Today we're going to talk about how to be happy with your life. You don't have
to change where you work you don't have to change who you're around you just
have to change what you believe how is it we can do some amazing and sometimes
unexplainable things like heal our own bodies by the power of our thought
mother's intuition the law of attraction can we really tap into our subconscious
mind can we really create our own realities it begs the question are we
novice gods okay today we are talking about how to be happy with your life so
years ago we were friends with a woman who when she was an intern she worked at
on the David Letterman Show and she was invited to go to the Oscars for the big
Oscar event and she told us about this experience so you know we see these
movie stars and these actors and they just are exuding everything we want in
life right I mean they're they're wealthy
they're famous they have everything they could possibly want and possibly need
and she said something interesting to me that's always kind of stuck with me she
says it was really interesting to watch these people and when the camera was on
them they were on stage they knew where the camera was and they knew what was
going on and they were happy and they were successful and they were the
example of exactly what you want to be in life and yet when the cameras would
go off she watched their faces just fall she watched sadness and despair and
discouragement and she and she says it was just this palatable feeling that you
could feel in the room well anyway that always has just kind of stuck with me
that you know that these pictures these images that we see of true success and
true happiness isn't really as satisfying as maybe we think it is
so anyway just kind of want to plant that seed in your mind that may be the
direction that you've been going maybe what you've believed about where
happiness is and what happiness and what success is maybe that's not exactly
what's going to bring you the true joy that you want in your life
so so the next thing that I want to point out to you is that happiness a
happy filled life won't just happen by accident you know a lot of times we get
stuck with this myth that you're either happy or you're not you know you're
either born with happiness or you're not and if you're not there's nothing you
can do about it that is a total complete myth and anyway I hope to shake you just
enough to get you to believe that happiness is possible for you right now
and you don't have to change anything else other than your beliefs now one
other thing I want to talk about is that we in society we live with this idea of
what success is and we follow the follow the pattern blindly thinking that it's
going to give us great success okay so let me tell you another story so I have
a friend of mine lives over on the East Coast he's been a CEO multiple times has
moved around company to company he's making hundreds and hundreds and
hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and I talked to him a few years ago
about this and kind of where he was and he was saying Scott I am so frustrated
this is not what I signed up for he says I I look at my life sometimes and I
think really is this all there is you know I used to think the money was gonna
mean something and it doesn't mean anything anymore
they talked to me about how he felt like he was checking all the boxes you know
that corporate America had lied to him and said if you do this and do this and
do this then you will be successful and if you're safe
and you'll be rich and you'll be successful and then if you were those
two you'll be happy well he wasn't he felt very unfulfilled he felt like his
life didn't have meaning that he was directionless and he was really
frustrated well let me share with you that happiness is an inside-out process
that's where you're gonna find true happiness Wow it just got really bright
in here let me just turn this down if I can whoop there we go
hopefully that's just a little bit better it's a little too bright okay so
anyway I just wanted to share with you that happiness is an inside-out process
you don't have to have something you don't have to be something you don't
have to do something that is outside of what you are right now you simply need
to change your beliefs and we're going to talk about three main beliefs that if
you change these right now will change your life because you can be happy now
so the first one is gratitude gratitude is this amazing thing I think it's a
skill that if you have you have just the abundance of life okay now let me
explain a little bit about what gratitude is gratitude is recognizing
you were the recipient of deliberate kindness in other words somebody loves
you somebody loves you enough to do some kind fortunate thing for you and your
life is blessed and better because of it and when you recognize that when you
recognize this exchange of love isn't that doesn't that feel good I've heard
people say you can't be grateful and unhappy at the same time so if you're
unhappy now there's something you can do about it because you can be grateful no
now it just got really dark like that / / / / / oh yeah we'll go this way okay
somewhere in there okay so anyway that is the secret if you can boost your
gratitude levels then you can be happy now well this is kind of crazy light
sorry about this okay so skill number two is to savor them now to be
completely present completely present where you're at right now completely you
know if you're with somebody be all there if you're alone that's okay
be right there you know meditation is this wonderful thing that makes a huge
difference in our lives because it helps you really stop and calm down and be one
with yourself you know you feel your heart beat again you pay attention to
your breath you pay attention to your posture pay attention to what's going on
around you and as you're doing that as you start to be
fully present and savor just really enjoy right now then suddenly you're
able to buy anyway you're not looking for the future you're not anticipating
something that's going to come and save you you know looking back with dread and
something in your past that somehow has ruined your life you are right here and
when you're right here you're fine you're good you're whole you're complete
so anyway skill number two is to savor the now skill number three that I want
to share with you there are more skills of course but I just want to share these
three with you the third one is to foster positive
relationships now there is a there's a study they did it's called the Harvard
grant study and it is the longest longitudinal study ever done you know
it's over 70 years long that they studied these men some of whom went to
Harvard and some became US presidents presidents of banks and big corporations
some drank themselves to death some had schizophrenia and other mental problems
you know they just kind of ran the gamut they also studied a whole bunch of young
men who grew up in Harlem and they got a they watched both groups together for 70
years the funny thing was is whenever they would talk to the people and the
young men that had grown up in Harlem they these guys would always say why
would why do you want to talk to us and yet when they talked to the guys from
Harlem or from that graduated from Harvard they never asked that question
anyway what they found when they got all the research together is they found that
the one determining factor on having a happy healthy successful life was the
quality of their relationships you have the opportunity to get happy now
changing your beliefs changing being fully present feeling gratitude and
fostering those positive relationships that you have right now that you can
make with friends that you can enhance that you could make even better these
are skills that you have available to you right
now you can be happy with your life it is an inside-out process and you have
the abilities to create the exact kind of life you'd like now I do want to say
