Is reading the Veda allowed? - Duration: 7:32.

IS READING THE VEDA ALLOWED?

Datta Jayanti.

December 22, 2018 Dr. Nikhil asked: Padanamaskarams Swamiji!

In Your discourse on December 16, 2018, You have said that memorizing the Veda without

knowing its meaning is wrong based on the following verse:

gītī śīghrī śiraḥkampī tathā likhitapāṭhakaḥ anarthajñaḥ alpakaṇṭhaśca ṣaḍete

pāṭhakādhamāḥ But

by the same verse, reading and reciting the Veda from a printed book, is also equally

wrong.

So, this verse cannot be used to justify Your recommendation given to the priests that they

should give up blind memorization and recitation, and focus on knowing the Veda.

If they are to not memorize and recite the Veda and instead use the printed mantras and

explain the meaning of the verses to the public, this verse criticizes that too.

Of course, this is only a superficial objection, since You have very clearly explained that

recitation was done earlier only because it was the need of the time then.

It is not needed anymore.

You have also clearly explained that the knowledge of the Veda is the core essential aspect,

which cannot be neglected under any circumstances.

In any case, Your clarification would be valuable.

Your servant.

Nikhil.

Swami replied: O Learned and Devoted Servants of God!

The priests quote the above verse out of the fear that someone might read the Vedic hymns

from a printed book and easily take away the money-offerings from the public that would

have otherwise come to them.

If that were to happen, all their hard work of memorization and the blind recitation of

the Veda would go waste.

Regarding the necessity of studying the meaning of the Veda, I have already quoted a number

of authorities.

On the other hand, you have quoted only the authority of this one verse discouraging the

reading of the Veda from a printed book.

You will be surprised to know that the same priests who quote this verse, also quote another

verse which says the reverse.

The other verse says that the priest shall recite the Veda only by reading from a printed

book while doing the rituals after death, the annual ceremonies of departed souls etc.,

which are called aparam (Apare granthapāṭhakaḥ).

You see this practice even today among the priests.

Another point in the verse mentioned by you is that one should not sing the Veda (gītī).

But this point fails since the Sāma Veda is always to be sung.

It means that such instructions are not very strict and are subject to alteration.

As you have correctly said, this point of not reading the Veda from written scripts

(likhita pāṭhakāḥ) applies to ancient times when printing technology was absent

and writing on palm leaves was the only technology that existed.

Hence, the word likhita means the writing by hand on palm leaves.

Such hand-written scripts used to be extremely few in number due to the difficulties in writing

on palm leaves.

The technology to preserve these palm leaf scripts was also absent.

So, the preservation of the Veda through blind recitation and passing it from one generation

to the other was inevitable.

But the sages did not stop with mere recitation.

They proceeded to study the Vedas.

Today, human longevity and health have diminished.

Memorizing and learning to recite the Veda is time-consuming and it takes more than ten

years.

By this time, the person is already exhausted and he cannot spend another ten years-time

to study the meaning of the Veda.

Moreover, now, the recitation is not even necessary since the Veda is well-printed and

well-preserved.

In view of the present situation, the more important point of studying the meaning of

the Veda should be given priority compared to the point of blind recitation of the Veda.

This is being said especially since the preservation of the Veda by recitation is serving no purpose

when the Veda is already well-preserved by printing.

Of course, there is some merit in memorization in that one can quote from the Veda without

having to refer to a book.

It makes a good impression on the public.

But it is a very negligible advantage compared to being able to give a proper explanation

of the meaning of the Veda.

Certain conditions are not strict and they can be altered as per one's convenience.

Such flexible rules or conditions are said to be vaikalpika.

Let's see an example of this.

In the context of performing the Atirātra ritual-sacrifice, the Veda makes two contradicting

statements.

The first statement is that one should see the star called Ṣoḍaśī while performing

the sacrifice called Atirātra (Atirātre ṣoḍaśinam gṛhṇāti).

The other statement is that the star Ṣoḍaśī need not be seen while performing the same

sacrifice (Nātirātre ṣoḍaśinam gṛhṇāti).

This is actually not a mutual contradiction.

Here two alternatives are being stated (vaikapika).

One may see the star if convenient, but if it is inconvenient due to cloudy skies, one

need not see the star.

Similarly, one may sing the Veda if it is the Sāma Veda since the Sāma Veda is supposed

to be sung.

But if it is a Veda other than the Sāma Veda, then one may not sing it, since the other

three Vedas, being either poetry or prose, are recited, and not sung.

Several parameters have to be considered while drawing the true meaning of any statement.

For instance, the specific time or situation in which the statement is applicable needs

to be considered.

In the case of the above verse, regarding likhita pāṭhakās, the instruction applies

to ancient times, when the preservation of the Veda through memorization was essential.

Similarly, the place where the statement is applicable also must be considered.

For example, singing applies to the Sāma Veda but not to the other Vedas.

Only upon considering all such parameters can one reach the actual heart of the meaning.

Several authorities can be quoted, which all stress on the importance of studying the meaning

of the Veda, which is required for explaining spiritual knowledge to others.

Studying the meaning of the Veda is not vaikalpika, which means that it is not subject to alteration.

The Veda has stressed on knowledge through statements such as "Ya evam Veda, Brahmaṇā

vividiśanti, Sāṅgo vedo adhetavyo jñeyaśca".

The Brahma Sūtras also stress on knowledge through sūtras such as "Athāto Brahma

jijñāsā and Śāstra yonitvāt".

The Gita emphasizes the necessity of knowledge through numerous verses including "Vedaiśca

sarvairahameva vedyaḥ, Yat jñātvā amṛtamaśnute, Nahi jñānena sadṛṣam, Sarvam jñānaplavenaiva

and so on.

Finally, I state once again that the very word 'Veda' means knowledge (Vidul-jñāne).

I cannot give more stress on the importance of knowing the meaning of the Veda than this.

'It would be good business for Arsenal': Pundit believes Man Utd deal COULD be done - Duration: 2:13.

Sidwell was appearing alongside Ryan Mason on Sky Sports' The Debate show when he made the claim

When asked if Bailly could move to the Emirates, Sidwell replied: "We've seen them do deals before

"We've seen [Robin] Van Persie, [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan, [Alexis] Sanchez, so I wouldn't say no

"I think with Bailly, I look at him, I feel sorry for him at times. It was just the inconsistency with how he played

"He had some outstanding games when you're watching him the next time, he'd be really poor

"I think the times that he has been poor he's just been overexposed. "That formation that Jose was setting up, the protection in front just wasn't there and it left them exposed, the whole back four but individuals as well

" Unai Emery is only in the market for loan signings this window and Mason thinks Bailly would 'fit into the Arsenal team'

"I think he's a player that has got room to improve. I think technically he can improve

I like him," he said. "He's a defender, you can tell he enjoys defending. He's been in a difficult situation at Manchester United

"I mean, he's been all over the place. Their back four, they've been rotating all the time, he's had a few injuries as well

"He's found it really hard to cement that place down, as well. "But if Manchester United are willing to sell him and Arsenal can get him then I think that would be good business for Arsenal

"

Can angmoh speak Singlish? | Let's talk SINGLISH, KOREAN DIALECTS & ESPERANTO - Duration: 7:39.

I think the Busan dialect is kind of cute, so I tried using it

but sometimes, especially from guys, I get asked "why do you use saturi, it's not feminine at all"

But I've also had the reaction that saturi (dialect) is very charming

Then again sometimes people just are confused as to why I would use saturi if I'm not Korean

I use it playfully sometimes

I'm sure doing like that is ok

But the ... how to say... reactions?

the reactions I get really depend on the person

What do you guys think?

Is it weird or strange if a foreigner uses a dialect? Is it cute?

I've never lived in Korea

so I guess it's weird if I suddenly just use it

Console/Controller Fortnite Is Broken...Here's Why! (PS4 + Xbox Fortnite Battle Royale) - Duration: 11:00.

Hey what is going on guys, in this video today we're gonna be going over the biggest problems

with controller/console Fortnite.

I actually made a video about this same topic a while back, maybe 5 or 6 months ago, and

it's good to see that the majority of problems I covered in that video have for the most

part been solved.

We've seen the addition of things like custom button binds, building sensitivity multiplier,

and builder pro builds instantly, all of which have gone a long way when it comes to leveling

the playing field between mouse and keyboard Fortnite vs. controller Fortnite.

However, it still definitely isn't perfect.

There are some major issues that if handled correctly, could make the game so much better

for so many Fortnite players.

And me personally, I'm someone that's played with a controller since the very begging.

I've played on console, I've played on PC, I know what it's like from pretty much every

perspective, so I feel like this is a topic thats really right up my alley.

And, I know the majority of my viewers are either console or controller players, so a

lot of you guys will probably be able to relate to most of the things we discuss.

So, without further ado, let's get right into it.

Alright so let's start this video off by discussing the FPS problems of console Fortnite.

In my opinion, the max FPS advantage that PC Fortnite has over console Fortnite is the

biggest reason the 2 platforms aren't on an even playing field.

And unfortunately, due to the fact that every single model of the PS4 and Xbox is capped

at 60 FPS, this is a problem that, to my knowledge at least, is pretty much unfixable.

However, the max FPS being capped at 60 isn't the issue that I want to focus on in this

section because that isn't really a Fortnite problem.

What I want to focus on is the amount of frame rate drop that console Fortnite players have

to deal with on a daily basis, and why Epic IS responsible for THAT problem.

Let's start with the most extreme example of this.

So, I don't know how many of you guys watching this video have ever played in a ery populated

scrim lobby on console before, if you have I'm sure you know what I'm about to say, and

if you haven't let me paint you a picture of what that's like.

Playing in something like a quote unquote "stacked" tfue or mfam scrim means that there

will be about 40-50 people still alive in the final 3-4 end game circles.

Now, this many people being so close together leads to the game not really being able to

handle it, and it compensates for this by lowering the frames per second each player

is getting.

On PC this is certainly noticeable and it will get definitely players killed from time

to time, but it doesn't even begin to compare to what console players have to deal with.

The FPS that you're getting at this point in the match, honestly, it makes it seem more

like you're playing minecraft or going through one of those paper flipbooks where if you

flip through it really fast, an image starts to move across the pages.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that in a lot of these end game scrim scenarios, the

game is simply borderline unplayable.

There's a reason why for the winter royale, out of the 200 total players who qualified

for the event, I believe 1 played on console.

It's funny because Epic always tries to preach that all Fortnite platforms are on a totally

even playing field, if that's true, why did all of console Fortnite combined make up 0.5%

of qualifying players, while PC made up 99.5% of qualifying players?

There was a somewhat decent amount of controller on PC players who qualified, but only 1 controller

on console.

But, even if you don't play in any kinda of scrims, pop-up cups, or qualifier events with

stacked end games, you're still bound to run into a variety of console performance issues.

Hitches, lag spikes, freezes, random frame drops out of nowhere, I'm sure that kinda

stuff also does happen on PC, but it's on a way way way less consistent basis.

It doesn't matter if you have a regular ps4/xbox, ps4 pro, xbox one x, or any other model, you're

bound to run into these problems.

There's a reason why someone like NickMercs who always played on console, was forced to

play 1 LAN tournament on PC, came back home, and said he could never play on console again

after that.

Now here's whats interesting about this problem.

Many really smart people believe that it could fixed to some degree, or at the very least

improved, by allowing players to play on lower graphical settings.

This is something that's possible on PC fortnite, and, is also possible on other console games

as well.

An example that I saw someone bring up was the game Forza Horizon 4.

On xbox, there's a setting in that game called "performance mode" which when enabled, lowers

the overall quality of the graphics, but allows you to play on 60 FPS vs. the standard 30

FPS that the game usually gets.

If a setting like that can make a different game get an extra 30 FPS, I think it's totally

realistic that something similar on Fortnite could make the game less glitchy and at the

very least feel bit smoother.

And it doesn't even need to be as crazy as entirely new quality modes.

We're in season 7 of Fortnite, and console players still don't have the option to turn

off specific graphic enhancements such as shadows and motion blur.

It just doesn't make a ton of sense to me that guys who play on a $3000 PC can lower

their Fortnite graphics settings, but people playing on a console who are way more likely

to need lower graphic settings can't.

The next thing I wanna dive into are the custom bindings for Fortnite controller players.

Epic really did an incredible job when adding this feature into the game.

And by doing such a good job, they almost leveled the playing field between keyboard

binds and controller binds as much as humanely possible.

The only major binding problem that still remains is the lack of the ability to custom

bind our inventory slots.

Right now, I believe that every button layout for controller Fortnite except for standard

uses the bumpers to switch inventory slots.

So barring any unusual binds, on PS4 that will be your L1 and R1 buttons and on Xbox

it's RB and LB.

On PC however, players are able to bind their inventory slots to whichever buttons they

would like.

And, even though I'm not an expert on keyboard binds specifically, I believe that the most

common way players bind their inventory slots is by binding them to the number keys, so

like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

That is pretty considerable advantage over the way it's done on console for 2 main reasons.

First off, speed.

When each inventory slot is bound to a specific button, you are able to go immediately from

1 slot to another no matter how far apart they are in your inventory.

So, let's say you're healing with a med kit in slot 4 and an enemy suddenly comes out

of nowhere and jumps into your 1x1.

With the press of 1 button you can go from using that med kit in slot 4 to having your

pump shotgun in your hand which was in slot 2.

With a controller however, that same action would instead take multiple button presses.

If you have enough presence to mind in that situation to use L1/LB it would take you 2

button presses: going from slot 4 to slot 3 to slot 2.

However, in my experience.

a lot of players would just use R1/RB in that situation so it would take them 3 button presses:

going from slot 4 to slot 5 to slot 1 and finally to slot 2.

That may not seem like a big deal, but especially in close range fights which is where this

is most critical, those 2 extra button presses are gonna be the difference between you or

your enemy getting that pump shot off first in a lot of cases.

And the second reason why this is important is because of consistency.

If you know every time that slot 4 is the 4 button on your keyboard, you're able to

build muscle memory that allows you to navigate your inventory without looking at it, or even

thinking.

This is especially important in chaotic situations where you don't have time to sit still for

3 seconds and re-arrange your inventory.

Every one on console is so used to setting up their inventory in a specific way that

when you're in a situation where your inventory is something crazy like shotgun - rocket launcher

- healing - AR - healing, it becomes really difficult to navigate.

I actually found a really interesting picture online which offers a potential solution to

this issue.

As you can see, it proposes binding each inventory slot to some combination of L1/LB and R1/RB.

In this example, slot 1 is pressing L1, slot 2 is double tapping L1, slot 3 is double tapping

R1, slot 4 is pressing R1, and slot 5 is pressing R1 and L1 at the same time.

This wouldn't totally fix the speed of switching problem because certain slots would still

take 2 clicks to switch to.

However, it does fix the consistency issue which is a big deal.

And, I'll admit this probably isn't the perfect solution, but, it's just one example of how

the current system could be improved.

And one last thing I just wanna quickly tack on at the end of this video is the sound problem

in Fortnite.

I'll keep it really short because this isn't a problem that's exclusive to console/controller

players, but, apparently the sound quality of the game is worse on console, so, it probably

is a bigger issue on there anyway.

But, I'll give Fortnite props because they really have tried to fix this problem multiple

times.

However, it still is a major weakness of the game.

Footsteps are way too unreliable to be tracked even with a great headset, and so many items/weapons

just have super odd sound levels.

Some things like planes and zombies are way too loud while an item like balloons are totally

silent most of the time.

It's really weird and any kind of improvement would be a huge positive for Fortnite as a

whole.

So I hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you watched the entire thing be sure to

let me know with a comment down in the comment section below.

I wanna know, when you play fortnite are you a console player, mouse and keyboard on pc

player, or controller on pc players?

heck you want, and I will catch you guys next time.

All Might is Gwen Stacy (My Hero Academia's Transition Into the Bronze Age) - Duration: 4:54.

WARNING: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN SPOILERS The references My Hero Academia makes to American comic books are copious and hard to miss.

All Might is almost the complete embodiment of what it means to be a superhero in the

west.

But, the real question here, is a superhero from what age?

You see, despite the resurgence of superheroes in media, comic books have been around for

much longer than that.

I'm sure we've all seen the funny light-hearted covers of days past, the ones where Superman

says something ridiculous or is doing something like eating twice his weight in hamburgers.

These are examples of comics from the Silver Age, where due to backlash against comic books

as well as a questionable claim that they led to juvenile delinquency, stories had to

follow the so-called "Comic Code."

This code included great rules like "In every instance good shall triumph over evil,

and the criminal punished for his misdeeds," and, "... in no case shall evil be presented

alluringly, nor so as to injure the sensibilities of the reader."

This resulted in every Silver Age comic sharing the same campy style—bad guy has wacky idea,

gets close to succeeding, until Superman shows up and defeats him with one of his million

random powers.

It was something more akin to Scooby Doo rather than what we're used to today.

...and All Might is kind of emblematic of the Silver Age.

I know, having to compare him to such a lame era is hard, but I think it's easy to see.

He's kind of lame himself, in a goofy disarming way.

No matter what, you could bet on All Might to save you with a smile, and his reign as

the number one hero was so absolute that it seemed like he could do no wrong.

The way he composes himself as well as the absolute ease in which he dealt with villains

bears little resemblance to the grimdark superheroes of the modern age.

Obviously something changed between the '50s and the comics we have today.

The exact moment where comic books transitioned from the Silver Age to the Bronze Age is disputed,

but more often than not, people point to issue 121 of The Amazing Spider-man.

The story starts off rather typical of Spider-man—Norman Osbourne snaps into being the Green Goblin

and kidnaps Peter's then girlfriend, Gwen Stacy.

He leaves her on top of the George Washington Bridge as he battles Spidey, and over the

course of the fight she comes careening off of the edge.

Peter throws out a quick web and manages to catch her by her legs just in time, stopping

her fall immediately.

He swings through with a trademark quip about how good he is… before noticing her lifeless

body.

It seems as though the sudden stop snapped her neck, killing her instantly.

The Death of Gwen Stacy heralded in an age where superheroes were no longer quasi-demigods

that could do no wrong.

Spider-man's mistake is just that, a mistake, made by someone who could not afford them.

It was the first time a main character had failed in such a disastrous way, as well as

the first time someone so prominent had died.

From here on, comic book stories would feature almost the antithesis of what the Comic Code

20 years prior was all about—stories with moral ambiguity, tragedies, and real-world

issues.

They were no longer a comforting place to turn to where good always triumphs over evil.

For me, the most captivating part of the All Might versus All-for-One fight was never the

fight itself.

It was being able to witness My Hero Academia's very own Death of Gwen Stacy.

With All Might's Symbol of Peace being snuffed out, and nobody capable of taking up the mantle,

we are at a very interesting precipice in HeroAca's story.

I'm not a source reader, so I could be completely wrong, but I'm looking forward to how HeroAca

handles this change—anime-only watchers got a sneak peak by the way of Bakugou.

Horikoshi hasn't hidden his love of Spider-man.

In addition to direct references, including this manga cover, Deku and Peter share a lot

of similarities.

Stan Lee wrote Spider-man at a time where most superheroes were entirely unrelatable

demigods, whether that be due to being a literal alien, or a wealthy American playboy by day,

and vigilante powerhouse by night.

In contrast, Spider-man was a mousy teenager, roped into his situation by mere chance.

Deku's overwhelming urge to chase after Kacchan despite being quirkless captures the

spirit of the comic well, and an underlying theme of Spider-man is guilt—which I can't

wait to see HeroAca explore.

Thanks for watching, and be sure to like and subscribe for more content.

I must've stuttered.

Anthem Demo: Is It Worth Playing? Demo Review [SnapShot] - Duration: 5:01.

this is a slightly new format – a 1st Impression series called SnapShot

quicker, smaller, more bite-sizey videos about stuff that I normally wouldn't cover in the PC-FPS-game kinda sphere but that are interesting all the same and are worth talking about

So first up we have Anthem's VIP Demo. I've played a bunch over the last couple days, and with the free Open Demo next weekend let's answer that all important question

is it worth downloading and playing?

Well before I jumped in I saw some people streaming and I wasn't overly optimistic. Straight out of the gate the narrow FOV (field of view)

spoils the viewing experience for me – it's a very console-y view of the world that's unsuited to PC gaming where the player is so much closer to the screen.

It's not a game that reveals itself well while you're watching over someone elses electronic shoulder.

Also the gameplay is reminiscent of titles such as Warframe or Destiny – and although I've enjoyed both of those (to differing amounts, I must say)

it looks like an evolutionary step rather than some new never-experienced-before ga ming slate-cleaner. In fact, with the Javelin mechanical suits it almost has a whiff of that highly regarded Titanfall 2 as well.

Once I had played for a few hours though I was much more convinced. That toilet-roll-vision field-of-view is less of an issue when you are controlling the camera but it certainly still needs looking at for PC.

The actual experience of killing mobs – the way the weapons feel, the way the abilities feel, the feedback on doing damage and getting kills is really quite fun and rewarding.

The abilities especially seem to have a shorter cool-down than u might imagine so they always seem to be up and ready for use

so battles turn into almost a super-hero fantasy of flying about, massive explosions and combat and a huge power-fantasy – it's a LOT more fun than it looks watching on-stream.

One of the main Anthem draws are the suits themselves – basically the class system of the game – and the flying in-particular.

The controls for the flying I found to be initially odd and eventually after some practise odd-but-managable.

That narrow FoV rears its head here too, if your character is bumping objects while flying that camera swings around and actually gave me motion-sickness for the 1st time I can remember in any PC game.

The flying is core to the experience of the game though – it lets you access one of the game's MASSIVE strengths and that's the gloriously beautiful environment that all the action inhabits.

If you want to point to an area where Anthem is head and shoulders above rivals in similar genres you'd say visuals was a BIG WIN for Anthem.

Sound design too is also worthy of note – there's lots of depth and variety to weapon, abilities, enemies and so on.

If someone does something cool there's normally a seismic audio que to let you know about it.

he weapon noise doesn't have that intimacy of a battlefield title – but the combination of the sound effects and music are accomplished and polished to high-enough level

to give the game a genuine cinematic feel, I'd advise playing with some decent hifi headphones if you can.

Performance though isn't one of the game's strong suits though. I know my machine isn't exactly cutting edge now but it really did struggle to maintain 60fps

even within the safe-zone NPC-only "Fort" parts of the game. I've seen others with higher spec machines not have tremendous frame-rates either,

but I certainly found it to be playable after tweaking some settings.

So, to answer that headline question – the Anthem Demo, is it worth playing?

I'd say that if you like these types of games: PvE shooters, you enjoyed Warframe or Destiny or even Titanfall- i'd actually widen that to include Path Of Exile and Diablo 3 as well.

I'd 100% recommend you download the demo this week from Origin (you can pre-download it now, it's about 50GB) and try it out for yourself,

don't just judge it based of watching others play

I actually found the demo to be pleasantly more difficult than I imagined too – I got a genuine feeling of accomplishment from only-just struggling to beat some of the boss-like enemies in the game.

There's not a lot of face-tanking and holding the mouse button down – you're certainly kept busy.

The demo is basically 3 story missions, free-roam and some other stuff, it's not a huge amount of content you'll be grinding for days, but it'll take u a few hours to get through it all.

As for the final game? Well this is a demo with demo-level rewards, costs, levelling and so on. We also don't know what the end-game looks like either.

I'd look on this Demo as you deciding whether you like the weapon-feel, the different Javelins, the general play-style. Actual judgment on the final releasing game – and whether things like the FoV adjustment are actually implemented – are a job for release reviews.

I have a bunch of other things to say about Anthem but I want to exercise brevity not shown in my other videos and keep this succinct – maybe of you fine people want to hear more I'll do another video.

All the usual stuff, press subscribe, press the thumb – thank you all for watching, I'll see you next time, take care!

Arsenal target Nicolas Pepe reveals that Chelsea is the "only club in England that I would dream to - Duration: 2:51.

An old video that has resurfaced online shows that Chelsea could be set to beat rivals Arsenal to the signing of Lille's standout star, Nicolas Pepe

According to The Sun, a host of Europe's elite clubs are in the battle for the Ivorian's signing

Chelsea, as well long-time admirers Arsenal are in the race for the forward's signature

The report also highlights that Tottenham are interested in Pepe and that the attacker is on Barcelona's seven-man shortlist to replace Luis Suarez

The Ivorian has been of the standout stars across Europe this season, Pepe has contributed a goal per game in Ligue 1 this season

The 23-year-old has 15 goals and 7 assists to his name from 22 games, with 16 games left to play the ace's stats for the season could be jaw-dropping

There's no doubt that that a big club will come calling to Lille for Pepe's services in the summer if his form is even half as good as it has been

A video from April 2017 has gathered some traction on social media in the last day or so, it shows Pepe when he was a guest on French television channel TeleFoot

At the time the then 21-year-old was playing for Angers and he was questioned about the possibility of moving to the Premier League, here's what he had to say about a 'dream' move to Chelsea: Back in April 2017, Nicolas Pépé (currently Lille player, at that time Angers player), expressed his 'dreams' of signing for Chelsea one day

Saying 'it's the only club in England that I would sign for' ?? @NicolasPepe19 pic

twitter.com/LShpWwYtri  — Dumi Drexel (@dumidrexel) January 26, 2019    Chelsea fans may have lost patience with Willian but if they sit tight Nicolas Pepe could be another right-wing option for them in the summer, the Blues' squad will already be bolstered once Christian Pulisic joins

The likes of Pepe, Pulisic and Hazard could work behind Gonzalo Higuain next season- should his initial six-month stay in West London turn out to be successful

Maurizio Sarri will find it hard to accommodate all these attackers next season.

What is Upselling? How does it work? Alok Kejriwal explains the concept in the #Dhandhekibaat series - Duration: 4:26.

Welcome to Dhandhe Ki Baat.

This is Alok Kejriwal.

Today we are going to talk about the alphabet 'U' and I have chosen Upselling.

Selling has been done but how to take it up that is what we are going to talk about.

What is upselling?

I will tell you a story.

Many years back, we had booked ourselves for a very beautiful, exotic Norwegian cruise.

We were going to all the Norwegian countries and the booking turned

out to be quite heavy on my pocket.

When we were all set and all the bookings were done, we were about to get up from the

agent's office after finishing the deal when the agent said, "Sir, one last thing."

So we said, "Yeah sure."

He said, "Suppose, God forbid, if you are unable to take this cruise then you will lose a lot

of money." We suddenly lost heart. By God, we never thought of it.

It was so expensive for 4 of us as a family.

Then he saw our face and he said, "No no Sir, don't worry.

I have a remedy for that also.

There is a small insurance for this cruise wherein you will receive your money back if

you are unable to take the cruise.

So, I suggest you take this."What a beautiful example of an upsell.

No one in their right mind would say no.

What did he do?

What was the upsell?

First, he extracted so much money out of me, after that he made me happy, then he scared

me and said that if you take this you will have no need to fear.

Such a beautiful example!

So, I just started with an example of a great concept of upselling.

Now, why is upselling important?

It's important for three reasons.

Firstly, the regular work that you are doing diminishes gradually.

Margins reduce.

Competition arises.

You can't always increase prices or decrease the cost to be competitive.

So, you have to think of some way to increase your margin.

And, that is a great example of upselling.

Take a look at the economy airlines or regular airlines, one thing is that they sell the

business class and first class.

That is a regular sale.

But, so often when you are checking-in, the lady says, "Sir, only for so much you can

upgrade to the X-Class."

Even when you are sitting in the plane, they now tell you, "Only for this amount of money

you can upgrade."

They are upselling.

Now, if a really obnoxious person is sitting to next to you who is eating your head, you

say, "I can spend Rs. 5000 and upsell and go ahead."

This is a great example.

So, one is to increase revenue.

What is the second?

The second is, sometimes, sampling.

You know, you have a great business.

You have different products in your business.

How do you make it available to your customers without giving it free?

Take Dominos for example, when they introduced their cheese garlic sticks, when they introduced

their dessert, I remember, it used to be given away at a very nominal price.

Rs. X, you will receive this, Rs. Y you will receive this.

Almost on the phone we used to be like give it , we don't care.

We are not dying here for a mere Rs.10-20.

They were upselling.

They were giving you something which now you want and you start to order.

The third - this is going to shock you.

Upselling in itself is a business, Boss.

In our mobile games, the ones we make are are absolutely free.

100% free.

No cost.

Download for free, play for free.

Then, who will fill our pockets?

How will we become rich?

It is the act of upselling.

So, what we do is, after the consumer plays the game, a lot of ads appear.

The person gets really irritated.

We say, "Sir, pay 99 cents and get rid of ads."

Then, we provide him with only one bad car.

The poor thing is very unhappy with the bad car.

So, we give him an offer to buy better cars and we keep upselling.

Upselling becomes our business module.

So, please apply the concept, if you haven't already, to your business even to your profession.

Upsell yourself.

If you are a professional, learn some skills and offer those.

You know, if you are a lawyer, say, "I also do these things."

You can upsell anything and everything.

And, apply it in a way that you see you can enhance not just your income but also the

way you evolve because upselling is almost like a way of life.

You need to keep getting better, faster, higher and yet in a nice kind of non-cheating way.

So, think of upselling.

Thank you for watching Dhandhe Ki Baat.

BBC publish text messages between Emiliano Sala and agent that booked flight - Duration: 5:05.

The world of football is still praying that miraculous news over Emiliano Sala will soon emerge

The Argentine striker went missing earlier this week, just days after becoming Cardiff City's new record signing

Sala was travelling from France to Cardiff when the plane he was travelling on disappeared over the English Channel

Authorities have stated that the likelihood of the aircraft occupants surviving the incident are "extremely remote"

However, Sala's sister Romina - along with a host of high-profile footballers including Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero - have pleaded for rescuers to continue searching after Guernsey Police ended the search for the missing plane on Thursday

Sala's agent Willie McKay has now confirmed that he arranged the flight from Nantes but says he was not involved in selecting the plane or pilot, David Ibbotson

McKay has now revealed text messages with Sala discussing flight arrangements, and the full transcript has been published by BBC Sport

McKay claims Cardiff knew of the arrangements that were made, and says his two sons had a conversation with Sala about the difficulties of flying to Nantes by commercial airline

McKay said: "With regards to the booking of the flight we contacted Mr David Henderson, who has flown us and many of our players all over Europe on countless occasions

"We had no involvement in selecting a plane or a pilot and we also wish to make clear again we do not own the plane that Emiliano flew on

"  The agent also says he has met Sala's friends and family to "give them an understanding of how Emiliano came to be on that plane"

He added: "The tragic events that have unfolded have shocked us all." Full text message exchange, per BBC  The messages between Jack McKay, Willie's son and Cardiff City player, and Sala have been translated from French

Friday, 18 January  7:43pm - Jack McKay: "My dad has told me that you are going home tomorrow

He could organise a plane to take you direct to Nantes and to come back on Monday, at a time that suits you, so you can get to training on Tuesday

"  7:51pm-Emiliano Sala: "Ah that is great. I was just in the middle of checking if there are some flights to get to Nantes tomorrow

"  7:56pm-McKay: "He said he could organise a plane that would go direct to Nantes

"  7:56pm- Sala: "How much will it cost?"  7:56pm-McKay: "Nothing. He said if you help me to score goals it's nothing

"  7:59pm-Sala: "Hahaha with pleasure."  8:00pm- Sala: "We are going to score lots of goals

"  8:01pm - Sala: "I want to leave tomorrow for Nantes at around 11am and come back on Monday night around 9pm to Cardiff if that is possible

"  8:05pm -McKay: "Good. I'll send a message when that's sorted."  Sunday, 20 January  5:00pm - McKay: "Hi there is it possible you could come back at seven in the evening on Monday night? Just because the pilot has to get home in the north after he gets to Cardiff

"  5:01pm - Sala: "Hi, Half past seven would be possible."  5:03pm - McKay: "Yes that's good

"  5:05pm -Sala: "[PICTURE OF LUGGAGE] Can you ask if I can bring this on the plane?"  5:06pm -McKay: "Good yeah

"  5:07pm - Sala: "But is that going to be OK for the plane?"  McKay: "Yes there is space on the plane for your luggage

"  5:12pm - Sala: "OK."  Monday, 21 January  4:16pm - McKay: "I'm going to call in a moment

"  4.23pm - McKay: "He said that it is the same company."  4.27pm - Sala: "OK thanks

Mohamed Salah diving criticism is unbelievable — and slightly sinister - Duration: 4:27.

I was never one for diving — if I had a chance to get a shot off, I'd always take it

Yet, I've been shaking my head in disbelief at the criticism aimed at Mohamed Salah in recent weeks for what people have been particularly eager to call cheating

It's been sustained and hostile, and I'm wondering why.  Why it's been much worse than that aimed at Harry Kane this season, for instance, or in the past say Michael Owen or David Beckham (and I'm not singling them out!)

We have to be very careful as football fans. We need to stop and think about whether Salah is being targeted for where he comes from and who he is

It seems like stereotyping, and possibly because he's an overseas player.  If that is the case, it's totally unacceptable

Read More Mohamed Salah returns to social media - and Liverpool star's absence is explained  I'm not condoning diving

I genuinely never did it, even if people still say I dived in that incident with David Seaman when I told the ref it wasn't a pen

I didn't – he didn't touch me, but if I hadn't jumped, one of us would have got hurt

There was a time when I was booked for diving, playing at City, and, honestly, I was raging at the time

It still makes me upset to think back on it. Yet the game has changed.  Yes, there have been times when Salah has gone over a bit theatrically, sometimes he may have gone down a bit easily

Two things.  One, who doesn't now?  Two, he's almost always been kicked.  In fact, he has been kicked mercilessly for 18 months

And if he doesn't go down in a way which let's the ref see he's been kicked, then will be get the decision? No chance

No free-kick.  Soon after, goes through again, gets pulled back slightly. What does he do? Of course, he goes down, because otherwise he knows if he tries to get a shot off and fails, he gets nothing again

It is not as simple as people are making out.  If Salah were this massive cheat people seem to be trying to portray him as, why was the penalty he converted against Newcastle at the end of December the first awarded for Liverpool at Anfield in 18 months?  Think about that

In that time, he's scored almost 50 league goals, and not one until this past Boxing Day was a penalty in a home game

But how many should he have had before that but wasn't given because he didn't make it clear he'd been kicked?  Since then, the others have looked pretty clear, even if he was a bit exaggerated in going down

Even the one not given against Palace last weekend — no doubt there was contact, and other strikers would have got the decision

Yes, times have changed from when I hated the idea of going down.  But, as for the suspicion and stereotyping of overseas players, maybe they haven't changed enough
