and nutrition strategies that you can
actually use and apply in your life
so if you are new here please consider subscribing.
Also, make sure you watch to the very end of the video today
because I will be sharing how to tighten
and tone up your arms and tush.
So can you target fat loss?"
The short answer is no.
Why you can't lose body fat in just one
area of your body?
Your body stores body fat in different areas of your body based on your genetics.
We all have primary fat storage and secondary fat storage so forth and so on.
Take me for instance, if I gain body fat it will immediately show up in my tush
(Hit the like button if you can relate!)
This is where I am going to gain fat first.
If I were to continue to gain body fat it would start in my hips
then it would progress to my thighs...and then my waist
and so forth and would fill out my frame.
Here's the kicker!
When I lose body fat it's not gonna come off of my tush first.
That's my primary fat storage site.
No!
I It will come off my face and my ankles first.
If I continue to lose body fat it will travel through my chest, my waist.
Eventually, when I am get closer to a lower body fat percentage
only then am I going to see it come off my hips and tush!
Have you ever uttered these words or heard a friend say
"I am losing weight but
my hips are just
huge!"
From my experience of working with 100's of women on how to lose body fat,
most women start to lose body fat in their face
Then it will start going into the torso and the arms and the waist.
What happens is as you get smaller...
because you primary body fat storage is your hips,
everything else is looking smaller
but your hips are just the same.
It's kind of an optical illusion.
You just haven't hit that primary body fat storage spot yet.
Here's another kicker!
If you start to lose body fat and you're getting close to hitting your primary storage area
BUT you start gaining body fat back….
guess where it goes???
You got it!
It goes right into your primary body fat storage area.
Which is...generally speaking for most women...is your hips.
Now, not only is your torso lean
and you still haven't lost the body fat you initially wanted...
now you are adding on to it
so your hips are going to be even wider!
Not what most women are going for!
This is one of the reasons why yo-you dieting is such a nightmare!
More on that in another Shape It Up video.
When you are getting close to your primary fat storage….
keep going!!
Those "trouble areas" will decrease and then may even disappear completely
as you hit your ideal body fat percentage.
Question of the Day
I would like to know what your thoughts are
on targeting fat loss?
One of the best things about being on social media is that I get

Can We Win Frag-o-Matic? [Road to Copenhagen Games #4] - Duration: 5:11.
yNc!
No
yNc!
No
YNC!!
Are we gonna win?!
Yes
We gonna win?!
No
Aaaaaawh :(
Hey guys, Logix here from the Trust Gaming Team
This weekend we are going to attend Frag-o-Matic
Which is a LAN in the neighborhood of Antwerp
I have just finished packing my stuff as you can see here
So you have to bring everything, your monitor, your computer and your gear
And it's an one and a half hour drive for me, so I am gonna put this in the car
And I am gonna jump in the car and be on my way, so I will see you in the car
I just decided to stop for a minute
I have been driving for about an hour so I wanted to get some fresh air
You might have heard that we decided to replace Rilax with Fashr
It was a team decision to do that, we thought that Fashr was a better fit for the team
So going into Frag-o-Matic we did not have a lot of practice
Actually we had no practice...
Pretty sh***y preperation for this tournament...
Anyway, we still think that we can win
Our biggest enemy is ofcourse Defuse Kids
Who are first at the Mijn Domein Masters
Who we lost against 16 - 8 and 16 - 6 in the first week
So we really want to show them what we are made of
And that they really have to be afraid of us
If we go into the play off at the Mijn Domein Masters
We are just waiting for the group stage to begin
The group stage will proceed as following...
You have four different teams in each group
The first place of that group goes on to the pro bracket
So to the main tournament
And the second place goes on to the semi-pro bracket
That is not really what you want so we have to get first place in our group
Otherwise the tournament is pretty much over for us
But we are pretty confident that we are gonna do that
yNc practicing for FoM
Yes, yes! Very good! Very good!
Let's go boys
So the group staged has ended and we finished first in the group
With quite ease
Won 1 map 16 - 5 and then 16 - 4 and 16 - 2 I believe
So pretty easy group for us
Tomorrow the upper bracket will continue at 11 o'clock
It is now 3 AM, so not that much sleep...
And I am really tired so I am going to sleep now
And I will see you tomorrow
Slept for about six hours I believe
But I will get some breakfast
and get ready because we have to play in 30 minutes
So let's see how that goes
New addition Fashr, playing some warm up against bots
K1nzo to the left of him
Little noob, are we gonna win?!
Easy breh
Lousrevo?
Easy win, boys
And I sit here
To the left, yNc
YNC!!
O_O
Whoa, dude...
Lost 16 - 2 on Nuke, bad game but yeah...
So we went into the lower bracket
Won our first game there against Vanguard
Won like 16 - 3 or something, pretty easy game
The game after that was against TriplePlay, also a pretty easy game on Cache it was 16 - 4
After that we had to face Defuse Kids which we sadly lost
So we are out of the tournament now
Anyway, I am gonna pack up my stuff
Drive home
And I will speak to you a bit when I get home
Hey Ozzy
Yeah
High five! Yeeeh
Anyway dissapointing day, lost against GetGaming 2 - 1
And lost against Defuse Kids in the lower bracket who knocked us out of the tournament
16 to 13
I played really bad in that game
Definitely blame myself for losing that game
And I want to apolagize to all the supporters
For the really awful showing we had at Frag-o-Matic
Copenhagen Games is already in a month
And we have A LOT to work on, I mean...
We are NOT ready at all
So we will start grinding as soon as possible
We will be better!
And I think you are going to see the best Dutch team you have ever seen at Copenhagen Games!
Sayonara!

Style Yourself Taller & Slimmer Instantly - 3 Simple Tips That You Can Use Right Now! - fabulous50s - Duration: 9:22.
today I'd like to share with you a couple of styling tips that will
lengthen and slim you down no matter what your body shape if you'd like to
know more please keep watching hi I'm Schellea this is fabulous 50s a lifestyle
channel that celebrates women in their 50s and if you're in your 50s click
subscribe and click the bell and you'll be alerted every time there's a new
video so today I want to teach you a few things that will make a big difference
to the way you put together an outfit and it's just a few simple rules that
you apply every time you get dressed okay tip number one if you want to
lengthen your look you create an optical illusion in a few different places so
the first optical illusion you can create is with something around your
neck whether it be a collar a button-up shirt or a necklace or some piece of
jewelry so that the eye goes down so it's bringing you up this look here
starting up top I've got two pieces of silver that are pointed down ways so
your eyes going down and it's making me look longer the second thing is to never
stop a garment at the widest part of your body so for many of us who have got
wide thighs and hips and if you're going to wear a shirt that just sits on that
part of your body that's where the eyes going to go and it's widening that part
because that's where the bit of fabric is what you can do instead is either
stop your top out of the smallest part or cinch it in at the smallest part of
your body which can be here or here or longer past your hips so work out what
the widest part of your body is and never stop there what I do is go always
an asymmetric line this top here is on an angle there's bits of fabric coming
down it's soft and on an so the eye is always pointing down and
even when I'm wearing skirts I try and have something that's heading downwards
and this really really works I'll give you an example with this top I've
changed it it actually falls down to the side
this is bringing emphasis to the side of me and if I was a little bit bigger it
would sort of come out here and I didn't want that also although this is on an
angle it's cutting me off so when I do something like add this look it's coming
down and the eyes going down so can you see the difference there if it's here
the eyes going up and it's pushing me up and making me look shorter and that's a
really good trick if you can work out some ways to incorporate this into your
wardrobe it works every time so by simply putting this up I've created the
optical illusion that I'm longer than what I really am and you can do this
with some tops that you have this may not be your style but whatever your
style is if you can make the eye go down in some sort of asymmetric way you are
going to look slimmer every single day of the week another tip is if you've got
the widest part of your leg is here you'd never stop a pair of shorts here
because then the hem of your shorts is going to sit at the widest part of your
leg and that's what people will notice so to slim your leg you always stop your
pants at the smallest part of your leg it's constantly remembering to think
long lines don't ever cut it off where the widest part of your body is this
also goes with your calves so if you've got thick calves
or your Casa thicker if you stop three-quarter pants right at the thick
part of your car again you're going to look out of proportion and the eye is
going to go to the widest part of your legs if you have skinny ankles
that is a nice area to show off so you'd stop your pants just wear the slim part
of your ankle is and it's gonna make you look longer keep this in mind don't stop
any garment where the widest part of your body is if you just do this one
simple trick I think you'll be really happy because it does make a huge
difference okay keeping that rule in mind carry it all the way down to the
bottom of your legs for example if you stopped your jeans at your calf and then
had the carp showing and then ankle and then your bare feet or sandals the flow
of color that you're wearing would just stop all of a sudden and your eyes gonna
be looking at that so here's what you can do I wear ankle boots and I always
get them to the height of the skinniest part of the bottom of my leg which is
here if my ankle boots came up to here the ankle would go like that and that
that line would be accentuated so when you're shopping for boots shop for them
to finish right at the best skinny part of your leg and another thing is that
I've got a zip on these boots so what the zip is doing again it's an optical
illusion of a line it just looks like I'm longer and taller lines going down
this way is great for slimming okay another thing you can do is to stop your
jeans at the skinny part of your ankle which I've done but if your jeans are
not the right length for you don't roll them up let's just say I rolled my jeans
up to here it's sitting at the wider part of my car so I've got two things
going on I'm bringing attention to the wide part of my calf the second thing is
I'm rolling the fabric so it's adding thickness to the wider part of my
half so it's a double doozy you don't want to do that this is what I do find
out the best part of your ankle to stop your genes second thing you do is draw a
line on the bottom of you jeans ever so slightly going downwards and this will
give the optical illusion that your legs are actually going for longer and longer
I cut the jeans exactly where I want them to be and I pick up the threads to
get a frayed look and I kept going and going until I have a nice little bit of
fray and that fray adds a nice touch to your jeans and it gives you an unique
pair of jeans that nobody else has got so that's a good thing and also you're
not rolling your jeans up at the bottom which is going to give you bulk we don't
want any box so slimline okay and last but not least if you wear block color
it's always more slimming particularly if you're wearing black I like to wear
charcoal on top because it's not as harsh as black but if I'm all black
going all the way down with some accessories to break up the color I'm
going to look slimmer than I really am and I'm going to look taller than I
really am and you can do this with other colors as well and just keep the block
if you're wearing black and black and a different colored jacket this column
down here is all black and it's going to make you look longer even if you're
wearing a straight shirt underneath and then you can wear some longer lines in a
jacket or a cardigan and that will bring your lines down longer but when you look
in the middle and it's all one color that makes you look so slim and if
you're wearing shopping for swimwear or sportswear or something like that if you
can find something with black all the way down the middle and color on the
side this will slim you down immediately and that's because this black line is
going reduce the size of you and bring it in
with this principle if I was wearing this outfit and wearing say light blue
jeans that were rolled up at the bottom I'd straight away squish in size
visually because the light colored down below is making me look shorter styling
is so much fun and you can do it yourself
every day of the week just keep experimenting with different ideas and
if you want to be longer and leaner these tips really work thank you so much
for watching and I'll see you next week

King of Hearts: Can You Feel the Love? - Duration: 42:50.
♪♪
>> Let's talk to Him.
Dear God, it is a battle
down here.
We needed those words, "One day
we shall study war no more,
and we will walk in the light."
All the hurting hearts
who are gathered here
with smiles on their faces
'cause we don't tell people
how we're really feeling.
The world just beyond these
walls, desperately in need.
What are we going to do?
Teach us.
Speak to us.
We pray in the Holy Scripture.
We ask in Jesus' name.
Amen.
So I'm going through my library
the other day, and I'm pulling
out books.
I said, "Do I have any books --"
starting a new GROW group
called Against the Strongholds:
Praying East & West.
"Do I have any books?
Do I have any books?"
A seminary professor friend
of mine called me --
got up 3 o'clock in the morning.
Sunday morning -- woke up.
Sunday morning.
Yeah.
He said, "I just felt impressed
to pray."
"What?"
"I'm gonna pray for Japan."
Oh, you heard that report
we shared a few weeks ago
about Japan, the massive needs
in that country.
He says, "Dwight, I'm telling
you what.
We don't need namby-pamby
praying now.
We got to pray against
the strongholds.
Man, this is huge for
the Kingdom."
Well, he's right.
I talked to some other
prayer leaders, they said,
"He's absolutely right."
Some plans are being put
into operation to one day
have a day of fasting and prayer
on this campus.
But, anyway, so I'm looking
at all these books, and I'm
thinking, "What kind of
strategic praying do you do?
What kind of militant praying
is it that we're supposed
to do, radical praying to go
against the strongholds?"
God knows these strongholds
are shooting up faster
than we can put our fingers
in the dike.
So what are supposed to do?
The whole world's a stronghold.
You got Japan, you got the U.S.
Even campuses, even
congregations, even our own
hearts can be strongholds.
How do we keep from being
overcome, overrun?
We got this Wednesday night,
7 o'clock, over in
the Youth Chapel.
Come and join us.
We had 39 sign up this last
week.
I really believe the more
we have praying in this battle
against the strongholds...
the more power is unleashed.
2 Corinthians 10:4.
Come and join us if you have
the time.
Anyway, so I'm pulling out these
books, and I come across a book.
You're not going to believe
this.
How do you have a book in your
library you've never read
written by somebody I've never
heard of?
R.A. Torrey.
Ever heard of him?
R.A. Torrey.
I open it up, I spot a line
just like that, and I say,
"No way.
I'm sharing the line with you,"
and that's what I'm gonna do
right now.
I want you to get a little
context for the line.
Open your Bible with me
to the Book of Romans, please.
Romans Chapter --
Everyone knows
the Book of Romans.
Romans 15.
I'll bet you that if you've ever
read the Book of Romans
through -- I know you've read
this, but I'll bet just like me,
you blew through this verse
as if nothing were there
but a passionate appeal.
Paul said, "Oh, please pray
for me.
Pray for me."
Take a look at this.
What did we miss when we didn't
read slowly?
Romans 15.
Then I'll share that little
R.A. Torrey line.
So this is Romans 15.
You didn't bring a Bible,
grab the pew Bible in front
of you.
You don't want to have a Bible,
but you want to use your device,
fine.
Look it up there.
It's Romans 15:30.
This is the N.I.V. --
put it on the screen for you.
"I urge you" -- Paul writing...
I mean, this is pretty dramatic.
"I'm begging you" -- some of
your translations read --
"I'm begging you.
I'm pleading with you.
Pray for me."
You will never have a full
appreciation of what your
prayers for other people,
the impact they have.
What happens when just little
old you pray?
You pray for this little old
pastor, I'm telling you what --
[ Sighs ]
Do we need each other's prayer?
Paul says, "I'm pleading with
you," and yet tucked right in
this line, he says, "I ask that
you pray as I come to you
in the name of the Lord Jesus,
and" -- Did you catch that?
"I come to you in the love
of the Spirit."
Now, hit the pause button
right there.
Wait a minute.
This is not just about praying.
There's this little phrase
tucked away, but do you know
what that little phrase
dramatically is telling us?
Get this.
The Holy Spirit is a divine
person who loves you personally.
There are all kinds of people
around -- maybe even on this
campus.
There are people who think
the Holy Spirit is this kind
of ethereal cloud from God
that hovers over the Earth,
embracing all people
with God's love.
Wrong.
That's not the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit's not an it.
The Holy Spirit is a He.
Had a woman come up to me
after -- a young mother --
met her in the hall as I'm
walking around, just before
walking to this front pew,
and she said, "Dwight, my name
is Carolyn, and I want to tell
you something.
The Holy Spirit is not a He,
He's also a She."
Well, she's right.
We try to use our human pronouns
to capture God.
You can't.
The point is, He/She is not
an it.
That's the point -- not an it.
Too many people, "Well,
the Holy Spirit means the Spirit
from God, this mind of God,
the heart of God."
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong,
wrong.
And, by the way, what did we
just read about the Holy Spirit?
The love of the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit loves you
personally.
Dwight, who cares?
Ethereal spirit or personal
being -- what's the difference?
You want to know what
the difference is?
Here comes the R.A. Torrey line.
I want you to look this up
right now.
It's in your Study Guide.
Pull it out.
Let's go to that R.A. Torrey
line.
Does this tell it like it is?
Absolutely.
Study Guide's in your
Worship Bulletin.
You didn't get
a Worship Bulletin
when you came in?
Come on.
We got some friendly ushers
who are just itching to come
your way.
Ushers, thank you, please,
for standing up right now
and distributing these
Study Guides.
Hold your hand up.
You see, they have to sit in
other places in the church
because we're going to receive
our Connect Cards in a moment,
but don't worry.
Give them a little time.
And those of you watching
right now, let me put a website
on the screen for you so that
you can get this website.
You can get the Study Guide.
You see it on your screen?
There it is now --
www.newperceptions.tv.
Go to that website.
Some of you who are live
streaming are already there,
but you're watching on
a television somewhere,
you're listening on a radio,
go to that website --
newperceptions.tv.
You're looking for this
teaching, "King of Hearts:
Can You Feel the Love?"
When you find that teaching,
click on to it.
You'll have the Study Guide.
You're going to want this
R.A. Torrey quote.
All right.
So up in the balcony,
they're getting to you there.
Okay, let's go.
I'm not going to wait.
By the way, jot down
Romans 15:30 while we're here.
Would you please jot it down?
"I urge you, brothers and
sisters" -- It's in your
Study Guide --
"by our Lord Jesus Christ
and by the love of
the Spirit --"
Wow, that's unusual.
Look at that.
"By the love of the Spirit,
to join me in my struggle
by praying to God for me."
Now, here it comes --
R.A. Torrey.
I promised it to you.
It's on the screen.
You'll need to fill it in.
"It is of the highest
importance," Torrey writes,
"from a practical standpoint
that we know the Holy Spirit
as a" -- Capital "P" --
"Person."
Don't worry about the pronoun
gender.
He's a Capital "P" -- Person.
"To think of the Spirit
as merely an influence or
power," an it, "then your
thought will constantly be,"
Yo, "How can I get hold of
the Holy Spirit and use it?
How can I get more of
the Holy Spirit?'"
Oh, write that in.
Now, watch how he flips
the coin.
Brilliant.
"But if you think of
the Holy Spirit in the biblical
way, as a Person of divine
majesty and glory, your thought
will be, 'How can
the Holy Spirit get hold of me
and use me?
How can the Holy Spirit
get more of me?'"
Did you write that down?
That just changes radically
the way you pray.
"Oh, God, give me more of
the Holy Spirit.
Give me more of
the Holy Spirit."
What if you and I are praying,
"Oh, God, give more of me
to the Holy Spirit?
Give more of me
to the Holy Spirit?"
I mean, can you believe this?
Jot it down.
"The majestic, glorious Being
and Person we think of
as the Third Person of
the Godhead loves" --
He personally "loves you
and me."
Bible calls Him the Comforter.
Bible calls Him the Friend.
Bible calls Him the Advocate.
Bible calls Him the Spirit
of Yahweh.
He's a personal being.
He wants to be a friend with you
forever and ever.
[ Scoffs ]
You can't deal with Him
as an it.
We don't realize that, in fact,
right here in Romans 15:30,
Paul is in the midst of laying
out what I believe is the most
stunning portrayal of Trinity
love anywhere in Scripture.
I'm going to prove it to you
right now.
Come on.
We'll just walk through those
pages in one split second.
Everybody knows Romans 5:5.
We do here because we began
this series two weeks ago
with Romans 5:5, and that's
where he starts talking about
the love of God.
So just look at Romans 5:5.
Remember this verse?
How's this go?
"And hope does not put us
to shame, because God's love
has been poured out
into our hearts" --
through whom? --
"through the Holy Spirit,
who has been given to us."
Would you jot that down, please?
Romans 5:5 --
"the love of God,
the love of God."
Good news, Paul says.
We are all loved to the max
by the God of the Universe.
But now Paul will carefully
begin to differentiate
the love of God.
Watch this.
Drop down to Verse 8.
Verse 8.
You know Verse 8, perhaps...
He's obviously talking about
the Father, because it's not
Christ.
So the Father.
Would you jot that down, please?
Romans 5:8.
He's just described the love
of God the Father.
Now, turn a couple pages over
to Romans 8.
Drop down to Verse 35.
Same Paul still writing.
"Who shall separate us
from the love of Christ?"
Wow.
"Shall trouble or hardship
or persecution or famine
or nakedness or danger
or sword" or flood?
Nothing can separate us
from the love of Christ.
There it is.
Clearly, "the love of God
the Son."
So we have "the love of God
the Father," now we have
"the love of God the Son."
Fill that in, please.
And then drop down same chapter.
Scholars call this
the rarified air of the summit
of the entire Bible.
The summit is right here.
This is the top.
This is the Mount Everest
right here -- Verse 38...
Verse 39.
..."neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all
creation, will be able
to separate us" --
you and me -- "from the love
of God that is in Christ Jesus
our Lord."
Jot it down.
So now we have -- Paul says
I'm gonna pull both those loves
together.
Mm-hmm.
So we have the love of
the Father and you have
the love of God the Son.
"God the Father, God the Son."
Paul, there's somebody else
left.
Ah, he's moving toward that
somebody else, and that's
the text that we began with
a moment ago -- Chapter 15.
Read it again -- Verse 30.
"I urge you, brothers and
sisters" -- "I'm begging you"
some translations.
"I'm begging you,
I'm pleading with you,
by our Lord Jesus and by
the love of the Spirit,
to join me in my struggle
by praying to God for me."
Would you jot that down, please?
There's the final piece,
the capstone, "the love of God
the Holy Spirit."
We have the love of God
the Father, we have the love
of God the Son, and now we have
the love of God the Holy Spirit.
There they are, the three
members of the triune God --
three persons, one God.
Can I get a little personal
with you right now?
I'm gonna tell you something
I do every now and then --
every now and a blue moon
when I'm having my own prayer
beginning of the day.
Sometimes I like to imagine...
that I'm going to, right now,
step into the Throne Room
of the Universe.
Some day I'm planning on it.
Some day I'm planning
that you do the same.
I'm just counting on it.
But I like to imagine what that
moment would be like.
So I come to this massive door,
and it says "Throne Room."
Oh, wow.
So I reach up -- little guy
that I am -- I reach up so
they can hear the knock,
and I -- [ Imitating knocking ]
I knock.
The door slowly opens,
and there is this tall being
lit!
And he looks down at me,
and he says, "Hey, Dwight.
We've been waiting for you.
Come on in."
It's Gabriel.
Gabriel.
He says, "Come on. Follow me.
I know why you're here,"
he says.
And I'm walking in just like --
just with this awe,
this you can't believe it,
the glory, and then I see this
white throne high and lifted up,
and there's this brilliant
light, and now the light is not
a problem, but it's still
brilliant, and there's somebody
sitting there, and I don't know
about you, but you know what
I would do next?
I'm just thinking that probably
I'd burst into tears.
I'm just kind of a crybaby
when I'm with God, and I would
just start crying, and I'd be
down on the golden floor
with my nose pushed against
that gold and just sobbing
for joy.
I can't believe it.
I've dreamed of this day.
Do you know how long
I've dreamed of this?
And then the being in the high,
lifted-up white throne
speaks to me as if He were
reading my heart.
He said, "Dwight, you dreamed
of it.
Let me tell you something.
We've been dreaming of it
ever since you were born.
Welcome."
But I'm down there just sobbing
away, and another person sitting
right beside that -- obviously
God the Father.
This other person comes down
to me, and I feel a warm hand
on my shoulder, and He taps it,
and I look up, and I recognize
His face.
It's Jesus.
And He just takes me,
just pulls me up, and He puts me
in this strong embrace,
and I'm trying to breathe,
and He said, "Oh, Dwight --
my friend Dwight.
Wow.
You're here."
This is what I've lived for.
And then -- Here's the point.
And then I hear a voice.
I look up to see where the voice
is coming from, and it's
somewhere over here
near the throne, but --
And the voice is smiling.
Have you noticed what when you
call people up on the phone,
sometimes you can tell they're
smiling even though you can't
see their faces?
There's something in a voice
that's smiling, and the voice
is smiling, and the voice says,
"Dwight, Dwight, Dwight.
It's so nice to see you.
Do you know what?
Ever since you were born,
this is why I have hung with you
day and night the entire
journey, just you and Me.
Welcome home, boy.
This is your home now."
Now, why do I tell you that --
this little bit of imagination
which you really can't do?
I tell you that to remind you
that there's not just two
persons in the Throne Room
of the Universe.
There's a third person,
and there's no law in humanity
that says in order for you to be
a real sentient being,
you have to have physical form
to be a being.
That's just our very puny
human thinking that says
you got to have something
to move -- moving lips
and all that.
You don't have to have that.
He said, "I'm a being,
and I have love for you.
As if there were nobody else
in this universe, I love you,
and I want to be your friend."
That's why I'm telling you.
The Third Person of the Godhead
is just as real as number one
and number two -- same love,
eternal -- same friendship,
forever.
Why are you telling me all this,
Dwight?
I tell you why I'm telling this
to you.
Because I want you --
I want your heart to long,
begin to long for a friendship
with the Holy Spirit.
You and I have been --
We've been having a long,
continuing conversation going on
around here, haven't we?
I want you to become acquainted
and friends with
the Holy Spirit.
I'll tell you another little
secret about my praying.
I pray out loud.
[ Chuckles ]
I pray out loud unless
there's something I don't want
the Devil to hear, but,
generally, I just pray out loud.
There's nobody else in the room.
You know when I talk to Him,
here's what I do.
I imagine that He's right about
there in my prayer closet.
I have a certain place
where I imagine He is.
I see nothing.
I know nothing.
But I sense and I talk to Him.
Now, get this.
He talks back to me.
No, I'm serious.
He talks back to me.
It's not an audible voice.
Karen couldn't be walking
right by say, "Hey, there's
two people in there.
It's only Dwight.
Who's this other person?"
There's nothing anybody can
hear, but you know what?
You hear Him, and you know
the very sound of His voice
right now.
You know when He is talking
to you.
You recognize that voice.
And one day when you have
your private audience
with the eternal -- because
there'll be enough time
in heaven for everybody to have
a very special, alone time
with God, and all three of them,
the Trinity, they're there.
The moment the voice speaks,
[Scoffs] "That was you?"
"That was Me."
That's why I wish that your
heart would just long for this
baptism of the Holy Spirit.
We're not just doing this
because there's nothing else
to talk about.
Because this is the piece
that's missing.
We've got to know Him not as
an it, but as a real, live
personal friend...
every morning.
Every morning?
Yeah, why not?
Ask Him every morning.
Is there some sin with that?
Hardly.
In fact, R.A. Torrey beautifully
expresses the companionship
of the Holy Spirit.
This is so choice.
The whole Study Guide is worth
just this right here.
It's one very long sentence.
I'm going to put it on
the screen for you.
We have to keep changing slides
to get through this sentence,
but you have it in your
Study Guide.
"But" -- Torrey writing --
"But had it not been for
the love of the Holy Spirit
to me" --
Okay, so he says, "Look.
I know I got the love of
the Father, I know I have
the love of the Son, but had it
not been for the love of
the Holy Spirit to me,
leading Him to come down
to this world in obedience
to the Father and the Son,
to seek me out in my lost
condition, following me day
after day, and week after week,
and month after month,
following me when I would not
listen to Him,
when I deliberately turned
my back upon Him,
when I insulted Him,
following me into places
where it must have been agony
for that Holy One to go --"
Dwight, you're going here?
You're going here?
Okay.
I'm with you.
..."following me into places
where it must have been agony
for that Holy One to go,
until at last He succeeded
in bringing me to my senses
and bringing me to realize
my utterly lost condition,
and revealing the Lord Jesus
to me as just the Savior
whom I needed, and He induced me
and He enabled me to receive
the Lord Jesus as my Savior
and Lord;
if it had not been for this
patient, long-suffering,
never-wearying love
of the Spirit of God to me,
I would be a lost man today."
That's the truth.
You and I would not be having
this conversation because
neither one of us would be here
had it not been for
the Third Person of the Godhead
who has stayed with you every
single day and every single
minute and every single second
of your life.
He has never, ever left you.
And you're here because of it.
And we act as if He doesn't
exist.
What's up with that?
Wow.
Torrey's right.
Absolutely right.
To the Holy Spirit, we owe
everything just as we do
to the Father and just as we do
to the Son.
I'm telling you the truth,
ladies and gentlemen,
brothers and sisters.
The King of Hearts is
the King of Love forever
and ever.
Amen.
He's the King of Hearts.
He's the King of Love.
All three.
It's no wonder that in
the middle of this stunning
portrayal of Trinity love,
Paul just slips it in --
Very clever, Paul.
He just slips it in.
He said, "I want to talk
about your loving now."
Watch this.
Go to Chapter 13.
He just slips this in,
but we catch it.
We see it.
Romans 13.
Just turn back a page from 15,
and what's this?
Verse 8.
Paul writes...
Whoa.
What law you talking about,
Paul?
Why, Verse 9...
..."and whatever other
commandment there may be,
they're all summed up in this
one command: 'Love your'" --
whom?
Love your whom?
Call it out to me.
Love your whom?
>> Your neighbor.
>> "Love your neighbor.
Love your neighbor as yourself."
And finally, Verse 10...
"Love does no harm
to a neighbor."
No.
"Therefore love is
the fulfillment of the law."
I'm going to tell you about
a book that's taking
the scholarly world by storm.
It's a new translation
of the New Testament.
It's written by David Hartley --
David Hart --
No, David Bentley Hart.
Got it.
"A New Testament."
Critically acclaimed.
I wanted to get it
for Christmas.
Sold out, sold out.
It just came out in November.
Sold out, sold out, sold out.
And the reviews very critically
acclaimed.
I want you to see how
David Bentley Hart renders
this line -- Romans 13:10.
In fact, jot it down in your
Study Guide so you'll always
have his rendition.
I like this.
Romans 13:10 from
"The New Testament" translated
by David Bentley Hart.
Here it goes.
"Love does not work evil
against the neighbor --"
Now, here it comes -- "hence
love is the full totality
of the Law."
Now, that's a new way and that's
a fresh way to put it --
"the full totality of the Law."
That's what love is.
Oh, by the way, love is the full
totality of the Trinity.
That's who They are.
That's why the Law is just
like Them, because it's Their
Law.
"Love is the full totality
of the Law," the full totality
of the Trinity.
So here's the question.
What if we --
I'm talking about you and me
now.
What if we asked the Holy Spirit
to pour out Trinity Love
into our hearts every day
before we go out into the world?
Every day, just fill me with
the love of the Father.
Fill me with the love
of the Spirit --
love of the Son, rather.
Fill me with Your love,
Holy Spirit.
What if we asked the Holy Spirit
specifically,
fill me with the full totality
of Your love, Your grace.
Fill me --
before going out every day?
Well, I'd be willing to do that,
Dwight.
Well, I'm telling you,
that's all the baptism
of the Holy Spirit is.
That's what it is.
Just fill me up.
Empty me through the day
so that I have to come back
tomorrow morning, fill me up
again.
Fill me with the full totality
of Your love, Holy Spirit.
Wow.
What if, as a church, we became
known as a people who love
deeply, who love boldly,
who love radically around here?
We, who are so vigorously
defending
the Fourth Commandment,
what if we decided to defend
all Ten of the Commandments,
and the full totality of
the Law gets lived out
in the way we treat our
neighbors?
What if that were the case?
Fill me with the full totality
of the Law.
Fill me with Your love, Trinity.
I mean, what if people got to
know you and go to know me
because we're out there mingling
with them, and they start
to say, "I tell you what.
These people there on that
campus, man, they'll love your
socks off"?
Wouldn't it be a great --
Wouldn't that be a great line?
"Come to me, and I'll love
your socks off.
No, I'll come to you
and love your socks off.
I'll come to where your...
once was...
and I'll help scoop up
what has to be thrown away."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah.
No, no kidding.
No kidding.
Let me help you."
"Oh, I just want to go to
church.
I just love sitting in these
very soft pews.
That's all I need."
No, no, no, no.
The full totality of the Law
is the love of the Trinity.
What if -- What if we were just
plain a-loving people every day?
No crisis necessary.
We're just plain a-loving people
all over this county?
Loving people in a genuine
"I care for you" sort of way?
Would it make a difference?
"Would it make a difference?"
Are you asking me that?
Ellen White 100 years ago --
put the words on the screen.
You'll have to fill it in.
Amazing sentence.
"If we would humble ourselves
before God, and be kind
and courteous and tenderhearted
and pitiful" -- In other words,
full of pity -- "there would be
100 conversions to the truth
where now there is only one."
Go figure.
A hundred to one.
Some kind of hyperbole?
Are you kidding?
You know why I know it's not
hyperbole?
Because when people can feel
the love...
then they seek the truth.
If they can't feel the love --
I'm telling you what.
If you show up and say,
"I'm loving you right now, sir.
Come on. Come here.
Let me love you.
I'm just loving you real hard,"
but they can't feel it --
reminds me of Mark Twain.
Mark Twain used to write
about people who are good
in the worst sense of the word.
Oh, they're so right.
They're always so right.
Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.
I just don't want to live
next door to them.
Good in the worst sense
of the word.
No, you got to feel the love,
because if I can't feel
the love, I'm not going to
believe whatever it is
you believe, because it
obviously has not changed
the way you live.
Can you feel the love?
Do they feel the love
when I come around?
It's like the little English
girl prayed, "Oh, God, make
the bad people good, and make
the good people nice."
Can they feel the love?
Can they feel the love?
A lot of people around here
are praying for God to send down
the Holy Spirit and give us
a big, old revival that can make
the cover of Adventist Review,
and then, boom, we'll go
to heaven.
Wrong.
There will be no revival...
unless there's love.
And there is no love
unless they can feel the love
when you're around, because
if they can't feel the love
when you're around, it ain't
love.
Excuse me.
I got an e-mail from a viewer
who said, "Quit using that kind
of language.
It's bad grammar."
Okay.
It is not love.
If they can't feel it,
trust me, you may think
it's love, they're saying,
"It's not love."
That's not love.
That's duty.
Can they feel the love
when I walk into a room?
Can they feel the love
when you stop to gas up
your car?
Can they feel the love...
at Walmart?
If they can't feel the love,
why would they want to know
the truth?
You can have your truth.
It doesn't mean a hill of beans
the way you live.
I want to end with a story,
because this story tells it all.
I'm hoping -- I'm putting
everything in the sermon
on this story.
You know, preachers ought to be
very careful about doing that,
but I'm putting everything
in the sermon now on this story
I'm going to read in your
presence, and I'm praying
you're going to get it.
I'm praying that while you're
hearing the story -- and you're
going to love the story --
that your mind is just going
like this -- the Holy Spirit
is in your mind saying,
"Hey, by the way, that's not
just a story, that's why I'm
talking to you, boy, I'm talking
to you, girl.
I need you to live this way.
I need you to live this way,
okay?"
I'm going to read a story.
It's from Bob Goff's wonderful
book -- Do I see my friends
there?
Bob Goff's wonderful book
"Love Does."
Karen and I have laughed
and cried our way as we read
the book out loud to each other.
It's a wonderful book --
Bob Goff.
Friends Dave and Kim Sherman
gave us a copy.
[ Scoffs ]
Oh, you got to get a copy.
Anyway, okay, here's the story.
Here's the story.
So this is a first-person
account.
He's a lawyer, by the way.
Don't let that prejudice you.
"When I was in high school,
I met a guy named Randy."
I love this.
"And Randy had three things
I didn't have --
a Triumph motorcycle, a beard,
and a girlfriend.
It just didn't seem fair.
I mean, I wanted all three
in ascending order.
[ Chuckling ] I asked around
and found out Randy didn't even
go to that high school.
He just hung around there.
I had heard about guys like that
and figured I should keep
my distance, so I did.
Later I heard that Randy
was a Christian and worked
at an outfit called Young Life.
I didn't know much about any
of that stuff, but it helped
explain the beard and made it
okay that he was hanging out
at the high school, I guess.
Randy never offered me a ride
on his motorcycle, but he tried
to engage me in discussions
of Jesus.
I kept him at arm's length,
but that didn't seem to chill
his interest in finding out
who I was and what I was about.
I figured out maybe he didn't
know anyone his own age,
so we eventually became friends.
I was a lousy student and found
out that I could take a test
to get a certificate that was
the equivalent to
a high school diploma.
I couldn't figure out how to
sign up for the test, though,
which on reflection was a pretty
good indicator that I should
stay in high school.
My plan was to move to Yosemite
and spend my days climbing
the massive granite cliffs.
At 6'4" and 220 pounds
as a high schooler,
I really didn't have
a rock climber's build.
I wonder what made me think
that there was a rock climber
in me?
You know, when you're in
high school, you don't give much
thought to what you can't do.
For most people, that gets
learned later, and for still
fewer, it gets unlearned
for the rest of life.
At the beginning of my
junior year, I decided it was
time to leave high school
and make the move.
I'm going to go to Yosemite.
I had a down vest,
two red bandanas, a pair
of rock-climbing shoes, $75,
and a VW Bug."
I had one of those in college
myself.
"But what else did I need?
I'd find work in the valley.
I'd spend my time off
in the mountains.
More out of courtesy
than anything" --
Now, listen up --
"I swung by Randy's house
first thing on a Sunday morning
to say goodbye to let him know
I was leaving.
I knocked on the door,
and after a long couple
of minutes, Randy answered.
He was groggy and bed-headed."
You ever seen yourself
when you get out of bed --
what your head looks like?
He was looking like that.
"I had obviously woken him.
I gave him the rundown
on what I was doing.
All the while, Randy stood
patiently in the doorway,
trying his best to suppress
a puzzled expression.
'You -- You're leaving soon?,'
he asked when I had finished.
'Yeah, right now, actually,'
I said as I straightened my back
and barreled my chest to show
I meant business.
'Look, Randy.
It's time for me to get out
of here.
I just came by to thank you
for hanging out with me
and being a great friend.'
Randy kept his earnest and
concerned face, but he didn't
say a word.
'Oh, hey,' I inserted.
'Will you tell your girlfriend
goodbye for me, too -- you know,
when you see her next?'
Again, no words from Randy.
He had this weird, faraway look
on his face like he was looking
right through me.
He snapped back into our
conversation -- 'Hey, Bob.
Would you wait here for a second
while I check something out?'
'No sweat, Randy.'
I had nothing but time now.
What did I care?
Randy disappeared for a few
minutes into the house
while I stood awkwardly
on his porch with my hands
shoved in my pockets.
When he came back to the door,
he had a tattered backpack
hanging over his shoulder
by one frayed strap
and a sleeping bag under his
other arm.
He was focused and direct,
and all he said was this,
'Bob, I'm with you.'"
Hmm.
"Something in his words
rang right through me.
He didn't lecture me about how
I was blowing it and throwing
opportunities away by leaving
high school.
He didn't tell me I was a fool
and that my idea would fall off
the tracks on the way to
the launch pad.
He didn't tell me that I would
surely crater even if I did
briefly lift off.
He was resolute, unequivocal,
and had no agenda.
He was with me.
Despite the kind gesture,
it was pretty odd to think
he wanted to come along.
'Uh, um, s-sure.
I guess,' I said,
half-heartedly.
'You sure?'
'Yeah, Bob. I'm in.
If you wouldn't mind,
what if I caught a ride
with you?'
Randy stood with a determined
look.
'So, let me get this straight.
You want to drive to Yosemite
with me right now?'
'Yep, that's right.
I can find my way back
after we've got there
and you have got settled in.'
I'm not sure why I accepted
Randy's genuine self-invitation.
I guess it's because it
caught me totally off guard.
No one had ever expressed
an interest in me like that
before.
'Sure,' I stammered as we both
stood awkwardly on his stoop.
'I guess we should get going
then.'
And with that, Randy closed
the door to his little house,
and we walked side by side
to my VW Bug.
He plopped into the passenger
seat and threw his stuff
on the top of mine
on the back seat.
We got up to Yosemite before
nightfall, and it occurred to me
for the first time we had
no place to stay.
We had a couple of sleeping
bags, no tent, and very little
money, so we bedded down
in an empty campground.
The next morning, we woke up
to a chilly, but glorious
morning in Yosemite Valley.
To the north of us,
El Capitan soared 3,000 feet
straight up like a granite
soldier.
Half Dome dominated
the landscape to the east.
These were my companions now.
This was my cathedral.
I was in the valley living room
of my new home.
Now it was time to get a job
and settle in.
I rolled over in my sleeping
bag, thinking about how great
it was to have Randy with me.
I was a little nervous,
but also excited about
my newfound freedom.
I was a man now.
I felt my chin for any signs
of whiskers.
Nothing yet, but I shaved anyway
just in case.
Randy and I dusted off
the stiffness that comes
from tent camping, and we went
to Camp Curry Company Cafeteria.
I thought I could get a job
flipping pancakes in
the morning, which would then
leave the rest of the day
to climb.
I finished the job application
in front of the manager,
handed it to him.
He gave it right back,
sternly shaking his head 'no.'
He didn't even pretend to be
interested, but I was secretly
thankful he at least humored me
enough to let me apply.
No matter.
Undaunted, I went to one of
the rock-climbing outfitters
with a storefront in the valley.
I told them I'd do whatever
they needed.
I was sure that what I lacked
in experience, I could make up
for by what I lacked in maturity
or raw intelligence.
They said they didn't have any
work for me, either -- that
the jobs were tight and almost
impossible to get in the valley.
I walked out of the store
discouraged, and I looked at
Randy, who was leaning against
the VW.
Rather than feeding my
discouragement or saying,
'I told you so,' Randy fed
my soul with words of truth
and perspective.
'Bob, you can do this thing
if you want.
You have the stuff it takes
to pull it off.
These guys don't know what
they're missing.
Let's try a few more places.'
And then just like he had said
the day before on his porch,
Randy reiterated his statement.
'Either way, Bob, I'm with you.'
His words gave me tremendous
comfort.
I applied at nearly every
business in the valley
and struck out every time.
There certainly were no jobs
available and no hope
of one opening up soon.
Randy and I headed back
to the campsite.
We sat on the front bumper
of my VW Bug and leaned back
against its flimsy
and slightly rusted hood
that buckled slightly
under our weight.
The sun was getting low
in the valley again,
and the granite cliffs
I had hopped to count
as neighbors were casting long,
dark shadows on the ground,
each of the evening shadows
pointing toward the road
exiting the valley.
I had only a few bucks left
after buying gas, and Randy
offered to spring for dinner,
and as we walked back out
to the car after eating,
I turned to Randy, and I said,
'You know, Randy, you've been
great coming with me
and everything, but it looks
like I'm striking out.
I think what I'll do is head
back and finish up high school.'
After a short pause, Randy
said again what had become
a comfort to me throughout
the trip -- 'Man, whatever you
decide, just know that either
way, I'm with you, Bob.'
Randy had been with me,
and I could tell that he was
with me in spirit as much
as with me in his presence.
He was committed to me.
He believed in me.
I wasn't a project.
I was his friend.
I wondered if maybe all
Christians operated this way.
I didn't think so, because
most of them I had met until
that time were kind of wimpy
and seemed to have more opinions
about what or who they were
against than who they were for.
Without much more discussion,
Randy and I exchanged
a silent look and a nod,
which meant we were done.
Without a word, I hopped in
the driver's seat of the car,
Randy hopped in the passenger's
seat, and we followed the path
cast by the long shadows
the day before.
I was going back.
We did not --"
Now, listen to this.
Here it comes.
"We did not talk much as we left
Yosemite Valley, or for much
of the way home for that matter.
A dream of mine had just checked
into hospice.
Randy was sensitive enough
to know I needed some margin
to think.
We drove for five or six
quiet hours.
Every once in a while,
Randy would check in on me
in his confident,
upbeat voice --
'Hey, how you doing, Bob?'
We pulled down some familiar
streets and into Randy's
driveway.
There was another car
in the drive next to Randy's
that looked like his
girlfriend's.
She visited often.
We walked up to the front door,
and he opened it, and I walked
in behind Randy uninvited,
but somehow I still felt
welcome.
On the floor, I noticed a stack
of plates and some wrapping
paper, a coffee maker,
some glasses.
On the couch, there was
a microwave half in a box.
I didn't understand at first.
I mean, had Randy just had
a birthday, or was it his
girlfriend's?
I mean, a microwave seemed
like a weird way to celebrate
someone's arrival into
the world.
I knew Randy wasn't moving
because there wouldn't be
wrapping paper.
Then from around the corner,
the other half of this couple
bounded out and threw her arms
around Randy.
'Welcome home, honey!'
Then the nickel dropped.
I felt both sick and choked up
in an instant.
I realized that these are
wedding presents on the floor.
Randy and his girlfriend
had just gotten married
when I knocked on Randy's door
that Sunday morning.
But Randy didn't see just
a high school kid who had
disrupted the beginning
of his marriage.
He saw a kid who was about
to jump the tracks.
Instead of spending the early
days of his marriage
with his bride, he spent it
with me, sneaking into
the back of a tent.
Why?
It was because Randy loved me.
That's why.
He saw the need, and he did
something about it.
He didn't just say he was
for me or with me,
he was actually present
with me.
What I learned from Randy
changed my view permanently
about what it meant to have
a friendship with Jesus.
I learned that faith isn't
about knowing all the right
stuff or all about obeying
a list of rules.
It's something more --
something more costly
because it involves being
present and making a sacrifice.
Perhaps that's why Jesus
is sometimes called Emmanuel,
God with us.
I think that's what God had
in mind -- for Jesus to be
present, to be just with us.
It's also what He had in mind
for us when it comes to other
people."

This is his last...
"It's a love that operates
more like a sign language
than being spoken outright."
Oh, I like that.
"It operates like a sign
language.
What I learned from Randy
about the brand of love
Jesus offers is that it's more
about presence" --
Write that in, will you?
"It's more about presence
than undertaking a project"...
"What I learned from Randy
reinforced the simple truth
that continues to weave itself
into the tapestry of every
great story" -- Write it down --
"Love does."
Isn't that good?
It's precisely what Calvary did
when God poured out His Trinity
love on a race of runaway rebels
like you and me.
Love does.
It's what we do.
When every morning we ask
the Holy Spirit, fill me with
Trinity love today, and then
we go out and do.
We don't just go out,
we go out and do
because love does.
Love does.
The question is,
can you feel the love?
No, no, no, no, no.
That's not the right question.
Can they feel the love?
Can they?
Can you?

VIDEO EDITORIAL: Can we forgive our way out of this mess? - Duration: 2:58.
The aftermath of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., has
been rife with copycats and false alarms.
The FBI and local authorities flubbed multiple chances to stop the murderer there, but other
communities are making sure that new threats are not swept under the rug.
On Monday, Rochester police officers apprehended a man who was pointing a gun at his head and
claimed to have left bombs at Century High School and two area churches.
On Friday, two 15-year-old girls were arrested for making threats against Austin
High School.
Similar incidents have played out in Woodbury, St. Francis, and Aitkin County.
The Orono Public Schools were locked down after a student was arrested for making threats
against the district, including one direct threat of gun violence.
The maker of that threat was arrested, and how the community has reacted might give us
all something to ponder.
When community members learned the offender's identity — a special needs student who's
on the austism spectrum — a GoFundMe page was started to help cover legal and medical
fees for the student's family.
The page has already raised over $30,000.
Orono's support for the family could be the kind of attitude adjustment
we, as citizens, need to adopt.
Raising money for the family of a kid who shut down the school with a gun threat may
seem counterintuitive, but what's a better way to draw them back into society's embrace
than by showing them there's love, understanding, and support there?
On either side of the "stop school shootings" debate going on right now, there seems to
be general agreement that American society has gone haywire.
Even if stricter gun laws, heightened school security and improved mental health services
help prevent some future tragedies, the "why" of this whole problem still needs to be addressed.
Some observers, such as Michael Ian Black in a recent New York Times op-ed, have suggested
that "boys are broken" because of the shifting definitions of masculinity in our
culture.
The endless spree of mass shootings could be the result of violent music and
television that our children grow up on.
Some say that our young people experience a greater alienation from others because of technology.
As usual, young people are leading the way to a solution.
Last week, students across the nation organized walk-outs to call attention to their need
for protection.
Inside schools, students are working on an array of anti-bullying and pro-inclusion activities,
such as the national "No One Eats Alone" day, which helps connect students who may
be isolated to friends during lunchtime.
Others advocate honoring the 17 Parkland victims by simply smiling at 17 strangers or doing
17 random acts of kindness.
These actions work to show their peers that someone's looking out for them.
That love exists.
Enough is enough.
Harboring anger in your heart will only continue the momentum of violence.
Make like our future: give love and forgiveness a try.
It won't take root immediately, but maybe one day a rising tide of forgiveness and understanding
will put an end to all this bloodshed.

Can Tiny Houses Save Detroit? - Duration: 5:53.
If you've never had the opportunity
to own a home,
this is a once in a lifetime
dream come true opportunity.
Detroit is building the country's first
tiny home community to help low income
residents become homeowners.
It was started by Reverend Faith Fowler,
who turned a personal loss into a gift
for her community.
- When my mom died,
if I inherited some things,
and it was really the first time in my life
I understood that if you're poor
when your parents die,
they can't leave you anything.
So I started looking for a way that we could
provide the safety net for really poor people,
who had an income but not enough to ever
climb the economic ladder that most of us do.
And tiny homes just fit the bill.
Many people are fixated on the fact that
they're so darn cute.
But for me it's that economic mobility
that we're able to offer folks,
and give them a chance to have the American dream.
- [Voiceover] Detroit has one of the highest
poverty rates in the country.
About 36%.
Here, homelessness is a major problem.
- In the city of Detroit,
there's anywhere from 15,000 to 20,000
homeless men, women, and children.
Detroit's 139,000 square miles.
It's a huge city.
We had 80,000 abandoned buildings.
Because of the auto industry,
people could get living wage jobs with decent benefits,
and have enough to buy a nice house.
But many of those jobs are now gone.
So this is Detroit too.
- [Voiceover] This is the Boston Edison
Historic District.
Many of its mansions were once home to auto magnates
during the city's hey day in the early 1900's.
- You can see a very great contrast to the
neighborhood we just drove through.
And so we have this gap,
tremendous gap.
I call Detroit the land of opportunity.
We have plenty of land and if we look at it
as an opportunity, then tremendous things
can be done in terms of housing.
- [Voiceover] Faith runs the non-profit,
Cass Community Social Services.
The agency is the force behind building this
tiny community.
When completed, it will be 25 tiny homes,
each uniquely designed.
- Seven houses are finished and occupied.
Five houses are under construction.
The first seven have just been wonderful.
I feel like we hit the lottery.
- [Voiceover] Many of the materials are donated.
And the construction involves an army of volunteers.
- [Faith] Some are schools,
some are churches,
some are corporate people,
and some are carpenters and electricians.
It's been very humbling.
- [Voiceover] Each home is between 250 and 400 square feet,
and costs $1 per square foot.
So a housing payment comes out to be $250 to
$400 a month.
How is this financially possible?
- We needed to eliminate the mortgage,
because our people can't afford a mortgage.
So we raised the money for the homes up front.
When they pay rent, they're actually not paying
for rent to own.
They're just paying rent so that we establish
a financial history for them.
We use that money to pay their taxes,
their water,
their insurance,
and their security system.
So if they pay that for seven years,
then we give them the house, the land,
the deed, and the bills.
- [Voiceover] The mission here is more than just
building shelter.
It's about helping people rebuild their lives.
Keith McElveen was one of the first residents
in the community.
Born and raised in Detroit,
he's making the most of his second chance.
- It was kinda hard growing up here.
I grew up in the state system.
It wasn't peaches and cream.
- [Voiceover] After losing his job as an
assistant manager at a blood bank,
Keith couldn't find work.
- I wound up selling drugs.
And wound up going to prison.
Seven years.
It was kinda rough.
But I endure.
- When he came out, his mother, father,
sister and brother were all dead.
So to go home, where do you go?
- Once I had got out,
I was just trying to survive.
And I didn't want to be homeless.
I came to Cass looking for a job.
- [Voiceover] Keith now works security at Cass.
But even when he's off the clock,
he's looking after the other residents
in the community.
- I'm part of this community.
I'm invested in a mission.
- [Voiceover] The tiny homes community
is directly tied to Cass' social services,
which provide programs for food,
healthcare,
and employment.
The objective is to help people improve their lives.
And to help build a support network,
residents of the tiny community commit to
eight hours of volunteer service every month.
Like Gladys, who works at the organization's
food pantry.
- I love taking care of people.
To me it's a community enrichment
because they help us, we help them.
- [Voiceover] Participating in Cass' services
helps build skills and community.
- They then become the role models for people
just coming in off the streets.
What a wonderful thing.
- [Voiceover] Since its launch,
the program has gained wide-spread interest.
Over 1,000 people have inquired about applying
for tiny homes.
And other places are seeing if the program
can be replicated.
- [Faith] We're consulting with other organizations
who are trying to do something similar in their area.
It is not the only solution.
Not everybody wants to live in a tiny home,
but it is certainly a great option for people who are,
to help them up the ladder of economic opportunity.

Why Habits Can Never Be Changed | Sheila Ram Mohan | Real Life Hacks | Lumiere 24 - Duration: 7:07.
Aristotle said, we what we repeatedly do Wise man he. who we are and what we a
accomplish in life is based on a series of routines and habits that we follow and
we've all had experiences where we try to break a bad habit with very little
success finally saying " Aah Shoot! This is who I am
just let me be" and that right here brings us to the focus of today's
episode learning how to install new empowering habits. Hi I'm Sheila and this
is Lumiere 24 light on. Do you know that habits are not just the physical
activities that we do or don't do like the can't start my day without the cup
of tea one or overeating or not exercising smoking complaining
. Habits
also include how we routinely feel and think. Feeling happy or unhappy, being
angry all the time, feeling successful or unsuccessful, feeling low, feeling
unmotivated.
now of course you want to keep your good habits. We will talk about those habits
which we want to change, which we are struggling to change and often feel
guilty about having. And in order to change a bad habit we have to go right
up to where the drama is happening: in your brain! Remember when you were first
learning to drive a car it seems so complex especially if you were using the
manual one ! 3 pedals, but only two feet, release the clutch slowly, and at the
same time , press the accelerator! Too fast, too slow, the car jerks forward, the car
stalls, change the gear, look down because you can't remember which gear the car is in
jerk against all again and of course the feelings: fear, confusion, embarrassment, a
million signals to the brain- thinking what do I do,
what next, what next, and then after a week of
driving suddenly it seems easier and now you probably don't even think about it
when you get into your car and drive away . It has become automatic and this is
exactly how a habit is formed, whether it's your physical habits or the
emotional ones you start them all by a lot of present moment thinking reminding
and working, Though it doesn't seem that now. Charles Duhigg, the author of the Power of Habits calls it chunking
when the brain converts a sequence of actions
into an automatic routine. You have to realize that all habits consist of a
simple but powerful 3-step loop first there is a cue for the habit - a trigger
which tells your brain to go into automatic mode and choose a habit a
routine which is what you do when you're triggered and the reward which helps the
brain remember whether this habit is worth it. As time goes by the cue and
reward is so intertwined that the habit becomes automatic. Let me give you an
example I have this habit of having a huge cup of tea at 11:30 a.m. and no
matter where I am this urge for tea is so strong that I even drive to the
nearest cafe and order my large cup of tea. The CUE here is the mid morning
slump, especially if I'm writing, and the reward is a recharge to my brain cells
now I just cannot decide to stop drinking the tea. That is a temporary
solution. So we have to play by the rules. So what are the rules? The cue and the
reward loop. The cue and the reward both are valid. I realized that drinking
something warm soothes me relaxes me and gives me a chance to
stretch my legs. So all I have to do here is replace the tea with warm lemon water
and check if it works;and it does! If you want to get rid of a bad habit you have
to find out how to implement a healthier routine to give you the same reward. Of
course it's not that simple. Forming new habits is just as hard. Just
because you're telling your brain that there's a reward doesn't mean that that
habit will stick. It only really sinks in when you train the brain to accept it
See I always say that it's like training a dog: Command. Reward.
Repeat.Command. Reward. Repeat. So if you're looking for a quick tool to get
rid of your habits here's what I have in my toolbox. Since this is how I trained my
beagle max I will call this the Max Intervention Process or MIP. So here's
how you do it first think of a habit you want to change and think of the habit
you want to replace it with. Let's say you want to replace not exercising with
exercising. Now you use the if-then process. Say, if I exercise then I will
reward myself with a smoothie. You will notice that two things are important
Focus on the behavior you want and two, incentivize the behavior you want. Didn't
I tell you I trained max this way? Positive reinforcement. So it's very
important that you have a list of rewards ready to offer your brain every
time you exercise and before you start out on that exercise visualize the joy
that that reward will bring. I allow myself to visualize the glow that comes
onto my face after my run; my heartburn free stomach that allows me to eat
whatever I want and these rewards get me out of the door every time.
Lasting change happens when the brain begins to crave the reward and that's
when it becomes automatic. It will take time, it will take effort, but you know
that the benefits will be worth it. And like I always tell you your environment
is stronger than your willpower. Surround yourself with people who are on the same
mission as yourself. If you want to run more often join the runners group. If you
want to meditate longer find the meditators group in your area.
I love the fact that you guys love these videos. It motivates me to find all the
topics that I can think will make a difference in your personal growth. So

Where can you meet a Russian dragon? (ENG/RUS subtitles) - Duration: 4:11.
Today I've decided to explore the Lipetsk region
and to test the "Kudykina gora" amusement park,
400 kilometers South of Moscow.
I was told that fairy tales come true right here.
So I guess this is it, huh?
Well, let's go have some fun!
We start our journey at the highest point
with the magnificent view of the park.
Located by the Don River, one of the largest in Russia,
the park has everything to keep you entertained in winter:
from horse-riding lessons to some really extreme sporting activities.
We'll test them all for you today.
So in order to understand how big the park is,
we've decided to use the traditional Russian sleighs.
Let's go!
Let's hop into a real-life fairy tale and explore the place.
We can take a look at the bogatyrs, Russian heroes,
who try to destroy dragons and evil.
Or we can visit "the city of Russian folk craftsmen,"
and participate in different festivals and interactive performances.
But when the hills are covered with snow,
it's time for winter activities.
There are different winter activities here like zorbing or tubing,
there is even an odd kind of transport literally called
winter banana, I have no idea why.
Though the name sounds mental in English,
the winter banana is tons of fun.
Besides the dragon there are plenty of real animals like horses,
alpacas, deer and even kangaroos and ostriches.
But they have one animal I know very well…
So I bet you imagine there are bears walking around the Russian cities,
but you are not right!
We have camels, and it's much more practical now.
You could start with the classics:
skiing or skating is a must during the winter time in Russia,
but if you want to try something really popular right now,
don't hesitate to hop on a snow tube, which Russians call a winter doughnut!
If you are a fan of a real extreme adventure,
you could challenge yourself by zorbing which is getting in a big ball
and making it roll down a snowy hill right up to the horrified park
visitors who are listening to you scream like crazy.
So Russian cosmonaut is ready for her mission to Mars
together with Tesla, I guess.
I really feel very, very dizzy at the moment, really!
If you go through all the challenges of this park, you'll have a surprise,
here is the host of this place: a three-headed dragon,
from a Russian fairytale, called Zmey Gorynich,
I was told that he is alive.

How can I heat mold my Chaya boots for the perfect fit - CHAYA SKATES TECH TALK | No.14 - Duration: 2:15.
How can I heat mold my Chaya boots so that they fit me perfectly?
So, this is a question I get asked a lot. We talk a lot about our heat molding
of our boots for very good reason: In my opinion, it is one of the best heat
molding boots on the market, you can genuinely get this skate to fit you like
a second skin. We already have a couple of heat molding videos that I'd
really like you to take a look at. Click up here somewhere, there should be
a link to our heat molding video, so check that out. But I have a couple more tips
for you. Often I get someone who has that boot, that fits them really well but
maybe that their longest toe is just slightly too long or our boot is
slightly too short, I don't know which one it would be. But everything else fits
perfectly, they can't go a bigger size because the boot would be too big.
What can we do? A top tip for you is to take the insole out of your skates!
Once you take that insole out, it´s gonna free up a bit of length in the
skate, basically because there's less stuff in your boot and often this can
solve the problem. Don't worry about not having your insole in there. It's not
gonna hurt, it actually feels kind of similar. We have an integrated footbed in
all our skates that is made of super comfortable EVA foam. So even though
your insole is out, it's not going to be uncomfortable but it could give you that
room that you need at the toe. Other than that there's more tips: we have another
video about direct heat molding, which I did live from roller con a couple of
years ago and that talks about spot molding, which is something else you can
try at the toe area and that should also be up here somewhere, hopefully.
OK, thanks guys! Any questions, pop it in the comments, let me know!

Closed or open mortgage: Which one is right for you? (so you can save money) - Duration: 4:13.

Hi everyone, welcome to another edition of Homebuyer's School.
Today I'm joined by Mutjaba Syed Manager Mobile Mortgage Specialist
with TD Canada Trust, and today the question we're gonna answer is,
What's the difference between open and closed mortgage rates?
So Mo, what is that difference?
Yeah, so it's a great question.
The difference the main difference between open mortgage and a
closed mortgage is that in open mortgage is there's not really a term attached to
it. You could actually leave that lender at any time without any penalties
incurred. A closed mortgage just means that technically you've signed a
contract with the bank to be there for a certain time period so if you
decided to go with a 5-year term you have to kind of stay with your 5-year
term and then decide after that if you want to stick with the same bank or kind
of go somewhere else, but with an open mortgage it's just--you can actually
move at any time without actually incurring any penalties.
So when should I pick an open versus a closed mortgage rate?
Yeah, so it's--mostly what I would recommend to my clients is that if
they're thinking of what's selling any time soon or leaving, or they're thinking
about moving out of the country or moving cities, an open mortgage is a very
good option at that time so you can get in for a very short time period and
actually get out without paying heavy penalties to get out. Once again it's a great
conversation to actually have with your lender at that time and let them know
about your future plans as well and that could help you determine what the best
rates are for you guys, if open makes more sense or close makes more sense.
Does an open or closed mortgage rate have anything to do with a fixed or
variable mortgage rate or completely simply separate things?
Yeah so there are actually--that's a great question, so we have an open fixed
mortgage rate and we also have open variable mortgage rates. They are--
predominantly it's going to be a little bit higher than the closed fixed
mortgage rates and closed variable rates, and the reason is because banks offer
discounts for clients--to attract clients when you're going with an open mortgage
rate, there's no loyalty, what banks technically finds so it's going to be a
little bit higher and technically in line with what all the banks are
offering, so it's not going to be a discounted rate at all you know, it will
be a little bit of a higher rate than the fixed, the closed fixed with a closed variable.
So in an open mortgage rate, say halfway through that term that you
signed, you can just switch to another bank?
Yeah absolutely, you could switch to a
different lender which you feel like has better rates for you, has better terms for
you. You can sell your home, you could do any of those things to actually get out of
that mortgage, without any penalties.
So why did the banks actually provide the
option of a open? Because wouldn't the banks want to you know, lock you into a
mortgage with that particular bank?
Yeah absolutely--
but I think at the end of the day what we want to do is we want to
actually give options to our clients, whatever it's going to be best fitted
for their needs. A lot of different life situations can happen where options are
a great thing to have. So for banks we want to be able to know
what's best for them.
So Mo do you have anything else to add in terms of
open and closed mortgage rates?
Yeah absolutely, I would just recommend
speaking with your specialist and bank or lender and see what's best for you, it
kind of fits in with your guys budgeting, with your plans
or future plans, and determine which kind of rates are going to be ideal
for your situation.
Perfect well thank you very much Mo.

that young blood
set it free
You've got it all
You lost your mind
in the sound
There's so much more
You can reclaim your
crown
You're in control
Rid of the monsters inside
your head
Put all your faults
to bed
You can be king
There's method in my
madness
There's no logic in your
sadness
You don't gain a single
thing from misery
Take it from me
You've got it all
You lost your mind
in the sound
There's so much more
You can reclaim your
crown
You're in control
Rid of the monsters inside
your head
Put all your faults
to bed
You can be king
You've got it all
You lost your mind
in the sound
There's so much more
You can reclaim your
crown
You're in control
Rid of the monsters inside
your head
Put all your faults
to bed
You can be king
AGAIN!!

Top 5 Marvel Superheroes who can actually defeat THANOS in seconds | Updated Possibilities - Duration: 6:23.
Welcome to my channel.
Today we will know about Top 5 Marvel superheroes who can actually defeat Thanos in seconds.
Whether you are a Marvel fan or not, you are aware of who Thanos is.
He is a threat to the entire Marvel cinematic Universe and nearly destroyed every possible
multiverse and dimension.
He should be feared by all.
Thanos is like a wreaking havoc facing Avengers in the upcoming Infinity war series.
This would be the best time for you to know about some powerful Marvel superhero characters,
who can actually defeat thanos in seconds .
Number 1.
Jeen grey / Phoenix force.
Jeen grey is an extremely powerful Marvel character and dangerous mutant from the X-Men.
Let's be clear, Jeen grey without the Phoenix force just can't match a single bit in defeating
thanos, but when combined with the Phoenix force, due to her rage and serenity, it's
whole other story.
In the comic books and also we have seen in the X-Men movie series, X-Men Apocalypse,
she had defeated the ruthless alien emperor.
She merged with the Phoenix force and defeated apocalypse or we say, destroyed him.
Phoenix force is one of the most powerful and Immortal entity in the entire MCU.
It can bend the universe and can make intergalactic flights and with these powers, she could erase
the entire time line.
Phoenix force has been rated the extreme level rating for Speed, strength and durability
and energy projection by the marvel wikia.
With these powers in Her hands she could defeat thanos single-handedly.
Number 4.
The Hulk: Zombie version /Winter Soldier version.
Tell me a name who don't know about the powerful and almighty Hulk.
Well you have seen Hulk beating puny God Loki like a cloth.
Even he competes to thor.
According to comic books, hulk has been numorously defeated by thanos.
But Hulk has maximum survivability and durability, that he could even take a nuclear attack.
As in the comic books, the Winter Soldier version of Hulk is almost undefeatable by
the Avengers, which was created by Hydra, through the Winter Soldier program.
He is one of the most powerful and almighty Marvel character, with whom he wants to avoid
conflicts with.
Hulk has a higher level of stamina and durability, marked by Marvel wikia.
When Hulk gets angrier & boosted with rage, his immense power could compete and destroy
Thanos.
Thanos has beaten Hulk many times but Thanos still has the rashness to say out loud that
he would rather not mess with Hulk.
Number 3.
Odin.
He is the almighty father of Asgard and a god to all the nine realms of the universe.
Slept more than thousands years, that alone makes him so powerful and immortal.
As one thing I should tell you about Asgardians, it is that they get stronger the more old
they get.
Thor also mentioned this, when the Avengers was fighting to Thanos in the comic book and
in the Avengers animated series.
Odin also possesses a Mystic and supernatural power known as Odin-force, the most powerful
Supernatural magic in the universe.
With his powers, other superheroes and villains are no matched to him.
According to the comic books, Odin has actually beaten Thanos once.
Thanos is a strong competitor to him but no matter how powerful he is with or without
infinity gauntlet, Odin can defeat thanos.
Odin powers are super mystical and are of Cosmic level.
If is there any way that Avengers could reborn Odin again, then Thanos would be in a situation
that he could be defeated.
Number 2.
Franklin Richards.
Franklin Richards, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, is basically a mutant beyond Omega
level.
He is the son of Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) and Susan Storm (The Invisible woman).
His abilities are beyond cosmic level.
He can do reality warping and can manipulate matter and energy.
He has also psionic abilities such as telekinesis, telepathy, astral projection and precognition.
He is immortal and even could create a pocket universe.
According to the comics, Once He has created a pocket universe of his own.
Even Professor X told that he is the most powerful mutant in the entire universe, when
he was in the cerebral chamber finding the mutants.
He can actually defeat Thanos with Infinity gauntlet, but only if he is adult.
Then there were no any problem in defeating Thanos with the powers that he held beyond
cosmos, he could easily defeat Thanos and colud erase the several galaxies.
Number 1.
The One above All.
His real identity is unknown.
He was introduced mystically in the comics.
He was created by Roberto Aguirre Sucasa and Clayton Crain.
He was first seen in the comic book "Sensational Spider-Man" volume 2 #40.
Responsible for all the existence of life in the multiverse, he is the sole superior
of the cosmic overseer known as the Living Tribunal.
He is more powerful than Living Tribunal and Beyonder.
In the comics, when Doctor Strange was facing the Living Tribunal, he mentioned the most
powerful celestial being, The One Above All, as the one who is god of all celestial entities.
He is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient and is above cosmic powers and abstract entities.
Thanos is barely a no match for him.
He could defeat Thanos in a matter of seconds.
Thanos would not even stand a chance against him.
So these are the Top 5 Marvel superheroes who can actually defeat Thanos.
The current version of Thanos using Infinity gauntlet, Spiderman, Deadpool, Captain Marvel,
Thor won't stand a chance against him.
