Youtube daily so Mar 3 2018

(Smacks hands together, trying to destroy a flying insect)

(To a watching spider on the ceiling): Do your job, spider!

OK!

Welcome to.... ahhhhnother episode of unboxing presents that I'm not quite sure what do with

afterwards.

This is a very fancy, um, tea set, apparently, from the Menghai Tea Factory in Yunnan.

And I got this, ahh, as a New Year's present.

Um, which is awesome.

But, as you're about to see - let's unbox this.

Bit of wood.

(Refering to camera position): Let's move that down a little bit.

Groin shot.

Tea pot.

Thumbnail.

Meargh.

(A poem)

Filter for the - filter.

Filter.

(British accent) Filter for the tea!

Cup a tea, love?

Ohhh...

#SEXYTIMES That's just a shot of my ... humps.

My humps, my humps, my humps.

Ohhh... fancy!

Look at that!

(Hits boxes on floor.)

Oops!

Hope I didn't break anything.

Alright.

Think this goes first.

Some sort of rack.

(Tweezers) For, um, eyebrows, I'm guessing.

And there's this (squeezes many times) pump thing.

And ... now what?

Think what I need to do is just take a little photo... go on to Chinese social media,

WeChat.

Alright, it's been two minutes and nobody's responded yet!

So I'm just going to push on with how I think it works.

Ummmhhh.

Alright.

I think this ah, hashtag sexytimes pump...

There is a tray here, let's just move that... for collecting um - you're going to see in

a minute.

And because there's this drain hole here, I can only imagine that this attaches on to

that.

Um... does it?

Pah.

Where else would it go?

Yep.

Attaches on to that.

And then, um, and then I'm not too sure actually.

Pshhhaa.

But this is the purpose of this video.

I'm having a go.

I'm, I'm doing this and then I'm hoping that someone out there, um, ideally who is Chinese,

maybe, or is well, well um - not well - just knows #DISTRACTED.

BANGING OF DOOR.

IS IT A BURGLAR??

Why is that?

Is there a window open??

IS HE COMING BACK?

SLAM.

IS HE DEADS?

FOOTSTEPS.

DOOR.

Sorry about that!

The ah, the wind's blowing all the doors open and um, interupts me.

Pssshh.

Right so the purpose of this is for me to have a go and hopefully someone who is ah

more educated can correct me and just explain certain things.

Or if some of my pengyou ah come back, then I'll fill in those gaps.

But I want to use this, it's a lovely gift, apparently this is all very expensive, so...

gotta make a video and show off on YouTube.

OK, ah guess we start with some hot water.

And...

I'm going to use what I know about drinking chinese tea.

Umm... you get sort of three... three batches of it normally, um... batches?

Three run throughs, um, so you would... and I'm guessing this is for getting the tea out.

I think that normally there would be like a tea cake or something that goes in here

maybe?

Maybe that's for breaking it up or whatever, but, um, and I guess you'd fill that up a

lot more.

I don't like cha that strong.

Something just fell through.

Um... so ... the first drink of the tea would be quite bitter, the next bit because it's

sort of flushed through is good and the third bit's getting a bit weak.

It's always in threes.

A vlog friend of mine, Vafa Anderson, was living in China and, um he exited out via

the Tibetian area, almost losing a drone in the process.

And in one of his beautiful vlogs he had this - maybe that's too much?

-- um, this bit of a tea ceremony and basically they would pour out the first lot [cut to

VA video, Chinese/English] -

gosh, I really did put too much in.

Um...#TRYNOTTOPEE CHALLENGE ... I don't know if this is an offering ritual - ohh, it's

coming through here now!

If this leaks out, I'm going to be in so much trouble with my wife.

Um... whether it's an offering to whatever.

Awww gawd, actually... look at that.

I've done this wrong.

Whoops, it's on the carpet.

Nervous laughter.

Anyway.

I think there's a practical use in that it it just gets - if you're really a tea conisour

it gets rid of that first layer of bitterness.

Ah man!

Precious pup laugh.

I've got no idea what I'm doing.

Is that meant to drain into something else??

Right, and then put that back in [Playing draughts]

Ahhh, add some more water.

I have, I did YouTube or Google search um the tea factory to try and get and idea, but

all I could find on YouTube was basically non-Chinese people doing it and it didn't

really explain some of the questions I had.

Like, even am I doing this right?

OK, so that's full now so it can sort of steep, I guess.

This is actually a Turkish tea glass, got in Turkishland a long time ago.

Been drinking some strong Chinese spirits out of that to um help - for medishinal purposes

lately.

OK, so let's give that a couple of minutes.

Um, this is the thing I'm really not sure about.

Um, is it a rack for a lot of little tea cups.

To me when I look at it, it makes me think of tequilla shots and it's where the wedge

of lemon goes.

Um, cos as you can see, my...

[Playing draughts] ... that's just a disaster waiting to happen, that's more of a disaster

than filling up a thing with hot water that's flowing onto your carpet.

And your wife's going to growl at you.

But she'll never find out.

Wait - [remembers camera].

She doesn't watch my channel anyway.

Or read the closed captions.

OK!

So.

Let's take that out.

It's perhaps a bit weaker but as I say, I don't like it too strong.

Slurpahhh.

Well.

There you go: fancy tea set.

Um... feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

[Precious pup laugh].

I like it, I like this table thing.

I do have a bit of green tea.

I've got quite a bit of it at work, um, friends - this is a common gift I guess when they

go back to China or whatever.

Probably should drink more of it.

So that I don't have quite so much of it in storage.

Alrighty!

He ba!

Slurp, um, yeah.

It's nice, a bit of [insert correct word here: ritual?] ceremony to it, a bit of celebrating the tea,

um, taking some time out, ah, yeah, I can make use of this.

Zai Jian!

Oh!

Someone's come back!

Oh wait, they just - they just liked my post, they [precious pup laugh] Tell me what I'm

doing!

Ha.Ha.Ha.

The Science Behind Why People Are So Easily Fooled -- Discernment Essentials - Duration: 9:41.

The Science Behind Why People Are So Easily Fooled -- Discernment Essentials

The world has changed tremendously from the time of our ancestors.

Today, we develop most of our beliefs based on external forces, with very little first-hand

experience.

Where the early humans relied on direct sensory experience to shape their beliefs, we now

rely on language and our own ability to discern falsehoods from truth.

by Anna Hunt

With language, we undoubtedly receive a plethora of opinions and bias based on the orators

own belief system.

Yet, we are willing to believe much, without taking the time to investigate new ideas or

seeking to experience them first-hand.

What is the reason for this eager credulity and can we control it?

Societys Intrusion of the Gullible Brain

The 17th century philosopher Rene Descartes formalized the idea that, if one wishes

to know the truth, then one should not believe an assertion until one finds evidence to justify

doing so.

This sounds like a reasonable approach to integrating new beliefs.

Most of us think ourselves capable of evaluating ideas and making up our own mind.

Yet, think about it.

When was the last time that you actually took the time to seek out new evidence to help

you prove or disprove new ideas?

Im not just talking about some random fact you saw on a news website.

Im talking about ideas that you receive from everywhere.

All of your media outlets, social networks and personal interactions.

Truthfully, theres so much information coming at us all the time, who has time to

fact check and research all of it?

Furthermore, how many beliefs has society embedded into our brains from early childhood?

That is mostly what we believe as fact, even though we never really took the time to reflect

on those ideas.

It is during the formative years of our lives that we establish associations and strong

beliefs about key aspects of life.

We form our religious beliefs and associations.

We establish a foundation of our political views and civil roles.

Even more importantly, we adapt to perpetuated ideas of authority and conformity.

Finally, we buy into societys view of what it means to be a human.

All of this happens without any first-hand investigation if any of these societal norms

and beliefs are truth.

Yet, for most, these programmed beliefs are the first resource for fact-checking and assessing

new ideas and assertions.

Skepticism is Quite Rare, Especially When Were Distracted

Another philosopher, Benedict Spinoza questioned Descartes idea.

Spinoza realized that the brain does not process ideas the way that Descartes proposed.

He suggested that, people believe every assertion they understand but quickly unbelieve

those assertions that are found to be at odds with other established facts.

Confirming this theory, new research has shown that our brains are actually naturally willing

to believe whatever we feed them.

Researchers Daniel T. Gilbert et al. from The University of Texas at Austin conducted

an experiment where they presented a set of true and false statements about a crime to

study subjects.

The researchers asked one group of participants to read the statements and concurrently find

and count the digit 5 as it appeared in the text.

The other group was allowed to read the statements uninterrupted.

Afterwards, the researchers asked the participants to recollect which statements were false,

and which were true.

They also requested that the subjects decide on the jail time for the perpetrator of the

crime.

The study outcome showed that the group that was also counting recalled more false assertions

as true, but not the other way around.

They also gave the fictitious perpetrator more jail time.

Thus, Gilbert et al. showed that people are more likely to believe that false assertions

are true, especially when they are interrupted.

Therefore, this reinforces Spinozas theory that people are quick to believe an idea.

Yet, the findings introduce the argument that interruption prevents us from unbelieving

new assertions.

Thus, are we really capable of the skepticism that the modern world requires?

The implication of these findings is that the world is distracting.

It is fast-moving, flashy, loud and over-whelming.

We are connected to peoples lives well outside of our home and community, ingesting

massive amounts of information.

Never mind the incessant attempts of advertisers to snag your attention and constant beckoning

of your smartphone.

How can we expect our brain to take an uninterrupted assessment of new ideas?

It Takes Cognitive Work to Disbelieve

Spinoza and Gilbert et al. suggest that belief is first, easy, and inexorable and that doubt

is retroactive, difficult, and only occasionally successful.

Gilbert et al write: Acceptance, then, may be a passive and inevitable

act, whereas rejection may be an active operation that undoes the initial passive acceptance.

The most basic prediction of this model is that when some event prevents a person from

undoing his or her initial acceptance, then he or she should continue to believe

the assertion, even when it is patently false.

For example, if a person is told that lead pencils are a health hazard, he or she must

immediately believe that assertion and only then may take active measures to unbelieve

it.

These active measures require cognitive work (i.e., the search for or generation of contravening

evidence), and if some event impairs the persons ability to perform such work, then the person

should continue to believe in the danger of lead pencils until such time as the cognitive

work can be done.

Therefore, much removed from Descartes theory, Gilbert et al. propose that each event and

encounter in your life alters your brain.

At times, this change is permanent, unless you have the time and cognitive ability to

reflect on the encounter and, then, decide if you want to disbelieve the ideas it introduced.

This is why advertising is so effective.

Marketers introduce ideas (beliefs) about their products in passing.

Typically, youre already distracted with whatever it is that youre doing (driving,

watching a show, reading a news piece, etc).

Some might argue that advertisers are creating beliefs in your brain without your permission.

The same can be applied to politics, public schools, and news media.

Are all of these entities imposing changes in your belief system against your will?

Is the brain really that gullible?

Related An Example of Holistic Discernment and the Fruit of Critical Thought | Commentary

on Kent Dunn Updates by David Nova

Some would say yes, but lets go back to Descartes idea that one can seek out evidence

so s/he can decide to disbelieve an assertion.

Gilbert et al write: People, then, do have the potential for resisting

false ideas, but this potential can only be realized when the person has (a) logical ability,

(b) correct information, and (c) motivation and cognitive resources.

What Im getting at here is that we must have the cognitive ability, as well as true

information, to help us disbelieve false assertions.

Unfortunately, these skills are mostly the function of our education system, as well

as organized groups and religious sects.

Therefore, society partially controls our ability to distinguish truth from falsehoods.

We are told to believe that the information fed to us in schools and churches is truth.

But how do we know for sure?

And is the system of education teaching children how to think, or just what to think?

Final Thoughts

Many are concerned that societys influence has stifled our ability discern falsehoods.

That the hive-mind has infected the masses, disparaging skepticism of mainstream beliefs.

Yet, we must not forget our own personal power.

Regardless of how gullible the brain really is, we hold the power over our thoughts.

This control stems from our willingness (motivation) to reflect on and contemplate ideas.

Our cognitive resources are not bound by our GPA or IQ score.

We can expend these abilities through self-education and the rational exchange of ideas with others.

Solitude, meditation, reflection, mentorships, first-hand experience this is all within

our reach.

We have access to an endless pool of knowledge.

All we need to do is decide.

Do we want to ingest only what mainstream society throws at us, or are we willing to

seek out our own truth?

Qatar Wouldn't Buy Kushner's Building, So He Had Them Blockaded. Allegedly. - Duration: 8:58.

JARED KUSHNER'S BIG WEEK OF SCANDALS IS QUITE OVER, WE HAVE

FRIDAY AND WE HAVE MAYBE ONE OF THE WORST PARTS, ACTUALLY.

IT'S

A TWO-PART SCANDAL, SO BUCKLE UP JARED.

EARLIER THIS WEEK WE

TALKED ABOUT THE NEARLY HALF BILLION DOLLARS OF LOANS THAT

JARED SECURED FOR HIS CORPORATION AFTER A SERIES OF

MEETINGS WITH BILLIONAIRES INSIDE OF THE WHITE HOUSE.

THAT

SHOULD BE ENOUGH, BUT IT'S NOT, IT'S WORSE THAN THAT, ONE OF

THOSE LOANS IS LOOKING EVEN MORE SUSPICIOUS NOW WITH NEW

INFORMATION.

SO JUST TO REMIND YOU ABOUT THE ONE WE ARE GOING

TO TALK ABOUT HERE --

NOW, WHAT'S INTERESTING IS SOME OF THE OTHER STUFF THAT WAS

GOING ON AROUND THAT TIME --

SO UNDER OBAMA THE SEC HAD STARTED INVESTIGATING THIS

COMPANY, THEY MEET WITH JARED KUSHNER, THEY GIVE HIM A LOAN,

AND SUDDENLY THEY AREN'T INTERESTED INVESTIGATING WHAT

APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT HAD BEEN UP TO.

THAT SEEMS AS QUID

PRO QUO AS YOU CAN HAVE.

IT WAS ALREADY TERRIBLE WITH THE QUID PRO QUO OF WE WILL MEET

WITH YOU AND THEN MAYBE GIVE YOU A LOAN, BUT THEN THE SEC DROPS

IT.

THE HEAD OF THE SEC IS A FORMER WALL STREET LAWYER

REPRESENTING GOLDMAN SACHS IN THE BAILOUT, I THINK ELIZABETH

WARREN DURING HIS CONFIRMATION HEARING SAID YOU ARE LITERALLY

THE WORST PERSON WHO COULD EVER HEAD THE SEC, OR SOMETHING ALONG

THOSE LINES, BUT HE'S NOT GOING TO BE SOMEONE WHO IS CRACKING

THE WHIP ON APOLLO OR ANY MAJOR COMPANY DOING SHADY THINGS

BEHIND THE SCENES.

OF COURSE THE KUSHNER FAMILY SAYS HE WAS MEETING WITH THE

APOLLO GUYS?

COLOR US SURPRISED.

THEY SAY HE'S NOT TECHNICALLY

WITH THE COMPANY ANYMORE.

I MEAN ALL OF OUR FAMILY MONEY IS TIED

INTO THE COMPANY BUT HE'S NOT TECHNICALLY WITH THE COMPANY

ANYMORE.

AND THE SEC SAYS OH, HE WAS MEETING WITH APOLLO RIGHT

BEFORE WE DROPPED THE CASE AGAINST HIM?

WELL, COLOR

SURPRISED AS WELL.

WHAT A WONDERFUL I MEAN UNFORTUNATE

COINCIDENCE.

THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COINCIDENCES ABOUT JARED KUSHNER

LATELY.

IT'S POSSIBLE IT'S THE COINCIDENTAL OUTCOME OF A LOT OF

INVESTIGATIONS AT THE SAME TIME, BUT IT'S NOT COMING FROM

NOWHERE, SOMEONE IS RELEASING IT.

EACH COMPONENT OF THE JARED

KUSHNER STORY, WE SEE THIS ALL THE TIME, WE SHOULD JUST PUT IT

ON THE SOUND BANK, IF IT HAPPENED UNDER OBAMA IT WOULD BE

THE BIGGEST SCANDAL FOR BOTH OF HIS TERMS.

BUT HERE IT'S

ENTIRELY POSSIBLE JARED JUST SKATES.

I DON'T KNOW THAT THAT'S

GOING TO HAPPEN, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL HAD AN EDITORIAL CALLING

FOR JARED AND IVANKA TO STEP DOWN, WE KNOW KELLY IS

ESCALATING HIS FEUD AGAINST THEM, BUT ALL OF THESE SCANDALS

ONE AFTER ANOTHER -- I'M GOING TO THROW ONE MORE ON.

YOU MIGHT

LOOK AT THIS PICTURE OF JARED LOOKING ALL SAD AND THINK I

DON'T REALLY CARE IF I CROSS THAT GUY, BUT YOU MIGHT WANT TO

BECAUSE LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T GO ALONG WITH

HIS DEAL --

AND THAT PROPERTY IS, YOU

KNOW, HAS 30% UNOCCUPANCY, AND A

$1.2 BILLION MORTGAGE.

IT'S THEIR MOST DISTRESSED INVESTMENT, THEY ARE TRYING TO

MAKE ALL KINDS OF DEALS.

TWO POINTS, FIRST TO JOHN'S POINT,

COULD KUSHNER SKATE ON THIS?

YEAH.

WE'VE SEEN DONALD TRUMP

SORT OF CIRCLE THE WAGONS ON PEOPLE CLOSEST TO HIM, AND

KUSHNER WOULD BE ONE OF THEM.

ALTHOUGH THIS APPEARS TO BE --

HE'S A TRAIN WRECK OF CONFLICT, JARED KUSHNER, AND THIS IS PAY

TO PLAY.

YOU DON'T NEED TO CONNECT MANY DOUBTS AT ALL TO

SEE THE CONFLICT HERE, AND HE JUST IS A CONFLICTED MEMBER OF

THIS ADMINISTRATION.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE CONFLICTS OF

INTEREST FLOATING OUT THERE, BECAUSE AT A BARE MINIMUM IT

GIVES THE APPEARANCE OF CORRUPTION.

I THINK IT'S MORE

THAN AN APPEARANCE, BUT NO ONE CAN ARGUE THAT THERE ISN'T AN

APPEARANCE OF CORRUPTION.

BECAUSE LOOK, CITIGROUP WANTS

TWO THINGS, THERE WERE TWO COMPANIES GIVING LOANS TO

KUSHNER GROUPS, CITIGROUP WANTED LOWER TAXES AND THE REGULATION

OF THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY, THAT'S WHAT KUSHNER PUSHED FOR.

WHAT DID APOLLO WANT?

ALSO LOWER TAXES, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY

WANTED A SPECIAL LOOPHOLE FOR PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANIES TO BE

MAINTAINED.

TRUMP HAD SAID HE WAS NOT GOING TO KEEP THAT

LOOPHOLE, SO THAT IS NOT A STANDARD POSITION THAT THE TRUMP

ADMINISTRATION HAD.

SOMEHOW THEY CHANGED THAT POSITION.

OKAY, KUSHNER HAS MET MANY TIMES WITH THE FOUNDER OF APOLLO, AND

IN THE APOLLO GROUP SAYS THE LOAN WE GAVE THEM WENT THROUGH

STANDARD PROCESS, THE FOUNDER WAS UNAWARE OF IT.

THE FOUNDER

WAS NOT AWARE OF A $158 MILLION LOAN AS HE MET WITH KUSHNER OVER

AND OVER AGAIN?

SO THEY GOT THERE LOOPHOLE, AND ON TOP OF

THAT THEY HAD AN SEC INVESTIGATION DROPPED SHORTLY

AFTER THE MEETING.

COME ON.

IF THAT ISN'T THE APPEARANCE OF

CORRUPTION, YOU ARE TRYING NOT TO SEE IT.

LOOKS, PROGRESSIVES

AND INDEPENDENTS GET IT, WE DON'T HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THAT

ANYMORE, BUT EVEN IF YOU ARE TRUMP VOTER, ISN'T THIS THE

EXACT SWAMP YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT?

YOU KNOW IT IS.

THE PROBLEM IS IF YOU ARE TRUMP VOTER YOU ARE UNLIKELY TO

HAVE HEARD ABOUT THIS.

I CAN'T SAY FOX NEWS HASN'T COVERED

JARED KUSHNER'S SCANDALS THIS WEEK, THEY HAVE.

FOR 22 SECONDS.

AGAIN, THIS WOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO A

SCREECHING HALT IF ONE OF HIS PEOPLE HAD DONE THIS.

IT WOULD HAVE BROUGHT ANY ADMINISTRATION TO A SCREECHING

HALT.

AND TO CENK'S POINT ON THE SIZE OF THAT LOAN, THIS IS THREE

TIMES AS BIG A LOAN AS THEY NORMALLY ISSUE.

THIS WOULD GET

THE ATTENTION OF EVERYBODY AT THE TOP OF THIS CORPORATION.

IT SEEMS NAKEDLY CLEAR THAT JARED KUSHNER IS USING THIS

OFFICE FOR HIS OWN BENEFIT.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOME SORT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS INTO

IVANKA TRUMP, BECAUSE SHE HAS MARRIED HER FATHER.

SHE HAS

MARRIED A MAN WHO CONSISTENTLY FAILS AND DOES NOT DO GOOD

BUSINESS DEALS, WORKS IN REAL ESTATE, AND ALWAYS GOES AROUND

WHAT IS LEGAL, WHAT IS RIGHT TO DO -- I MEAN, IN THE TRANSITION

HE WAS LOBBYING PEOPLE IN RUSSIA TO ESSENTIALLY VETO OR STALL THE

VOTE ON THE UNITED NATIONS CONDEMNING THE SETTLEMENTS IN

ISRAEL.

HE WAS ALREADY GETTING STARTED IN THE TRANSITION GOING

AFTER THAT.

SO FROM START TO FINISH HIS TENURE IN THE WHITE

HOUSE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY CORRUPT, MUCH LIKE HIS

FATHER-IN-LAW.

LAST QUICK POINT ABOUT THAT, YOU POINT OUT THE RELATIONSHIP

AND PARALLEL BETWEEN THOSE TWO, THERE IS SOMETHING IS GOING ON

IN THIS ADMINISTRATION AND YOU SEE IT PLAYED OUT WITH THE JARED

THING AND THE TRUMP THING OF COURSE, THESE ARE VERY RICH

PEOPLE WHO AREN'T USED TO HAVING TO PLAY BY THE RULES OF THE REST

OF US PLAY BY.

THAT'S THE WAY THIS SOCIETY IS SET UP, WHICH

PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO PLAY BY THOSE RULES, WE KIND OF KNOW

THAT, BUT TO SEE IT PLAY OUT IN SUCH A HIGH WIRE ACT WAY AS WITH

THIS ADMINISTRATION IS SCARY BECAUSE THE REPERCUSSIONS ARE

MASSIVE FOR ALL OF US NOW.

IT'S NOT JUST SOME CONTRACTOR HE IS

DIFFERENT, THESE ARE RULES THEY ARE NOT PLAYING BY THE AFFECT

ALL OF US AS AMERICANS.

THE VITAMIX: WHY SO SPECIAL? w/ Michelle of Vitamix Culinary Exploration Center - Duration: 16:00.

Hey everyone! Lenny Gale, Life is NOYOKE.

This is a conversation I had with

Michelle from the Vitamix culinary exploration Center in Solon Ohio

at the end of this video hopefully we'll be able to answer the question

"What is so special about the Vitamix?"

Hi guys! You know who I am. Just kidding.

Hey, Lenny Gale, Life is NOYOKE.

We're in the Vitamix retail store in Solon, Ohio.

and I'm with Michelle and I want to have a quick conversation with

her because we kind of have a similar job and I'm curious how you help people

get to the edge taking the plunge holding the trigger getting a Vitamix

and in the demonstrations that she does in the shows and in the events that she

holds what do you say when people say things like oh okay I can do all these

things in a blender great I'm gonna go get a nutribullet what I like to point

out is that it's really more than just a blender yeah and for me personally I

don't use my food processor nearly as much did I get rid of it no because it

doesn't the Vitamix doesn't shred shred so it's like when you want that texture

you still need to have that food processor but I honestly have taken out

maybe twice in the last year because I can do everything on the Vitamix it

cleans up so much easier so I don't have like six different parts in my

dishwasher yeah and taking up the whole thing when people will come in here me

like oh is this gonna make me eat healthy and I'm like well not

necessarily because you can make some really delicious decadent delights in

your Vitamix but what it does is it makes it easier to make that healthier

choice yes so you're more likely to do it more on yes and when it's because

when it's easy to do something and you're gonna get the result that you're

looking for yes that's when it pays off for you health wise yes it yes it's easy

and you get the results and we say that it lives on your counter so it's a

constant reminder of this of this commitment that you've made to yourself

to live a certain lifestyle and to make some changes and to do some things for

you and for your family absolutely and I always tell people too that it's nice to

I've been in retail my entire career and it's nice to actually sell a product

that really does what they say it does yeah and I mean I've seen the

competitive blends with Vitamix against like five other brands of blenders and

they do the mix very smooth and they pour it through the sieve yeah and you

can see how it cuts through so when people come in here and they have a

competitor's blender and they're like well I really like the way this one

works I'm like worried it's gonna do everything you're doing now but it's

gonna do it better yeah and you're gonna be able to do more yeah and that's

really I mean our class that we do here the basics culinary class an hour and 45

minutes yeah well we show you everything you can do anyone yes and I mean I've we

spent ten minutes talking about different chopping techniques right

because that's something I don't you join the food the Cuisinart anymore

because create all you know people are nuts for cauliflower rice it looks like

10 seconds that's right that's right so I mean there's just all these kind of

fun things that you can do that you don't think of the blenders until you

use but if you have a Vitamix it'll become the tool you grab yeah you

mentioned the the nutribullet and you mentioned the blend offs comparing the

results of different machines and that for people that do have a nutribullet

for example that they actually should be happy because the results you get from

that oh watch better than a ninja yeah drop that was it was it was interesting

I think people see it conceptualize it as the other way around right but you

know if you have a neutral it's like oh great you're actually you know you're in

good shape the only problem is it lasts with with regular use the last few

months yeah and that's and that's great we always say it's a it's a it's a foot

in the door it's a way to get started yeah it's a way to make the lifestyle

changes you're upping tomato and the thing is is how many people are here

come in here and they're on their third or their fourth one and they're like

gosh I could have paid for a vitamin sure you know right now now that we have

the payment plans on the website it makes it very affordable yeah that's

what I would like people think about if this is something you're gonna do all

the time you want that tool yeah that's built to handle that kind of you know

you know abuse on a daily basis and it's gonna perform we say they last you know

people there's that saying that they last a lifetime and people always say Oh

does that mean there's a lifetime guarantee we're like no but with proper

use it's gonna last you twenty thirty years people bring them in all the time

to trade them in yeah and they're like handing it to me like here you go

but it's not broken right here you go oh but it's still blinds you know with me

give this to my sister right I mean they're afraid they don't want to part

with it yes you know we get a lot of people that reach out to us and say

we've had our machine for 15 20 25 years I heard a stat that I think something

less than 1/2 of 1% of these machines get sent in for service

right like you get the warranty and it's nice to have 5 7 10 years

well what we find out here in the store because you can always drop off your

repairs here so we see a lot come through but what we find out is 9 out of

10 times it's brand-new users that are have the wrong technique ok so that

they're like great example as I tell everyone when you're using your tamper

don't put your other hand on the handle because you don't even realize that

you're oh so slightly putting pressure especially when you're new and you're

just learning yeah you use the tamper and you can rock it and it can cause

weight on the drive shaft got it when we get that repair coming in and you can

feel the vers on this yes Drive chef and I'm like where do you put your other

hand when you're put on top yeah they're almost always grabbing handle either on

top or resting at the base yeah I think that's good for eye hand coordination

because it gives you your no you're less likely to rock with the hand that's

holding the tamper that makes sense but definitely don't put on the handle so

it's like little things like that is what we tend to see it coming in for and

it's covered by a warranty surety I think inevitably you have people who've

had them for two three or four days and they're like alright this thing can

handle anything I'm gonna put in a brick of frozen fruit and ice no water no

water yeah no water and then they say well I think my German I think it's

broken I think I got a defective one like well

did you add any liquid what you're doing like come on the single this thing can

make the best drinks and all the things but like you got absolutely you got a

load of properly yes um I tell people I go there is a learning curve yeah you're

not gonna be perfect the first time out I tell people to check the recipes on

the website even if you're doing your own thing because they're gonna give you

a sense of proportion yeah and all smoothies are gonna be a liquid

- frozen ratio yeah so if you're all frozen you're gonna want to up your

liquid content if you're got tons of French fresh fruit that are going to

liquefy quickly and create yeah then you might want to add some ice

to it yeah to thicken it up so there is a learning curve sure that's important

for people to them oh it's a blender but like it's more than wonder it's a

Vitamix and you gotta figure out how to use it yeah well you guys do some great

technique video thank you very technically doesn't mix that Condors and

if you're in Solon yeah you can come and take a class with that come visit

Michelle it's really fun a really cool here there was one other thing I wanted

to say is I think people feel like they need to deserve a Vitamix or rather they

don't feel like they deserve it I'm not living this lifestyle or I'm I don't

have a good enough job or I don't I'm not one who can or should have a Vitamix

but if it's something that you're considering you should it's almost like

a fear of failure that if I make this big investment will it be worth it will

I have I fulfilled the excitation to have of myself with this machine if you

do that it breaks my heart to hear somebody to tell me that they bought it

yeah and then they haven't taken it down the Box yeah kinda lady come in here and

she's like she was thinking about you know returning it because she just

hadn't taken it out of the box and you're kind of like you treated yourself

to this awesome yeah clients and why are you not using

it what's holding you back yeah and so I do see what you mood that there's a fear

of usin we got her in here for a basics class and she is on fire yeah she brings

us stuff that she's making on her Vitamix now she's like so excited about

it right but I tell people I go it it comes with that 30-day when you buy from

buddy makes you get 30-day money-back guarantee

use it use it every single day and then decide because I think by the end of

that window you're gonna be successful in so many things that you'll you will

use it and that's that whole idea of making yourself first and treating

yourself and being able to do the healthy thing

you need to and with the new Explorer you coming out boy there's a price point

for everybody yeah yeah it's a really good fit and for people that want the

little profile of a narrow container and a new machine that's a really good price

point that's that's a great fit for sure it's it's easier than it ever has been

and I tell everyone at the store when you come in it doesn't matter what

full-sized Vitamix you're getting they don't can do everything equally as yeah

so you kind of have to break it down into you know what's important to you

you know do you like working with programs are you comfortable with manual

control yeah all the machines have manual control some of them have

programs you pay a little bit more than that but it's a convenience feature you

don't need them to be able to do hot soup motor machines make hats that's

right and so I tell people if you love all the gadgets and the technology then

top of the line new ascent might be about if you're just getting started and

you're not sure how you reduce it then grab a new Explorer Ian my gosh you get

in for such a great price what Shah was just brought this to our attention from

from behind in it's it's that you make this commitment and you're holding

yourself accountable it's like having a gym membership and okay I'd paid for a

gym membership every month I'm gonna use it I'm sort of forcing myself to use it

because if I don't I've already committed so I have to absol it's a it's

sort of like a contract with yourself to use this thing absolutely and if you

figure out you know if you are stopping at a smoothie play by a smoothie yeah

yeah yeah the math it definitely doesn't add up and it looks like so if you want

to get into doing this new at home you can even like factor out what you're

saving for blend that you know to stop somewhere to pick something else up one

of my good friends when she went back to college for her second degree she

calculated the cost of every class from her tuition and that's how she held

herself accountable and you can kind of do the same thing with the blender you

know you're caught like what what money did I invested I want to get out of it

totally we never buy smoothies and juices out unless we're unless we're

traveling and in a pinch but it doesn't make sense it doesn't add up

no and look at all the sugar in the ones that

being done the commercial places it's like if you really read the Indians list

how many times you see like apple juice is the base component and you can switch

that out with something healthier like water or milk or just and that really

changes the calorie makeup and you get such a much healthier and anything

that's fresh I mean when they're blending when you're blending it fresh

for yourself okay so I totally agree I have two questions one I've always been

one to avoid the high-end products the brand name products because I find that

the value isn't there what you're buying is a name and the example that I've

that's close to us now is with strollers we know that there are very expensive

strollers with very fancy names and we can't see the value but it's easy for us

to see the value in the best blender the Vitamix one thing that one of the girls

that used to work with us and I and I think you heard her say it is I am too

poor to buy cheap I cannot afford to have to replace this blender every six

months every year and have it it's it's that unknown expense constantly popping

up that you're not budgeting yeah and if you invest in a brand that's proven yeah

I mean 96 years old Vitamix has been around yes yes and it's like when you

can invest in something that's proven that you know is gonna last you have

that you make that initial investment but you know it's there for you yeah a

long time too and because it morphs with you the Vitamix does it's like you know

you can be doing using it as you're starting any on the family with your

baby from the purees you got you and she'll they're used over to do your

smoothie yeah but then as the kids start to get older and you're gonna want to be

getting them to eat more vegetables stuff like that

a great vehicle you can make frozen dessert sneak some stuff in there yes so

it's gonna grow with your family yes and that's why people say they have them for

generations they pass them down just will come in with their grandmothers

vitamins that a lot she remembers what Grammy used to make them the Vitamix

they will move with you and I think that as a brand that's something that comfort

level that it's going to last you really pays off and I know it's an intimidating

price point yeah absolutely it is Vitamix is definitely trying to

give people options to make it more affordable yeah offering the payment

plans but you're in you're investing in something that you're going to be having

for a long time I like that yeah last question sure I have a couple

friends that have a $20.00 blender and they use it every day and they say when

it dies they'll get a Vitamix mm-hmm and I can't sell them on a Vitamix it's

almost as though I'll be winning in a sense I think in their head or they kill

or they just can't justify it they are who they are

what do you say what do you say to them I tell people that feel like my blenders

as good as yours I'm like why don't you bring me your ingredients and let me

blend them for you a blend off and then and then and then you tell me it's the

same experience it's not the same experience I'm making a chunky not a

smoothie you're right so I mean truly yeah so it's in its the fact that that

little blender they're not they're doing the same thing all the time all the time

it's like with the Vitamix you're going to have you're going to use it for other

things like we did yes you give a lot more value out of it I think you do

right I think you do it is you're buying a tool for your kitchen

yeah no no no I mean you're not buying a single-use machine you're not buying a

ice cream maker yeah you are you are buying an ice cream maker but but it's

not that's not its sole purpose it's doing so many different things yeah we

use it for the whole gamut of kitchen needs so food processing we make

cauliflower fried rice like you say but detox out we we make hot soups we make

our famous case of hot cheese sauce we make nut butters you make frozen

desserts ice creams hummus I mean we it's it's dressing it's

the only appliance that we use and yeah that's our job I get it but dressings

yeah all the time we make fresh dressings are wonderful

so there you get more patents if there's more to it than just a $600 smoothie

maker it's it's more than that it's way more than that and I think that that's

just it someone once said that she thinks of it

as a member of the family yes if you if something's not there and you miss it

when it's gone I like that it's a family

doesn't have it she misses it yeah we we don't push and we just we actually take

the opposite approach we just say like we're here whenever you're ready just as

soft as possible like we're gonna sit we'll be here if it's one month one year

ten years like we're gonna be here this is what we do that's what we don't

endure because it is a high price point you know people need time to wrap their

head around so it's like somebody will walk in the store they're typically not

gonna buy the first time yeah yeah come in they're gonna want a little bit more

information I'll explain to them the difference on the models and then

they'll go out and they'll look around on their own they'll think about what

they're doing but and I always tell people I'm like bring me your groceries

bring me your problem you're looking to help you solve it yeah because I think

that that's an important part of being able to justify the machine you'd be

able to no do it rather than justify the price point is to know that you can do

all those things yeah don't do it for me don't do it for

Michelle even though she's like she makes a good case do it for yourself

whenever you're ready I think that's I think that's the bottom line

yeah we'll be here we'll be here yes very 96 years yeah that's right that's

right listen listen listen to Michelle's words

are very good and helpful thank you for watching life is noyoke I'm fine yeah
