1989 Mitsubishi Magna Elite Review - Duration: 5:18.

Hello, Everyone!

Welcome to another of my videos.

Today, we are driving a 1989 Mitsubishi Magna Elite.

This was a locally built car.

There were overall three different generations of Magna's produced from 1985 till 2005.

This was on here is the range topping Elite model of the first generation.

The car is fairly well equipped for its time.

Two tone metallic paint was standard on this Elite model.

It has 15-inch alloy wheels with ventilated disc brakes at the front and solid disc brakes

at the rear.

Central Locking and Cruise Control. You also get Power Steering, Power Windows,

Power Mirrors and Power Antenna. Inside you have nice velour interior with

Digital Dash. Automatic Temperature Control Air Conditioning and

A 4 Speaker Radio Cassette Player with Equalizer.

Really nice and comfortable rear seats with integrated headrest and folding centre armrest.

There is no shortage of legroom or headroom here.

The front seats are even better with side bolsters and lumbar support.

The driver seat is 7-way adjustable.

Let me start the car and quickly show you the engine bay, followed by some exhaust sound.

We are going to look at the interior now.

Passenger side power window switch, glove box and the passenger air vent.

Center air vents, air conditioning controls, cigarette lighter and the ashtray.

A small storage box, factory cassette player with equaliser.

4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive, hand brake lever, power mirror switch and

the central console storage.

Wiper controller knob, intermittent wiper speed controller, air conditioning temperature

and fan speed controller.

Main cruise control button,

hazard light switch, indicator switch,

parking light, rear window defogger, back-light intensity controller and the headlight knob.

All the power windows switches are mounted on the driver door armrest.

You also have some steering mounted audio control switches.

Driver and passenger side sun visor and the courtesy lamp.

Digital LCD Dash with oil pressure and battery voltage.

You get few warning lights at the bottom as you turn the key to on position.

Let us go for a drive and tell you more about the car.

I was fairly surprised by the built quality of this car.

I love the interior, my favourite is the digital dash.

I also like how Mitsubishi has laid out all the creature comfort controls really close

the steering wheel.

In fact, you can operate most of them without even taking your eyes off the road.

The seats are really comfortable on this car and you will definitely love the quietness

of the interior.

Mitsubishi offered two different engines.

In reality they are actually the same engine.

One with carburetor setup and the other with Multi-Point EFI.

This one comes with the EFI engine.

This is a 2.6L SOHC 8V I4 engine which was marketed as "Astron II" in Australia.

As you can see from the figures there is nothing to be excited about this engine but compared to the

carburetted version which only makes 83kW this is definitely an improvement.

While this engine might not have the big power output but peak torque is available at 2400

rpm and overall the power delivery is fairly smooth.

The gear changes on this electronically controlled 4 speed automatic transmission with electronic

overdrive is smooth and effortless.

This is a family sedan and it behaves like one.

So, don't expect any sporty handling characteristics from this car rather enjoy the comfortable

ride and the safe handling.

Here are the official fuel consumption figures - In my test, which mainly consisted of city

driving, I have managed to get 10.66 L/100 km.

These first generation Magna's are known

to have few mechanical issues.

The early years models had lots of issues with their automatic transmission.

The engine suffered from cracked head, noisy timing chain and worn out valve stem seals.

On the outside the body is prone to rust as well.

Most of these repairs are fairly expensive and will probably cost more than the car is

actually worth.

I had very low expectation from this car.

But, I was surprised by the specious and comfortable interior and really enjoyed the quiet and

smooth ride offered by this car.

I wish the engine had more power.

You hardly see any of the first generation Magna's on the road these days and I am

very glad that I had the opportunity to drive this one.

Feel free to share, like and comment on this video and consider subscribing to my channel.

Finally, I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to watch my video.

I will catch you next time, Bye now!

Adam Savage demos Blind Spot Detection Technology - Duration: 1:49.

(keyboard typing) (acoustic guitar riff)

(playful music)

As technology advances, cars are getting smarter.

Today, cars can provide even more useful information

to you as a driver.

For instance, let's say you're driving

and you wanna change lanes.

- Adam, watch out!!

Woah!

[Labored Breathing]

The new cars can actually tell you

when someone is in your blind spot,

and this new system is much, much more reliable.

In this car, the blind spot, or blind spots, actually,

are about this big, and for eons, detecting a car

in your blind spot has required

this classic driving maneuver.

But even still, cars can slip in there.

Now there's blind spot warning.

The way blind spot detection technology works

is that when I'm about to change lanes, cameras

and sensors on my cars can detect a car

in my blind spot and send me a warning.

Okay, I'm goin' about 35 miles per hour, and there is a car

sittin' right in my blind spot.

That car is driven by a professional driver

on a closed course.

And I'm gonna try changing lanes.

Here we go.

Whoa, okay, so clearly my car doesn't like that,

because it's flashing at me.

Cool!

I'm going to ignore it and change lanes anyway.

Here we go.

(rapid beeping) (honking)

Whoa, okay, okay!

I guess I shoulda listened.

94% of fatal car crashes involve human error,

error that may have been avoided

if a different choice had been made.

Choices that may have been different

with crash avoidance technology.

Volvo S80 (2006-2016) buying advice - Duration: 8:03.

By now, the S80 is no longer in production

because the new model has been given a new name, the S90.

The big sedan wasn't the most successful version in the Netherlands.

So not that many have been sold.

The S80 didn't do so bad though.

Which is why the S90 was developed

but there are obviously other big markets where these cars sell well.

Plenty of comfort, plenty of space and exceptionally safe

but it doesn't handle so well, sadly.

And you may not expect it

but in some way I think this is quite a nice car.

I would actually like to drive a S80 for half a year or a year.

I can't really explain why.

Because it doesn't really suit me.

A size too big and too soft, and especially not sharp enough.

But there is something about it.

Maybe it's because our previous queen drove one as well

because Beatrix was quite the Volvo fan.

She used several S80's, as well as a few long wheel based versions.

Our new King has changed that however.

But it adds to the status of this car.

As for the engines, do you have a few minutes?

There have been a lot of changes

because the S80 has been in production for 10 years

but mostly because Volvo updates their engines on a regular basis.

So the list of S80 engine possibilities is almost endless

and often the differences are very small.

The range of engines is also huge.

The Drive-E for example was quite a weird edition

which was a 1.6 diesel with 150 horsepower

and very low emission rates.

But it was also quite underpowered for a car like the S80.

Then there was also a V8

which was developed and built by Yamaha.

So the differences between the engines are quite big.

And there are many choices of both petrol and diesel engines.

But there have been so many varieties

so be sure to precisely check which engine is on offer.

And while we are discussing the Marktplaats offers

there currently are approximately 100 advertisements.

About a quarter are manuals

and I think thats quite a lot for this type of car.

But that has something to do with

the taxes on the low emission models.

And only the manual models were in the lower category.

Diesels make up approximately 60% of the offers.

And currently this generation of the S80 starts at about 7.000 Euros.

And those cars have about 200 to 400 thousand kilometres on the clock.

But there are also several fresh cars available

for example the D6, but those start at around 40 to 50 thousand.

There are also several important known issues if you are thinking of a S80.

One of the options for example is the adaptive chassis

which is called 4C and was a great technology.

There were big noticeable differences between comfort, sport and advanced.

This car isn't equipped with it by the way.

It used complex technology and when it breaks,

I am not saying that this happens fast, but when it does it is expensive to repair.

So keep that in mind when choosing between cars with and without that option.

Decide if it is really that important.

There are several issues with the engines as well.

The D5 5-Cylinder for example

sometimes has a malfunctioning cylinder.

This happens for two reasons

One is that there is a loose plug

which is easy to fix.

Otherwise it is a broken injector, which obviously requires more work

or is at least more expensive to repair.

As for the automatic transmissions

the first generations are a little old-fashioned.

They are not the most refined but that also fits this car's character.

The fact that they don't change gear to swiftly doesn't really matter

But when it starts skipping or stays stuck in gears

then it's worrying, because that may mean the gearbox needs a revision.

Something that never hurts, as always in these videos,

is to flush the automatic gearbox if that hasn't been done before.

Some new oil is always a good idea to remove some of the dirt

which may prevent problems.

Another problem with the diesels is the possible disruption of the variable valve timings.

This may result in loss of power and a high-pitched whistle.

Cleaning the valves should prevent that.

Another problem with the diesels

When regenerating the particle filter

fuel may mix with the oil

and this causes the oil level to rise, especially with the 4-Cylinders.

This may lead to several other problems.

So pay attention to this, and make sure not to only do economy runs in the diesels

but hit the throttle every once in a while so the engine heats up properly.

This helps regenerating the particle filters.

Because this just requires an up tempo drive.

The 5-Cylinder petrol engines have problems with the carter vents

so don't keep driving when you hear a high-pitched whistle because that may cause other problems.

There is a new version of the oil filter housing that solves this problem.

Then there are the electronics.

The S80 isn't that notorious for failures

but there are many options available.

This one too, this for example has seat heating and ventilation.

So check all the options

because there are a few things that may break.

For example the ignition, which may break and needs replacing.

The electronic handbrake may not release either

which makes it difficult to drive away, but that can be resolved.

But annoying nonetheless.

And there is a computer near the passengers feet

and when it is accidentally kicked something may come loose.

Which causes the car to do weird electronic things.

So if you have very weird issues, dive underneath the passengers side dashboard to see if there is anything weird there.

And ask your wife if she kicked the dashboard because she was angry.

Very possible.

The interior is quite bulletproof.

There are however some complaints about wear on the leather

but I think that has more to do with the higher mileage which quite a few S80's have.

We found this car at the bangarage.

A nice 6 in line, transversed in the front.

Which may result in a larger turning circle.

Nicely equipped as well.

I think this is a chic S80.

Are you looking for a second-hand car and would you like our help?

Or do you own a car dealer and do you have a great car for sale

What You Don't Know About TESLA! - Duration: 11:10.

What You Don't Know About Tesla!

17.

An Affordable Tesla Right now Teslas are considered to be luxury

vehicles, and their prices reflect that.

What most people don't know, however, is that Tesla has always planned to release an

affordable car.

Elon Musk has long said in interviews that his plan for breaking into the car market

as a new player was to establish the Tesla brand as a well known high-end carmaker, and

then use that brand recognition to push into the consumer car market.

The Model 3 is that offering, and will start at just $35,000 when it is released later

this year.

16.

Second-Oldest Publicly Traded American Car Manufacturer

It may seem surprising, but Tesla Motors is actually the second-oldest publicly traded

American auto manufacturer, behind Ford which had its initial public offering in 1956.

This is because General Motors, or GM, despite being traded since 1916, went bankrupt and

had their stock de-listed in 2009.

GM did re-enter the stock market with an IPO in November 2010, but this was five months

after Tesla's IPO in June of 2010.

Chrysler re-entered the market in 2014.

15.

In The Company of Friends Although Tesla Motors is still considered

a new, up-and-coming car manufacturer, they've got quite a lot to show for their time in

the world.

Tesla Motors currently employs more than 14,000 people, has a market value exceeding $33 billion,

and has seen its stock rise more than 1000% since its first public offering.

Although the company technically hasn't had a profitable year yet, their annual revenue

continues to rise year over year, with revenues rising nearly $1 billion each year since 2013.

As of right now, Tesla Motors sells mainly direct to customers, as its sales model is

having difficulty gaining traction in many states.

In fact, Tesla currently only has 52 showrooms worldwide, compared to thousands owned by

other car manufacturers.

14.

Tesla Repaid Their ATVM Loan - 9 Years Early The Department of Energy lent Tesla Motors

a whopping $465 million to help them get off the ground and get operations set up.

They were given a term of 12 years to repay the loan when it was awarded to the fledgling

company in 2010.

However, Tesla raised over $1 billion in their second offering, and wisely chose to put about

half of those funds to getting their ATVM loan paid off - a full 9 years before they

were scheduled to do so.

13.

The Model S Broke The Stress Testing Machine The Tesla Model S, by far their most successful

vehicle to date, is renowned for being one of the safest, most durable vehicles on the

road.

It's so safe, in fact, that when the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)

attempted to administer a crush test to the Model S, it actually broke their machine.

That's right - the machine designed to break cars itself broke when it tried to crush the

Model S. Because of this, the Model S holds the title for the highest safety rating of

any car, ever.

12.

Highest Ever Consumer Reports Rating Consumer Reports, the organization and publication

which is widely trusted for providing crucially accurate information about products, recently

gave the Tesla Model S the highest rating they've ever awarded any car - a 99/100.

This came after rigorous testing and retesting to ensure that they hit every possible point

and discovered every possible weakness, and even then they were still astonished by how

robust the car is.

The only points the car really got against it all had to do with how it charges - the

all-electric vehicle can take up to 12 hours to refill its batteries, and charging stations

are not yet available throughout the country.

Tesla has plans to change that, however, and already offers free charging up and down the

California coast.

11.

Tesla Supercharging Network Regarding that network up and down the California

coast, it's pretty remarkable already.

Formally announced in 2012, the network of superchargers aims to downplay anxiety over

the range of Tesla vehicles - owners and potential owners alike worry that they will not be able

to take long trips in their Tesla vehicle, since there currently aren't many places

to top up.

The network built by Tesla now provides a much faster option, and for free.

The network of Tesla charging stations currently offer a service which can charge your battery

to 50% in just 30 minutes, and are planning to integrate a system which will allow them

to swap your battery out for a full one, essentially giving you a full charge in about 2 minutes.

10.

A Name From Greatness The name Tesla is now a familiar one in American

households, and this is largely due to the excellent marketing and strategies of CEO

Elon Musk.

However, less people know where the name itself comes from.

The name Tesla is an homage to Nikola Tesla, a Serbian-American electrical engineer who

lived in the early part of the 20th century and is directly responsible for nearly every

modern electrical device.

Although Thomas Edison is given credit for bringing electricity to the masses, his systems

actually fell far short of those created by Tesla, and it was Tesla's designs which

have made our modern life possible.

Tesla Motors was named after this man to honor his legacy as well as to celebrate the work

he did.

9.

Elon Musk Wants To Eliminate Side Mirrors Although he has already significantly changed

the face of the auto industry, Elon Musk isn't done yet.

He also wants to change the face of the cars themselves - literally.

When the Model X was debuted, spectators noticed it lacked side mirrors.

Instead, the car used small cameras built into the doors, paired with monitors on the

inside of the doors, to replace the antiquated side mirror system.

This drastically reduced the drag coefficient of the vehicle (giving it far better aerodynamics),

while keeping the vehicle just as safe.

Unfortunately this broke Federal safety regulations, so the production model of the X does in fact

have side mirrors.

Nevertheless, Musk has stated that he will seek to change those law.

8.

Tesla's Patents Are 100% Open For Use Elon Musk has stated many times that his number

one priority with Tesla Motors is to change how humans interact with the environment.

To do this, he knows that he has to make electric cars viable for mainstream acceptance, as

well as make people want them.

Rather than just trying to do this on his own, though, Musk has taken a fairly revolutionary

step with Tesla - he has made all of its patents open for public use.

Musk encourages other manufacturers to adopt the creations and improvements Tesla has made,

in order to bring these features into public use faster and more widely than would otherwise

be possible.

This is an unprecedented step, and one for which Tesla has been widely commended.

7.

Musk Didn't Start Tesla On His Own Although Elon Musk deserves much of the credit

for the mainstream, widespread success of Tesla Motors, he didn't do it all on his

own.

In fact, the company was originally founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

In fact, Eberhard served as the company's CEO until 2007.

Musk came into the company when he led the first investment round in 2004 and joined

the board of directors as Chairman, later of course going on to become the company's

CEO.

The Gigafactory No one has bet on Tesla's success more than

Tesla itself.

In fact, the company is investing more than $5 billion to build what it calls the Gigafactory

1.

The factory, which will produce lithium-ion batteries both for use in Tesla vehicles as

well as home battery arrays for solar power, is being constructed in Nevada and, although

it is not 100% operational as of yet, is already producing batteries on a limited scale.

The name Gigafactory comes from the company's goal for the plant to be able to produce 35

gigawatt-hours annually.

It is expected that this facility will reduce the cost to produce a Tesla battery by as

much as 30%.

Tesla is so invested in this idea that a Gigafactory 2 is already being planned for Europe.

5.

Commitment to Renewable Energy Tesla means business when it comes to renewable

energy.

With a facility as large and energy-hungry as the Gigafactory discussed above, you'd

think that Tesla would have to cave and subsidise some of its power needs with traditional grid

power.

Not so, actually - the Gigafactory will run on 100% renewable energy.

Much of this will come from onsite solar sources, since the Gigafactory is being constructed

in sunny Nevada, and will itself be covered in solar panels.

Tesla notes on its website that the Gigafactory will offset its energy needs so much by generating

renewable energy that its energy footprint will balance out to essentially zero.

4.

Virtually No Replacements Needed A lot of people still don't quite understand

the appeal of electric vehicles.

And that's okay - companies have a long way to go before they can convince the American

public that getting rid of their gas guzzler is a good idea.

This is especially challenging when the entry cost for a Model S is just shy of $90,000.

But one fact which might help sway some potential buyers is that the Model S itself, once you

own it, requires virtually no maintenance.

The electric motor is far less hassle to maintain than an internal combustion engine, and the

car only has 6 parts which need regular replacement.

Those parts are the 4 tires and the 2 windshield wiper blades.

3.

Solving A Major Problem Although the Model S is known to be essentially

the safest vehicle ever made, Tesla ran into some bad press in 2013 when certain car collisions

resulted in vehicle fires.

This was due mainly to the battery packs which power the Model S being punctured and catching

fire.

Although the drivers all exited the vehicles long before safety became an issue, Tesla

nevertheless received a lot of bad press regarding the incidents, and was forced to respond.

Their response was total; Tesla installed three shields along the underbody of the Model

S which effectively eliminated the risk.

The shields consist of a rounded, hollow aluminum bar which deflect or absorb the impact of

any debris in the road.

The next piece, the most substantial, is a titanium plate covering the battery area as

well as the front of the vehicle, and not only protects the vehicle but will destroy

objects caught under it.

Finally a solid aluminum extrusion blocks any debris which might remain and absorbs

the impact, effectively negating the risk they pose.

2.

Bioweapon Defense As if regular everyday safety weren't enough,

Tesla Motors has equipped the Model X with a medical-grade air filter which is capable

of scrubbing the air inside the cabin of everything from smog to bioweapons.

In fact, this system is modeled after and specced to match that of hospital filtration

systems.

1.

What's In A Name You may have noticed that Tesla has what appears

to be a fairly straight forward naming system for their vehicles.

They've only produced three cars to date, but the names themselves, while simple, might

seem a bit arbitrary to you.

We've got the Model S, the high-end luxury sedan, then came the Model Y, the luxury SUV.

Recently announced and soon to be released is the Model 3, the consumer grade Tesla.

What do these names stand for?

Well, it might become a bit clearer when you realize that the next Tesla is rumored to

be the Model Y, and that Elon Musk himself has confirmed that the naming conventions

do have a purpose.

Let's line those up, and it should become clear.

S,3,X,Y.

How To: Cut Wheel Detailing Time In Half! - Chemical Guys Car Care - Duration: 3:23.

What's up guys welcome back to the Detail Garage.

Today we've got this Ford Edge in the shop and just like many of you have it has water

spots, scratches and oxidation on the wheels.

So using our Ball Buster Polishing Pad we're going to clean it all up to get this rim looking

shiny and its best.

Using some Light Metal Polish that has natural cleaning oils and wax that brings out the

shine as well as protect the finish.

More importantly it is going to get rid of harmful elements that are stuck in the wheel

which can start degrading the finish causing premature wheel failure.

To load up our pad we're going to shake up the bottle to mix all the chemicals together.

I'll apply a couple dots to the applicator.

Then I'll spread it out on the area that we'll be working on.

This can be used with a regular drill, we'll keep it on the lowest speed setting so we

are still in control but the great thing about this brush is it has a built in sleeve that

while you're working prevents you from putting your hand on a spinning shaft.

The appearance of the Ball Buster may seem big and intimidating but it is really soft

and contours to the crevices of the wheel getting the spokes cleaned up.

We're going to get started by slowly spreading it out and then we work it in until it has

done its job and at that time we'll buff off the excess.

So now that I've worked the polish into this small section, I'll take a gray microfiber

towel and start buffing it off.

The reason I went for gray is because I dedicated these for any kind of metal surfaces like

polished aluminum wheels or exhaust tips to prevent cross contaminating it with any other

areas of the vehicle.

Already you can see there is a high shine, it looks factory and all the water spots are

gone.

It has done a great job and it is super easy to use so now I'm not fatigued or tired and

now I can finish off the other three wheels.
