abandoned him and SweetCommando had no way to get home.

He couldn't call his super strict parents so he was forced to call his sister, who was

usually mean and selfish.

SweetCommando's sister had to drive hours to get to the party.

SweetCommando thought she would be super pissed.

But instead of judging him, she just gave him some water, collected his things, and

put him in the car.

She drove him all the way home, stopping every five minutes so SweetCommando could puke,

and even bought him a pack of cigarettes!

That was the first time SweetCommando and his sister bonded as adults.

He'll never forget it.

Number 8 was submitted by CooperGal24 Andiemations A few years ago, Andiemation's dad was getting

married to his new partner.

Andie's future step-mom had three daughters to her previous marriage, and Andie was worried

she wouldn't be accepted by her new family.

Andie also didn't have a proper dress to wear to the wedding.

She thought she would look like a total loser on the day, but to her surprise her future

stepsisters offered to take her out dress shopping.

When Andie found something they insisted on paying for it, and even bought her an entirely

new outfit as a 'welcome to the family' gift!

Andie was so happy that her new stepsisters had welcomed and accepted her into their family.

She was secretly prepared to hate them…

Number 7 was submitted by Fazbearfan12 Pandora In high school Pandora was a total loner who

got bullied for being different.

Her twin sister, on the other hand, was the total opposite!

She was really popular and no one dared to mess with her.

One day Pandora's twin overheard a boy named Anthony plotting a mean prank he was going

to pull on Pandora.

Instead of confronting him, Pandora's twin decided to come in the next day pretending

to be Pandora.

Anthony mistook her for Pandora and assumed she wouldn't stand up for herself.

Right as he was about to pull his pull prank, Pandora's twin punched him in the nose!

Anthony was so shocked he started crying.

From that day no one ever messed with Pandora again!

Number 6 was submitted by mintslice337 Doopie Doopie's parents are extremely overprotective.

They don't let Doopie date and want her to wait until marriage before having sex.

Doopie hates their rules and lies about where she is when she goes out.

One day Doopie was about to drive somewhere in her car when her dad and brother came over.

While they were talking Doopie's glove compartment opened and a box of condoms dropped onto the

floor.

Doopie was sure she was gonna be grounded for eternity or shipped off to live her aunt.

But to her surprise her quick-thinking brother dropped his hat over the box and covered it

up.

Doopie's brother was usually a total pain in the ass, but the gesture showed Doopie

that he really did care about her deep down.

Number 5 was submitted by Kingslayer1217 Nixxiom When Nixxiom was ten he was really into classical

music and dreamed of being a musician someday.

His two brothers would tease him about this every day so Nixxiom grew up thinking no one

in his family supported his dream.

When Nixxiom's eleventh birthday came around he wasn't expecting much.

But amazingly one of his gifts turned out to be an expensive new violin.

Apparently Nixxiom's two brothers had saved their pocket money up all year to get it.

He still has his first violin today.

Number 4 was submitted by CryingRhino Hellbent One night Hellbent went to a concert in the

next town over.

It didn't finish until two o'clock in the morning.

By then Hellbent was starving, so he decided to give his little brother a brotherly two

A.M. wakeup call.

He asked his brother to get out of bed, heat up the oven and put some potatoes in for him.

Hellbent didn't really think he would do it, but when he got home after his long drive

he had golden-brown potatoes waiting for him.

It was the coolest thing his brother ever did for him.

Number 3 was submitted by pizzatycoon Grgak When Grgak was four he got dragged to a hardware

store with his dad and twelve-year-old brother.

Grgak was bored out of his mind, so his brother lifted him up onto his shoulders, raised his

hands and told Grgak to grab onto his thumbs.

For the next hour and a half Grgak pretended his brother was a huge badass robot and he

was the pilot.

Together they stomped around the store blowing up other customers with their missiles.

One man even played along and started shooting back!

They had a huge imaginary firefight and destroyed the aisle with their imaginary explosions!

Grgak will always remember how his brother turned a boring trip to the hardware store

into one of his most treasured memories.

Number 2 was submitted by funnywalk89 JamesShark JamesShark has a brother who was addicted

to heroin.

For years, his brother's addiction caused him to lie, cheat and steal from the rest

of his family.

By far the coolest thing he ever did for JamesShark was to get himself sober.

He put in a lot of effort to repair their relationship, and wrote an eight-page letter

apologizing for all the things he'd done on drugs.

It took two years of sobriety for JamesShark to let him back into his life and trust him.

They have a great relationship now and JamesShark is just really glad to have his brother back.

Happy NUKE Year! North Korea and United States doomed for NUCLEAR showdown in 2018 - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 4:33.

Happy NUKE Year! North Korea and US doomed for NUCLEAR showdown in 2018

NORTH Korea and the US are heading for a nuclear showdown in 2018 as the two sides sit on the

brink of "hot conflict", it has been warned.

Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un are on a path of "spiralling escalation" after a year

of intense rhetoric and military muscle flexing.

North Korea has tested dozens of a missiles and their most powerful nuclear bomb ever,

while the US held unprecedented war games flexing its military muscles.

And both sides have threatened to annihilate the other, with the US President warning of

"fire and fury" and promising to "totally destroy" the rogue state at the UN.

Nuclear expert Dr Bruce Blair warned this descent towards war is only going to continue

in 2018.

He told Daily Star Online: "I think we are on a trajectory of spiraling escalation that

is going to lead to a showdown."

Dr Blair, a former nuclear launch officer, added the "odds are increasing we will come

to blows" as he gave a grim evaluation of the New Year.

Co-founder of nuclear disarmament group Global Zero, he said: "The two sides will be brought

closer to the brink of conflict in 2018.

"There are a number of paths to the outbreak of hot conflict, both through intentional

and inadvertent escalation."

North Korea has fired 23 missiles in 2017 as Kim works to perfect his missile technology

to get the US in range.

The rogue state believes nuclear will protect the regime from any attempt by the West to

depose Kim.

Pyongyang's ruling elite fears a situation such as those involving Iraqi dictator Saddam

Hussein or Libyan warlord Muammar Gaddafi where the US spearheaded efforts to remove

them.

Kim's last missile test on November 28 was his most advanced nuclear missile yet, but

questions still remain over the technology's viability for nuclear war.

However, Dr Blair says any conflict between the US and North Korea would inevitably lead

to the use of nukes.

The expert said: "Little outbreaks of hostilities have been escalating and I think they could

escalate much faster than people realise.

"It could lead very quickly to in a large scale nuclear conflict.

"In a conventional conflict, the North Koreans would lose, and they would be put into a position

with having to resort of nuclear weapons.

"That could be the last straw that causes Trump to escalate to the use of nuclear weapons."

Nuclear war could even be triggered by a particularly provocative missile test if the US decide

to intervene, Dr Blair added.

He explained a scenario where the US detects North Korea to be loading a nuclear warhead

into a missile for a live test.

The US President would be briefed, and Trump would be given options to act.

Dr Blair said: "Maybe Trump rides out a missile launch, or maybe he doesn't – and

then we go into emergency consultation and he opts to retaliate."

Despite the course for war being clear, the expert warned "I don't think we have any

answers" – saying "deterrence is all we have", but adding he had "little faith

in it".

He urged the US to try and get North Korea back to the negotiating table, predicting

we would see the rogue state "isolated to the maximum extent possible".

The next phase of North Korea's missile test is believed to be a live nuclear weapon

launched in the Pacific – known as the Juche Bird test.

This would be the ultimate provocation and test of the US's military patience with

Kim.

Dr Blair previously described this test as Trump's "red line" on North Korea when

speaking to Daily Star Online.

Theresa May's name 'noted' by the US as UK votes against Trump's Jerusalem decision - Duration: 3:01.

Theresa Mays name 'noted' by the US as UK votes against Trumps Jerusalem decision.

Prior to the vote that saw 128 countries, including Britain, oppose the Republican firebrand,

Nikki Haley warned nations that the US would be taking names of those who stood in

its way.

She tweeted: At the UN we're always asked to do more and give more.

So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American people, about where to locate

OUR embassy, we don't expect those we've helped to target us.

On Thursday there'll be a vote criticising our choice.

The US will be taking names.

After 35 countries abstained from the vote, nine voting against and 21 failing to turn

up, Ms Haley send out a message of appreciation to the nations that refused to condemn

the United States.

She tweeted: The vote is in 65 countries refused to condemn the United States and 128

voted against us.

A follow-up post featured an image with all 65 nations written down that included major

US recipients such as Uganda, Honduras and South Sudan.

But the UK was notably absent from the list following Theresa Mays decision to vote

against the Trump administration.

Prior to the vote the US had been vocal about pulling funding from the UN if its recent

decision in the Middle East was not supported.

Ms Haley declared: "The United States will remember this day in which it was singled

out for attack in this assembly.

"We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world's largest contribution"

to the UN and when other member nations ask Washington "to pay even more and to use our

influence for their benefit."

Canada, Mexico and Australia were among the nations who refused to condemn Donald Trump

as they abstained from voting.

Ms Haley reiterated that the US would move its embassy to Jerusalem even there was opposition

to it.

The Republican firebrand had also been vocal prior to the vote, stating Were watching

those votes.

He went on: "Let them vote against us, we'll save a lot.

We don't care."

Theresa Mays defiance of the US President meant she was not a recipient of an invite

to join Ms Haley at a reception in January.

The invitation stated the event was meant to thank countries for their friendship

to the United States.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu heaped praise on Donald Trump and all those

that bowed to the US demands following the result yesterday.

He stated: "Israel rejects the decision of the United Nations and, at the same time,

we show gratitude to the high number of countries that abstained from this resolution.

"Israel thanks President Trump on his unequivocal position in favour of Jerusalem and thanks

other countries that voted together with Israel, together with the truth."A spokesman for the

US mission described the move by Theresa May and others that voted against its decision

as conducting an unproductive attempt to isolate us.

They claimed: "While the resolution passed, the vote breakdown tells a different story.

"It's clear that many countries prioritised their relationship with the United States

over an unproductive attempt to isolate us for a decision that was our sovereign right

to make."

"It's clear that many countries prioritised their relationship with the United States

over an unproductive attempt to isolate us for a decision that was our sovereign right

to make."
