How "WatchTower of Turkey" Changed Travel Videos - Duration: 7:52.In the last five years I've begun traveling solo, I've stayed with strangers so magnificent places
tasted amazing food covered thousands of kilometers with a variety of different vehicles
Looking back it seems to me that I've traveled plenty but I crave for so much more for I know that there are
Still tons of cultures, which I like to explore, but from my experiences
I already have a general understanding of the perceptions that can be gained through travelling you see to me
There are two types of travelling monumental trouble an experiential travelling monumental traveling is going to turistic places
Sightseeing things that are more
Commercialized stuff that you can find in 20 things you have to do when you're there lists for example seeing the Eiffel Tower in Paris
or going up the Empire State Building in New York
Taking a ride on the London Eye or riding the elephants in Bangkok on the other hand experiential traveling is
Meeting the locals sharing their food talking to them hearing their stories
Experiencing the culture on a more personal and unique level now don't get me wrong
I'm not saying monumental traveling is mainstream and the product of the consumers
mentality so that you shouldn't do these things because there are times when the two types collide and create a special type of
travelling state of mind by going to those places with specific people or an
Interesting setting like walking in Pompeii when it's raining with a wine bottle in your hands as you walk past
Two thousand-year-old villas or catching the last glimpse of the sunlight over the horizon when you're paragliding in fethiye
Now all these journeys have a starting point you at home dreaming London's
But of course dreaming alone doesn't cut it so we tend to get ourselves excited by doing some research
They say better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times
Now this is one of my favorite quotes about travelling because it encapsulates the essence of traveling experiencing things
Which you cannot hear or read about?
But it's those talks and tales of adventures which were exposed to
which get us going which gives us the initial drive to leave our comfort zone and
Go on a journey in
This age of course what I'm talking about is the travelers vlog we watch these videos to experience and get a glimpse of the adventures
Other people are taking and while after all all we need to know to begin is that it's possible
But when I'm watching these videos and getting excited about my own travel ideas at the back of my head
I know that these experiences are special to those creators and that I'm just watching them
Living through those moments and so this got me thinking
Isn't there a better way to really take me there a medium which gets the viewer excited and make it special for us
Well if you ask me what a travel video should look like I cannot give you an exact answer
Because I believe that there's an infinite amount of ways to tell stories
And yet as an airy art form there are fashion eyes styles in travel videos too although most of them include personalized memories
Places and edits they seem to hit a wall when it comes to imagination as far as the content goes such as the girl taking
your hand and going to places or
Dancing around with a selfie stick or the over joyous group of people jumping around with an upbeat music now. Don't get me wrong
I'm not saying that these are bad ideas for travelling videos
It's just that they've been used so many times by so many vloggers that they take up the space for
original storytelling ideas by becoming some sort of essential parts of a video and by doing so they alter the experiential mood of
Traveling to a more monumental way of thinking about it however every once in a while
I manage to stumble upon a very special work of art
Which makes me question his philosophy was this different approach to a medium full of repeating ideas
This is the voice of an embryo fast
This is a traveling video called the watch star of Turkey by an amazing artist Leonardo delle sundry
He shot some variety of turistic places
local towns in Turkey and made this incredible of collage of a video
You see to me as opposed to his colleagues what Leonardo
Achieves with this video is that he keeps the traveller in the equation while removing himself from the driver's seat?
To put us in his place, and what is unique about it
Is that he doesn't use POV shots to give a simulated?
Experience of traveling he does this by focusing in on the culture the people the animals the life
He doesn't just shoot pretty buildings in cool ways
He puts the people in focus gives you the idea of experience in those places like you were a local for years
Everything in this video features some sort of human touch be it the hands the eyes
the conversations taking a step or even a smile from a distance
By watching these clips we get how the ground under our feet feels like the flow of the crowded streets
Surrounds us or how frustrating it is to grab the cone from the ice-cream, man
To give these feelings though leo utilizes his masterful videography technique
now editing hundreds of shots is a difficult task and
Creating a unique style while doing so is no easier
But I think how leo succeeds in bringing these clips together is tightly related with the ideas that I mentioned before
The sense of time and space is completely lost in the video as a result of fast cuts
crazy zooms shot masking jumping through places and a great variety of long medium and close-up shots
Yet, I don't feel lost when I'm watching this video at all
I think that's because in all these clips Leonardo introduces some sort of balance in control to acidity
The flow of the camera is perfectly linked between Clips if there's a zoom that is supported by a matching scene
the frames follow each other in such harmony that I enjoy being lost because I know that I'm flowing through a combined arc of
Experiences in places even the music finds a visual way to be displayed to further the idea of connection in cinematic
Relations I can hear the sounds of the water the instruments the birds flapping of the hot air balloons
All this effort just to give us the natural feeling of its reality
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I completely agree with that
And I think what Leonardo that has Suntree has done with his creation has elevated this idea to a new level
Finding meaning in capturing memories in pictures
He stitches moments from a thousand different stories together to present the delicate harmony between the geography
architecture and the people that is hidden in the shared identity of a nation and
By doing so he gives us a complete and personal experience of a place in time
We've never been to before or reminds us the beauty of our own culture through his lens with a unique look on traveling

Michael Brodsky Home Videos - Duration: 7:26.Louder!
(Spanish) Uno mas!
I did it!
I'm so strong!
My wish: another 53!
Kate: There's Papa. Are you filming? Roberta: Yes.
Roberta: My Daddy's a good skier!
Now we're going to see whose pebble skips the farthest.
Kristina and Roberta are making miracles. They would have won a contest for whose pebble skips the least.
This is just the "throwing" of a pebble.
I'll show you how it's supposed to go.
There. Four times, that's not much.
Pay attention.
Two!
Kristina. That was genius.
Kate: Kristina tossed a good toss.
Attention, Kate. Watch.
It's a bad rock. But parallel to the water...
Kate: Another toss!
Roberta: Papa, say something.
Goodbye.
Long live capitalism!
Oh, how darling. Oh, how they resemble me.
Hello to all.
My best wishes to all.
In case of anything, come visit... Europe... we'll meet over there.
Poem: I don't like the mug on a Ford.
And Toyotas make me nauseous.
No. I'd rather allow myself...
to change Hondas every two years.
I take the plate. I go "one two three"
Turn it around, one, two, three. Three and a half. Rinse off the soap.
Thoroughly rinse the soap!
And then we get meat with soap!
Colossal. What a beauty! Now like this.
Poem: He who is smart, works with his brains.
He who's an alcoholic, drinks vodka.
And he who's no one, he's at the swap meet. He buys and sells.
Robertochka, leave it alone, put it back. Don't bother.
I read half of it, that's enough.
Happy Birthday Kate.
Poem: What can I do if - even with grey hair - I still like...
...any random beautiful girl
And - alas! - any random ugly one.
Now he'll get it, everything will be fine.
Poem: Kristina, Krisyachka, Kobasik.
You are the light of your mom's and dad's life.
Yesterday, you were in the first grade.
Today, University you leave behind you.
How fast the time flew by.
We are proud of you.
How much you've accomplished in life.
Changing your job.
And studying.
A week of marriage.
And talking, and talking.
And, not only that, but talking fast!
And to fall in love and out of love.
All that, is what it means to live.
Song: Ladies and Gentlemen
But I don't cry. I never cry.
And I'm a joker, I can't do it any other way.
Because I'm - who? - an Odessan by birth!
One...
and two...
and three...
and we continue.
But I don't cry. I never cry.
And I'm a joker. I can't do it any other way.
Because I'm - who? - an Odessan by birth!
But I don't cry. I never cry.
And I'm a joker. I can't do it any other way.
Because I'm - who? - Odessan by birth!
Hey, I'd sing more if anybody paid me.
Grandma: They insulted Lenin. Degraded him.
Kate: Mama! Mama!

How a Blind YouTuber Makes Videos - Duration: 5:55.- [Crew Member] Alright, we are rolling.
Get some of downtown.
- [Narrator] We make films to help show people
how we see the world.
But what if the way you saw the world
was over-exposed, blurry, and constantly in motion?
That's what it looks like every day for James Rath.
- [Electronic Voice] Final upload progress in window.
To enter text in this field, tap.
To stop interacting with this core area, press
control option shift up arrow.
- [James] How James sees.
- We met James the way we meet most people;
On YouTube.
When he reached out, we looked into his story,
and the one thing we enjoy more than telling our own story
is getting to tell someone else's.
So we're heading to go grab a coffee with him
and learn more about him.
He has a really interesting story.
(mellow hiphop music)
- [Crew Member] James.
- [James] Hey.
How're you doing?
- [Crew Member] What's up man?
How you doing?
- [Narrator] After coffee and talking cameras,
we sat James down for an interview.
- [James] My name is James Rath.
I'm a legally blind filmmaker,
and I'm based in downtown LA.
I've been legally blind since birth,
so glasses cannot correct anything that is
affecting an underdeveloped retina,
but when you have a huge magnifying glass
like a camera,
I've been able to see the world
better than I ever had
but then it also became this sort of creative outlet.
So my advice to you is to just keep working,
keep creating and eventually life will surprise you
with opportunities that
you won't believe
that are right in front of you.
I realized what I wanted to create.
What kind of content would be impactful not only for myself
but maybe for others,
and eventually kind of grew
into what my channel is today
which is talking about accessibility,
talking about technology,
but through this personal documentary way.
My eyes are constantly moving back and forth,
and I see everything spinning in vertigo,
but my brain.
It's something to do with the nerves
in my brain where if I'm getting tired or nervous,
they'll just start speeding up,
and it'll get to the point where I have no usable vision.
- [Electronic Voice] Double tap to open.
Zero point zero locked seconds.
Viewfinder, focus unlocked.
One face, large face.
- Large face!
- [Crew Member] Large face.
- It just means that you're taking up a bit of room.
- It's like big nose, needs a new haircut.
- Should have shaved.
- [Electronic Voice] Zero, two point zero x.
Face near bottom right edge.
Two faces.
- Wow, that is unbelievable.
- [Narrator] As editors ourselves
the main question we had for James was
how does this all work?
How do you make movies when you're legally blind?
We're about to go open up a project
and actually see how James edits videos.
(light piano music)
- [Electronic Voice] Collection replaced.
Two five point zero.
- [James] I can't make out any of this but
because Apple's like 'Well, visually impaired people
should be able to see their screens too,'
it's just so empowering.
Kind of see how it starts to emulate that,
so pushing it a little bit left,
and then the other one a little bit right.
- [Narrator] Using Apple's accessibility features
James can use his computer to literally show people
how he sees the world.
- [James] Basically what we have
is how I would have saw this image
right then and there without my sunglasses
or how this would have played out without the video.
I don't think there's anything that can stop you
from creating content
or really doing what you like to do.
If you're passionate about something
you'll find a way to do it.
Even if you're up to taking your own approach.
- [James] Have you ever found yourself using any of the
accessible view features for yourself?
- [Tim Cook] Yeah. I mean I use night-shift all the time.
- [Narrator] That's Apple CEO Tim Cook.
One of James' videos was about how Apple saved his life.
and it got the attention of the company.
- [James] That video itself, it definitely ran it's course
and it got picked up by Apple.
Tim Cook ended up Tweeting it.
I got to visit Apple
and got to speak there as well
and also meet Tim and have coffee and do a video with him.
Basically you can customize it
so it starts reading everything that your mouse
would hover over.
- [Crew Member] The way you're zooming, is that
available on all Macs?
- [James] Yes. This is built right into the OS.
It's a company
but at the same time at their core they give a shit.
- [Crew Members] Yeah.
- [Narrator] We were inspired by James
because he tells great stories
and because he won't let anything stop him from doing so.
- [Man] One of the steepest staircases.
I am holding on for dear life right now.
(mellow guitar music)
- [James] Technology has really changed the way how people
with disabilities interact with the world
and how we're able to have access.
The fact that my phone can not only be
an accessible camera
but also let me interact on social media
or have the ability to zoom in to a menu at a restaurant.
Something that I couldn't normally do
like actually read things
or it can read things to me from the real world.
I'm just so grateful
and the fact that this is all happening now.
It's revolutionized the way how people can
I guess interact with the world beyond what we thought.
- [Crew Member] Alright man.
- [Crew Member 2] Alright, see you James.
- [Crew Member] C'mon.
- [Crew Member 2] That was unbelievable.
- [Crew Member] I mean if you think anything's
holding you back from picking up the camera,
filming, editing, uploading to YouTube,
just push through.
There's always a way.
- [Crew Member 2] There's always a way.
(guitar music)
- [James] I can identify people from what they're wearing.
Collin is right here in a black shirt.
I notice we all have on white pants.
Don't know if those are out of style though.
- [Crew Member] Yeah.
Such antics.
- [Crew Member] I'll tell you what. They're in style.
- [James] Okay.
- [Crew Member] Now you know.
- [James] Now I know.
- [Narrator] Subscribe to James' channel
to see a little bit more of how he sees the world,
and if you are inspired like we were
share this video with a friend
so they can be inspired too.
(guitar music)
