Mindful Meditation: Miracle Cure or Media Hype? - Duration: 3:12.

Ah, just a little mindful meditation to relax the brain.

Man, this feels great!

Oh.

Eugh.

Mindful meditation is the latest cure-all for, well, just about anything.

Do you want to eat better?

Cure your back pain?

Become rich?

Well, then close those eyes, take a deep breath and...do nothing, really.

The news is full of headlines about mindful meditation, and that's not surprising since

scientists have been researching the practice and coming up with some promising observations.

Some of which are really cool, like increasing the grey matter in your brain cool.

But not everyone is sold.

A group of 15 psychologists and cognitive scientists have published an article that

highlights the weaknesses in the current research on meditation.

So what's going on?

Is mindful meditation good for you or not?

Mindful meditation has its roots in Buddhism, but was made popular in the West in the 1970s

by Jon Kabat-Zinn, a molecular biologist who used the technique as a method to reduce stress.

Interest in the practice has particularly surged in the past 20 years in both the scientific community

and in the media.

And hey, full disclosure, I've tried it.

And it wasn't in a temple or a church.

I went to a group meditation class led by doctoral students in a medical center.

And it was good.

I felt a lot better.

So I was bummed to see this article about the problems with mindful meditation studies.

And, man, there were problems.

The article points out that only around 9% of the research surveyed used a control group

to account for placebo.

Less than 25% bothered to look for any negative side effects of mindful meditation.

And a 2014 review of 47 trials showed no benefits for substance abuse, aiding sleep, or weight

control, which is not great considering these headlines about meditation helping with

substance abuse, sleep, and weight control.

But the real sticking point for the researchers, has to do with defining the term

"mindful meditation".

And that's because, well, there isn't one clear definition.

At least not in scientific research.

I mean a general way to describe it is directing your attention to the present moment without

any judgment or reaction.

Just being.

But that definition isn't consistent across all studies.

I mean sometimes there are definitions focusing on your breathing, or how you're sitting,

or what your posture is.

This makes comparing data from different studies incredibly difficult.

On top of all this, researchers were also concerned with how the media is reporting

on mindful meditation.

Most of the time, they're lauding the practice as a magic cure for all ailments.

So the researchers worry that overstating the benefits of meditation could potentially

lead to harm.

Like, you probably won't be able to meditate away your high cholesterol.

That might deserves some traditional medical attention.

Now this doesn't mean the researchers see no benefit from mindful meditation.

They point out a couple of studies that have encouraging data about relieving anxiety,

depression, and pain.

They also had no problem with the methodology of a study that showed increased thickness

in the prefrontal cortex, which again, that's pretty cool.

So no one here saying don't meditate.

It might just be helping your mental and physical health.

Just have some tempered expectations while doing so.

So, maybe we don't know if meditation can treat drug addiction, but maybe a vaccine can?

Couples Play Truth or Drink (Alexandrea & I.V.) - Duration: 5:17.

- When I was younger, I was very much into

the Fall Out Boy, skater boy look with the

the hair.

Any guy with the hair, I was just like, uh, he's beautiful.

- My name is I.V.

We know each other...

- We met at a bar.

(laughs)

- [Interviewer] How long ago?

- Back in April.

- Early April.

- [Interviewer] So it's a pretty fresh relationship.

- Yeah.

- [Interviewer] Do you guys bone?

- No. We have both decided that we want

to wait til marriage to have sex.

- [Interviewer] Alright, then these questions

are going to be very interesting.

- Yeah (laughs). - Oh dear.

When was the last time you masturbated, and where was I?

(laughing)

- No, can't.

Are you attracted to any of my friends, and who is it?

- It's very difficult to actually answer

out of who of my friends because the only one person

I can think of that you say is your friend

is your best friend.

- Do you find them attractive?

- As an individual, yes.

- Okay (laughs).

- If our sex life was a porn, what genre would it be?

- Um, yeah, no.

- [Interviewer] You can still give it a --

- There's no genre.

- The genre would be wholesome Christian couple.

How many sexual partners have you had?

- Ya know, I feel as though, even if I say a number,

I won't get a number,

so I'm gonna match it.

- [Interviewer] What? Wait, wait, hold on a sec.

- Wait, what? I'm confused. What did I answer to?

- We're just gonna go with this,

we're gonna leave her wondering.

- [Interviewer] Have you tried

having relationships with other people?

- I have had relationships with other people,

and I have been intimate with other people before,

but it has always left me

hurt and not fulfilled.

Have you ever thought about cheating on me?

- No. - Good.

We had exes that lied and cheated,

so that's a really big no-no.

Basically, he had lied to me for a year and a half.

He technically was already married to somebody else,

and he had kids with that person,

and he did not tell me about it,

and I found out through the grapevine

because his wife messaged my sister on Facebook.

Yeah, it was pretty like dun dun dun (laughs).

- What was on your mind the last time we were having sex?

So now she has to take a drink.

- [Interviewer] Are you guys excited to have sex

with each other on your wedding night?

- Yeah, why wouldn't we ?

- Aw yeah...

- Oh my god (laughs).

- [Interviewer] Is it torture?

- In a relationship?

I don't think that sex is one of the most important things

because, ever since I was a kid, I always longed for

companionship, and, as I started to grow attracted to

females and want to desire a partner,

that was first and foremost the thing that I desired,

to have someone who actually cared about me

and wanted to be there.

What would you think if you caught me watching porn?

- I'd probably laugh to be honest.

I'd be like ha!

(laughing)

- [Interviewer] Ask him if he watches porn.

- Do you watch porn?

- I'm gonna say that there's a whole bunch of definitions

that people can describe it by,

so I'm gonna make you wonder that, too.

- Okay (laughs).

What's your favorite and least favorite sex position?

- That's a trick question.

There is no answer for that one for me.

(taps table)

Oh, you want me to drink.

- Yeah, if you're not gonna answer it,

then you're supposed to take a shot.

(laughing)

- [Interviewer] Don't worry about the fly.

- I'm like feeling really good, so I don't care. (laughs)

(screams)

- Got it. (laughing)

If you could sleep with any person in the world,

who would it be?

- (laughs) I don't know.

- You don't know, or you ain't gon say?

- Um, let me think.

Batman.

I love Batman. - Bruce Wayne.

- What about you?

- I'd say a younger Beyonce.

- Not right now? What?

- [Interviewer] Hey, I'm gonna protect you.

Just say Beyonce.

- Just say Beyonce.

- No, I'm thinking like Destiny's Child Beyonce.

- [Interviewer] Alright.

- Do you think we'll always be together?

- For me, yes.

- I like that.

- Where do you see us in 10 years?

- 10 years from now, we're gonna be married

and we're gonna start working on building our dream house.

- [Interviewer] Where?

- We haven't decided.

It honestly depends on the economy.

I'm sorry, I'm a lightweight. (laughs)

Wait, can we stop holding hands?

Your hands are clammy.

(laughing)

I love you. - I love you.

(kisses)

(laughing)

Paris Hilton Holographic Makeup Set: Monday Must Haves or Must Not - Duration: 13:09.

everybody welcome back to my channel so today's the videos of Monday must have

her must not it's a first impression video so if you are interest and seeing

that make sure you keep on watching subscribe to my channel hit that

notification bell I upload a video every single day of the week and I don't want

you to miss any so let's go and get started so this week's Monday must-have

or must not is something I've never heard of before I haven't seen any

videos about it ain't even seen any social media presence on it but it is

the Paris Hilton makeup collection and it is holographic eyeshadow and

holographic lipgloss and it's Astro purple I got at my local Ross for $4.99

didn't even know Paris Hilton had a makeup line so I was very very curious a

little bit of makeup on well that's all I have a lot of makeup on foundation

concealer powder a little bit on taurine and eyebrows but yeah let's just go in

and get started like so this is the holographic eyeshadow and I love higher

holographic lipgloss sorry guys I am still sick but what's really cool was it

is designed in the US and it's not tested on animals so that's is really

really nice I love the packaging I'm not a what people call themselves the hollow

sexuals I'm I'm not that you know I do like shimmer and glitter and stuff like

that but it's really really pretty packaging but yeah that is it was really

really pretty ok let's see so the eye shadow is 5 mil

5 milliliters or point 1 7 ounces and the lip gloss is 6 grams or 0.2 1 ounces

so I did a very very basic look because I just kind of look

these would look like on the skin so I'm just regular very standard packaging

maybe a little bit of Google Chrome or something but let's go ahead and just

this is my first time touching it it's very soft

like a weird like next her almost really pretty though

it's pretty color that lip gloss looks pretty I'm supposed telling vanilla the

class feels very anybody remember those roller lip glosses I got that very

greasy fill it looks really pretty in the packaging but in on the skin it

doesn't really just looks like clear grease or oil anyway okay I was kind of

really open this eyeshadow would be kind of I could also use it as a highlighter

what I'm gonna do first is I'm gonna go ahead and apply it to my eyes I think

and see what it looks like and I'm just putting some of this on my finger to my

lid

um I kind of stuck to my finger pretty just looks like a

I'm a basic shadow to me though

I don't know okay so what I really oughta for was to see about highlighters

but let's see if it works get on a brush just have my good old eco tools it's

just a lot of Fallout which was nice on the brush

um

I'm not seeing much of anything on the eyes it's something a little bit on the

face now

I mean I don't know first impression I mean this is what the back of the box

looks like that's supposed to be that I effect I mean obviously you can tell

that she's wearing like lip color I need that lip gloss but it doesn't make you

pretty highlighter so far not bad okay next I'm gonna go ahead and try the lip

gloss I am going to go ahead and put some matte purple lipstick down this is

the long-lasting matte liquid lipstick by Santee this is in number nine so I'm

going to hurry up and apply this and let it dry and then we'll go ahead and get

this holographic lip gloss tried it good lipstick on really do you love these but

I'm gonna go ahead and put on this holographic lip gloss let's go ahead and

give it a go straight down

it's kind of taken up the liquid lipstick

I'm not personally seeing holographic

okay I got some on the bottom lip and not the top lip

it's very very thin it's very greasy

definitely not seeing much of any kind of even shimmer I think it looks a

little glossy but not really see him

yeah but it's just totally lifting up that liquid lipstick and this is liquid

lipstick I have to scrub off with olive oil so that's kind of telling yeah

greasy this is yeah it's totally it's gross

so let's go ahead and discuss my first impressions of the Paris Hilton makeup

little collection I got a holographic eyeshadow and the holographic lipgloss

okay so first off I'm giving it you know five stars for price I mean it was $4.99

you got a big eye shadow and a lip gloss for $4.99 that's a really really good

deal for quality I'm gonna split them so with the holographic eyeshadow I

honestly probably wouldn't use it as an eyeshadow I can definitely see it as

maybe like an inner corner highlight or just as a regular face highlighter it's

pretty so I would probably give this like 4 stars out of 5 but I probably

wouldn't use that as honest its intended purpose the lip gloss yeah no I have

gotten better lip glosses from the dollar store

there's nothing holographic about it it's very greasy it's actually starting

to remove my liquid lipstick which this stuff is heavy duty so that's telling

you how greasy it is it smells good but no this is a pass for me but I do think

that I shadow used as a highlighter is really really pretty

some just kind of got some nice shift to it once again I've gotten better

highlighters you know from wet mile I love wet wild hat lighters so it's

really really pretty though it's unique it's kind of got this purple pinky rosy

shift to it so if you do see this at your little local Ross and you're

interested in it it's five bucks I don't think it's gonna hurt anything but

neither product is holographic just put a nut right out there the lip gloss is

not my cup of tea it's my opinion not a good lip gloss even just if you're just

going for shine not a great glass the eye shadow it's okay I'm like I said I

definitely do think it definitely is more about you to me as a highlighter

but as a eyeshadow no but yeah so guys just kind of first impressions of the

Paris Hilton holographic eyeshadow and holographic lip gloss once again really

really good price you know if you're interested definitely took it out but

you know this is just my opinion you might have a totally different

experience than I do both so far you know this is okay you know I will

definitely use it again it is pretty honestly this is you know I'm not gonna

throw it away but I'm probably never going to use the game it's just not good

but anyway you guys thank you so much for watching I hope you enjoyed it if

you did go ahead and give this video a thumbs up I'd really appreciate it you

can also share this video I never heard of Paris Hilton makeup line so would

love to get the word out on that and he did a little bit of research last

night and it does sound like she does quite got quite a few products some

contour sticks highlighter palette stuff like that so if I do everyone across

some more Paris Hilton makeup at Ross or TJ Maxx I would maybe pick it up

probably not any more of these holographic lip glosses but I would

definitely maybe try someone else but you guys thank you so much for

watching you can always follow me on my other social media my Twitter and

Facebook is that bunch of flambe by Meister grams that came at make it I'll

see you guys tomorrow for another video

Harry Kane can become like Cristiano Ronaldo or Barcelona's Leo Messi - Kobe Bryant - Duration: 2:19.

Harry Kane can become like Cristiano Ronaldo or Barcelona's Leo Messi - Kobe Bryant

The 39-year-old was in attendance at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening as the England striker put in yet another match-winning performance to help Tottenham to a 4-1 win over Liverpool.

And while five-time NBA champion Bryant didn't reveal whether he's a Spurs supporter, the former LA Laker is certainly a fan of the sport. I like football and I enjoy watching it around Europe," he said.

"I enjoyed the atmosphere at this game and seeing a top Tottenham team.". Bryant, 36, went on to talk about Kane's potential to rival the best in the game. Kane is good, very good.

I think he can still improve too because he is young and there are a lot of possibilities ahead for him.

He can be like Ronaldo or Messi, if he believes in himself and continues working hard, then he can live up to that level.

I love the way he fights and plays. Mauricio Pochettinos side ran riot at Wembley, with Kane netting twice in the 4-1 demolition job of the Reds.

After the win, Kane presented Bryant with a shirt with his name on the back as well as the number 24. Hes one of the worlds best, Kane told Sky Sports when asked about Bryant.

It will be nice to go and chat to him and pick his brains a bit.

It was nice to put that performance on for him. Tottenham moved level on points with second-placed Manchester United with the victory, five points behind pace-setters Man City.

Truth About Divine Healing #11:- Is Divine Healing a New or Old Concept? Can We scale it Nationally? - Duration: 6:45.

Since the creation of humanity, or since the fall of

Adam, the approach to healing might be different but divine healing is as old as the human

race.

The reason is pretty simple and self-explanatory.

God created Adam to be holy and protected by God's righteousness; sinless, sickless,

and deathless (Gen 2:7— "Adam became a living soul").

But Adam sinned, and as a result exposed himself and family to the elements.

Sin came in and opened the door for death to enter and corrupt our lives with sickness

and death because the wages of sin is death (Gen 2:17 & 3:11; Rom 5:12 & 6:23).

However, Scripture also says in Romans 6:23 and 3:25, Revelation 13:8, and 1John 2:2 that—

"the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, …the Lamb of God

who was slain from the beginning of time, …to be a propitiation for our sins and the

sins of the whole world, …and for the remission of the sins of the past."

To this end, the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross began way back to as soon as

God could find somebody to intercede on behalf of the world.

Someone to pray to him, so He could make the power of His Spirit tangible through that

person to heal the sick.

Remember our last two videos—healing by the scientific method and by speaking the

word?

Abraham was that person, who began the redemptive work of Jesus, in the body, according to scripture.

The bible tells us in Genesis 20:17, that Abraham, a righteous man, and prophet of God,

"…prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech [a heathen king], his wife, and his servants."

Since then God continued to heal both his people and the world, at the individual, family,

and national levels if they would find an intercessor or enter into a treaty with him.

Back then after he delivered His people—nation of Israel—from Egypt, God made a distinctive

covenant with them (call it a national health policy) to heal and keep them healthy, just

as He does with us today in Christ Jesus.

Exodus 15:26 reveals God as the Healer (called Jehovah Rapha).

In the covenant, he said to them "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your

God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes,

I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians.

For I am the LORD, who heals you."

And the bible tells us that "…there was not one feeble person among their tribes,

[because] …He sent His word and healed them" (Psa 105:37 & 107:20).

Israel's population coming out of Egypt was over 5million; there were no doctors or

medicine, but God, our Father kept them healed and healthy for 40 years in the wilderness

and beyond (Deu 29:5).

To those who don't quite understand the operations of God, these may be historical

accounts, but remember that God; that is Jesus Christ, the healer, is the same yesterday,

today, and forever (Heb 13:8).

These historical accounts are adequate to convince us that absolutely trusting God for

our communities, cities, and countries guarantees safe personal or corporate health policies.

The question is are you, are we ready to keep and perform Jehovah's constitution that

guarantees individual and community health for all.

Brother Lake stated in His notes "The broad scope of divine healing in Israel is the basis

of all faith in God for healing, and was the foundation of the ministry of Jesus Christ,

Israel's redeemer [our redeemer] and the savior of the world."

Hence the scriptures teach that Jesus Christ, who began divine healing through Abraham to

the nation of Israel (as Jehovah Rapha), is doing the same good work through us today

for ourselves, families, and nations towards all who come to him for

healing (Acts 10:38).

Why is it often easier to distrust someone or something? - Duration: 6:04.

Hello, welcome at this new vlog of Belicons.

Nice that you are watching.

This week my blog and vlog are about trusting politicians.

Regularly we hear politicians making mistakes that are very convenient to them.

This week in my blog I took a look at a specific mistake.

They made some miscalculations about the nuisance that we will get from the expansion of a certain airport.

Some protesters have found these mistakes and sent them to the government and the responsible

secretary of state has already admitted that their calculations were wrong.

But when we hear about something like that than it is easy to conclude that politicians just cannot be trusted.

But in my blog I wanted to know whether it is possible that they didn't make these mistakes on purpose.

And that turned out to be possible.

So they may have made these mistakes unintentionally.

While I was writing this blog it felt like I was doing something very odd.

This mistake was very convenient to the government if no one had found out.

Moreover, we regularly hear that a politician has really deceived us.

So something was gnawing at the back of my mind that told me that this attempt to try

to see this from a positive perspective is really against my better judgement.

So actually I think that it is easier to distrust the secretary of state than to trust her.

And strangely enough, we all tend to feel that way.

When we hear that someone cannot be trusted we quickly believe that.

Just think of all the turmoil concerning vaccines.

A few years ago some people started to argue that vaccines are no good for us.

Many people believe that and don't want their children to get vaccinated.

Well, each doctor could explain how vaccines really save many lives.

But somehow it feels better to think that vaccines are indeed bad for us.

Why?

This also happens concerning food.

On all kinds of places on the Internet we can read that common wheat isn't healthy

for us and that spelt is much healthier.

Because of this many people try to cut down on common wheat

and instead spelt is being sold 'like hot cakes'.

But people who have no allergy for common wheat can just eat that.

So as soon as we hear that someone or something is no good, we tend to not trust it any more.

How come?

I think that this is about fear.

When you hear that common wheat or vaccines are unhealthy, you don't know immediately

whether that is true or not.

But if it is right and you just continue eating common wheat or having your children vaccinated,

then suddenly that is a risk.

So by avoiding common wheat or by not taking a certain vaccine, we feel safer.

What we say then is: 'prevention is better than cure'.

And in many cases this is true, but not in all.

In case of vaccines for example, we can see that in areas where fewer children are vaccinated,

more people get diseases like the measles and they sometimes even die because of that.

So even though these parents try to avoid some risk, they actually endanger their children.

In case of common wheat this is different.

There is nothing wrong with common wheat, but there is nothing wrong with spelt either.

So if you prefer spelt, there is nothing wrong with that.

I don't want to claim that each time we hear that something isn't as good as we thought,

that it isn't true.

Sometimes it is really true.

So it's fine to take such stories seriously, but just believe them too quickly.

What you could do is listen carefully to what proponents and opponents are saying.

In case of common wheat for example, no one is saying that you die if you don't eat

common wheat, as long as you take a replacement, like spelt, you will be okay.

But in case of vaccines, doctors do say how dangerous it is to refuse them.

So that means that in case of vaccines it is much more important to find out what the truth is.

Of course, searching for the truth isn't simple, but what works very well is asking a lot of questions.

So just go to a doctor and try to find out what the truth is about vaccines by asking

all the questions you have.

The same that goes for politicians.

Their decisions have a big impact on our lives: they decide how many taxes we should pay,

how much money goes to the prevention of crimes in our neighbourhoods, etc.

It can feel very frightening when we see that these people make mistakes that are very 'convenient' to them.

In such a case you can choose to distrust them and to turn your back on them.

But just imagine that the protesters who recalculated the numbers concerning the nuisance of the

airport decided to turn their back on politics and didn't recalculate these numbers.

Or whether they did but they didn't think it would help to sent them to the ministry.

In both cases the secretary of state wouldn't have ordered people to recalculate these numbers.

So even though it sometimes feels better to distrust someone or something, it can really

be to our benefits if we try to have confidence and find out what the truth is.

These are my ideas.

Let me know what you think, on Belicons or on YouTube.

And don't forget to mention your arguments of course.

I'm really curious and I will see you next week.

Bye!

Is Donald Trump Liberating Syria or Gaming the World? - Duration: 5:24.

is Donald Trump liberating Syria or gaming the world? he said I am pleased to

announce that the Syrian democratic forces our partners in the fight against

ISIL in Syria have successfully recaptured Raqqa together our forces

have liberated the entire city from eyes'll control the firebrand Republican

also suggested he had done more to tackle the group in the last few months

than Obama did in his eight years as leader on that note the fall of the city

doesn't mark a major defeat for ISIL long before capturing the ruined

neighborhoods of Raqqa the ante partitioned coalition of Iran Syria

Europe Russia Hezbollah and popular mobilization units had defeated ISIL to

liberate many cities and towns in both Iraq and Syria mainly Ramadi Fallujah

Tikrit Mosul Palmyra halo and so on so the terrorist group had already seen its

territory steadily shrink before the us-led battle for Raqqa the fall of

Raqqa does in no way represent a critical breakthrough in Washington's

imaginary campaign to defeat ISIL as Trump would like to suggest as

maintained by numerous US intelligence reports and official statements the CIA

aided and abetted ISIL to effect regime change in Iraq and Syria in order to

partition the Levant on sectarian lines and protect Israel that gambit failed

and the battle for Raqqa was just a change in tactic no one in his right

mind feels grateful to president Trump for liberating the devastated city of

Raqqa let alone for saving Syria the site of hundreds of u.s. fact militants

on the streets of the occupied city their state-of-the-art weaponry linked

with Israel and Saudi Arabia and their qaeda-linked allies rattling sabers not

only doesn't soothe fears that are disrupted seasoned lay in Syria's future

but give its Iranian Russian allies tacit permission to keep on fighting the

real war on terror without being too disturbed about Trump's mind games on

the battlefield on the other hand could the rack collaboration have actually

been known more than a hail-mary moment designed to

briefly shore up a failed regime-change campaign

could that show of military success have helped to block growing concerns that

amid a blizzard of negative news and views the pro partition coalition was

beginning to fade as the most internationally hated American campaign

in the region in other words could Donald Trump have saved Syria give him

credit for this he certainly spun an international demonstration against

racism and Muslim travel ban into a flagrant case of disrespect for

international humanitarian law the United Nations and above all else of

course Syrian refugees Trump's rakha slur clearly resonates with the

resentment many people around the globe often seemed to have when it comes to

Washington's despotic allies in the region mainly Saudi Arabia keep in mind

that Saudi Arabia like the United States has also waged its own condemnable war

against the poorest country in the region that is Yemen the world cannot

ignore the realities of the current state of Yemen the war crimes committed

by the US backed saudi-led alliance in the past 30 months or so have put a

spotlight on the American injustice distrust and anger that plagued so many

of us the international system at the UN is broken too but the problems are not

new the violence is not new and the political divide at the UN definitely is

not new but the urgency for change is at an all-time high

briefly stated there would be no meaningful solution to the Syrian crisis

as long as Raqqa remains occupied by the war party and its minions it is the

single most vivid image of American resistance to regional peace and

security since liberation of Kirkuk by Iraq's national forces at some point

it's not that hard to note a link that connected the failed Kurdish secession

vote to the u.s. fact occupation of Raqqa it's all about permanent

occupation protection of Israel and preservation of regional status quo at

the expense of Iraq Syria and the rest of the region

so even as the real liberation of Ratko by Donald Trump becomes a distant dream

the reality of a permanent occupation is spiraling in the air would it lead to

another regime change campaign by a handful of moderate terror proxies would

it be intercepted by the anti partitioned coalition would the world

including the United Nations came to understand that the issue is more than

liberation would they grasp that it is yet another lesson in how America is

gaming the region and the world all over again by Tehran Iran

How to Find a Diet or Training Plan That Works For You - Duration: 9:35.

Welcome!

You're here to learn how to be more consistent

with your fitness and health habits,

whatever they may be.

You've identified things that work for you,

but you're just not sticking to them.

That's totally cool!

Right now, over the past couple videos,

we've talked about goal-setting;

specifically, part of a system called "GPS"

that I got from a dude named Niyi Sobo.

He has a podcast, "I'm Not You".

You might give it a listen;

it's pretty good.

Anyhow, in the first video that I did on this system,

we talked about goals;

that is, what is the specific outcome that we're looking for

with our eating and training habits.

In the second video, we talked about

identifying the purpose behind those goals.

Why do we want to achieve those outcomes?

How will they make us feel?

How will our life be different?

What are we getting from the pursuit of those goals?

[and the pursuit of those goals is something we'll get to

in a later video]

So we've talked about goals

and identifying how we wanna look,

how we wanna feel, and how we wanna perform.

We've also talked about purpose;

that is, why do those goals matter to us?

Why are we achieving those goals?

The third part of the "GPS" system is "Strategy".

Now, this is a little bit trickier to cover in a short video

because there are so many different strategies out there

that we can use to get to our goals,

but the idea is… Okay… We've defined what outcomes we want.

We've identified why we want those outcomes.

The third part is clearly defining a plan

of how we're going to get after those goals.

How are we gonna move towards those goals?

So there's the "what", then the "why",

and now we're talking about the "how",

the "strategy".

Now…

For the most part, I take a "Keep It Simple, Stupid" approach

when it comes to eating habits and the training habits,

and nowadays we have the Internet,

which it makes it super simple to look into

all sorts of different ways of eating,

and ways of training, and how to implement those strategies.

Now this is a double-edged sword,

because we can often feel overwhelmed

by how many different options we have.

Who even knows how many diets there are out there?

Or "ways of eating", if you will.

How many training programs are out there?

And how many of them call themselves,

or refer to themselves as "the best way", or "the ideal way"?

The fact of the matter is,

at least as far as eating habits go,

consistency is what matters the most.

There are general principles that obviously [poor word choice, there, Rob] apply

to all of us, like -

well, I don't wanna get into that,

but there are general principles that apply to everybody;

however, when we are pursuing specific goals,

we might need to make some adjustments based on those goals.

That applies to eating habits and training habits.

So here's what I like to do when determining

how do I find a strategy to get me towards my goals?

What I'll do, is I will find a way of eating

and I will find a way of training

that has been proven… repeatedly…

[that's the word I'm looking for]

that's been proven repeatedly to move somebody from

a situation similar to my own

to the goal I'm looking for.

So, let's say if I am a 31-year-old male,

looking to improve my mobility, and competence

with my movement patterns,

then I might look into systems

that have been proven repeatedly to do that.

Actually, that's why I did

and that's what I'm doing right now.

I'm following a body weight program

that I very much enjoy.

You can see it on my Instagram, @TheRobArthur.

Didn't plan on making that plug, but screw it,

check it out if you want, @TheRobArthur.

But what I did was, I didn't go making up

some crazy system or pick and choose

a bunch of systems and mold them together.

I chose one thing,

I chose one program, and I'm following it.

And, also, you might consider hiring a coach.

For example, the program that I'm following

offers a monthly membership where I can upload videos

of what I do and get feedback from trainers

who are trained in that way of training.

Damn, I just used "training" a lot, that word.

My apologies.

The point is, choose a proven system

and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Commit to one system and be consistent with it.

I've been hitting that system six days a week.

Now, only four of those days

are actually really training days,

but the other two are just general

"loosen up the body and get feeling good" days.

My point is I've chosen that program

and I have stuck to it, I've committed to it.

Now, as far as my way of eating.

I have...

I'm not gonna share with you where I'm at right now,

but I'll share with you where I started,

because where I'm at right now

is I've figured out what's worked best for me.

So the way to do that is look online…

Ugh, I hate to say that. God, that's horrible.

But, basically, find a way of eating that seems to

move you, that seems to have moved many people

towards the outcome that you're looking for.

So let's say if you're looking to lose fat -

I'm gonna choose my words carefully here

in this next statement -

If you're looking to lose fat, then what you might seek out

is a way of eating that has repeatedly worked

to help people

store less fat than they burn over a long period of time.

If you're looking to gain muscle,

then you might look at a way of eating

that has repeatedly helped somebody,

or has repeatedly helped multiple people,

in situations similar to your own, gain muscle;

that is, build more muscle than they break down over time.

And training plays - movement, I should say -

plays a big role in both of those goals.

The idea here, though, without getting into specifics

is to find training and eating habits

that have repeatedly been shown and proven

to help move people in situations similar to your own

achieve the goals you're looking for.

In my next video, we'll talk about what to do

once we've identified and committed to a strategy.

If you have any questions, hit me up.
