Hello and welcome to Hopper HQ's social bullets keeping you up-to-date with the
latest social media news and hottest up-and-coming trends
Firstly 'Sandwiching', not just a delicious lunch snack but actually the latest strategy in how we
can best work with Instagram's rather mysterious algorithm.
conspiracies have been brewing lately suggesting that Instagram are throttling the reach of
post with a promotional nature which we understand why they're doing that
but actually if you're using Instagram to promote an event or something with
time sensitivity then actually it means that it's not massively effective for you.
AGB the brand that owns and operates the rights to Elvis Presley
have actually found the new strategy of sandwiching which means that they're
able to get beyond this throtting and restriction and get more engagement for
that post. This strategy is simple you post a piece of content which you're
confident will get a huge amount of engagement from something you've learnt
before or something that your audience really loves post this first followed by
promotional post and then followed again by another successful posts and the one
that sandwiched in the middle gets wrapped up in the increased engagement
around your account and then extends the reach of that post. In a test which they
ran AG be found that a post using sandwich in gets 1.2 million engagements*
whereas a very similar post without the strategy only got around 500,000.
Might be worth testing this if you're using Instagram for promotional posts and
you're not quite getting where you need it.
Now the age-old question of how much
is too much, the publisher Fox 32 have recently been awarded and having the
highest engaged Facebook page of any other publisher. Average of 3.16
likes, comments or shares across their 1.3 million Facebook fans. How do
they do it they've basically post a lot of content, forty to fifty pieces of
content per day. They're sharing a whole host of information from travel, weather
and news reports that they think they audience may
be interested in. As well as their high engagement rates their Facebook fan base
is still continuing to grow so it's a testament to the fact that sometimes for
some audiences, more genuinely is more.
Turning our focus to your social media
here are our top picks for the trends and hashtags which we believe will be
getting the most attention for this week. If you've not already prepped your feed
now is the time to pumpkin up and get freaky, because Halloween is just a
matter of hours away. We expect it to be the biggest trending topic of the week

brand and something Halloween on your social media feeds. Wednesday the 1st of
November is All Saints Day, a Christian celebration of All Saints known and
unknown. So if you think this could be aligned or resonate with your audience
it may be worth seeing how you can incorporate the celebration into your
communication this week. Back to sandwiches again because on Friday the
3rd of November it's international sandwich day so it's your chance to
celebrate everything all sandwichy and delicious this one really does get lots
of conversation on social media so it could really be a great thing to
integrate within your brand communication whether you even you're a
food brand or not and finally you can close your week with a bang as Sunday
the 5th of November is bonfire night although traditionally a uk-based
celebration bonfire night also known as fireworks night or Guy Fawkes Day is a
huge celebration internationally and it really does get a lot of action on
social media so whether you're just filling your feed with fireworks or
engaging with people who are celebrating the day it's a great way to extend your
reach and speak to your audience if they're within a relevant demographic
