[HPA Q&A] What is a 'soft' and 'hard' rev limiter? How do they work? - Duration: 3:00.

Answering your performance engine building and tuning questions

Chris has asked,

"A soft rev limiter vs a hard rev limiter

and possible damage?"

Okay,

So, I think, probably,

the bigger thing that you're,

maybe getting to here is

the way a rev limiter,

limiter is integrated.

so, generally, there's two ways

of an ECU applying a rev limiter,

and these are either through fuel cutting,

or through ignition cutting.

now, on top of that, we do,

as you have mentioned, have a soft rev limiter

and a hard rev limiter.

So, how this works is, we'll have a point

in the engine rev range

where the ECU will begin what's called

soft cutting, soft limiting, soft rev limiting.

So, that's where it starts to begin

the rev limiting process.

So it might just be applying

a very small amount of cutting to

the fuel or ignition

depending how it's set up, at that point.

Now, if you are only just coming on

to the rev limiter, so you're just coming

up to it, and touching it,

it's probably not going to take

very much ignition or fuel cut

in order to control the RPM

and stop it rising.

If, on the other hand, you've got

an engine that's producing a lot of power,

and you're really aggressively hit

that rev limiter under wide open throttle,

and full power,

the soft cut will probably not be enough

to control the engine RPM,

and it will continue to rise.

And this is where the hard cut comes in.

So this may be, perhaps, 100 or 200 RPM

higher than the soft cut,

and at this point, all of the fuel

or all of the ignition is completely switched off,

to make sure that the RPM can't overshoot any further.

So that's the, the difference between

soft limiting and hard limiting.

However, what I touched on there,

was the difference between fuel

and ignition cutting.

ignition cutting can be quite

a dangerous option

particularly on engines where there are known

valve train issues.

So, a really classic example of this is

the Nissan SR20-DET;

if we're using, ignition cutting there,

for our rev limiter,

what's going to happen is,

when the ignition is cut,

we're going to end up with a full cylinder

full of unburnt fuel and air,

pass through the cylinder,

because it's not igniting it inside the cylinder.

And that can end up igniting

in the exhaust manifold.

Now, what happens there, is this

can be a sufficient to,

create a large pressure spike

inside the exhaust manifold.

Which, in turn, can be enough

to pop the exhaust valves back open

off their seat, and in turn this can

also upset the valve train,

it can pop rockers off,

and generally achieve all sorts of

nasty stuff that we really don't want happening.

So, definately, the safer option

in most instances is to use fuel cutting.

COSA PENSANO I CANADESI DEGLI ITALIANI // What do Canadians think about Italians (Sub Eng) - Duration: 5:48.

Hi everyone and welcome to this new video!

Today I wanted to talk

a little bit about the stereotypes that

Canadian have about Italians.

I've already made a video about te Canadian stereotypes

and I've said if

they are true or not,

but in this video I want to talk you about those stereotypes I've been asked personally

whan I said I was Italian.

First thing

and I think is THE stereotype

when you say that you're Italian is

It's true that you always eat pasta??

YES. We eat it always

and

I don't get why it's a big deal.

You eat maple syrup and bacon everyday and nobody says anything.

Then they always try to imitate you.

I remember when at my first job I've said

I was italian, all my collegues tried to

""""imitate""" italians.

And I was like "who the fuck talks like that?"

The Mamma mia it's really not a thing.

Nobody says that!!!

The next thing is when I said I was living in Venice...

I was trying to explain a little bit how Venice was structured.

We don't have cars, usually you walk or we move by boats etc

and nobody understood that.

And all of them were like "OHHH BOATS THAT'S SOOO COOL!"

I was trying to explain that there are buses who reach the city but just until one point, but after

in the city, you can't really do that. There're a lot of bridges.

And the bike??? WTF we have bridges!

They think that Venice is sort of an isolated island and nobody goes in or out from there.

Another thing happened during winter

When I talk I have a French accent and not a Quebecer one

then people start to think I'm French or Belgium or from any other french country.

Another stereotype is

the fact that if you come from a country that is not french then you can't speak french (WTF!!!))

They are like "Woooow you speak French! WHY??

Maybe because I came here to study?LOL

There're people out there who love to learn other language. Mind blow, right?

If you're italian, you can't speak French because why should you want to study it???

Other even asked me it French is a national language in Italy.

You should learn more geography people.

I wanted actually to say something else but I got lost.

I wanted to say that during the winter

people were pretty excited for me because they were thinking I was seeing snow for the first time.

I've already seen snow in my life people!

Okay, in Italy there's not so much but

I've seen it before. DUH.

You're not special ahhhaha

It's not something that you have just here.

Concerning the temperature, I always say that in Italy it's pretty hot during winter

and we have max 10°

Canadians start to laugh

and say that's bikini weather for us!

YEAH, I know it since it's been 2 years I moved to Canada.

They think that we are at the beach all year, eating pizza and saying mamma mia!

The last thing I've heard was

"Aren't you too white to be italian?"

Sorry if I'm white as my wall

I'm very sorry.

They think that Italy we are tanned all year.

I don't get tanned!

Sun doesn't love me!

I don't like it eighter, I don't get tanned and I don't even like it.

I'm very proud of being pale as an elf!

It's actually true that Italians are less white than me, and Istill wonder how they didn't kick me out from the country.

It was the strangest thing I've been asked.

That's all! I hope you like the video

and see you next time. Byeeee!

Liverpool's defense must be fixed - Here is How Jurgen Klopp can do it | News Now - transfer | #LFC - Duration: 2:44.

With Liverpool's defence, it is a problem which needs fixing, and Klopp knows it.

"We talk about this from the first match day, the only way to fix it is to stay strong

and work on it," he said afterwards.

How can Klopp do that, though?

Not only do his side concede goals, but they concede good chances; shots at goal from close

range, making them harder to save.

Here are some of suggestions for the German coach to contemplate.

Three-at-the-back is back in vogue.

Chelsea won the Premier League last season with this system, while Manchester City and

Tottenham have had success with it, the latter against Liverpool on Sunday.

For Liverpool, it would offer more solidity and potentially allow better cover to individual

errors.

With a three-man defence, it would allow Joe Gomez or Ragnar Klavan to join the current

centre-back pairing, and give support to a nervous back-line.

Alberto Moreno and Trent Alexander-Arnold also seem ideal wing backs in this system,

though it would leave fewer slots for the wealth of attacking talent at Klopp's disposal.

It is a move several supporters have been calling for in recent weeks, and there was

a glimpse of what could be during the defeat at Wembley.

The issue in selecting the former Charlton man at centre-back is twofold: he remains

inexperienced there, and the expectation will be great.

Similarly, with Nathaniel Clyne out, it would mean a right side of Gomez and Alexander-Arnold,

but also demanding both physically and mentally on a duo so young.

The move would come with risks, although short-term problems could be soothed by long-term benefits.

Klopp and his squad have often been quick to note that goals conceded do not depend

on the back five alone, and that more is needed from those who play ahead of them.

Perhaps moving one of those who play ahead of the Liverpool captain, Gini Wijnaldum or

Can, into a deeper role, could provide a bit more balance.

Marko Grujic could also be a potential holder in this set-up.

Do you think the pathological processes of Progressive MS will be treatable in future? - Duration: 1:51.

Do you think the pathological processes of progressive MS will be treatable in the future?

Yeah I think so. I think we are in a development now, if you think

about MS therapy about 20-25 years ago with the anti-inflammatory therapy for

early ms we were in a stage where we had about a 20% - 30% success with respect to

relapse reduction and inflammation. Then, now with all the modern treatments we

are here in a stage where we have in principle therapies which can reduce

inflammation by more than 90 - 95% so we are very effective in this phase.

Now with the progressive MS situation many of the new tested drugs are

interfering with exactly the pathological processes which I have

described in my lecture and they are now in the process of testing and so far

what we can say is that the first successes which we have are about the

same as we were with the anti-inflammatory about 25 years ago.

So a reduction of about 10% to 20% to 25% but I am quite sure that knowing

that these are the principal mechanisms the selection of proper pharmaceuticals

will be much easier now and will certainly lead to a slow and steady

increase of therapeutic efficacy.
