hi guys so today I'm going to talk to you about summer fitness
it's probably unusual hearing that phrase especially with the weather being
as cold as it is and being as far away from as it is from actual summer but if
you think about it for a second how long does it take you to get in shape
sometimes it takes you a couple of months sometimes it takes you a couple
of years depending on just how deconditioned and out of shape you
actually are but it usually doesn't take just a couple of weeks and even if it
you're only losing wanting to lose you know half a stone or a stone and it
takes your body longer than you might realize to start to metabolize that fat
so if you only give yourself four weeks to get in shape for summer then you
might only in find that you can lose a couple of pounds in that four weeks
because you've not prepped and got your body ready to actually lose the weight
and I know about all the crash diets and the shake programs where they all
promise to make you lose half a stone in a couple of weeks but what tends to
happen in those systems is that you actually lose mostly water and muscle
and yeah you'll lose weight on the scales but you won't really lose that much fat
and what actually happens in a lot of those processes is that you actually
start to reduce your metabolic activity so you you burn less calories which
makes it harder to lose weight in the future and going forward because if you
crash diet the only thing that happens is your body lowers its metabolic rate
so that you actually burn less energy so kind of there's less energy coming in so
we'll reduce our output so that we don't burn as much so we've got more to keep
and so crash dieting only tends to work in the short term but if you give
yourself ample time to start to lose weight get
fitter be healthier all that type of stuff and build some real habits into
your body like going to the gym or going to exercise classes or going to see your
trainer on a regular basis and watching what you're eating so that your you
start to put healthier foods into your body on a regular basis and catering to
your hydration so that you're getting enough water on a regular basis then all of
these things start to add up and start to repay you so you'll start to look
fitter you'll start to feel healthier you'll start to have more energy and as
all of those things go up your ability to go to the gym more goes up your
desire to go to the gym and more goes up but it all starts by giving yourself
enough time to actually get yourself in shape so even though we are several
months away from summer now is the time to start thinking about getting in shape
for summer not in two or three months you start then you want to be taking
action now and that might be just going to one exercise class a week to build
your body up and and get build up your confidence that you can handle
the exercises or getting yourself out well it's icy but getting
yourself walking or going on a treadmill and doing some bodyweight squats at home
or some some bodyweight exercises at home keeping an eye on your water intake
now and planning to or not planning but actually getting in a habit of drinking
more water and most people don't even after being told over and over again
most people don't get enough water through their systems they continuously
underestimate the value of keeping themselves hydrated so as an example of this
most people aren't aware that it's actually really hard for your body to
metabolize breakdown and utilize fat if you're dehydrated so one of the things
that you could do right now today is start drinking more water and increase
your hydration which is going to make you stronger because you need water to
make your muscles work it's gonna release more fatty acid into your body
so you can burn it off so you're gonna burn that energy and lose the weight
it's gonna make your organs work better it's going to bring your brain work more
effectively so you'll be able to think faster and one of the constants that I
tend to hear from people is that oh I don't have enough energy I don't have
enough time well you increase your water intake and hydrate your body properly
and you'll find the you can complete tasks quicker so generally you have more
time and when you complete those tasks you don't feel as drained from doing
them so you have more energy but it starts now and you could wait a week or
four weeks but how many weeks are you going to put off getting yourself in
shape for summer just imagine the last time that you got
in shape for summer or didn't and how you felt when you got to the summer
season and you were at the pool in your swimwear and did you feel confident if
you did great but I'd be willing to bet that you were doing something to get
yourself feeling more confident if you didn't feel confident let me ask you
this how much time did you give yourself to get in shape or maybe you didn't do
anything to get yourself in shape you just rocked up on holiday stripped off
your clothes gotten your swimwear and went oh I forgot to do anything to to
get myself in shape so if the situation I've just described sounds like you and
you want this year to be different know that it's not too late now
especially if you take action straight away to start getting yourself in
amazing shape for this summer all you have to do is take a few positive steps
drink more water go and exercise get a trainer it's it's
