It's me, Alex, and everyone's favourite bird...
Archie.
Everyone asks me on Instagram "how do you take a good photo??"
I get asked this every day, 10, 20 times in my DM's, people are like "how are you taking
these pictures???
How???"
Like it's some sort of witchcraft.
It's not guys, I mean, yes I do have a fancy camera but I don't take all my photos with
a fancy camera.
I take a lot of my photos with my mobile phone (((what are you dooie ooie???)))
"What are you dooie ooie" says Archie...
I use my phone for a lot of my photos, and today i'm just going to show you some quick
and easy tips on how to take an Instagram photo from drab to fab.
Making this video has made me realise that I am in desparate need of a vlogging camera,
because it is very very very difficult holding up 5 kilos on a little tiny stick.
It is very hard and very heavy and i'm quaking.. and shaking... and I hate it.
I must apologise in advance for the state of my bedroom, it is an absolute pigsty.
I might be cute and kawaii on camera but in real life I live like a derelict, and I never
clean.
Ever.
So I tried to polish things up as quickly as I could before filming.
This is in no way at all a wardrobe tour, it's just a very quick me gathering cute things
to take photos with, so don't get your hopes up because you're not going to see too much
because it's way too messy and i'm sorry.

I'm just going to gather some ingredients for a beautiful photo.
Now i'm sure that a lot of you that are watching this probably have a few pink things laying
around.
Maybe you don't have much, but i'm sure you have something, right?
Maybe you've got some cute pink makeup or..
I don't know, pink clothes.
Anything!

These are Alex's top 10 tips on how to take a beautiful photo for Instagram.
I have my mess of a makeup desk here and i'm just going to pick out a couple of key ingredients.
So the first thing that we're going to use to take pictures....

When ever I do my flat lays, I try to have a nice assortment of things that people can
look at and admire from a distance, so i'm going to use makeup, I think I might do a
phone case, I might do a cute purse, i'm doing the Pusheen mugs..
Um..
I feel like a key to a good photo is to create a lot of interest, you know, create some cute
little exciting things.
Not just makeup, I mean yes, you can do just makeup in a picture but I like to do things
that everyone will find interesting.
Maybe not everyone is interested in makeup, but everyone is interested in Pusheen, am
I right?
I've got my little drawer.. oh don't look!

Now, alright guys, i'm going to give you three seconds to work out what the common factor
is in all of these things that i'm gathering.
Ok, just take a look.
Actually, you don't meet the common factor so you're going.
That might be a good hint.
What is the common factor?
It's the colour palette!
That's right, i'm going with pink, blue, purple and white.
That is my colour palette for this particular photo and I highly highly recommend that when
ever you take a photo for Instagram, you stick to a colour palette.
Choose your theme and stick with it - none of this nonsense with different colours here
and there (unless your theme is rainbow, in which case that is perfectly fine.)
That's all of our things, so we're going to gather it up and then i'm going to show you
a backdrop to use.
Alright guys, I am notorious for collecting blankets and the reason that I do that is
because I can buy blankets in many many different pastel shades and I use them as backdrops.
None of this fancy pants photographic backdrop nonsense.
Blankets are fine!
Fuzzy blankets, fluffy blankets, woven blankets, scratchy blankets, I don't care what sort
of blanket.
If it is a blanket with a cute colour, buy it!
Some of these I bought from Target, some of them are from the baby section in Target,
really the paler the better.
If it's pale blue, pale pink, pale yellow, I don't care.
Just buy a bunch of them and use them as backdrops.
I have a white fluffy blanket - i'm just going to shoot on my bed because I have a window
there and a bed here so there's a lot of nice light.
Yes, that's right friends, (((peekaboo!!!)))
You need good lighting to take a photo.
It doesn't matter what sort of camera you use, whether you're using an iPhone X or you're
using your ex boyfriends cracked iPhone 5 (yes, that's right, I live with my ex boyfriend,
deal with it).
Or you're using an iPhone 7, or you're using an android, it doesn't matter.
You can use a phone and take a good photo, as long as you have good light.
We're going to arrange all of our cute little things.
We're going to get our three purses, and lay them like that.
That's totally fine.
I don't even need to do anything else to that.
That looks nice.
Let's get this.. and we're going to put that.. there for now.

lip balms..
Now, here's a pro tip for you guys.
Always shoot in uneven numbers!
I have 4 EOS lip balms here and i'm only going to use three, because 3 photographs a lot
nicer than 4, did you know?
One, two and that one, because that one isn't quite the right blue.
I'm going to put one two three.
Blushes!
Now remember what I said, photograph in uneven numbers.
I only have two blushes there, so instead of using three blushes (which is overkill)
i'm just going to use one.
So let's go with that one.
That's fine.
And then we'll use our blending brush, blending... boop... what ever you call that.

You don't need to use exactly the same sort of things, just along the same line, you know..

I'm going to use a very old iPhone 5 with a cracked screen, which belongs to my ex boyfriend
Sam who Daniel and I live with, but that's a story for another day.
So we're going to use this old piece of crap and we're going to take a photo of all of
this stuff!
So i'm just going to get a laptop and set it up with screen recording, so you can see
what i'm doing.

I'm just going to spin it around and I might bring it in a little bit tighter.

There's only a few things I ever touch when I edit my photos.
You don't need fancy editing software, you don't necessarily need Photoshop or Lightroom
or anything like that, or VSCO cam or what ever other stupid apps that people tell you
to use.
Just use the Instagram editor, that is honestly all you need.
So all i'm going to do is Brightness, i'm just going to put it up.
Wow, look at that!
Done.
Then, contrast.
I'm going to bring down the contrast just a little bit, to make it more pastel.
I'm going Warmth, and to me when I look at the photo, it looks a little bit yellow.
Do you get that?
Like, it is a white blanket, but the blanket looks more on the yellow side than the white
side, and that is probably because of the lighting.
So i'm going to bring the warmth down a bit, done.
Skip past all of this....
Highlights!
Now I always tend to bring the highlights down a little bit, and you watch what that
does.
See the blue container?
The face powder container.
If I bring down the highlights, the detail comes back in to it.
So i'll bring the highlights down to about that point.
Now, don't use the exact same numbers as me.
See how that's on 63?
You don't have to use 63, just judge it from what you're looking at.
Judge it off your eye, and if your eye is telling you it's a little bit too dark, just
hit done and go back to the brightness and bring the brightness up again.
Because you brought the highlights down, everything else should become a bit brighter in the darker
spaces, and then in the lighter spaces it won't blow out too much.
Then, something that I always do is sharpen, and then i'll do Shadows.
I'm going to bring them up a little bit.
Wow.
Look at that.
Look at the difference that makes.
Now, I feel like it's very hard to see on this stupid screen because Sam dropped this
thing a thousand times, but I can tell...
I feel like it's lacking a little bit of punch, so I might bring that contrast up just a little
bit again.
Actually, I might go back to neutral contrast.
Yeah.
Done.

instead of just phones.
I can show you all my tips and tricks on how to take a really good photo on your DSLR.

if you can, try to get a good mix of different items, try to stick to a colour scheme.
Always remember to sharpen your image.

New VERO App Could Be End For Instagram & Twitter - Duration: 6:33.
A new app is being called the Instagram, Facebook and YouTuber killer all rolled into one.
My name is Danny Burke, Im here all this week on Landon Production - giving you the news
you need to hear while him and Courtney are away.
Alright then - for years now, there have been 3 big social media sites - Instagram, Facebook
and Twitter.
Of course weve seen more niche things like Snapchat but generally speaking, those are
the big 3.
Well, it seems people may need to make room for a brand new social media app that appears
to be taking the world by storm - Vero.
Theyve taken aspects of other social media sites such as picture, video and link sharing
and turned it into a sort of one stop shop that combines everything.
Other companies have tried this before but there are a few things that are getting people
quite excited about Vero.
Firstly, there are no adverts - something that many people thought had become necessary
to run a social media site these days.
They also don't use algorithms to decide what to show you.
Everything you see is in the right order - in their own words, Vevo says -We don't curate
it, manipulate it, insert advertising in it, or hold back posts- … all of this means
there has been so much a RUSH to join the site, people have actually experienced technical
difficulties.
If this sounds like something you want then youd better hurry as the first million sign
ups are free but theyre moving to a subscription based service after that.
Next up at have a shocking story from the UK this week of a 5 year old girl who died
after her Doctor refused to see her because she was a few minutes late.
Ellie-May died in 2015 and an inquest has found that Dr Joanne Rowe, quote -missed the
opportunity to provide life saving treatment- to the child.
The girl died from bronchial asthma just hours after her visit to the clinic.
They said they maintain a strict 10 minute rule when it comes to being late but Ellie-Mays
mother insists they were no more than 5 minutes late.
She said she had to wait for a receptionist to finish a phone call and for other patients
to be checked in which caused them to miss the 10 minute deadline.
The coroner investigating this was not really interested too much in the back and forth
about whether it was 5 minutes, 10 minutes or later - they looked at how this was the
first time the rule had been imposed on an emergency appointment and without the doctor
even looking at the medical records.
This has sparked a lot of debate - some people say that this is a failure of the system and
some serious changes need to be made - what do you guys think of it?
And if you wanted to change the system to stop things like this happening, what would
you do?
Its only a few months now until World Cup 2018 kicks off in Russia and the latest news
about the worlds biggest event is that people will be allowed to bring cocaine, cannabis
and heroin to the games.
Of course, thats the headline that they grab you with but there are always more details.
Russia is part of a group of countries called the Eurasian Economic Union and they allows
for certain banned narcotic and psychotropic drugs to be brought into the country with
supporting medical documentation - that will apply to the millions of football fans who
will be entering the country this summer.
Some people have said this is actually a helpful, progressive step for people with conditions
that do rely on these drugs.
Others have questioned how Russian police will be able to enforce the ban while not
arresting innocent people with the correct documentation.
Barbra Streisand cloned her dog twice.
Theres a sentence I never thought Id say.
Barbra Streisand is an American singer whos career has spanned almost 60 years.
Shes done a lot of fantastic things but one of the strangest came recently when she told
Variety magazine all about how she cloned her dog not once but twice.
This happened in 2017 when her dog Samantha started to get ill.
Babra has cells taken from Smanthas mouth and stomach to be used for cloning her.
After she died in May last year, thats exactly what happened.
Barbra had two dogs new dogs who were genetic clones of Samantha - one called Miss Violet
and the other Miss Scarlet.
She also has a 3rd dog called Miss Fanny who is a distant cousin of Samanthas.
I cant believe the names Im reading out to be honest.
This whole thing is very strange and has got everyone asking a lot of questions.
How much does this cost?
Well estimated range from $50,000 to $100,000 dollars.
Barbra said -Im waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have Samanthas brown
eyes and seriousness- … does Barbra have more money than sense?
Will Miss Violet end up as serious as Samantha?
Hard hitting questions for you guys to think about.
Next up have you guys ever seen a front facing Simpson character?

Well take a look, theyre pretty weird.
People on Twitter started sharing screenshots from the TV show of single frames where characters
were facing forward - and its kind of terrifying.
The more people talked about how freaky it looked, the more pictures they found and so
the cycle of terror continued for hours on Twitter.
Tweets involved being saying -Good luck sleeping tonight- and also that the images evoked a
deep sense of existential dread.
Other people were more positive, even saying it was the best thing on the internet.
What do you guys think?
For me, its one of those things where Im like -oh yeah, of course they never face forward,
how did I never notice this?- … its a bit like how you guys will never see the back
of my head yknow?
How do you even know I have one?
And finally today we have an inspiring story coming from Thailand where a couple is being
praised for their strength and bravery in the face of cancer.
21 year old Pooh Chokchai Kaew suffers from life threatening eye cancer that has spread
across his face.
Doctors have said they have no way to treat this late stage cancer but both he and his
girlfriend are still hopeful he will beat it.
Her name is Atittaya Chumkeaw who has been very vocal of her love for him and her belief
in a happy ending.
Atittaya posted a picture of the couple on their anniversary, saying -Third anniversary,
love the same- … her touching post was shared all over the world after being posted to a
group called True Buddhism.
They said -This post is not to give false hope to cancer patients.
I admire the girl whos standing by her partner.
Fans say the love she gives to her boyfriend is the best thing she can offer.
It may even cause miracles to happen.- … the couple now have fans everywhere who admire
their bravery at a young age in the face of such a horrible affliction.
This is the kind of thing that can tear 30 year marriages apart so to see them so commited
has warmed the hearts of people everywhere.

I know some people have said this gives false hope but I think this is just an inspiring
story.

Instagram Star FIRED FROM JOB After Racist Tweets | What's Trending Now! - Duration: 6:42.
Girl with no job is literally a girl with no job. Welcome back to What's
Trending, I'm Candice Carrizales. Subscribe for more social media news
every day. You may have heard of the popular Instagram account Girl With No
Job, which has a whopping 2.8 million followers. It's a meme account.
It's run by Claudia Oshry Offer. She also has sisters. One of them named Jackie who
runs the popular account Jackie O Problems, which is also a meme account.
She has a sister Margo who runs a food Instagram, and they also have a sister
named Olivia who I don't know what she does. This story mostly covers Claudia
and her sister Jackie. On Wednesday all of their careers were put into jeopardy.
Their daily talk show The Morning Breath was canceled after The Daily Beast
revealed that their mom is Pamela Geller. No relation to Michelle Geller from the
vampire show. Geller is known for her conservative, extremist, conspiracy ridden,
and Islamophobic views and blog. To give you an example of who their mom is she
was banned from entering England. The British government said having her in
the country would not be conducive to the public good. That gives you any idea
at all. I don't know. The digital platform called Oath, which hosted The Morning
Breath, gave this statement: "The Morning Breath, an Oath social-media show, is
being canceled immediately and we have launched an internal investigation and
will take other appropriate steps based on the results of the investigation." So
it may come across as oh these girls are being fired because their mom? Nope. Wait
for it. It goes deeper. There's more to the story.
I'm gonna uncover so much for you. After the reveal of who their mom was, the
Internet did what the Internet does best. Digging up people's old tweets. So it
turned out Claudia and her sister Jackie had some pretty gross,
rude, racist tweets of their own. A lot of them directed at the president at the time,
Barack Obama. The Twitter account Taylor Lorenz tweeted this: "A few (since deleted)
tweets sent by Pamela Geller's viral Instagrams star daughters."
Claudia tweeted: "I can't help but feel like I'm funding terrorism when I take a
cab," amongst these other tweets. Her sister Jackie
tweeted in response to an article titled Obama is likely to visit Israel and
second term: "No thanks! There are enough unwanted Muslims there already." I'm sorry.
People are shocked that they lost their jobs from these tweets? And like anybody
who's been exposed for anything gross, they apologized.
Are they apologizing because they're actually sorry, or are they apologizing
because they got caught? I'll let you decide that one. That's up to you. So
Claudia uploaded this video to Instagram. I was a dumb kid. I was 16. I thought I
was being funny and, and cool on Twitter and it's not. I'm not racist. I can't
believe I even have to say that. If you give me the opportunity to show you who
I am and what I stand for I would be so grateful, but I understand that these
things take time and what I did was not okay and I'm, I'm so sorry.
And Jackie followed in her footsteps posting this statement to Instagram. "I
wanted to express my utmost sincere apologies for the indefensible comments
that I've said in the past. That is not a reflection of Who I am as a person today
and I'm truly sorry to everyone I've offended and let down. All I can do now
is reflect and learn from this experience by showing everyone the good
that is in my heart." So in the apology video that Claudia posted, and in the
apology that Jackie posted, they're both was basically saying like I was young
and dumb. So this begs the question do you think age is an excuse in these kind
of scenarios? And then there was another statement made by Claudia which said
this. "We want to be clear to our audience and fans that our political and cultural
beliefs are not anti-Muslim or anti- anyone. Our views are separate from our
mother's." Apologies aside, let's talk a little bit more about this whole
cover-up, because they have been covering up that this is their mom for many years.
So like last Thanksgiving one of the sisters posted this to Instagram. Seems
natural, normal, fine, whatever, they're on a balcony. But then simultaneously, their
mom Geller posted this photo. That's right, that's right. That's the same
balcony. And then when Claudia was getting married, the company
who was making the invitations for her wedding posted a picture of the
invitations and Claudia reposted the same photo to Instagram, but covered up
her real last name, Geller. Oh. Buffy's name is Sarah Michelle Geller. I
remember it finally. And then in this picture, side by side, we see the same
dining room. Very spooky, very creepy. So what are people on the Internet saying
about this crazy story that's pretty nuts. It's definitely a potluck. Some
people supporting them, some people not supporting them, some people being
neutral and I'm gonna share those with you.
Like this Fox contributor said this. "So, Daily Beast goes after young sisters
because of who their mother is. They get fired from their jobs, forced to
apologize for saying Obama handled ISIS poorly (he did) and are probably now on an
Al-Qaeda or ISIS hitless. Disgusting." Not gonna lie. That's an intense tweet. People
replied to that tweet with the racist tweets that the daughters did tweet
though because that tweet from that contributor kind of seemed like it was
glossing over that fact. Another Twitter user does not think the age is an excuse.
"When I was 16 I never felt the need to attack gays or defend racists." This
Twitter user said: "You don't need a psychology degree to understand that
young people are impressionable and when you're involuntarily raised in an
environment with extremist ideology, you will undoubtedly have some extremist
opinions (because that's what's been drilled into you). Allow for change."
John C took a light-hearted approach. "Remember kids,, the Internet is forever."
