360°, Plitvice Lakes in Winter, Croatia. 8K aerial video - Duration: 4:59.
In the central part of Croatia you may find the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Its surface was made by the waters of Korana River.
In a couple thousands of years they formed travertine barriers that created
dams, lakes, waterfalls and caves.
The Park extends over 29 thousand hectares, 217 of which are occupied by the lakes.
They are connected by a cascade of 140 waterfalls of different height.
Usually in the middle of winter the cascades freeze,
shaping giant blue icicles and landscapes of unbelievable beauty.
The first tourists were military people that built a small recreation house for themselves in 1861.
By the end of the 19th century the lakes were visited by 1000 people annually
and nowadays the number is 1,5 million.
In 1949 the Plitvice Lakes were declared a National Park and in 1979 they was inscribed
on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.
Swimming in the lakes was allowed until 2006,
when scientists revealed that the increasing amount of organic substances in the water
have a bad effect on the fragile ecosystem.
The Plitvice waters have a color of bright-cyan and emerald
because of the thick saturation of minerals,
calcium and magnesium carbonates, algae, moss and bacteria.
The forests of the Park mainly consist of buck and pine trees.
More than a thousand of different kinds of plants grow here.
There are 50 types of orchids here.
75 types of plants are endemics – that means they can be found only here!
The lakes take their waters from five rivers: Korana, Crna, Bijela, Plitvica and Rechitsa.
The Yugoslavian wars of 1991 also affected the Plitvice Lakes:
battles were held on their territory.
Today the Park is cleared of land-mines and tourist infrastructure is restored.
Camp fires are also prohibited as well as having picnics and walking with dogs.
There is even special ground flooring for tourists to walk on in order to protect the grass.
The most beautiful waterfall of the Park is considered to be the Sastavci, being 72 meters high.
It is situated on the convergence of the Plitvica and Korana rivers.
The Plitvice Lakes are one of the places on Earth where new waterfalls appear each year:
they are created by the water that washes off the soft chalkstone grounds.

How to Make Great Films – The One Thing You MUST HAVE for Good Videos - Duration: 4:04.
What is it that makes a great film, and what do you need to make sure your films
are great too? Answer is coming up now.
Hey everyone, Camber here coming at you from Mississippi, and welcome to the
beginning. "The beginning of what?" The beginning of a channel that is dedicated
to teaching you all about filmmaking so that you can go from knowing absolutely
nothing about taking video with your camera to being able to make awesome
videos that people will even pay you for. So if that's you, consider subscribing
because we've got a lot of great content to come. So let's jump right into it.
There is so much equipment to consider when it comes to making films. I mean
you've got your camera. You've got your lenses. You've got tripods, monopods,
sliders, gimbles, lights, microphones, diffusers, reflectors, filters, drones.
So what is it that makes a good film?
I've got a secret for you.
It's none of that stuff!
The most important part of filmmaking is none of that equipment
that you get. It's not the gimbals, the tripods, the cameras, the microphones,
the filters, any of that stuff. The most important part of filmmaking; the one
thing you have to get right is your STORY. Before we keep going disclaimer,
I know there's gonna be people out there that say your film can get ruined by bad
lighting, bad framing, bad music, whatever. And I agree. A good story can be ruined
by having bad lighting, bad framing, bad camera moves, bad audio. Tons, a ton of variables.
However, you can't fix a bad story just by having the best equipment,
huge crews, or having a latest red 8k camera. If all it took was the best
equipment, we wouldn't have films like this happen:

So the most important part of filmmaking is the story because we are
first and foremost storytellers. Instead of writing our stories in a book, we're
putting it up on a screen for people to see. There's a ton of variables; we're
gonna learn the technicals on how to make your story look good, but you have
to start with that baseline of having a good story for it to be a good film.
So what is it that makes a good story? How do we know if it's good?
Think about your favorite films.
So story is the most important building block of films,
and we're gonna go into breaking down stories later on and seeing what is
it that makes these good stories. For now I'll just leave you this link here.
You can go check out Darious Britt. He's got a lot of great videos talking about story
structure, breaking down different movies, telling how they work and what is it
that drives that story and makes it good. So check it out; that's great resource.
But as we go into picking cameras, lens choice, all the different variables
of your camera. Learning how to use those tools to further your story, to better
tell your story so that you can turn that story into an awesome film.
