6 Use Google Trends - Duration: 2:48.

- Even though it's not AdWords, I want to bring Google Trends into this course, as it's

a great way to gain insight into, for instance, which states in a country are picking up on

certain trends.

Whether it be coffee, yoga, or virtual reality, simply search for Google Trends, and click

on the result.

And there's a lot for you to explore here, so you probably want to click on a few of

the tabs in the upper left, as well as the categories here.

But for the sake of this course, I wanna show you some specific examples.

When I search for virtual reality and hit return, it brings up a graph that is clearly

a rising trend.

And if that was the stock market, you probably wouldn't bet against it.

When you scroll down, you'll find that you have a chart with the regional interest.

And we will be going in to local applications in a little while.

I know the Google Trends will be very useful for your business.

And I'm gonna give you some tips on how best to approach it.

The questions I tend to ask myself when using this tool, are the following: Is the trend

on the rise, or fall, or neither?

How does this trend compare to other trends?

Where is this most popular?

At a country, or state or city level?

And then, what does this mean for me?

And what action should I now take?

For this next example, I'm going to use surfing, and sailing, and snowboarding.

And what you'll see is that, not surprisingly, surfing and sailing tend to peak more in summer,

and you can see snowboarding is peaking more in winter.

So straight away, you have insight into the mind of the search for those particular subject

matters.

You can also filter the results and show, for instance, what's going on with YouTube

Search.

Or you could choose Google Shopping, or one of the other options.

If you go to the time, you can change so that you look at the last 12 months' data, or you

could choose a specific date range, depending on your needs.

When you scroll down, you have the regional interest.

And moving across, you can see the most popular countries for those particular subjects.

If you click on a section of the map, you can dive deeper and find out what is going

on, for instance, in Florida.

And even down to a more localized level.
