Do We Deserve The Justice We Pray for... - Duration: 0:54.

I would submit to you, I mean, does our nation deserve the justice we pray for

if we continue to kill children for the inconvenience that they might bring to

our lives? Thousands a day, about 3,000 children a day in America, that we decide

are somehow not relevant enough, not important enough, not desired enough by

us to allow them the same gift that our mothers gave to us. So often we know

what's right, we know it intuitively despite what people in popular culture

might tell us we know what's right. And we know that the abortion industry is an

abomination to America. I pray for each and every one of you that you will have

the boldness, and the conviction, and the willingness to unapologetically stand

for what you know to be right.

Teenagers with a heart condition - How do you feel? - Duration: 10:41.

I'm Andrew, I'm 15.

I was 14 when I found out I had a heart condition.

I was just in my room

and the doctor just came in and told us.

Then it was an emergency surgery after that so,

it all happened quick and I was quite shocked,

but then obviously I can't change it

so I just had to get on with it.

I came into hospital for an open-heart surgery.

I felt scared, nervous,

and a bit unsure what was gonna happen to me.

You just get worries through your head.

Worrying about when it's gonna be

and how long you'll be down there for.

I did come into hospital for open-heart surgery,

twice.

When I came into hospital, I was really nervous about it all.

My biggest worry would have been like,

if I died or something getting it done.

My family said I didn't need to worry about it,

because I'm in good hands with all the doctors

and they're there to look after you.

The thing is, I wasn't really worried about the surgery,

because,

I suppose it's cause I didn't want to know.

I didn't really,

wasn't that bothered about it.

I didn't like the idea of the scar,

that was my main concern,

I was worried about the scar, very, very worried about it.

But people don't judge you based on your scars.

I don't think I've changed the way I feel about my scar,

I've just learned to accept it.

When you get the scars,

it's like, at first you don't like it,

because it's not like you.

But then you get used to it.

It's not always the nicest thing to talk about,

but when you like, make up all these funny stories,

it is easier.

That I was in a shark attack...

I think it's quite cool to have a scar, pretty good.

I think as a teenager, I was

I was quite laid back about my heart disorder and my pacemaker.

I've never had a negative reaction for my scars.

I was out on Saturday

and I wore an off-the-shoulder and it was completely out.

I would never worry about a boy seeing like all of me.

I think when young people are around

kind of 11,12,13

and the're transitioning from primary school to high school,

that can be a really difficult time

to have something that's different about you.

A lot of young people find it really difficult

to talk about their heart condition

and they find it difficult to let other people know,

because they worry about what other people will think

and they worry about the kinds of questions they might get.

So we spoke to Naomi

and Naomi found it quite hard

to let other people know about her heart condition.

So she opted not to be filmed on camera

and we used her voice instead.

To have friends,

they know I have a heart condition.

I can't run about that much,

I can't keep up with my friends.

Like having a heart condition,

it can be difficult sometimes.

Like there can be times

where you're thinking,

I might not be able to do certain things that other kids can do

and I don't want to be the one that looks

like I can't fit in with everybody else.

I've had three or four surgeries.

I can't go outside with my classmates because

I will go outside and sometimes when it's too cold,

I would turn blue because my circulation isn't that good.

It's been hard in school,

coping with tiredness,

they've cut my hours down.

Last year I had 58% attendance,

I was at school like,

I missed just about half of the school year.

I missed a lot of school because I was in hospital.

I walked into school

and the teachers looked at me like,

no you're going back home.

When I'm like worried,

my heart can get all tense and get painful.

You can get pains in your chest,

you can feel sick.

So like the best thing to do

is just like obviously calm yourself down,

because if you don't,

it's just gonna make everything a lot worse for yourself.

I will try to speak to someone,

I won't keep it in.

Because I used to keep in and and then it used to

impact on everything else

and I don't want to do that,

so I've learned that if I'm worried about anything

go get advice about it.

Instead of just sitting there.

If they want to know about my heart condition,

I tell them, but I never really talk about it.

I only told my closest friends that I had a heart condition,

but then like, as I got more confident,

I started to just tell people because I thought,

it's not like anything to worry about.

They were like

oh my god, that's so cool!

They like, everybody wanted to be my friend at that point.

Because they wanted to be the one who like,

knew the girl who had the heart operations and condition.

It's good to talk to people like,

tell them how you feel and stuff.

Because they can help you as well.

My friends know about it.

One of my friends, a few of my friends, did actually

come up and see me,

when I was quite ill,

so that really helped as well.

I gave all the people that were supporting me

quite hard time.

My mum especially,

it was quite hard for her and I didn't realise.

I didn't really deal with it,

I suppose I just kind of locked all my feelings away

and didn't bother.

I suppose that was the easiest way to deal with it for me.

I find it a lot easier to talk about it now because,

it's in the past, it's happened.

I think it affected my family in quite a big way but

myself I feel fine,

but I doubt mum and dad felt fine at the time.

As soon as I found out what I had I was googling it.

I quite like to know stuff about it.

My mum and dad were trying to prevent me from doing that,

cause it would probably make me scared,

but it didn't really make me any worried or anything.

In my sessions, I have had young people come in

where they've googled lots of different things

about heart conditions.

Often things aren't even related to them,

so it's really important that,

I think as health care professionals and adults around these young people

that we think about what they've been looking at

and what their understanding is of their condition.

So that we can correct them if some of their facts are a bit wrong,

or if they've just become really anxious about something

that might not even relate to them.

I've just been told things,

but I haven't really,

Googled it to be honest.

But I've heard a lot of things about it yeah.

My mom tells me what I need to know

and I'll leave it at that.

Don't need to dig any deeper.

My mum was coming to appointments with me,

until I was maybe about 24.

It was always nice to have her there

because she knew everything that happened when I was younger.

So it was easier for her to come

because she would kind of understand what they were saying.

And it's nice to have someone else there as well,

because sometimes,

there has been times where I've been a bit overwhelmed.

Every day at two o'clock I have to,

if I'm in school,

go down to the main office

and take medication and do my teeth.

It's like, if I get tooth decay,

then if I get anything

it could go down in my heart and then everything goes.

So part of our role as Liaison Nurses is to

provide information to the young people,

on the various topics that they might find difficult to discuss,

like tattoos, drugs, sex,

alcohol, piercings, pregnancy.

What we suggest might not always be what they want

to do or what they are going to do.

They will make their own decisions,

but with the right information,

hopefully they can make an informed decision.

So now that I'm coming up to 18,

drinking is gonna be on the cards,

because.

But it's knowing your balance.

I know that when I drink I will get palpitations

and I know that it's gonna thin my bloods.

I'm gonna have to be extra cautious.

The doctors suggest you not to have piercings or tattoos,

from my own point of view,

I've always wanted a tattoo and I wanted more piercings.

So I will speak to my doctor and see how much

of a risk that is and then take it from there.

When I was at the hospital for an appointment this year,

I said can I get my nose pierced and he said no.

And it was the day,

the day after was my birthday

and I just said I go and get my nose pierced.

I've done it, but I know, if it got infected that could be quite bad

because it could go in the blood.

So it's just about taking care of it really.

I've asked in the past if I'm allowed to get piercings

or tattoos, but they recommended me not to.

But I've got a feeling that I probably will do it eventually.

I go to the gym five, six times a week

and I have a personal trainer that I see twice a week,

like I say I really don't feel like it restricts me

I just think I could do anything,

that's the way I feel sometimes, like

yeah I could do that.

It didn't really change me,

I'm still the same person.

I don't know what I want to be when I grow up,

I'd quite like to work in medicine,

because of,

I went through it all in the past year but,

I'm not too sure.

I either want to be a nurse in the cardiac ward,

or a play therapist,

because I have known what it's been like

and so many people helped me.

I want to be able to help other people.

Yes and it's actually very fitting, I want to be a biochemist.

I make the stuff that can save lives.

And one day maybe find out more about myself.

How do we feel temperature? #Race2Space2018 - Saad Lahrichi - Duration: 3:02.

Hi, have you ever wondered how do we feel heat and cold?

Well, I did and I will answer you through this video.

By definition, temperature is caused by the agitation of the molecules that compose any

object.

The more the molecules are agitating, the higher the temperature is, the less the molecules

are agitating, the lower the temperature is.

However, there is a small misconception about temperature.

The sensations you and I grew up to think of as "hot" and "cold" are really more "fast

influx of heat" and "fast outflow of heat."

Let me explain this very easily.

Take this metal tray and this book.

They are both at the same temperature, but when I touch the tray, I feel colder than

when I touch the book.

The reality is that the tray was able to pull the heat from my hand way faster than the

book.

This is due to the material properties of both the metal and the book.

Metals are very good conductors of heat so they are able to pull it faster from our bodies

and that send the signal to our brains that the object is colder.

Why?

Because our feeling of ''cold" is our brains' interpretation of heat being pulled

from our bodies.

The paper however, is an insulator of heat; it will transfer that heat slower.

As a result, we will feel that the tray is colder than the book, even though they are

both at the same temperature.

Also, when we think that we feel something's temperature by touching, we're actually

feeling its impact on the skin.

That is, our skins are only capable of measuring their own temperature, which explains the

previous metal/book experience.

But how does this really happen?

Our fingertips contain an immense number of sensory receptors.

External circumstances, such as temperature prompt these receptors to produce electrical

signals that travel via a sensory nerve along the arm to the brain where they are processed,

compared to previous experiences and finally labeled.

Thermoreceptors detect temperature changes, some of them are activated by cold conditions

and others are activated by heat.

Warm receptors will turn up their signal rate when they feel warmth (or heat transfer into

the body).

Cooling (or heat transfer out of the body) results in a decreased signal rate.

Cold receptors, on the other hand, increase their firing rate during cooling and decrease

it during warming.

So in reality, you're feeling the heat transfer rate, not the actual temperature.

Something interesting happens when you expose your receptors to a specific sensation such

as cold for a long time.

For example, in winter, when people are first hit by a snowball, they feel its coldness,

but if their contact with snow lasts for a long time, they no longer feel the cold because

their cold receptors tire out and don't send the signals to the brain anymore.

We came to end of this video, I hope it answered your questions and corrected the misconception.

This was Saad Lahrichi, thanks for watching

How Do I Love People That Are Hard to Love? - Duration: 28:33.

ANNOUNCER: THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM IS PAID FOR BY

THE FRIENDS AND PARTNERS OF JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES.

GINGER: GOD TELLS US THAT WE ARE TO LOVE ALL PEOPLE, EXCEPT

OF COURSE THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST OBVIOUSLY TOO DIFFICULT

AND ARE PURPOSELY ANNOYING.

WELL, OKAY, HE DIDN'T REALLY SAY THAT LAST PART.

I ADDED THAT JUST FOR MY OWN WELL-BEING.

BUT TODAY, DON'T WORRY, WE HAVE ANSWERS.

JOYCE IS GOING TO HELP US TO LOVE THOSE DIFFICULT PEOPLE.

GINGER: AS WE WALK THROUGH EACH NEW DAY, WE ALL HAVE

QUESTIONS.

THEY'RE JUST PART OF LIFE.

BUT DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE ANSWERS FOR YOU?

GOD SAYS WHEN WE LOOK, WE'LL FIND HIM.

HE'S NOT TRYING TO HIDE ANYTHING.

SO, TOGETHER, WE ARE DISCOVERING LIFE'S EVERYDAY ANSWERS.

GINGER: HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT LIFE WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER IF

WE DIDN'T HAVE TO LOVE EVERYONE?

WELL, I THINK THAT IS WHAT IS BEHIND THIS QUESTION FROM

TWITTER.

IT'S REALLY AN INTERESTING QUESTION.

"DOESN'T PRAYING FOR OUR ENEMIES (THE UNLOVELY) TAKE TIME AWAY

FROM PRAYING FOR THE PEOPLE I LOVE (THE LOVELIES!)?"

WELL, THAT IS A REALLY INTERESTING WAY TO PUT THAT

QUESTION, AND THERE IS NO DENYING THAT GOD WANTS US

TO LOVE EVERYONE.

AND BY DOING SO, WE EXPERIENCE PERSONALLY A GREAT BENEFIT.

JOYCE EXPLAINS TODAY AS SHE ANSWERS THE QUESTION, "HOW DO

I LOVE PEOPLE WHO ARE HARD TO LOVE?"

JOYCE: THE THINGS THAT GOD TELLS US TO DO, EVERY SINGLE ONE

OF THEM ARE SOMETHING FOR OUR BENEFIT.

COME ON NOW.

EVERY SINGLE THING THAT GOD TELLS US TO DO, HE'S ONLY--HE'S

NOT TRYING TO MAKE IT HARD ON US.

HE'S NOT TRYING TO GIVE US IMPOSSIBLE THINGS TO DO.

WHICH MOST PEOPLE WOULD TELL YOU THAT ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS

THAT THEY EVER HAVE TO DO IS FORGIVE SOMEBODY WHO REALLY

HURT THEM REALLY BAD, AMEN?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND WE JUST THINK IT'S NOT FAIR, AND HOW COULD GOD ASK

US TO DO THAT, AND ON, AND ON, AND ON.

BUT IT'S REALLY--HE'S REALLY TRYING TO HELP US BY DOING THAT.

AND SO, SINCE WE HAVE ALL THESE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD AND WE'VE

ALREADY ESTABLISHED THAT THEY'RE NOT ALL GONNA BE NICE TO US,

AND THEN WE SEE THAT THERE'S A COMMAND THAT WE HAVE TO

LOVE THEM.

NOW, I WISH THAT THE BIBLE SAID, "LOVE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE

LOVABLE."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: BUT IT DOESN'T.

WE HAVE TO SOMEHOW LEARN HOW TO LOVE PEOPLE THAT ARE VERY

DIFFICULT TO LOVE.

SO, HOW MANY OF YOU ARE IN TONIGHT AND YOU WANNA GO ON

WITH THIS?

ALL RIGHT, SO.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: I HAVE DECIDED THAT I'M ACTUALLY REALLY GONNA MAKE

AN EFFORT TO DO WHAT JESUS SAID TO DO IN 1 CORINTHIANS 13:5,

AND THAT IS, "LOVE ALWAYS AND IS EVER READY TO BELIEVE THE BEST

OF EVERY PERSON."

OKAY, I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO DO THAT AGAIN.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: 'CAUSE I CAN TELL WHEN YOU GET IT AND WHEN YOU DON'T.

NOW, SEE, I CAN BELIEVE, WELL, YOU JUST DID THAT

ON PURPOSE, OR I CAN BELIEVE MAYBE YOU MUST BE HAVING

A BAD DAY.

I DOUBT YOU EVEN REALIZED HOW THAT SOUNDED.

I REALLY DON'T BELIEVE YOU MEANT TO HURT ME.

MAYBE SOMETHING'S GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE AND IT REALLY HAS

NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.

NOW, HERE AGAIN, I'M NOT SAYING THAT WE JUST LET PEOPLE ABUSE

US, AND THERE'S CERTAINLY A TIME TO CONFRONT PEOPLE, AND I'M

ALL OVER THAT.

YOU KNOW, I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH CONFRONTATION.

THAT IS NOT AN ISSUE FOR ME.

I CAN MAYBE USE A LITTLE BIT OF THE OTHER SIDE SOMETIMES.

BUT IT'S AMAZING HOW WE ARE RELIEVED FROM HAVING TO WASTE

A DAY BEING ANGRY AT SOMEBODY IF WE'LL JUST IMMEDIATELY SAY,

"LORD, HELP ME BELIEVE THE BEST."

THAT'S POINT NUMBER ONE.

HELP ME BELIEVE THE BEST.

NOW, A FEW OPENING SCRIPTURES.

MATTHEW 5:46-47 SAYS, "IF WE ONLY LOVE THOSE WHO LOVE US

BACK," THAT'S NOTHING.

IT SAYS, "EVEN THE GENTILES DO THAT."

THEY WERE THE UNBELIEVERS THEN, SO YOU KNOW, IT DOESN'T TAKE

THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR LIVES, WHICH WE HAVE

AS BELIEVERS.

WE DON'T NEED THAT POWER TO JUST LOVE PEOPLE THAT ARE NICE TO US.

OKAY, I GOT ONE PERSON OVER THERE THAT LIKES THIS.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: WE HAVE TO GET ALL THE "I CAN'T" THINKING OUT

OF OUR HEAD.

IT'S NOT "I CAN'T LOVE YOU."

IF JESUS TOLD ME TO LOVE YOU, THEN I CAN LOVE YOU.

I MAY NOT KNOW HOW TO DO IT YET, BUT I HAVE THE POWER AND YOU

HAVE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

TO DO EVERYTHING THAT GOD HAS COMMANDED YOU TO DO.

YOU CAN DO IT.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND FURTHERMORE, WE ARE HERE TO REPRESENT GOD.

THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON WHY HE LEFT US HERE.

IF GOD DIDN'T HAVE A PURPOSE FOR US HERE, AFTER WE'RE BORN AGAIN,

HE WOULD JUST BEAM US UP AND WE COULD MISS THE WHOLE MESS.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: BUT WE'RE HERE BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS THAT WE ARE GOD'S

PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES.

NOW, GET THIS.

THE AMPLIFIED SAYS, "HE IS MAKING HIS APPEAL TO THE WORLD

THROUGH US."

SO, PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO LOOK AT US AND SEE HOW GOD IS.

AND THAT'S SUPPOSED TO MAKE THEM THIRSTY, WE'RE SALT, AND IT'S

SUPPOSED TO PIERCE THE DARKNESS IN THEIR LIFE, WE ARE LIGHT.

AND SO, THE BIBLE SAYS IN MATTHEW THAT WHEN WE LOVE OUR

ENEMIES AND THOSE WHO ARE MEAN TO US AND ABUSIVE TO US, THAT WE

DO IT TO SHOW THAT WE ARE LIKE OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: NOW, HERE'S A GREAT SCRIPTURE.

IF YOU THINK THAT YOU CANNOT LOVE PEOPLE, "I JUST CANNOT LOVE

THEM THE WAY THEY ARE.

NO, I MEAN, I JUST CAN'T.

GOD, YOU GOTTA CHANGE THEM IF YOU WANT ME TO LOVE THEM."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: ONE MORE SCRIPTURE, THEN I'M GOING TO POINT TWO.

ROMANS 5:8, "BUT GOD SHOWS AND CLEARLY PROVES HIS

[OWN] LOVE FOR US BY THE FACT THAT WHILE WE WERE STILL

SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE GLAD THAT IT DOESN'T SAY,

"ONCE WE GOT OURSELVES ALL CLEANED UP"?

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

JOYCE: OH MY GOSH, THE THING THAT IS SO INVITING ABOUT JESUS

IS I CAN STAND HERE TONIGHT AND TELL PEOPLE, NO MATTER WHERE

YOU'RE AT IN LIFE, NO MATTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE, NO MATTER

HOW DEEP OF A PIT YOU'RE IN, GOD WILL TAKE YOU JUST THE WAY

YOU ARE.

HE LOVES YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: NOW, HE DOESN'T WANT US TO STAY THAT WAY.

GOD LOVES US TOO MUCH TO LET US STAY THAT WAY AND WE NEED

TO CHANGE.

AND YES, THERE ARE PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES THAT NEED TO CHANGE, BUT

SADLY, MANY OF THEM ARE NEVER GOING TO IF ALL WE DO IS BUILD

WALLS, AND SHUT THEM OUT, AND STAY ANGRY AT 'EM,

AND GET BITTER AND RESENTFUL.

YOU KNOW, WE TALK ABOUT SACRIFICE, AND SOME OF US JUST

NEED TO SACRIFICE A LITTLE BIT OF OUR PERSONAL COMFORT MAYBE

JUST TO BE AROUND SOMEBODY THAT MAYBE IS NOT ALL THAT EASY

TO BE AROUND WITH.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: I MEAN, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, I CAN GET PRETTY

ADDICTED TO MY CREATURE COMFORTS.

OKAY, SO NOW I GOT A QUESTION TO PUT OUT TO YOU, 'CAUSE I--YOU

KNOW, GOD'S ASKING ME THIS, SO I'LL JUST SHARE IT WITH YOU.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: ARE THE PEOPLE THAT YOU'RE HAVING A HARD TIME

LOVING, ARE THEY REALLY THAT BAD OR ARE YOU JUST MAYBE A LITTLE

TOO PICKY?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: IF WE WANNA LOVE PEOPLE THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO

LOVE, THE FIRST THING WE NEED TO DO IS PRAY FOR OURSELVES TO HAVE

A PROPER ATTITUDE BEFORE WE EVER BOTHER TO PRAY FOR THEM

TO CHANGE.

AND I'M SERIOUS.

I LEARNED A LONG TIME AGO, I DO NOT GO TO GOD AND PRAY FOR MY

HUSBAND TO CHANGE WITHOUT APPROACHING THE THRONE IN THIS

FASHION: "LORD, THIS THING IS REALLY HARD FOR ME,

AND OBVIOUSLY I WOULD LIKE YOU TO WORK IN DAVE'S LIFE.

HI, BABY."

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: HE USUALLY SITS DOWN THERE.

HE'S UP HERE TONIGHT 'CAUSE HE'S GOT A COUGH, AND IF HE STARTED

COUGHING HE WANTED TO ESCAPE QUICKLY.

HOWEVER, HE'S NOW CLOSER TO ME, SO IF I SAY MUCH, HE CAN COME UP

HERE AND TAKE THE MICROPHONE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: BUT FIRST, I WILL PRAY, "NOW, LORD, MAYBE I'M NOT

EVEN SEEING THIS RIGHT.

I MAY BE THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEM, AND SO FIRST

OF ALL, DEAL WITH ME."

DON'T EVER GO TO GOD IN PRAYER ABOUT SOMEBODY ELSE'S FAULTS IF

YOU DON'T GO WITH A HUMBLE ATTITUDE, AMEN?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: THAT'S JUST NOT A VERY SAFE THING TO DO, BECAUSE JUST

BECAUSE WE THINK WE KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH SOMEBODY DOESN'T MEAN

THAT WE DO, AMEN?

WHEW, THIS IS BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: PRAY THAT WE WILL SEE OUR OWN FAULTS, BECAUSE IF WE

DO, IT WILL MAKE IT MUCH EASIER TO BE PATIENT WITH

THE WEAKNESSES OF OTHERS.

BECAUSE WHEN WE SEE OUR OWN FAULTS, IT BRINGS A DEGREE

OF HUMILITY INTO OUR LIVES.

MATTHEW 7:3, "WHY DO YOU STARE FROM WITHOUT AT THE VERY

SMALL PARTICLE THAT'S IN YOUR BROTHER'S EYE."

LET ME GIVE IT TO YOU, I THINK IT'S THE LIVING BIBLE, "WHY DO

YOU STARE FROM WITHOUT AT THE TOOTHPICK THAT'S IN YOUR

BROTHER'S EYE BUT YOU DON'T BECOME AWARE OF THE TELEPHONE

POLE THAT'S IN YOUR EYE?"

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: AND LISTEN, JUST IMAGINE IF THERE WERE TWO PEOPLE

UP HERE AND ONE HAD A TOOTHPICK STICKING OUT OF HIS EYE AND

ANOTHER ONE HAD A TELEPHONE POLE STICKING OUT OF HIS EYE.

AND THE GUY WITH THE TELEPHONE POLE STICKING OUT OF HIS EYE IS

TRYING TO CORRECT THE GUY WITH THE TOOTHPICK IN HIS EYE.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: AND ACTUALLY, IF YOU GO AND READ ALL THOSE SCRIPTURES

IN MATTHEW 7, I MEAN, IT GETS REALLY GOOD BECAUSE HE SAID, "GO

FIRST AND GET THE TELEPHONE POLE OUT OF YOUR OWN EYE, THEN YOU

WILL SEE CLEARLY HOW TO TAKE THE TOOTHPICK OUT OF YOUR

BROTHER'S EYE."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: SEE, WE REALLY--WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO HELP PEOPLE

PROPERLY.

THERE'S NO COMPASSION, NO GENTLENESS IF WE'VE GOT A BIGGER

MESS IN OUR LIFE THAN THEY DO, BUT WE'RE BLIND TO OUR FAULTS

AND ONLY SEE THEIRS.

MAYBE THERE'S JUST SOMEBODY LISTENING IN HERE OR BY TV,

MAYBE YOU COULD JUST THINK ABOUT THIS A LITTLE BIT.

MAYBE YOU COULD JUST THINK ABOUT ALL THOSE PEOPLE YOU DON'T LIKE

AND YOU COULD JUST MAYBE ASK YOURSELF,

"IS IT EVEN REMOTELY POSSIBLE?"

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: I MEAN, I KNOW IT WOULD BE VERY REMOTE, BUT IS IT

EVEN REMOTELY POSSIBLE THAT I COULD HAVE MORE PROBLEMS

THAN THEY DO?

HMM, WELL, I'LL JUST LEAVE THAT WITH YOU.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: NOW YOU'LL LIKE THIS ONE BETTER, NUMBER THREE.

PRAY FOR THE PERSON WHO'S BEING DIFFICULT TO GET ALONG WITH.

YES, THANK YOU.

BUT DON'T PRAY FOR THEM TO CHANGE JUST TO MAKE IT EASIER

FOR YOU.

BUT PRAY FOR THEM TO BE ALL THAT GOD WANTS THEM TO BE.

PRAY FOR THE PERSON WITH HUMILITY, REALIZING BUT FOR

THE GRACE OF GOD THERE GO I.

ROMANS 12:3, "FOR BY THE GRACE--"

I LOVE WHAT PAUL--HOW PAUL APPROACHES THIS.

HE'S GETTING READY TO CORRECT THE ROMANS AND HE SAYS,

"BY THE GRACE (OF GOD) I WARN EVERYONE AMONG YOU

NOT TO THINK MORE HIGHLY OF YOURSELF THAN YOU OUGHT TO."

SO, HE DIDN'T JUST GO IN THERE AND START TELLING THEM OFF.

HE SAID, "LOOK, I'M ONLY COMING TO YOU AND DARING TO TELL YOU

THIS BECAUSE GOD HAS GIVEN ME A GRACE TO DO THIS.

AND SO, I'M TELLING YOU, DON'T THINK MORE HIGHLY OF YOURSELF

THAN YOU OUGHT TO.

DON'T HAVE AN EXAGGERATED OPINION OF YOUR OWN IMPORTANCE."

NOW, YOU KNOW, HONESTLY AND TRULY, SOMETIMES BEING

JUDGMENTAL OF OTHER PEOPLE, IT IS A MECHANISM THAT WE COME UP

WITH TO NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH OUR OWN PROBLEMS.

AS LONG AS I STAY BUSY THINKING ABOUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU,

I DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON IN MY

OWN LIFE.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: SO, I'VE KINDA FOUND OUT IN MY MANY YEARS OF

EXPERIENCE OF DOING A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF WRONG AND

HOPEFULLY LEARNING TO DO A LOT OF IT RIGHT NOW THAT I REALLY

NEED TO SPEND LESS TIME ON OTHER PEOPLE AND MORE TIME ON ME.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AMEN?

I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT NOT CONFRONTING PEOPLE'S BAD

BEHAVIOR, BUT WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT IS NOT THEN BUILDING WALLS

AROUND YOURSELF AND KEEPING THEM OUT OF YOUR LIFE, THINKING

YOU'RE PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM EVER GETTING HURT AGAIN.

GOTTA KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU WALL PEOPLE OUT,

YOU WALL YOURSELF IN.

JOYCE: BE READY TO FORGIVE 'EM OFTEN.

SEVEN TIMES?

I CAN DO SEVEN, LORD.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: NO PETER, JUST OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER,

AND OVER.

"FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER."

EPHESIANS 4:32 SAYS, "FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER [READILY

AND FREELY], AS GOD IN CHRIST HAS FORGIVEN YOU."

YOU WILL NEVER AND I WILL NEVER HAVE TO FORGIVE SOMEBODY ELSE

FOR MORE THAN JESUS HAS HAD TO FORGIVE ME FOR.

EVERY DAY, EVERY DAY, EVERY DAY, EVERY DAY, EVERY DAY.

ALL RIGHT, NUMBER FIVE, BE WILLING TO COVER THEIR SIN.

1 PETER 4:8, "ABOVE ALL THINGS HAVE INTENSE AND UNFAILING LOVE

FOR ONE ANOTHER, FOR LOVE COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS [FORGIVES

AND DISREGARDS THE OFFENSES OF OTHERS]."

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO COVER SOMEBODY'S SIN?

WELL, I BELIEVE IT MEANS DON'T EXPOSE THEIR FAULTS TO

SOMEBODY ELSE.

IF MY HUSBAND WOULD NOT HAVE APPLIED THESE PRINCIPLES

THE FIRST THREE TO FIVE YEARS OF OUR MARRIAGE, I WOULD NOT BE

STANDING HERE TONIGHT SHARING THIS MESSAGE WITH YOU.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: BECAUSE I CAN PROMISE YOU, I WAS A PERSON THAT WAS

DIFFICULT TO LOVE, BUT I WASN'T DOING IT ON PURPOSE.

I DIDN'T ACT THE WAY THAT I DID ON PURPOSE.

PEOPLE WOULD SAY TO ME, "WHY DO YOU ACT THE WAY YOU DO?"

AND I'D THINK, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

ACT WHAT WAY?" I JUST HAD ALL KINDS

OF PROBLEMS ON THE INSIDE OF ME AND I NEEDED SOMEBODY TO SHOW

ME JESUS.

I NEEDED SOMEBODY--ONE OF THE THINGS THAT--YOU KNOW, MAKE

PEOPLE JEALOUS OF WHAT YOU HAVE WITH GOD.

I GOT TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS JEALOUS OF DAVE'S PEACE.

IT WAS LIKE HE HAD SO MUCH PEACE, I THOUGHT, "I WANT THAT."

IF YOU CAN HAVE THAT, I WANT THAT.

AND HE'D STAY HAPPY WHEN I'D GET MAD AT HIM.

HE'D JUST STAY HAPPY.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]

JOYCE: AND THAT WOULD JUST EAT ME UP THAT I COULDN'T MAKE

HIM UNHAPPY LIKE I WAS UNHAPPY.

AND SO, THEN I FINALLY THOUGHT, "I WANT THAT HAPPINESS.

I WANT THAT KIND OF LIFE WHERE NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE DO,

I CAN STILL ENJOY MY DAY AND BE HAPPY."

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: SEE, HERE'S THE THING, WE CAN'T PREACH EVERYBODY INTO

A CHANGE, BUT WE CAN SHOW THEM BY EXAMPLE.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: WE CAN SHOW THEM BY EXAMPLE.

TREAT OTHER PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANNA BE TREATED, NOT THE WAY

THEY TREAT YOU.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: YOU KNOW WHY?

BECAUSE WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.

AND I HEARD ONE MAN SAY MANY YEARS AGO, AND I THINK

IT'S A GOOD POINT.

HE SAID, "I HAVE TO ASK MYSELF WHEN SOMEBODY OFFENDS ME, ARE

THEY SOWING OR AM I REAPING?"

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: BECAUSE IN ALL HONESTY, HOW MANY TIMES, MAYBE

BACK HERE IN THE PAST AND WE'VE FORGOTTEN IT, 'CAUSE WE'RE

PRETTY QUICK AT FORGETTING WHAT WE DO WRONG.

MAYBE WE HAVE DONE THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER TO

OTHER PEOPLE THAT SOMEBODY ELSE NOW IS DOING TO US.

SO, WHEN I HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING ALONG WITH PEOPLE, IS IT

BECAUSE THEY'RE HARD TO GET ALONG WITH OR IS IT BECAUSE I'M

A LITTLE TOO PICKY?

WHEN SOMEBODY MISTREATS ME, ARE THEY SOWING OR AM I REAPING?

I WANNA GO OVER--I'M JUST GONNA READ THIS LIST OF THESE

NINE POINTS.

NUMBER ONE, BELIEVE THE BEST.

NUMBER TWO, PRAY FOR YOURSELF.

NUMBER THREE, PRAY FOR THEM TO BE ALL THAT GOD WANTS 'EM TO BE.

NUMBER FOUR, BE READY TO FORGIVE PEOPLE.

NUMBER FOUR, BE READY TO FORGIVE.

NUMBER FIVE, COVER THEIR SIN, DON'T GOSSIP.

NUMBER SIX, BLESS AND DO NOT CURSE THEM.

NUMBER SEVEN, HELP THEM IF THEY NEED HELP.

NUMBER EIGHT, DON'T GLOAT WHEN THEY HAVE TROUBLE.

AND NUMBER NINE, TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED,

NOT THE WAY THEY HAVE TREATED YOU, AMEN.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: WELL, I PRAY--I PRAY, LORD, THAT ANYBODY HERE THAT--I

PRAY THAT EVERYBODY HERE THAT THIS HELPS, AND THAT WHEN PEOPLE

WATCH THIS ON TELEVISION, IT'S GONNA HELP.

AND I PRAY A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL LET GO OF ANGER AND BITTERNESS,

AND BE A SHINING, BRIGHT LIGHT FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP.

WE ASK IT IN JESUS'S NAME.

THE DELICATE ANSWER TO TODAY'S "HELP ME" QUESTION IS COMING UP,

BUT FIRST, HERE'S A GLIMPSE AT WHAT'S HAPPENING NEXT TIME ON

"EVERYDAY ANSWERS."

JOYCE: WELL, GOD, WILL YOU--WILL YOU CHANGE DA--

GINGER: TODAY'S "HELP ME" QUESTION DEALS WITH THE FEAR

THAT COMES DUE TO THE TRAGIC MURDER OF A LOVED ONE.

TAKE A LOOK.

[MUSIC]

GINGER: WELL, WE HAVE A FRIEND FOR YOU TODAY WITH

A VIDEO QUESTION, ALL RIGHT?

LET'S TAKE A LOOK.

FEMALE: HI, JOYCE.

I WAS JUST WONDERING, I LOST MY BROTHER TO MURDER A FEW YEARS

AGO, AND NOW THAT I'M A MOMMY, I'M JUST WONDERING, HOW DO I GET

OVER THE FEAR OF SOMETHING HAPPENING TO MY SON?

JOYCE: WELL, FIRST OF ALL-- GINGER: THAT'S HEARTBREAKING.

JOYCE: WELL, IT IS AND IT'S VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND.

BUT, "GOD HAS NOT GIVEN US A SPIRIT OF FEAR, BUT OF POWER,

LOVE, AND A SOUND MIND."

AND SO, IT'S CERTAINLY NOT GOD'S WILL FOR HER TO BE IN FEAR,

BECAUSE FEAR HATH TORMENT.

AND THE BIBLE SAYS IN 1 JOHN THAT WHEN WE KNOW THE PERFECT

LOVE THAT GOD HAS FOR US, THEN WE ARE DELIVERED FROM FEAR.

AND SO, REALLY, IN THE WORLD THAT WE LIVE IN TODAY, THERE'S

SO MANY VIOLENT AND NEGATIVE THINGS THAT HAPPEN THAT I THINK

ALL OF US HAVE TO MAKE THAT CHOICE THAT WE'RE NOT GONNA LIVE

IN FEAR, BECAUSE WHAT KIND OF A LIFE IS IT IF YOU LIVE IN FEAR

ALL THE TIME?

AND SO, I THINK THAT SHE HAS TO APPLY THE SAME PRINCIPLES THAT

WE ALL DO EVERY SINGLE DAY.

THE BIBLE IN EPHESIANS 6 TALKS ABOUT COVERING EVERYTHING WITH

PRAYER.

AND SO, I PUT A PRAYER COVERING OVER MY CHILDREN, SOMETIMES ON

A DAILY BASIS, CERTAINLY EVERY TIME IT COMES TO MY HEART, AND I

JUST SIMPLY SAY, YOU KNOW, "I ASK YOU TO KEEP MY CHILDREN

SAFE.

KEEP THEM FROM ACCIDENTS, KEEP THEM FROM DISEASE."

AND I PUT A PRAYER COVER OVER THEIR LIFE, TRUSTING THAT THEY

WILL BE COVERED AND THE ENEMY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET TO THEM.

WELL, THEN THE OBVIOUS QUESTION COMES.

SOMEBODY MIGHT SAY, "WELL, I DID THAT, AND YOU KNOW, MY--THIS

STILL HAPPENED TO MY CHILD."

WELL THEN, I THINK IN THOSE KINDS OF SITUATIONS, WE'RE

REALLY JUST MAKING A MISTAKE IF WE GET TOO DEEP INTO TRYING TO

FIGURE OUT THE WHY BEHIND THINGS.

AND SOME THINGS WE'RE NEVER GONNA UNDERSTAND UNTIL WE GET TO

HEAVEN AND WE'RE LIVING WITH HIM, BUT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO

FIGURE OUT WHY, THE BEST THING TO DO IS TRUST THAT GOD CAN TAKE

ANY HORRIBLE, UNFAIR SITUATION AND WORK GOOD OUT OF IT.

AND THAT'S ONE OF THE GREAT THINGS ABOUT HAVING A

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IS WE CAN TRUST HIM TO DO THAT.

BUT I WOULD JUST SAY TO HER, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T LET

THE ENEMY TAKE WHAT HE ALREADY DID TO HER BROTHER AND USE IT

NOW TO TORMENT HER FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE.

BECAUSE REALLY, IF WE DO THAT, THEN WE'RE JUST REALLY PLAYING

RIGHT INTO THE ENEMY'S HANDS, BECAUSE THE PAIN JUST GOES ON,

AND ON, AND ON.

GINGER: AND SHE'LL LOSE THE JOY THAT GOD WANTS HER TO

HAVE WITH THAT CHILD AND IN BEING A MOTHER.

IT'LL BE REPLACED BY THE FEAR OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN INSTEAD.

JOYCE: YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT.

SO, JUST COVER YOUR CHILDREN WITH PRAYER AND TRUST THAT GOD

WILL BE GOD IN THEIR LIVES.

[MUSIC]

GINGER: PLEASE SHARE YOUR QUESTIONS WITH US.

DO IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA IF YOU LIKE.

Do I pay back my interest in CEL or in dollars? - Duration: 0:42.

When you receive $1 loan, then once a month

you have to make an interest payment.

The interest payment represents just the interest on your loan.

We don't actually charge you or ask you to pay the principal.

So the interest on your loan, which

let's say in the beginning is 9%,

represents a certain dollar value.

With that dollar value that you send us in dollars,

we buy sell tokens.

Those sell tokens then go into the smart contract.

The smart contract immediately looks

to see who contributed those tokens,

the equivalent coins against that contract,

and those are distributed, the sell tokens are distributed,

to the membership per annum.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR ONIONS??? | The Starving Chef - Duration: 9:23.

I've been teaching myself the basics of cooking for several years now, but

there's one question that still remains - why are there so many different kinds of

onions???

What's up, hungry people? Welcome to the Starving Chef's kitchen.

Today we're going to be trying something a little bit different, and we are going

to be checking out the various kinds of onions that you can find in your grocery

store and how you can utilize each one in several different recipes. First up we

have yellow onions. Now yellow onions are the most common type of onions that you

can find in your grocery store and they're super pungent raw but really

sweet once they've been cooked. Yellow onions are perfect for everyday use. If a

recipe calls for onions, but doesn't specify what kind of onion to use, your

go-to onion should be the hardy yellow. They have this really nice parchment

skin; that's super loud and crinklely when you take it off.

Just kind of satisfying

to pull off the skin. Even though I'm having a hard time with it here.

Oh my gosh I can't get this piece off...

Yellow onions can be found pretty much year-round.

In fact about 90% of onions grown in the United States

are actually yellow onions. The easiest way to cut an onion without

crying, shockingly, is to put it into the freezer for about an hour before you

slice. This is the moment of truth. If I start crying, then I'm wrong. But... it seems

like I'm gonna be okay. What putting the onions in the freezer does, is actually

makes the juices less likely to spray out into the air because they're heavier

and stay inside the onion. Store yellow onions in a cool dry place and keep them

away from potatoes because they will cause the potatoes to grow eyes. To store

a yellow onion long term you can wrap them in a paper towel and stick them in

a mesh bag and keep them in your crisper for up to three months. Next up are sweet

onions. Also known as Vandalia onions, Walla Walla, and Maui onions,

basically anything with the word "sweet" in the name, are sweet onions. Sweet

onions are best bought spring through summer

and are a little more mellow in the winter months than they are in their

peak season. In a side-by-side comparison, the sweet onion is larger and flatter

than the yellow onion and has a lighter more opaque skin than the yellow onion

does. Sweet onions are ideal for caramelizing and even better for making

onion rings. Next up: white onions. With their all white and papery skin, white

onions are much sweeter and crisper and flavor than yellow onions. Their mild

and sweet flavors -

-whoops-

With their mild and sweet flavor, white onions are

actually really good for serving raw or in salsas or guac, because it adds a nice

tangy snap of flavor right in the middle of your taste buds. When you put them all

together, the white onion should be the heaviest out of the three. Sweet onions

are kind of a cross between your white onion and the yellow onion but have a

much more sweet flavor while the white onion has a crisper flavor. Yellow onion

on the other hand is extremely pungent usually isn't recommended to eat

raw. Now red onions probably have the best sounding skin out of all the onions. Just take a listen:

Bet you didn't know this was going to be an ASMR video.

Red onions can be anywhere from a dark magenta to more of a violet purple in

color. They have a really assertive flavor and they're best used in raw

applications, but they do become a little bit more mild and sweet once they've been

cooked. Red onions have a much sharper taste in the winter than they do in the

summer, when they have a much more mild and mellow flavor. I recommend using red

onions to add splash of color to any dish. Red onions can be bought year-round

but I definitely recommend seeking them out especially in the winter months so

you could take advantage of that nice sharp flavor. Next up are pearl onions.

They're basically exactly like a regular onion but super tiny! Pearl onions can be

glazed, roasted, pickled or even frozen, to last way longer than your regular onion.

The only thing I dislike about pearl onions is that they are kind of hard to prep. The

best way to get the skin off is to actually blanch them in hot water first, and then

pop them out of their skins - because otherwise you're gonna be stuck there

picking off every single, teeny-tiny layer to get to that nice soft flesh.

While you can buy pearl onions year-round, they can be sort of hard to

find - especially in the winter months. So if you need pearl onions for a specific

recipe, you can usually find a frozen variety in your frozen food aisle. Next

up are green onions. Also known as scallions, spring onions, salad onions and

even sometimes, shallots, green onions are probably the most misunderstood onion

that there is. Basically all green onions are, are unformed onions

or immature onions that haven't yet formed a full bulb. Green onions are best

used to add a splash of color, as a garnish, or it can even be cooked in to

things like fried rice or added in at the last stages of any stew - look for

green onions in the late spring and summer, when they are at their peak. Never

store green onions in a plastic bag, because the high moisture level will

cause the onions to wilt and rot a lot faster than if they are stored upright

in a glass jar or vase like a flower. If they have their root, you can plant them

again too. Next up are your leeks. Leeks are

basically shaped like overgrown green onions they have a mellow flavor but are

actually pretty sweet. They generally aren't eaten raw because they can be

super tough and they're really hard to get really clean - which if they're not

cleaned correctly, that might result in a gritty flavor and texture. Leeks are

awesome roasted but they can also be creamed to make lovely, lovely sauces.

Next up: shallots. Shallots are smaller than other onions and have a brown skin

with a light purple flesh. They're most likely going to be paired up in multiple

lobes, which means when you open them there's a higher chance

for two to be attached together that need pulled apart. Now, my grocery store was

out of regular shallots, so mine are a little bit on the small side, but I have

seen shallots that can get pretty large. They're easy to finely mince because of

their thin layers and they look pretty because of their color. Shallots are

closer to garlic in flavor and so that means that they add a really pungent

bright flavor to pretty much any dish. They're great to use raw and dressings

and I've even used them in mignonette with oysters. While they are definitely

great chopped up, they are also excellent roasted. They're really popular in Asian

and Indian culture because they add a bright zing of flavor to any dish. Shallots

can typically be bought year-round and make sure when you buy them that they

don't have any bruises and that the skin is totally intact.Last up are your

Cipollini onions. Cipollini onions are super sweet which means they're perfect

for caramelizing or roasting. When compared to a regular pearl onion, you

can see that Cipollini onions are super flat and wide versus round. To prep a

Cipollini onion, you actually have to remove both the top and the bottom which

makes them a little bit harder for to prepare than your standard onion.

Cipollini onions can be found year-round though they can be sort of hard to find in

the winter months. They are sweeter and milder in the summer and tangy-er in the

winter though, so if you can find them you're definitely in for a treat.

Onions are pretty much a staple ingredient in my house. Pretty much all

my favorite recipes have at least one onion involved and I always double the

amount of onions when I'm cooking a recipe for myself. With so many different

kinds and varieties of onions, it's really hard to go wrong - but there are

specific uses for each one. Once you know what kind of onions you have and how to

best use them, your food will thank you for it.

With so many different kinds of onions to choose from, it still can be a little

overwhelming to pick out which can be used for each recipe. While yellow onions

should definitely be your go-to when you're in doubt, do a little research to

see what onion goes best in your favorite recipes.

I hope you all enjoy

and I'll talk to you soon
