Adpocalypse 2018 | Why Can't YouTube Fix It? - Duration: 7:55.

I posted an article on my tumblr last week from CNN Tech about how YouTube may

be facing the adpocalypse part 2? 3? Eleventy? because it's still running ads against

extremist videos "ads from over 300 companies and organizations including

tech giants major retailers newspapers and government agencies ran on YouTube

channels promoting white nationalists Nazis pedophilia conspiracy theories and

North Korean propaganda" so how did this happen? again? and why can't youtube stop

it? well let's look at some of the things they've done since last time one of

YouTube's previous responses through the whole adpocalypse mess was to restrict

channels with fewer than 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch

time from being able to monetize and also requiring that you keep your watch

time above a certain level to stay monetized to say that this was not a

popular move among small creators would be something of an understatement

but it does at least partially solve the problem of people starting up YouTube

channels immediately monetizing them and then proceeding to post videos about how Hitler

is a really nice person who likes dogs or how Daesh is awesome. one of the

other methods that YouTube has brought in to make sure that all of the videos

it runs ads against are brand safe is its Demonetization algorithm the

algorithm scans videos as they're uploaded to the site for potentially

inappropriate content and may demonetize them on that basis. and YouTube brought

this feature in without really announcing or explaining it but

YouTube's failures of communication are not the topic of this video. Now it's

true that if your video is Demonetized by this algorithm you can appeal it but

it may or may not work the odds that you'll actually get your video seen by a

human are relatively low unless you're already a large channel and if your

video is demonetized it's almost certainly going to be during your first

day or two which is when you'd expect the highest number of views and thus the

highest ad revenue because all of your subscribers are coming to check it out

so for creators not helpful however the advantage of the algorithm is that it

learns so the more we submit appeals the more it can learn whether or not that's

actually unsafe content or inappropriate content or whether it's actually okay

and hopefully that means there will be fewer false positives in future which

may not be good news for you of everything you do is deemed brand

unsafe by YouTube but does at least that the more obvious bad actors are

probably going to get caught. so there is some utility to it but why do you need

an algorithm at all is it just that youtube are unwilling to put in the money

to hand check every dodgy video well I don't know if they're unwilling to spend

money but given the demands of the platform they would be physically unable

to keep up with all of the videos on here because so much content is uploaded

to YouTube every day I looked up some estimates which run from 300 to 500

hours of content being uploaded to YouTube every minute even if only a

fraction of a fraction of those videos were going to cause problems that is a

higher workload than any human moderation team can handle so you need

the algorithm but by the same token you can't rely solely on the algorithm

humanity is a creative species if we perceive an obstacle we are ingenious at

figuring out ways around it and people are willing to put in a whole lot of

work to do so I mean those Nigerian prince scams don't write themselves now

do they? so say you want to start a channel which you know that YouTube

would immediately want to crack down on you know neo-nazis

pedophilia North Korean propaganda I mean you could just put up your videos

which are obviously about neo-nazis or Daesh or whatever and you could tag them

with neo-nazi or Daesh or whatever but YouTube reads your title and your

description and your tags it looks at your thumbnail for inappropriate content

like gore or weapons and it listens to your audio so it can generate automatic

captions what I'm saying is if your video is obviously about a topic that

YouTube has deemed unsafe or inappropriate it's not gonna happen

they might not ban you and delete your account but they won't monetize you but

if you had time and you were willing to play the long game and as we have seen

from the Russian tumblr bots thing governments are, then you can make a lot

of videos most of which are fairly innocuous and then when you want to

sneak your not so innocuous videos past YouTube you have this whole backlog

of appropriate content plus you can scrupulously avoid using any of the

words which might ping the algorithm in the video itself. There was a good

example of this from Facebook actually. there was a group on Facebook called

Britain first which got banned after coming to global attention having been

shared by Donald Trump the reason that Facebook ban

is for inciting hatred by posting videos like "Muslim migrant (who wasn't actually

a Muslim migrant at all) beats up Dutch boy on crutches!" at the time that they

were banned though Britain first had more than 2 million likes on Facebook

how does a page which posts videos comparing Muslims to animals get more

than 2 million likes well because Facebook doesn't show you

everything a page does right and while Britain first posted the occasional

video which should have gotten them an insta ban mostly they posted really

innocuous stuff we love this british sports star like if you do too! share if

you love your military family! give this post a thumbs up if you're proud of our

veterans! look at this cute picture of a dog! okay I'm not sure about that last

one but and then every so often they'd put up something like Muslim migrant who

isn't actually a Muslim migrant beats up Dutch boy on crutches but Facebook being

Facebook only shows a fraction of the people who follow a page each post that

the page puts up it would be entirely possible to be a follower of Britain

first for years particularly if you don't use Facebook all that often and to

have seen nothing from them but cute pictures of dogs and poppy wreaths

Facebook knows what you like remember

so to bring this back to youtube they can crack down but it's really hard. when

something comes to mass media attention obviously they'll remove it but there

are thousands and thousands of channels which are basically akin to the Britain

first Facebook page and they're not being taken down because they're just not

getting flagged that often keeping bad actors off your platform when you're the

size of YouTube is not hard it's pretty much impossible but you can cut down on

the numbers of bad actors. and so you have the algorithms because you can't

possibly manage the quantity of content on YouTube without them and on top of

that you have your moderation team because people are smart and will figure

out ways around your algorithm.s but the moderation team needs someone to tell

them about the bad actors they need people to report the animal abuse and

the pornography and the beheadings unfortunately that's a difficult thing

to incentivize well because what you actually want is for good people with

good intentions to flag videos which are actually inappropriate while

discouraging bad people with bad intentions from flagging things because

they don't like it YouTube Heroes which you might remember as one of YouTube's

2016 controversies was supposed to be YouTube's way of getting the people who

use the site to provide them with free labor ie we will gamify the system by

giving you points for doing this grunt work and as you get higher up the ranks

we will give you things like a small amount of power over others mwahaha

which was possibly not the best idea in the world given that it actively

incentivized flagging videos I mean if YouTube agrees with your flag and takes

a video down you get a point but if YouTube disagrees then nothing happens

so why not try it? so this is the problem why can't youtube just find all of the

bad actor channels and delete them? because people are smart even bad people

and so it's basically an arms race. but what do you think? how do you reckon that

YouTube should solve its problems? the ad problem or the terrorist content problem

or any of its many other problems leave a comment let me know and I'll see you

next time!

How Can A "Closet Apologist" Bolster Their Courage? - Duration: 4:21.

I've actually been asked by people who would call themselves "closet apologists"

how they can build their courage to engage people on issues that really

matter. And my first thought is there is no such thing as a "closet

apologist" because apologist is someone who defends,

and you've got to kind of get out of the closet to defend, but I get their meaning.

They want to defend their own convictions. They may have done some

study, and they know a few things, but they're just a little bit nervous, and I

understand that, okay, so I'm sympathetic, no problem. But what I suggest is that

the tactical game plan that I talk about in the book, Tactics, is really

perfect for this kind of thing, especially the first two steps of the

game plan. You're using questions to gather information, and you're using

questions to reverse the burden of proof. So we would use questions like, "What do

you mean by that?" to gather information and get clear on what their view happens

to be, and we will ask a question like, "How did you come to that conclusion?" or

"What are your reasons for that?" etc. to get their reasons for their point of

view. Now, I want you to think about those two questions.

Neither question puts you as a believer, as an ambassador for Christ, in any

risk at all. You're being a student, essentially, trying to discover what

other people believe. You are not in a situation where you're putting your view

forward where it could be attacked. Instead, you're inviting other people to

put their view forward. Now, you might be thinking, "Well that doesn't get me

very far," and my response is, you'll be surprised how much progress you can make

by you asking them questions about their own view. But the point here is, how do

you get a closet apologist out of the closet and into play in a way that

builds their courage? And this is the way to do it. You use one of those two

questions, and usually there's a sequence. First, you get their ideas. Then, you get

the reasons for their ideas, and you don't have to go

any further. You're just taking a small step of courage to step out and ask that

first question. Be a student. If you ask the second question, then you're gonna

get an education on how they actually think. Okay? Now I tell people, just go out

and practice the first question, but I suspect if you ask people what they

believe, sometimes you're going to have a hard time not asking the second question,

which would be kind of, "Why would you believe that?" because what people believe

sometimes a little bit odd. Now, you want to be careful that you don't sound

condescending when you ask the second question, but these two questions are a

great one-two punch that allows you to get involved in conversation with people

in a relational way in which they do most of the talking, but you are

gathering valuable information. And so it takes a small amount of courage to get

out of your closet and start engaging other people, and here's what you're

gonna find: You're gonna find it's not that hard. People aren't as scary and

also, people are not as smart as you thought they were. And I'm not saying

people are dumb, I'm just saying a lot of the objections that people raise against

Christianity, even by smart people, educated people, PhDs, professors, lawyers,

professional types of all kinds, turn out to be kind of foolish objections when it

deals with spiritual things. And you don't have to put them down or roll your

eyes or anything like that, but I think you're gonna find if you just step out

of that closet, a small step of courage, you begin to ask people what they

believe and why they believe it, and don't take it any further,

that that will really get you rolling as a defender of the faith.

[ENG] 그래도 성공할 수 있더라고 /방탄소년단 제이홉 (BTS j-hope) 'Airplane' / But still we can achieve our dreams - Duration: 4:47.

There is a saying 'When you follow your dream, money follows you.'

But even after you have achieved the dream, got wealth and fame, wouldn't you want more?

Today, I want to introduce an artist's mixtape which took 2 years to produce, but released for free.

Say hello to my hope world, it's J-hope's 'Airplane'.

'Remember myself from those days again, when the barren land set me on fire.'

'I looked at that blue sky and ran. I wanted to fly on that airplane.'

Whatever we try, the first time is the hardest. It feels like what I am doing isn't right.

It even feels like everything is completely wrong.

Even when I try my best, it's like everything is in vain.

When I felt this way, this song 'Airplane' encouraged me.

I am majoring in literature, but now I am writing a book.

So whenever I face some difficulty, I compare myself to those who have majored in writing, and think I am not talented at all.

I first heard 'Airplane' in this situation.

The reason why it was so encouraging for me is not only because its quality was amazing,

but also because I knew that J-hope didn't started as a rapper. He was a dancer at the beginning.

He, a dancer, must have tried very hard to succeed as a rapper.

So he studied music diligently and these efforts became his talent which proved his musical ability through the mixtape and BTS' album.

He made everything possible through his amazing effort.

Now it seems as if he, and his song 'airplane' is talking to us.

When nothing is working out and you face the 'barren land', still, look at 'that blue sky' and continue running.

When you have achieved your dream in the future, then, 'Remember myself from those days again'

Then, when we have achieved the dream, would everyone recognize my effort and be my friend?

'Somebody still curses me'

'Their jealousy makes them lonely.'

'I don't care, they just make me laugh.'

'Drink Champagne in my airplane.'

There are still hundreds of people telling worthless criticism.

It might be very similar to what we have gone through.

However, now I have changed.

Those criticisms cannot hurt me anymore, and I have experienced the beauty of success, so I worried about how other's think of me anymore.

Now we can say,

I will 'enjoy my first class in the plane and look out the window, keep myself at the first class.'

I first mentioned 'dream' and 'money' because the one that disturb may be some things like money instead of human.

After the mixtape was released, J-Hope said at an interview the reason he released his songs for free is that he valued music more than money.

After seeing the interview,

I realized that if you have set a firm aim and continue on, little obstacles cannot interrupt me.

Then I can try harder with confidence.

Therefore, 'Airplane' feels like J-hope's biography, who have faced lots of difficulties being BTS,

but never gave up, and now they became a record breaker who are writing a new history in k-pop.

'When I was young, my dream was to board a plane.

I wanted to be there and fly in the sky.

It's hard to believe what is happening to me.'

Now we have experienced how success feels like,

and still clearly remember how it was like in the past.

This is why we feel more thankful for my circumstances.

Dear listener, I have no idea if you are walking on the barren land or flying in the blue sky.

However, I do believe wherever you are, whatever you're doing will lead you to your dream at the end.

Even when somebody criticizes or lets you down,

I hope these won't stop you from achieving your dream, but be the last one to smile at the end.

This is Damojo Fm Thank you for being with us today.

Ilja Grzeskowitz - How Can Passion Help You Deal With Change? - Passion Sundays - Duration: 6:52.

hello everyone and welcome back to passion Sunday's the best way to end the

week and start another our guest today is a best-selling author speaker and

coach who helps you dream big act bold and get the results that you want

Ilja thank you very much for being with us today hi Mustapha thank you for

having me on your show I'm really excited about all these things that

you're promising so first tell me what does passion mean to you passion is the

inner drive that lets you do the things you do my topic is changed this is what

I do every single day and I'm not so much interested in what people are doing

or how they're doing it it's it's why they're doing it because that WHY is so

important and maybe that WHY could be transferred to to passion as well

because that WHY that passion is so important when when things get tough

when things get tough and when you're facing resistance when you're making

mistakes then that passion helps you to move forward and to improve yourself

amazing yeah so tell me more about your book and what you're promising people

I help people to use the power of change to use their their attitude to get

better results in life to live their dreams and of course I work a lot of

with organizations and I have organizations to to adapt to the

changing what around us because change has become a permanent condition that

has no longer beginning and an end but changes everywhere and it's getting more

intense it's getting faster and so many people struggle with it because they

don't know what should I do how can I deal with it and there's so

much uncertainty and I have people to to get them the tools they need to adjust

their mindset to be proactive about it it's beautiful so how would somebody be

able to adjust their mindset it's easier said than done you know you tell

somebody you got to change your mindset or change your behavior yeah of course

of course it's it's a long process first it's important to have that passion to

know why you want to change change is not something you do for changes sake

because change always needs to have a purpose you need to know why do I want

change and mostly it's because you have some kind of a goal you want to solve a

problem or you have that big dream of vision in your life and then in a

condensed version my approach unchanged is you have to start with a decision you

have to make the decision I'm going to make a change which implies that

commitment the second one is you have to have something like a goal you need to

know where you want to go and the third one is you have to build habits strong

habits which means better change small but on a consistent daily basis then to

do one big and one time change and then forget about it

so decision goal habit that's my basic approach to change I like that decision

goal habits yeah now decision is great we say that okay set the target which is

the goal that's beautiful habits oh my god yeah if there's something hard in

life to break is have it developing new habits yeah how do you deal with

with developing new habits and getting rid of old bad habits actually the

passion helps because building up habits is easy when you start up let's say

someone wants to lose weight or like I'm going to jog every morning from now on

and the first few days it is easy you're motivated and then you put on your

running shoes and you go out and everything do you really pumped up but

then a week goes by two weeks go by and then Thursday morning it rains outside

it's cold and you're lying in your bed is it come on let's make an exception

and you make the first exception actually you make the second exception

and and before you know it you've been trapped and you don't do your new

behavior but you could back in your old behavior and to prevent that from

happening that passion is so important because when you're lying in that bed

that morning and just you look outside and say should I really go outside and

four-run and then the passion kicks in you know I know for what I'm doing you

know why I'm doing it and you're doing it anyway and so you overcome these

resistances and you you do it anyway this is how I try to help people to

build these these habits to to always know why you're doing it to let your

passion help you with that and this is so so powerful and science says it takes

about 66 days to build a new habit and sometimes it's less and sometimes it's

more but you have to overcome these initial barriers and this is where your

passion kicks in beautiful and how do you handle the doubt when it kicks in

because in the journey of building habits and there there are points when

you reach a plateau and then you suddenly are trying hard you're doing

but you're not getting results and results is one of the biggest motivators

because you know the habit kicks in when you see the passion but then there's a

while when you're nothing is happening you're still pounding at it you're still

doing it but it's not happening and doubt starts kicking and you're like oh

this is never gonna work out am i doing and you spiral down and out how do you

handle that this is exactly in my opinion in my experience the biggest

factor why change so often fails because it's about doubts

it's about uncertainty and it's about fear the fear of not moving forward the

fear of failure and the first thing is to realize that it's completely normal

to have doubts to be uncertain to feel everyone has these feelings everyone has

it but one of my favorites approaches is fear or doubt or uncertainty can can

either be your biggest enemy or it can be your best friend because when you

acknowledge that this feeling is there and you use it to become productive to

generate innovative ideas and to get into action then that fear can make you

productive and help you to move forward instead of just doing nothing beautiful

Ilja thank you very much that has been a very

awesome way of turning around what's not working into something to work for your

benefit thank you very much thank you so much for having amazing yeah thank you

passion what do you think I really hope you found this episode as useful and as

exciting as I did if so please leave your comments on the blog

below and share it with your friends and those who might benefit from it and if

you'd like more tools tips techniques and exclusive interviews that I only

share on my website go to Mustafa.com and until next episode live passionately

heaven's door can take over the world - Duration: 6:22.

I can try to beat around the bush for the intro, but I want to get into his as fast

as possible.

Heaven's Door is such a good stand, and it being in the hands of Rohan Kishibe is

great for JoJo.

I can't picture someone that's evil having the access of Heaven's Door just off how

ridiculous the stand can be.

I wouldn't even trust this stand in the hands of anyone on this earth, not even me.

Which is exactly why I'll be telling you all the possible things you can do with the

stand because sometimes I would really love it.

So, Rohan is a mangaka right?

The ability to draw, the money to purchase any tools necessary or money to live, publishers

approving your work or giving criticism whether or not you want it, translating your manga

so it can be sold in different countries, all of those things mentioned are easily possible

with Heaven's Door.

You can write exactly what level you want to be at in terms of your work, you can consistently

mess with people for money to the point of where you're untouchable, you can control

the publishers to auto approve or give their honest opinion if they don't want to acknowledge

you, and you can translate your manga yourself because you can write in what languages you

know.

Now you may be asking what I meant on the whole money thing, to show exactly where I'm

thinking, let's think about Rohan in the Cheap Trick arc.

Now ignoring Cheap Trick and focusing on Masazo Kinoto.

If Rohan had wanted to avoid paying, he could've wrote into him and make it that Masazo believes

Rohan had already paid or set up a payment plan to where people would have to come to

him to receive the money upfront.

I'm sure you understand where this is going.

I believe that Rohan can continuously play every person that comes for him that's not

a stand user.

With Heaven's Door, you can have everything that you would want in terms of materialistic

things.

Say that I wanted food.

I go to a restaurant, Heaven's Door my way to a seat, Heaven's door my way to getting

to speak with the owner, and in the span of around say 20 to 30 minutes, I'd be eating

the most expensive dish they could serve there with ownership of the restaurant.

Now, obviously paperwork would have to come in order, but I'd still have the power to

do it, or I could've had that prepared from the get-go.

This would all be done with ease.

If done correctly, Heaven's Door can get you more than just a small business or two,

it all depends on the execution and where you start.

Where would you want to start off, where would you want to first begin your first long line

of control.

Honestly, with the power to continuously take over both the mind and body where does it

all begin.

Well, personally I would just write into myself a lot since I'm more of a do it your own

type of person, but I'm sure that many are thinking about what they could be capable

of in terms of power.

You can be tedious and possible gain control of the country, but I'm sure that would

take around a month or so.

Even with saying that, that's a short amount of time.

Especially with it being set up in a way for you to have no downfall possible by those

you've used Heaven's Door on.

Though that's all with planning starting from the bottom of it all.

I think that it would be better to try to go after larger things than, because if you

were to go after companies with world-wide reach, you would be way more efficient.

Though it won't be the type of control you would want, it's something.

With ownership of extremely large companies, you have too much money for one person, and

at that point, with that money you wouldn't have to use Heaven's Door as much anymore,

because you know, you'd just be rich at that point.

There's multiple ways for you to get things like that, but I think now some people will

think of Rohan now and be confused on why he doesn't do any of this.

While some might not notice this, Rohan is an extremely respectful character, as in a

character to be respected since my wording is odd.

I think the reason why Rohan is a character you can trust with Heaven's Door isn't

because he's a good person, but more on that what he wants isn't going to cost others

too much.

Or well, that was until after Josuke put the smackdown on him, but you get the point.

Rohan Kishibe is a person where what he wants isn't something that Heaven's Door can

get him.

You can understand what he wants and where he stands with what he said to Koichi and

Hazmada, but I'll reiterate it.

He doesn't draw for money, he draws to be read.

There's the feeling of finishing a manuscript where he feels great, but that only lasts

for such a short time.

He wants to keep that feeling as much as possible, so he just keeps on writing, finding inspiration

and applying it into his work.

Material things don't really interest Rohan, and having a person like that owning Heaven's

Door, it keeps the rest of the world away from harm.

Which means, we should be getting more Rohan OVA's and you can't stop me from wanting

them.

They can take their time with Vento Aureo, that's fine.

They're giving us enough time for people

to catch up.

*Evil laugh.*

How Mountain Biking Can Help Your Cycling | Improve Your Triathlon Skills - Duration: 4:10.

- Yes, we are triathletes,

and yes, we are on mountain bikes.

But why?

Well actually there's a lot that can be gained

by going out of our comfort zone,

onto mountain bikes, and getting a bit dirty.

- Well it can be a little bit daunting

to leave that smooth asphalt,

and your finely tuned triathlon bike.

But it's something that a lot of athletes

do every year when they compete in XTERRA,

and cross-triathlons, but aside from those races

there's still so much you can gain

from riding a mountain bike.

(dramatic music)

(heavy beat music)

- To start with if you live in a country

that has harsh winters, unlike this place right now.

Then mountain biking can be a great way

of mixing your training up.

And preventing you from spending every

ride indoors on the turbo trainer.

And something feels a little bit better

about getting a mountain bike dirty,

and muddy compared to your road bike.

Perhaps it's just because we're

a little less precious about our mountain bikes.

And they are designed for that after all.

And by venturing out onto the trails

you're also honing your bike skills

ready for when the weather improves,

and you can head out on your road bike.

- Whilst road cycling and mountain biking

may seem like very different sports

there's actually a lot of similar skills

that transfer from one to the other.

In fact, mountain biking is a great way

to practise your all round skills

without the fear of falling off on the road.

And you don't have to worry about traffic.

- Another really beneficial aspect of mountain biking

is the training effect, due to the terrain,

and the effort required to get over, or around obstacles.

It sort of creates it's own natural fartlek.

Even just a short ride can be quite punchy,

and have a huge training benefit.

Which can be really useful if you are lacking motivation

to do a session on the bike, indoors, or out on the road.

- In a similar way the terrain, obstacles,

and various surfaces will cause you

to constantly change your cadence

when you're out on a mountain bike ride.

But if you're a road cyclist you might have

got into a bit of a rut of sticking

within a small cadence range.

And that makes it really difficult

to change when you need to.

With mountain biking it does go

from one extreme to the other.

So, for example, if you're stuck into a habit

of an over-gearer this will really help you

solve that problem.

- The need to move your body weight around

in the saddle, and on the bike is actually far

more important than many of us realise,

particularly when we're descending, or cornering.

But again, we can be quite lazy

with this when we're solely riding on the road.

We plant ourselves in the saddle, and we stay put.

But in mountain biking you have to,

if you want to stay rubber side down.

It helps to build your confidence with shifting

your body weight around throughout the whole bike.

And in some cases, you'll even have

to shift your whole body weight back off the saddle.

- If you have more confidence in your braking ability

then you can dramatically become a better cyclist.

And what better way to do that than mountain biking.

Unlike with road cycling, you're gonna be

constantly using your brakes,

or lightly feathering them when you're riding off-road.

And being able to control that braking power

will help massively with your descents,

and cornering, and it might even your improve your speed.

- With all this comes increased confidence,

and handling for cornering.

Now whilst the surface and tyres may be different,

it still allows you to find the limits of cornering,

how much grip you have, and even

how much you can bank the bike over.

And again, mountain biking offers

plenty of opportunities to practise this,

along with shifting your body weight around to help this.

- With more mountain biking experience

you'll soon learn that you need to look ahead

of where you're going, and look for the exit of the corners.

It is tempting to look at the obstacles

just in front of you,

but you'll soon learn not to do that.

And this skill actually transfers really nicely

across to the road as well,

especially if you're riding in groups.

And you're looking ahead for corners.

- There really are loads of cross-overs,

and skills that mountain biking can add to our road riding.

Personally, I just like the change,

and variety from the norm.

- Well you might be worried about the risk involved

with mountain biking, but you don't have

to tear it down all the trails,

you can just stay within your comfort zone.
