Jerusalem Dateline: 11/03/17 Egypt's President Meets US Evangelicals in Cairo - Duration: 22:31.

>> THIS WEEK ON "JERUSALEM

DATELINE," WINDS OF CHANGE

IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT INVITES

EVANGELICAL LEADERS TO

MEET WITH HIM.

AND 100 YEARS SINCE THE

BATTLE OF BEERSHEBA, THE

VICTORY THAT PAVED THE WAY

FOR THE JEWISH STATE.

ALL OF THIS AND MORE THIS

WEEK ON "JERUSALEM

DATELINE."

>>> HELLO, AND WELCOME TO

THIS EDITION OF "JERUSALEM

DATELINE."

I'M JULIE STAAL, FILLING

IN FOR CHRIS MITCHELL.

>>> FOR THE FIRST TIME A

DELEGATION OF CHRISTIAN

EVANGELICALS FROM THE

UNITED STATES VISITED WITH

EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT

EL-SISSI.

SOME BELIEVE IT RECOMMENDS

A TURNING POINT WITH THE

WORLDS LARGEST COMPANY.

>> THE MEETING BETWEEN

PRESIDENT el-SISSI AND

THE EVANGELICALS EXCEEDED

THEIR EXPECTATIONS.

>> RARELY HAVE I BEEN IN A

MEETING THAT WAS MEANT FOR

AN HOUR AND WENT FOR THREE

HOURS.

AND THERE WAS NO HEDGING

OF ANY QUESTIONS.

>> I BELIEVE IT IS SETTING

INTO MOTION AN HISTORIC

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AN

ARAB MUSLIM LEADER AND THE

EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN

MOVEMENT.

>> Chris: AUTHOR AND

MIDDLE EAST EXPERT JOEL

ROSENBERG HOSTEDED THE HOSTED THE

DELEGATION.

HE BELIEVES E EL-SISSI IS

THE LEADER WE NEED TO MEET

WITH.

>> WHAT DO WE NEED IN THE

UNITED STATES?

PEOPLE WHO TELL US I WANT

A STRONG STRATEGIC

ALLIANCE WITH AMERICA.

>> Reporter: DURING THE

MEETING, HE STRESSED

FIGHTING ISLAMIC TERRORISM

AND PROTECTING RELIGIOUS

FREEDOM.

>> AS A FORMER MEMBER OF

THE UNITED STATES

CONGRESS, I CAN TELL YOU

PRESIDENT EL-SISSI IS THE

BEST OF THE BEST.

WE CAN BE EXTREMELY GLAD

HE IS HERE.

AND I AM EXTREMELY PROUD

TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH

PRESIDENT el-SISSI

BECAUSE HE WANTS TO ENSURE

THAT I, AS A CHRISTIAN IN

EGYPT, AM ABLE TO PRACTICE

MY FAITH WITHOUT HAVING

THAT DISRUPTED.

>> Chris: THE DELEGATION

ALSO MET WITH TWO

INFLUENTIAL MUSLIM

LEADERS, INCLUDING EGYPT'S

GRAND MUFTI AND THE WIDOW

OF EGYPT'S FORMER

PRESIDENT, WHO FORGED AN

HISTORIC PEACE WITH

ISRAEL, A PEACE THAT HAS

LASTED FOR DECADES.

>> IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT

FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL GROUP

LIKE THEM TO VISIT EGYPT.

AND TO GET TO KNOW THAT

THE EGYPTIAN WANT TO BUILD

OUR COUNTRY AND WE WANT TO

DO OUR BEST -- WE WANT TO

DO MORE HOSPITALS, MORE

SCHOOLS, MORE EVERYTHING

TO MAKE THE COUNTRY -- TO

ELEVATE THE STANDARDS OF

THE PEOPLE.

>> Chris: EGYPT IS A

LAND RICH IN BIBLICAL

HISTORY.

MOSES WAS RESCUED FROM THE

RIVER NILE.

IT IS THE LAND OF JOSEPH,

THE ISRAELITES, AND THE

EXODUS.

JESUS SOUGHT REFUGE HERE,

AND EGYPT IS MENTIONED

MORE IN THE BIBLE THAN ANY

OTHER COUNTRY ACCEPT

ISRAEL.

THAT'S WHY THESE

EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS

BELIEVE GOD HAS A SPECIAL

CALLING ON EGYPT.

>> TH THE SCRIPTURES INDICATE

THAT GOD HAD THIS GREAT

LOVE FOR EGYPT.

ISAIAH 19 SPEAKS OF EGYPT,

MY PEOPLE.

>> Chris: SOME BELIEVE

THE MEETINGS REPRESENT

WINDS OF CHANGE IN THE

MIDDLE EAST.

>> AS I TRAVEL AROUND

THROUGHOUT THE ARAB WORLD,

THERE IS A NEW OPENNESS

AND COOPERATION.

I THINK THE HORRIBLE

EVENTS OF RECENT YEARS

HERE HAVE AWAKENED

EVERYONE TO NOT ONLY THE

IDEA OF PEACE, BUT THE

NECESSITY OF IT.

AND WE HAVE NOTHING TO

FEAR BY FREEDOM.

>> Chris: THE DELEGATION

ALSO MET WITH EVANGELICAL

LEADERS OF EGYPT, WHERE

BOTH GROUPS SHARED THEIR

HEARTS.

[INAUDIBLE]

>> IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE

HERE WITH YOU TODAY.

>> WE AS ARAB CHRISTIANS,

WE FEEL HONORED THAT YOU

VISIT.

>> A FANTASTIC MEETING,

SHARING THE HOPES, THE

DREAMS, THE CHALLENGES

FACING EVANGELICALS HERE,

HOW THEY LOOK TO THE

FUTURE, HOW THEY COME

TOGETHER AND BUILD A

COALITION FOR THE KINGDOM

OF GOD.

THE MEETING WAS VERY, VERY

PROPHETIC AND VERY

INSPIRING.

>> Chris: DR. ANDREA

ZACKI IS THE HEAD OF THE

EVANGELICAL CHURCH IN

EGYPT.

>> WE HAVE GROWN OUR

CHURCH AND WE HAVE

CONFIDENCE IN GOD, AND WE

ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO

BUILD THE KINGDOM OF GOD

WITH CO-EXISTENCE AND

RESPECTERING EACH OTHER.

WE ARE INVITING PEOPLE TO

COME TO JESUS.

>> WE COME HERE TOGETHER

AND BOW DOWN AND ASK YOUR

KINGDOM COME.

>> Chris: THE DOCTOR

BELIEVES IT IS VITAL TO

PRAY FOR THE CHURCH OF

EGYPT.

>> FOR US TO COME HERE AND

SAY, YOU ARE NOT ALONE; WE

COME HERE AND PRAY FOR

YOU.

WE PRAY FOR THEM NOT ONCE

A YEAR.

WE PRAY FOR THEM ON A

REGULAR BASIS.

>> Chris: AND el-SISSI

WANTED PRAYER, TOO.

>> HE ASKED THE CHRISTIAN

COMMUNITY, PLEASE PRAY FOR

ME; PLEASE PRAY FOR EGYPT.

BECAUSE WE ARE IN A

BATTLE.

>> Chris: THE DELEGATION

WANTS TO BUILD A

FRIENDSHIP WITH EGYPT'S

PRESIDENT, AND ROSENBERG

SEES THE VISIT AS AN

HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY.

>> THIS IS ONE OF THOSE

RARE MOMENTS IN HISTORY

WHEN GOD ALLOWS FOLLOWERS

OF JESUS CHRIST TO BUILD

RELATIONSHIPS WITH WORLD

LEADERS, TO BE AMBASSADORS

FOR CHRIST.

THIS IS WHAT THE APOSTLE

PAUL TALKED ABOUT, THAT

WE'RE AMBASSADORS OF A

KINGDOM, CHRIST'S KINGDOM.

>> Chris: CHRIS

MITCHELL, CBN NEWS, CAIRO,

EGYPT.

>> Julie: ANOTHER MIDDLE

EAST COUNTRY IS

CONTEMPLATING CHANGE, BUT

CAN SAUDI ARABIA BE

REFORMED?

THAT'S THE VISION OF ITS

FUTURE LEADER.

DALE HURD HAS THAT STORY.

>> Reporter: SAUDI

ARABIA'S YOUNG CROWN

PRINCE WANTS TO BRING A

KINDER AND GENTLER ISLAM

TO THE DESERT KINGDOM, BUT

TRYING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

COULD BE NOT ONLY TOUGH

BUT DANGEROUS.

SINCE COMING TO POWER,

PRINCE MUHAMMAD BIN SOLMAN

HAS BEEN TRYING TO MOVE

SAUDI ARABIA AWAY FROM THE

IDEOLOGY OF ISIS.

MANY CALL IT A SOURCE OF

MODERN ISLAMIC TERRORISM.

THE PRINCE'S REFORM

PROGRAM IS PART OF A

PROGRAM CALLED "VISION

2030," INTENDED TO REMAKE

THE SAUDI ECONOMY AND

SOCIETY ALONG THE RED

SEACOAST, COSTING

$500 BILLION.

BUT REFORMING WAHABISM

WILL BE A MAJOR CHALLENGE.

IT HAS BEEN THE MAJOR

DOMINANT BRAND OF ISLAM

SINCE THE BEGINNING.

WOMEN HAVE FEW RIGHTS.

AND ONLY JUST RECENTLY

JUST GAINED THE RIGHT TO

DRIVE CARS.

THE OPEN PRACTICE OF

CHRISTIANITY IS ILLEGAL.

PUBLIC BEHEADINGS HAVE

BEEN ROUTINE.

CROWN PRINCE MUHAMMED SAYS

HE WILL OPEN THE COUNTRY

TO ALL RELIGIONS.

>> I ONLY WANT TO GO BACK

TO WHAT WE WERE, THE

MODERN ISLAM THAT IS OPEN

TO THE WORLD AND ALL

RELIGIONS.

>> Reporter: MUHAMMAD IS

SAID TO HAVE ALREADY

SIDELINED OTHER FORMS OF

RELIGIONS.

BUT HE BELIEVES

DEMOGRAPHICS ARE ON HIS

SIDE.

>> 70% OF THE SAUDI PEOPLE

ARE LESS THAN 30 YEARS

OLD.

AND, QUITE FRANKLY, WE

WILL NOT WASTE 30 YEARS OF

OUR LIVES IN DEALING WITH

EXTREMEXTREMIST IDEAS.

WE WILL DESTROY THEM

TODAY.

>> Reporter: BUT DANGER

ABOUNDS.

THE LAST TIME SOCIAL

REFORM WAS ATTEMPTED IN

1979, MILITANTS SEIZED THE

GRAND MOSQUE FOR 15 DAYS

AND CALLED FOR THE

OVERTHROW OF THE HOUSE OF

SAUDIS.

THE SAME HARD LINE

RESISTANCE IS STILL STRONG

IN SAUDI ARABIA TODAY, AND

COULD FIGHT TO PREVENT THE

KIND OF CHANGE THE PRINCE

WANTS TO BRING.

DALE HURD, CBN NEWS.

>> Julie: COMING UP, AN

EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT HOW THE

ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES ARE

HELPING CHRISTIANS TO HELP

.

>> Julie: CBN NEWS WAS

GIVEN AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT

WHAT UP UNTIL NOW WAS A

SECRET I.D.F. MISSION.

AS CHRIS MITCHELL REPORTS,

IT IS A ONE-OF-A-KIND

MIDDLE EAST STORY THAT

COMBINES THE ISRAEL

DEFENSE FORCES, THE

CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, AND

THE BRUTALITY OF THE

SYRIAN CIVIL WAR.

>> Chris: THE STORY

BEGINS HERE ON THE GOLAN

HEIGHTS IN THE DEAD OF

NIGHT.

ISRAEL SOLDIERS INSIDE

SYRIA, PROVIDING HOPE IN

THE FORM OF LIFE-SAVING

MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR

SYRIANS CAUGHT IN A LONG

AND BLOODY CIVIL WAR.

THEIR PARTNER, A CHRISTIAN

"A" GROUP CALLED FRONTIER

ALLIANCE INTERNATIONAL, OR

F.A.I..

>> WE'RE SUPPORTING THE

STATE OF ISRAEL AND WE

LOVE THE JEWISH PEOPLE.

SO TO ENGAGE THE SYRIAN

CRISIS THROUGH THE ISRAEL

BORDER IS A HUGE PRIVILEGE

FOR US AS AN ORGANIZATION.

>> Chris: ON THIS NIGHT,

DR. SALLY PARSENS AND A

TRAUMA NURSE RETURN FROM A

SEVEN-WEEK TOUR OF DUTY IN

A SYRIAN VILLAGE.

>> IT WAS VERY GOOD.

>> VERY GOOD.

>> Chris: THEY SERVED IN

THIS MAKESHIFT HOSPITAL.

WHY DID YOU GO IN?

BECAUSE THE LORD CALLS US

INTO ALL OF THE WORLD, TO

ALL NATIONS.

>> Chris: PA PARSENS, A

SURGEON FOR 30 YEARS,

FACED PROCEDURES SHE NEVER

DID BEFORE.

THEY TURNED TO PRAYER AND

EVEN YouTube.

>> HOW MANY INCISIONS, TWO

OR THREE?

>> YOU'VE GOT ME.

I THINK IT IS PROBABLY

TWO.

BUT CUTTING THE SKIN --

OKAY.

SO THEY'RE JUST GOING

LATERAL.

>> AND WE DOWNLOADED A

YouTube FOR A CESAREAN

SECTION, AND A PRAYED A

LOT MORE THAN I READ.

>> Chris: DURING HER

CAREER, PARSENS HAD NEVER

PERFORMED A C-SECTION.

IN SYRIA, SHE DID SIX.

>> WHEN I DELIVERED THAT

FIRST LITTLE BABY, I COULD

JUST SEE HIS LITTLE HANDS

ON MY HANDS, AND THAT'S

WHAT SUSTAINED US, TO BE

ABLE TO SEE NEW LIFE IN

THE MIDST OF SUCH HORRIFIC

WAR, WAS JUST A BLESSING

BEYOND BELIEF.

>> Chris: DENNISON FOUND

A HIDDEN BEAUTY BENEATH

THE VEIL OF THE WOMEN.

>> IN THE EXAM ROOM THEY

WOULD TAKE OFF THAT VEIL,

AND THEY WERE NO LONGER

HIDDEN, BUT THE BEAUTY OF

THESE PEOPLE WOULD COME

OUT, THESE WOMEN, AND IT

WAS NO LONG SOMEONE

WITHOUT A PERSONALITY, BUT

IT WAS A WOMAN WITH A LIFE

AND A WOMAN WITH THEIR

CHILDREN.

WE MET THEM IN THEIR

GLORY, WE MET THEM IN

THEIR BEAUTY, AND WE MET

THEM IN THEIR PAIN.

AND IT WAS AN AMAZING

EXPERIENCE FOR ME.

>> Chris: PARSENS AND

HER TEAM SENT THE WORST

CASES BACK TO ISRAEL.

THEIR MISSION IS PART OF A

LARGER PROJECT CALLED

"GOOD NEIGHBOR," WHERE

ISRAEL PROVIDES FOOD,

FUEL, WATER, AND MEDICAL

TREATMENT ACROSS THE

BORDER.

SO FAR ISRAEL HAS TREATED

MORE THAN 5,000 SYRIANS IN

ISRAELI HOSPITALS.

SERGEI SERVES AS THE CHIEF

MEDICAL OFFICER.

WHY DO YOU DO THIS?

>> IT IS A VERY SIMPLE

QUESTION: I CAN'T SEE THE

OBVIOUS SIDE OF THE

BORDER, AND DON'T BRING

HIM TO HELP.

THERE IS A HUGE SITUATION

THAT THEY LEAVE THERE.

AND THIS IS MY PART.

THIS IS MY OPPORTUNITY TO

BRING THEM HELP WHERE THEY

NEED IT.

I'M VERY PROUD TO DO THIS.

>> Reporter: I DON'T

KNOW OF ANOTHER MILITARY

IN THE WORLD WHO WOULD

PRIORITIZE AFFECTIONATE

ENGAGEMENT WITH THEIR

NEIGHBOR TO BUILD A GOOD

NEIGHBORHOOD.

WHAT THE I.D.F. HAS DONE

IS SAID, HEY, LET'S PUT

POLITICS TO THE SIDE AND

LET'S SEEK TO BUILD A GOOD

NEIGHBORHOOD BY BEING GOOD

NEIGHBORS.

>> I'M VERY GLAD TO BE AT

THIS POINT.

THANK YOU FOR THE F.D.I.

ORGANIZATION.

THEY BRING THE HIGH

PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL STAFF

TO HELP TO THE SYRIAN

SIDE.

THIS IS NOT SIMPLE.

I AM, ESPECIALLY AS AN

OFFICER, VERY PROUD TO BE

IN THIS SITUATION.

>> Chris: MOST OF THE

WOUNDED COME HERE TO THIS

HOSPITAL IN ISRAEL.

WE DRESSED UP IN GOWN AND

GLOVES TO SIT DOWN WITH

THESE SYRIAN MEN WHO

RECEIVED NOT ONLY A

PHYSICAL TREATMENT, BUT A

TRANSFORMATION OF THEIR

HEART.

>> ONCE I ARRIVED IN

ISRAEL, MY POINT OF VIEW

OF THE ISRAELI PEOPLE

CHANGED COMPLETELY.

I WAS TOLD THAT ISRAEL IS

A BAD GUY, THAT ISRAEL IS

THE ENEMY.

NOW I KNOW THAT IT IS JUST

THE OPPOSITE.

I THANK GOD I ARRIVED IN

ISRAEL IN TIME, BECAUSE IF

I HAD NOT COME HERE, I

WOULDN'T BE ALIVE.

>> Chris: THE TEAM

CHANGED THIS SYRIAN'S VIEW

ABOUT CHRISTIANS.

>> BEFORE, I THOUGHT THAT

CHRISTIANS WERE BAD

PEOPLE.

BUT I FOUND OUT THAT THEY

ARE GOOD PEOPLE, AND THEY

HELPED ME.

>> Chris: DURING THE

MISSION, THEY FACED BARREL

BOMBS, LIKE THIS ONE, AND

TOOK SHELTER SOME 60

TIMES.

THEY EVEN FACED THIS

RUSSIAN MIG.

>> I CONSIDERED THAT I

COULD LOSE MY LIFE HERE,

BUT I CONSIDERED IF HE

CALLED ME THERE, HE WAS

GOING TO SUSTAIN ME

THROUGH THAT, AND THAT

EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE

FINE.

>> YOU HAVE TO COUNT THE

COSTS.

DO YOU HAVE TO SAY, DO I

LOVE YOU ENOUGH THAT I'M

WILLING TO LAY DOWN MY

LIFE?

OF COURSE.

AND MY ANSWER WAS YES.

>> Chris: THOMAS CALLS

THEM HEROS.

>> THESE ARE LAID-DOWN,

SELFLESS, CHRIST-LIKE

PEOPLE.

THESE PEOPLE OF WHOM THE

WORLD IS NOT WORTHY.

>> Chris: OTHER TEAMS

ARE OPERATING INSIDE SYRIA

AND THE JOINT PROJECT IS

GROWING.

THOMAS SAYS CHRISTIANS CAN

HELP.

>> FIRST OF ALL, PRAY,

MAKE INTERCESSION.

PRAY TO THE LORD OF THE

HARVEST.

SECONDLY, COME.

IF YOU'RE A MEDICAL

PROFESSIONAL, IF YOU LOVE

THE LORD, AND IF YOU CAN

HANDLE THESE

CIRCUMSTANCES, YOU CAN

WORK IN A TEAM AND

ENVIRONMENT LIKE THIS, WE

WANT YOU AND WE NEED YOU.

>> Chris: SOME CONSIDER

THIS A GENUINE MIDDLE EAST

PEACE PLAN, JEWS HELPING

CHRISTIANS HELPING

MUSLIMS.

>> PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE.

NO MATTER WHAT LABEL WE

PUT ON THEM, MUSLIM OR

CHRISTIAN OR JEW, BUT

UNDERNEATH THE LABEL, THEY

ARE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE

THE SAME NEEDS, THEY HAVE

THE SAME PAINS AND THE

SAME HURTS THAT WE DO, AND

THEY NEED THE SAME

COMPASSION AND LOVE, NO

MATTER WHAT THE BARRIERS.

ALL PEOPLE RESPOND TO

LOVE.

AND WE WERE AS CHRISTIANS

GOING INTO A COMMUNITY

THAT DIDN'T KNOW US, AND

THEY HAVE AN HISTORIC

ANIMOSITY TOWARD

CHRISTIANS, BUT ALL IT

TOOK WAS AN EXPRESSION OF

LOVE AND WE WERE WELCOMED

WITH OPEN ARMS.

>> Chris: CHRIS

MITCHELL, CBN NEWS,

NORTHERN ISRAEL.

>> Julie: UP NEXT, 100

YEARS SINCE THIS WORLD WAR

I BATTLE CHANGED THE

MIDDLE EAST AND PAVED THE

WAY FOR THE JEWISH STATE.

>> Julie: THE ISRAELI

CITY OF BEERSHEBA IS

MARKING THE 100th

ANNIVERSARY OF AN E EPIC

WORLD WAR I BATTLE THAT

GAVE GREAT BRITAIN CONTROL

OF THE CITY.

IT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE

THAT VICTORY HELPED SET

THE STAGE FOR THE

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE

JEWISH STATE.

>> Chris: ISRAELI PRIME

MINISTER BENJAMIN

NETANYAHU WELCOMED THE

AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER

AND NEW ZEALAND GOVERNOR

TO COMMEMORATE THE

BRITISH, AUSTRALIAN AND

NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS AND

THE LIGHT HORSE REGIMEN

NEARLY 4,000 YEARS AGO.

>> ABRAHAM CAME TO

BEERSHEBA, THE CITY OF

SEVEN WELLS.

EXACTLY 100 YEARS AGO

BRAVE ANSAK SOLDIERS

LIBERATED BEERSHEBA FOR

THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF

JERUSALEM, AND OPENED THE

GATEWAY FOR THE JEWISH

PEOPLE TO RE-ENTER THE

GATE OF HISTORY.

>> AND THOSE MAD

AUSTRALIANS TOOK THE TOWN

OF BEERSHEBA.

THEY SECURED THE VICTORY.

IT DID NOT CREATE THE

STATE OF ISRAEL, BUT

ENABLED ITS CREATION.

>> Chris: THE BATTLE FOR

BEERSHEBA WAS A TURNING

POINT IN THE BRITISH

CONQUEST OF THE MIDDLE

EAST.

THAT ENABLED ALLENBY TO

WALK THROUGH THE JAFFA

GATE HERE ON DECEMBER 11,

1917, AS THE VICTOR IN THE

BATTLE FOR JERUSALEM.

ALLENBY, THE FIRST

CHRISTIAN CONQUEROR IN

CENTURIES ENTERED THE GATE

ON FOOT OUT OF RESPECT FOR

THE AUSTRALIAN CITY.

>> THE CHARGE OF THE

AUSTRALIANS, I THOUGHT,

WAS SIGNIFICANT.

BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER

TRAINED TO DO THIS.

THEY GO UP TO THE FRONT

LINE ON HORSE, GET OFF,

AND GO IN AS INFANTRY.

THEY NEVER TRAINED FOR IT.

UPWARDS OF 600 OF THESE

MEN WERE GIVEN THE ORDER

AND THEY DID IT.

>> Chris: AN AUSTRALIAN

AUTHOR TEAMED UP WITH THE

DIRECTOR OF THE AUSTRALIAN

LIGHT HORSE ASSOCIATION,

BARRY WATERS, TO REENACT

THE CHARGE.

MORE THAN 100 UNIFORMED

HORSEMEN RODE IN THE

EVENT.

>> FORWARD, MARCH.

>> THEY HAD TO GET INTO

BEEBEERSHEBA BEFORE THE SUN

WENT DOWN BECAUSE THE

TURKS WERE BEGINNING TO

DESTROY THE WATER WELLS.

>> IT WAS THE ACTION THAT

BROUGHT THE BACK OF THE

OTTOMAN EMPIRE.

>> Chris: AT THE SAME

TIME, A MONUMENTAL

DECISION WAS BEING MADE IN

BRITAIN.

>> WHAT IS SO AMAZING, ON

THE SAME DAY, AT ABOUT THE

SAME TIME AS THIS EVENT

TOOK PLACE, THE MEMBERS OF

THE BRITISH WAR CABINET

WERE MEETING IN LONDON,

AND THEY VOTED ON WHAT WE

NOW KNOW IS THE BALFOUR

DECLARATION, AND THE

ESTABLISHMENT OF A

NATIONAL HOME FOR THE

JEWISH PEOPLE IN

PALESTINE.

>> Chris: AUSTRALIANS

AND ?IEW NEW ZEALANDERS ARE

EXTREMELY PROUD OF THEIR

HISTORY.

>> MY GREAT GRANDFATHER

HELD THE BACK DOOR OPEN

AND HELD OFF THE TURKISH.

>> YOU FEEL PROUD AND YOU

FEEL A BUILT OVERWHELMED,

TO BE AROUND AND TO HAVE

BEEN AT THE CEMETERY THIS

MORNING AND SEEING ALL OF

THE GRAVESTONES OF MY

GREAT GRANDFATHER'S MATES

IS AMAZING AND HUMBLING.

>> Chris: EARLIER IN THE

DAY, THOSE CELEBRATING

WATCHED THE LIGHT HORSEMAN

PARADE DOWN THE MAIN

STREET.

>> TO BE HERE AT THE PLACE

WHERE THE AUSTRALIAN

VICTORY OCCURRED WAS

INCREDIBLE, BOTH MEN AND

HORSES.

>> IT IS ALL PART OF THEIR

NATIONAL PSYCHE.

>> I THINK IT IS ANOTHER

DISPLAY OF HIS

AWESOMENESS, AND HOW

HISTORY IS MADE WITH HIM

IN THE SCENARIO, AND GOD

BEING GOD AND WHO HE IS

AND EVERYTHING THAT HE

REPRESENTS.

AND WE GET TO BE A PART OF

IT.

>> Chris: AUSTRALIA'S

PRIME MINISTER SUMMED UP

THE PART HIS COUNTRYMEN

HAD PLAYED.

>> THEY DEFIED HISTORY,

THEY MADE HISTORY, AND

WITH THEIR COURAGE, THEY

FULFILLED HISTORY.

>> Chris: CHRIS

MITCHELL, CBN NEWS.

UP...HOW THE LIGHT

LIGHT HORSEMEN WIN THE

Show us your Junk! - Mick Horley's Suzuki GSX750E - Duration: 5:45.

welcome to a brand-new segment I like to call show us your junk

G'day everybody and welcome back yes so in a channel update recently I mentioned that I was going to

revive the subscriber bike series I'm not going to revive that series per se

I'm going to call this series show us your junk and I'm going to put up videos in here

on a number of the bikes that I already have information on that people have sent

me and my mates bikes etcetera I'm not opening the floodgates at this stage and

I'm not asking people to send me in photos or information on their bikes yet

I'll see how this goes I'll see how its received and see whether or not we have

any issues with it and if I'm comfortable then we'll proceed the

the reason why I wouldn't be comfortable is because that first bike that I put up

that XS1100 in the subscriber bike series of since pulled video down as I

mentioned the guy was a charlatan and I got quite cranky about about that whole

thing and I decided I wasn't going to do any more but here we are alright so

first cab off the rank for the new series is Mick Horley and Mick Horley

has a GSX 750 E so E that puts it, whats that, '80 to '82 somewhere around that and

I've got all the information here on my email from Mick so thanks Mick and I'll

just run through some of the mods now and I'll put up the photos and we'll do

a bit of a montage with it okay so some of the

information about the bike it's using an Aprilia Shiver upside down fork front

end it's got custom-made front guard and brackets Clubman bars

he's fitted LED front headlight and 1250 Bandit swing up Aprilia Shiver wheels

and brakes custom rear mono shock mount custom made seat modified Triumph

Thruxton rear cowl made two inches narrower with an austin-healey tail light and I

think that looks absolutely fantastic it's got a custom made chain guard rearset

mounts and gauge bracket and it's mounted up with an Acewell speedo

there's LED indicators with a safe turn system mikuni RS flat slide pumper carbs

four into one stainless exhaust cylinder bores were honed and pistons were

fitted with new rings so in essence the engine configuration is very similar to

basket case with the mikuni flat slides and a four into one valve guides and seats were

overhauled and a new valve stem seals and new gaskets throughout entire engine

it's all aluminium polishing done at home

it was lucky enough to find a brand new fuel tank

poor old basket case still got that issue with my fuel tank so you're lucky

to pick that one up it was painted he painted the guards and

the cowl to match with the wurth cans of spray paint w u r t h the frame has

been powder-coated it's got barend blinkers and mirrors all electrics

are hidden under the seat and the battery is under the cowl all the work

and painting was done by Mick in the garage at home apart from the powder

coating and the rear sprocket which had to be modified

as he couldn't cut that hard a steel at home there's a couple of photos that Mick

sent me of some rides he did recently one was up to Stanwell tops rode

through the National Park and through Wollongong down to Albion Park up to

Macquarie Macquarie Pass to Moss Vale and then country roads home again and about

three hundred KLM's and the comment was bike went well and was fairly

comfortable come on Mick fairly comfortable and there's also some photographs from

the DJR the distinguished gentleman's ride that he did obviously in

September so yeah there's a quick look at a Mick's

GSX 750 E and I want to thank you Mike for sending that in he's also got

another Suzuki at home he's fiddling with at the moment now for his brother

who works overseas and Mick is very kindly putting some effort into having a

bike that his brother can go riding with him well that's it that's the first

installment of show us your junk I hope you enjoyed that and if you did don't forget

to like subscribe and comment and I'll catch you next time on Andy's

Motorcycle Obsessions bye for now

you

I am tasting plum...with hints of violet.

And then licorice and, um, barberry.

Hmm, it seems the fruit was harvested too early.

Oh, why do you say that?

Because I'm tasting notes of statutory grape.

Mmm. (Sustaining off-key note) (laughing) -Shh!

Shh, shh!

I'm thinking it might be the outside ones that...

You can tilt. No!

No, no, no.

Ooh! (stammers) (Scream-singing continues)

(all laughing) Rystar!

That says rystar!

Uh, Rystar... knight!

Rystar means knight!

Night!

Uh... nighttime!

KATHERINE: No, here, here, here!

Here's the knight, here's the knight!

55!

Ooh, the lock, the lock.

Oh, I can't breathe.

I can't breathe!

I can't breathe!

Photos.

I'm claustrophobic, can you let me out?

Let me out! -(pounding on door) Let me out!

Let me out! (Buzzer sounds) Oy.

Ta-da!

I escaped us. -(Sighs) -Stupid.

Assassin's Creed Origins: Developer Q&A - History & Setting | Ubisoft [US] - Duration: 5:30.

Hi, my name is Maxime Durand.

I'm the franchise Historian working on Assassin's Creed.

I'm super excited to be here to answer your questions regarding

Assassin's Creed Origins.

Which aspect of Egypt as a historical setting

was the most difficult to tackle and why?

Having the opportunity to work on an environment

like ancient Egypt is incredible.

For us, it's all about doing the historical research

because most of ancient Egypt is gone today.

Cities have disappeared and the information that we have

is relied on archeology mostly.

And so we work with Historians, we work with Archaeologist,

and the world famous Jacques Guilmain to actually recreate

Egypt.

Jacques Guilmain he's an artist, he's

also an architect, and archaeologist.

And he's drawing all the paintings.

And so he's doing the same process

that we do with concept art and then

he's created exclusive content for us

to recreate cities that were lost,

like Memphis and Alexandria.

So really going into the details of what ancient Egypt was

like back then, then we can recreate that into the game

and adapted it for the purpose of our game

with game play, with the characters, with fiction.

At the point of history in which Bayek is going through,

how notorious were the Medjay?

What allowed people to distinguish whether one

was a Medjay or not?

So at that time in history, Medjay are very old in Egypt.

They've been there for about 2000 years.

First they were a nomadic tribes people, probably

fighters that were integrated as a police force.

Protecting people, protecting the Pharaoh.

By the time of Bayek, however, Medjays

are less popular because they're being replaced

by the Greek rulers police force, which

are called the [INAUDIBLE] Bayek however, is a Medjay from Siwa.

Which is very remote in the desert.

And at that point, [INAUDIBLE] haven't yet replaced them.

But everywhere else in Egypt the term Medjay

is still recognized as a protector, as a police force,

but they are disappearing.

From the new trailer, it looks like Romans

will play a much larger role than I had

expected in a central story.

Without getting too heavily into it, how involved

is the Roman presence in Bayek's journey compared

to the more internal Civil War?

So creating this game is an awesome opportunity for us,

because it is so rich in terms of geopolitical fights

and situations.

Rome is in a state of civil war at that time.

Egypt is also in a state of civil war at that time.

And their history will intertwine at the moment

where Julius Caesar will go to Egypt

to find his arch enemy, who is hiding there, Pompey Magnus.

At the same time, Ptolemy XIII will

kill [INAUDIBLE] Pompeius Magnus and offer his head

to Julius Caesar.

Cleopatra, who is the queen in exile away from her brother

and husband, Ptolemy XIII, will also get intertwined

into that story, will [? back, ?] will find his way.

And also this will create a very big opportunity for us

to craft a story about the creation of the brotherhood,

a story of [INAUDIBLE],, and the [INAUDIBLE] kingdom of Egypt.

Were all weapons appearing in the game actually used

during that time?

In creating this new game, we wanted

to bring a lot of efforts in the fight system.

And so we wanted to offer a vast variety and range of weapons.

So we look into Egyptian weapons like the [INAUDIBLE]

we'll be handling.

We look into Greek and Roman weapons

also because they were present in ancient Egypt.

And then we look at the inspiration from other tribes

that could be around Egypt or societies

that were around that could trade with Egypt.

So we tried to bring some perspective

on weapons that could have made their way into Egypt.

But truthfully, when it comes to all the different weapons

in the game, you see that the historical weapons we have

a description in that sense.

And weapons are more about fun and game play

will be more described in such an instance.

So it will be clear the line between historical weapons

and some of the weapons that are more fantastic and fun to play

with also.

What would you say is this split between historical accuracy

and creativity of the team and why this percentage?

First, there is no percentage that's real.

We have to understand that the way we make these games

is that we take the information, the historical data,

and try to integrate that into the game

that we're going to make.

We have no videos of ancient Egypt, and it's a lost world.

So we try to be very creative about the way

that we interpret that.

So very early on, I remembered that this Egyptologist

[INAUDIBLE] that we worked with, she mentioned that people had

really bad heat because of the sand that was everywhere

in Egypt.

So it was integrated into their food.

So what it means for us is that we

have to think how this will be in the world, how

this will affect the game that we're making.

So maybe it means that there's sand all the time on people's

houses, around their gardens.

So they have to broom that away, for instance.

And maybe it's because they will have sand in their eyes.

So we have to think, animation-wise,

how this is going to be reproduced

because we have actors going to a studio around a green screen.

They have to imagine what is ancient Egypt also.

History is a big puzzle box, and most of the pieces are missing.

And then we have to make a complete picture

to create this game that we are going

to play and to have this whole adventure and narrative.

And so we have to find a good balance between historical data

and then create a vision to make this game live in your hands.

An Asteroid Visited Us From Outside the Solar System! - Duration: 5:03.

[♪ INTRO]

Even though we spend tons of time studying them,

it's impossible for us to visit other star systems, at least, right now.

But recently, a visitor from another system came to see us.

On October 19, astronomers at the University of Hawaii noticed something new in the sky,

and at first, it seemed like a regular asteroid, less than half a kilometer wide.

Except, when they mapped its path through space,

they found that it's moving way too fast to be orbiting the Sun.

That means, as far as anyone can tell, this newly discovered asteroid is the first one

we've ever seen from outside the solar system!

The asteroid is currently known as A/2017 U1,

and astronomers have searched for objects like it for decades.

They expect that, when new planetary systems form, the planets' gravity should occasionally

slingshot some leftover rocks into interstellar space.

And every once in awhile, one of those lonely rocks should enter another star system, like

ours, carrying chemical clues about the neighborhood it came from.

But we've never actually seen one of these interstellar tourists before, which is why

A/2017 U1 is so exciting.

At first, astronomers thought that U1 was just a Near-Earth Object, our name for any

large rock whose orbit passes near Earth's.

But when they calculated its speed and trajectory, they discovered that it can't be an NEO:

Those all orbit the Sun, and U1 is just going too fast to be held,

or even slowed down, by the Sun's gravity.

And we don't know of anything along its path that could've sped it up so much.

Which means it must've fallen toward the Sun from somewhere else,

probably from the direction of the constellation Lyra.

Right now, U1 is rocketing out of the solar system at about 44 kilometers per second,

or almost twice as fast as the average asteroid.

And unfortunately, it'll probably never come back.

Researchers all over the world will spend the next few weeks

frantically pointing telescopes at U1, hoping to learn as much as they can

about its trajectory, composition, and behavior before it leaves for good.

But they don't have long.

After a month or so, it'll be so far from the Sun

that even our best telescopes won't be able to see it any more.

Now, it's completely possible that all this research will end up revealing a much more

normal explanation of U1's impressive speed.

After all, it was just discovered, so we hardly know anything about it.

And even if it is from somewhere else, we might not have enough time with U1 to learn

much more about where it came from or what it's made of.

But for now, this rock seems like it's the closest we've ever been

to a piece of another star system.

So, thanks for swinging by, U1!

Now, as far as we know, everything else around the Sun has been here since the beginning.

And one of those rocks is the dwarf planet Ceres in the asteroid belt, where NASA's

Dawn spacecraft has been orbiting for more than two years.

Two new studies, published this month, have used data from Dawn to support the idea that

Ceres used to have oceans, by finding ways that

the ocean's remnants could still be affecting its surface.

The first study, published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, used measurements

of Ceres's gravity and shape to calculate the density of rocks on and beneath its surface.

When there are denser rocks, or something with a lot of mass, like a mountain,

the gravitational pull of that spot will be stronger.

And that can help us figure out what an object is made of.

Using this data, the researchers found that Ceres's crust just isn't dense enough

to be made of regular rocks, which we basically already knew.

But in this new paper, the scientists proposed that there's water-ice mixed in with the

rocks, along with salts and something known as clathrate hydrate, or trapped gas bubbles

surrounded by water molecules.

And the second study, published in Earth and Planetary Science Letters,

found the same thing.

It confirmed and added to those findings by looking more closely at how Ceres's surface

seems to have changed over time.

We know that harder rocks like iron tend to keep their shape

better than softer or waterlogged rocks do, so the more flattened areas on Ceres's surface

are probably made of softer, less dense rock.

Except, these researchers also found that Ceres is made of pretty strong stuff.

So the only way they could reconcile Ceres's low density with its strong crust was if the

crust was made of a combination of rocks, ice, salts, and clathrate hydrate.

And if that sounds familiar, that's because that's exactly what the first study's

authors found, based on different measurements and methods.

All that water in Ceres's crust supports the idea that Ceres originally had oceans

on its surface that have since frozen or escaped into space.

Which is pretty awesome for a dwarf planet.

The second study's authors also pointed out that Ceres's insides seem weaker than

the outer crust, which could mean that there's still some liquid water leftover after all.

But before you get your submarines ready, we still need more data to be sure.

Fortunately, NASA announced that they'll be extending the Dawn mission a second time,

and it'll be closer to Ceres than ever before

until it runs out of fuel sometime late next year.

So, our interstellar visitor U1 might be speeding away from the solar system, but we still have

lots of cool stuff to study here, too.

WHY NORTH KOREA MUST FEAR THE TRIDENT II MISSILE OF U.S?? TOP 5 FACTS - Duration: 7:55.

Two U.S. strategic bombers conducted drills over South Korea on Thursday, the U.S. Air

Force said, raising tensions with North Korea just days before President Donald Trump visits

the region seeking to shut down Pyongyang's nuclear program.

News of the drills was first reported by North Korean state news agency KCNA on Friday, which

said the exercises involving South Korean and Japanese fighter jets were a "surprise

nuclear strike drill".

Trump arrives in Asia on Sunday, beginning his first trip to the region as president

in Japan before heading to South Korea and China, then Vietnam and the Philippines.

A series of missile tests by North Korea and its sixth and largest nuclear test have fueled

the most critical international challenge of Trump's presidency.

As the situation escalates , in this video, Defense Updates analyzes WHY NORTH KOREA MUST

FEAR THE TRIDENT II MISSILE OF U.S?

The UGM-133A Trident II, or Trident D5 is a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM),

built by Lockheed Martin Space Systems in Sunnyvale, California, and deployed with the

American and British navies.

It was first deployed in March 1990 and remains in service. The Trident II Strategic Weapons

System is an improved SLBM with greater accuracy, payload, and range than the earlier Trident

I. It is a key element of the U.S. strategic nuclear triad.

Nuclear tried is the ability to launch strategic nuclear weapons from land, sea and air. The

missile was developed to strengthen U.S. strategic deterrence.

Trident II was designed to be more advanced than Trident I which was retired in 2005 . It

has greater range and payload capacity. It is accurate enough to be used as a first strike

weapon.

The Trident II is a three-stage rocket, each stage containing a solid-fuel rocket motor.

The first stage is made by Thiokol and Hercules Inc. This first stage incorporates a solid

propellant motor, parts to ensure first-stage ignition, and a thrust vector control (TVC)

system.

The first- and second-stage motors are connected by an interstage casing, which contains electronic

equipment and ordnance for separation during flight. The second stage also contains a motor

made by Thiokol and Hercules Inc., parts to ensure the second-stage ignition, and a TVC

The second- and third-stage sections are connected by an integrated equipment/adapter section (ES).

The third-stage contains critical guidance and flight control avionics, such as the Mk

6 navigation system. This stage also contains the TVC system, ordnance for ejecting from

the second-stage motor, and the MIRV platform. The nose fairing shields the payload and third-stage

motor.

The missile is 13.579 m in length , 2.11 m in diameter and weigh in at 130,000 lb or

59,000 kg. It is reinforced by carbon fiber and kevlar

to maximize strength-to-weight ratio.

Trident II missiles are carried by 14 US Ohio class submarines.

The 14 Ballistic Missile Submarines of Ohio class together carry approximately 50% of

the total US active inventory of strategic thermonuclear warheads. The Ohio-class submarines

is the largest submarines ever built for the U S Navy having a displacement of 16764 tonnes.

The Soviet-designed Typhoon-class submarines have more than twice the total displacement,

and Russia's Borei-class submarines have roughly 25% greater displacement than Ohio,

but the Ohio-class boats carry more missiles than either: 24 Trident missiles apiece, versus

16 by the Borei class , 20 by the Borei II and 20 by the Typhoon class.

Ohio class is nuclear powered and hence it has unlimited range , constrained by only

food supply. Since submarine-based nuclear weapons tend to be the least vulnerable, and

therefore these are best suited for second-strike missions.

This is what makes Trident II a deadly weapon, as it is virtually impossible to neutralize

the missiles with a preemptive strike.

The Trident is so efficient that even next generation of US & UK submarines will field

them.

The Ohios are forecast to move out of service between 2027 and 2040. But the incoming Columbia

class—the first vessel of which is scheduled to enter service in 2031—will continue to

deploy the Trident II. And a common missile compartment, designed to house the missiles,

will be a feature of both the Columbia design and the incoming British Dreadnought-class

submarines, which will begin to replace the current UK Vanguard class from 2028.

Trident II missile has a speed of approximately Mach 24 or 8,060 m/s in terminal phase. The missile has a range of more than

7,500 mi or 12,000 km. This range enables the missile to be launched from far off from

the target.

There have been 161 successful test flights of the Trident II missile since design completion

in 1989, the most recent being from the USS Maryland in August 2016 clearly demonstrating

the dependability and readiness of the missile.

The missile has an accuracy of 90 m making it only of the most accurate long range strategic

missile in the world.

The Trident I| is Multiple Independently Reentry vehicle (MIRV) capable and hence can carry

multiple warheads with each warhead being assigned to a different target. It can be

configured with 2 types of MIRV. The Mark 5 MIRV can carry up to 14 W88 (475

kt) warheads, while the Mark 4 MIRV having the ability to carry 14 W76 (100 kt) warheads.

To give viewer a perspective, Little Boy atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima had a yield of 15

kt of TNT and Fat Man atomic bomb that was detonated over Nagasaki had a yield of 21

kt of TNT.

New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) between the United States and the Russian

Federation agreed on having only 8 warheads per missile, so currently Trident II has MIRV

with 8 warheads.

A full salvo from an Ohio-class submarine—which can be launched in less than one minute—could

unleash up to 24 Trident II missiles each with 8 warheads i.e. 192 nuclear warheads

in total. This is enough to obliterate huge portion of earth's land mass.

North Korean defector says even a limited attack by U.S. would trigger all-out war - Duration: 8:23.

JUDY WOODRUFF: As we reported earlier, President Trump departed today for a lengthy trip to

Asia.

At the top of the agenda will be coordinating pressure against North Korea.

The regime of Kim Jong-un has made significant advances in its nuclear and missile programs.

The core message of the president's trip: We will not allow North Korea to have the

capability to launch a nuclear-tipped missile that can hit the United States.

So , how does North Korea view its weapons programs and the Trump administration's approach?

We turn to former North Korean diplomat Thae Yong-Ho.

He was once North Korea's deputy chief of mission in London.

He defected last year, and now lives in South Korea.

Mr. Thae, thank you very much for joining us.

You were telling us that you led a pretty privileged life as a diplomat working for

the North Korean government.

Why did you defect?

THAE YONG-HO, Former North Korean Diplomat: It's really a complex reasons of my defection.

First of all, I didn't agree with Kim Jong-un's desperate race of nuclear and ICBM programs,

which can finally make North Korea totally destroyed.

And, secondly, because of my future of my sons, I thought that, as a father, the best

legacy I should leave for my son is to let them -- freed.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Is your -- we know that this is a regime that takes defectors very seriously.

Are you and your family safe?

THAE YONG-HO: Oh, at this moment, I'm not quite sure whether my family members or relatives

are safe.

I have one...

JUDY WOODRUFF: The ones who are still in North Korea?

THAE YONG-HO: Yes.

I have one sister and a brother in North Korea.

And, for propaganda work, last April, North Korea invited CNN team to have an interview

with my brother and my sister.

And, in that interview, they cursed me a lot.

But, at that time, I was really happy to see their faces again, because I didn't imagine

that I could see them again in my life, after my defection.

JUDY WOODRUFF: So, as someone who worked in the diplomatic field for the North Korean

government through many years, what can you tell us about the mind-set of Kim Jong-un?

THAE YONG-HO: Oh, Kim Jong-un is not a madman.

He is an intelligent guy, but with a merciless mind.

So, the past five years of his rule in North Korea proved that he wants to destroy anything

in his way, no matter whether it is a country or a human being.

He has persecuted hundreds of senior leaders in North Korea in his five-years term, including

his family members, like his uncle and his half-brother.

JUDY WOODRUFF: His own half-brother.

What do you understand to be his view of the United States?

We have seen his nuclear buildup, the missile buildup.

What is your sense of what he thinks he can accomplish when it comes to the United States?

THAE YONG-HO: Oh, he has a kind of illusion that, if he acquires these nuclear weapons

and ICBMs, he could be able to compel Washington to pull U.S. troops out of South Korea, and

once U.S. troops leave South Korea, then foreign investments would follow U.S. troops out of

vehicle, and if that is the case, then the South Korean business also would leave.

Then it can -- he can stabilize the whole South Korean system with his nuclear weapons.

JUDY WOODRUFF: But we haven't seen that happen, of course.

And what we are seeing is this administration, the Trump administration, pursuing a very

aggressive policy toward the North.

What do you see as the effects of that on the North?

THAE YONG-HO: I think the -- Kim Jong-un has been very desperate to develop its ICBM and

nuclear.

And he even sent a lot of rhetoric, warnings and provocations of nuclear tests and ICBM

tests.

But I think we should admit that some rhetoric by President Trump and the unpredictable character

of President Trump actually worked to some extent to stop his desperate escalation of

this conflict.

For instance, when Kim Jong-un warned the possible tests around Guam, the American territory,

then President Trump responded with fire and fury.

JUDY WOODRUFF: The comments, right.

THAE YONG-HO: And that kind of very strong response by President Trump actually stopped

Kim Jong-un to have a test around Guam.

That's why he changed his direction of ICBM from Guam to Pacific Ocean over the Japanese

territory.

JUDY WOODRUFF: So, you're saying, to some extent, it's had a positive effect on the

North?

THAE YONG-HO: Yes, I believe it's so.

JUDY WOODRUFF: We know now from reporting that there are those in the Trump administration

who have put forward the notion of a -- the possibility of a limited strike, an attack

against the North in order to punish the North and to keep it from developing its nuclear

and missile program, in the belief that that could be effective.

How do you think the North would respond?

THAE YONG-HO: I think even a limited strike, like kind of a surgical strike, by the U.S.

can bring a full-scale conflict or war on Korean Peninsula, because all North Korean

military have been trained to fire back anyway if one of their -- or even a very small part

of North Korea is attacked by the U.S.

And given the fact that more than 10 million of South Korean population are living within

100 range of tens of thousands of North Korean artillery and missiles, I think that kind

of immediate and automatic response from the North Korean military can create huge human

loss on the South Korean side.

And if that's the case, then I think American and South Korean forces may retaliate in full

scale.

Then that's why, you know, it will easily escalate into a full-scale war on Korean Peninsula,

which would mean huge human sacrifice.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Huge, almost unthinkable.

You have also talked to us, Mr. Thae, about what you think would be effective.

You're saying some of the tough talk from President Trump has been effective.

But you have also said that there should be a better effort to communicate with the North,

to reach out to the North.

What do you mean by that?

THAE YONG-HO: I think we should engage and even try a dialogue with Kim Jong-un, and

also we should engage to break the isolation of North Korean people.

I think we can disseminate the more outside information to educate North Korean people,

so that we can help North Korean people to make a change.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Fascinating.

Fascinating to see where this is going to lead.

Thae Yong-Ho, we thank you so much for talking with us.

THAE YONG-HO: Thank you very much for this opportunity.

North Korea all-out war 'IMMINENT' US nuke bombers race to peninsula - Duration: 3:05.

North Korea all-out war 'IMMINENT' US nuke bombers race to peninsula

"The gangster-like US imperialists are the very one who is aggravating the situation of the Korean Peninsula" KCNA The advanced B-1B nuclear strategic bombers staged a strike in a bid to destroy the countrys major weapons programme, according to Kim Jong-un's propaganda mouthpiece.

KCNA reported that US President Donald Trump ordered the planes to fly from Guam to the Sangdong firing range in South Korea to conduct nuke dropping drills.

The move sparked panic in Pyongyang as the test was staged as the super-large nuke carrier USS Ronald Reagan was near North Korean waters at the time.

The secretive regime later blasted the US for "seeking to ignite nuclear war". KCNA said: "The gangster-like US imperialists are ceaselessly resorting to their frantic nuclear threat and blackmail to stifle North Korea with nukes at any cost.

"They let a formation of B-1B nuclear strategic bombers stationed at the Anderson Air Force Base on Guam stealthily fly into South Korea again to stage a surprise nuclear strike drill targeting the North.

"The reality clearly shows that the gangster-like US imperialists are the very one who is aggravating the situation of the Korean Peninsula and seeking to ignite a nuclear war.".

It added: "The US is making a last-ditch effort to check the dynamic advance of the North by deploying their nuclear strategic assets in succession, but its army and people are never frightened at such moves." Last month US Air Force commanders sent the B-2 warplane over the Pacific in what was described as a proof of its "commitment" to its allies in Asia.

North Korea has increasingly ramped up fears of nuclear war as it threatens to detonate a nuke over the Pacific.

It comes as Trump prepares to visit South Korea and Asian allies in a major tour of of the region, starting on Sunday. There was no immediate confirmation from the U.S. and South Korean militaries.
