what's going on guys so today I want to give you five ways that you can grow on
Instagram fast here in 2018 now this is part one of a two-part series part 2
will be tomorrow and then we'll you know continue on with our making money online
videos but I've been really into Instagram lately and I'm really trying
to grow my Instagram and kind of you know figure out this this Instagram
algorithm update to my advantage here in 2018 and I want to bring you guys that
knowledge cuz I think it's really really important and Instagram is a great place
whether you know it ties into YouTube or your personal brand or whatever you're
trying to do here on social media or in general Instagram is a great platform
for you to you know execute on that essentially and so that's why I want to
bring you be these pieces of content now first and foremost full disclaimer you
know I do not have a huge Instagram whatsoever literally I've never ever
ever really used Instagram to its max potential essentially and before I used
to do automation easy to follow and follow in 2017 trying to basically just
generate traffic to my website to get sales and it worked great but obviously
with a new algorithm update and I've done videos on this in the past and
we'll get into it specifically in these two videos it's been a little bit more
difficult essentially to you know follow and follow doesn't really work anymore
and I plan on doing another video later on in the week maybe next week sometime
on automation versus non automation what you should be doing whether follow and
follow is right for you and whether or not that's a viable way to basically you
know generate traffic or you know continue to grow on Instagram here in
2018 with the update so getting into it like I said if you you know you want to
go over and follow me I do not have like you know 100,000 followers anything like
that but I do plan on growing substantially here in the coming couple
months and obviously this year I'm really excited to see how that's gonna
go and I'm really excited to engage with you guys on a new platform so first and
foremost and just jumping into it is leveraging your screen size and your
aspect ratio now this is something that I've heard you know a lot recently but
before you know about a couple weeks to a month ago I had never heard anybody
even say this and it's a little legitimately a great tip because it's
all about screen real estate on Instagram when people are scrolling
through their feeds you know if they're if
they've already followed you and they're not finding you in a different way
and there's going through their feed it's all about screen real-estate you do
not want to be sharing your picture with another picture or even getting cut
slightly at the top of it with another picture so it's all about screen real
estate so if whether you're not your you know editing your your pictures on a
site like canva that's really really free and easy to use or an app or you're
using an app like vsco which is another one that I greatly suggest that you guys
go ahead and get another app little caveat to is cut story this is something
I'm gonna talk about in a second with you know Instagram stories and getting
into that here in 2018 but cut stories a great great app that you can use that
will essentially if you're creating content or creating stories you don't
have to create 15-second clips and then you know front kind of file them after
each other what you can do is you can create one long video one long clip or
you know however you want to film that and use the app cut story to cut that in
you know 15 minutes of 15 minute chunks 15-second chunks that will essentially
help you relay your message better with Instagram stories so that's first
leverage your aspect ratio that's crucial crucial crucial what do I mean
by that well you want to make sure that you're using a three by four aspect
ratio that will give you the biggest bang for your buck on the actual phone
and that will allow you to get the most screen real estate possible therefore
giving you more eyes more potential likes and more potential follows so
that's number one number two is really leveraging Instagram stories here in
2018 Instagram really is trying to push live and Instagram is really trying to
push Instagram stories and if you're not using stories and this is something I
was guilty of myself for a long long time and like we talked about initially
in this for the first part of this video you know I wasn't using stories I barely
was posting I was literally just following and trying to generate traffic
that way but I've been really kind of honing in on my Instagram story and if
you actually go and check it out today or maybe even tomorrow the Instagram
story out right now is not a good indicator of the the stories that I've
been putting out in the past and the stories that I will be putting out in
the future because I've been literally updating and something we're gonna talk
about next I've been updating my highlights and the covers from my
highlights so it's a bunch of just jumbled stuff today but like I said if
you do go ahead and follow me and I'll drop my Instagram right now on the
screen for you if you do go ahead and follow me you know stay tuned for some
great and a great examples of that coming in
the future no Instagram stories why should he be doing it essentially first
and foremost because as a youtuber I know essentially are especially sorry
that if you put out video content people engage with that a lot easier it's a lot
more it's a lot easier to relay a message in a short amount of time with
video than it is you know you can like they say video you know a picture says a
thousand words well if a picture says a thousand words
what does a video say so you can communicate a lot a lot a lot and a
great message and you know even a 15-second video clip or imagine using
this in the entire 60 seconds if you kind of leverage that and you use that
you know to your advantage especially with the added benefit of the fact that
Instagram is pushing your content onto more people because you're utilizing one
of the features that they really want to push here in 2018 you can benefit you
know both of those so use Instagram stories and don't just do the generic
you know just post a picture and let it you know kind of go through that helps
every once in a while for sure but start trying to put out pieces of content
filming videos you know whether or not you're literally just putting a clip
together like one of the ones that I've showed in the past or you're literally
going through and just you know filming slight videos and kind of meshing them
together with a software you know an editing software that you can use and
there's literally a million editing software's that you can use all across
you know Instagram they're not Instagram all across apps you know on the iPhone
or you know Android whatever you have there's an editing software out there
that you can use just don't think I'm looking at the camera what I'm trying
we're all my vlog camera right now so we're getting better at that number
three and moving on is Instagram highlights now these are all generic and
easy tips but they're all very very relevant trust me and I actually like I
said in part two tomorrow I have some great great tips coming for you as well
so stay tuned for those but number three is using Instagram highlights I see
constantly across the board not enough people using Instagram pilots and it's
definitely something that I'm just kind of getting into myself but why not
leverage that everybody wants to worry about their bio everyone wants to worry
about their pictures and their posts and and their hashtags and all those things
are great in their phenomenal ways to use to grow your Instagram but the very
first thing that people see especially with the new algorithm update now is
your highlights so when somebody comes to your page if they've never been your
page for if they're unfamiliar with who you
as a brand as a person anything they're going to be paying attention to the
highlights that you have and what you bring to the table highlight wise first
I promise you that so make sure that you're using highlights whether that
outlines you know if your photographer put a highlight together of a couple
streaming you know pictures that you feel like are your best work because not
everybody scrolls all the way down the feed but you know it's a really great
example and a really great way to showcase what you bring to the table as
a brand as a person you know why they should follow you and if whether you're
using stories or whether you're using posts not everybody has their best posts
or their best story every single day and a way that you can use highlights to
basically your advantage is by using your best pieces of content right in
those little blocks in the beginning so that people see your best pieces of
content god forbid your story that day or your post that day if you even post
it isn't your best so that's a way that you can you leverage although what I
just said that's when you can leverage your Instagram to basically get more
followers and get more eyes on your best content by using Instagram highlights so
use them number four and moving on is engaging with people in your niche and
following hashtags so following hashtags is another great
you know example of the Instagram algorithm you used to not be able to
follow hashtags first and foremost you should be following hashtags
I suggest picking 15 to 20 maybe even 30 targeted hashtags around your niche and
what you're interested in this will send messages just like the hashtags you know
hash tagging on your post on your posts or on your stories and how to many
hashtags that aren't relevant can confuse Instagram and basically cause
you to not rank for any of them and not have visibility on any of them it's the
same thing with tags so if you're following a hundred tags and none of
them are you know targeted or none of them are relevant to what you're trying
to be known for you're just gonna confuse the algorithm and it's the same
thing with YouTube tags as well so keep that in mind I suggest really really
honing in and kind of trying to identify ten to fifteen maybe twenty to thirty
max targeted hashtags that you're really really interested in follow them because
then Instagram will obviously number one know that that's you know what you stand
for and what you're inter sit in but number two little offs it
will also the new algorithm basically gives more weight see the tags that you
follow and will there thus therefore be more inclined to rank you for those tags
in the future when you tag those tags on your that's a lot of tags when you tag
those tags on your posts in the future so that's something to keep in mind you
gotta you've got to follow targeted hashtags around what you're going to you
know what you're interested in in gait and engaging in and what you want to
potentially rank for in the future so for me specifically you know I follow
like Amazon FBA I follow business I follow you know ecommerce digital
marketing stuff like that because obviously that's based on what you know
what what I'm all about on this channel and my histogram and my brand but on top
of that you don't just want to follow hashtags you want to engage with the
posts on those hashtags so I suggest going through you know it doesn't have
to be daily but if you can do it daily you know if you're you know you have a
little bit time here and there in between you know sets on a workout or
you know you you right before bed or something like that go through pick a
hashtag for that day and go through and engage with like 10 to 15 posts comment
on them something thoughtful and you know really put some thought into it and
that way Instagram will be more inclined to see you communicating and engaging in
that hashtag in that niche but more importantly the people that are posting
in those hashtags and those niches will will you'll have more visibility there
they'll start to notice you they'll start to know you for that hashtag that
you know you always comment on these type of posts and maybe they'll go ahead
and return the favor so that's another great way where you can get you know
kind of build a brand build an audience and kind of get your name and your brand
out there finally number five is moving on to DM groups now this is something
that is huge here in 2018 still and it's something that I have literally just
closed a blind eye to you know for for the first far as I can remember back you
know everybody said you know I would literally watch Instagram tip videos all
the time you know a month or two ago and even like you know four months ago when
I was still doing following follow and automating everything and basically
everybody would go through you know these normal ten you know 2018 tips and
one of them would always be DM groups was kind of roll my eyes like odm groups
like that's so lame like you know just gonna kind of engage with other people
so they engage back but it's true and I've not just not just hearing it from
everybody else but kind of looking through and enjoining some of these DM
groups myself and I actually haven't engaged in any of them yet I plan on
building a couple with you guys so stay tuned for that a second but looking at
the the evidence and kind of going through the people in the DM groups and
as soon as they post they get engagement on their post which therefore it causes
Instagram to push their content out to a vast majority of other people that
wouldn't have otherwise seen their posts whether that's you know the other 90% of
their followers that would've otherwise seen it or it's people that are outside
their network that Instagram wants to push that content to because they see it
as an engaging piece of content that's something to keep in mind
DM groups are not going away anytime soon in my opinion it's definitely
something that I'm going to get into myself and definitely something I've
been sleeping on for a while now and it's big mistake that I made don't make
that same mistake make sure you're trying to get into DM groups but make
sure that they're relevant and targeted around the niches that you're you know
engaged with as well that's the same theme that we're going on with all these
things make sure it's relevant make sure it's targeted and make sure
that your page and your brand represents that type of you know content and that
will definitely help you be pushed to the right targeted people because that's
what it's all about so that's number 5 DM groups if you guys
want to join a DM group with me I'm gonna try I'm trying to kind of create a
couple not you know necessarily to push a bunch of content out just because I
think it'd be cool way to and you know obviously interact with you it benefits
me it benefits you and we can start building our own DM groups around people
that we trust and kind of engage with each other that will help us all grow
you know will pass the likes around will pass the comments around and so on and
so forth and we can all grow as a cohesive unit because clearly if you're
watching this you're into Instagram marketing and if you're that this far in
the video you're definitely into Instagram and number two you're all into
you know as well as me you know just online marketing making money online and
stuff like that just in general so it'd be really cool to kind of you know
engage with people in that niche see different peoples posts and perspectives
obviously mine obviously yours and some other people and kind of engage on a
different platform I think that will be really really cool so hope you guys like

but I do kind of want to go ahead and ask you you know what has you been your
what have you seen on Instagram here in 2018 you know in the four months that
we've seen or I guess it's been three months because it's early April at the
time of shooting this video but what has been your number one tip if you were
making a video like this what would be your number one tip to other people to
grow on Instagram what have you seen works for you and with that being said
