in a cell, I'm slower than a turtle, but I'm happy in

A journey through the music - Duration: 2:23.

There is a buzz that sometimes runs right through you just before it kicks off.

When the lights go out and the concert is about to begin,

there is a sort of electricity in the air,

that you can almost reach out and grab.

It is important for us that we work

with genre creators and big names

because they are often artists that are still relevant.

But it is also important because they are a source of inspiration

for many of the young artists we present.

Everyone can stand up and rap along at the Orange Scene when Eminem plays.

But you can also go out and see a tonne of other artists that he has inspired.

And in the same way, you can go and see CV Jørgensen

and have a fantastic experience listening to the classic tracks that he has produced.

And then you can go and see Bisse, who pushes forward into a textual universe

that is heavily inspired by CV Jørgensen

This year we are working even more closely on

the boundary between music and other art forms

When we put Chelsea Manning on for example,

this is because we want to present something that can get our guests thinking,

that can generate debate, so if we can inspire further dialogue

and more reflection, beyond providing a free space

that is best suited for good times and experiences,

then I feel that we have done our job pretty well.

If you think of the bottom part of our line-up as a treasure chest,

then we are pirates who have travelled the world and collected treasure,

but rather than bury it on a desert island, we prefer to share it around,

so we try as best we can to get the message out

about all the good music there is out there,

but we also need our audiences to go out and hunt for new discoveries themselves,

because you can only get the complete Roskilde experience

if you go out yourself and listen to some new music

that you weren't already familiar with beforehand.

So even though we recorded the sounds in Pro Tools because

Willie doesn't make his beats in Pro Tools he make them in

Fruity Loops, he has to recut 'em, almost pretty much

it's like re-sampling.

- I just like doin' it through here, it's just,

this is my process, that's what it is, it's just,

for me, it's just easier to see everything up, like

this close and this is home for me so I just like to use it.

(bag scrunching)

I feel like flawed sounds has a lot more character
