Youtube daily how Nov 3 2017

your friend Michael Unks here and today we will be discussing five ways on how

to become happier and have more energy these ways will be presented in a

manner you have never heard before and stay tuned for the last one I have a

prop that I'll show you was an impulse buy but it's going to blow your mind

stay tuned for that but for now let's discuss the first way on how to be

happier and have more energy

the first way no strings it'd be amazing if lifeless fair if the most qualified

person got the job if you got thanks for everything you did my friend I'm here to

tell you that light doesn't work that way but maybe it's not because of our

circumstances or the way the world is it's just the expectations we have I'm

sure you've heard the saying that if you stop expecting from other people that

you'll never be disappointed a very cynical approach to life at first but

I've come to realize that when you're not disappointed and when they don't

have strings attached to things that you're much happier let's think of

something small like giving a gift to a friend I remember years ago I was in an

extremely generous mood for a wedding I got an expensive gift for the bride

and groom all I was expecting it was just the little thank you I kept waiting

for my thank-you note kept waving and waiting and they didn't

get it I was so unhappy and I even said that's the last time I do something nice

for someone because I won't be appreciated

I had strings attached so that year a few years ago I was down in the dumps I

felt life wasn't fair I wasn't receiving in life what I expected so I let go of

the strings I did this on Facebook I would go on Facebook and I would see

people's birthdays I'd want to say happy birthday but I had this thought in the

back of my mind saying they won't say happy birthday back it's not worth it

don't do it I said no strange I just want to say

happy birthday I don't care if they say it back for one entire year every single

day I would go on Facebook I would send a birthday wish not expecting anything

in return a year went body was now my birthday I had seven times as many

birthday wishes than the year before needless to say I was overwhelmed but

how much people cared about me but I know in my heart that was because I

remove the strings I believe those promotions will come that special

someone will come all that appreciation will come when you remove the strings to

fully be happy you need to give fully and the only way to do that is with no

strangers wait number two stop trying to build the tallest building it may be

time to stop competing and start cooperating I think we all have a need

to be big shots to be somebodies that have people look at us and tell us how

wonderful one to be the tallest building in town maybe this comes from someone

who loses a lot but I felt competing to be very unfulfilling and maybe unhappy

I've come to realize that you'd be much happier if you stopped focusing on being

the tallest building and start focusing on building an empire

what I mean by this is building people up around you leaving us with a kind

work a word of encouragement a compliment to lend a helping hand to

paraphrase President Harry S Truman when you stop seeking credit for what you do

it's amazing what you can accomplish I'm here to say you'll be happier when you

start focusing on building other's life instead of yourself way number three

make time for play play isn't just for kids it's for adults too and we need it

and that may be why you're unhappy you think everything's so serious for

example for me I did this book fantasy football it's supposed to be a game but

I had the win I had to cross the competition I'd spend 30 40 hours a week

researching and I would lose you need time for play especially something

creative maybe you like the beat maybe like to write maybe you want to make

videos like I'm doing don't have any goals don't have any objectives just do

it because you love it just do it to creatively express yourself and watch

how happy it makes you feel as you watch this video you look at my subscriber

count it's pitiful there may be no views on this thing but I love it it's the

greatest thing I'm doing I get up early in the morning and it energizes me

I'm so excited throughout the day because I make time for play

next way be like a spider did you know that if a spider has extra prey in its

web that it'll let it go and what if we had that in our lives if we just

accepted the bare minimum that we needed all the experiences good bad and ugly

just took them as they were just enough to make it through the day that's the

mistake I've been making in my life is I was one life to be better I was wanting

more out of life and I failed to realize that I had everything I needed to equip

me for the day and to face the challenges that lay ahead of me and so

do you but be like a spider don't take more than you need take only what you in

the last way embrace being unfinished as promised

here's the problem I was telling you about

can you believe how big this cube is I'm oh man this might be the greatest lesson

I've ever learned I've always looked at your happiness like a puzzle that was

almost impossible to solve then everything needed to be complete

you needed to be with that special someone you needed to have that job of

your dreams you needed to be happy but life just doesn't make sense sometimes

sometimes you achieve what you want and when you do you're still not happy

you're always looking for what's missing in it you might waste your life waiting

for your circumstances the Chamber's waiting for that person to come into

your life waiting for that opportunity they'll likely pass you by to look back

at your life I think I've wasted my life what if you stop believing that this

puzzle had to be complete to be happy and started looking at this incomplete

puzzle has a reason to get up in a more as a reason to strive does the reason to

improve in all areas of your life my friend I'm starting to believe that this

incomplete puzzle is your greatest potential it's not your job to complete

it today it's your job to make turns in the right direction I believe you'll

have so much more happiness so much more energy when you embrace being incomplete

I have a feeling that our journey is incomplete I have so many fun exciting

ideas to share with you and subscribe today if you'd like to see them if you

like this video please share this with a loved one someone who needs it someone

you care for this is your friend Dr. Michael Unks inspiring you to learn

laugh and love I hope you enjoyed this video and I'll see you in the next one

EXERCISE and SKINCARE GRWM | How to Care for Your Skin After a Workout - Duration: 8:20.

we're recording we're recording for the first time in my bathroom whoa okay Wow

um I hope there's not a weird crazy echo what's up guys welcome back to

today's video we're who we are inside a magical mystery land this is actually at

my bathroom aka my Beauty room as you can see I have all my products all

around me this is definitely my favorite place in my entire house I just walk

into this room transform and I walk out looking 10 years younger every single

day it's literally my favorite place in the world well you guys I just got back

from the gym I had a crazy intense workout so I thought this was the

perfect time to hop on here and just share with you guys my post gym skincare

routine I also just wanted to take the opportunity to talk to you guys kind of

more casually and more informally because I love of vlogging but I also

love these skincare routines so I'm trying to find a way to kind of mix them

together I don't know if I should start a separate vlog channel or if I should

just do more vlogs on here or more chitchat videos like this for you guys

but before we get into all of that let's just start this post gym skincare

routine and then we'll get to chatting alright guys so the first step in might

post a gym a skincare routine is definitely an exfoliation appeal if you

guys are still using those old harsh exfoliation

scrubs ditch them immediately they're so harsh to the skin so to start off I'm

using the aah a peels so good skin renewal solution this is my faith in

face I actually picked this up at EJ max I think it was 5 bucks

originally I was using bosha as a peeling gel which I loved but it was

like 30 bucks and I found this and it works almost just as well so what I'm

gonna do is take a small amount and just apply it to the skin and then we're just

gonna start scrubbing and you guys will see my own skin peel off it'll be really

disgusting and of course I'll have everything linked down below so you guys

can find it I'm just gonna scrub my skin is literally going to start I can feel

it now starting to peel off can you guys see you ooh oh my gosh you guys so

yesterday on Wendy Williams did any of you guys see her faint it was the

Halloween special she was dressed as the Statue of Liberty like granted

girlfriend gave us a great meme and gift for like the rest of our life the way

she fainted but like I am a fainter and to see her faint was really scary anyway

she was a trooper and she came back for the end of the show and just like as if

nothing happened but all right even start to see my skin is a really peeling

off I'm just gonna give this a quick or words sweet you eyes are right

back here next I'm just gonna be using my favorite Clarisonic along with my

favorite face wash ever you guys this is my tried and tested at Clarins daily

energizing gel for some reason they do not sell this in the States

I don't know why it's only available in Canada so you can either shop on like

amazon.ca or do some thirsty internet shopping and pick it up but what I'm

doing is just making some bubbles here and now that our skin is totally

exfoliated of this gonna give it a good clean with the Clarisonic oh I just love

the Clarisonic you guys anyway when Wendy Williams fainted I was just

shocked to the core because I have fainted before I think it's several

times I would actually say that I am a fainter and like when you're gonna faint

you're gonna faint it's going down and you know like a couple seconds before

that it's gonna happen and look I can only imagine she went terrified what

else is new well you guys we are almost at two thousand subscribers on my

channel can you believe that we went from zero to we are climbing to 2,000 I

have full intentions of taking this channel all the way to the top so guys

if you are part of this original 2,000 thank you so much you are the OGS of

this channel we are gonna take it to the top together

I love reviewing products you guys I love testing and trying them I love

sharing them with you guys I'm just going to go ahead and give my face a

rinse of one sec yeah almost 2,000 subscribers you guys that is so crazy my

heart is just full of joy if we can get to 2,000 that there is no reason why we

can't get to 10,000 20,000 50,000 a girlfriend let's take this to 1 million

like I want to just get invited over to Tati's host because girlfriend I have

got skincare secrets even you don't know I don't think I mentioned what I was

using you guys if you've been watching my channel since the beginning you know

that my all-time favorite toner is the camomile toner by Clarins I've used this

for about 15 years now it's my all-time favorite toner it's really great at

restoring the pH balance softening the skin and getting it ready to absorb all

of the skincare ingredients that you ever look to layer on top lately you

guys I've been really into mixing serums together before I applied them on a skin

I was layering them one by one but literally like I don't have 25 minutes

to do a skincare routine every day so today I'm using the

Shiseido ultimate power infusing concentrate this is an amazing skin

softener you guys I've actually been using it for a while now and I think

when I pick up the whole jar this was one of those deluxe samples from Sephora

but I really enjoy it so I'm just gonna get this morn o next time I'm gonna add

in the genifique HD serum for men boom add one squirt in there mix this all

together and then you just want to go ahead and press this deep into the skin

now the winter is coming it's really important to start using a great serums

to really moisturize the skin and a prime it for your moisturizer just to

make sure that you're maximizing the moisturizing benefits now they're gonna

be in an order the heat more often your skin that's gonna start getting really

dry I know mine has especially around the nose region my lips have been so dry

okay let's take a quick break from the skincare routine while this serum seats

into these skin because I need a fragrance break I need to be taken away

to a fantasy island so today let's go in with and Britney Spears at midnight

fantasy no this is not sponsored by Britney Spears but Britney does the

sponsor my whole life always has ok ok we'll admit it's no dolce gabbana smells

a little bit like alcohol but once those fumes go away once those chemical fumes

go away you're just left with them think of like a purple a cotton candy no but

it really does smell like hairspray up next is hydrating the eye contour area

you guys and I am using Asia Sato eye cream this one is really thick so like I

said now that winter is coming this is a great eye cream to incorporate into your

skincare routine like I said before I'll have everything linked down below but

what you want to do with the great eye cream is applied along the cheekbone

here you don't want to put it right under the eye because it does naturally

move and if you put it right under the eye it will go into your eye and it can

cause eye irritation I like to focus I get really dry kind of right in the

middle area here I like to take it right down the top of the bridge of the nose

because I get dry skin in there it to Pat a little bit along the brow bone

here and then just go to town ooh refreshing so next I'm taking my Clarins

a multi actives or Clarence's one of my favorite skincare

companies you guys there's gonna dot this all over the skin also you guys let

me know in the comments down below what kind of videos you like to see do you

like to see skincare routines chitchat videos face mask routines I really want

to know what you guys like that way we can stay in touch we can chitchat more I

wish there was more of a way for us to kind of communicate more than the

comments down below which if you leave me a comment I do tend to reply to

almost all of them as much as I can anyway but I love just sitting here and

chit chatting with you guys more so than just doing tutorial this just seems way

more personal and this seems like the reason that people do YouTube is to

create these connections and these contents so if you're just sitting at

home bored and you feel like we are hanging oh right now I have achieved my

objective we've almost reached the end of my post gym skincare routine you guys

there is only one thing left for me to do and that is to spritz my face with

the Mario Badescu of facial spray this contains aloe vera and rosewater this is

one of the best-selling sprays and facial sprays ever that I've ever tried

I would actually say this is even better than the Kota Leah facial spray which I

know is really popular and I think around $40 I think you can pick this up

for 20 it has a light rose and aloe scent this is a great facial spray just

have in your bathroom to refresh the Schism when I shot my

eyes I just pretend them in a rose garden hello bumble bee anyway guys that

is the end of my post gym skincare routine if you like this style of

chitchat video don't forget to leave a comment down below and give this video a

big thumbs up if you haven't already don't forget to subscribe before you go

and hit that little Bell notification so you know every time I upload a new video

like always guys I love sitting down and chatting with you especially now in my

bathroom if you need more of me in between now and exit video you can

always find me on Instagram snapchat Twitter and Facebook until the next

video guys I'll see you then

Classroom Preview: How Do You Read Your Bible? - Duration: 3:17.

When you sit down for your personal devotions or for family worship, how do you read your

Bible?

What is the relationship between Malachi and Matthew, between Leviticus and Luke, between

Genesis and Revelation?

How do we understand the different parts of the Bible to the person and work of Jesus

Christ?

How does the landscape of Scripture fit together?

What about the relationship of the law to the gospel?

How do we think about the relationship between Israel and the church?

Well, covenant theology seeks to answer those questions and many more.

Covenant theology is an organizing principle that structures the entire biblical message.

Like the air we breathe, covenant theology pervades every text of Scripture.

Like the interstate highway, it actually connects the beginning of the Bible to the end of the

Bible.

You can even think of covenant theology as the Route 66 of Scripture—that goes from

Genesis to Revelation.

For this reason, the great Princeton theologian even called covenant theology "the architectonic

principle of Reformed theology."

It structures our understanding of how we read the Bible.

We can actually even think of covenant theology as a set of spectacles that God gives us that

we can read the text of Scripture to expound our understanding of His relationship with

us.

And so covenant theology seeks to give form to the relationship and the promise that God

gives: "I will be your God, and you will be My people."

This divine pledge establishes the baseline of covenant theology, it actually shapes every

historical relationship between God and His people from Genesis to Revelation.

This divine pledge, "I will be your God, and you will be My people," centers on the person

and work of Christ and finds fulfillment in a new heaven and new earth.

So the great Scottish reformer Robert Rollock said that 'all the Word of God pertains to

some covenant.'

Covenant theology is an organizing principle.

It's a biblical- theological hermeneutic that helps us understand how all of God's Word

fits together for a united message that centers on the person and work of Christ.

How to Hear From God - Two Minute Message - Duration: 1:48.

- Hey everybody, Daniel Fusco here.

Welcome to today's Two Minute Message.

A common question that I get asked,

because I'm a Pastor, is

how do I know when I'm hearing from God?

And I think it's a great question,

because, for all of us, we should be looking

for guidance from somebody wiser,

somebody who understands more than ourselves.

That's just wisdom in itself.

And if you're a person who believes in God,

you know that God is the wisest person who ever lived.

Now, if you don't believe in God,

He's still the wisest person who ever lived

you're just choosing to pretend like he doesn't exist.

And that's a different discussion for another day.

But how do you know if you're truly hearing from God?

First, God has given us His word for a reason.

So you need to check the things that you sense

against what it says in the word of God.

And if God's word says that that's not what

you're supposed to do, no matter if you think

you're supposed to do it or not, you're wrong.

You're not hearing from God.

You either ate some funky chili or you just

really want it to be and you think that

by saying God wants you to do that makes it better.

So there's things that God doesn't want.

He tells you what He doesn't want and so you don't do that.

So, you check God's word.

Second, you should always check with people who

are farther down the road of walking with God

and ask them to pray for you.

I love Godly counsel in my own life.

And so that's another way.

You check your decision against people

who you know love the Lord, love His word,

are following that stuff out.

And then third, is this the way that brings

the greatest peace to your heart and

also the greatest blessing to the world?

Both of those things.

Peace to your heart and blessing to the world.

That is a great way to know, is this

what God would have for me?

So we want to respond to this message.

We don't just want to hear it, we want to respond to it.

So first share this message.

Cause everyone's like,

"Hey is this God's will for my life?".

And in your comments I want you to put in

this is where I'm seeking God on direction for my life.

And don't be shy about it, because, listen,

we're all in process, we're all seeking

to understand what God's plan is.

And by you writing it down, people are

gonna be able to join you in prayer

and encourage you as you take those next steps.

God bless you guys.

New version of Bet Angel - How to call a servant - Duration: 3:24.

so once you have created your servant you'll need to call it and you can do

that in a number of very simple ways on the shortcut area within the servant

manager you can actually nominate some keystrokes that will activate the

service when you move over the one-click screen or the ladder over a certain

runner use that keystroke and a click of the mouse to activate the servant

you can also pre assign servants to certain keystrokes any keystrokes that

you like and that is because we have the keyboard shortcut editor within the

settings area on betangel that will allow you to call a servant using any

combination of keys and that means that you can assign it to a gaming keypad

Gaming Mouse some other device will allow you to call a servant however

there is another way that you can activate a servant in a very simple and

easy visual manner and that is via the one-click screen and the custom columns

yes you can create a custom column that allows you to activate or deactivate a

servant or assign any number of variables or servants to the one-click

screen you can redesign the one-click screen you can put the odds and other

information there we can also put a range of different services so that will

make it absolutely perfect if you want to get in and out of a market quickly or

for example if you're doing something in play and you need to act quickly put

loads of custom columns on your one-click screen and you can activate

the servants from there so a servant has three individual states it can be

pending it can be active or it can be off and you can control that either

manually by switching the servant on or off or by actually defining that within

the servant you can say to a servant I want you to be active ten minutes before

the start of this event or when the event is in play five minutes in play or

for 45 minutes or you can decide exactly when you want the servant to be active

but you can alter it also do some very clever things such as you can make the

seven active for only a short period of time so you can sort of say right I

think this is going to happen it's going to happen in the next 30 seconds off you

go and it will be active for that short period of time and then stop

automatically so basically you get the servants to be active or

inactive however you wish but what happens when they're in these individual

states is you will actually see the little icon turn to green when a servant

is active amber when it's pending and then red if you've actually switched it

off so you will see the color toggle on the individual selection that you've

made within the market to indicate the state of that particular servant if you

want to check on exactly what's going on you've got two options if you hover over

that particular icon that will tell you what's going on with the market if you

right-click it that will allow you to stop all servants or perform other

actions within that particular market or if you go to the servant manager the

servant manager will detail and list everything that's going on with all of

the servants in that particular market

you

How to Read Free or Cheap Books - Duration: 8:57.

Let's talk about money!

Namely, the fact that I don't have a ton of it.

Haha!

Today I'm going to tell you how to get books for free or cheap.

So, Money!

Money, money, money!

If you are like me, you have a lot less of it than you would prefer.

Unfortunately, it is not raining like manna from the heavens.

It is scarce and hard to come by sometimes.

So I've heard a common complaint about Booktube: that it's just not very affordable.

You see a lot of these people holding shiny, brand new hardback books that they can hold

in their hands and talk about in their videos.

Well, I don't have that kind of money and honestly a lot of the booktubers don't have

that kind of money.

Maybe they're getting those books for free from publishers to help kind of promote the

book before it comes out.

Maybe they DO have that kind of money, I don't know.

But, I am going to tell you how you can find books to read for free or cheap.

Yes, you can feed your addiction without going broke.

Or as my kid would call it , "broke five broke.

We ain't

got it."

#1 is the Overdrive app.

This is probably the most handy thing and it's revlutionized the way I read, the way

I have access to books.

It's through the library, but if you are a busy, professional woman such as myself, or

man, you don't have time to always go to the library.

Ot another problem Iwas having was I would go to the library and then procrastinate in

returning the bookss and constatly be late.

ha!

Or I would put something on hold and not be able to get to the library in the 2-3 days

that it took before they reshelved it, to go pick it up.

So, the Overdrive app delivers the books directly to your smartphone, your tablet, whatever

device you download the app on, it works on Androids and iPhone devices.

What you do is put in your library number, you find your library on the app, add your

library card number, your passcode or whatever they require for you to get in, and then it

gives you access to the lending library of audiobooks and Kindle books.

Whaaaaat?!

Yes!

yes, you have full access to audiobooks and I say Kindle books, but they don't have to

be delviered to a Kindle.

They can be read directly on your device of your choice or just right there on your smartphone

using the web browser; however you best wat to consume it.

That's where I probably do 90, maybe 85% of my reading.

Um, it was either downloading stuff form that app directly to my Kindle or listening to

the audiobook on my iPhone.

It's SO handy.

So handy!

And free!

It's free!

It's through the library; totally fre.

And because it's all digital, you don't have to worry about going to the library to return

it because they just revoke your access to it and pull it back whenever time's up.

So you don't have to physically return it.

Although, the problem I run into is I go on a borrowing frenzy and then am not able to

listen to or read everything in time.

So that's one thing to keep in mind is that you may have to go back and recheck stuff

out wait in line for it to become available, and get to it then.

#2: Netgalley.com.

This is where you'll see some people getting advance reader copies (ARCs) of books.

Now, if you're not a huge booktuber, like for example, I'm not huge, people aren't sending

me stuf in advance in the hopes that I'll read it, I don't get anny sort of special

favors, so what I'll do is I'll go to Netgalley.com and if there's a book that's going to come

out in the near future hat looks good, I'll go ahead and put in a request on it there.

Now they do favor people who actually review books.

So if you have an account on Goodreads where you review books, if you give your ratings,

or if you have a blog like I have where you review books, again my audience is not very

big, so I don't get automatically approved.

In fact, I don't get approved for at least half of the stuff I request.

But, every now and then, I get some good stuff, like The Girl Before, I got to read Sophie

Kinsella's latest book before it came out, Fitness Junkie, I got to read that before

it came out...I've gotten some really good finds that people have approved me for, surprisingly

enough.

So netgalley.com.

get over there and you might be able to read some stuff before it comes out.

The only thing they ask in return is just an unbiased, honest review.

#3 is the Kindle, and I know this is kind of cheating.

This is not really free, nor cheap.

The thing is, you have to buy the Kindle, and then one of the free options that I'm

going to recommend, you have to buy the Amazon Prime membership.

So that's a $200-$300 right there before you've even started.

But, if you have a Kindle, which is the e-reader from Amazon, and if you have an Prime account

with Amazon, which is, I think the going rate right now is somewhere around $100 per year,

then they have a lending library

where they have lots of Prime books available for you to read for free

on your Kindle. Now, they used to have a limit of 1 Prime book you could borrow per month.

I don't now if they still have that limit on there, or if you can do multiples in a month.

But, there's that option.

You can also find a lot of Kindle versions of books for cheaper than you would find in their paper counterparts.

because it's digitized, their delivery method is a lot cheaper.

They don't have all of the production costs,

the materials, the shipping, all that go into it.

It's literally just a digital copy, so oftentimes, you can find a Kindle book under $10.

So, I know there's an initial investment with that,

but it's just so handy. It's so convenient!

I held out for the longest time on not getting a Kindle because,

as you can tell,

I love the tactile experience of reading.

I love turning the pages, pointing at certain things,

It's wonderful!

I held out for so long. But when I finally got my Kindle, it was like "What took me so long?"

If you get the paperwhite version, it's a lot easier on your eyes.

If you try to do your reading on Kindle Fire or an iPad, there'll be a lot more eyestrain because it's backlit.

The Kindle paperwhite is lit by different means, so it looks more like an actual page that you're looking at.

So I recommend it, even though technically it's not free or cheap.

But the books you can get afterwards are cheap.

Now, an honorable mention that I didn't talk about here because i've done a whole other video on this is thrift stores!

Used bookstores are great, too.

Thrift stores are where you can go to find a diamond in the rough,

you can find books that are out of print,

books that you might not have thought about doing,

but since it's only like $1 or even less, you might as well give it a try.

I have a whole video where I talk about thrift store finds.

I've found some funky books that I read that I never would have come across otherwise.

They're wonderful!

DIY How to make Christmas garland with lights (ENG Subtitles) - Speed up #413 - Duration: 3:06.

Hi. Today I will show you how to make Christmas garland with lights.

I made this video by request from my viewer.

Detailed list of all needed items is in the description of this video.

First cut the template. (In the description you can also find an English template "Merry Christmas")

Next, apply a glitter and let it dry.

Cut a piece of ribbon around 30cm long.

Fold it in a bow.

Tie it in a middle.

Fold the end of ribbon in a half...

...and cut off a corner.

Make 4 bows as this one.

Tie an end of string of lights to the garland.

Wrap the lights around the garland.

Tie the lights to the garland in a few spots.

Attach a thread to the ends of text.

Attach the text to the garland.

Add the thread in a middle of text.

Attach bows on the sides of text.

Next, attach a flower...

...and another bow.

Do the same on the second end of garland.

And it's done.

This garland is a nice Christmas decoration.

You can hang it in a window, on a wall or use it to decorate a door.

Of course you can decorate it in other ways. For example by using Christmas balls.

Please give a like to this video and subscribe to my channel.

Thanks for watching. Bye bye.

Bar Design - How To Size A Walk-In Cooler For A Draft Beer System - Duration: 5:02.

Hey, Rick Uzubell again from Cabaret Design Group, talking today about

"Bar Design - How To Size A Walk-In Cooler For A Draft Beer System" Coming up!

equipment and gift ideas and if you're new here, definitely subscribe!

What size walk-in cooler do you need? If you're planning a draft beer system, I'll help

you with the design criteria to select the right walk-in cooler. Stay tuned!

First, a little background information is necessary in making any purchasing

decision. There are two types of walk-in coolers: prefabricated and built-to-order,

as you see here. This story is about the prefabricated variety, as shown in this photo.

This type of walk-in cooler consists of

urethane panels and is economical, easy to expand and relocate. The elements that

compose the walk-in cooler are the walls, floor, door and refrigeration system.

The walls, which range from 3 1/2" to 5" in thickness,

consist of insulation sandwiched between thin sheets of galvanized steel

or aluminum. As I mentioned in an earlier post (reference below) walk-in coolers

used for beer walls require special design and engineering. Many owners will

utilize a rack system to make more efficient use of the cube and in such

applications, a floor system is impractical. Refrigeration systems can be

mounted overhead, as seen here, or on a side panel, if the room has a low ceiling.

The door should have a self-closing mechanism, such as the one shown here,

in order to conserve energy. Walk-in coolers can be installed indoors and outdoors

and are offered by numerous companies in a wide-variety of quick-ship sizes, as

shown in this chart. Up next: Be careful how you use your walk-in cooler!

Draft beer requires that the temperature be carefully maintained between 36 and 38

degrees Fahrenheit and this is impossible to maintain when the door is

being constantly open and closed. Rising temperatures in walk-in coolers -- even

one or two degrees Fahrenheit, will result in

excessive foaming and lost profits. Therefore, cased beer should never be stored in the same

walk-in cooler as your draft beer. The size of a walk-in cooler is driven by

the amount of beer you sell and the number of brands. A small walk-in cooler

can be selected if a bar sells a moderate amount of draught beer. The bar

shown here is a system featuring 10 brands of draft beer. As with most bars,

it's important to carry at least three of the largest U.S. domestic beers, such as

Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors. Therefore, in this example, that means we

have to accommodate space for seven craft beers. As shown in this chart, the

U.S. domestics are commonly sold in 1/2 barrels, which are 15.5 gallons,

and craft beers are most commonly sold in sixtels, which are 1/6 barrels and 5.16 gallons

and less commonly in slim 1/4 barrels, which

are 7.75 gallons. Barrels need to be stacked inside the

walk-in cooler, as shown in this photo. Half barrels are normally stacked in

racks and the craft beers are commonly stacked with a device known as a "keg

series spacer," such as the one manufactured by DeVault and featured by

many web retailers. The advantage of the keg series spacer is that it allows two

kegs of the same product to be connected to the glycol system. Getting back to our

example, I designed the walk-in cooler to have seven brands of sixtels along

one long wall -- double-stacked, four slim 1/4-barrels along the opposite wall --

double-stacked and three 1/2-barrels -- double-stacked on the end wall.

Each of the smaller barrels has a row of back-ups

in front of it, designated in red. This layout can be downloaded at the end of this article.

The capacity of this 6' x 8 ' walk-in cooler is: (21) sixtels, (12) slim

1/4-barrels and (6) 1/2-barrels. This means that a total of 14 brands can be

stored in this walk-in cooler. Of course, depending on the popularity of certain

products, that configuration could easily be changed.
