[Music] Hello Everyone!
It's Andrea and welcome to my January Bullet Journal setup.
All supplies I use will be listed in the description box below.
I really quite enjoyed all the black and white I used for the setup and decided to carry
it on through to January in this space theme.
I started by outlining all of the fine details of the space station.
I wanted to keep the majority of the page white so the moon is covering the bottom two
thirds.
My theme color for this month is going to be grey.
I used this color for all the shading on the moon and space station.
When I colored in the background I carefully went around all the edge parts first.
I also used a blank piece of paper as to not color all over the sides of the book.
I was considering putting the title on the moon as footprints, but then I chose to write
it in the dark space above.
I wanted the letters to be white so I outlined everything first.
The year's numbers are going to be the constellations under the title.
Since I had planned out how every number was going to look I colored around each star.
I did this throughout the entire book and I really should have just colored in the background
and THEN added the constellation words.
But I was committed to draw around EVERY SINGLE STAR.
FYI - This took forever.
And because the black is just a little streaky with only one layer, I went over this again.
I'll be doing this for everything that is black.
I had done some black felt tests and chose the Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen.
I explained more of this in the setup video which I will link below if you would like
to watch it.
Then I went over those stars with the white gelly roll pen.
My new best friend this year!
I also added a bunch of stars everywhere else.
First I started with the larger ones, then I added a whole bunch of tiny ones by just
lightly touching the pen to the page.
I finished my constellations by drawing in the two thousand and nineteen.
I started to divide my Calendar Page into individual boxes.
Each box is six squares by six squares.
I really love having my ruler back.
But I'm not using it as much as I would have before since last year's challenge
for me was to not use it for one year.
And I gotta say I really quite enjoyed the freeness of it.
Everything wasn't perfectly straight and had its own look of "roughness" I guess.
I kind of really grew to like it.
I drew the moon on the lower right side behind a few of the boxes.
Those boxes will just be "floating" there.
Then I started the tedious task of outlining all those stars again.
Yeah, I know.
I should have just colored in the whole background and added the stars after.
But I had already planned out all these pages and didn't want to find the correct spacing
for all the letters again.
Once again I went around all the edges first.
But we'll skip past that because it's probably boring, and if I showed you everything,
we'd be here all day!
And yes everything got colored in twice.
Then I went over all those stars with my white gelly roll pen.
I connected all the constellations and even added my new logo, since it's a shooting
star and all.
Then I added lots more stars by dotting the pages everywhere.
I even added them to the tiny gaps between the boxes.
Now they really look like they're floating in space.
I also colored in my page number on the one side that got covered with in black background.
I used the grey to give the boxes over the moon a drop shadow.
That floating illusion is looking better and better.
Then I shaded the moon and the craters.
I wrote the days of the week in white along the top then I numbered all the boxes.
I continued using the tall font from before in my 2019 setup.
My mood tracker is going to be on a white page even though I think it would have looked
better on a black page.
I wrote the title at the top then marked all the invisible edges of the days of the month.
Each box is four squares by four squares.
Then I drew little constellation moods at the bottom.
Now you see why this would have looked better on a black background.
Oh well, if you love this mood tracker and decide to use it you could put it on a black
background.
I numbered each square in the bottom corner.
For my Habit Tracker I really wanted to incorporate some planets.
I drew my title planet then five planets, which will be my habits, and gave each one
a giant ring around the outside.
The ring will get divided into thirty-one sections for all the days of the month.
The planets on the inside where all different sizes and I gave them swirls like on the gas
giant Jupiter.
I divided all the rings into thirty-one sections.
Then I added all the day numbers inside all those sections.
A little tedious I know and I kept having to rotate the book.
Sorry if it makes you dizzy.
Then back to coloring in.
I tried to keep the line as close to the center of the book as possible without touching the
mood tracker page.
I carefully outlined around all the planets and their rings.
Then I could scribble wildly around it.
This page went faster because I didn't have any stars to go around.
So this is one layer.
And this is two.
Much nicer I do have to say.
Time to start giving the background some life.
Strange how a bunch of small white dots make all the difference.
Back to outlining dots again.
My Polaroid memories page had been so much fun last year.
Makes you actually have to find pictures you like.
I finally got an instant camera last year but it's the square one.
I was actually making my own Polaroids with Photoshop and then just printing them out.
I was considering doing a page with two spaces for the square photos but decided I really
liked my home-made minis better.
So no you don't always have to have Polaroids.
You can even collage a bunch of pictures to this page.
The title became the constellations and then, you guessed it, more stars!
I needed to keep the Brain Dump page mostly white since I'm going to need to be able
to write on it, so I put the title in a box at the top.
I also put a box around the entire page because I still wanted to have the black background.
I wanted these two pages to kind of flow into each other so on the left side I drew a rocket
ship taking off.
Then I realized I should have continued the blast cloud onto the other page.
Coloring in again.
My scrap piece of paper is looking pretty streaky.
At times I thought I messed up a page because I saw the lines on the paper and not the book.
Time for stars again.
I've never used this gelly roll pen that much before.
What's your favorite white pen?
I found this pen did not work on some of my black felts.
So definitely test out combinations if you want to do a black and white theme.
Time to shade everything with the grey.
It really brings it to life.
My Exercise Tracker has been barren for the last few months.
Especially after the holidays I really need to get back into that.
Once again I'm outlining all the stars.
But the black background is only the top portion here.
By the end of this setup my hand was sore from all the outlining and coloring.
Even though the coloring is quite relaxing, when I'm filming there is always this pressure
to get things done quickly.
I was really quite surprised that I never colored over any of these stars.
I wrote exercise and description on one side, filled in pounds/minutes, reps and sets.
Each box has enough space to do each exercise six times.
Then colored in every other row with the grey marker and color coded the days of the week.
I repeated this on the next page.
For my weekly I started by outlining all my stars again.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking.
I actually used a real constellation this time for behind the meal section.
Can you guess which one?
I was totally a nerd in high school and loved space.
I remember when I first learned about planets and stars and constellations.
I had this book with all the constellations in it.
I learned them all before I could actually see them since I was waiting for a clear night.
But once it was clear and I saw them for real (now knowing what they were) it made me feel
so small.
It's strange.
I knew there were stars before, but now being able to match constellations in the sky.
That was just something else for me.
That there is so much out there that we don't even know.
Crazy?
So I usually use the same style of days of the week and decided this time to make them
tall and skinny.
I wrote the days of the week inside each box along with a "to do" section.
Then I wrote the numbers in the tall font in the bottom corners of every box.
My water tracker will be these drops of water in that top border section.
I wanted to incorporate them right into the days of the week.
And I'll write the weather and my sleep in that bottom section.
I also used the hatched drop shadow border around the boxes.
Then it was time to color in again.
I may have to use this black and white theme again sometime this year.
I really quite enjoyed it.
And even though I'm still adding a lot of elements to every page it still feels very
clean and simplistic to me.
I may want to try an absolute minimalistic design for all of you who don't have as
much time for a setup.
I have December thirty-first to January sixth as the constellations.
Then my one real constellation.
Did you figure out which one it is?
It's Orion.
It was one of my favorite ones to look at when I was younger.
Time for stars!
Lots of stars!
Then I added the fine line details to all the lettering.
I also added a few stripes of grey to the tops and bottoms of all the days of the week.
Lastly was to shade in the moon and give the meal tracker a drop shadow.
Then I went back and colored in all the January items from the setup.
I really hope you enjoyed this month's theme as much as I have and I hope I may have inspired
you to just go for it and start Bullet Journaling.
I know there are tons of videos on YouTube to help with inspiration, but always remember
that it all started with just a plain notebook and a pen.
