Hey, what's happening YouTube, Josh Teder here from 6 Months Later and
today we get to do one of my favorite videos, another Google Home features
update video. Now since our last feature update video in January, Google has been
busy rolling out new features and in this video we'll be covering several of
them including setting alarms with media, and a brand new feature called routines.
This, is 6 Months Later.
Now before we get any further, I do want to point out that your mileage may vary
when it comes to these new features on your Google Home devices. Currently these
features have rolled out here in the United States for the English version of
the Google Assistant on Google Home devices, but that does not necessarily
mean that these new features have rolled out to your Google home if you're in
another country outside of the United States. Sometimes Google does these
rollouts simultaneously, sometimes they don't. It really depends on the feature.
so with that out of the way, let's go ahead and dive into what some of these
new features are and first let's start with multiple Netflix profiles. Now
you've been able to watch movies on your TV if you have a chromecast with the
Google Home integration for a while now, but the one limitation with it was you
can only have one Netflix profile with your Netflix account through the Google
Home app. So if you invited a friend over and they told Google to watch something
on Netflix it would link that to your Netflix profile and then Netflix would
take into account what your friend wanted to watch when it suggests new TV
shows and movies for you on Netflix, which unsurprisingly, a lot of people
found annoying. Now luckily Google did roll out a fix for this with multiple
user profiles on Netflix. Now the way Google fix this issue with the multiple
Netflix profiles is by using voice match so what it will do now is when you set
up your Netflix account and select which profile you want to use with the Google
home the Google Home will also use voice match, so it knows when it's you asking
to play a certain TV show or movie on Netflix and not your wife or your
daughter or son. Now even better, if your wife daughter or son also have the
Google home apps on their phone they can also set up their Netflix account and
profile an able voice match that way when anyone requests anything of the
Google Home in regards to playing a Netflix TV show or movie, the Google Home
not only knows who it is making the request, it
knows which Netflix profile is matched to the person making a request. Next up,
let's talk about alarms. You've been able to set an alarm on the Google Home
devices for forever now and even multiple alarms, but finally you can now
set a media alarm so you can wake up to music, a podcast or even the news. So
instead of waking up to the default alarm like this, you can now wake up like
this! Radio: "I'm Jack Pier for NPR. Donald Trump tweeted again this morning at Kim Jeong Hoon, the leader of North..." Let's take another
example. To set a music alarm simply say Me" Hey Google, set a music alarm for 7:20 a.m.
tomorrow morning." Google Home: "All right, and what music would you like me to play?" Me: "It's a
beautiful day by Michael Bublé." Google Home: "Alright, I'll play the song it's a beautiful day
for tomorrow at 7:20 a.m." Google also allows you to now set recurring alarms
so you can simply ask it to set an alarm for every day this week.
You can also set recurring alarms with music podcasts as well as news. Here's an
example of a recurring alarm. Me: Hey Google, set a recurring alarm for weekdays." Google Home: "Got it, on
weekdays, and the time?" Me: "7:15 a.m." Google Home: "Got it, your alarms set on weekdays at 7:15 a.m."
Now if you're ever unsure about what alarms you have scheduled you can simply
ask your Google Home. Me: "Hey Google, what alarms do I have scheduled?" Google Home: "You have an alarm
called it's a beautiful day set for tomorrow at 7:20 a.m." And then you can
cancel from there. Me: "Hey Google, cancel that alarm." Google Home: "Sure, canceled." Next up let's talk
about a new integration with the chromecast on your TV and your Google
Home device all related around the Google assistance showing you
information on your Chromecast TV. now for this feature it's specific to
weather you can now get the Google home to show you the weather on your
chromecast TV all you have to do is make sure you have a chromecast plugged into
your TV and then simply ask Google to show you the weather notice you need to
say the word show in the phrase otherwise it will not display the
weather on your TV Google show me the weather right now in Raleigh it's 49 and
mostly cloudy today it'll be partly cloudy with a forecasted high of 54 and
a low of 33 and if you have a newer TV with HDMI CEC when you ask Google to
show you the weather it will actually turn the TV on for you and then display
the weather on the chromecast TV finally let's take an in-depth look at Google's
newest feature for the Google home devices called routines now my setup
there was actually a little bit tricky because we've all actually been using
routines before and just haven't noticed it when you ask Google about your day
and it tells you what's on your calendar gives you your commute to work what the
weather forecast is and then plays the news you're actually using one of the
now six routines that you can access in your Google assistant settings now in
simple terms a routine is simply a command you give your Google home and
then your Google home device will do multiple things now as I said before
there are currently six routines available to users they are good morning
bedtime leaving home I'm home commuting to work
and commuting home let's take a look at these in more detail Google good morning
hi Josh good morning is a routine to help you
start your day simply tell Google good morning or tell me about my day and then
the Google home will be able to do the following take your phone off silent for
Android phones only adjust your lights plugs and more adjust your thermostat
tell you about the weather your commute today's calendar and today's reminders
and then it can play the news radio podcast and audio book or some music for
you if you've got a great wake up playlist you could also have the Google
home play this when you say good morning all you have to do is click
on the gear icon to customize any of the routine actions so for music click on
the gear icon and then type in the playlist you want Google to play next up
we have bedtime a routine designed to help you well get to bed let's see how
this routine works in real time Google bedtime okay let's get ready for bed
tomorrow in Raleigh it'll be partly cloudy with a high of 74 and a low of 56
what time should I set the alarm for 7:20 all right your alarm set for
tomorrow at 7:20 a.m. good night Josh
now when coming back home make sure to tell Google I'm back or I'm home and
then Google home will be able to do the following for you
adjust your lights plugs in more adjust your thermostat broadcast I'm home
across all of your Google home speakers at your residence hey there Josh arrived
tell you your home reminders adjust your media volume and then be able to play
music news radio podcasts or an audio book now the last routines involve
commuting for commuting to work simply tell Google let's go to work and then it
will do the following for you tell you about your commute tell you about the
current weather today's calendar - these reminders adjust lights plugs and more
and your thermostat and adjust the media volume and then it can play music news
radio podcasts and an audio book lastly for commuting home just tell Google
let's go home and then Google will be able to do the following for you tell
you about your commute send a text message to people letting them know that
you're on your way home read unread texts if you have an Android phone
broadcast I'm on my way home from all of your Google home devices in your
residence anyway adjust your lights plugs and more as well as your
thermostat adjust your media volume and then you can play music audiobooks
podcasts news and music so as you can see the routines feature is quite an
extensive feature add to the Google home devices now the only thing missing is
the ability that allows you to create your own routine right now it appears
that Google only allows you to use these six routines it has created and that are
found in the Google assistant settings I'd imagine later on down the road or
maybe even later this year Google will probably open this up to allow users to
create their own routines well those are the main new features for the Google
home devices thanks so much for watching this features update video if you liked
this video be sure to give us a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel if you'd
like to see more like this one also be sure to drop a
comment below and let us know how you're enjoying these new features until next
time thanks again for watching. For 6 Months Later, I'm Josh Teder

Anandi Gopal Joshi - Google Celebrates Earliest Indian Female Doctor Anandi Gopal Joshi. - Duration: 1:04.
On March 31st, 2018 - Anandi Gopal Joshi's 153rd Birthday is celebrated by Google Doodles.
Today's Doodle about Anandi Gopal Joshi is created by Bangalore-based artist Kashmira
Sarode who imagines Joshi celebrating her degree.
In 1886, a young doctor stepped off a ship from America, eager to take up the role of
physician in charge of the female ward at Kolhapur's Albert Edward Hospital.
Not only was she India's first female doctor, but she was only 19 years old at the time.
Her name was Anandi Gopal Joshi, and her story is one of courage and perseverance.
Joshi was married at the age of nine, as was the custom in 19th century India.
Her husband encouraged her to continue her education and her interest in medicine.
At sixteen, battling ill-health but determined to succeed, Joshi set sail for America.
She earned her medical degree from the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania (now known
as Drexel University College of Medicine) and returned to India with dreams of opening
a medical college for women.
Joshi's young life was tragically cut short when she died of tuberculosis before her 22nd
birthday.
However, her legacy and the path she paved for generations of women continues today.
Interestingly, even a crater on Venus is named after her!
Happy Birthday, Anandi Gopal Joshi!

The Search Engine Google is showing a doodle for Anandi Gopal Joshi.
Today it is the 153rd Birthday of Anandi Gopal Joshi.
Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi was born on 31st of March 1865.
She was one of the earliest Indian female physicians.
She was the primary lady of Indian-starting point to study and graduate with a 2 years
recognition in drug in the United States.
She is additionally accepted to be the primary lady to set foot on American soil from India.

Joshi was conceived as Yamuna, in Kalyan of the Thane locale in display day Maharashtra,
to a standard Hindu family.
Her family used to be landowners in Kalyan yet lost their financial riches.
As that was the training around then, Yamuna was hitched at nine years old to Gopalrao
Joshi, a widower very nearly twenty years her senior, because of weight laid by her
family.
After marriage, her significant other renamed her Anandi.Gopalrao Joshi filled in as a postal
agent in Kalyan.
Afterward, he was exchanged to Alibag, and afterward, at last, to Calcutta (today, Kolkata).
He was a dynamic scholar, and upheld training for ladies, which was not extremely common
at the time.
It was regular for Brahmins in those circumstances to be capable in Sanskrit.
Be that as it may, affected by Lokhitawadi's Shat Patre, Gopalrao viewed learning English
as more practical than learning Sanskrit.
Seeing Anandibai's advantage, he helped her get an instruction and learn English.
At fourteen years old, Anandibai brought forth a kid, yet the youngster lived just for ten
days in light of the fact that the therapeutic watch over his survival was inaccessible.

Useful Google Forms Add-on for adding 'Other' responses into list of choices - Duration: 1:43.
Hey!
In this short video we're going to learn about a useful Google Forms trick using an add-on.
We're going to incorporate answers that users submit in the "other" field into the list
of choices for that question.
That sounds a bit confusing so let's take a look at how it works.
I've got a simple form here that I'm going to send out about a holiday party next Friday.
Let's fill this out.
I'm going to select one of the options but also select "other" and type in my own response.
Then for the second question I'm also going to add my own response under "other."
Now I'm going to submit the responses.
You'll see that when the next user goes to submit a response, the custom responses that
I entered are now showing up in the list of choices.
Pretttttty cool, right?
All right, let's learn how to set this up.
Let's start with a new Google Form.
I'm going to create one here.
Just going to call it something, and start a new question.
I'm going to make sure it's multiple choice or checkbox and then I'm going to type in
some options here.
I'm going to make sure to select "ADD OTHER."
This is important.
Now I'm going to install my add-on.
I'm going to go to the menu up here and select "Add-ons..." and search for "other etc."
Let's install it.
Approve any permissions.
Great!
Little puzzle piece is there, our add-on menu is working now, but this is really important:
we have to refresh the page first.
All right, now I'm going to open the Add-on menu and select "Other Etc" --> "turn on/off."
I'm going to flip the switch now so it's in the "on" position and we're gathering responses.
Should be good to go!
I would just recommend previewing the form, and submitting an actual response to make
sure it's working.
And looks good!
All right, you should be good to go!
Thanks for watching, and let me know if you have any issues with it.

How Do I Get My WordPress Website Listed On Google? - Duration: 9:50.
Hi! This is Topher with WinningWP.
In this video we're going to answer the question,
how do I get my WordPress website listed on Google?
Let me show you.
The first thing you want to do
is prepare your website.
This is a normal WordPress dashboard,
and the first thing you want to do
is go down to Settings, Reading,
and there's a switch right here labeled
Search Engine Visibility.
And if it's checked, it will discourage
search engines from indexing this site.
Now this is great while you're building your site
and you don't want Google to look.
But once it's live and you want Google
to come see your site, this must be unchecked,
or nothing else you do will matter.
The next thing you should do is have SEO-ready content.
I recommend getting an SEO plugin like Yoast.
It has tips to help guide you
as you setup your content.
When you create a post, there's a box right here
to help you setup keywords, focus keywords,
add your Google snippet, et cetera.
So this plugin helps make the content
on your site be something that Google wants to crawl.
Next, you should have a sitemap.
A sitemap is an XML document
that lists every page and post on your site,
and presents it to Google in a way that Google likes.
Fortunately, Yoast SEO helps create one.
Here under the SEO tab, there's XML Sitemaps.
And you can simply turn it on.
Once it's on you can click this link
to view your sitemap.
So here it lists all the different kinds
of content you have, and when you click one
it shows all the different items
in that kind of content.
So, these are all posts, and these are all pages.
So when Google comes to my site
and wants to know what's here,
it looks first for a sitemap.
And it can quickly and easily read through
the entire sitemap rather than having
to read through all the source code on webpages.
Another thing you should do is check
your robots.txt file.
Do you see how sitemap_index.xml
is just right here on the end of my URL?
You can do the same with robots.txt.
Mine says, for all user-agents,
which means all web browsers,
disallow searching wp-admin.
However, allow admin-ajax.php,
and then by default because it doesn't say anything else,
it allows everything else.
So my robots.txt file right now
is saying that search engines
can look at everything on my site, except wp-admin.
Now if you don't have one of these files,
that's just fine.
Google will take that to mean
that it can search everything.
Now once you have your site prepped and ready for Google,
we want to signup for Google Webmasters.
This is a relatively new website
that is not registered with Google,
so we're gonna set it up together.
You can search for Google Webmasters,
and you want this item right here at the top.
Now Google Webmasters is a program
that helps you learn about good SEO,
how to make good websites, et cetera.
The primary tool here is the Search Console,
so we're going to use that.
Now I'm already logged into Google.
If you don't have a Google account,
you can create one on any Google property,
and use it across the board.
So you could use your Gmail address.
You could use your YouTube address.
Any address on a Google property will work here.
Now as you can see, I have a number
of sites already setup, but we're going to
setup this brand new one called Eclectic Jams.
So let's click this red button, Add a Property.
We could choose whether it's a website
or an Android app, and then we'd put in the address.
And then click Add.
Now we need to prove that we own this website.
Now the recommended way for proving
that we own the website is by using Google Analytics,
which we also have not setup yet.
So let's leave this tab right here
and go signup for Google Analytics.
There it is right at the top.
Now, we see this page because I have
Google Analytics setup on another site.
If you did not, this would be blank,
and that would be just fine.
What we really want is this Admin button
down here on the bottom left.
Click Admin.
And then under Account, we Create new account.
And we're going to choose Website,
and we're going to create an account name.
And then we put in the website name.
Note, this is not the URL,
this is just the name.
Then here we put in the address,
and we choose whether it's HTTP or HTTPS.
Then we can choose an industry.
And a reporting timezone.
Then Google wants to know if it can share
your data with other services.
I'm going to go ahead and say Yes.
So now I get a Tracking ID,
and I accept their terms of service,
and right here is the Tracking ID.
Now, to get that Tracking ID into our website,
we're going to use a plugin.
The plugin we're going to use is called MonsterInsights.
Now that MonsterInsights is active,
we can go over here to Insights, Dashboard.
And the first thing it says is we must authenticate.
So let's authenticate with our Google account.
Now because I'm already logged in with Google,
it can talk to Google.
It wants to view and manage our Google Analytics data,
and view our Google Analytics data,
so we'll Allow, and then we copy this code.
We paste it in here.
Next we need to choose a profile,
and there's our Eclectic Jams site,
and there's that code they said we needed
to have in our site.
And there we are.
I'll Save Changes.
So now we have Google Analytics setup
which means we can come back to the Search Console,
and we'll choose Verify.
Now because we had Google Analytics setup
and our code was in our HTML in our website,
the console was able to see that yes indeed
we do own this site.
And now we continue.
Now this is the Google Search Console,
and after awhile it'll have a lot
of really interesting information.
But we don't have any traffic yet,
but what we're looking for right now
is this Crawl option.
There's Fetch as Google, and we'll just click Fetch.
There, now Google went and checked out our website.
Now I'm going to request indexing,
and I must say I am not a robot.
And I want to crawl only this URL,
and then I'll click Go.
Now, indexing is requested.
Now at some point, Google is going to
go index my website, and that's what's
going to get it listed.
Now, there is no published schedule
for this sort of thing.
Google's going to do it when it gets around to it.
Probably quite soon.
It's probably going to crawl it today,
but they make no promises.
And then, even once it's indexed
they also make no promises about getting it listed
on Google search.
It can take months and sometimes years
to get highly ranked in Google.
Based on the amount of traffic you get,
the quality of your website,
the frequency of change in your website,
and how many other people link to your website.
Now we've covered a lot of material in this video,
so let's recap.
First you want to prepare your site.
Check the Search Engine Visibility
switch in your settings in WordPress.
Then, have SEO-ready content,
and I recommend getting a plugin to help you with that.
Next, have a sitemap.
A good SEO plugin can create one for you.
Check your robots.txt file,
and make sure that it is not blocking everything.
Next, signup for Google Analytics.
Then install MonsterInsights and connect
your site to Google.
MonsterInsights has an excellent walkthrough
to help you with every detail.
Lastly, signup at Google Webmasters
so that you can use the Google Console.
Once you're in the Google Console,
add your property, which is your website.
Then go to the Crawl section and ask Google
to fetch your site.
Once they do they give you the option
to ask Google to index your site.
Once they've indexed your site once,
they'll keep an eye on it.
They'll check back periodically.
And depending on how often your site changes,
and how much traffic you get,
they will begin to check back
more and more frequently.
If your site never changes,
they'll probably only check back
about once a month.
But if your site changes regularly,
they may check back several times a day.
And again, I want to remind you,
all of the things we've done here
tell Google that our site exists
and asks them nicely to index it.
This isn't a promise that you will get listed,
although it's likely you will.
And even if you do get listed,
