Annihilation is Confusing (or, why it's so fun to watch) - Duration: 5:27.

- How long did you think you were inside?

Annihilation is a film fueled by mystery. It follows the story of a former soldier

turned cellular biologist and grieving widow, Lena, whose presumed dead husband,

Kane, suddenly returns from a covert military operation with little to no

memory of his experience, only for him and Lena to be taken by the military as

a strange phenomenon known simply as 'The Shimmer' slowly engulfs the southern

coast and morphs everything within its boundary beyond comprehension.

Looking to find a way to help her husband Lena joins the latest expedition

into the Shimmer and witnesses all of its strange oddities firsthand. It's a

plot filled with all sorts of vagaries that, admittedly, had me scratching my

head in confusion, but it hooked me nonetheless. There's just something about

its dreamlike tone, its complex themes, and the way it twists the familiar into the

unknown that stuck with me. And today, I want to talk about why this makes

Annihilation so fun to watch. And yes, potential spoilers ahead, as well as a

content warning for disturbing imagery.

Annihilation's visual and aural design gives its sci-fi approach a tangible sense of unreality.

The Shimmer around which the story is set is littered with a rainbow of hues and tones, from its

hypnotic boundary wall to the multicolored light flares inside. The

landscapes within are similarly refracted, with the dense green forests

and grasslands looking as if they've been broken down into a cacophony of

blues, reds, yellows, pinks, and so on. The wildlife within the Shimmer strikes

an uncanny balance of being recognizably terrestrial, and yet, distinctly alien,

ranging from the oddly beautiful, to the hauntingly ominous,

to the downright terrifying.

This is emphasized by the soundtrack and the cinematography, whose deep synths and

surreal imagery respectively add to the dense atmosphere and help build a

harrowing dread in the audience. The film's visual and aural designs blend

together to give the film an almost dreamlike quality that toes the line

between morbidly fascinating and nightmarish. And it's all in service of

the existential focus of the film. Now, it's hard to talk about Annihilation's

themes, without completely spoiling it, and I do feel that this is one of those

films that is best seen knowing as little as possible, so I'll do my best not to go

into too much detail. Although, if yous want, I could do a thematic analysis of the

film later, but then again I feel like there's probably more than enough people

who've done a better job of that than I could. But, I'm getting off topic here.

Annihilation's core themes can be hard to decipher, and there are many ways in

which to interpret it, such as seeing it as an analogy for cancer, or addiction, or

even infidelity. And I think the clever thing about the movie is that it's built

to accommodate these varying interpretations under its broad yet

specific thematic through line, which is life's inherent tendency toward

self-destruction, or, one might say, self annihilation.

Ha! Get it, it's like the name of the film!

Ha ha, ha . . .

Uh, anyway . . .

Cancer is your body destroying itself, addiction is

impulse destroying your body, and infidelity is impulse destroying your

relationships. The film was keenly interested in exploring every facet of

this idea, even using it to comment on the nature of humanity, our aversion

toward the unknown and change, and even the nature of alien life, whether or not

they would comprehend concepts such as destruction, if they would view it the

same way we do, and so much more. Like I said, it's hard to describe without

explicitly spoiling the film, but to say simply, It manages to touch on a wide

variety of subjects whilst exploring existential ideas in such a way that

keeps you on the edge of your seat, and leaves you to wonder about, well, life.

That being said, it does have its problems. The pacing often feels off,

bouncing from scenes that pass in the blink of an eye to ones that drag on

forever, especially in the first act. Many of the characters are just, there, with

only two of them ever really feeling like they have any kind of character.

Even Lena, though having a few scenes that show off a genuine personality, just

feels blank most of the time. The dialogue can be clunky, throwing out

random tidbits of actually unnecessary exposition, and lines that drag on for

a sentence or two too long. And, strangely enough for a sci-fi film, the

explanations for the Shimmer's phenomenons, at times, just seem

convoluted for the sake of being convoluted. But, while I can understand

how these problems may ruin some people's experience, for me these

weaknesses are vastly outweighed by the film's strengths. Despite its flaws, I

found Annihilation to be a captivating movie. It's one whose uncanny setting,

nightmarishly fantastical creatures, and haunting soundtrack and imagery build a

dense atmosphere of intrigue and mystery I couldn't pull away from, and whose

musings on the very nature of life itself lingered in my mind long after

the credits rolled. At the end of the day, Annihilation is a movie that, ironically,

gets more and more beautiful, the more you break it down. And for me, that's what

makes it, so fun to watch.

And yeah, those are my thoughts. Let me know what yous

think, if yous agree, disagree, what your favorite sci-fi movie is, if that bear

was the scariest fucking thing you've seen all year (it certainly was for me),

etc, and thanks for watching! If yous enjoyed this, and wanna see more,

check out my last video, where I break down Made In Abyss' infamous Lord of Dawn,

and what makes him such a great villain. Or check out my video on Violet Evergarden,

and why its slow pacing and emotional storytelling make it so fun to watch.

WHAT DOES EACH YEAR BRING OR TAKE? HEAR A BESTSELLER THROUGH HIS SON! - Duration: 3:40.

******Audience clapping******

Hello everyone

My name is Keseosa.

I will be reading the poem called "Year"

If you have the book, feel free to turn to page 57

"Lest it pass Let it pass

It's nature's clock It rules nature's flock

A time for a boon A time for the goon

Life it creates Life it crates

Hope it brings Hurt it springs

Everything changes The changes seem the same

Dreams evolve and dissolve into existence Expectations expand and explode into nonexistence

Its rubrics are a checkerboard Its debris are a springboard

It heralds another game of chance And another chance to play its game

Its gains drain its pains Its pains drain its gains

It ends to begin again It begins to end again

Year in Year out"

That's all

600 Videos YouTube Journey Since 2014 | Hard Work or Smart Work I Just Believe in Work | DPVLog 034 - Duration: 10:10.

So I've been asked this question a lot of times and people often enough asked me that

What kind of tools and software's or gears or phones or camera or?

Studio setup you use

What kind of apps you use for editing purpose and people give an excuse all right?

most of the times people give this excuse that they don't have fancy camera they don't have

Nice editing tools they don't have a charismatic personality

They don't have they're shy in front of camera all these excuses are the ones which

People give which is what is stopping them from doing or creating a content or documenting their journey?

I

Will confuse another episode and DP vlog made today

I'm gonna go through and I'm gonna actually take you to the complete journey of mine

I would say not the complete journey

I would say bits and pieces all right back in 2014 or late 2013

I actually started the so it's 2018 right now 24th of March

2018 and I am doing this episode

Where I'm gonna show you that. What exactly I used to have what exactly I used to wear

What exactly I used to do in front of camera?

Back in 2014 2013 and how those videos were you'll think that oh my god

These are trapped no background music no plan no script. Anyways. I don't have any script till date

I just randomly shoot this video

And and you will be surprised to see how I'm shooting this video because I'm going to show you this setup over here this is

The exactly set up, which you are actually seeing

right now in front of me which is like a

Small little tripod stand for which the link is there in the description below you can just get it on

Amazon and to disclose this that's going to be my affiliate link so in case if you purchase I would get a little bit of

Commission, that's it

I am very transparent so below you have the link for this tripod stand you have the link for the phone

Which I am using which is iPhone 7 plus right now, and as you can see over here?

Like I don't have any fancy studio set up. It's as plain and simple refrigerator on which I'm having this tripod

I've just come from gym

and I thought of doing this episode because I was just

Thinking of it while I was coming from gym or to my place. I was thinking of this that people

Like all the time people give this excuse that they don't have this

Because of which they are not able to do this

They don't have this because of which they are not starting this if that is the case you will never ever start them alright

So I'm going to take you through small little clips from back in 2014 where I used to do

Blogging for one of the company empower network. I used to do affiliate marketing for them. I started my journey through that and then I

Instantly started building my blog I started

Something on wordpress.com, which is free I used to record videos for the graticule every single day

I used to express my gratitude for something and then I used to have that blog episode

Posted on my channel, so those are like not this channel alright

Not the cell those were like plain and simple randomly. I picked up some name for the channel, and I was using those platforms

In a way, I was tasting YouTube

I was trying to figure out how it works and things like that so my point over

Here is just go through all those small little clips, and I hope that inspires you. I hope it motivates you

I hope you'll actually do something about that small little inspiration

Which you get from those video clips to start your journey right nobody is perfect people keep on learning from their mistakes

From their journey, so if you start documenting your process if you start documenting your journey if you actually

Just like like produce content alright produce content without worrying about what actually?

Your audience gonna think but at the same time think about how they we get value you don't have to go fancy

You just have to make sure having the right mindset is very very crucial guys

You just have to have the right mindset that people who are watching your video

they should be getting value out of it alright and

Second point is yes if you

Just try to edit it to your list because it's always learning things right try to edit it to your best and just upload

Right so, that's what my journey is back in 2014 till today

This is the episode which is not the 33rd episode 5 the 23rd or 30 food I suppose

I don't even remember the name like this would be like DP. Vlog 34 and

This is not the 34th video for me. I have shot like

500 to 600 on this particular Channel right now. I have around 450 videos

It's just that I have started naming them DP blog and so and so so that's the number

It's not the action video which I am actually documenting

Long that I am been doing that and I have a couple of channel which are suspended because I was doing something I was testing

And I got banned all right, so I have a couple of channels which are banned

I cannot show you that because I cannot access those channels

But whatever I have I can show it to you, so here. We go small little Clips. I hope you enjoy

It is my friend. That's up. Hope you are doing awesome, and you're feeling great and you are

achieving success in your life you

Getting what you want in your life 24th Chen 2014 a very special day for me

Fastest Way To Lose Respect As A Behavior Analyst or Leader - Duration: 6:52.

you know one of the big things and I asked Brett if he kinda wanted to mention

a couple of things serve as he talks frequently about moving from labor to

leadership one of the things that's going to happen now that your a Behavior

Consultant where you're moving in that direction is that you're going to be

doing more leadership you're going to be doing less in terms of working directly

with the learners and you're going to be doing more in terms of telling people

what to do and having difficult conversations with people and it can be

a shift and the way you're thinking and the way you're behaving have anybody the

tables seen a difference so far or in terms of wow I was working directly with

the learners and now I'm already noticing I'm having to have a different

type of conversation you want talk about that and then maybe give you guys the

tips Kristen well I'm actually still an RBT

at this school on that now so then I go to my cases Cinnaminson totally different

role yeah so I'm adjusting learning how to switch that from the labor to guiding

people going through that I'm learning how to shift that role so I'm usually like

always directly with the client it's a little different but I must have to

comment on that that um just when we talk about Labor to leadership there's

nothing more important than you staying sharp and modeling stuff for people

that's right so just because we use a fancy term like moving from Labor

leadership doesn't mean you don't just get down and dirty with a learner and

then showing a B C I mean that's far B T or C a or how to do it like just being

like hands-on because the amount that your hands on and

the people that that follow you them following your lead is directly

proportionate to the respect they have that you're willing to do it right right

so great point so that's a great point when we talk about later leadership we

just mean in addition to your labor that your yeah I'm hands-off now I got my

surgeon I'm never gonna work with another learner that's not what we mean

it just means you have more responsibility now Joe was frequently

working with learners I am we just we both came from schools today so it's

just more it's not it's an addition to so to a point I think I found that the

hardest challenge for me has been taking that step back and allowing the CAS to

do a lot of the work I probably in their model in it and I'll see something and I

just want to jump in but I got to know that it's time to let them expand and

get in there and do it themselves so coaching from the house side has been a

challenge for me to sit back yeah and but you know that if you don't sit back

you're just enabling someone to be dependent on you right whether it's the

learner or the staff like your success in training a teacher or clinical

associate is also directly proportionate to how much you systematically fade

doing it Wow aim them to do it and coaching them I think it's the hardest

part I think when you've just gotten a new position you're in that limbo stage

and it might be even more difficult if you were a clinical associate or

clinical coordinator on that case and you're now the behavior consultant it

might even be an additional challenge for you to

seemed like the leader but that probably is the most important thing is now I'm

in charge I forgot who emailed me I'm in you dev as part of their email saying

you know well now I'm in charge of all this whereas before I was a part of the

team now I'm in charge of the team and it's a little bit of a different way of

thinking so modeling things for your folks is important we'll talk about

mentorship in the next slide we recently had a leadership meeting here maybe

about a month ago then we talked about you know different levels of leadership

and one of the important things is still modeling things for folks not just

coming in as a leader and telling people what to do and then leaving that's a

quick way to have people lose respect for you you can't just say hey I was a

CA so now I'm gonna be seen and you know I don't do stuff anymore it's it's

almost as important to still be doing this sub so they know that you've got

their back that's where that trust is built so if you're having a difficult

time know this is you know the three of us are here to coach you through that

you might be indifferent you know you might be in different places in terms of

how to give feedback to people we'll talk about that in a few minutes that's

an area of struggle for you reach out to your mentor so it sounds like you have a

good mentor and all your mentor is so reach out to those folks but if you're

having a hard time giving people feedback or how do I grow from that

position of doing too or coaching please like we're here for

you just like in the interview where we we said we're responsible for your

success or a layoff same thing now if you're in a new role if you're not 100%

succeeding in every aspect and it is gonna be our fault right look it's kind

of nice to know you're not responsible for your behavior like like especially

in the early stages all you got to do is show up and show effort if there's

something that goes wrong just know that it's somehow just with the whole

philosophy behavioral philosophy that we have something we may not have set up

the rate contingency or coached you on it's on us now as time goes on that

slowly shifts to you being that way with other people but like like all of a

sudden you're accountable for someone's performance and you know more

accountable for your performance because when you have knowledge tools goals and

information like that now just power and then you know you're responsible for

that there's the success of the people that you're leading so what happens

people as long as someone shows up and tries really really hard and tries to

respond to feedback is really all we care about literally I think the

responsibility aspect of things is key like you're given a title in a rank

right within the organization now it changes because you are maybe a CC and

whatever the case is might just you know maybe were a CA and now you have that

title whether it's you know BC you have the certification but with that comes

the responsibility that there are more people in your care you know that you're

responsible for and the presence is more important then

that now than it ever was even when you're directly working because like I

think you know what Bretton pierre was saying as well as you know people are

gonna follow you if they feel like you're present and you understand what's

going on it's it's like parenting through a text like I've said this

before like I don't parent my kids through text

messages like I'm married to show and model and be being good father

Whenever the humanity was overwhelmed with religious imposters,

sins and atrocities,

God sent his messengers as Prophets , Divine Souls and Avatars

Today we have reached Gurdwara Mal Ji Sahib to learn a special incidence associated with a divine soul, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

This Gurdwara Sahib is located in the town of Shri Nankana Sahib.

When Guru Ji impressed upon his teachers at a very early age, the village folks started speculating about him

so father Bhai Kalu sent Guru Nanak to graze the cattle

When Guru Nanak used to visit this place to graze the cattle, he used to get absorbed in the beauty of nature and sing hyms praising the almighty

The chief of the village Rai Bular was aware of the divine in young Nanak and had great affection and held him in high esteem since childhood

A big cobra came at that place and provided shadow with its hood over the face of the Divine Master.

Rai Bular was going through that area with his attendants. When he saw this strange scene, he thought child nanak was stung by Cobra

But when he approached close, he found that child Nanak is singing hyms of the Almighty

Rai Bular got very pleased to observe the blessings of Almighty on Guru Nanak

Diwan Kaura Mal constructed this place in 1750

1820, Maharaja Ranjit singh added a Jagir and renovated the building

This Gurdwara was completely closed after 1947 due to lack of Sikh Population in the town

In 2015 , the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Committee, reopened this holy place upon the request of growing Sikh Sangat of Shri Nankana Sahib.

( US News ) Prison Or Deportation: The Impossible Choice For Asylum Seekers In Israel - Duration: 12:13.

Prison Or Deportation: The Impossible Choice For Asylum Seekers In Israel

Mya Guarnier/IRIN African asylum seekers sleep in a Tel Aviv park in 2012.

This article originally appeared on IRINnews.org, a news agency specialised in reporting humanitarian crises.

By Annie Slemrod, IRIN Middle East Editor.

Just two months from now, the Israeli government says it will begin indefinitely imprisoning asylum seekers who refuse deportation.

IRIN Middle East Editor Annie Slemrod explores what this means for the tens of thousands of people now facing an uncertain future.

After escaping torture in Sudan, after walking 11 hours through the Egyptian desert, and after handing almost all his money to men with guns who blocked his way, Adam slipped through an opening in a border fence and laid down on the sand.

The respite didn't last long.

The 24-year-old told every Israeli official he met – first soldiers, then officials at a detention centre – that he was seeking safe haven.

It didn't go down well, as Adam recounts calmly from his Tel Aviv kitchen table.

"I told them, 'I'm a refugee.' They said, 'We don't have a place for refugees here.'" "I asked for the UN… They said, 'here in Israel we don't have the UN.'" "I said, 'so let me go back.' They said, 'no.'" Little did he know it would go so badly that four years later he would be labelled an infiltrator and that, as an unmarried, childless male with no official refugee status, he would be high on the list for deportation.

Adam, who told IRIN he was tortured in prison in Sudan for refusing to fight in the military, has fallen foul of a new Israeli government plan to rid the country of the 38,000 African asylum seekers inside its borders.

A new policy The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Tel Aviv has been overrun by "illegal infiltrators" who, it maintains, are largely responsible for driving up poverty and crime in working class southern parts of the city.

Starting the first of April, the government says it will give the asylum seekers – more than 90 percent are from Sudan and Eritrea – the choice between prison and "voluntary" deportation.

Those who agree to leave will be given $3,500 (this sum will decrease after 1 April) and reportedly then be sent to Rwanda or Uganda, although both governments have denied entering into agreements with Israel.

Asylum seekers began making the trek to Israel in the mid-2000s.

Between then and 2014, when the country fortified its border with Egypt, Israel's policy towards new arrivals has changed often.

It gave them visas – renewable every few months – that read, "this permit is not a work permit," but opted not to fine employers who hire them.

It sent men to indefinite detention in a series of centres, until the high court limited this to a year in 2015.

It has also paid asylum seekers to leave the country – reportedly via secret deals with Rwanda and Uganda (believed to be the destinations in this latest push).

Forced deportations haven't been officially announced, but at least one of Netanyahu's ministers has said they're on the table.

When he announced the new policy at a January cabinet meeting, Netanyahu spoke of the "plight of the long-time residents" and said his new deportation plan was aimed at, "restoring quiet – the sense of personal security and law and order – to the residents of south Tel Aviv, and also those of many other neighbourhoods." Welcome to the medina South Tel Aviv has become a hive of controversy – and a useful rhetorical tool for politicians – because the government and some locals (but not all) blame poverty and deteriorating conditions on the influx of African asylum seekers, even though one official report suggests state neglect was largely to blame.

Most did not choose this city anyway.

With a dark sense of humour, and a bit of profanity, Adam explains what his one-way ticket to the Central Bus Station in the south of Tel Aviv was like.

After being apprehended at the border – an incident that involved running from a searchlight, losing his shoes, and an act of kindness when a soldier gave him his own boots – Adam was told he couldn't claim status as a refugee but could stay in Israel and work a while, in what officials kept calling the "medina," city in Arabic.

He didn't speak much of that language, but after weeks in detention he heard his name called a few times: "Adam-medina," "Adam-medina." Loaded onto a bus with other African asylum seekers, he eventually figured out what medina meant and that he was going to a city that turned out to be Tel Aviv.

Unlike some of his fellow passengers, he already feared his prospects were bleak.

"We didn't speak Hebrew; we didn't have any experience," he remembers.

"People were so happy getting on the bus." "I said to them, 'Why are you happy? This medina is going to be messed up [in more colourful language].

It's not going to be easy.'" Adam took one look at Tel Aviv, saw men sleeping rough in a park, and got on the first bus out of there.

But eventually he came back and found work as an electrician.

Over time, many asylum seekers found jobs and places to stay near the bus station in south Tel Aviv.

Nowadays, shop signs in Tigriniya (the language spoken in Eritrea and northern Ethiopia] compete for space in the area alongside those in Hebrew; barbershop and salons have sprung up to cater to a black clientele; coffee shops display posters of Eritrean musicians.

Teklit Michael, a 29-year-old Eritrean activist (and middle-distance runner) who fled his country in 2007, says he came to Israel "to be safe from detention, torture, imprisonment," but never truly felt at home.

He recounts episodes of discrimination: "When you get on the bus and no one wants to sit next to you… when you cook at a restaurant and people say, 'I don't want to… eat what he made.'"  Refugee status As Adam learnt upon arrival in 2013, the UN's refugee agency, UNHCR, doesn't process asylum claims in Israel.

The government has handled refugee status determination since 2009, and until 2013 it was almost impossible for Eritreans and Sudanese to even submit applications.

When applying for refugee status did become an option, it was still extremely difficult and bureaucratic.

"I thought, if you can apply you can at least prove that you tried," said Anwar Suliman, a Sudanese asylum seeker who IRIN profiled in this 2017 film and interviewed again for this feature.

He, like Teklit and many others, is still waiting for an answer.

Adam never filled out the refugee status determination form – what everyone calls the RSD.

Why? "They told me in the beginning they had no place for me." Plus, he says he knew a lot of people who filled out the form and it amounted to nothing.

The statistics bear this out – as of mid-2017, more than 12,200 people had filed asylum claims; more than 7,400 had received no reply.

Only 10 Eritreans and one Sudanese – 11 people total – have been granted refugee status since 2009, even though Israel is a signatory to the refugee convention.

One more Eritrean man is said to have been granted status this week, although IRIN could not independently confirm the report.

Fighting back Despite utter mistrust in the system and frustration over the miniscule recognition rate, those RSDs have suddenly begun to feel like some sort of protection.

That's because it is childless men who never applied or were rejected who Israel says it will send away first, although later phases of the policy could see others deported.

IRIN visited Anwar at his home near another central bus station, but not in Tel Aviv – after detention in a desert centre called Holot he was told not to return to the city.

He has been the face – and name – of lawsuits; he has encouraged his fellow activists to speak out; and he has learned Hebrew and English.

Now, he says, "we've struggled enough.
