3 Marketing Videos That'll Get Your Customers Excited ft. Kelly Brown - Duration: 22:55.
So we should introduce our first guest. She's all the way here from Australia. She flew out here all the way from Australia
That's how much she loves you guys. Would you like to introduce her? I would. Kelly Brown is one of my dearest friends and
She really is an extraordinary photographer. She's a multi
International Award-winning photographer around the world I've watched this woman grow into who she is right now
Which I think is absolutely incredible. She's incredible photographer and businesswoman
She's just purchased an amazing studio in Brisbane, which I got to visit last month I
call her the world's greatest newborn educator because for me, she is without doubt world class, so Kelly brown everybody.
It is really exciting to be here
like they said I just flew in from Australia the other day, so jet lag's a little kind of kind of woozy, but
when they contacted me like Sally and Jason contacted me to come and present for Animoto
I
they said we can get you to Skype in but I'm like there's nothing better than being here in person and being able to
Share my my photography and ways that I market my business, using Animoto.
I've been using Animoto for about four years in my business
I first started out creating just beautiful slideshows for my
My clients that I would show in my in-person sales sessions
And things like that, or you know if I couldn't get them back into the studio
then I'd be able to send them a link with their beautiful photographs to music and it always you know created such an
Incredible response with my clients that I was like what if I know I can do this with them
I know I can do it with potential clients, so probably about three years ago that
I started to really use video in my marketing more on my website and blog first and then with Social Media and as Sue and
Jason just said you know it's such a fast-paced
You know world social media today and with the amount of businesses and photographers that are on there
it really does blow your mind the content that's actually put on there and
you have to be able to create you know in
You know amazing videos and content just to be able to get someone just stop scrolling
You know the amount of times I jump on Social Media
And I see people complaining about you know no one's seeing my post. No one's liking my
Videos or my photographs or things like that.
And there's a few reasons why and it's because number one the amount of content that's on there or number two
we're not creating content that people want to see you know. We're not engaging them. So that's really important for me, so
For me it's all about
standing out and I want to show off my photography in a beautiful way that really represents my brand and style
So for me I'm going to show you a video in a moment. That's
it's actually been shot in my new studio, and it was just myself and
Garrett that works with us and our digital slr camera
And we just went around and took some footage and we got some behind the scenes things like that
So now I can start to really promote my new studio and my brand with this video, so I don't have a clicker
Yeah, you can get one that's alright
So it's what's important. I'll just keep going while we wait. What's important is provoking emotion and for me
That's really easy because I photograph babies
And it's such an emotional time in a family's life to welcome a new baby and plus
There's so much joy in a family. I know whenever our family welcomes a new baby
It's such a beautiful time you know to come together and really celebrate this new life
So I need to create you know a reaction based on that emotion and leave my viewer excited and wanting more
so
To grab their attention you know we've got to be creating content that our audience is already familiar with which again
represents our brand and
You know our style of imagery
So being able to communicate to connect is really important to me and as Sue mentioned
Before you've got three seconds to get someone to stop
Because if it's not enticing if it's not you know creating a reaction or anything like that
They're just going to scroll on by and you're not going to get you know that that
interaction that you need with your
Potential audience or your potential clients. For me being able to advertise on Social Media especially Facebook
Has been huge like I've been on Facebook for quite a few times
So it's quite a few years, sorry I'm just reading a little time over the back there and I
First joined Facebook because it was a great way to interact with my friends, but now I'm actually on
there using it more for my business every single day
Which is such an incredible tool for me. So being able to create these videos
Means that with the power of multiple images and you know moving
Videos I can actually entice and engage them even more and that's how I'm getting
Those likes, those comments, those shares and people clicking through to my website, which is wonderful
So I'll show you my first video
Which will give you an idea of what I'm trying to to?
Not sell but show my clients
So it's a fairly sort of short video, but it gives people the ability to be able to see what I do and
Kind of connect with me before they even meet me
Which is really
exciting, and it gives them a little sneak peek into my brand new studio and all the different genres of photography that we offer
So it's all about creating that excitement for my clients or my potential clients to get them in the door
You know I want them to see how much I valued photography see how much I love
Photographing them be able to resonate with me and connect with me and then see those finished products. Which is really really important for me
So to create more excitement with my clients obviously I have a video that entices them
but I also have more videos throughout the process of
You know from the moment that you meet your client to the moment that you actually deliver that product
so the next video that my clients actually get to see and it's been an
Incredible tool as well on my website and on social media is creating a what to expect.
I used to send out this really long PDf and it was
Like this is everything that you need to know about your session, but we all know that no one likes to read
I don't I get into bed, and I think I have really good intentions of reading books
But it just doesn't happen
So I'm like how can I get my
Clients to actually see what you know what's involved in the shoot and how to get them
excited as well about coming in for the session and
when I was playing around with Animoto
I'm like why don't we create a what to expect video and then that way I can put text in there
I can tell them what it is that they need to know because a
Lot of people especially new parents who are coming for a session
They've never been to a newborn shoot before so they don't know what's involved, they don't know how the images are created, and it can
Be really nerve-wracking handing your baby over to a complete stranger
So I need to give them that sense of confidence in me as a photographer
And I also need to be able to tell them exactly
What they need to know prior to the session. Don't get me wrong
I still send a PDF because there's a lot of information in there
But I know that I going to hit the main points with my what to expect guide.
So it's creating excitement
Also with that many people on social media today and on the internet
And they're viewing in their workplace and things like that they often have the sound turned off
Which is another key, you know key component to having text and making sure that you hit those points
There's really important points that they need to know but it's keeping it really short and again
you know it's it's
allowing them to see what they're investing in and seeing that they're coming to see someone else's that's
Experienced and you know it's that value which increases over time
For creating those beautiful photographs that are going to hang on the wall
And we're not playing
I don't have a video that's playing
It is warm in here. Isn't it yeah so we can keep talking while we get this video sorted
So we're not standing here doing absolutely nothing
When I'm creating a what to expect video
There's a few things that I actually needed to do so I have my PDF which meant that it was already sort of
documented it was already you know put out in bullet point form which means that I needed to create a script and
I sat down literally with pen and paper, and I'm like okay
How do I want this to play out? And what I did was I wrote it down
We did we covered all the key components that we needed to film that day with our models
Yeah I did. I'll try it again in a second
Okay, and so what happened was
we got a model in and they were just everyday people and
we basically went through our script with them prior to them coming in and
said you know this is what we're creating, and I asked them to bring something really special with them as well, so
When they're creating, you know
when we're creating photographs for their wall for their family. I wanted to have some type of
Importance so I always ask them to bring a special item along
So you'll see in a moment when we go through this video that it's going to have
You know my couple obviously coming in and you're going to see it
And it's not going to look like they're you know they're paid models or anything like that?
they're just normal everyday people, but it's almost like a behind-the-scenes, and it gives people such a great sense of
you know
Of what what you know is going to be achieved from their session and that excitement as well.
So if that was your baby
Or you're expecting a baby you're going to get pretty excited, right?
So the wonderful thing about this video is that we do send it to all of our clients prior to their session?
But it's also all over social media because when I send it to them, they will share it.
It's wonderful. It's such an incredible way to actually promote what it is that we do and get people excited
It's also on my website as well
Which is a great place with people to actually go just to sort of get more information prior to actually booking that session
So another thing that I like to do with my clients is exceed their expectations. I used to create
You know these little packages to give them as a gift after their baby had been in for the session
But it was costing me a lot of money
And I gone through different items of what I wanted to give them as a gift and and then it sort of dawned on me
Why am I not creating them something special that they can share so I'm kind of killing you know two birds with one stone
So I started to create digital birth announcements, and these digital birth announcements have been so incredible for my business. It's
Insane because I don't know about you guys
But I often have clients that prefer the images not to be shared on Social Media
Which is fine and at the end of the shoot you know I'll often say things like
You know I'm going to edit a photo for you today
do you mind if I pop it on Social Media?
and
They always sort of sort of you know will cringe a little bit if they don't want you to share it
or what have you but I always send it to them in an email and
What I found is a lot of people have their Facebook pages and things like that locked down
but if I'm sending them something that they can share on their social Media
It doesn't necessarily have to be on my platform
it's still going to connect with them and
Their friends and family and what I found over the years is that pregnant women know pregnant women
People when they're getting married they know other people that are getting married
So when they're sharing it I've got you know an incredible audience
I also need to make sure that I've got great branding on there as well very very subtle
but you know making sure that there's a there's a little bit of a
Thing at the end that tells people where they can find me. So these birth announcements. I edit five images
I convert them all to black and white because it's really easy. A lot of them are detail shots, so it's a quick post
process
And it's done a couple of days after the shoot. During the session
I ask them for the details about their baby's birth and
birth weight and length and all of that kind of stuff and
Then I go about making the video and I send it off to them
So I give it to them on a link a closed link with a password so they can download it and share it to social
media and it has worked brilliantly in terms of
Exceeding their expectations, going above and beyond, and providing them something that they can love and share with their friends and family
But it also helps me you know reach a larger audience that I may not have been able to
I'll show you one now
You guys can go ahead and play that video for me.
No that's not mine!
That is a beautiful birth announcement.
This is before
There is a great business in that as well. I'm not going to lie.
Five seconds not long at all, but it's long enough to get someone engaged. It's long enough for people to go aww
It's such a beautiful thing to hear when other people do it
And I've listened to all of you do that throughout my videos. It's kind of cool that it works
It's creating that that emotion it's creating that connection with people who are viewing your videos
for me I
Really want to make sure that when I am creating them, I'm telling their story
I'm giving them something that they can share and you may have noticed that that one was done in the new square format, and
Because the majority of people who are now on social media are viewing on their iphones or their ipads and things like that
I want to make sure that they're seeing the maximum amount of that of those images that are being displayed and then not you know
small landscape images
so yeah
Another thing I like to do is listen to my clients stories
I'm going to share with you a video in a moment
of a beautiful family that came in for a shoot recently and
We just got talking she was very nervous about being photographed
she's also another photographer does
beautiful, beautiful work and
her and we started to talk a little bit about why she was so nervous and she said I've never been photographed and
The day that they came in for their photo
Shoot was on their 11th wedding anniversary and she had expressed to me that it was the first time
Since their wedding day that they had been in photographs, and they have these two beautiful little girls
And I thought to myself. How sad is that that they're not existing in these images?
For their family you know to really miss out on the importance of creating those lasting memories
So I went about and created a short video just to help tell their story to show them number one how beautiful
They are but number two just how important it is to be in those photo
so
I'll play that one for you now
So telling that beautiful story for them
it's such an honor for us, but being able to create these videos to help tell their story
They have been able to share those with
The rest of the world and I'm also able to share those with the rest of the world obviously with permission.
So
for me it's all about standing out. You need to be creative, and you've got to get inventive
Which is why I love Animoto because there are so many different themes on there
There are so many ways to be able to create beautiful videos
Some of the key things to remember and Sue and Jason already touched on these earlier is keep it short you know
Make it engaging
Get people excited, and just have fun with it because it's incredibly easy to use
I was a little daunted at first when like four years ago when I first got on there
And I'm like I don't know how to use this software
I don't know what I'm doing, but what I found over the last few years is all the you know the major sort of
Improvements and things that they've had or just that you know the new developments. It's so easy to use it's
Lots of fun, and you can create amazing videos as well, so I can't wait to see what you create.

Ask TechFlow: How We Make Our Videos! - Duration: 8:33.
Hello and welcome to the show.
My name is Alex and this is TechFlow.
Whether you think our TechFlow videos are bad, good or indifferent, we're going to show
you how we make them.
Let's get in to it.
So, the keen eyed of you will have seen "AD" on the thumbnail of this video and you've
clicked on it thinking: Alex, this isn't you saying how you make TechFlow videos with the
team here.
What's going on?
This is just, this is just some scripted advert.
Hold your horses.
Kingston have been a massive sponsor for TechFlow and are for the next up and coming months.
We are really happy to have them on board, being represented by an absolutely outstanding company.
Let me tell you guys this: All of the products featured in this video and all of the products
that we are doing work with for Kingston are products that we know and love and already
used before Kingston were even introduced to us as a sponsor.
Hence why there's legitimately Kingston appliances super-glued, super-glued, under our desks.
So, it's awesome having Kingston on board sponsoring the channel.
The last Kingston video we did, we actually gave away ten memory cards so those winners
are here.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
You'll receive your memory cards shortly.
Now, step one in recording the TechFlow videos.
Pretty much, well, all videos start with lighting.
So it's a good place to start.
Having powerful lights or a lot of light in your image, whether that be natural or plugged
in lights like we're using here, it allows you to lower down the F-stop on your camera.
So, as well as having a lower F-stop, you can also lower what's called the ISO on the camera.
Now, if you're in a dull lit scene, then you're going to want to have a high ISO, so that
the camera lets in a lot of light and it can actually see.
But if you light your scene well, with either natural light coming through a window or with
some soft boxes, you can have a lower ISO which results in a much cleaner, less noisy image.
So, in short, more light, blurrier background, crisper image.
Good start.
Once we've got our two soft boxes set up, it's time to get the camera out.
So, sat on top of our Manfrotto fluid head tripod is the Sony A6500.
Now, we use one of two lenses.
We either use a 10-18 millimetre or a Sony 28 millimetre and, actually, sometimes, if we're daring
a little bit, we'll actually put on this thing.
This is an adapter.
And this allows you to put on a Canon lens on to a Sony body.
And if we're going to use a Canon lens, we're going to use a Sigma 18-35 mm.
What a lens!
We then take the Rode microphone off the top of the hot shoe on the camera, connect it
to an extension cable and then plug it in again.
Why do we do this?
Well, getting the microphone closer to my mouth when speaking will yield a better sound
and hopefully drown out background noise.
We also go as far as, well, putting a carpet down below to make it not echo in here.
This room echoes quite a bit.
All of these products and all of this is in the description along with everything else
that's going to be featured and then, we hit record.
Hello and welcome to the show...
<STATIC>
So, once we've recorded the video, well, it's time to, erm, take out the memory
cards from the cameras and get that over to the editing desk.
So, the cards we use in both of our cameras - the Sony A7S Mach 2 and the Sony A6500 - they
are made by Kingston and they are the, well, the SD XC variant because the SD XC variant
only works in these cameras because they record in 4K and need a, erm, a very high read and
write, more specifically, a write speed.
Erm, so that is why we use these cards.
We have a 256 gig card in this one and this one and then very rarely, but sometimes, we
film here on TechFlow with these little portable action cameras - GoPros, or, if we need a
drone, the drone is here, and these use, obviously, micro SD...
<CARD FALLS TO FLOOR> ...that was springy.
These are the SDC A3s from Kingston and these are the SD A3s from Kingston that live in
these bigger cameras and this one - it's currently being written to one of these cards.
Once we're done shooting our main portion of the video, getting all the audio down,
we're making a mental note in our heads about what B-roll, if applicable, we need to get for
this shoot.
To shoot this B-roll, we use this big tripod thing and slider set up, made by Manfrotto.
So, as you can see, we have a very, very fluid slide there and then this is a video head
here so you can see how stable that is.
Unfortunately, this tripod - we went a bit overkill and it's far too big for the A7S.
It's very heavy and very bulky.
We should have got a smaller one, erm, but it does the job for this slider and you can
get some absolutely awesome, awesome tilt and slide shots like this, moving this forward
and tilting the camera or moving this backward and doing a slide and it's still, you can
do three movements.
Again, all of the equipment is in the description if you want to buy it.
So, once we have filmed the main segment of the TechFlow video, got any B-roll, if applicable,
and collated all of that footage on the memory card, it's time to bring it over to one of
the two desks, preferably the editing desk, and get the footage imported.
Underneath each desk is the HS4 from Kingston.
Now, we have these super-glued under this desk, the editing desk and, if you follow
me down here, we've got one super-glued underneath this desk.
Now, the reason we've super-glued these under the desks is number one, because they are
super, super reliable memory card readers.
I've never had one die for me.
I have one of these at home as well.
They're super glued and they're not going to move and they just look super sleek, just
coming up to the desk, putting in your memory card and the underneath, mounted memory card reader
is just absolutely awesome.
They connect to your PC USB 3 via USB - comes with a nice, lengthy cable to do so.
Then we import all of our footage.
So, memory card goes in to the memory card reader like that and literally in a second
it'll come up on the screen.
Copy all of our files.
And there we have it, we're copying over at almost 90 meg a second.
How can you argue with that?
When we are on the go making TechFlow videos, we use this MLG 4.
Yeah, Major League Gaming, MLG 4 memory card reader.
Again, exact same specs at this one, pulling in those 90 meg, err, read and write speeds.
Absolutely, err, astonishing speeds.
Plug them in to a USB C cable for this USB C Mac.
Straight in to there and boom.
And also, if you watch my vlog channel, this is how I import my vlog footage every day.
The fastest way I've ever done it.
So, once all the footage is imported, it's time for Jed to go ahead and do his magic
using Adobe Premiere 2017 CC.
We render out in 4K at 45 megabits per second with one pass render and then we upload that
fire to YouTube.
So that, guys, is how we create our TechFlow videos.
If you have any tips or anything you think that we could do better or you have any recommendations,
let us know in the comments section down below and if you think that we're doing something
wrong, yeah, just let us know.
We'd appreciate it and we want to make things faster here at TechFlow so that we can pump
out more videos for you guys.
I hope you've enjoyed this video guys.
Thank you to Kingston for sponsoring this episode and sponsoring the channel in general
- you guys are awesome.
My name's been Alex, you guys have been awesome - we'll catch you in the next one.
