moving on with the last news Elan musk is being sued by the SEC or at least the
streets are being sued by the SEC the US Securities and Exchange Commission
alleges that Elon Musk made false and misleading statements as ahead of a
publicly traded company in a series of August streets about taking Tesla
private in the streets he said I'm considering taking Tesla private at
dollar 420 the sea you wrote on 7th of August around 1:00 p.m. funding secured
to the street the company's stock shot by 6% to the close of the day with a lot
of questions and market confusion whether musk was serious or just making
a weed joke on Twitter he was confident that the funding he referred to would
materialize at the price after prior discussion with Saudi Arabia's public
investment fund Tesla's executives including the Tesla head of investor
relations were not informed about Musk's plan to take the company private or make
a statement to that effect now Tesla is not specifically named
in the SEC lawsuit those sources are close to Tesla told numerous news
outlets that the company might be expected to be sued hypothetically
speaking if musk is found guilty of the fraud charges the SEC would want to bar
him from serving hang on any publicly traded company as an officer or a

Google Home and Google Assistant New Updates and New Features for September 30, 2018 - Duration: 6:37.
Hello everyone. Thanks for tuning in again. It's time to get started with
another Google Home and Google Assistant new features, new updates, and of course
new products. Everything that is the latest with the Google Home and Google
Assistants. So let's get going. The first thing to talk about this week is
actually the fact that this little device right here, the Google Home Mini,
was the top-selling speaker actually in quarter 2 of 2018.
So this captured 20% of the smart home market, whereas the Amazon Echo Dot
captured 18 percent. Now overall what I'll tell you is Amazon is still ahead
because their Amazon Echo outperformed the larger Google Home device here, and
the Google Home Max of course, but ultimately we can see that lead eroding
from Amazon. Something that you've likely expected was the case already was that
Google Assistant was available on Android Auto. Well that hasn't been the
case and it is now going to be the case as Google rolls out updates to Android
Auto in a number of countries. Now of course with this there's not going to be
a keyboard, so you're not able to type in commands, Google obviously doesn't want
to promote you typing into an interface in a car. Now the countries that will be
getting Android Auto pushed out to them are Australia, France, Germany, the UK, and the
United States. So kind of all the the normal countries that we're used to
getting these kinds of features first, but there you go. One of the things that
we're seeing is called digital wellbeing and we know that both Apple and Google
have been focusing on that, and they've been trying to add that as an extra
feature to their phones, to their operating systems, and ultimately to the
Google Home in this case, and the Google's Assistant settings now on top
of that what we're seeing is digital wellbeing starting to show up in the
settings applications in the next apk or the next download of both the Google app
and the Google Assistant app. Something that was brought to my attention by
actually one of our followers here, Justin Harvey, is his
name. I'll leave his Twitter profile down below, you can follow him, he kind of
follows all the technology space just like I do, and he pointed out that Roku,
all of the TVs and the streaming boxes, will be able to utilize the Google
Assistant. So there's integration coming here right away through your Roku to
search for TV show,s movies, etc., and go ahead and get those playing on your
device. So that integration is right away here coming for Roku. On top of all of
this we've seen Google consistently adding new languages to their list of
supported languages basically for the Google Assistant and the Google
Home. Now this week and actually last week we started seeing Danish and
Norwegian rollout for the Google Assistant. So it's not quite on the
Google Home just yet, but you can use it with Google Assistant. You're going to be
able to get both of those languages. One thing that we've been hearing a lot
about is the material theme design, and we've been seeing little snippets of it
here and ther,e but with devices like the Lenovo Smart Display, JBL has one of
course, and you know we're basically on pins and needles about the Pixel 3 here,
but ultimately with those devices coming out, Google Assistant is now getting the
material theme design pushed out to it all over the world, and what we're seeing
is those cards of information showing up when we're asking questions that Google
wants to provide a visual response for us. Something that's been an interesting
trend, and I didn't quite understand this functionality until I started reading
about it here, recently the Sony Xperia XZ3 is another phone that will have the
Google Assistant on board. You'll be able to basically bring it up with the use of
the power button actually I think you double tap it if I remember correctly,
but it's getting some specialized commands for that device through the
Google Assistant. So it's not just your standard set of instructions that you
have access to, you actually get a few custom
commands with that. Things like manipulating the camera, how it's taking
pictures. SimpliSafe is a home security system with a $25 a month or $24.99 USD a
month service fee that you can go ahead and get professional monitoring for. So
it's kind of a do-it-yourself system with SimpliSafe's hub. Now SimpliSafe
has gone ahead and they've created integration with Google Home and Google
Assistant, so you can go ahead and you can actually arm your system, ask the
status of your system, and get other statuses from the SimpliSafe security
system. Now you do have to have that $25 a month professional monitoring service.
Something that I don't think has been out there quite as far-reaching as say a
device like Circle by Disney is Google's Family Link. Now what this is is this is
capability for you as a parent to limit screen time. Now there are some
requirements for what devices you have, and what device your child has. They must
have an Android device of 7.0 or better, and if they don't you can't limit their
time, but you can as the parent have an iOS device of a certain level. I think
it's iOS 9, but I'll leave a link down below. You can go ahead and read all
about Family Link by Google. It's now integrated with the Google Assistant. One
last thing to talk about, Disney has added three
basically text-based games to the Google Assistant. We haven't talked about kids
for a little while her,e we haven't really seen the push from Google on the
kids side as hard, but Disney has come along with three games. They are Maui's
music game, the Disney Princess, and Toy Story freeze dance. Now those games are
obviously available through your Google Assistant and your Google Home right now.

We'll be looking at how you can use your school Google account to submit homework through Google Drive
Both for files you create on your computer and those that you create using Google Apps like Google Docs sheets or slides
First we'll open a web browser and go to the LBCC home page
at the top of the page, we'll click on the email link and
Then on the lbcc email page, we'll use this link to log into our school gmail account
Fill in your student email address and password and click Next
Once we're logged in we'll use the Google Apps button to navigate to Google Drive, Google
Drive is easy to use cloud storage
You can use to save any files you like you can then access them from an Internet connected computer
Anywhere in the world at any time
We'll use the new button to create a new folder
Your instructor will tell you how they want you to name this folder for this example
We're going to create a folder named Paris - Joe - CS $1.99
Next we'll right click on the new folder and select share from the pop-up menu
enter the school email address of the person you want to share the folder with I'm
Going to share the folder with my instructor in this case. That's Joe Paris
Click the advanced button and confirm that the person you are sharing with can organize add and edit files this way
Your instructor can add notes and feedback to the assignments you turn in?
Finally send your instructor and invitation to view your folder. Once they accept they'll be able to see anything you add to the shared folder
Now we'll see how you can turn in files you've created on your computer perhaps this is some source code or an image you've created
Regardless the steps are the same
Open the shared folder and create a new folder inside it
Your instructor will let you know how they want you to organize your work in this example
We'll be making a folder named assignment - one
Open the assignment - one folder and drag and drop your file or files you want to submit into it
Next we'll see how you can create a file using one of the google apps such as Google Docs to complete an assignment
And save it in the proper folder for your instructor to grade first make a new Google Docs document
You
Now give the document a name
Again your instructor will let you know how they want you to name your files notice that the file is currently saved in my drive
Which means that it's just in your Google Drive, but not in the folder. You've shared with your instructor
They won't be able to see it to grade it if you leave it here
Click my drive select the folder you shared with your instructor
And click the new folder button to create a new subfolder within it
You finally click move here to move your homework into the appropriate folder

This method of turning your assignments is easy and convenient

robots I mean that kind of thing or what how do you just get a robot can you like
clarify exactly what the issue you have and you deserve the background we've

there certainly seems to be in the eye in the tech companies a big tremendous
new drive or interest to believing there will be all compiled in four intelligent
assistants it's good it'll make it better make your life better theory is
gonna suddenly get smart Microsoft's one is gonna get smart at Google is gonna
cream them all largely a happy version of this is going sometimes technology
hurts you but not as much as it helps you that's really yeah so that's there's
been a lot of conversation here about sure and yeah and you've staked out of
slightly different positions so can you talk about that well I mean I think my
sort of full position would require quite a long explanation I mean I I am
concerned about certain directions that I I could take that would be not good
for the future yet there's made it I think it'd be fair to say that like not
all AI futures are benign not not all okay and and so if you have something if
this if we create some digital super intelligence that exceeds us in every
way by a lot it's very important that that P benign and and so actually with
with the a few others I created open AI which is a an AI it's a non-profit
actually it's there's no I think the governance structure her is important so
you want to make sure that there was not some fiduciary
to generate you know profit off of the ad technology was developed so so we
created this 501c3 but but I it's quite different from a lot of sort of 503 SR
you know they've they don't have a high sense of urgency and like there's not
like you know they're not really sort of you developing technology at a fast pace
but open a is its opening I has very high sense of urgency and the talent I
think that the people that have joined are are really really amazing and and
the intent with open AI is to democratize AI power and there's a quote
that I love flat from old Acton he was the guy who came up with power corrupts
and absolute power corrupts absolutely which is that freedom consists of the
distribution of power and despotism in its concentration and so I think it's
important if we have this incredible power of AI that if not be concentrated
in the hands of a few and potentially lead to a world that we don't want and
what world is that what is what do you see foresee that when you see it's
difficult I mean it's called the singularity because it's it's difficult
predict what exactly what future that might be except I don't know a lot of
people who love the idea of living under a despot you know I don't think people
generally choose to live in a democracy over a dictatorship and the desperate
would be the computer what the people controlling the computer mm-hmm and do
you worry specifically about any of these companies I mentioned who've all
seemed to now be pivoting toward this is the battleground in the next 10 years I
won't name a name but there is only one there's only one you're worried about
and they're not preoccupied with making a car that will compete with you I
assume there's anyone and what this isn't about
it's not about competing it's desert look like this is sort of like like what
we play the point of competing for you know mutual destruction it's like
there's no it's not about competing it's really just about trying to increase the
probability that the future will be good that's all
so the the goal of opening eye is really just to take the set of actions that are
most likely to improve the positive futures like if you can think of like
the future as a set of of probability streams that yeah that branch out and
then converge collapse down to a particular event and then branch out
again and there's a certain set of probabilities associated with the future
be positive and different type flavors of that and at opening I we want to try
to cut do do whatever we can to guide to to increase the probability of the good
future is happening I think that's that's really what
