but as well as political crisis has led to some diplomatic tensions as many

nations are weighing in on the Latin American countries turmoil Arno Adam has

more more than a dozen South American African and Western nations have joined

the United States and supporting opposition leader Huang guardo as

interim president Washington is also stepping up pressure on sitting

president Nicolas Maduro to step down it is seeking to ensure Venezuelan oil

revenue goes to guardo in a bid to drain money from the government which is

already struggling under an unprecedented economic meltdown however

US Secretary of State might compare said Washington would provide humanitarian

aid to struggling Venezuelans today I'm announcing that the United States is

ready to provide more than 20 million in humanitarian assistance to the people of

Venezuela these funds would help them cope with the severe food food in

medicine shortages and hired other dire impacts of their country's political and

economic crisis Russia one of Venezuela's closest allies in the region

condemned foreign powers for backing the opposition leader Moscow s foreign

minister warned such a move would deepen Venezuela's crisis the fact that the

United States and a number of other countries

first of all regional ones immediately recognized the new self-proclaimed

interim president only means that they have directly participated in an

artificial creation of dual power in Venezuela which is fraught with chaos

and a serious of destabilization of domestic political situation Kremlin

spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said the u.s. move violated international law

China Turkey and Syria meanwhile have all joined Russia in expressing their

support for president Maduro he also has the backing of the country's military

which has pledged his loyalty to the socialist leader despite the support

Maduro is still under extreme pressure to cede power as the majority of

Venezuelans are calling for him to step down no Adam Arirang news

U.S. initially asked Seoul for 10-year agreement on defense cost sharing - Duration: 0:55.

Turning to Seoul and Washington's ongoing negotiations on defense cost sharing.

We previously reported the U.S. asked for the deal to be renewed EVERY year.

But according to sources, they initially asked for a 10-year agreement.

Seoul's first suggestion was 3 years,... and the two sides eventually agreed to go with

the usual 5 years of validity at their 9th round of discussions.

But at the 10th session, Washington's delegation laid out its new order from the "top" of 1

year.

South Korea reportedly rejected the proposal as it would be time consuming and inefficient.

America also suggested setting the annual rate of increase to 7-percent.

A significant spike, considering how the previous deal had a ceiling of 4-percent even when

taking into account inflation.

Seoul reportedly said that such a high rate is unacceptable.

The long overdue agreement is still in the works, with the main point of contention being

the overall amount.

Bizarre Mike Pence Venezuela Broadcast | U.S Encourages Coup during Mike Pence Venezuela Broadcast - Duration: 16:46.

I'm sure most people are aware of this but Mike Pence

he put up this really really weird awkward video

it's weird very weird broadcast of him speaking in Spanish well no he wasn't

speaking in Spanish he was English at best speaking in Spanish at best hola

I'm Mike Pence and he was talking about the I guess he was encouraging the

people of Venezuela to she basically overthrow their government I mean I see

I mean that's what he used yeah I'm just encouraging him to overthrow their

government very friendly failed like threat or suggestion I me expressed the

unwavering support of the United States as you the people of Venezuela raise

your voices in a call for freedom Jin I mean it was a it was an encouragement it

was it hey guys go kill your government will we have him back you could put

whoever you want as dictator if in Isleta I don't know they want guado

everyone thought oh yeah they want they're recognizing him as the president

and you know like think of the nerve on that imagine any country imagine if like

France um said we don't recognize Donald Trump as president of the United States

I'm ready sure they said that at some point Nancy Pelosi as a president of the

United States cuz that's equivalent yeah if another country said if they are like

we don't recognize Trump we recognize Nancy Pelosi Pelosi the Speaker of the

House that would be the exact equivalent of what we just did if in as way love we

would be furious I mean you give so you put sanctions on them like they wouldn't

fucking believe yeah so so I got a question for you is this like this is

the first time the US has launched a like basically encouraged or launched a

coup in Venezuela or is this like the first time that we're doing something

like that because I know that Venezuela has been going through some some tough

times like what's what's the deal with this so the US has had probably it'd be

a shorter list to name the countries in South America that we haven't encouraged

or been on the side of a coup it'll be a shorter list I'm pretty much

every single country in South America we have we have had we have backed one side

or another and at the very least in a civil war and a coup in a failed coup

almost every single country in South America has been has been under the the

Eye of Sauron from the White House and the foreign policy establishment

Venezuela is a I guess is a special case this all really started with the Bush

administration the Bush administration try to get Hugo Chaves Chaves they try

to encourage a coup on him it didn't end up working out Hugo Chavez stayed in

power but it's been the policy of the White House to be very aggressive to

that regime because it's still it's like basically the same regime um just

different face it's just a different face like just it's it's the same

socialist regime that they have so this isn't surprising it's a set it's the

second time in the past 15 16 years that we try to encourage coup and it I mean

we'll see what happens really I I mean don't know I don't know if they're going

to be successful or not but Venezuela has recently cut ties diplomatic ties I

didn't know that we they had diplomatic ties with I might even be tagged with

never ever I know but I honestly didn't think we had diplomatic ties with in as

well Venezuela's yeah allied with North Korea

before yeah before before we opened up you know communications with them

they're really happy Derek you country voice every we have envoys everywhere

with the exception of probably Iran Iran and and North Korea but we've got we've

got I'm always everywhere so I'm not surprised that we had them I'm

definitely not surprised that the current president what's his face from

Venezuela expelled them all I think he said he gave him like 72 hours to leave

I don't blame him I mean I I can't speak much to his policy or like what's going

on in Venezuela but like all I keep thinking about is like if

somebody some country did that shit to us we would not be happy not at all

no we wouldn't like what why why why is this happening I mean like the the

elephant in the room is like for those who don't know Venezuela has a bunch of

oil right so is this like Saddam Hussein 2.0 where we're just going after the oil

or you know is it because they're socialist and we just don't like that

you don't like their socialism what's why why are we doing this no I don't

think so I don't even really think that Saddam Hussein was about oil III don't

think that really any of the regime changes that we participated and we're

about oil at all I think it's more just about American hegemon hegemony you know

what I mean like I don't think it was I don't think at the end of the day it's a

lot cheaper to buy oil than steel oil like it would be a loan we produce more

oil we produce more oil than everyone so we produce more oil and our oil experts

all come from most of them come from from Canada anyway so yeah in Canada and

Mexico so we're not really buying oil from Venezuela and I don't think the US

has an interest in buying oil from Venezuela so I don't really think I has

anything to do with oil and that's like a that's a common narrative that comes

around when he especially in terms of the Middle East everyone's like oh it's

because of oil like I hear people who are blaming like the Syria situation on

oil I mean news guys serious hype line issue

you know it's the pipeline issue but there's a lot of things that go into it

of course that the pipeline and I've actually talked about this narrative

light a lot and I've read I've kind of used this narrative to for my arguments

on Syria however it's not the only thing Syria doesn't really produce oil they

produce a little bit of oil in the northern part of the country really

where the Kurds are but they really just produce enough oil to to to supply their

own energy sector rather than to export it and they're not major oil producers

so I like just looking at that I think it's a lot what have a lot more to do

with our allies like what you know what the the foreign policy

allies as well as just American power in those regions usually the dictators that

we pick we pick on for regime change or just dictators that don't who who do not

cooperate with the American Empire I guess that would be the easiest way to

say it so no I don't think it's I don't think it is because of oil at all I just

think it's because an unfriendly regime and I think the issue is like the real

issue is when you do things like this when you when you publicly come out and

you try to encourage a civil war because that's what they were doing yes when

you're doing cookies and losers yeah you're picking winners and losers and

you're trying to encourage a civil war um just to give you a background on the

economic situation in Venezuela I mean it's very bad right now to socialist

country where they the living standard is very low a couple of a couple of

months ago I mean there's all these types of stories about people eating

their dogs and stuff like that right so it's not really good situation

economically for them however it does not mean that the US should be backing

or trying to encourage violence in the country because that's what it was I

mean that's I hate the word dog whistle but that was not just a dog whistle that

was a blow horn - yeah saying hey like one side or this side right here we have

your back just kill that guy we have your back

he'll kill that guy yeah we yeah that's definitely say go kill that guy but they

definitely said we support you not the other guy and you know this is like like

our conversation on on like inflammatory rhetoric it's you know like they might

not explicitly be saying go kill a bunch of people or go start a a war but it you

know we'll see what happens but you know you keep saying shit like that keep

doing shit like that and something's gonna pop off you know well the issue is

I think the real issue is those that when you do this when you start

encouraging when you pick a civil side on the Civil War when you pick a certain

faction in the government especially if those people are not in power then what

you're doing is that you're giving the actual government an excuse to crack

down on political discourse that's right yeah that's like the real problem

because now that the I don't know why the Maduro

yeah the Nicolas Maduro situation so now Maduro has an extra reason to crack down

on his political opponents so you're gonna see people being thrown in jail

over the next couple of weeks you're gonna probably see a lot of a lot of

violence coming from the government in order to crack down a potential coup you

know and violent suppression of you have marches and and and things like that

yeah so I think that's what we're gonna see in the future for for Venezuela just

more instability in that region it kind of reminds me like for example when era

want there's a rumor about erdowan the president turkey the river Getti

rumors about her daughter's baby there's many very strange rumors about him but

there's one rumor one conspiracy I don't have the documents to prove this but

there is a conspiracy Miz right here for everyone who's listening and watching if

you don't know who her Dewan is dawuan is the president of Turkey a couple

years ago there was an attempt on his life there was a military coup to

overturn or to change the regime internally and hurt Awan he escaped with

his life he suppressed the regime and he kept his power and he over the next

couple years he there was a lot of crackdown in a political system a lot of

as a political opponent or thought in jail a lot of hid a lot of dissident

journalists were put in jail basically anyone he didn't like was put and thrown

in jail right now they're actually trying to extradite Cantor from the

Knicks a player in the Knicks because his fuck because he's very critical of

the government yeah his father was actually thrown in jail his parents were

thrown in jail because they were they were potential dissidents to the to the

government because Turkey also want like some Imam in Pennsylvania that we have

that like escaped from Turkey yeah then they tried kidnapping this dude like a

bunch of times yeah it's a crazy it's a weird story I don't actually have the

details on that but they did try to do something like that yeah yeah I remember

that those crazy but enos Cantor on the Knicks the

his parents are he's from Turkey he's a European player but he's been in this

country since he was in college he played for Duke but he was he wasn't

eligible when he played for Duke so he never actually played for Duke he just

wore the uniform but he was a pro after his freshman year anyway but they're

trying to extradite him back to the country so they could throw him in jail

and the other day this is only a couple days ago there was a Knicks game in

London and eNOS Kanter refused to go to the game because he feared that he would

be assassinated if he went to London oh shit

shit that's crazy yeah he's like I can't go can't even let him play ball like

come on that's fucked up it's a wild situation but back to Venezuela it's um

it I don't know what's gonna happen I can't tell you I don't really have any

predictive capabilities right now I'm a little tired but I mean let's hope for

the best let's open a bet let's hope for the best

I think there's gonna be violence on the sides of pa'dar oh just put down his

political rivals now it will just give him the perfect pretext to do so so I

think that's what we're gonna see metal start the vicious cycle you know the

other side will then take up arms because look at vicious Maduro cracking

down violently on his people so yeah you know you know somebody told that to

trump like someone was like Trump you got like pump Heil was probably bucking

Trump over this he was like you gotta go you gotta go say something you gotta go

say something you know say something Spanish maybe get you know get on the

peoples good side showing me know little Spanish and he was like and my you don't

do anything you just do it Mikey speak Spanish right

si yo hablo espanol good enough go Michael said I don't feel like it let's

start a Kickstarter um to like help Mike pants learn Spanish it would probably do

really well get him some Spanish lessons maybe like buy a module lingo premium

account or some shit rosetta stone do you think that the the

foreign-policy establishment has like they had an epiphany where they were

like what are we doing guys what are we doing why are we trying to always

overthrow these dictators and free these brown people in the Middle East when we

should be doing it in our own backyard like we used to it seems like that's the

play there's so many Brown people that need to be liberated in our own backyard

in South America why are we in the Middle East

yeah well pulling out of Syria and going into Venezuela sounds like that's the

that sounds plausible listen we're looking to do regime change but we're

gonna keep it in the family for now on America's only because that's what we

used to do I mean we I mean if you look at all the countries that we facilitated

some type of coup or regime change in South America like I said before you can

name more country you can name it be easier to list the countries that we

haven't tried to facilitate a regime change in like Brazil Chile Argentina

Guatemala Panama Venezuela every country all of them Guatemala I think I said it

hwadam all already but every country and basically every single country in South

America we tried at one time or another over the past 70 years over past 100

years really we try to facilitate some type of regime change in almost every

single one of those countries and we've succeeded many times many times so we're

gonna keep it we're going back oh god that's what Trump meant he said let's

make America great again let's do throwback lets stop may stop be

America's let's stop overthrowing dictators in the Middle East let's stop

let's stop freeing brown people in the Middle East like they read scribbly we

should be free we should be free and brown people in our own hemisphere who

scuse us who use the alphabet who use letters not scribble e they'll really

succeed in their Catholic tone they're Christians reason number 47 while that

why this episode won't be monetized right there

why what are they just cringe-worthy borderline racist I

don't know well you know what good thing I am I'm covered with you Danny because

you covers that way on the show you're on the side because you are both you are

for everyone who doesn't know if you're wondering why Danny is so exotic looking

it's not because he's Dothraki and dresses like one piece he's Arabic he's

instance Palestinian yeah Palestinian and and Puerto Rican yeah so he's

thought no one can ever I had Danny is strategically placed here to make sure

that I never called a a bigoted towards Latino people or Everett people cuz he's

both we're covered while we need all we need I'm not gonna go any further on

this jug let's talk about the next thing I know you wanted to talk about one more

U.S. seeking to drain money from Maduro's government - Duration: 2:04.

Many nations are weighing in on Venezuela's political crisis, which has led to some diplomatic

tensions.

For more on this and other news around the world we turn to our Ro Aram…

Aram… what's the latest?

Well Mark…

The U.S. is backing the country's opposition leader Juan Guaido, who has declared himself

interim president.

Washington is also seeking to ensure that Venezuelan oil revenue goes to Guaido in a

bid to drain money from the increasingly isolated President Nicolas Maduro.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also said the U.S. would provide humanitarian aid to struggling

Venezuelans.

"Today I'm announcing that the United States is ready to provide more than 20 million in

humanitarian assistance to the people of Venezuela.

These funds are to help them cope with a severe food.

Food and medicine shortages and other dire impacts of their country's political and economic

crisis.

Several South American, African and Western nations have joined the U.S. in supporting

Guaido as interim president.

Russia, one of Venezuela's closest allies in the region, condemned foreign powers for

backing the opposition leader.

Russia's foreign minister warned such a move would make things worse in Venezuela.

"The fact that the United States and a number of other countries, first of all regional

ones, immediately recognised the new self-proclaimed interim president only means that they have

directly participated in an artificial creation of dual power (in Venezuela) which is fraught

with chaos and a serious destabilisation of domestic political situation."

Mexico, Bolivia, Cuba, as well as Turkey have all expressed support for President Maduro.

China, a major investor in Venezuela, said it opposed any outside interference.

2 Ways Archaeology Helps Us Return to the World of the Bible - Duration: 2:47.

One of the benefits to any person reading the Bible is

again to understand culture going on in the text.

Very often when I am reading a text with my children or with

somebody else, even myself I start to import.

I read about somebody drinking and I immediately think of the

cups that I would drink out of or I think of the streets that I

would walk down and I import my 21st century assumptions into

the Bible.

And one of the great things about archaeology is it reminds

us to start thinking like the people who receive the word of

God in the Old and the New Testament, it helps us reenter

that world and to think along with them and hear the word of

God coming to us and the culture in which it was initially

written.

So that's a huge aspect of archaeology that really helps

every reader of the scriptures.

The other thing is I frequently take groups over to Israel to

see the various archaeological sites that we discuss in the

Bible.

And one of the things that people often report is when they

go there they see that this is real history, this is really

happening.

I was raised in a Christian home and read the Bible from as early

as I can remember.

And there's ways of reading the Bible can kind of be like

reading a great work of historical narrative that's

maybe even fictional because it's kind of like reading

Tolkien, there's maps in the back of a good edition of

Tolkien and there's all this great vivid imagery.

And you can become a little distant from the real narrative

of the truth that this is God really engaging in real history

in the Bible, the authors are really writing about Jesus as he

really walked and where he walked.

And so when you walk through the land visually, when you discuss

the land visually, it reminds you constantly that these events

really happened God really did bring a people out of Egypt.

And that makes things even more vivid for people, often people

who go with us overseas report that and I think also when I'm

in class and I'm teaching showing slides of archaeology

and discussing people report that you know it just reminds me

that this is real, God really did this.
