The first ladies got to spend some time together on Tuesday,... having afternoon tea time and

discussing Korea's culture and history.

Lee Unshin has more on their brand of diplomacy.

On the day of U.S. President Trump's arrival in Korea, it wasn't just the bilateral summit

between the leaders of Seoul and Washington that took the spotlight.

On Tuesday, the first lady of the U.S., Melania Trump, also made local headlines by engaging

in a rather, different kind of diplomacy; involving sports and gender equality.

While her husband visited Camp Humphreys, the new home of the U.S. Eighth Army outside

Seoul,...Mrs. Trump traveled to the U.S. ambassador's residence in the capital, to attend the launch

event of "Girls Play 2," which aims to encourage girls to be more active and boost opportunities

for them to play sports.

Alongside dozens of school kids and the head of the PyeongChang 2018 organizing committee...the

first lady stressed the valuable skills children can learn through sports, and that girls,

too, love being athletic just like boys.

(English) "As we look forward to the Olympics, I call

on all of us to encourage even more girls to play sports.

Let's give girls and boys equal access to sports facilities, equipment and to cultures.

Let's remind the world girls play too."

She added that the upcoming 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics will provide a platform for

the world to come together under a shared love for sports.

Later in the day, at the presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae, Mrs. Trump sat down with

Korea's first lady, Kim Jung-sook.

The two ladies talked about Korea's culture, history and hopes for many more years of a

prosperous alliance,....over some afternoon tea.

CNN 10 | November 8, 2017 | Election Day in the U.S. - Duration: 10:01.

Hi.

I'm Carl Azuz for CNN 10, your daily down- the-middle explanation of world events.

We're starting with news concerning Saudi Arabia.

Significant changes are being made in the Middle Eastern country.

This is an absolute monarchy.

Its crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, was appointed by his father, King Salman, two

years ago.

And since then, the

nation has gone through what one CNN reporter describes a top to bottom overhaul.

We reported in late September how the government had decided to allow women to drive.

Saudi Arabia was the last nation on earth where that was

illegal, but it's also what experts call one of the most religiously conservative Islamic

countries, and there were some Saudis who disagreed

with the decision.

Crown Prince bin Salman has promised to destroy what he called extremist ideologies and work

to return Saudi Arabia to a, quote, more moderate

Islam.

He's trying to reshape Saudi Arabia's economy, reducing its dependence on oil sales.

The nation is leading in international group to fight terrorism.

It's executed dozens of people on terrorism charges.

It's playing a major role

in the civil war of neighboring Yemen, with Saudi Arabia leading international airstrikes,

targeting rebels who were supported by Iran and

trying to take control of Yemen.

And over the weekend, more than 17 Saudi princes and top government officials were arrested

on corruption charges.

This includes people who've

been described as some of the wealthiest figures in the Arab world.

Regarding all of this, experts and observers have been using words like shocking, historic

and even revolutionary.

And globally, Saudi Arabia's

changes have been met with criticism, as well as praise, and caution, as well as trust.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

SUBTITLE: The One Thing: Saudi Arabia's changes.

BECKY ANDERSON, CNN INTERNATIONAL ANCHOR: One thing you need to know about what is going

on in Saudi Arabia is the phase of change is fast and

unprecedented.

The person driving these changes, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a 32-year-old

who rose to power just two years ago.

He's the man calling all the shots and his latest moves inside and outside the country

show that he means business.

Take this for example.

Earlier this year, he said in an interview, he won't tolerate corruption at any level

by anyone.

Now, a newly formed

anti-corruption squad has gone after a high number of high profile princes and businessmen,

sending a clear signal of the prince's intent.

His critics say the crown prince is just making a power play and removing potential rivals

before he ascends the throne.

But to his supporters, it's

all part of his plan to transform the kingdom.

And that same zeal for action can be seen in Saudi foreign policy, with a much more

muscular

posture towards its arch rival Iran, in places like Yemen and Lebanon.

An active new leadership upending traditions, we have ended a new era and no matter what,

the results will be dramatic.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

AZUZ: It wasn't a presidential election.

That's was last year, and the next ones in 2020.

It wasn't a congressional midterm election.

Those are

every two years and the next one is 2018.

But it was the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, and that means Americans across

the country went to the polls.

They were voting in state

and local elections, from Washington to Georgia.

A lot of the attention was centered on the governor's races in New Jersey and Virginia.

Why?

Because at recent decades, the political party that

loses the presidential election usually wins the next year's gubernatorial races in those

two states.

So, last year, a Republican won the presidency, so Democratic candidates were expected to

be chosen as governors in New Jersey and Virginia, though

the race in Virginia had tightened up, according to polls before the vote.

You can get results on the races at CNN.com.

Both major parties will be scrutinizing the outcomes of yesterday's votes to help form

their

strategies for next year's congressional midterm elections.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ (voice-over): Ten-second trivia:

Which of these world capitals has the largest population?

Washington, D.C., London, U.K., Beijing, China, or New Delhi, India?

With more than 25.7 million residents, according to the CIA, New Delhi is the most populated

capital on this list.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

AZUZ: And it's one of the most polluted.

In fact, an Indian doctor says air quality conditions in New Delhi right now are so bad

that breathing

there is like smoking 50 cigarettes a day.

The Indian medical association has declared a state of medical emergency.

It's asked the government to take urgent action to cancel an upcoming

marathon.

Some officials have been asked to consider shutting schools, extreme air pollution in

New Delhi is nothing new.

Fires, traffic, dust,

industries, they all contribute.

But right now, there's not much wind to blow pollutants away.

And according to the British Broadcasting Corporation, Delhi's problem is worst in

winter because farmers in nearby areas burn crops double at that

time.

That adds to the haze hanging over the capital.

Some air quality instruments can't even measure the spikes in pollution.

They're literally

off the scale.

The government is trying to address this by regulating traffic.

But even that may not be enough.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ALEXANDRA FIELD, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): This is worst than bad.

Not the traffic, actually, there's less about the normal.

It's the air.

To help clear it, Delhi's government says these steps are necessary.

A temporary ban giving odd numbered cars off the road on even days, and even

numbered cars off the road on odd days, an attempt to target a toxic problem, pollution.

(on camera): When you walk through the streets of Delhi, you can't help but see it, of

course, and smell it.

But the most disturbing part is you

can actually taste it in your mouth, if you're not used to being here, you can feel it burning

in your throat.

In fact, the city's highest court

recently said that living in Delhi was like living in a gas chamber.

So, those are the conditions that some 20 million people face every single day.

There are 9 million registered cars on the streets of Delhi, 1400 more cars come on the

roads each day.

So, while cars are only part of the problem,

every driver is being asked to be part of the solution, and the reason people who are

out here to remind you.

(voice-over): Following the rules, (INAUDIBLE) takes a walk, followed by a ride on rickshaw.

Then there's a 30-minute train ride, followed by a rush

through throngs of commuters and another rickshaw ride -- all that to get to work.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: That's like one hour and 15 minutes to reach office.

FIELD: So, is this working?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Without taking emergency action, pollution levels would have been much

higher.

And so, what this scheme has done is to play

a role to moderate the high pollution levels.

FIELD: Clearly, cars are part of the city's pollution problem because of their numbers,

because of congestion, because of toxic emissions.

But the

odd-even rule doesn't cut Delhi's pollution in half.

There are a lot of exceptions, public vehicles, high ranking officials, motorcycles and women

traveling alone.

It's just a temporary measure, just one of a number of attempts to fight pollution,

including a ban on large diesel SUVs and

higher taxes on commercial trucks coming into the city.

(on camera): When it comes to a long-term solution, odd-even exchange wouldn't be

enough to move the needle?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, absolutely not.

FIELD: There is a consequences that too many other factors contribute to the city's pollution,

and the more practical matter on everyone's mind.

Delhi's public transit system couldn't handle it.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So, for the first time, I think people in Delhi are talking about

public transport and I think that's the pressure that needs

to be built on government for the systemic change.

FIELD: That would be the giant leap.

Activists hope it starts with these smaller steps.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

AZUZ: Over the weekend, I had the chance to see autumn paint the great Smokey Mountains

bright yellow, orange and red.

It's a typical sight this

time of year in the U.S. state of Tennessee, but not for everyone.

One man who's color blind says this looks like all one color to him.

The Tennessee Department of Tourism changed that.

It installed new viewfinders at scenic places that allow people with color blindness to

see

the vivid changes and color.

It was a first for several visitors to spot over Gatlinburg, including a man who described

as simply awesome and said

he now understands why people come up here.

For the trees, of course, the changes are autumnatic.

But all things being equinox, it's often worth the harvestment to take leap of a city

and season

your life with a beauty that's easy to fall for.

At the grand state dinner held at the Blue House late Tuesday,...

President Moon Jae-in reaffirmed the strength of the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

He stressed that the two sides will stand firm against North Korea's provocations and

adding that the history of war on the peninsula should never be repeated.

(Korean) "The peace that was fought for with blood

from Korea and America is again being threatened, but the strength of the South Korea-U.S. alliance

is preventing that threat growing."

President Trump responded by saying that the alliance, which has grown stronger by withstanding

hardships together, is built on a foundation of great friendship.

(English) "We have been proud to stand by your side

for many decades as an unwavering friend and loyal ally.

And you have never had a time where this ally has been more loyal or stood by your side

more than right now."

Seung-youn , Hanjin Group patriarch Cho Yang-ho , Vice chair of LG Group, Koo Bon-joon and

Samsung Electronics chief executive Yoon Boo-keun .

in Korea and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, who sat at the same table as Chung

Eui-sun , Vice Chair of Korea's largest automaker Hyundai Motor Group.

The seating arrangement served as an opportunity to exchange views and pave the way for the

two sides to resolve contentious issues related to the amendment of the South Korea-U.S. free

trade agreement,... as well as tougher U.S. regulations, including anti-dumping measures

imposed on Korean automobile and steel exports.

Show Us Your Junk - Jimmy's Bikes - Duration: 7:54.

G'day and welcome to another installment of show us your junk

yes so I put the first one up, Mick Horley's GSX750E and it seemed to be

reasonably well received so alright we'll keep moving forward

this one this bike is

is not one of those super cool custom garage built jobbies

but it is a bike that's near 'n' dear to my heart

because it belongs to my son James

so the poor kid never stood a chance come from from a family of motorcycle

enthusiasts

and you know he he loved he used to love when he was a kid he used to love playing

in the mud

he played footy from when he was like five or six years old right up until he

got his apprenticeship and then he wisely made the decision to hang up the

boots so that he could be there to get...hello (motorcycles for sale)

be there to um... front up for work on a Monday morning

without having his shoulder strapped or whatever

anyway I digress but when he loved when he played footy

his best games were in the mud he loves it

so what better thing to get a kid for Christmas

then something he can go and seriously play in the mud with

so...I'm not quite sure how old he was

maybe 8, 9, 10 somewhere around there

bought him a PeeWee 80 for his first bike

and he took to it like a duck to water

but yeah, of course, his sister who's never been shy on confidence decided that

in our own assertive way that she wanted to be in on the act as well so we

ultimately had to get her a bike too - but that's digressing

so anyway we bought the peewee 80 and I bought it it was a bit knocked around

bought it second hand set about giving it a bit of a reno

with a bit of help from the old man hiding it in his shed etc

yeah ultimately we surprise him with it

and the peewee 80 it got a fair bit of airtime got used a lot and then

ultimately he out grew it I wanted to buy something reliable

that was safe to continue to learn on

so I I went for the tried and tested Yamaha

two strokes that they've been using in their bikes for

decades and I got an RT 100 and he loved that bike and he rode it

everywhere I upgraded his sister ultimately then to a TTR125 and James

inherited the CRF 100 and that was his only digression from

Yamaha and he then in 2012 I think it was I bought him a brand spanking new

TTR 250 and it was a

a very good bike and he had it for the longest time and

then

then he bought himself

a the bike currently has now which is a WR 400 and I think it's a 2000 model

it's not a not a new bike

and but he loves it it wasn't in great

condition when he got it but he took it to work so James is an apprentice

motorcycle mechanic with a yamaha dealership in Queensland

he took it to work and

he pull the thing apart it had valve clearance issues and

some electrical problems eventually you know he worked through it and sorted it

out and got himself a good bike threw a sticker kit on it and now he

just loves it him and his mates go out riding all the time

I had the pleasure of him joining me at Wellington in New South Wales for the

XS1100 rally where his work gave him a a bike to ride for the weekend

and I'll just enjoy being able to spend a bit of time with with Jimmy because

he lives with his mum in Queensland which is if you're not an Australian

that's yeah two and a half thousand kilometres and across a stretch of water

from where I live

yeah he just uh

chuck's the bike on his ute and he goes out with his mates and he just

absolutely loves it and it's good to see and he will eventually he keeps

threatening to buy a road bike he loves it

I guess you know on a second-year apprentices wages it's probably

not that easy or though given the contacts and the position that he's in he

could probably get something fairly cheap and either repair it or

get something cheap enough that he can

he can he can ride straight away yeah that was a just a short one

oh well that's another installment out the way

Jimmy's WR 2000 WR400 and all the bikes in between

thanks for watching don't forget to Like subscribe and comment and I'll catch you

next time on Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions bye for now

you

North Korea vows to use nuclear weapons to defend sovereignty against US military drills - Duration: 4:44.

North Korea vows to use nuclear weapons to defend sovereignty against US military drills

The despotic regime vowed to respond to "hostile acts" in one of the states propaganda mouthpieces.

The paper said: "As long as the US and its followers continue their hostile acts against us, we will further bolster our nuclear, treasured sword of justice, defend our sovereignty and justice with nuclear weapons." They claim the US is raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula to an extreme level by sending three nuclear-powered aircraft carriers to carry out joint military drills with South Korea.

It also claimed threats to mobilise nuclear strategic weapons are foolish and will continue to bolster the "strength of justice" to prevent invasions.

It comes after the US Navy carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan, conducted three days of drills with a Japanese destroyer and two Indian warships.

Tensions in the region have heightened after began his 12-day tour of Asia beginning arriving in South Korea today.

Japans Maritime Self Defence Force said in a press release: "The exercise helped improve fighting skills and deepened cooperation with India." The 100,000-tonne Reagan is the US Navys most powerful warship in Asia, carrying 70 combat aircraft and is based in Japan.

The Reagan will join two other carriers in the Western Pacific, the USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt, in a reminder to Pyongyang of the US ability to rapidly mobilise, US officials said.

is not expected to visit the heavily fortified border between North and South Korea during his visit to the peninsula. But he will discuss the threat posed by with Chinese and South Korean leaders.

He met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the families of Japanese citizens abducted by the regime on Sunday. Today he will meet the new South Korean President Moon Jae-in as well as American and South Korean service personnel.

The White House said: "The President will speak at the National Assembly, where he will celebrate the enduring alliance and friendship between the United States and the Republic of Korea, and call on the international community to join together in maximizing pressure on North Korea." will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and take part in a series of bilateral, commercial, and cultural events in China.

The US President tweeted that he and the first lady Melania Trump were looking forward to being with President Xi and Madame Peng Liyuan for "what will hopefully be a historic trip.".

However, White House officials and Asian leaders are concerned that may attempt to disrupt President trip to Asia by conducting a missile test — or even an atmospheric nuclear test.

The feared nuclear explosion could be visible to the US President as he tours Japan and South Korea. Previously North Korea conducted all testing underground, leading to a tunnel collapse that caused the death of around 200 workers.

South Korean intelligence has detected activity at a missile facility that would be consistent with a coming test launch.

One Asian diplomat claimed it was impossible to predict what might do, but said a missile test would offer an opportunity for the US and its allies to "show solidarity" against Kim's despotic regime.

World War 3? US and EU back Lebanon amid row with Saudi Arabia – Gulf CATASTROPHE feared - Duration: 3:59.

World War 3?

US and EU back Lebanon amid row with Saudi Arabia – Gulf CATASTROPHE feared

THE European Union has echoed US support for Lebanon following the resignation of prime

minister Saad al-Hariri while Saudi Arabia's claim that Beirut has declared war threatens

strained ties in the Middle East.

EU ambassadors to Lebanon said they reaffirmed "their strong support for the continued unity,

stability, sovereignty, and security of Lebanon and its people".

They also called "on all sides to pursue constructive dialogue and to build on the work achieved

in the last 11 months towards strengthening Lebanon's institutions and preparing parliamentary

elections in early 2018, in adherence with the Constitution".

On Tuesday, US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert issued a declaration of support

to Lebanon amid growing unrest in the Middle East.

She said: "The United States strongly supports the legitimate institutions in the Lebanese

state.

"We expect all members of the international community to respect fully those institutions

and the sovereignty and political independence of Lebanon."

The EU and US support comes after Saudi Arabia accused the Middle Eastern country of declaring

war following "aggression" against the kingdom by Shia group Hezbollah.

Saudi Gulf affairs minister Thamer al-Sabhan said the Iran-backed Lebanese group had attacked

his country.

In an interview with Al-Arabiya TV, he said the Lebanese administration would now be "dealt

with as a government declaring war on Saudi Arabia".

He claimed Hezbollah's actions "were considered acts of a declaration of war against Saudi

Arabia by Lebanon and by the Lebanese Party of the Devil".

Al-Sabhan said the message had also been delivered to Lebanese prime minister Saas al-Hariri,

a Saudi ally.

Al-Hariri resigned at the weekend saying he feared an assassination plot against him,

accusing Iran and Hezbollah of threatening peace in the Middle East.

After the shock exit, al-Sabhan tweeted: "Lebanon, after the resignation, will never be the same

as before.

"It will not accept to be in any case a platform for launching terrorism to our countries."

Lebanese president Michel Aoun, a Hezbollah ally, has refused to accept Hariri's resignation,

saying he first wants him to return to Lebanon so he can meet him in person to understand

the reasons.

Despite Washington's decision to side with Lebanon on this issue, the US has joined Saudi

Arabia in pointing the finger at Iran for the recent failed missile attack on Riyadh.

While President Trump continues his 12-day tour of Asia, the White House has condemned

the missile attack by Yemen's Houthi militias on Saudi Arabia and said Iran "enabled" the

launch amid increasing instability in the Middle East.

In a statement, the White House said: "Houthi missile attacks against Saudi Arabia, enabled

by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, threaten regional security and undermine UN

efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict."

The news comes after Saudi Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman accused Iran of arming militias

- something he branded a "clear act of aggression" which could be considered "an act of war".

Iran has denied the accusations and instead mocked Saudi Arabia.

The country's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif posted on Twitter this week: "KSA

[the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia] bombs Yemen to smithereens, killing 1000s of innocents

including babies, spreads cholera and famine, but of course blames Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump addresses South Korea's National Assembly - Duration: 3:22.

Trump became the first American leader to address the nation's parliament in nearly

a quarter-century.

His speech mainly centered on North Korea,... warning the regime of the dangerous path it's

on, and calling on countries including China and Russia to fully implement UNSC resolutions.

Kim Min-ji has the highlights of his message.

Trump's address to the National Assembly, the first by a sitting U.S. president in 24

years,... was relatively reserved with no surprises.

But he did send a stern message to North Korea during his speech,... which lasted over half

an hour.

Trump said the weapons that Pyongyang possesses,... are not making the regime safer,... but putting

it in grave danger.

(English) "Every step you take down this dark path increases

the peril you face.

North Korea is not the paradise your grandfather envisioned.

It is a hell that no person deserves."

In fact, the North Korea nuclear issue has topped Trump's Asia tour,... following a series

of missile launches,... as well as the North's most powerful nuclear test back in September.

He said that the world cannot tolerate the menace of the rogue regime and its threats

of nuclear devastation,... calling on the international community, including China and

Russia, to fully implement UN Security Council resolutions,... downgrade diplomatic relations

with the regime and sever all ties involving trade and technology.

(English) "All responsible nations must join forces

to isolate the brutal regime of North Korea, to deny it and any form, any form of it, you

cannot support, you cannot supply, you cannot accept.

It is our responsibility and our duty to confront this danger together, because the longer we

wait, the greater the danger grows and the fewer the options become."

For America's part,... Trump said the U.S. will not be intimidated by the North,... and

neither will he permit his country or his allies to be threatened or attacked.

The U.S. leader warned Pyongyang that while America does not seek conflict or confrontation,...

it will NOT run from it.

(English) "This is a very different administration than

the United States has had in the past.

Today I hope I speak not only for our countries, but for all civilized nations when I say to

the North,...

Do not underestimate us.

And do not try us."

However, Trump did say that the U.S. will offer Pyongyang a better path... should it

cease its threats and dismantle its nuclear program,... despite the crimes it has committed.

(Standup) "There had been concerns that he would step

up his rhetoric... as he has done previously,... especially this being the only parliamentary

address during his five nation Asia tour.

It was instead was more or less in line with the comments he made Tuesday during summit

talks with President Moon Jae-in,... in which he called on North Korea to come to the table

and make a deal.

Kim Min-ji, Arirang News."

USA vs North Korea: This is the US military arsenal poised to WIPE OUT Kim's threat

The US President has travelled to the region for a 12-day tour and is expected to be high on his agenda for meetings with South Koreas Moon Jae-in, Chinas Xi Jinping, Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe and Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Trump vowed to totally destroy North Korea if it poses a threat to the US or its allies in a speech to the UN in September, to which the North Korean leader branded Trump mentally deranged while his foreign minister remarked that Pyongyang could consider a hydrogen bomb test of an unprecedented scale on the Pacific Ocean.

's UN ambassador Nikki Haley and the President himself have said "the time for talk is over", despite China, Russia, and other members of the US administration claiming dialogue remains the main aim.

The US military has a huge presence in the area around North Korea, particularly in Japan and increasingly close allies South Korea.

There are almost 40,000 US troops serving in Japan, more than in any other country, and earlier this year the US Air Force lined up a huge array of helicopters, tactical fighter jets and surveillance aircraft in a show of force aimed to intimidate Kim Jong-un.

Among the aircraft were HH-60 Pave Hawks, a twin-turboshaft helicopter primarily used for the insertion and rescue of special operation personnel.  The aircraft's versatility makes it incredibly useful in other operations too, including civilian rescue and disaster relief.

The F-15 Eagles, America's twin-engine, all-weather tactile fighter jets, are also stationed in the region and are among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat.

Also headquartered in Japan is the Seventh Fleet, the largest of the US navy's deployed sea forces.

The flagship carrier is the USS Ronald Reagan, a nuclear-powered aircraft supercarrier that forms part of "the most effective and agile fighting force in the world".   .

Also in the fleet are up to 14 destroyers and cruisers at any given time, some armed with ballistic missile interceptors.

A collection of long-range Tomahawk land missiles, which made headlines earlier this year when President Trump fired 59 of them at an airbase in Syria, joins the arsenal.

As if that wasn't enough, there are also 12 nuclear-powered submarines available should war break out.

South of the demilitarised zone (DMZ), the US has 23,468 troops at 83 different sites as well as hundreds of tanks and armoured vehicles, meaning there is always a heavy military presence should North Korea decide to launch a land attack.

There is also the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system, which, despite criticism from Beijing and Pyongyang, is ready and waiting to intercept missiles and destroy the incoming projectiles while in mid-flight.

Guam, the US territory that Kim Jong-un has threatened to fire four ballistic missiles towards, is also host to a huge military presence.  Much of the island is controlled by the armed forces and the Andersen air base hosts a range of bombers, resulting in Guam being dubbed a "permanent aircraft carrier".

Among the aircraft at the base are B-1B bombers, B-52 bombers and F-35B stealth fighters, some of the US Air Force's most impressive jets.

The B-1B bomber is heralded for its survivability and although initially designed to carry nuclear arms, it was converted to carry more conventional weaponry after the Cold War.

The US is believed to have at least six B-1B bombers stationed in Guam and is best suited to a 'medium threat environment', rather than a heavily defended airspace.

Speaking about plans for a possible preemptive strike on North Korea earlier this month, retired Admiral James Stavridis told NBC News: "The B-1b has also been selected because it has the added benefit of not being able to carry nuclear weapons.  "Military planners think that will signal China, Russia, and Pyongyang that the US is not trying to escalate an already bad situation any further. The B-52 was first introduced in 1955 and was originally designed to carry nuclear weapons during the Cold War.

It remains one of the most superior aircraft in the US Air Force.  The long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber is capable of carrying more than 30 tons of weapons.

The aircraft's fearsome appearance and reputation has resulted in the nickname BUFF, which stands for Big Ugly Fat F*****. The US also maintains a smaller presence in other countries in the region, including Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines.

US military aircraft use Thai runways while the US Navy will operate four warships out of Singapore by next year.

Tensions have been stepped across the region over recent days following North Korea firing a test missile over Japan. The provocative action saw South Korea and US forces drop bombs on the border of the hermit state.

Earlier today France warned the situation was extremely serious. Foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian warned a nuclear strike on Europe was possible and said a world war could erupt in months.

He said: The situation is extremely serious. we see North Korea setting itself as an objective to have, tomorrow or the day after, missiles that can transport nuclear weapons. In a few months that will be a reality..

U.S. President Donald Trump addresses South Korea's National Assembly - Duration: 3:28.

President Trump has now left for China.... but in Korea... he gave a speech to the National

Assembly,... the first address to parliament by a sitting U.S. president in nearly a quarter-century.

His speech mainly centered on North Korea,... warning the North of the dangerous path it's

on, and calling on countries including China and Russia to fully implement UN Security

Council resolutions.

Here's our Kim Min-ji with more on Trump's message.

US troops hailed 'Pacific victors' while Trump claims North Korea just 'HAS to work out'

Just hours before the and his wife Melania arrived in South Korea, the threatened "" over the Republican's "foolish remarks" which he made while in Japan.

Addressing the 8th US Army in Korea – which brandished the motto Pacific Victors! – about the situation with the hermit kingdom, he added: "Ultimately, it will all work out. It always works out.

"It has to work out." Trump's South Korea visit marks the closest he has come to the frontline of the nuclear standoff with North Korea.

The firebrand Republican was joined by South Korea's President Moon Jae-in for lunch alongside US and South Korean troops at Camp Humphreys.

The US base is located near Pyeongtaek, which lies about 60 miles (100 km) from the border with reclusive North Korea.

Trump praised the US' cooperation with South Korea and said he also planned to address trade issues in discussions with President Moon. He said: "There is great cooperation.

We have a terrific meeting scheduled on trade in a little while with President Moon and his representatives.

"And hopefully that will start working out and working out so that we create a lot of jobs in the United States which is one of the reasons that Im here..

His comments come after the US Navy aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan, conducted three days of drills with a Japanese destroyer and two Indian warships in the Sea of Japan.

The exercise involving five ships, which ended Monday, came amid heightened tension in the region over North Koreas ballistic missile and nuclear tests.

Japans Maritime Self Defence Force said: "The exercise helped improve fighting skills and deepened cooperation with India." The 100,000-ton Reagan, which is based in Japan carries around 70 combat aircraft and is the US Navys most powerful warship in Asia.

US officials had earlier confirmed the Reagan will join two other carriers in the Western Pacific, the USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt, in a potent reminder to Pyongyang of the US ability to rapidly mobilise military force.

Tweeting before he boarded Air Force One, the US President said: Getting ready to leave for South Korea and meetings with President Moon, a fine gentleman.

We will figure it all out! The White House said Trumps trip will demonstrate his hardline approach to North Korean nuclear and missile threats.

They will also discuss how to maintain the 28,500 US troops stationed in South Korea, which is said to be a costly measure despite tensions with the North.

Speaking ahead of the US President's visit, Van Jackson, a strategy fellow at the Centre for Strategic Studies at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand said more "heated rhetoric" against North Korea is expected.

He said: "Trumps visit is a huge variable. Its a great opportunity to show a unity of purpose against North Korea and reinforce the larger US commitment to Asia, but theres also a risk of provoking North Korea.

"We should brace for more heated rhetoric and some attempt to reassure South Korea. For most Presidents, those tasks would not be mutually exclusive. The problem is Trumps the wild card, not the reassurance guy..

SHOCK North Korea warning: US tells Kim Jong-un 'UNSEEN FORCES' are ready to STRIKE - Duration: 3:14.

SHOCK North Korea warning: US tells Kim Jong-un 'UNSEEN FORCES' are ready to STRIKE

have been ramping up their nuclear threats over the past few months and it has been feared the rogue state could strike during Mr Trump's trip to Asia.

The United States military has deployed defences to the region in case Kim Jong-un attempts to strike while the US President is in the region.

Speaking on , Admiral Robert Natter claimed he would not be "surprised" if the leader of the hermit kingdom decided to launch missiles during Mr Trump's Asia tour.

He said: "Well, history tells us Kim Jong-un is totally unpredictable as was his father and his grandfather. "I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't think it would be very smart."  Mr Natter said the US military was prepared if North Korea launched an offensive.  He said: "I think it is obvious that the US military has moved forces into the area.  "Some of which have been talked about and many quite frankly are going to be unseen if required.   .

"The reality is, no one within the United States leadership that I have spoken with is anxious to go and have to conduct military operations here.

"But we would not be responsible if we were not prepared to do so." President is expected to use his 12-day visit to four key Asian countries to try to develop a united front against Kim Jong-un.  Mr Trump's meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe come as North Korea has been ramping up is testing of nuclear weapons, with its most recent test being the most powerful.

The test took place on September 3 at the Punggye-ri Test Site which registered as a 5.7 magnitude earthquake by the South Korean government.  It was reported that a tunnel collapse in North Korea left 200 workers dead at the Punggye-ri testing facility at some point after the sixth test in September.

North Korea's dictator, has responded to Mr Trump's arrival in Asia with a new threat to the US, claimed the President will receive "merciless punishment." The threat comes after a senior diplomat from Pyongyang warned the United States to take the threat of a possible atmospheric nuclear test over the Pacific Ocean should be taken "literally", leading to World War 3 fears. .
