Why is Pork Belly BBQ So Popular in South Korea? - Duration: 3:20.

Welcome to South Korea, where you DIY your barbecue

Wrap a slice of lettuce with a pork belly morsel dipped in condiments

As delicious as this looks, barbecuing wasn't always so popular in South Korea

Meat consumption in South Korea grew in tandem with economic growth

From 1970 to 2015, South Korea's GDP per capita grew almost 100 times

During the same period, meat consumption also increased almost 10 times

With recent experiences of poverty and war, many South Koreans associated meat-eating

with abundance and wealth

They would eat any kind of meat they could afford

Previously, they boiled meat to make soup to maximize its use

With more meat to eat, South Koreans started grilling more often

But how did 'Korean BBQ' come to be defined by pork belly -- samgyeopsal in Korean?

In fact, South Koreans eat a lot of pork

In 2016, half of meat consumed was pork

In the past, Koreans preferred beef over pork

The predilection dates back to Joseon Dynasty

Even in early 70s, eating pork was associated with greying hair or lethal parasitic infestation

So what changed all this?

Price and availability, most likely

So one theory goes, South Korea's hog industry grew massively around Busan in the 1970s

to meet demands from Japan

Because Japanese preferred lean meat, greasy pork belly was notably left out

Another theory is South Korea's rapid urbanization gave way to an increase in pork consumption

During the urban development of the 1970s, poor rural migrants who moved to Seoul started

grilling pork -- especially the parts that were thrown out

such as pork belly, skin and skirt meat

So South Koreans started marinating it in soy sauce, cooking with gochujang or making

a bite-size lettuce wrap with white rice, garlic cloves and sauce

The rise of pork belly in South Korea cannot be talked about without mentioning SOJU

South Korea's unofficial national drink

From the early 80s, it was common to pair samgyeopsal with soju shots to balance out

the greasiness of the meat -- be it in cramped alleyways in Seoul or on mountain tops

If the advent of pork belly had to do with South Korea's export industry and urbanization

It was during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis that samgyeopsal became

the king of Korean BBQ

Due to its affordability, financially struggling families and companies started dining out

at cheap pork belly joints, instead of more expensive beef barbecue restaurants

And some families would just grill at home on those portable butane gas burners that

became available

Today, pork belly is more than just a cheap option

Well, because it's not that cheap any more because of high demand

In 2015, 350,000 tons of pork was imported to South Korea

despite the increasing domestic supply

40 percent of imported pork, you guessed it, was samgyeopsal

Superheroes We Lost In 2018 So Far - Duration: 8:04.

Despite the saturation of comic based stories on screen, superhero fatigue has apparently

yet to set in with audiences, as Avengers: Infinity War cleaned up at the box office

with a record breaking take.

But just because Earth's mightiest heroes are still as popular as ever, that doesn't

mean they're all safe from elimination.

2018 has already proven to be pretty intense when it comes to central characters biting

the dust, and already this year, we have a large body count of superheroes stacking up.

"I hope they remember you."

Sure, a lot of them may be back sooner than later, but for now, let's take a moment to

mourn those we've lost across the comics universe, from the page to the small screen to the theater.

Spoilers ahead!

Clayface

It might not make sense at first to see the name of one of Batman's signature villains

on a list of fallen superheroes, but Basil Karlo had recently taken steps to change his

ways and make up for his many wrongs.

Batman was even attempting to recruit him into the ranks of the Gotham Knights, but

toward the end of the Fall of the Batmen storyline, Clayface went wild and smashed through Gotham,

destroying everything in his path.

While most of the team tried to find a non lethal way to stop their budding teammate's

rampage, Batwoman was given a gun designed to kill Clayface by her father Colonel Kane.

Detective Comics #973 ended with Batwoman blasting Basil Karlo through the skull.

And just in case it wasn't clear that this wasn't some cliffhanger, Dr. October confirmed

his death in the following issue, and Batwoman was ejected from the Gotham Knights as a result

of her act.

The Mighty Thor and Mjolnir

For years, Jane Foster has been carrying the mantle and weapon of Thor, but all that world

saving has been slowly but surely taking its toll on her.

Foster was suffering from cancer when she took up Mjolnir, and eventually, she learned

that every time she transformed into the hero, she undid all of her chemotherapy treatment.

As more people in her life learned of this, they grew more adamant that she stop turning

into Thor and let the rest of the world's heroes do the heavy lifting.

When the Mangog was unleashed on Asgardia, though, she had to step in.

In Mighty Thor #705, Thor used unbreakable chains to wrap Mjolnir and Mangog, and hurled

the both of them into the Sun.

Mjolnir was destroyed, and Mangog was imprisoned.

Without Mjolnir, Thor reverted back to Jane Foster and died.

Ultimately, the human version of herself would survive thanks to some heavenly intervention,

but her version of Thor was done for, alongside the trusty weapon.

Ghost Rider

Johnny Blaze went out in a blaze of intentional glory during Marvel's mini event, Damnation.

Mephisto seized on an opportunity to try and bring hell to Earth, by way of the City of

Sin, Las Vegas.

While Doctor Strange resisted the effort, Wong cobbled together a makeshift Midnight

Sons team that included Johnny Blaze, Marvel's original motorcycle riding Ghost Rider.

In Doctor Strange: Damnation #3, Blaze confronted Mephisto, but unimpressed with his old enemy's

bravado, Mephisto snuffed out the flame of Johnny's skull, lifting the Ghost Rider curse

from him.

Then, with Blaze's powers gone, Mephisto send him to hell alongside his "dark passenger."

But with the throne unguarded, Blaze gathered an assortment of D list supervillains to join

forces and stage a revolution to use the power of the underworld to help Strange and his

other allies, proving that even death isn't the end for some heroes.

Rip Hunter

In the season 3 finale of Legends of Tomorrow, the time hopping team lost the guy who brought

them all together: the former Time Master Rip Hunter.

Hunter perishes while trying to save his friends from the demon Mallus by detonating a time

core to give the rest of the Legends time to escape.

And while the explosion took Hunter out completely, it only weakened his demonic enemy.

Hunter wasn't alone in meeting his fate in the season finale.

The otherwise nefarious Damien Darhk sacrificed himself to Mallus to save his daughter Nora.

Ralph Dibny

The Flash's villain Clifford DeVoe, a.k.a the Thinker, has been racking up a large body

count in the show's fourth season by absorbing the powers of Central City's metas.

Perhaps the most devastating loss of all is Ralph Dibny, a.k.a. DC's Elongated Man.

Ralph had the misfortune to be standing next to DeVoe after he was captured by Team Flash.

DeVoe freed himself, and used his powers on Dibny, ending his life.

Is he gone for good?

Well, The Flash does have a tendency to bring back the departed, so time will tell.

Heimdall

Avengers: Infinity War brought a lot of loss to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the

first of its victims was one of the last Asgardians: Heimdall.

After helping to rescue the Asgardians at the end of Thor: Ragnarok, Heimdall is on

board the refugee ship when Thanos and his Black Order attack.

Although he's already badly injured, Heimdall uses the last of his strength to activate

the Bifrost and send the unconscious Hulk to Earth, and it's a decision that costs him

his life, possibly forever.

Loki

Some fans might have trouble believing Loki has finally met his maker for good this time,

considering he's "died" twice already in the first two Thor films.

"I wish I could trust you."

But Infinity War might have actually brought the God of Mischief down once and for all.

After Thanos and the Black Order board the refugee ship, Loki initially seems unwilling

to give up the Tesseract.

Unwilling to watch his brother suffer at the hands of Thanos, he gives in and gives the

bad guy what he wants.

Loki tricks everyone into thinking he wants to join Thanos in his search for the remaining

Infinity Stones… until he lunges at Thanos, dagger in hand.

He stops Loki's attack easily, and chokes the life out of him.

Considering the countless innocents who died at Loki's hands in the first Avengers, not

to mention the attempted genocide of his own race, it could be argued that Loki's death

belongs nowhere near a list of fallen superheroes.

However, considering his actions at the end of Ragnarok and beyond, while the guy might

not have been perfect, he clearly deserves to be considered more than just a supervillain.

Gamora

Of all the death doled out by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the only one that he showed

any remorse for was the sacrifice of his adoptive daughter Gamora.

Gamora is forced to reveal the location of the Soul Stone to Thanos when he threatens

to continue torturing the imprisoned Nebula.

She leads Thanos to the planet Vormir, where the two of them are met by the ghostly apparition

of the Red Skull.

The Skull explains to Thanos that in order to gain the Soul Stone, he must sacrifice

that which he loves most.

Although Gamora thinks he's lost because she believes he loves nothing, he tearfully throws

her over the rocky precipice, and we see her corpse on the ground below before Thanos claims

his prize.

Vision

As a character whose very life presumably depends upon keeping hold of one of the Infinity

Stones, the Vision is constantly threatened with death in Avengers: Infinity War.

He comes dangerously close to getting taken out the first time the Black Order attacks,

but he's saved by the timely intervention of a few friendly heroes.

Once he learns of Thanos' plans, Vision insists the only choice is to let Scarlet Witch use

her powers to destroy the Mind Stone.

Captain America brings the team to Wakanda to see if Shuri can save Vision and the universe,

but once Thanos arrives in Wakanda, it's too late.

Scarlet Witch destroys the Mind Stone, taking out Vision in the process, but Thanos uses

the powers of the Time Stone to put Vision and the Mind Stone back together, then rips

the stone from Vision's head, and leaving him lifeless once again.

Ashes to ashes

If you're watching this, you already know that Infinity War still ended with a very

dark cliffhanger.

One of the comics that heavily influenced the movie was the 1991 mini series Infinity

Gauntlet.

In the source material, the story begins when Thanos already has all six Infinity Gems,

and with a snap of his fingers, simply eliminates half the sentient beings in the universe,

including a huge chunk of Earth's superhero ranks.

Avengers: Infinity War saves this moment for the end, and it's devastating not only to

the civilian populace of the universe, but the ranks of the Avengers and their allies.

Needless to say, the Russo brothers' portrayal of the event is much more horrific than the

source material.

In Infinity War, they feel what's coming before it hits, and they're slowly erased, inch by

inch, until there's nothing left.

By the time the credits roll we see Bucky, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Drax,

Doctor Strange, Spider Man, Star Lord, Mantis, Groot, Nick Fury, and Maria Hill all get erased

from the canvas of reality.

Considering that there are already confirmed sequels in the works for Guardians of the

Galaxy, Black Panther, and Spider Man, it's a safe bet that not all of these dusty deaths

will stick.

But if they do get reversed, it likely won't be until next year's Avengers sequel, and

we won't know until then who will come back and who won't.

DISNEY DEMANDS Changes To DEADPOOL 2 So The Movie CHANGED! & Juggernaut REVEALED Explained - Duration: 6:51.

I'm really really busy doing some stuff and yeah

don't give him too much attention that's why I can't be there's this kid he's in

trouble mover Johnny pump the hate breaks Thanos

bring it on one-eyed Willy

ooh yeah your bullets they're really fast

what is good do to Warstu here let's talk about some Deadpool to news finally so

in England we can see the movie Deadpool - on the 15th of May the even which is a

Tuesday I believe which is only 11 days away which is absolutely insane guys so

let's get hype smash that like button comment down below if you are hype

remember how much height this movie brought when Deadpool 1 came out no

one's seen it coming it and they were like damn that's good

but the reason there's not much hype around this movie is because Marvel

Avengers infinity war only came out just over a week ago and everyone's still

hyping on that so really hope it doesn't affect that pool - so guys like to get

into the news so this is about Deadpool 3 coming from mr. Ryan Reynolds himself

who plays Deadpool I don't know that there would be a Deadpool 3 I really

don't I feel like the character in order for him to function properly within his

own universe you need to take everything away from him I don't think that you can

keep doing that I do see him as as being part of x-force obviously I would love

to see him in a team-up of sort of things like Manu or a great female

character from the x-men universe I just think if you're going to do another

Deadpool solo film you've got to really like get that budget down to nothing and

just swing for the fences and break all kinds of weird barriers to do stuff like

that no one else can do which is kind of strange because Deadpool one was really

amazing did really good at the box office I'm assuming they're boots who

would do pretty good so it's a bit kind of interesting that also you have to

factor in the fact that Fox will most likely the merger will go through and

Disney Walt Disney will own Deadpool so it'd be interesting to see what they can

do when they have the Disney budget but like Ryan Reynolds says that this movie

is filmed in Vancouver Canada doesn't really need a budget and it looks like

Disney are already getting their fix at changing things in the Deadpool 2 movie

even though they're not officially in charge of it so Ryan Reynolds said this

this is a sore spot for me because there's a joke in the movie that is not

in the movie now because I'm probably not even allowed to say this fox made me

take it out I had to do it more to do with Disney they made me take it out as

I look back at it I think maybe that was a wise decision I think maybe Deadpool

is referring to the line where he says talks about Thanos maybe maybe he's

talking about that one when he said pump the hate break fan offs and also there's

a bit when in the first trailer where Deadpool says why is there issues with

the special effects obviously the bit where cables got a green arm and it's

like it's a metal arm which is kind of trolling silencing Infinity Gauntlet

which is funny because obviously cable josh brolin mazing that to place than us

and he plays cable which is kind of interesting

so this there's no one actually really knows a lot about this movie we've had

the trailers but we don't know who the actual villain is really because cable

is coming for the mutant kid basically he's an antagonistic person kind of like

Red Hood and then kind of people he's not a villain

so there has been massive rumors going around the internet that juggernaut

could be appearing in Deadpool 2 nothing is confirmed so until the movie comes

out in two weeks guys we won't really know but what is interesting in their

recent TV spot you can see in the screenshot I'm gonna overlay now

Colossus is sorry nearly all of his weight into a punch and you see all you

see is his fist colliding with seamlessly in movable objects of course

this has the x-men's found speculating that the hero is going toe-to-toe with

juggernaut a villain that he fought numerous times in the comics now if they

were to introduce someone like juggernaut that would be pretty cool but

you could just argue that Colossus is punching pretty much anything else in

the clip but take a closer look at the surface and you see his fist is climbing

it's made of armor like material it nicks its scratches all over and it it's

sharp closely resembles that of a bell just

like the juggernaut massive helmet so I don't know guys is juggernaut in it he

could be pretty interesting this is a train right on I'm just going over some

Deadpool News I really hope they do keep the

Deadpool franchise alive but I understand what Ryan Browns are saying

there's no point Keaton like punching if they're not swinging and it's

interesting seeing it's that yeah that Disney made them take scenes out of the

movie scene as Disney don't own it but I can see why Disney don't want them

trolling say Alice if that is the kind of bit what they're on about because

when Disney takes over obviously in a year's time or so Avengers 4 probably

coming out this time next year so they don't really want Deadpool troll in

Marvel because if we part the MTU and obviously taking over Fox the big thing

they want is Deadpool I'm presuming so I really hope they don't end up ruining

the franchise because like anyway guys please like subscribe and comment if you

want me to do more Deadpool 2 videos let me know guys the reason I haven't is

because really hard to do DC and Marvel TV shows movies I only do this as a

hobby so I struggle it's kind of get enough content out I can only make one

one video most days maybe two so it's half me guys but thanks for all this

walk guys that you're killing it with sport so any requested videos for

anything flash arrow infinity war Deadpool 2 and my kind of stuff just

drop them down below guys and I will catch you in another video very soon and

I will also catch you guys in that community tab yes I see all your

comments and it's a good way to interact me anyway guys I will catch you in a

video very soon guys catch ya
