"Get A Life" Episode 1
talk about like all the things in the world that can make you as happy as
possible and just literally the second we're about to cut an intro video just
got a message from Sam wifey just to say there's chilli in the
fridge at home if I fancy any before dinner she's gonna walk the dogs and
she's picked Isabel up that is support everyone needs support anyway this is a
series called get a life this is not so much telling you to get a life this is
actually showing me to get a life in the health and fitness space and being a
personal trainer there's so many different things that can drag you and
keep you in to our industry whether it is personal development and hey hundred
personal development companies so I kind of know how that feels
whether it is clients booked in early sessions and late sessions whether it is
a constant wants and need to improve our loss of identity can be genuinely real
there's a lot of trainers that like forsake their hobbies and forsake who
they are because they feel they need to put everything into their career and
well that's not wrong you need to go through phases of that knowing when the
right time is to pull back and really identify where your hobbies and your
passions and the things that make you happy where they exist is a really
important thing so I'm gonna take you through a series over the course of the
next however many weeks and we're gonna show all the different things that made
me happy in my life and they're not things that exclusively happy to me I'm
gonna really really try and get into different things like music how music
can make us feel foods friends we're gonna look at sports with your look at
technology we're going to look at so many different things and every single
week there's going to be a task for you to do that I want you to really embrace
really adopt because I'm gonna try if I can to make you remember who you are at
your happiest and if you're not a personal trainer this still has
crossover for you because these things aren't necessarily linked personally to
personal training and all these kinds of things there's something you need to
remember happiness is something that is an accumulation of things how we look
how we feel the experiences we have our future plans all of this stuff allows us
to get a life as a result of that we're going to go through
the next few weeks this week we're going to look at music so come with me to the
record shop
similar go CD player anymore ready I'm going down the record route
Slovo
music so change on this like now it's about being like a media and the whole
experience of it if you think of a song you can get access to it straight away
so there's that I think it was more of a different media experience like you
literally she playing this stuff if you look through Shoreditch as puck they
genuinely look like they've just stepped out of urban outfitters yes 1977 this is
different how do you think spare I think it's genuine about works so ridiculously
cool to get is just a different media experience like just printing artwork I
know that a lot of artists still like do artwork like in front of their mp3s and
whatnot but I don't think you get to experience it quite the same way like
your iTunes or Spotify playlists and things birth every now it's just nice to
stir hold something tangible weapons in that Wembley yeah I'm pretty sure that's
one been here these guys are watching Wembley being built and that's
definitely the district Wembley minder Oasis Oasis Oasis is that because it
that's like from the first week of release
Wow 200 pounds over in 10 years like 15 years I've been working on
somebody's designing the cover it's like yeah I want half a woman and a star and
some lights okay yeah no problem up into honey from textbook squat as well you
see that of them I thought my heels off the floor
yes sir can I get a piece thank you how many copies of that do you sell each
month is it popular
Thanks trying to fly a just like a young person if it's working
thank you yeah please can I have a bubbling squeak box meal yeah chicken
pork the pork and then I'll have a wrap with just chicken please so I just got
apparently the best-selling album the shop which is sales of one record per
week so rumors by Fleetwood Mac one of the best-selling albums of all time
album I grew up with like my mother played it my dad played it it's just
very nostalgic uh so behind have a nostalgic moments of nostalgic pieces
but I've just paid five quid more from that in there than what I did I could
have paid in HMV and I could have paid what Apple $9.99 for it but st. quite
nice about buying from a record shop the main reason being is that that these
clothes are preserving a part of our history and that might sound like
massively overstated and no HMV or hundreds of saying but I don't think HMV
will be around in the long run long so it looks like they're struggling
financially so it's gonna be down to small independence to preserve something
is so special in the history of music and with that history of music every
single one of us has moments of nostalgia from childhood or special
moments our life where musics been a huge part of it so savor in little bits
like this
it's cool and help in a small business making sure they can help preserve it
with us and preserve it for us it's the right thing to do
okay suppose five pounds more like wraps their acrost in seven quid
I could have fasted lost body fat as well by the way Stevie Nicks back then
just that I don't press on it that was weird she was much that's why she's the
queen of rock and roll why don't Stevie Nicks good job you good
genetics this this is basically a topknot wanker but from back in 77 I
remember holding this artwork holding and touching it and I don't know how
much longer this kind of stuffs gonna be around for but I do know that the people
the front line of that are gonna be independent places that curate this
stuff and hold it and put a store together so we can go and touch and feel
media like it used to be we're going to HIV in a minute because they've got
record that I genuinely want there and that's cool but it's important to
support people that are trying to maintain a grasp and trying to keep one
foot in the past because this is such an influential album as well plus they're
all full hipsters yeah totally yeah
we'll get more of this in week two but this is a reason why there's gonna be a
food episode there must be around about 700,000 grams of protein in this a
little bit of salad and it's completely carb Pub free bread so it's basically
vegan this is a vegan wrap with
vegan chicken just there to keep everyone happy that's the main thing as
long as everyone else is happy I can be happy too so first I will you ever
bought what was it mmm Eminem's album so you bought the zodiac Slim Shady LP
isn't it or was it Marshall Mathers LP whoa that's the one way like spoke about
like burning down the house of people in it a shit right yeah great I don't know
the first album the first album might well have been an index of pj & duncan
psyche which apparently was banned in japan or they had to change the name in
japan to to a different name i think it might be ready to rumble or something
because psych in japanese i think meant at the time drugs pj & duncan genuinely
released an album in japan called drugs legends my favorite album is be here now
by oasis come out i think around about 96 if I remember right 95 96 and every
single song on it it means something to me you know it's like a coming-of-age
album it's where I stopped listening to music that was bubblegum pop like Pete
Duncan stop this into like the stuff my mum and
my dad would play on their stereo like mum was a massive fan of Michael Jackson
dad was a massive fan of the Beatles and Elvis and I like to think that I've got
quite a diverse range of tastes based on like my upbringing and especially my
uncle Ronnie he was the one that had the most diverse range of taste of music
I've found my own coming-of-age stuff be here now as a ridiculously important
album to me my favorite ever songs on their song called don't go away and so
as a part of my task for myself this week buying the album in physical format
and because I'm collecting vinyl they didn't have it at the record shop I'd
have prefer to buy it at the record shop it's got some of the most interesting
artwork again I've ever seen on an album and I just really looking forward to
having it and having a big like 12 by 12 display of that album somewhere
prominent in my house just as a reminder of like that time that like most
ridiculously happy time like most carefree was
that age like 14 15 years old I listen to it pretty much on like repeat for two
years let's see if we can find this the first album that I really truly fell in
love my favorite ever album let's see if we can find that HMV it's generally
struggling to find the letter O then that's for trying to sing the alphabet
in my head there we go C download as well rare really unreleased tracks
probably most like ever went to the gym oh that's who did that triangle thing
here it is a solid nine pounds cheaper now the support of local business means
even more to me core by trees especially to look the most possible ironic or the
music represents your identity which one would you buy with what did you buy you
know from the Green Day one place that few and it starts small as well so yeah
just about they've got an extra small for you wait
run away run well David Bowie so is it says you know in fantasy probably
it would suit me but it's definitely kind of thing you reckon Primark would
sell on a trend because he died this is only one I don't even know why anybody
sells this with sleeves you know the sleeves are coming off
right by the way how do people fold t-shirts like this I got so much respect
for them Jonathan pie Friday this frock them watched the guy from Facebook live
pay 1754 or you can see one of his best work on Facebook anyway I don't
understand what people go to watch a right Chris Burgess personal training
concert that's gonna happen next Thursday Friday night next Thursday and
Friday night 1750 tickets for watch me PT no well done you know all the like
that I saw the bill see this is amazing because this is like he does like loads
of covers some people's work but obviously in a country style people
might don't know about Johnny Cash you might know that he covered her which
sipar the logan for the soundtrack to logan the last didn't like the x-men
movies got three pounds going at penny changed three pounds in your pocket
which one would you buy all of them you've got three pounds you're rolling
in money you go for it you buy Angry Birds you were buying another buy Angry
Birds you got Fleetwood Mac the freak with it you're getting that you will a
few bad ok poorly at these two thank you so
you've got three quid you everyone at the gym would choose that all the gym
staff would choose that definitely all the gym stuff to choose that I would
choose to meet with McIlroy Albertson
I was always a Salesman and you had a bad day you had a bad day
okay it could be worse you could listen to a
Sam Smith album in the lonely hour it's even a sad song title I would probably
rather listen to angry birds in Venice as well stop thank you so much you are
it's amazing well that's his dad I got this is a
breakfast lever birthday my favor everyone's favorite album you favor ever
what about all these it
the changes when you guys go that's what talk about today actually I
best still my favorite that come out when I 16 should be here now by Oasis
last album other than that I really loved his Hot Fuss by The Killers
so tasks for you after watching this video there's going to be a cific
different tasks whether you are a trainer or whether you are a muggle I'm
gonna call you a muggle affection at me because it just means your non personal
trainer population birth tasks it for everyone I want everyone to do this
spend three or four minutes longer if your songs are much longer
three or four minutes so this is your favorite ever song your favorite
everyone listen to this week just know how you feel
where does it take you back to how does it make you feel inside you don't do
anything else don't fiddle your phone don't do nothing this is your favorite
song then the next task want you to do is fill one stage further listen to your
favorite album doing nothing else switch notifications
off the chances are you gonna have to take 45 minutes just listening to music
don't skip a single song but if you're a personal trainer and you look into the
business side of things there's always a link back to business in terms of how
good you feel listen to your favorite albums whilst you're trying to do some
productive work and also you think about the buying experiences I've had today
I've spoken to like a food shop owner that's really proud that he's the
mournin TripAdvisor even though there's multi-million pound establishments in
the city the number one place on TripAdvisor is a small her outside
Sainsbury's that says everything about quality what is your quality do it and
how is your message getting out there you think about local independent
businesses yes there's going to be lots of people with much bigger budgets
they're able to do things that you simply cannot but people won't ever
forget the experience the just the pure pleasure of buying something if you can
make it something is truly meaningful to them there's nobody on this earth that
wants to feel worse for buying something or to feel that their purchase doesn't
matter so with this in mind think about inside your personal training all your
gym business think about how do I go out of my way to make sure every single time
a transaction hits my account that person is getting not just what they
paid for but they're getting an amazing experience because that's what life's
about people want to feel that they have an amazing experiences
you are a part of somebody's memory profile now make sure it's done for the
right reasons so we've got the tasks I'm now genuinely going to spend the next
three minutes ignoring Ed and listening to don't go away by oasis my favorite
ever song, so see you in the car - I'll see you in the car
that one that one
