Youtube daily can't pay Oct 14 2017

The loss of voice partially or totally can affect the way we do

daily activities because we can not adequately express, this condition usually

appears after the vocal cords are used in excess or due to problems in

the larynx, but as for everything there is a solution today in todo en salud we will teach you

a juice that can be very useful.

The necessary ingredients are: - 2 sticks of celery

- 1 chopped tomato - Juice of a lemon

- Cayenne pepper Before starting we must wash and chop

the ingredients, then we start adding to the blender, tomato, lemon juice,

celery, a spoonful of cayenne pepper and half a glass of water, cover and liquefy

until a homogeneous consistency , when we have it we can turn off, serve and take.

This juice should be taken immediately feel the discomfort of hoarse

voice or loss of voice, if not relieved at the first take, take every day in the morning until

the condition disappears.

The ingredients in this juice will act as follows:

- Celery has anti-inflammatory properties that will help reduce inflammation in the

throat and vocal cord.

- The tomato contains glutathione a compound that will help us eliminate toxins

that are lodged in the larynx and may be causing aphonia.

- Lemon contains vitamin C and acts like celery as an anti-inflammatory

- Cayenne pepper removes excess mucus and fights bacteria

As you see this juice can be very beneficial to treat aphonia, so

if you suffer from this condition do not hesitate to prepare it and tell us what you think.

We hope this video has been useful to you, remember that your opinion is very important so

Liverpool intend to 'dominate' Manchester United during Anfield clash, insists Emre Can - Duration: 2:35.

Liverpool intend to 'dominate' Manchester United during Anfield clash, insists Emre Can

Jose Mourinho's side travel to Merseyside in a rich vein of form having won six of their seven Premier League fixtures so far during the 2017-18 campaign.

It has been a different story for Liverpool, however, who have won just one of their last four matches to find themselves 13th in the table, seven points adrift of United.

Germany international Can is aware of the significance of a clash with rivals Manchester United and is looking forward to what he hopes will be a 'special' day.

'It's for Liverpool the city, the fans and for us,' Can, 23, told Liverpool's official website ahead of the Premier League showdown.

'It will be a very, very tough game because Manchester United have done very well this season so far.

But we know we are strong too and we are really looking forward to the game.

'We have to be hard in the tackles, we have to try to dominate the game and score the goals when we create chances. We will see what happens.

'It's always special to play at Anfield and now against Manchester United after a few weeks of not playing at Anfield.

We are really excited and looking forward to the game and to play at Anfield again.'.

Manchester United will be in no mood to roll over despite Can's enthusiasm – Juan Mata said earlier in the week that the Red Devils intend to take three points back at Old Trafford as they look to maintain their title push.

'This is one of the big games of the season without a doubt,' Mata said in his blog.

'There's no need to say what it means for us and for our fans, and I hope that we can play a great game and take the three points to Manchester.

'We will try to extend our good run of results since the season started.'.

What Can Potential Employers Ask Previous Employers? - Duration: 3:16.

how do you get around the whole we're gonna check with your previous employer

part of the review process so I would say for this one just to check with your

company's policies a lot of times you're not gonna be able to avoid this because

it's a requirement of some companies I would actually check with your company's

policy and verify what their stance is because some places will only verify

dates of employment they'll only verify salary and sometimes when they ask

questions like is this person eligible for rehire or would you hire this person

again that they would generally not say much because they're afraid that you

will like litigate if they say something badly a lot of times they'll only do

these references when they go through HR they will tell the managers not to

provide references for employees and if that's the case then you're kind of good

because it's rare that they'll actually say anything horrible about you but what

they can do is be intentionally cryptic and examples of that are like if they

say our attorneys have advised us not to comment on this individual or if someone

asked was this person a good employee and they say I can't answer that they're

like well you're you can't answer this person was a good employee and so you

know there's a like oh well that must mean they're not a good employee there's

that whole subconscious thing that's going on so in that case if you actually think

that there may be a problem or if there is some form of weird retaliation that

may be going on what you can do is there's some companies and I'm not

verifying or validating that these places are good for you I don't I don't

really know much about them in general as far as you know how credible they are

but just to say that there are companies that specifically help people to verify

reference checks with their employers or previous employers and a couple of those

are AllisonTaylor.com and checkyourreference.com and those are some places

you can go to if I think it's like 50 or 75 there's 50 to 80 bucks I know it's

under 200 for these places to get like a background check I think some of it

depends on what level you are in the hierarchy of corporate America like you

know teachers might be different or as from a CEO okay so Oh bye Larry

okay so one other thing that Larry said today is the brag book is a great idea

too got to toot your own horn no one else will exactly I mean it's like if you're now

standing up for yourself and telling people how awesome you are you're you're

your own biggest advocate and that's this is life in general this is why I'm

so I have like the Wednesday's were it's like humble brag because if you don't

tell people how great you are sometimes it doesn't get her to recognize because

we're all so self-absorbed and you all have our own tasks that we're working on

we don't necessarily look out and notice the accomplishments of other people or

recognize them so it's really great to have that as a resource okay so let's go

on to the next question which is from Ruth how do you treat volunteer

experience as experience worthy of a professional position

Zamanı Bükebilir miyiz? Theta333® Zamanı Bükme Tekniği / Can Time Be Distorted? - Duration: 3:32.

Hello Friends,

Iwould like share very uncommon and interesting technique in this video

Can we distort time?

Can we play with time?

Now, we will find out the answer with this visualization technique.

First of all, what is time?

It is just an illusion where we live in so called lineer time line.

Actually, there is no such thing as time.

Time is just a perception.

When you have fun and spending great time,

When you have boring times, time goes very very slow.

Because time is only a perception changes person to person.

time passes so quick

therefore, we are able to change this perception, aren't we?

Lets say, you have to be on time in some place. However looks like you won't make it on time.

Now, I will give you a little mental exercise.

First, visualize a clock on the right side of your face. Either eyes closed or open doesn't matter.

It depends on your choice.

On the right side of your face right in front of your eyes,

visualize a wall type clock.

Set the clock to the time where you would like to be at.

lets say, you must be at that place at 7:45 pm.

Program that time and code it in your subconscious mind.

Beside that clock, visualize a bigger clock.

You are mentally drawing and visualizing it.

Visualize the minute hand turning counter clockwise and hour hand is following it.

When the hour hand goes backwards in time and stops at where the begining point is.

Do this one time and right after that check out the clock you set.

You are programming your subconscious mind.

Do this 5 sets each.

Repeat this 5 times each. Visualizing the clock works backwards 5 times and checking the alarm clock for 5 times as well.

That way you program and code your subconscious.

See if you distort time. You might not be able to succeed at the first time!

Keep trying and you will see your time perception will start changing.

It will be a moment you will be able to make your trip right on time.

Because time is only an illusion.

It is only a perception.

It is a perception depends up on gravity.

And you are practicing time distortion in a place where is no time and gravity.

You code this perception.

Yes, you can distort and change time perception.

See you on my next video.

I will share uncommon and very unknown, interesting techniques with you.

By the way, do not forget to subscribe my channel not to miss new ones coming ahead.

See you for now and I wish you all a very happy and peaceful days...

Checking In - Jack Marshall Can't Do This - Webseries - Episode 8 - Duration: 4:05.

This is the library.

Or the study.

Doesn't matter. It's my favorite room in the house, because...

it has a wall safe.

Seriously, a wall safe.

House had the combination, but the only thing inside was my aunt's 20-sided die.

Who knew my Aunt was a D and D player?

I mean, who would she play with? House?

Unlikely.

It's a four. Ooooh!

We're not playing D and D today. No.

Today is all about how I can't sleep.

And not because somebody threw a brick through my window.

Because of this friend.

Every pillow in the house is this size or bigger.

How am I supposed to sleep on something like this? I can't.

And, when I do, I get very serious neck pains.

So, I tried to go to the mall

but House informed me that the mall is outside the radius of my house arrest.

Will arrest?

I don't know. I'm grumpy.

House went to get me a new pillow

but he came back with one exactly the same size.

So, that was useless.

So, my apologies, but today I will be online shopping.

Boring, but necessary.

Does Amazon even have pillows?

Oh, over 32,000 options.

Do I want feathers?

[beeps of incoming call] Speaking of pain in my neck.

[beeps of incoming call]

[beeps of incoming call] Fine.

So, it will come on, and I just talk into this? -Yep.

And he can hear me? -I can hear you, Arthur.

Jack! How are things going?

Great. Everything's great.

Really? You seem tired.

You found something to do out there?

Uh, not really. Just shopping.

Listen, I feel obligated to tell you that I'm recording right now.

Jack, I represent the estate, you don't need too - -

I'm going to record all of our conversations so save your speech.

Why are you calling?

I have a maintenance request here from House for a broken window.

Did you break it?

Uh, no. Why do you care?

I'm the executor of your aunt's estate.

Everything goes through me.

Oh, okay.

Well, listen, I was gonna buy some pillows. Should I run that by you?

The estate does not pay for your personal amenities.

Arthur, it was a joke.

Whatever. Look, somebody threw a brick through my window.

It shattered. It's fixed now.

I know. I authorized the expense.

Look, Jack,

the estate will not pay for your mistakes.

If you get upset and break something

you will be responsible for - - -I didn't break the window.

So, after weeks of being empty,

someone just decided to throw a brick through the window

the night you moved in.

Yep, it's true.

Fine.

Next time I'll put a hold on your account until the matter is settled.

You can freeze my bank account? How is that a thing?

When you accepted the terms of your aunt's will,

you agreed to pay for any property damage incurred,

and granted me access to - -

Okay, okay, I got it.

This deal keeps getting worse.

You can always back out, Jack.

No one would blame you.

Well, listen, as fun as this has been,

how often do we have to do this?

I'll call from time to time. Make sure you're satisfying the terms of the will.

Besides, I imagine you're getting lonely out there. -Mmmm...

Consider me a friendly face.

Sure.

Now that that is settled, I've got places to go.

Good-bye, Jack.

Do you? -Yep.

Do you want some? -Please.

[screams into pillow]

He is so frustrating.

I could throw this pillow across the room

but I'm afraid I might break something.

Where was I?

Pillows.

I wonder what kind of pillow House sleeps on?

Do robots sleep?

Or dream of electric sheep?

AYL Trail Hero Sand Hollow State Park Hurricane UT Can Am 50 Weller Recreation - Duration: 28:51.

CHAD BOOTH: WHAT MAKES A TRAIL

t="567"HERO? WELL IT TAKES A BIT OF

t="1101"CHARITY, SOME

MILITARY VETERANS, A RUGGED TRAIL, AND A WHOLE LOT OF INCREDIBLE ACTION!

I'M CHAD BOOTH.

RIA ROSSI BOOTH: AND I'M RIA ROSSI BOOTH. TODAY ALL OF THAT COMES INTO

PLAY AS WE TAKE YOU ON AN ADVENTURE UNLIKE ANY OTHER AT THE TRAIL HERO EVENT.

IT'S A MIXTURE OF SERENE BEAUTY AND INTENSE THRILLS.

CHAD BOOTH: THEN WE'LL FOLLOW ONE GROUP OF VETERANS AS THEY SHOW US THEIR

APPRECIATION FOR OUR WESTERN TRAILS AND WHY THEY SACRIFICE SO MUCH FOR THE

REST OF US.

RIA ROSSI BOOTH: OWN THE OUTDOORS NOW WITH AYL!

(Theme Music Up)

CHAD: WHAT ARE YOU SITTING IN FRONT OF YOUR TV AND YOU HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF

THE CHILL OF AUTUMN? IT'S BEAUTIFUL WHERE WE ARE TODAY.

HI WELCOME TO AT YOUR LEISURE I'M CHAD BOOTH.

RHEA: AND I AM RHEA ROSSI BOOTH AND WE ARE IN HURRICANE UTAH AT THE TRAIL

HERO EVENT. AND IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN YOU'VE GOT TO GET HERE NEXT YEAR.

CHAD: THAT IS RIGHT. IF YOU ARE INTO OFF-ROAD THIS IS WHERE TOMORROW'S HEROES

ARE MADE TODAY. BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOME REALLY TOUGH OBSTACLES COMPETITIONS

AND RACES. IT'S HAS EXPANDED A LOT FROM LAST YEAR SO WE ARE TO SHOW YOU AROUND.

RHEA: RIGHT. IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT COMPETITION AND BIG RIGS. THIS IS ALSO ABOUT

LAND-USE THIS IS ABOUT CHARITY, THIS IS ABOUT WAR VETERANS,

AND THIS IS JUST A FANTASTIC EVENT.

CHAD: SO THERE IS LITTLE BIT OF SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. IT'S PART PARTICIPANT,

PART SPECTATOR, IT'S SPECTACULAR.

RHEA: IT REALLY IS. THIS IS AN AMAZING EVENT AND I THINK WE NEED TO GET RIGHT TO IT.

Music up

Man: trail hero is a four-day event where we have trail rides from mild to wild.

We also have theamed days that consist of special needs access where we get

people with physical and mental disabilities out on the trails.

Any Vets for active military out on the trail as well with us.

Giving them motorized access.

Lady: we have got rock racing, rock crawling, and trail braking, bounty Hill,

and then four days of trails that are guided throughout the whole entire area

of sand hollow and sand mountain, Torkerville, Laverkin, and all things

hurricane Utah. This year we added in a couple other of events. And one of

them is the beach party. It is happening on Friday. Because we are at a

state Park and BLM property right across the road everything happens within

a quarter mile of each other. So we are bringing in a slip and slide with a

water pump. We will have a bucking bull out in the water so if anyone wants

to try to stay on thing, go for it.

Man: in our sport there is a level of enviormentalism that is unparalleled

and it is not environmentalism as in exclusionism like a lot of other

groups are. We want everyone to be able to access land that's what it's

there for. It's there for us to enjoy.

Lady: trail hero is awesome because it brings the community together to

understand how important it is for us to have trails available and public lands.

Since were on the West and not the East Coast we have a lot of BLM out here and

they like to do land swaps with private property owners. That is what trail hero

is trying to do is stop a land swap and raise money and awareness of what will

happen which the entire area will get shut down if they do a land swap.

Man: the protection of motorized access on public lands is important because a

lot of these people can go for a hike they can't get on a horse they have to

have motorized access to experience the outdoors. And when you take that away

from them you're taking their legs away from them. They will never be able to

go for a 15 mile hike it's also important because you're taking that land away

from veterans.

And these are guys that fought for this land and now they can't access it.

Lady: there's tons of stuff that are going on within trail hero because we

want to keep everybody busy and engaged and understand all things rock sports.

Chad: we are having a blast here at trail hero. But if this is not for you,

they've got another one planned and it's called fury Road. Let's check it out.

Lady: so fury road is 33 miles of dirt roads sand and a Little Rock.

You can do it on a stock UTV or 33 inch tires and it's open for anyone to

come and do just need to register. The race doesn't happen on a lap, the

race happens on each of your checkpoints because we are going to make you

do something at each different checkpoint.

Man: we have classes from completely stock vehicles and UTVs all the way

up to buggies. So everyone can partake. It's an easy way and affordable way

to get out there and try to start being competitive or have fun in a

competitive atmosphere. Just go to our website and find out more.

Rhea: nothing like airing down the tires over here and sand hollow.

That's one thing you got a remember to do right?

CHAD: SURE. IF YOU'RE GOING TO COME OUT TO AN EVENT LIKE THIS YOU DO WANT TO

AIR DOWN YOUR TIRES. RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE ON THE DUNES IF YOU'VE JUST

GOT BRING YOUR TIRES IS TO GET DOWN TO ABOUT 15 OR 20 POUNDS. IF YOU'VE GOT

BEAD LOCKS WHICH LOCKS YOUR TIRE ONTO THE RIM YOU CAN TAKE THEM DOWN EVEN

FURTHER MAYBE 5 TO 10 BUT YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THAT WITHOUT THEM BECAUSE YOU

MIGHT LOSE ALL THE AIR OUT OF YOUR TIRE AND THEN YOU'LL BE REALLY IN A MESS.

RHEA: YES OWIE.

CHAD: WHEN YOU ARE OUT HERE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A WHIP LINE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE

ONE YOU CAN BUY ONE AT THE STATE PARK ENTRANCE. BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE

SOMEBODY COME OVER THE TOP OF A HILL AND NOT SEE YOU AND END UP HAVING A RIG

IN YOUR BACKSEAT. WHICH HAPPENS.

RHEA: YEAH, WE DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THAT. ACTUALLY WE ARE GOING TO GO TO

OUR TRAVEL ADVENTURE AND STEVE HUMAN IS ACTUALLY HERE WITH US AT THE EVENT

AND HE IS GOING TO SHOW YOU

STEVEN HEUMANN: THAT'S RIGHT RIA, THERE ARE A LOT OF FUN ACTIVITIES GOING ON

HERE AT TRAIL HERO, BUT I WANT TO TAKE YOU OUTSIDE. RIGHT NOW I'M AT THE

VENDER AREA CHECKING OUT SOME OF THESE RIGS, THERE'S SO AMAZING THINGS GOING

ON, BUT I'M HEADING OUT INTO THE DUNES. THERE ARE SO MANY TRAILS OUT HERE

AND THIS AREA OF SAND HOLLOW IS SO AMAZING YOU COULD SPEND A WEEK.

I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH TIME BUT I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU AS MUCH OF IT AS I CAN.

FOLLOW ME.

DOUG DENTON: Sand Hollow state Park is the newest park in the state park system.

We started here in 2003. Sand Hollow is one of the only places here where

you're going to have a reservoir next to sand dunes. That creates an opportunity

for not only boating but OHV as well. We have sand dunes here and there are

just tons of opportunities here at the park.

BRITTANY COZZENS: I would say it's the best place on earth. You have a lake,

you have sand dunes, you have hiking, and you have camping.

KENNETH BLACKWELDER: This is a beautiful area. I didn't expect it to be as

prosperous and the beauty of the red rocks and stuff is far beyond what I

thought it might be. We have a lot of reservoirs in Kansas and a lot of good

fishing and boating and so forth, but the surrounding scenery is a lot prettier

than what we have.

STEVEN HEUMANN: THAT CONTRASTING ENVIRONMENT OF RED AND BLUE IS THE HALLMARK

OF SAND HOLLOW, AND THE ADVENTURE IS EVERY BIT AS DIVERSE AS THE COLOR SCHEME.

THE WATER OFFERS A SPECTRUM OF THRILLS FROM THE OBVIOUS WAKEBOARDING AND

SKIING, TO THE LESS OBVIOUS SCUBA DIVING. SINCE TRAIL HERO IS ALL ABOUT

LAND ACCESS AND EXPLORATION THOUGH, I DECIDED TO HIT THE TRAIL.

AND THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM.

DOUG DENTON: I don't think people understand what Sand Mountain really has

to offer and all the different trails there. You can go up sand dunes and be

on actual sand dunes and in a few minutes be crawling up a canyon, and it's

all within a five mile stretch and so it's a great place to go and lots of

hidden places that people don't really know about.

STEVEN HEUMANN: SAND HOLLOW ALSO HAS A FULL CONCESSIONAIRE OFFERING

EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY WANT OUT HERE.

BRITTANY COZZENS: We rent wave runners, boats, side-by-sides, 4-wheelers,

kayaks, paddle boards, we have a big six-man paddle board that's 15-feet

long and five-feet wide, fits six people, paddle boats, and we also have

a full restaurant out here too, so that's another thing we offer.

STEVEN HEUMANN: WITH SAND HOLLOW RIGHT ON THE BORDER OF HURRICANE UTAH YOU

ALSO HAVE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR LODGING AND FOOD, AS WELL AS A WORLD

CLASS GOLF COURSE IF YOU'RE SO INCLINED. PLAY A ROUND AND THEN HIT THE SAND.

IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THAT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE AN EVENT LIKE

TRAIL HERO AS YOUR ENTRY-POINT.

DOUG DENTON: You know, the great thing about Trail Hero is we have a group

of people who come out and respect what they're doing out here.

They want to come out and play and they want to come out and do their thing,

but they want to do it with the respect we appreciate. You know there's

always different things to do, different people to meet, you get two

different types of people. You get the boating side and the ATV side, and

you know, they're wonderful people and I like to meet them all.

STEVEN HEUMANN: OBVIOUSLY SAND HOLLOW IS AN AMAZING PLACE ANY TIME OF YEAR,

BUT WHEN YOU COUPLE IT WITH AN EVENT LIKE TRAIL HERO IT JUST GETS THAT MUCH

BETTER. YOU'LL WANT TO JOIN US NEXT YEAR, WE'LL BE PREVIEWING IT, AND YOU'LL

LOVE IT BECAUSE IT'S BEEN A GREAT EVENT. PART OF IT IS THAT THEY TOLD US

EARLIER THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE A WATERSLIDE ON THE BEACH, AND I'M GOING

TO TRY IT OUT RIGHT NOW FOR YOU, SO FOR AT YOUR LEISURE I'M STEVEN HEUMANN.

WE NEED TO TAKE A COMMERCIAL BREAK BUT WE'LL BE BACK WITH MORE ADVENTURE.

I DIDN'T GET VERY FAR!

(Music Up)

RICK PETERSON: WELCOME BACK TO AYL I'M RICK PETERSON AND I HAVE A VERY SPECIAL

PRODUCT REVIEW FOR YOU TODAY, IT'S CAN-AM'S FIRST EVER 50 INCH MACHINE AND

THIS UNIT JUST CAME OFF THE TRUCK A COUPLE DAYS AGO. I'M EXCITED TO SHOW IT

OFF, SO LET'S TAKE HER OUT AND SEE WHAT SHE CAN DO.

(Music Up)

Rich Weller: This is the first 50 inch maverick trail BRP has ever made.

Normally with first-time models you tend to be a little leery of those,

but after riding this a few times in the mountains this thing is just fun.

You'll find that the ride is good and it's got a great balance between the

power and the performance.

RICK: WE HIT THE ROCKS PRETTY HARD COMING UP AND I CAN'T BELIEVE IT DIDN'T

SHAKE THE FILLINGS OUT OF MY TEETH.

VERY SMOOTH RIDE BUT LOTS AND LOTS OF POWER.

THE SUSPENSION ON THIS IS EXTRAORDINARY. WITH THE GAS-CHARGED SHOCKS, AND

THE A-ARM SUSPENSION YOU'VE GOT TEN-INCHES OF GROUND CLEARANCE BUT ALSO

TEN INCHES OF TRAVEL.

THIS THING RIDES LIKE A CADILLAC RIDING OVER ROCKY TERRAIN.

NOW INSIDE IS WHERE IT GETS EXCITING.

I'VE BEEN RIDING MY WHOLE LIFE AND I'VE RIDDEN A LOT OF MACHINES,

THIS ONE MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE RIDING IN A MUCH LARGER MACHINE.

IT'S GOT COMFORTABLE SEATING, PADDED STEERING WHEEL AND TILT STEERING.

ANOTHER THING ABOUT THE COCKPIT IS THAT YOU HAVE BUTTONS FOR 2-WHEEL AND

4-WHEEL DRIVE AS WELL AS A SPORT MODE.

WHAT THE SHIFTING ALLOWS YOU TO DO IS WHEN YOU'RE GOING UP A HILL THERE IS

NO DELAY BETWEEN YOUR FOOT PRESSING DOWN AND THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE.

THE OTHER BUTTON ALLOWS YOU TO LOCK IN YOUR DIFFERENTIAL, AND WHEN I WAS

COMING UP THE ROCKY RIDGE ON MY RIDE I NOTICED I WASN'T GETTING THE TRACTION

I WANTED. I HIT THAT DIFFERENTIAL LOCK AND OFF I WENT.

AND THAT AMAZING SUSPENSION CARRIES OVER TO THE BACK WITH THE TT SUSPENSION,

SWAY BARS, GAS-CHARGED SHOCKS, AND THAT GREAT SUSPENSION TRANSLATES TO A

GREAT ABILITY TO HAUL.

300 POUND CAPACITY HERE IN THE BACK WITH A TWO-INCH RECEIVER HITCH.

THIS THING ONLY WEIGHS 1300 POUNDS BUT CAN TOW 1500 POUNDS.

LIKE I SAID THIS IS BRAND NEW, RIGHT OFF THE TRUCK, AND YOU NEED TO GET INTO

WELLER RECREATION IN KAMAS AND GET ONE. IT COMES IN THREE COLORS AND WELLER

WILL GET YOU TAKEN CARE OF. I'M RICK PETERSON FOR AYL. WE NEED TO TAKE A

COMMERCIAL BREAK BUT WE'LL BE back with more AYL in just a minute.

(Music Up)

RIA: WELCOME BACK TO AYL. WE'RE HERE AT TRAIL HERO AT THE LASERNUT RACE, AND

WHAT THAT IS A BUNCH OF TRICKED-OUT RIGS GOING OVER THE ROCKS AND SAND

AS FAST AS THEY CAN!

CHAD: THERE IS ONE SECRET TO SUCCESS, AND THAT SECRET IS A STUCK ACCELERATOR

PEDAL. EVEN IF THERE'S SOMEONE IN FRONT OF YOU. BUT THERE IS A LOT OF

PREPARATION AND WORK THAT GOES INTO THE LASERNUT,

AND WE WANT YOU TO LEARN ALL ABOUT IT.

(Music Up)

Cody Waggoner: the Lasernut rock race is an exhibition of top drivers with a

purse of $3 thousand which is huge. Most Ultra 4 races don't have a purse

that big. So it's brought out some big names: Randy Slawsen, Tony Pelegrino.

Rawlin: It's a short course, probably a quarter mile, uphill sand drag to a

downhill rock course. It's a tight race with a lot of guys and we'll be

bumping, and rubbing is racing. How they've set the course up is you're

looking for your line and if you can't make that line then you're just

looking for your next chance to pass.

Randall: You get in a zone where you're just looking for the next line and

it doesn't matter how difficult or easy it might be. You're always

looking for the quickest line through.

Rawlin: I enjoy the family aspect of racing. On the course it's racing,

but off the course it's a family.

Cody: You can get into it by buying a jeep. I bought a jeep when I was 18

and it was a 1971 CJ5, and I fell in love with it. I'm 41 now and off-road

has been in my blood ever since. I went form a jeep to a buggy and we did

the trail breaker yesterday going over extreme rocks. I just like progressing

and doing new things and taking the next step.

RIA: OKAY WE'RE HERE WITH RANDY SLAWSEN AND HIS CO-PILOT WHO JUST WON THE

LASERNUT RACE, THAT MAD RACE! CONGRATULATIONS!

RANDY: THANKS!

RIA: HOW WAS IT?

RANDY: WELL CODY GOT THE JUMP ON US RIGHT FROM THE GATE SO WE KEPT ON HIM AND

JUST PUSHED AND MADE SURE HE KNEW WE WERE THERE AND JUST WAITED FOR HIM TO

MAKE A MISTAKE AND SURE ENOUGH ON THE NEXT TO LAST LAP HE GOT OUT OF SHAPE

AND WE WERE ABLE TO SNEAK IN AND TAKE THE WIN.

RIA: BEAUTIFUL!

CHAD: WELL WE NEED TO GO TO OUR NEXT STORY WHICH IS ALSO TAKING PLACE HERE

AT TRIAL HERO. IT'S THE EVENT WITH OUR US VETERANS. LET'S CHECK IT OUT.

TERRY WOOD: SAND ON THE FLOOR OF YOUR RIG; A ROCKY LANDSCAPE TO CONQUER; A

BREATHTAKING VIEW OUT YOUR FRONT WINDOW. THESE ARE THE COMMUNAL EXPERIENCES

OF THE 4X4 COMMUNITY. THEY SHARE A PASSION THAT TRANSCENDS THE DIVISIONS WE

ENCOUNTER IN EVERYDAY LIFE. TODAY THIS GROUP OF EXPLORERS SHARES THAT SAME

APPRECIATION FOR AN AFTERNOON ON THE TRAIL. BUT THEY HAVE AN EVEN STRONGER

BOND AND SHARED INVESTMENT IN THEIR PROTECTION. YOU SEE, THIS GROUP FOUGHT

TO KEEP THESE LANDS FREE. SAY HELLO, TO OUR UNITED STATES MILITARY VETERANS.

DOUG NEBRISKY: Air Force, 22 years.

KENNY MACK: US Army.

KEVIN CAREY: US Army 101st Airborne.

STEVE WHITE: 28 years, United States Airforce.

JOHN BROWN: US Army, 84-87 and US Airforce, 87-98.

PAUL GOODMAN: United States Marine Corps.

MILES KIMBERLY: I served in the Army 10 years.

HEATHER MCCOULLGHY : US Army and US Airforce.

GARY CATES: US Army, National Guard.

CASEY FREY: Corporal, United States Marine Corps.

GERI HUNT: United States Marine Corps. Hoo-Rah!

MILES KIMBERLY: Today we've been on a Vet run. Rich Klein and Trail Hero have

put together a special day just for Veterans to get them out on the trails.

A lot of these jeeps are owned by Veterans. And we have some passengers who

don't have rigs and they're just riding along. But the whole idea is to just

get them out into the natural environment and let them enjoy their public

lands that they've spent so much of their lives defending.

KEVIN CAREY: The reason we're here at Trail Hero is because we got invited

last year, and after speaking with Rich Klein who is a good friend of mine...

we were able to talk with him and ask him, "How can we help to get some

Veterans out from Utah to enjoy these public lands that you're seeing

behind ya. And more importantly it's about getting combat-served and purple

heart veterans out on this trail so they can see the land they defended,

fought for, came home, and now they can enjoy. It's also to let them

understand we have an appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the soldiers

that never came back.

TERRY WOOD: WHEELERS FOR THE WOUNDED OF CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA IS AN

ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO TAKING VETERANS OUT FOR A WEEKEND OF EXPLORATION AND

DISCOVERY. THE INVITATION TO TRAIL HERO HAS GIVEN THEM THE CHANCE TO HIT NEW

TRAILS AND MEET STANDARD CIVILIANS WITH A DEEP APPRECIATION FOR THOSE WHO

SERVED IN THE MILITARY.

ART CROFTS: Well it's an honor to be around these veterans, and to have them

share some stories with us, and have them open up to other veterans.

MILES KIMBERLY: This is important to me because it brings brothers together.

Me, I really don't leave my house much. But I can come out here and play with

my brothers and sisters. They come from all over the United States, they

come from all over and we can play together and it's like we've known each

other the whole time.

GERI HUNT: I live in Las Vegas. So it's nice to get out of the city and enjoy

this great country, enjoy the great wheeling. It's also a challenge for me.

I've had some issues that have arisen because of my time in the military.

So this is kind of like a therapy for me.

TERRY WOOD: MANY OF US SEE OUR 4X4 EXCURSIONS IN A SIMILAR WAY, BUT AS

CIVILIANS WE'RE HARD-PRESSED TO UNDERSTAND THE PRESSURES AND IMPACTS THESE

COMBAT VETERANS FACE. THE SCARS THEY CARRY, BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL, ARE

OFTEN BEYOND OUR FRAME OF REFERENCE.

MILES KIMBERLY: Everybody has a defining moment in their life. You talk to a

lot of vets after they've been deployed and their life is before deployment...

after deployment. For a lot of people it's "after I had kids," or "After I

got married." But for a lot of us... After getting shot at for a year, it's

kind of a defining moment. It changes the course of your life. It really does.

GERI HUNT: Sometimes, a lot of our illnesses and a lot of our challenges

are not physical. And they can't always be seen. A lot of times we know you

can't fix us. We don't want to be fixed, we just want to be heard.

We just want somebody to listen to us.

MILES KIMBERLY: We aren't broken. We're a little damaged sometimes...

excuse me...

Some of us have lost friends, you know? It's changed our lives.

You do things, you see things, that you don't understand.

You just have to do it.

And you try to come home and fit it and it doesn't work.

KEVIN CAREY: For the veterans to be able to come home and get a thanks,

and come out to do stuff like this... it's really personal to them and

all you have to do is say Hi to a veteran once, thank them for their

service and you might just change his life. So it only takes a moment of

time. And you'd be surprised what it can accomplish.

TERRY WOOD: TO OUR CURRENT SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN WHO PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE

LINE DAILY, TO OUR PAST VETERANS WHO FOUGHT TO MAKE OUR COUNTRY SO INCREDIBLE,

AND TO THE HEROES WHO LOST THEIR LIVES CREATING A SAFE PLACE

FOR OUR CHILDREN...WE HERE AT AT YOUR LEISURE SALUTE YOU, AND THANK YOU.

FROM THE TRAILHEAD, I'M TERRY WOOD.

'A', 'The' - How Articles in English Can Change The Word - Duration: 7:30.

Hi! My name is Jason and I'm and English teacher from Toronto, Canada. Today we're

going to talk about the differences that articles can make. For non-native

speakers articles might seem quite insignificant, in many languages they

don't even exist. But in English they're very much a vital part of the language.

And when you're a non-native speaker, usually that's the first thing that

native speakers will notice about the way you speak. We will notice that you

might not use articles and this will change maybe the music of the language,

and we can tell that English is maybe your second language. But they are very

important and I'll give you some examples of how they work. The first

example is with the word man. Now the word man can mean several things.First

of all, without an article, we often use this to maybe make a kind of expression.

It's kind of like a filler word, but we use it to emphasize something. Maybe, if

it's a warm day, we might say, 'man it's hot outside'. Or maybe we saw a good movie

with a friend we might say, 'That was a pretty good movie, man'. Something like

that would be how we could use man as an expression, with no article. Another way

we can use man is with the article "a". If we say "a man", this just describes a

regular human person, who is male. So, "I saw a man on the street today, wearing a

funny hat". So, a very simple use of this word. If we change it though and add the

article "the". "The man" this is kind of an sleng expression that means someone is in

charge, they are responsible, they are like the boss. We could say, 'Dave, he's the

man, he knows what's going on'. Or maybe we could

say, "John is the man that you need to talk to if you want to know anything

about cameras". So, again a very specific man, usually the one in charge or who

knows the most. The second word I want to talk about is the name John. Now, John is

a very common name in English and probably the most common male name. You

might even have a friend named John. So, without an article John is

really a simple name, and that's all we use it for. But when you start to add

some articles the meaning changes. So, if we add the article "a" to say "a John" - a

John is actually an official word that means a man that was caught paying for a

prostitute. So, you might read a news story in some countries where this is

illegal that a John was arrested last night in one district of your city. So,

it's used quite a lot for this use. If we add "the", the article "the", to

say "the John", this is kind of slang to mean the "toilet". So, if you're at a bar

with your friends one of your friends might say, "I need to use the John", or "I'm

going to use the John. I'll be back in five minutes". So, again that really

changes the meaning significantly. So, it's important to note these articles

and with the word John. And the third example I have for you this is

a very popular example because it involves a very common swear word shit.

So, this word can mean a lot of different things actually, and sometimes I advise

my students to be very careful about using swear words in English simply

because the grammar around them is very complex, and it can really change the

meaning. So, in this sense this word shit can be used as an expression when

something goes wrong. So, you might say, "Shit! I can't believe my friend didn't

show up today". You might be angry and this is how you can use this expression.

We can add an article "a shit". Now, that's very specific in this

describe: something you might find in a toilet or a bathroom. So, this is

something that you might hear people use sometimes. And then the third way is with

the article the - "the shit". And in fact this actually has a very opposite

meaning. This means that someone is really cool, or they're the best, or even

a product is really cool or the best. You could say, "That movie was the shit". And

that means it was a really cool movie or the best movie you've seen. So, you can

notice how you have to be very careful with articles and some of these swear

words. And finally I want to talk about the article "the" and how we can use this

in a very special way. Now, a big difference between articles if you don't

already know is that usually we use no article when we talk about something in

general, something like maybe wealth, poverty, pollution these kinds of topics.

We use the article "a" when we want to talk about one of many. So, not a specific

one, but one that exists, like maybe, "I want to buy a car". It doesn't matter

which one, it's just one of many. We use "the" when we're talking about a specific

thing, usually something we both know. So, "I want to buy the car that I saw at the

dealership yesterday". So, that kind of specific thing so that is used to

indicate that something is specific that we both know about it. And we can use

this with famous people as well. So, a lot of people like in any language have

similar names. Maybe, there's a famous person like Bill

Gates. Now, Bill Gates is very famous, but again his name is very common. So, many

people might have the name Bill Gates. So, if I told my friend that I saw Bill

Gates today, walking down the street, my friend might be very surprised and he

might want to check if it's the one we both know. So, he might say, "Did you see

the Bill Gates?" And I could say, "No, he was just an ordinary guy with the name

Bill Gates". So, the Bill Gates is the one we both know, the one who's very famous. So,

that's a good example of how we can use "the" to talk about something very

specific that we both know. And to conclude, I just want to say that

articles are extremely hard and this might be the most difficult problem you

have in English. And don't be discouraged if you don't do very well with them or

you have a hard time learning them, but be aware of the differences they can

create. So, there's a few examples I've shown you today, but there are many more.

So, try to listen for them, try to learn about them, but don't be too

discouraged if you have difficulty with these. And that's it for me today. Don't

forget to subscribe to the link below. And I will see you next time :)

CAN vs CAN'T English Pronunciation Lesson & Car Karaoke - Duration: 5:06.

Hey naturals, what's up welcome to my car

I am running some errands, and I thought you might like to come along because

why not we're gonna go to the grocery store because

Cheerios came out with pumpkin spice Cheerios, and I tried some and they're delicious

And we need to go stock up before the pumpkin spice season is over now if you don't know about

pumpkin spice in the United States in fall it is

Delicious there's some not so delicious

varieties of pumpkin spice things, but you can find pumpkin spice

Lattes at Starbucks, you can find pumpkin spice cookies you can find pumpkin spice

Salsa, you can find pumpkin spice dog treats you can find pumpkin spice cereal

And that's what I'm excited about today. Let's go and let's put on some music. Maybe we can do some go natural English karaoke

Let's see what comes on here we go

My car beeps when I go in reverse

Hot just like an oven I need your lovin

Hey, ease my mind. That's it

sexual healing

Baby, it's good for us

It's good for me all right, so I'm a pretty horrible driver, but we're just going to the grocery store just

A little trip down the street. I think we can do it so listening to music and

Singing in English is a great way to improve your pronunciation and your vocabulary. Let's see if we have another song here

Something that I kind of know the lyrics to

All right so the chorus for this you can't hide you can't run and it goes with something I wanted to tell you guys about

Which is the difference between can and can't

So listen

You can't hide you can't run all right, so you can hear you have

That long a sound you can't

Hide you can't run and that that ah that long a sound is how we differentiate

the

Can from cants basically that is the difference because we often use

Can the positive. You know I can do it like yes. I can do it

We often use that can as a helper verb so for example. I can do it. Can you help me when we use?

Can in the positive

Without any other verbs then the sound changes, then it could be a longer a sound it could be

Can so yes I can can you help me yes, I can do you hear

I hope you can hear the difference between those two sounds. I'm gonna say them. We're pulling into the grocery store here

I'm gonna say them to differentiate so short a can you help me. Can you help me?

long a yes, I

can

So the short a a sound is used when we have like another verb next to it like help. Here's another example

Just park the car here before we go into the grocery store

oh, there's shadow on my face, okay, so

can you speak English yes, I can or

No, I can't, but of course you can say yes, I can so Ken yeah

Can you speak English yes, I can

so that is why we have two different pronunciations can and can so when can is a

Helping verb we have a short

vowel sound ah

Ken when we just say the verb can on its own with no other verbs that it needs to help

Then it sounds stronger

It's a long a a sound can and it's also the same vowel sound as can't so just like the song

I was singing you

Can't hide you can't run

So you can't hide you can't run from the truth

and you can't hide and you can't run from English pronunciation so make sure that you work hard repeat after me and

You can you can speak English with a clear accents. I hope you guys enjoy it or ride to the grocery store

I'm gonna go in and

get what I need and

I'll see you again in another video soon

If you like this video make sure that you subscribe by clicking

Right over there if you would like to have all my best tips and easy to download ebook you can click right up there

Alright, mmm. Talk to you soon. Bye for now I

got oh, ah

The 1 Bitcoin Show- You can't hide from numbers in the world of BTC! - Duration: 14:06.

hello everyone this is adam meister the bitcoinmeister the disrupt meister

welcome to the 1 bitcoin show today is Saturday October the 14th 2017 strong

hand buy and hold long term thinking 2020 having people we're gonna get into

that that's a number you can't avoid hey sorry we're late again it's a weekend we

can relate the show we aim to be on 8:45 a.m. Eastern Time in New York City every

morning that is 2:45 p.m. in Johannesburg and Harare and all over

certain parts of Africa and I want to give you guys a shout out all right we

live in a world central authorities that bail entities / people out when the

numbers don't come out the way they expected them to instead of promoting

success losers are rewarded it is not a natural state with Bitcoin the numbers

just are and you have to deal with every aspect of them you can only save

yourself with smart financial decisions all right I wrote that and it's a theme

that kind of sums up what's going on right now in the world in Bitcoin we

have people who complain who say the price is too high yeah well no one's

gonna fix that for you is the government supposed to make it lower it's it's not

fair that coins can create other coins I mean who's gonna fix that for it eh see

that's the thing in the Bitcoin world there is no central authority

in the regular world there are central authorities and they regulate the

numbers with no central authority the numbers just are you can't hide from the

numbers whether you are angry about them or you're happy about them they they

affect every move that you should make and you have to use your head and study

the numbers so there's an awesome tweet that mentions some numbers that this is

from Dan I'd link to it below everything is linked to below remember to check out

the notes section below and also follow me on Twitter at Tech ball te CH B alt

alright what 2013 two weeks he's talking about Bitcoin this is what everyone was

saying 2013 too expensive 2014 too expensive

2015 too expensive 2016 too expensive 2017 too expensive people keep saying

that they can't they run from the numbers and guess what it's going to be

too expensive next year - you missed out you can't

yeah and the funny thing is you can't get obsessed with that dollar value go

back to the simple numbers of Bitcoin they're only going to be 21 million ever

right now they're only there about 16 million out there so instead of thinking

in this dollar value paradigm and I tried to get people off of this lately

because I don't I don't have these clickbait titles they're saying 7,000

soon or whatever you need to be saving as many Bitcoin as possible that is your

savings account try to get trying to get as many Bitcoin but think of it there's

only gonna be 21 million ever if you end up with 420 Bitcoin and some people can

do that still and don't say that you can't do it but then they're only going

to be if you go by the number only 50,000 people on the planet could

have more Bitcoin than you and obviously that is not even going to be the case

you are going to be so elite it's not even funny

so I mean think again I'm using a huge number there but you should you should

aim high you should aim high and you know it's 20 getting 21 Bitcoin there

when and I've had shows about this before

they're only be in theory a million people that could have a more Bitcoin

than you and obviously that's that's not the case there's so few people have that

many Bitcoin so you should be trying to acquire I get value in your wealth in

Bitcoin now you're a step ahead don't get distracted by these dollar terms and

everything we know what's she oh I should be getting this cheaper mineiro

or no I don't think about it that you're not getting Bitcoin act away you're

getting something else you're thinking in dollar terms so in the world of a

Bitcoin savings is rewarded still you can complain about it though

but no one it's if you have X amount of Bitcoin you're going to get these crypto

dividends the same amount of crypto dividends and you can say well I it's

not fair that's not fair why are the rich getting richer why are the rich

getting richer well that's that's the system no one's going to stop them from

getting richer in in the financial system we currently live in outside a

Bitcoin oh yeah of course the rich are punished all the time that you can tax

them on their interest their earning on the savings savers are punished in the

traditional financial markets by the government sir whoever central

authorities I'm not blaming anyone because again if you don't like that

savers are punished in the traditional world then enter the Bitcoin world where

you are rewarded and yeah you can say oh the rich get richer that's all

well then don't enter the Bitcoin world but if you're in the Bitcoin world try

to be one of the rich try to be one of the rich so you are rewarded for your

savings like in the old days but before there was so much government

interference and regulation I mean Bitcoin is for the big boys it's for the

big boys you're gonna have to deal with numbers that don't seem fair I mean the

world is not fair but people have tried to fix it and you get what you get and

again some people enjoy complaining about the real world that the real

excuse Evie well the regulated world that we're used to and they can complain

all day but they're still participating in it so if you don't like it enter the

world of numbers where the big boys play and you're gonna have to deal with these

numbers you're gonna have to deal with the fact that yeah they're people you

don't like they have a lot more Bitcoin than you and they're gonna keep on

getting it but that's just the numbers all right and speaking specifically

about numbers in and dealing with the current forking situations that are that

are in the news and here's a way to deal with the and some of you aren't going to

like this at all with be gold let's say there is a guy out there my

king of the trolls we can call him let's say he has 300,000 Bitcoin okay so when

a crypto dividend is formed every time a new crypto dividend is formed a new

friendly fork or unfriendly fork comes out of Bitcoin that guy is going to get

300,000 of that new coin okay whether it be be cash be 2x or or be gold and he

can do whatever he wants with that and you know you don't have to you might be

his least favorite person on earth if he might be your least favorite person on

earth but guess what you're gonna have to deal and you know what if that person

really exists there and all of a sudden gonna have 300,000 be gold that means

for a month straight for a month straight every day he can dump ten

thousand be gold on the market alright so you're gonna you're gonna have to

develop your own strategies and when ended pump up be past with his earnings

okay so this this is about pure numbers I'm getting rid of all the feelings here

people because there are a lot of people with feelings out there like well be

cash is dead be cash is dead and I don't like be cash that's a pheasant Adam

Meister feeling right there but I cannot deny that there are bad actors out there

that are able to will be able to pump this up with and take into account the

way the system is and you're gonna have to make your decisions based on the

numbers here and it takes thought it takes intelligence here it takes you

know you just can't be like it's over the beef hash things first of all with

numbers to go look on Twitter they have fans whether you like it or not whether

you like him or not he convinces people and you know they'd all might be part of

the 80% but you're gonna have to deal with it one of the cool things though

about Bitcoin is that if you are part of the 20% if you're part of the thinking

population you're going to win in the long run you just have to use your head

and not do insane things and and and think logically and think what some of

these big holders are going to do how they're going to attempt to manipulate

things but in the long run this can't be manipulated because in the bottom line

is only 21 million Bitcoin ever and there's only so much that that actors

can do but they can do things and they can make you panicked so don't panic use

your user crypto dividends to increase your bitcoin holdings and take into

account you know hey there's going to be some that are using their Bitcoin crypt

of dividends to increase the holdings of other crypto dividends they may be

promoting alright so I talked about the 420 at the top 50,000 holders oh this

has been a lot so much to say people it's unbelievable

pound that like button this is but it's a Saturday morning I don't want to get

into too deep of a show here but again Bitcoin it's so it you're rewarded by

being a saver again and I love it I love it I have a tweet listed below it's

digital bit box retweet it it's asking them what are they going to do with some

of these uh crypto given and hard Forks with the be gold one let's put the

pressure on difficult fit box there a number there the number for storage

where while it provider their competitor with Trez or you can check out links

below if you want a trailer or a digital bid box actually and if you put pressure

on the number for people if they give an answer then the other ones will make it

easier to we just want this to again this is the free market here they don't

have to do anything but if we get our numbers out there and say hey we want

you to make these crypto dividend claiming processes easier folk they'll

jump on it because it's about it's good for their bottom line is they want to

get as much Bitcoin as possible also also Bitcoin magazine link to below

beginner's guide to surviving be gold and the business coin forks Aaron van

weird them wrote that it's good it's cool that he used friendly fork term in

his article as something that I use anyway Oh Andreas Antonopoulos has an

article link to below and I mean he gets into this number thing also you know

there's only going to be 21 million it beats the inflationary system that

everyone's used to so the strategy he has is just sit back in and do not

nothing type of thing we someone asked him a question like what can I do with

my Bitcoin do you don't have to do anything with your Bitcoin because of

What traveling abroad can teach you about U.S. history - Duration: 3:15.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Journalist Suzy Hansen grew up in a small town in New Jersey, before moving

first to New York City and later to Turkey, where she now works as a foreign correspondent.

What she discovered, as you will hear in tonight's In My Humble Opinion, is how living abroad

forced Hansen to reconsider what she thought she knew about her own country.

SUZY HANSEN, Foreign Correspondent; Ten years ago, I moved to Istanbul to become a foreign

correspondent.

I had only been there a month before someone called me a spy.

He was a young Turkish man.

He had gone to a very good college in the United States, and he was a brilliant person.

So, I was a little surprised that he would repeat that kind of cliche about Americans

abroad.

And he said: "Why not?

Even if you are not technically a spy, no doubt that the information you are sending

back to your country will be used for something terrible."

I didn't understand what he meant by that, really.

But then he said something else that surprised me even more.

He said that he believed the Americans had planned September 11, that there was no way

that the world's most powerful country could have let such a thing happen.

"You have got to be kidding," I said.

"You really believe that conspiracy theory?"

And he said: "You Americans use that phrase so dismissively, but it is the rest of us

who have been victims of your conspiracies."

He was talking about the Cold War.

He was talking about history.

These kinds of exchanges, these conversations kept happening in my first years abroad, in

Turkey, in Greece, in Egypt, or Afghanistan.

In Greece, in 2009, I had been sent to cover the financial crisis, and there, I was interviewing

dozens of people, asking, hey, what happened here?

I always framed my questions to foreigners in the supposedly tough journalist kind of

way: What did you do to your country?

How did you end up in this place?

I realized there was something accusatory in these types of questions.

Essentially, what I was saying was, when will you ever get it together?

When will you become more like us?

And more often than not, the Greeks from all different backgrounds said to me: Well, if

we want to talk about how this crisis happened in Greece, we actually need to start with

1946 or 1949, and the Greek civil war, and the American intervention.

You know.

They always assumed I know what they were talking about, because this history, our shared

history, was part of them, part of their identities and their world views.

What the Greeks considered an American intervention, meanwhile, I had known as the Truman Doctrine.

Other than that, I had never known the United States wielded such heavy influence in Greece.

That history wasn't at all part of me.

It was more than two years before I really felt confident really enough to write for

major publications about Turkey.

I traveled the region.

I had many more conversations with foreigners.

In the process, my world view was changing radically.

It felt sometimes even as if my brain was physically changing.

In those first years abroad, I saw that we Americans were actually engaged in an intimate

relationship with people all over the world, one that we knew very little about, and, even

if we did, it was certainly not at all the whole story.

Before I could write about another country, I realized I first had to understand my own.
